This Restaurant is classified in the category of Pacific Northwest restaurant (US).
We sat at the bar and had the mussels in wine sauce. It exceeded all expectations. Visited another highly rated restaurant in another harbor for lunch and had the mussels there. Just not as good a Prima's. Went back and had them or dinner. Absolutely exquisite. Simple and let's the taste of the mussels shine through. Their bread is world class. The French fries are just as good.
Meh. Good service. Mediocre food. Kinda pricey for the quality.
As always, great service, good food, well crafted cocktails. Great meal sitting out on the terrace in happy sunshine. A must for every visitor to Whidbey İsland.
Loads of options for entrees and small/shareable plates. Our wait staff was quick to ask about allergies in the party and offered good advice on choices.
Awesome view and good service. A little pricy but it's Langley, I knew what I was signing up for.
First place we come when we're on the island. Food and service are great. I personally recommend the duck confit and the mussels with fries
Great food and atmosphere!
We had gourmet hamburgers that were unique and tasty
Great food. Menu has a French bent but there is something for everyone, even if you think you don't like French. Very willing to modify for customer's nedds. Food and service are consistently top notch.
Cute French-inspired bistro with lovely seafood. We only managed to try the lunch menu, which was tasty, but had smaller portions. Will need to return in the evening for the full dinner menu. Great place to relax with some wine and admire the views.
Super good food. High end place.
This place is way too expensive and not that good.if you go to Brighton island for the whale watching you should probably go to the pizzeria.
I have been here a few times when I visit Langley and it is a small 2nd story jewel of a restaurant. They obviously work very hard in providing unique dishes that would be on par with any upscale restaurant in Chicago. I have always had great service as well.
Great view and great staff. Summer evenings under the heaters on the patio and they will offer you a blanket if the breeze kicks up. The kids and I go for dessert on a regular basis and the s'mores cake and flourless orange chocolate cake are the tops. Steak frites and any of the house cocktails will serve you well. The bar is a squeeze so show up early or late.
Great food and service with a roof-top deck.
Good food and atmosphere.
Worth visiting for the happy hour menu. The service was excellent and very quick.
Had a lovely lunch in Langley! Will go back next time we're on the island
$$$ An excellent meal with excellent beverages. Quite French. Phenominal view of "the Sound". If you are travelling Whidbey, the Langley town center has a lot of accessible shops, views and stroll so you can make your Prima Bistro visit complete.
Lovely menu. Great bar staff and amazing ragu short rib. Strong Old Fashioned.
Upon arrival the staff was very friendly.got a seat right next to the window, food was great couldn't be better... even on a busy Memorial Day!
Great food in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, plus a fantastic rooftop patio. Glad we stopped in!
This is a pretty nice place. Outdoor seating with a nice view, blankets and heaters when it is cold. Seafood is fresh; the trout, clams and chorizo, and crab were our favorites. While the food is certainly of high quality, it is priced to match and is by no means the best seafood. Service is friendly and we did not feel rushed at all. Beer selection is limited to 5 or so taps. Wine selection is extensive.
