REVIEWS OF Maximilien Restaurant IN Washington

Chris Walters

I usually only write good reviews. This is not one of them. Service was terrible. Food was terrible. Atmosphere is great. My husbands food came out 20 minutes before mine did. He tried to wait for mine, but he finally had to eat before his food got cold. But the WORST part of the whole "dining experience" was watching the cheese station guy, whose job it was to put melted cheese, carved from a big block melted under a heat lamp onto individual entrees. He was directly in front of us and he stuffed his mouth full of cheese with his gloved hands repeatedly and then went back to putting cheese on the entrees without ever changing gloves. When I say repeatedly, I mean at least ten different times while I videotaped him. Never again. Ugh.

Jared DeLoach

Had a pleasant first visit here with my wife.we only came in for a drink so we sat at the bar. Joe the bartender was very good and friendly. He even made me a custom mule drink so I could try something different. It was very tasty. Will not hesitate to come back and sample morebof their menu.

Bryan Pendz

Nice hideaway spot

Service was great, views were great, flourless chocolate cake was great, drinks were great, souffle was eggy, was just ok.

Champagne Bubbles

Stopped in for brunch on Sunday & the view, lighting, service & ambiance were fabulous. The food and drink offerings were excellent and it wasn't very busy despite the location in the Pike Place Market.

Rob Galus

Great food. Excellent spot for a special evening!

Ronnie A

The food was really good. The view was amazing. It was nice and not packed for brunch during a day when the Seahawks were playing in town.

Graham Abbott

Amazing food and amazing views!

CC CC

Super nice ambience, very French. The patio has a view to the water. Staff is well trained and friendly and the food here is delicious with a wine list that will please.

Ryan Gay

Maybe we went at a bad time, but the wait staff was not friendly. Cheese plate was overpriced.

Zen Zoo

Great food, fancy atmosphere without being pompous. Went for the restaurant week, a good way to sample their menu.

Greg beasley

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Not only was the food excellent, but the ambience was just as good. The view was outstanding as was the service!

BAGARAM Martin

This is a hard place to grade. Here is why it's 3

Kara Beharry

The duck was amazing. As well as the foie gras. The seafood though, was not all that great. It was a bit bland. The restaurant is very tiny. Does not hold a great deal of people. You get amazing views of the water. Perfect place for a romantic night.

Peter Spellman

This place was awesome. Beautiful view andcDavid is a great bartender... Thanks David my last night before I went back to Korea.

Ashton Davis

Absolutely mind boggling food. As someone who travels for a living and eats in a lot of expensive restaurants, I found Maximilien to be reasonably priced, not pretentious, and down right delicious. I couldn't recommend it enough. The rack of lamb was the best I've ever had. This is a must try in Seattle!

Mykola Pavliuchenkov

Awesome place: great view, delicious food and wines, good service... and fair price.

Donn Roberts

Excellent food and service.

Terrible Drivers

It was okay. Views are breathtaking, but most are in Seattle. Took about 10 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us, another 10 to get menus at water. Food was good, nothing mind blowing. All said, including the price, will likely be looking at other options moving forward, really wasnt impressed

Corey Terry

Great service! Especially by the bartender.

Carlos Engels

Beautiful place with good drinks

Javier

Good food. Awful tiny table upstairs, after long wait. Very expensive!

Little expensive, but food is very good! Nice view!

Jason Willeford Kastrinos

Good food/drinks and a great view!

James Hanges

One of my favorite places in Pike Place Market. Great views and great service

Roland Le Franc

We enjoyed so much the food, very French style and good all across the board. Service was also good. As French people from Paris now living in the Pacific North West, I can attest this is a top restaurant in the Seattle area.

Mark DeMan

Excellent moules. Very French. Unexpected nice restaurant in the midst of giant tourist trap...Pike Place Market

Matt McNutt

Amazing French seafood. Their seafood chowder blew us away. Everything was seasoned just right. Phenomenal experience

Robyn Seely

Pros: Lovely view of the sunset over the water, wonderful scallops with green pea puree. Cons: Pretentious host, terrible creme brulee.

David Simpson

Nice spot. Average food and service.

Kelsi Stull

Terrible service! We stood at the hostess stand while multiple people walked by without acknowledging we were even there. Once we were finally seated we got minimal service. our waiter was quite short and snappy when we asked for drink suggestions. I would save your money and go elsewhere!!!

Loralee Pilon

Food was delicious, especially the baguettes and butter. All bread products we had were very flavorful. My sandwich was pretty messy, a side dish wasn't delivered on time; we had to remind the waiter about it. Everything else was lovely. Would return.

