This Restaurant is included in the category of Asian restaurant.
The atmosphere was super nice and inviting. Felt ritzy and staff went above and beyond in everything We did the 7 course tasting menu and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I've done several tastings like this, and this one is probably one of my tops. Everything was delicious and filling and I left comfortably full. Highly recommend, if you're in the mood for a heavy splurge! (Its a bit pricey!)
The hosts and server were great. The food was fantastic and the drinks were awesome and have good kick to brain. Only thing which was odd that the manager of the restaurant greeted each all customers except for tables with colored people. Very odd to see that behavior in Washington DC, capital of our great country. Please try to be inclusive and respectful of colored customers as well.
Wow. Where to begin. One of the best restaurants in my opinion in DC. The food, service and atmosphere were incredible. My wife and I went due to recommendations from a friend. Best bang for your buck in DC.
Good take on Asian cuisine in the area. Dumplings I had (pork) were sadly not as good as I had hoped but pretty much every else from the lychee based Vodka drink to the amazing duck and drunken noodles was both unique and tasty.
We stopped by for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing and we got to meet Wolfgang.
2nd visit this year, if i lived 1039 miles closer I'd go every other week. The food is........ The service makes the spectacular food taste 10x more fabulous. 6 people in this party and everyone enjoyed and spoke about this dinner for a 3 days. They even went out of their way to make it a dish that I had the last time I was there and was off menu currently. We actually had an unfortunate event at this dinner in regards to a particular dish, however, our server and manager immediately jumped into action and more than made up for the inconvenience. I was more than grateful and impressed with their hospitality and generosity. When back IN DC, definitely heading back to The Source. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Nice lounge area with solid bar. Food is good but pricey.
Good place for dinner and the taste of whole food is unbelievable. Expensive but worth to try if you have time to make reservations. The restaurant is inside the newspaper museum and good place for family.
It was pretty good but really OVER PRICED for regular food. The drinks however are really good.
The service was past amazing from the time we walked through the door! Our bartender: AMAZING! Our waiter JUAN: AMAZING Management: AMAZING! Food: AMAZING If I could give 10 ⭐️ s I would!!!
Always consistent. Love Chef Smith and the whole team.
Food is delicious and the servers are so nice!
Best find e restaurant in dc
The Source has stepped their game up, 5 start clear across the board. Customer service and food is astounding! So much detail went into everything I ordered, so much fine detail. Everything tasted perfect. I’m been going to this location for 7 years now and they have did a full 180...service and food was ok before, but now their all the way at the top of my list. If you want to impress anyone, this is the place to go.
Awesome!!! #gettheduck
A great place for roasted duck! Sauted vegetable is ok, kinda have a sense of East Asian food. Service is normal.
A pricey and bland menu. We had the 7 course meal and while the taste and presentation was acceptable, it was about the same quality as a food truck and lacked any of the ambition. There are better places around. And also we were only served 6 plates but who is counting.
The King Salmon was great. I would recommend it.
Fantastic food, service and ambiance.
Food, drinks and service are always on point. One of my favorite brunch spots.
Best food... Try the soup
Delicious food thank you
I always enjoy myself there. Nice people. Great food!!
Good and original dim sum offer in a comfortable and well run restaurant.
We have been there for restaurant week. Very interesting menu choices, very flavorful and a helpful staff alongside. Thanks Wolfgang
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. AMAZING service and foods. Hands down the best duck I’ve had. Suckling pig, oysters, even the free scallion pancake were incredible. I usually don’t trust Asian fusion foods but this restaurant really changed my opinion on it
The service was outstanding. Amazing hostess. The food was very good as well, definitely some unique dishes.
Great friendly staff from hostess, to bartender, to cooking staff. Food is well plated and delicious.
Kinda over priced. Dim Sum and bread are great. Whole fish is not as expected. You may get better food with same price.
This is the ideal place for a special occasion or a fancy date. The white tablecloth dining room upstairs is chic and elegant, just like the food. The platings are so beautiful you might feel bad about eating it. Excellent wine and cocktail list. When they say the carrot cake is award-winning, they aren't lying.