We made the mistake of thinking we could just waltz into one of Langley's restaurants at 6:30 on a Saturday night in April and be seated fairly quickly. NOPE. Both Prima Bistro and Cafe Langley next door had an hour-long wait list. So if you have your heart set on eating here, make reservations! Or else you'll stand in the stairwell for an hour and end up sitting in the very back, next to the kitchen. By the time we were finally seated, we were starving and immediately ordered the chicken liver mousse starter ($7.50). It comes in a short glass jar with five thin slices of grilled bread, which seemed a little skimpy -- and they don't serve complimentary bread and butter ($1.50). But the mousse was creamy, flavorful, and a good size for two to share (though I think I'd recommend getting some extra bread). I asked the server about the difference in size between the seafood small plates and entrees, because many of them are the same, and I was glad I did, because I would have ordered WAY too many mussels. The small-plate size ($12.50) is about 3/4 lb, a good-sized entree, and is served in a cute little cast-iron Dutch oven. The mussels were good, but nothing was original or noteworthy in the preparation. It doesn't come with anything, but you can order a side of shoestring fries for $4 more. The fries came in a BIG basket and would have been plenty for two people. I thought they were very oversalted and borderline inedible, so it was kind of a waste -- I definitely should have gotten the bread to dip into the mussel broth! My dining companion got the hangar steak frites ($26.50), on our server's advice, and it too came with a big pile of super-salty shoestring fries (but his came with a delicious gorgonzola-y bearnaise dip that made all the difference). The "medium rare" was seared outside and purpley-red inside with lots of blood. This was perfect for us, but if that makes you queasy, you might err on the side of a little more well-done than you'd normally order. The meat was very juicy and flavorful with or without the dipping sauce. The house red was a good-sized pour, but took so long that we thought our server had forgotten it -- my dining companion was halfway through his steak by the time the wine finally came. Oddly, the lunch menu seems to be the dinner menu (same prices) plus some under-$20 sandwiches. So you won't necessarily save any money by coming here for lunch. The best way to try their menu may be by sharing a few small plates and then a bigger, shareable entree-sized dish. A solid 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 because I wasn't expecting much from Langley's restaurant options. "But that's a Langley 4, not a Seattle 4," as my dining companion said. It's a decent place with good food, somewhat high prices, and slightly disorganized service, but if you're looking for more date-night ambiance than the local pizzeria, this is the place.
A great place for a drink and something delicious to eat
Great service and stellar food! We had to wait a bit for our table to be ready on NYE and the owner bought us a round of drinks. Everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was DELICIOUS!! The menu is both creative and comforting, highlighting classic French bistro favs. We’ll definitely be back!
Good wine tasting
Great food, location, staff,outside deck.
If you want great service and great food. The food at this place speaks for itself, then add amazing cocktails, chill-friendly service. They are doing it right at prima
Was super busy on a sunny Thursday night, so we ate at the bar to avoid the wait for a patio table. Had some local white wine. I had the rissoto and my wife had the trout. Both meals were very good. The bartender, Clare, was screaming busy but kept us entertained during the meal. Very good overall.
Still consistently mediocre.
Every in Langley, do yourself the service of enjoying meal here. Check it the online menu. Tartare wonderful GF squid. Yep.
Great wine! David the owner was very sharp and very nice.
Had the bouillabaisse, it was cold, otherwise it tasted good, cute place nice deck
Didn't know what to expect on a Wednesday evening in Langley but I'm am glad we stopped. I had the trout (I know it's not a coastal saltwater fish) and it was delicious. My wife had the risotto and we had the chocolate cake smores and ice cream which was made entirely from scratch. The staff was great and the French inspired northwest cuisine went very well together.
Good food reasonably priced wouldn't come back in a hurry!
Good food
Definitely our favorite place on Whidbey! Duck fried potatoes and Mussels for starters - both were delicious, seasoned well and cooked perfectly! Coq Au Vin was an epic story in a bowl; chicken and duck perfectly cooked moist with crisp skin! The potatoes, mushrooms, and bacon along with the broth was the definition of comfort!
Great menu and the service was amazing!
Had a wonderful dinner, our first time at the Bistro. Great food, live music... We'll be back and often!
Charming, lovely place with water views in Langley. Best croque madame on the planet! Food is always spectacular. Our favorite Island place.
Prima Bistro is the best restaurant in Langley! My family has been coming here for years and they never disappoint. The Tartare de Boeuf, Penn Cove Clams & Chorizo and the Salad Nicoise are all solid choices. On a nice day definitely try to sit on the deck! Also check out their new sister restaurant Saltwater next door for a more seafood focused menu.
We really LOVED this place. Went with a large group so tried most of the menu. The highlights were the calamari, duck fat fries , muscles and chicken liver mousse. Really everything we ate was great and the staff was wonderful too!