Rae Massie

Yummy flourless chocolate cake! The best I had so far

Sandra Martin

Fabulous views. Great spot to enjoy local penn cove muscles.

Koko Clémence Lawson

The view with the delicious food combine is like a perfect symphony

David Levy

So yes .its worth the price. The food is consistently amazingly great. The beef medallions and the duck are my favorite. The service is outstanding. Special occasions or anything its worth it

Erika Lange

Amazing french cuisine, I felt like I was back in France. Definitely worth the price!

Summer Davis

Food: amazing. As a former professional chef, I'm not easily impressed. I could have kissed the chef (I didn't). Ambience: incredibly romantic. We (my boyfriend and I) went for Valentine's, but we celebrated on the 13th. Beautiful views, french music, polite and inconspicuous waiters with gentle French accents. Wait staff: our waiter was excellent. He asked us if we'd like a table with a better view when one opened up, gave us incredible suggestions, and was attentive but not overbearing. In addition, we asked for our dessert to go, as the restaurant was closing soon and we didn't want to stay past then. He responded by sincerely telling us that we could stay as late as we'd like, and he'd be happy to take care of us. I wish I had a better option than just five stars. This was probably the absolute best dining experience I've ever had. What we ordered: Escargots, french onion soup, Les Coquilles Saint-Jacques, duck, crème brûlée, and an inventive ice cream dish. There was not a single flaw in anything we were served. I can't recommend this restaurant enough--I only wish I could remember our waiter's name.

Ali Sadeghian

The food is totally average for the price, but the service for a place considered to be high class was absolutely bad. We asked to be switch tables (3 tables were empty) but we were arogantly denied. Probably not coming back.

Jess Gray

Gem of a French restaurant tucked away in Pike Place Market past the fish tossers and a butcher. Took me 8 years in Seattle to try it and I can't believe I passed it over for so long under the assumption its fabulous views must be making up for a tourist trap. I could not have been more wrong. The restaurant is French its food, love of its ingredients, and its beautiful but unfussy presentation.

N L

I noticed this place while visiting the market today for lunch. I peeked in the door and said to myself what a quaint place to grab a bite with a nice view and cozy bar. As I stepped inside I politely said hello to the male hostess and I asked him if they had a to go menu that I would be able to take back with me as I was planning on returning the next day for a bite. He was rude and snotty along with his arrogant attitude of better than. His personality alone was enough for me to not return in order to try out their food. Too bad such a shame. Maybe hire friendlier more welcoming employees/staff.

angie pham

had their mussels, smoked salmon salad, steak frites (just okay), and escargot. decent food. a little bit overpriced but it is for the view and the location in pike place market. nice servers. but it is a touristy place after all. better to go during happy hour.

Brittany Mclaughlin

What an excellent place! Beautiful view outside, with a relaxed atmosphere. Our server was fantastic the time, and the feint end staff was fun too. The food and drinks though. Worth it even if everything else fell through. We have decided to make this spot our tradition. Thanks from best friends celebrating 10 years.

cwbyjnks1

How have I visited Pikes Place Market over a dozen times and never ventured down the small hallway to Maximillien? Beautiful space with top notch service. The food was visually stunning but we only had cocktails.

Glenn Koester

The food is delicious and the servers are very friendly. I definitely recommend the Maximilien mule. The view is amazing overlooking the water. The restaurant is cozy and the waiters are all helpful. I ordered three aputizers and the waiter had them all come out by themselves so I got to try one at a time with out looking wierd. So good.

Barbara Gulten

Charming, cozy, and killer views! Not to mention good food and great wine selection. It’s a lovely French restaurant tucked inside the market but has fantastic view of the water. Highly recommend sitting outside on the deck. The bar area is super cozy as well. Service is great, very helpful with menu and wine selection. We had several shareable items but moules frites was spectacular. I will be back to try it during winter to experience the interior charm. Eat up and enjoy the company!

Catte Whiskers

The food is sumptuous, the plates are well balanced, and the créme brûlée is the best in the city.

Gilles Philippe

French cuisine as you'd expect

Connie Hanson

Great mussels and frites

Godfrey Mott

Air con was too cold food order was inaccurate. Cheese cake mediocre

Ron Zeitouny

Good food, over priced though, and the service is rather slow.

Mark Brunke

My favorite restaurant in Seattle.

Rik Kern

A Great view and classically French food. I had the roasted duck and a flat iron steak. The flavors were great. The wait staff was very professional and everybody seemed to have a thick french accent which of course adds to the overall experience.

Libbie Klettke

Amazing view of the Sound and food as wonderful as the view. Great place we stumbled upon while touring through Pikes Place. We will definitely go back the next time we're on that side of the state!

