Overall okay. Small place with small menu. Mostly burgers which are okay. French fries are soggy and not very good. Appetizers were also okay. Pretzels are okay but would not repeat. The fried risotto was basically Arancini. However these were not very good. The risotto was soggy and the sauce they are served on is not a good choice and conflicts with the flavors in the rice.

The service was great, and so was the food. I'm predominantly vegan, and many places offer black bean burgers. Most are clearly just frozen patties that lots of places offer. Avenue Eats had unique and delicious black bean patties on their sliders. My wife and son enjoyed splitting the classic cheeseburger, and my nitpicky son loved their fries. I also enjoyed the fried green tomatoes - YUM! Highly recommended!

Just... Wow. I don't know where to start. This place is the best. Not only are the burgers the best I've ever had, but the chef has created some amazing combinations. The beef is grass fed, tender, and almost deserves to be eaten open faced with a fork. Everything on the menu reminds me of a something you'd fund in a luxury kitchen, but is served in this eclectic little place in Wheeling. As good as the burgers are, the staff are even better. Friendly, smiling, and enthusiastic... I bet you can't find a better experience in 500 miles. Handmade cupcakes, by the way! Flavor creations change almost everyday. Worth the visit just for those!!

We stopped here on our way to NYC. It was conveniently located just off of I-70. Great quality food and friendly service in a quaint atmosphere. We had the Gouda burger, mushroom Swiss burger and a grilled Chicken Club and they were all delicious. Really nice menu offering a wide variety of choices. Check it out if you are in Wheeling, WV!

We stopped for lunch while on a road trip. Food is great. Burgers are freshly made each day. We shared the charcuterie and cheese board. Delicious. Easily could've have shared with another person. Loved the home made jam! Both the brie and pear and the blue cheese burger we very tasty. We certainly would make a stop here again if we're in the area. Ps. The staff were lovely too.

My wife and I decided to stop for dinner while making a stop for fuel on the way through Wheeling. What an amazing surprise! The burgers we had (the Poutine burger, and the Pear and Brie burger) were just fantastic! We also tried the fried risotto appetizer, and had a Guinness Cupcake, and were equally impressed with both. Also, every member of the staff that assisted us was very friendly, and made great recommendations... We'll be happy to stop back on our next drive through the area!

Heard about this place from a friend. It's a small restaurant but it's nice! I started off with some poutine fries, which tasted really good. The gravy is pretty rich and the portion size is big so you'll probably want to split with a friend. For my entree I had the Gouda burger with a balsamic side salad. The burger was a little smaller than I expected but the flavor more than made up for it. Topped off the meal with the Blondie brownie Sunday, which was pulled high with whipped cream. Overall a fantastic experience, I'll definitely come back to try out more of their burgers!

What an amazing hidden gem! While looking for a place to eat, we came across this and it was just perfect! The food was excellent, the service very friendly, and the atmosphere was very cozy. Check out the portobello mushroom sandwich and be sure to get the homemade cheesecake. It’s to die for.

Excellent place to eat. I had the b.l.f.g.t. and it was surprisingly filling (more than a regular b.l.t.) poutine was also very tasty. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because they were out of so many desserts. They did not have cheesecake, brownies, or the tiramisu cupcakes. It kind of put a damper on the experience and I wish they would've stocked up more. I would definitely go again, however, if they run out of desserts again, I quit.

My friend Dan describes Wheeling as a "food desert". He's not wrong, and that goes for most of the valley and surrounding areas. Now, I know, blanket statements like the above are generally met with criticism, and normally I would agree, however in this case I think it's important that we call a spade a spade. Career mill workers, coke furnaces, and steel-toed boots paints the ideology of what the valley was founded upon, and this lends itself to fast, high calorie food joints that have Budweiser on tap. When the blue collar industrial world started to buckle under several mounting economic variables, so did everything else. If there is one good thing that came out of the fall, it's the people and places that realized steel can't pay the bills any longer, and are attempting to revitalize the area through education, culture and food. Of these places is Avenue Eats, with unconventional choices such as their Brie and Grilled Pear Burger (which is phenomenal) and lamb tacos. With a staff that is knowledgeable and invested, and a chef who tends to the food with meticulous care, this is the type of venue that dusts the coal soot off, and breathes new life into Wheeling.