I thought this bistro was very nice! It is a bit spendy, but it's completely worth it! We had a little bit of a wait and they took our phone number which allowed us to go out and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the ocean before dinner. Their fried cashews were very tasty, spicy, but tasty. I had the lamb chops which with the lavender were so amazing and my husband had one of their burgers which he said was the best he had ever had. Definitely a good experience for us!
Love this place, we try to eat here every time we are in Langley!
We came on a tour boat and the place was packed. They handled the rush very well. We were served within 15 min of ordering sandwiches of the grill. The staff was friendly and efficient. The prices were good too.
Great deck in the summer.
Delicious pizza!
Prima Bistro is always fabulous! We love the food and the amazing people who serve us.
Good place for a view and lunch. The rueben was a bit greasy but the French fries were good.
Food is write good. A bit pricey. We love the lamb burger. Yum!
Definitely try and make a reservation for the patio if you are going during summer. Above average food, friendly service.
Its known for its sea food and cocktails. One of the very few places which is open till past 10:30pm in langley.
My girlfriend and I were re-seated 3 times. Then finaly offered a seat but by then we figured it would be in a back room closet. Very rude, we obviously didn't fit into their white pant suit tourist quota (my girlfriend is asian) So embarrassing to us in front of everyone there to be treated so poorly
The food is delicious, service was great! Our server was super friendly and welcoming, gave some ideas on what we could eat, was very knowledgeable about their wines and specials. It's a cute little place with great views for a quick lunch or romantic dinner
Went here for lunch while visiting family. Great view from our table. The food was very good. Had the soup, ceasar salad and mussels. Everything was very tasty. Definitely reccomend when in the area.
Some of the things were great, some were not. The clams and chorizo, the oysters, and mussels were great. The lamb burger, prawns, lamb and noodles, not so much.
BOMB. I've worked lots of fine dining and this place, wow. Great ambiance, view, food, coffee, wine. Don't go here! I want to get in again!
Always leave disappointed. Not bad. Just not really goo enough. Of course where else is any better in Langley? Sadly not much to choose from.
Delicious! Brought a group of friends and everyone raved about their meals. My fave was the lamb burger... Yum!
Had a very average experience that was leaning toward disappointed. We came and had some drinks for happy hour and fried and the fried cauliflower. Our service was average, the waitress didn't seem like she had or wanted to take the time to give us service. We got oysters, trout, and the rock fish. The rock fish was bland and the oysters didn't taste fresh but the trout was fine. Overall wouldn't come back
This is a really nice upper class sit-down restaurant option in the area! We had a very big group of nine people which, due to space limitations, didn't have many seating options but they did their best to accommodate us and provided blankets for outdoor seating when it got cold! The food all came at a reasonable time and the appetizers were absolutely delicious. The servers were all very friendly and attentive, and gave very good recommendations! The mussels were honestly the best, which are plentiful and flavorful and the white wine seafood broth that they sit in is absolutely amazing to soak up with bread! The crispy trout was also fantastic, which was covered in such a flavorful and fragrant oil, salty Capers, and a crispy delicate fried skin! Also particularly enjoyed the vegetable risotto which was so nice on a chilly night and Incredibly rich and creamy! They were out of several appetizers that we wanted to try but will definitely come back again earlier!
High end, classy expensive menu. Food was quite delicious, the pork belly practically a sinful experience in fat and taste, however my medium rare steak cooked itself up to medium while I waited 15 min for a glass of pinot noir to pair with my steak. Server never checked on me again once I got my food, and the ambience is anything but high class. Was odd to view such a hoity toity food/wine selection and deal with lots of noise and a table full of bratty children next to me. Won't be returning here on my next trip. I expect an atmosphere suited to the meal when I'm paying that much.