This is probably one of my top 5 places to eat in town.
So I took my wife here for a birthday lunch last week, against a backdrop of a gorgeous Spring day, cherry blossoms in full bloom, and people watching factor on high :) We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, tall windows, and attentive service. Her steamed salmon and my pan fried branzino were outstanding. I paired it with a nice Pinot Grigio. The 15 layer carrot cake was well above average, given just a little understated flavor profile, and I forgot how much I like french press coffee ;) No rushed feeling from the staff. Oh and the L shaped velour sofa seating is super comfy. You'll pay for all of this of course, but its something you must do if only for a special occasion.
I was surprised by The Source. An overrated place with too much hype this is not. And since the crowds flock to 14th Street these days, snagging a table is a breeze. The salmon salad was phenomenal — perfectly cooked and seasoned, fresh, crisp, delicious. Homemade chocolate chip cookies served warm with lunch are to die for. Service is pleasant and solicitous and the dining area is airy and bright. Loved it.
I mean this is good, but this is expensive!! In WI, a roll is only 7-8 dollars and it's the size of my hand. But the roll here is 15 dollars for a small roll, and it tastes the same. Nevertheless, it was good, but not awesome.
You can’t go wrong with the food
Excellent food, service, and drink selection. Pretty good buy for the caliber of dining you get.
Staff was super nice, food and drinks looked great, but tasted way less than what we were paying for. Biggest example we ordered the banana cream pie and got a food item that was gorgeous looking but was about the size of a roll of quarters. Additionally food took an obnoxious amount of time to get to the table.
I have never been to a restaurant where literally everything placed on the table was delicious. From the squid ink noodles to the whole duck to the chocolate soufflee, my family and I enjoyed it all! We went to celebrate two birthdays and the staff went out of their way to make it special, even the menus said "Happy Birthday" on them. Thanks to them, I not only have wonderful memories of that day, but I tried things that I would never have tried before. EDIT: Just went back this Mother's Day to celebrate a birthday. This experience was just as delightful as the first one.
Delicious and interesting combinations. Try out the chef's tasting menu for explosive bites of Asian-infused American cuisine. Atmosphere is very open and light - not very intimate, but a great spot for happy hour.
Duck for 2 was delicious. Service was exceptional.
Wonderful meal and drinks.
Too expensive for what you get. Plus they gave us the wrong plate from what we ordered
Amazing delicious food, top notch service.
Always a great experience
Amazing place, Sean is the best bartender!
One of the best restaurants in the district. I highly recommend the duck for 2. Don't be put off by the celebrity chef , what they do here is top notch.
Some of the best food you'll ever have. Get the branzino or suckling
The slices of pizza is amazing. Cute dining area perfect atmosphere for families. A little loud music, nearly can't hear anything else though. Will definitely be back
Best service and food
A great place for special events after hours! Easy to find and conveniently central to everything!
dissapointing experience. Old Fashioned was too sweet. Ordered potstickers and Vegetarian Dan Dan noodles. Potstickers where cold and Dan Dan Noodles never arrived.
Overall, this was one of the better tasting meals I've had. The restaurant deserves kudos for its flexibility within the set menu (for example, if you picked a six course menu, you could have six of the same thing, or six different things, or any mix of the foregoing). While not cheap, the pricing was not shocking. The only improvement I would suggest is that we went at the same time as the theatre crowd (while not seeing a show ourselves), and it seemed like the staff was accommodating the theatre times at the detriment to the non-theatre crowd-we waited significant times between courses.
Really wanted to give it a 4.5 star. The ambience was great and the food was well cooked in general. I usually don’t go to Asian fusion or Asian restaurant with western chef. This one seems to be an exception. After we sat down and 10 minutes went by, no one gave us menu nor water, which was extremely uncommon and surprising; but after I told them so, the service during the dinner was very good. The waiter was very patient and attentive. We ordered a duck for two and a fried rice. They first brought you the whole duck and explained how they are going to make it into two dishes. The duck was freshly cooked after we ordered and they brought it to us under 20 mins, which was very quick. The duck skin was very crispy and the duck meat was moist and tender. It went very well with the soft steam bun. The duck leg dish was kind of bland though. XO & crab meat fried rice with sweet corn was very tasty and I didn’t feel very heavy after eating it.