First time I have visited and had the freid green tomato appetizer and the B. L. F. G. T. (Bacon Lettuce Fried Green Tomato) sandwich and they were out of this world good. The sirachia aoli was the perfect pairing with the lightly corn meal dusted tomatoes.

This was our first visit. I googled good places to eat in Wheeling, because we aren't too familiar with the area. The inside was small, but they use the space well. There is also outdoor seating for days when it is nice out. We tried the fries with gravy, and my husband and I both enjoyed them. I had the breakfast burger. It comes with a maple aioli. Sort of like a maple mayo. The burger was outstanding! This was out of my comfort zone. U would normally have them hold the aioli. She put it on the side for me, so I could try it before committing to have it on my entire burger. It almost tasted like a burger and french toast at the same time! We also took three of their gourmet cupcakes with us! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a chance to stop by. Cute atmosphere and friendly servers, too.

I remember when this building used to be the old Velas Scuba diving shop. Really glad to see a local restaurant have such great success in my neighborhood! Can’t go wrong with any of the appetizers, but the burgers are really top notch. Don’t forget about the cupcakes for dessert!

We were on our way home to Iowa from a trip to DC and we like to find local places to try instead of chains. We found Avenue Eats online and since we are always up for burgers we navigated there. We found a small place that looked busy but had a few tables for 2 open in the front room along with a counter with stools. We told them we were a group of 8 and the hostess said there would be a 45 min wait as everyone there had just been seated. We understood that we are a large group, but we told her we were willing to split up and put 4 (kids) at the counter and the 4 adults at the two tables for 2 that were right next to each other. She said she would have to check with the servers. She care back very quickly and said the servers were not ok with it. I asked if she was willing to lose the sale for a group of 8 which was met with a blank stare. We would have liked to of tried the food to provide a positive review but due to the inability of the hostess to problem solve we ended up at a competitor who gladly sat us even though they were also busy.

The burger mix and grind is awesome. Salad and fries are as well. But I ordered lamb tacos and they never came. I ordered my burger med. rare and it was raw. The meat was still mushy. Fortunately, I can eat meat this way if I know the quality is good and it is here. Unfortunately, this is the third time in a row that the temp was not correct. Raspberry cheesecake was too sweet for my taste and it had a flower of icing on to that in my opinion does not belong on cheesecake. Our server was great and much of our meal a comped and non of the issues were her fault.

This is a gem in the quiet town of Wheeling, WV. They have great burgers and sandwiches that are always cooked to perfection. The staff is friendly, sometimes too much, but I can't hold that against them. There isn't too much room for seating here, so call ahead before you head down. They also have a nice craft beer selection for the area.

The Gouda Burger is to die for! My daughter had the margarita sandwich..but requested a burger on it..and then some of the garlic aoli...they had no problem "customizing" it for her. And my 4 yr old granddaughter had the burger sliders and gobbled down the whole thing and her plate of handcut fries... she took her second slider home but planned on hiding it from her daddy.!! The place is small in size but the staff is huge in service and friendliness... a must go to when in Wheeling!

Just one bite and you can tell that the meat is fresh and ground, an added bonus that it is also grass fed beef. Highly recommend, if you are in the area.

They have been voted best hamburger in West Virginia. This is true. Their burgers are delicious. However, I love their salads too. Everything is always so fresh. Oh, and don't forget to get a cupcake for dessert. I'm a sucker for their cupcakes. They are always fresh that day. The icing is to die for. And the flavors are always unique. Tip for lunch...get there early. This place is not very big. The tables fill up quick. I usually go at 11:30 instead of waiting for the noon rush. And the staff is so friendly. I have never had a bad experience here.

Best burger joint in WV. I've never had a poorly prepared meal and their beer selection is great. Seems to change seasonally, which in my opinion, isn't a bad thing. The pretzels and the Brie and Pear are my go to's. One of the more hipper Wheeling places. If it's nice out, sit on the deck. I got toasted on Sea Dog Apricot Ale and had a blast.

Wow - did not expect to find this place in Wheeling, WV! Really great burger (no matter where you are!) - I had the Gouda burger and my date had the Diner burger, both excellent, Gouda was a slight step ahead in my opinion. Charcuterie plate was also really well done. Definitely worth a visit.

This is such a great little restaurant. The food is so good (and inexpensive) and the employees were very friendly. The deserts are very pretty and also tasty. They even use compostable straws and advertise local farmers markets.