Positively delightful dining experience! Relax on the deck with the Humdinger for cocktail hour while watching gorgeous sunset over the sound. I highly recommend the tarragon pickle & fried cashews to accompany your cocktail. For the main you can't go wrong with the grilled to perfection Steak Frittes. Finish off your meal with the Grand Marnier Creme Brulee. The staff was superb! Friendly and very knowledgable about each item on the menu. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Been here a couple of times now and as long as you can get a table, you can expect a great experience that is a notch or two above typical Whibey Island fare. Food is great. The staff is accommodating, intelligent, and friendly. Lastly there's a pretty spectacular view of the water from many of the tables so the overall experience is amazing. If you're going out in Langley, don't miss it.
Unique little gourmet bistro on South Whidbey with a European cafe feel
I was expecting something amazing from all the great reviews. I wasn't overly impressed with the food at all. There was also a strong cleaning product smell in the restaurant which is good that they clean, but bad for the dining experience. 2 stars only because staff were friendly.
Great upscale food and service. Gorgeous view from patio.
Went here for dinner, and though we had more people join our party midway through our meal (who were a bit difficult), the staff handled it without even a hesitation. Incredibly accommodating. Our dinner was quite good as well. Really enjoyed the rooftop view and ambience. Would go again if ever back on the island!
Quiet room, comprehensive wine list and a classic French menu - all the favorites with local seafood extras. Recommended.
First and foremost, $$$ That being said, it is worth the money! I would go back just for the charcuterie tray! It was superb! I opted for the lamp chops, which arrived expertly cooked and beautifully prepared with a fried cornmeal wedge, which sounds weird, but tastes good! Also my first time eating snails, and surprisingly they were REALLY DELICIOUS! 10/10 would recommend!
Good food with vegan options, and a fruit bar!
Great menu, and wonderful specials. A little pricey but still a favorite. Make reservations if you don't want to wait. I've enjoyed the Trout, the Mussels, the Beet Salad, and many different and interesting specials and soups. Their is a upstairs patio in the summer, and a great bar that fills up fast with friendly staff. Clean bathrooms.
Fantastic! The menu was unique. The server was efficient, and the food was great.
Beautiful views from the rooftop terrace and delicious food make this place a go-to spot in Langley
Fabulous as always Heidi
Wife's curry carrot soup was delicious and flavorful. Veal noodles were good. Trout was sweet and tasty, but way too heavy on oil/butter for me. Seating near view windows significantly better than that tucked back near the bar.
The Prima Bistro is one of my guilty pleasures. Though it may be a little pricey, I just appreciate the quality that they put into each and every dish. I also love the originality, uniqueness, and bold flavors of their recipes. I also love the effortless but classy ambience of the restaurant. Everything about it just feels incredibly genuine. Love this place and would recommend highly to just about anyone.
4 stars on food quality. However, portions are small.
Best Ruben that I've had in years and my wife had the trout, that was unbelievable. It was a sunny day in the low 80, so we set on the outside patio and enjoyed the view of Puget sound from south Whidbey Island.
Great variety, excellent quality with unusual offerings and with great service.
Fantastic food. Great wines by the glass. Streak frites, pan chicken. sit at the bar. Friendly and intelligent bartender.
Love Prima. If you want consistently great food then visit Prima. The staff is awesome, the owners are awesome, the food is delicious.
I had the prawns and the side salad and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. The prawns' sauce was made with honey, truffle oil, and nuts and the flavor mix blew my mind! The side salad had the softest greens I've had in the US, and the salad sauce gave the salad a great taste. In combination with the prawns, it was amazing! Totally recommend it!
Our favorite spot for lunches and dinners in Langley. Keep in mind this is a French Inspired restaurant, so it's not necessarily a vegetarian's dream. But it is yummy. And service is very nice and friendly.
I've never had a bad experience there. Beautiful bar, the food is fantastic, they are not a french fry place but their fries are my absolute favorite style, not to mention delicious. The service is always above par they know their menu inside out. The deck is killer in the summertime that you've been give the ladies blankets when the night chill comes in. Outstanding restaurant.
