Food was good. It was affordable. However, the service was not up to par. We were seated and given the chips and salsa. Our waiter did not come back to get our order for sometime. I actually thought they forgot that we were sitting there. The waiter finally came took our order, did not see him again until the food arrived and then he left and did not return until we went looking for the bill.

So sad. This place used to be our go to Mexican restaurant in the area. Today, we went in a little after 1pm. We waited 10 mins until a server came with water and chips. Waited almost 40 mins for appetizer and main course to come out, and what made it worse was NOBODY stopped by to refill water/chips/salsa while we waited 40 mins. We also ordered a side of guacamole and it was very brown. I mean VERY brown to the point it was disgusting. I asked for a replacement and voila, it was nice and green. I usually go to this restaurant during busier time and still had been getting faster and better services. Today was exceptionally bad. I tried to resolve the issue while we were at the restaurant by requesting to talk with a manager/supervisor however they didn't even make an effort to try to connect me with him/her which led me to leave this 1 star review. 40 mins wait to even get appetizers out with no services/communication in between is unacceptable regardless of how busy you were. Very disappointing experience considering this restaurant has always been our go to in town.

My husband was born and raised in Mexico (it's important to say that to give you perspective), and this is our go-to Mexican restaurant in the Covington-Auburn-Kent area. Drinks are yummy, food is great, and service is anywhere from good to great (depending on the server). Try the carne asada soup... It's our favorite!

Worst service and food. This was my favorite restaurant, but not anymore. They are good about 5% of the time, and really bad 95% of the time. The chips were old and stale, and they couldn’t get our order right again. We will go to Azteca the next time we want Mexican food.

Ordered to go and paid extra for chips and salsa. I left a 5 star review the first time but now I'll change it to 1 since you didn't give us any extra salsa and 2 bags of chips. Then my meal didn't come with corn tortillas or beans. Just rice. Like did them even tell the cooks what I ordered? Take your time and understand what the customer wants because i spent 50 bucks for a 30 dollar meal if that. Thank you.

Super expensive for what you get. There were no prices on the drink menu, so I had to ask the price of everything I was considering before I could order. They also make most of their cocktails with mixto tequila, which is awful and certainly not worth what they charge for it.

The seafood chimichangas were tiny and brown inside. When we asked if we got the right meal, the waiter laughed and said it was ground seafood. It was horrible. Also asked for no lime in a drink and every time it was served with a lime. The waiter just laughed. What would happen if you truly had an allergy?

The chips and salsa were great. I got the veggie quesadilla and it was delicious, if messy to eat. Handmade tortillas! Friend's taco salad was good too. Only giving 4 stars as I didn't order a margarita, so can't judge that. Service was perfect, as was the atmosphere. I was traveling, but would definitely return when in the area. (Right near the Costco)

Clearly misunderstood my order. I wanted meat and vegetables , fajitas, for some reason ended up with mysterious vegetable protein dish. Sort of ruined my diet day. Then a roach came to visit us in our booth. Staff seemed like they wanted to leave, not serve. No longer my choice in Covington.

Puerto Vallarta is a great Mexican food chain in the PNW. The food is always satisfactory and so is the service. Their drink menu is very extensive and has plenty to choose from. The restaurants have a lot of decor and fun theme.

I went there to meet a girl friend for dinner. I asked if there were any specials in the bar where the Mariners were on the TV. I was told no...turned out there were drink 'and' food specials. But went to the restaurant side. Water was on the table. We asked for lemon...didn't get it. We asked for extra napkins since we used ours for the chips and salsa....had to ask a second time. When we ordered. We asked if they would split a meal for us (Arroz Con pollo). She said yes but she brought only one plate. Someone came by to fill our water glasses and again we asked for lemon. Again, we didn't get it. Needless to say. The tip wasn't 20%! On the way out, no one said thank you. We did talk to a manager and, although pleasant, just said she appreciated us telling her.

I knew this place was going to be great as soon as we sat down. They brought us fresh tortilla chips with 4 different types of salsa and bean dips, just at the warm up! The portions were generous and everything was delicious. Even our picky kids enjoyed the food. We will definitely be back.

As stated the salsa is pretty good so off to a good start 50% of the chips were stale and the other 50% were light and crispy.. In the same basket. The food though is so generic with piles of cheap iceberg lettuce and mealy tomatoes. They appear to be going to lower quality food stuffs to maintain that $14.99 price point while still filling the plate. Not tolerable to eat though hardly. Ground beef (which I didn't order) was taco bell grade at best. I will not be back ; that's for sure.

The waitress took my cc into the back to ring out my bill.... but what I didn't know was that she took front & back pictures of my card and texted them to a bunch of her friends down in Chino California a few days before new years Eve. Next thing I know, there's over $800 worth of Domino's pizza and Netflix.

They messed up my whole order, I specifically said to leave off one thing that I was allergic to and they left everything off and gave me A TON of that. When I said I couldn't eat it, they offered to pick it off for me. Never got the avocados that came with it, got charged a ridiculous amount for a spoonful of sour cream that was smeared on a plate and given to me just before we left even though I ordered it with my food. The waiter was polite but just didn't listen and wasn't very good. Never going there again.

If I could go negative I would be a negative 3. To start off to walk in to a empty restaurant at 2pm. We order are food witch was chicken and carne asada after a good half hour to 45 min wait for are food that came out luke warm. For the time we waited for it it felt like we were fed some warm up chiken from last night and beef jerkey. It bad when you leave a restaurant still hungry.