Laurie K

Great food, amazing view from the patio.

Nancy Nesheim

Love this place! Wonderful happy hour. Inventive cocktails, flavorful appetizers. And the intimate deck is the perfect spot for a relaxed view of the Seattle summertime sunset.

Tate Hogan

I meet friends in this lovely place often! This is my favorite restaurant to eat. I visit this place at least once a month. The meals are just great, the staff members are helpful and the prices are fair. I enjoy being in this restaurant to have a good lunch.

Joel Tefft

Always great food,atmosphere and service

Anny Campbell

Our bartender was a bit odd, but this place is wonderful!

Tod Rodman

Excellent restaurant in Pike Place Market with superb food, service and views of the water front and Puget Sound. Cozy, intimate and relaxed.

Geri McPeek

Delicious food, great friendly staff and an out of this world view!

Kathy Miller Parrish

Excellent service, delicious food and wonderful view

Bryce Daily

Great lunch date. Only brunch on Sunday until 3:00 but we had a great time.

Aditya Razdan

Disappointment for Vegetarians.

Tom indo

Advertised as good view, feel like tourist place but fortunately the food is fantastic! We all agree and said yummy ! Service was good and definitely will come back.

Eddy Cuisinier

Perfectly located in Pike Place Market with a magnificent view of the Puget Sound worth the visit on its own, this restaurant offers traditional French fares. The setting has an old school feel, which adds to the charm of the experience on top of all the vintage French decorations. The staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about their menu: food and wine. As for the food itself, it was well-made and corresponded to the French dish mentioned but, even though very enjoyable, you would expect a higher quality for the products especially considering the higher prices. Overall, a very good experience definitely worth checking out especially for the outside view.

Dayna Salter

Excellent salmon luncheon

Dee Schill

Love their brunch!

R H

“We can’t seat you until you whole party is here”. Yeah cause I’m rolling with snufalupagus and this all a lie.

christine sams

I've only had drinks here. The bartender is great. The patrons sitting next to us we're eating and seem to love the food.

Diane McKenna

Our food was good but not great. The service was very slow. We ordered appetizers and lunch entrees but all the food came out at the same time. Beware of the surcharge on the check because of 'Seattle wages'.

Elizabeth Graves

Delicious food. We ate outdoors and it had a great atmosphere. We enjoyed a great meal without being hurried. Friendly staff .

Angie Ababurko

Delicious and romantic setting right in the heart of pike place and beautiful views of the water. Went here for Valentine’s Day. Only complaint is our waiter seemed to be in a bad mood and for what it cost we should have been treated better. But overall was great!

Nicholas Travica

Love it.. Definatly coming back!

Elliot Ross

Nice place with great food & view

Joshua Holdridge

Amazing food and cocktails, brunch on Sunday was great, they had a smoked salmon eggs benedict that was amazing. Plus the breakfast of champions cocktail was delicious as well!

Ray S

Classic French bistro fare in a intimate setting with a stunning view.

Delia-Rosa Schill

I have been here for lunch ,dinner but my favorite time to eat here is brunch . The croissants with butter and jelly was my granddaughter favorite as well as mine . We enjoyed everything we ordered . View is beautiful. Service is always great.

Sue Shuman Misleh

great view, good cup of coffee, and the onion soup was excellant

Dan Smith

Great at all times, wonderful food and drink

Anita Hilling

Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and most importantly great company!❤❤❤

Tim Scott

Upon entering the establishment, the hostess (blond hair girl)did not acknowledge me and my friend and we had to say we needed a table for two outside. I felt very unwelcomed and for no reason! Also the girl made a face at the other employee like "what do these people want" ! Customer service gets you better tips , just an FYI!

Andrew Wheeler

Very nice, good food, friendly service, nice view from the terrace. Tourist trap would be an understatement

Bruce Benik II

Its was good. My wife enjoyed it, but prefer Le Coin.sure the waiter was french, but he had a lesser knowledge in drinks that would complement the meal. The price of a meal for two was $135 after tax and tip. (Similar meal @ Le Coin $85) The mean age was older here. It was fun being there. There were a couple of older women flirting with a couple of older men. They were laughing loudly and shouting about the proper pronunciation of Boise and suggesting inserting “just the tip.” Another patron away from the bar even mocked the group every time Boise was shouted. The barter was fueling their good time but more than once shushed the drunk women to no avail.

Michael Wilson

Excellent food and service I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family we will visit again

Deshawn M

Its on the high side but i loved it

Lavonne Fisher

Charming Romantic Ambience.lovelyrestraunrt To Dine.relax Andenjoy You Will Be Delightful happyyoumadethischoiice..