Used to be amazing, but has gotten worse in the last two years. Last time we went, we were the only people in the bar on a Friday. Ordered from the bar menu. The salmon cones were great, but everything else was just average. Some of the noodle dishes came out cold. Service was good.
Dim sum brunch... High-quality ingredients but flavors were not out of the ordinary. You could get more interesting and flavorful dim sum at Eden Center. Especially for the money.
AMAZING FOOD SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE, THE DUCK IS A MUST
After a visit to the Newseum, sat at the bar 5-ish p.m. and had a quick supper. The place wasn't full (yet?) but the other patrons present were almost all women near my age (50's) which made me more comfortable. The sushi was passable and my warm chicken appetizer hit the spot. Both the bartender and the hostess were friendly and helpful.
Pricy but the happy hour deal was pretty good. 3 apps for $22. The portions were small but the flavor was great.
Very friendly and attentive service. Food however was too salty and lobster was prepared with way too much sauce. (I thought lobster already had a great flavor on it's own?) Complimentary birthday dessert was really nice and we appreciated it. Overall a nice experience but someone needs to be tasting the food before it goes out.
Absolutely fantastic! The wine was great, the vegetarian food was very delicious, and the portions were reasonable and fulfilling.
My family enjoyed the food and atmosphere! Definite try when in DC
We enjoyed a special anniversary celebratory dinner last Monday night. Food was fantastic, service outstanding. They provided us with a curtained-off table for privacy, which was much appreciated. I highly recommend Marcel's for fine dining and special occasions.
Came for Saturday “brunch” and ordered 8 small plates to share between two people. The duck was not flavorful and very gamey, the shrimp and lobster spring rolls were very fishy, the chicken wontons were fine but pretty typical, the pork belly sliders had unappetizing pork in them, the fried rice was fine but not special, the Diet Coke came in a tiny glass bottle meaning no refills, and to top it off the “red miso glazed” donuts tasted like nothing but oil. I don’t know what miso even tastes like after eating these. The vanilla bean ice cream was great though.
Great bar scene!
Food and service were great! Not very crowded on weekends.
Very good, the halibut was nice and spicy. The duck was tasty and crab fried rice is a great option.
A fantastic fine dining experience. From service (Erika is the best) to the chef, this place gets what it means to be fine dining and not be pretentious. The branzino, the drunken noodles as main courses, the soup and tuna tartare as apps and the carrot cake for dessert made for a great meal. Add on the dim sum dumpling plate and this meal (with wine pairings to boot) was one of the best I've had in a long time. Will be back.
Great decor, great sushi dish, great location
Love the idea of asian tapas! Just the right amount of food and it was all delicious.
Staff are great but it’s very mediocre food. There’s so much good Asian food in DC. Don’t settle for this bland imitation. Sorry to say.