I'd had a terrible day/week/month (take your pick, all of the above) and wanted something quick, easy, and relatively healthy. I was in the mood for Mexican, so I went in and ordered Shrimp Fajitas to go. Service was lacking....it took me a while to just track someone down at the front. When I did finally get someone to help me, they didn't seem like they were happy to do so. The one good thing was that my to go was pretty quick to come out of the kitchen. When I got it home, however, it was bland, tasteless mush. Both shrimp and vegetables had no spice or flavor. I was so looking forward to a delicious meal and was so disappointed. Even the tortillas weren't that great. I've been in a couple of other times and had the same experience....very poor service, and the food couldn't make up for it. Even Los Cabos over by Fred Meyer is better.

This was our first time eating at this location and It was disappointing. The restaurant wasn't busy at all but food and drinks both took a long time to come out. My food was fine but my sons burrito was way overcooked and he asked for a side of beans for his chips that he never received but we were charged for. Staff were polite and restaurant was clean.

My friend's and I stopped in to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered two rounds of tequila. The first round was expensive tequila as a celebration. The second round was bottom shelf tequila. When we got the bill, we noticed that we were charged for two rounds of the expensive tequila at $11 a shot. When I asked out server/bartender, Odilma, to correct what I figured was a simple mistake, she immediately got defensive. She insisted that we served two rounds of the expensive tequila, when that was simply not true. Still, she refused to correct our bill. Not wanting to put a further damper on my friend's birthday, I paid the overcharged bill and we left. Odilma's behavior made it seem as though she intentionally over charged us, thinking we would not notice, and that it was not by mistake. Very disappointing. My friend's and I will not be returning to this establishment.

I visited this restaurant for the first time 2weeks ago. It was mid afternoon the place wasn't busy at all. I was quickly seated. I was then presented with a heaping bowl of fresh chips and salsa which I loved. I ordered my go to fav- chimicanga with ground beef and rice and beans. The meal arrived later than sooner. I did not like the appearance of the wet red sauce draped over my chimicanga- the purpose of the sauce I don't know it's tasteless. So I added my usual sauce and things to enhance the flavor. I might go back and just try the taco bar that looks pretty good and price is great to 8 something. All u can eat.

Meeting my sons girlfriends folks as the Puerto staff serve up an authentic Mexican feast as we shared stories & got to know each other. They graciously served our table, keeping us in salsa, chips, drinks & personalized dishes. A Phine job folks as we broke ... we broke ... wind (?) and having met a new family over a fine local restaurant... our server Pedro did a wonderful keeping things all straight ...Good Job Guys !

TERRIBLE SERVICE! First, we go to be seated and there are smaller booths to the left with 2-3 patrons each, and then larger booths to the right with 2-3 patrons each and only one booth with a family of 4. Several open booths on both sides, and they decide to seat our family of 4 on the smaller booth side. We immediately ask to be moved so we can have some more elbow room. After ordering, it took 25 minutes for our food to arrive! I’ve never had Mexican food take longer than 8-10 mins. # of times our waitress checked on us before AND after being served our food: 0 # of times our water was refilled after being served: 0 # of times our soft drinks were refilled: 0 We waited another 10 mins after finishing before having to flag down another waitress in order to get our check. SHE asked how everything was, and we said “not great.” My wife then went on to explain how her Arroz con Pollo was more like Arroz con mushrooms con onions con tomatoes con green onions with a dash of pollo. I’ve never seen Arroz con Pollo prepared like this before. The backup waitress asked if she could bring us a dessert on the house, but we were ready to leave because our kids were restless at this point. I thought maybe our waitress’s shift was over for the night and she forgot to transfer tables. No. On the way out, she was sitting by the front door, chatting and laughing with the other waitresses. Over an hour ordeal for Mexican food, which is abnormal. It’s usually very quick, which is why we chose it. We’ve had decent experiences here in the past. We wanted to try out the other Mexican restaurant across the parking lot, but we decided to go with what we were used to. We will probably never go back because of this one experience.

Stopped in last night with a friend for a quick bite. The service was absolutely horrible. I do not eat meat so I order bean tacos and a side of beans and rice. My rice had a couple of chicken bones in it so out of curiosity I asked our server if they use chicken in their rice. He said they use a chicken powder. When I showed him the bones and asked why would these be in there then his reply was ‘next time let us know you don’t eat meat and we will be more careful.’ No apology, no explanation nothing. To top it all off, there wasn’t even a manager on duty for me to speak to? I ended up tipping the bus boy since he was the only one that gave us any kind of service or common courtesy.

Let me first say, I am never one to complain or make reviews, but this was our first (and last) time ratting at this restaurant. The server was nice, but the whole everyone was just so odd. My boyfriend ordered a soft taco & an enchilada, and I ordered the low calorie Carne Asada - which I was so looking forward to. When we finally received any food, my boyfriend was served and then another 7 minutes later I finally received mine, and the carne asada was literally cold, not warm, or room temperature, but cold. Now, I will say, it was flavorful, but it also lacked that signature grilled green onion (which I happen to like). When I asked if it was possible to get that (since I'm already paying $13 for a child carne asada) the server brought me the most ridiculous scraping of weird green onions on a side plate - that was literally ice cold. My boyfriend seriously thought they took them off of other plates that were cleared from some other table. I honestly wish I had taken a picture, it was comical. My water was never refilled. It took forever to get our bill, and again, not really being one to usually complain, this whole bad experience just demanded a review. Will not be back.