Sharon Tinker

Nice ambience.. extremely over priced cheese plate...pate great.. they even charge extra for bread... cheese plate and paste without crackers. Uh no to another time...

Gabrielle Nguyen

My most favorite place so far in the area. The food is fabulous and more importantly (to me) the atmosphere is great. Prices are reasonable for a themed restaurant. I really enjoyed the oysters, snails, and the duck. Soup of the day is okay but I rarely order it when there are a lot better dishes on the menu. I don't drink but there's a good variety of wine there. Not the best place for wine tasting but enough to spice up the dinner your way.

kishan si

Good food but hard to find location. Menu is limited and staff are friendly.

Rachel Kayne

Great space. Food is good.

Duane Wunderlich

Top shelf service, libations and cuisine. All with a spectacular view.

Setareh F Nia

The restaurant looks pretty. I loved the balcony. But let me tell you something: I wish there was an option as 0 star. I was sooo bad! Nobody welcomed us. We waited a lot. The food portion = small. Food was very expensive! The staff were weird and somehow rude. I would say it was an unpleasant experience!!! Dont even think about it . . .

Merle Meagher Jr

Has good view of harbor and you can go in for just drinks

Dane

Food was good but $21 for a burger is a little pricy.

Patrick Conlan

Snowy Saturday in Seattle felt like a frosty day in Paris! Amazing view over a grey Elliot Bay and West Seattle. Clam chowder, french butter and Croque Madame did not disappoint. Very attentive service from professional waiters. Highly recommended for a romantic brunch or dinner (reserve to ensure a view)

Victoria Gibson

A nice place for happy hour and dinner

andy schiller

This restaurant is the bomb. Food in incredible and the service is top quality. Highly recommended.

Ingel Boender

Great view, good food, nice people!

Trevor Johnson

Great view of you sit outside. The mussels we're amazing!

Grace Gravestock

Nice patio, views of the water and attentive service. Food and drinks were good too.

Xavier Dieleman

Great salmon, really intense flavours! Nice view!

Paola Lopez

Awesome French cuisine. We made a reservation outside at the igloo and it was great. They give you blankets as well to stay warm. Great service and great taste. Definitely coming back again. Order the pre-set menu and get a nice taste of what the French food is good for such as escargots/oysters, scallops/duck, and creme brulee.

Anna Ivaseva

Friendly stuff and wonderful atmosphere. Food was great. Highly recommended!

Abe Kwiatkowski

Now a tradition for my Seattle vacations; sit on the patio area, have a few cocktails, and just enjoy watching the waterfront view as I work on writing.

Nift The Lean

Really do like this place good food and some great views and staff.

Michael Mason

Good service. Great Food.

Josh Payne

Not a bad restaurant, but I found the food expensive for the quality. Our halibut was slightly over cooked and the bean dish we assume was microwaved and bland. Our friend liked their massive piece of salmon, who's size only made sense because we're in Pike's. It was fairly dead for a Saturday night and our server was politely trying to get us out the door as we enjoy another round of drinks. They did bring the bday girl a little dessert with a candle which was nice. Ate in one of the igloos which think made it harder to eat my food from a couch and side table, but with less of a view than the actual tables.

nassim mir

The location and view was excellent. The service was good, the food needs more improvements. I had the seafood chower, I have had better. For a higher priced menu and we are right by the water I expect the seafood and the chowder to be right on the spot, unfortunately it was not

Cathy Vande Berg

I took my 16 year old grandson for his first lobster here while we were on a trip to Seattle. We had the best meal and a wonderful server. Truly a memorable experience.

David Retherford

The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the view was amazing at night. I would suggest this authentic French restaurant to any of my friends or family.

Coco

PROS: *A lot of the dinner menu food seems "tourist trap" low quality for high prices, but if you stick to some of the lower priced bar menu items on the second floor, you might enjoy yourself for a reasonable price and quality and spectacular view at the bar. *The cream puffs filled with ice cream and drizzled with sauce are a nice birthday dessert treat. It is a great option for sharing among friends. This is probably the best item on the dinner menu. *The steamed mussels (only available on the bar menu) are OK, but not the best in town. Order some bread and butter to with the mussels and you are set to go without spending a lot for a meal. The mussels are not high quality and mine had a slightly acidic or sour flavor. *The decor and framed pictures and artwork is fun to look at. CONS: *The high priced dinner menu items taste like they came from a prepackaged box or were bought at Costco. For example, the steak was extra tough and the steak "wine" sauce is overly salty and tastes like it was made from a dried beef bouillon cube, cheap red wine, cornstarch, water and low quality butter. The steak was not worth $39. I would say the steak was about as good as you would expect at a Motel 6 or Dennys in quality. * Everything else I have tried tasted pretty bland and uninspired. It seems to scream "French food for the tourist masses who won't come back again, so why put ourselves out." * As other reviewers have mentioned, the wait staff can be terse and indifferent to snotty. * Be warned. Maximilien adds a percentage to your meal bill (I can't remember how much the added percentage is, check their web site) that they claim is to pay the staff salary. Then when you check out, the credit card reader asks for more tips. :( All in all, it is a nice place to sit with tasty cocktail or beverage with a spectacular view. Hopefully, you can watch the sunset over the water.