Lovely meal! The plates were a good size, I had the day's special and it was wonderful so was the dumpling dough bowl. Waiting was a bit slow but overall a great service and delicious food
The menu is varied and after hundreds of lunches and a ffew dinners I have never had anything but fine food. The service is very fast and the waiters are friendly and helpful with menu choices. They have a wide assortment of Mexican and American beers as well as a selection of cocktails and liquors in the bar. I can... More
I must say I was quite impressed with the food at The Source. I wasn't sure what to expect since it was Americanized Asian Food, but after having quite a few of the dishes, I was impressed with more than half of what I tasted. Food: Shrimp & Carrot Dumplings - This was one of our favorites. It was pretty flavorful and presentation was beautiful. The filling in the dumplings were delicious and the shrimp filling was cooked perfectly with the QQ consistency with a slight crisp you get with well-cooked shrimp. Definitely order again. Lobster & Beet Dumplings - Another highlight but a bit too oily, however quite tasty. The consistency was a but more sticky than I thought, but had a crisp outer shell, likely pan-fried in a lot of oil, but that's how it should be cooked to make it taste good! Steak & Egg Siu Mai - I was quite surprised to see a type of siu mai with steak and eggs. I actually quite enjoyed it! The steak was not overly done and was very tender. Each siu mai had a quail egg on top. I'm sure the steak was a bit prior and wrapped with a wrapper and topped with an egg and flash steamed to slightly cook the ingredients. It takes a lot of skill to get all the ingredients perfectly cooked in a steamer, so props to the chef! Lobster & Shrimp Spring Roll - A standard spring roll with seafood filling. To me, there was nothing very special, it was delicious, but it was missing a seasoning to mask some of that seafood after-taste...maybe a bit more ginger in the marinade/seasoning of the seafood? Lacquered Duck Bao Buns - I personally don't like buns, but to remain objective, it was a good dish! Duck was nice and tender and the skin was crispy and the fat was rendered off the skin very well. Great dish for those that like peking duck. Angel Wings - This was just okay. I was curious on how the wings were stuffed with shrimp and basically the wing is deboned, stuffed with a shrimp mixture, deep fried and tossed in a sweet chili sauce. I dislike the use of the sweet chili sauce and it could have been done differently for a more authentic Chinese taste. My favorite is white pepper and salt, maybe i'll get this again, minus the sauce and bring my white pepper salt seasoning I bought in Taipei. haha. Salt & Pepper Pork Chops - I really disliked this dish a lot. It came way over cooked, the meat was almost inedible and very difficult and tough to chew. The outer crust was falling apart and overall, just not that good. I have no idea what happened with this dish, but it was a complete miss/mess in my books. Seasoning was very off to the typical salt & pepper pork you get in Chinese restaurants. Like again, instead of black pepper, add white pepper, it will taste very different. The pork was also poorly cooked, or maybe use tenderloin or tenderized the meat cut that is currently used. Would definitely stay away from this dish. Vegetarian Dan Dan Noodles - It was good for Dan Dan noodles in America. I did like the noodles used and the texture was great, not overcooked at all. The flavor of the sauce was missing something and I wasn't sure what it was. But I'd still order this again. Dessert: Red Miso Glazed Doughnut with 50-bean Vanilla Ice Cream - I really enjoyed how the doughnut came out a bit warm which paired very well with the ice cream. The best out of the two desserts we had. Espresso Mousse with Condensed Milk Ice Cream - I didn't taste any of the espresso flavor in the mousse. I think the condensed milk ice cream overpowered the whole dessert and I just didn't enjoy it as much. Drink: Coffee - Great coffee, bold and strong flavor. downside, no free refills. Pomegranate and Ginger Syrup non-alcoholic drink - This was pretty good. Needed a bit more ginger, maybe ginger beer with that ginger spice to spruce it up a bit?
Great place for mother's day dim sum brunch! Very good Bloody Mary, too!
Great food. Good cocktails.
Happy 10th Anniversary. Great Good, cocktails, service & atmosphere!!! #dcwaca
Impressive Asian Fusion with happy hour specials.
All of the food choices were too spicey and didn't offer altrnatives for people that do not like spicey food. The service was very slow for there not being many people there. The waiter was rude, arrogant and condescending and made comments behind my husbands back as he walked away. It was very high price for a not so nice atmosphere and mediocre food.
I love Wolfgang Puck but this restaurant is terrible. The food is so contrived and far from authentic. Plus, it is extremely expensive. I would not recommend to any of my friends let alone a fellow foodie.
Service was exceptional. Apart from the delicious fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, the dessert (matcha cake) and coffee lacked flavor. The lamb stir fry was really good, Lo Mein, amazing shrimp and carrot dumplings. Overall, a little pricey but good food.
Seriously the best dining experience we had in DC.
Amazing meal and service! Had the Brazino, and it was simply amazing. Everything was simply on key. The waiter was amazing and never allowed neither the water or wine to be poured by us. My wife and I loved it! Wolfgang did not disappoint.