French inspired pacific northwest cuisine that has us always coming back for more. The clams and chorizo are great (and spicy!), the escargot comes in a wonderful sauce, the bread is fresh and tastey, and the salt-crusted fish is mouth-watering. They also have a large wine selection, including from local wineries.
Beautiful restaurant, great food and nice cozy atmosphere. Price i thought was fair for how good the food was also the area is located is perfect for a nice walk. Highly recommend!!!
Meh
Fantastic views if you can get out on the deck in summer or at one of the front windows! The food is amazing and the service is great. Try some cocktails from the best bar in town!
My favorite. Steak Frites. Langley favorite
Lovely atmosphere good view, and food plus value at this cute spot
Food was decent. Slightly overpriced, portions on the leaner side. Noise level was quite high.
Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere.
Perfect place for lunch and enjoying Langley
Good food and location, limited vegetarian options
Prima Bistro is a sure bet for well executed, imaginative preparations in Langley. Reservations are a must I the summer!
This place is Incredible. Hi-quality french cuisine in a waterfront setting. I am going there again tomorrow!
The atmosphere was lovely; the service great and the food delicious. Plus, we saw whales across the street!
Way overrated for price
This is an excellent small restaurant in downtown Langley. It has a beautiful view of the Saratoga Passage from it's patio. The atmosphere is comfortable and scenic. The service was good. The food is excellent. Much of it is influenced by classic French cooking; but, there is a definite American touch. The quality of the food is very good. The prices are surprising reasonable considering the menu and quality of food. Definitely good value for the money.
Great food, great views, great service.
Worth the wait and the price. Sit at the bar while you wait, you will not be disappointed. Lots seasonal dishes, fantastic drinks, and good service. Find a seat outside if the weather is warm. Try the lamb burger. You won't regret it. And the s'mores pie is excellent! Order it at least 30 min ahead of time. They prepare it from scratch.
Very good lamb burger, however the fish was a bit bland.
We've dined at Prima Bistro many times, and keep coming back for more. All the staff are marvelous - efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food is terrific, and many selections change with the seasons. The Friday/Saturday night specials are hard to turn down. The wine and beer selections are wonderful, and the cocktails are fabulous - best Moscow Mule I've fund anywhere. I've given up ordering one unless I'm at Prima.
Really nice calamari and happy hour red. Lovely space with comfortable vibe and views.
Pork belly and french onion soup we're amazing. Kevin will take good care of you at the bar.
Exquisite! Such great quality food and ingredients and a wonderful ambience! Beautiful view of the Sound too. Highly recommend
Great oysters here, along with some interesting entrees. Specials rotate on a regular basis Seafood and land based entr ees are equally well prepared
Good food, good service and sitting on the outside deck is special.
Loved the unique variety of menu. Had fried cashews and three small plates which were exceptional. Bar and wine lust extensive.
Happy hour on the outdoor deck overlooking the Saratoga Bay. Kishi oysters from BC, escargots with a demi baguette, steamed mussels and amazing Jeremy, outstanding and knowledgeable taking care of us. Professional courtesy to the 10th degree in 70 degree sunshine at 4:30pm
Good good and friendly service. Want to go back to check out the pork belly.
Friendly, amazing food, great service.
Well worth the hype. We had the duck potatoes, truffle prawns, boar and molten cake. Everything was amazing, especially the prawns. Will be back when we are in the area again . Must try!
Great place for fine dining.
They have an amazing lamb burger!
James, the server, is the most kind person. A credit to the restaurant. We were going in for wine and appetizers, unfortunately I suddenly felt very ill at the top of the steps. James immediately came to us to inquire if he could help. With kind words and 2 glasses of ice water. We were able to continue to the ferry. We will be back again soon! Love the delicious food.wine and great service. Thank you again James!!