Sandy Teall

Only stopped here for a rest and drinks. Mules were great and limey! The French 75 also very good but it was hot outside sonic enjoyed the mule.more. views were great on the patio and the meals that went by looked good.

Karl Wehden

We took the in laws here for a dinner with a view, and these guys beat our expectations. My wife's family lived in Paris for many years and they were very pleased.

David Henry

Restaurant we ate at on the tour, nice duck

Christina Thrash

Stopped in for a cocktail on the patio with a friend. I had the French 75 and he had the Coeur Noir. Both the drinks and the view were delightful!

John Mares

.Great business lunch.Fewer tourists. Great combo

Justin Gibson

Really great service and employees are very welcoming. Extremely perfect service.

Ida Palo

Fantastic oysters! I would prefer to have more addon to the oysters. Quite expensive.

Andy Allerdice

They best in the area

CJ Grub

Food and service were excellent. The views from the patio just made the experience better.

Nikita G.

A nice restaurant with pretty good views right in the heart of Pike Place Market. The food was good and the staff was really nice. It closed surprisingly early though: we got polite signs it was time to wrap up around 10 PM. But otherwise, it was all good.

Desert Dweller

Extremely disappointing to say the least. Mediocre food at best, definitely overpriced-even for the view and atrocious waiters who can’t get simple orders correct. Stick with Ivar’s you’ll never go wrong. Great views, happy staff, fresh tasty food and libations. And do it for happy hour. Best deal in town.

Katherine Jones

Took my sister here for her 21st birthday. Best food we have ever had! Plus the view of the water and the wheel are magical! An amazing voice for the night!

Salomon Gonzalez

Good attention Food is delicious (Duck leg) I loved it.

Kelly Piercy

Great views of the harbor and great service. Delicious food.

Rachel Van Note

Fantastic views from outside. The drinks and quiche were amazing and no complaints about the service.

Mikeli Carvalho de Oliveira

Amazing view of the bay. The patio is amazing on Summer. Really good service, staffs are friendly and always available. The menu is plenty of tasty options. I totally recommend. Also good for group. Vegan options. Try the fries with aioli (also vegan). ❤️

Chase N

Tourist trap. It seems like you don't need to have decent food if you get enough tourist traffic and that is the case here. Such a shame.

Ara Gyonjyan

Best steak

Amethyst Skye

The French cuisine here is delectable! We had seats outside with plenty of shade and a beautiful view of the water and mountains. Lunch was fantastic, and the creme brulee it's to die for! If we're in town again, we'll certainly come back.

dawn osborne

What's better than eating oysters on top of Pikes Market? I'll just wait here for your comment.

amanda whitaker

Intimate and yummy. Perfect for wine, food, and a view. Excellent service!

Alberto Comazzi

Maximilien Restaurant is located inside the market place. Easy to find even though you cannot see it from outside the market. The restaurant offers French food and a good selection of cocktails. Beer list was kind of too shorth (just two beers of tap). Food was delicious but there are not a lot of choices on the menu (I actually like this because you always get fresh food). The restaurant has an outdoor patio on the bay with a breathtaking view.

Janine Corey

Delicious food, excellent service, and amazing views of the puget sound, the ferries, and the ferris wheel.

Roberta Wendover

.nice place STAFF was very kind

George Catron

Outstanding, very, very good, we will be going back as often as we can

annabeth stoffal

Good food so-so service. My beer was warm. Waiter seemed annoyed to wait on us. Other people were served bread but we were not. I felt it was A bit spendy. Over $100 for 2 beers, 2 martinis, 2 appetizers and 1 sandwich. Patio is very nice.

Michael Nehring

Seating can be full for an evening dinner, but even when there was a massive tourist crowd outside I found a table with a beautiful view to myself for lunch. Food was exceptional and service was professional. The famous Gum Wall is a few doors down and the salmon-throwing Pike's Place market is just outside.