Phenomenal waiter, Andre provided excellent service and was very knowledgeable. Entrees were fantastic! Strawberry Rhubarb tart with strawberry
Best bar near the National Mall-- just behind NEWSeum, it's two blocks away from Mall. Food is typical Wolfgang. Kind of spot where bartender will give relationship advice-- and Good advice, at that.
Interesting menu with creative choices but very expensive.
Great food and service. Very friendly waiters. Would totally recommend.
High end, light but satisfying food. Top notch service from Andrey, thank you! Not cheap, but fit for a celebration. Will return.
Good food
Great food, great staff
Fantastic! A foodie paradise!!!!
The Dim Sum Plate was tasty. The Rockfish was nice and crispy but the sauce tasted like bottled Mae Ploy, which is good but it's too sweet for this dish. The Singapore Style Noodles was too sweet, I couldn't finish the bowl. My guest had the Duck Curry, said it was "wet Pad Thai". Great service. It's expensive.
Flavors that thrill as true culinary art. I must go back. Enjoyed the lounge environment and the staff was very pleasant.
Really great brunch...wontons and dumplings...yummy!
We ordered several plates and it was all excellent. Well presented and flavorful.
This restaurant is Asian-themed, and best enjoyed by seafood lovers, but it also treats vegetarians well. It's a Wolfgang Puck restaurant right behind the Newseum. He has a lot of restaurants, but I did get to meet him here once, so he cares enough to visit occasionally. They also provide decent wine selections and pairings.
Wow! All of the food was amazing from the pan fried scallion rolls to the humungous pork chop served with the tastiest relish on top. The service was topnotch with a very attentive wait staff.
Food and service was amazing
I grabbed a bite to eat at the bar during happy hour. The food selections were great and priced right. The drinks were delicious as well and Brock, the bartender, was outstanding.
Came here for a sushi demonstration. Chef Russell was an amazing instructor and an even more spectacular chef. The food was absolutely delicious and the selections he made spot on.
Great happy hour menu and wine and beer reasonably priced at $5-6. WP outstanding service and food. Comfortable and always delicious food.
My wife and I came here for our first anniversary and could not have been more happy with this place as our choice! They put us in a quieter area of the restaurant and the waiter made many suggestions, none of which were the more expensive dishes, and all of which were incredible. We will definitely be visiting this place again next time we are in Washington D.C. It's an expensive place but it gets 5 stars because I feel it was worth every penny.
Full duck on Saturday...yes
Nice combination of textures: crispy and soft . Some spice but not excessive. More Asian than anything else. Staff are friendly but not experts (in the wine for example). Well stocked bar.
Came here for dinner with another family. We were 7 in total. We started with a dumpling sampler for everyone that was delicious and then moved on to 3 mains: the duck, the Dan Dan noodles and the whole fish. The duck was amazing and not to be missed if you go there. The dumplings were also excellent. All that said, this is an expensive dinner. Worth it but more for a special occasion place than a standard dinner place.
Great food, great view and sensational dessert. 3 course meal was wonderful - tuna tartar, salmon and mango coconut cake. The flavors mixed well with the wine pairing. I left with full stomach an empty wallet.
Having anniversary dinner here, Really awesome fusion experience. If u are used to traditional Chinese food u can try this out, definitely gotta bring some new element to that
I generally hate the pricy small plates concept (it better be absolutely amazing when you charge so much for so little food). However, this place really delivers. Everything is so delicious I'll break my usual rule. For a dinner experience order the whole roast duck, which comes as a series of small dishes each using different parts of the bird. Clever. Just expect to pay $$$ if you want to leave with a full stomach.
I want to give this restaurant 5*, but there is a serious flavor issue here. They are overcompensating for the main parts of the dishes with too many spices. The steak, for example, had too much salt and other spices. The “don don” noodles (maybe tan tan noodles is better) was way over spiced. I don’t mean heat spice, but flavor. Just be prepared.
