This Restaurant belongs to the category of French restaurant.
Excellent food. Seating in the back was great. Will definitely go again.
Wonderful people. I'm a caregiver on a budget, and I'm here on work hours. So I was just going to buy the "cheapest" menu item. They took care of my bill for me. Very polite, wonderful people!
Delicious food and great service. The food wasn't totally worth the price but it was really good. Very neighborhood vibe which is good to have a casual dinner. Wouldn't take a first date here but would go with friends.
Awesome food.
One of our favorite neighborhood places. We usually start with an order of souffle potato crisps with amazing aioi, then order the French onion soup, Salade Lyonnaise and split a burger. I like it best when we can snag a booth.
Really good brunch, a tad bit over priced but everything was delicious. Very cute and clean establishment with friendly staff
Yay yah!!
Famous for the cook in the hat, but during Seattle Resto Week, the menu seemed cut down. The appetiser offered only ONE small bruschetta, and the main course, the halibut was substitute with cod. The Madeleine is dry and had a rough texture as muffins, which isn't what a good and simple madeleine should be. I was surprised by the entire quality of the food, felt strongly it didn't live up to its reputation. As a French restaurant, it is known that the presentation of the food matters and it's supposed to a gourmet and savouring experience, but compared to other French resto, e.g. Bastille, Luc didn't do well and take advantage of the dining week. Our waiter is very attentive and friendly.
The food and service are great!
Great food, good service. The best soufflé fries and eggs Benedict in the city!
Normally great. But there are off days I have been there. On those it's a 3. On an occasion or 2 they have been a 5. Dinner seems to execute better than brunch.
A great neighborhood place to have a full meal or drinks and snacks. Born from its noble Rovers roots Luc has the best informal bistro/ country French food period. The brunch Farmer Breakfast is hands down the best way to start your weekend anywhere. Dinner has solid options and seasonal favorites that shouldn't be missed.
Your review is right on the money. We were there as a group of 6, including our 10 year old carnivore grandson. Food and service were terrific. It was a quiet evening so noise wasn't an issue, as I'm told it can be. We will be back.
We closed the restaurant after lunch and they graciously served us. Seemed pricey for breakfast but it's Seattle so... Real cloth napkins, clean, friendly service.
French bistro in the back end of cap Hill. The liver mouse pate is delicious.
Excellent food. Place was packed and service was a bit slow.
Great food ! Somewhat expensive though.
Shared a wonderful evening experience hosted by Michael and Joey of Pretty Fork. I'm looking forward to doing it again. Check out Pretty Fork on line; Thank you!
Have been there before and sat at the bar out front and it was pleasant but this time we were seated over by the kitchen at the way back, which was okay but the fruit flies were terrible. Having brunch and the flies were all over the bread and on the wall behind my friend and flying over the table. Told the waiter that they had a problem and he said yes, they knew and they had told whomever, and "oh well". Do not think I would be inclined to go back. Not very appetizing to have fruit flies landing on your bread basket and scrambled eggs and bacon.
Horrible service for the price point.
The coq au vin was amazing. Deep rich flavor - one of the best I have had. I wish they had more onions and mushrooms, otherwise a perfect coq au vin. The Cassoulet was OK, but somewhat overcooked, the beans were a bit soft and meely. The salade lyonnaise was also just OK - it came with a mustard dressing which was tasty, but would have been much better with dressing using the bacon fat, vinegar and Chervil, Terragon and Chives. For me it deserves 5 stars for the coq au vin all by it self.
Visited based on a recommendation and I must say I am glad I know of this venue now. A quaint little cafe with a generous outdoor seating; perfect for a brunch or late lunch on a sunny day. They serve authentic french fare - the onion soup is to die for. Also worth mentioning is the cheeseburger and the accompanying fries - as if straight from a friterie! For dessert, share a plate of soft fluffy Beignets with coffee.
Absolutely incredible food and the staff and service is even better. Prices aren't too crazy and the neighborhood is charming. Taz may be the best bartender in town.
I was with a large party and we were well taken care of. (Gratuity included in the bill) The food was great. Great steak, seafood and fries. The puffed potatoes were cool and tasted good but not worth the high price. The beef bergonion is top notch and recommended. I will definitely come back. Oh did I say the original cocktails were good too?
Went here for Seattle Restaurant Week, so we didn't get the full experience. Service and food we're great so we will probably go back and order off the full menu.
Had dinner Friday night 1/17/14 with some friends visiting from out of town. Originally had made the Resy for three of us. At the last minute it grew to 5 people. Hesitantly called the restaurant to see if our 7:45 reservation time could still accomadate the addition of 2 people.." Not a problem" , they said, and just moved us to a larger table. 3 of us showed up on time with the "out of towners" showing up late at about 8:05. Not an issue as the party seated at our soon to be table was "camping out". Again ,no worries as we just opened a bottle of Champagne and toasted to us all getting together. As soon as the campers finally left it was about 8:20. Pulled some more corks and took a look at the menu. Ordered some apps, Smoked salmon tartine braised pork belly, chicken liver mousse, and their now famous :puffy potato chips". All very tasty and nicely priced. After further menu review we all quickly realized that the 4- course Prix Fixe menu was totally the way to go.! At only 28.00$ per person, I feel it is probably the best fixed course French influenced meal in the city. Yes I said in the city. Everyone else at the table heartily agreed! Most of us had the perfectly done braised lamb shank as our entree course. My two previous courses were a superb earthy wild mushroom soup with a delicious almost French onion style Gruyere type cheese melted on the top, followed by a bright, clean, (and generous) bibb letuce salad with toasted Hazelnuts.. Then the aformentioned lamb shank. We all opted for the excellent cheese course option as our desserts to finish our wines with. The kitchen wisely put 2 large plates of 4 different delicious cheeses with toasted nuts and 2 different honey creations that complimented most of the cheeses perfectly. After a few dessert wines it was time to go, as we were the only ones left in the restaurant! Never did we feel rushed or felt like we were being pushed out the door. We thanked them all profusely as we left and shook all their hands. They seemed genuinly happy that we enjoyed ourselves. All of us at the table had been, or still were in the restaurant biz, and were all quite pleased with the overall performance of the kitchen, our wonderful server, Both the main hostess and the floor Manager. We'll definately be back. Well done LUC!
Very cool place that is hidden in the middle of a residential neighborhood in the panhandle. The food, the service and the ambience were on point. We will definitely be back.
Simple yet wonderful brunch. The price point is a little high but you see that little bit of extra on the plate. The staff was warm and welcoming. Definitely coming back and bring friends.
I come here every time for the French onion soup
Tasty and cozy French bistro in Capitol Hill. Nice place for dinner.
Imagine a small room of hard yellow plaster and tall glass windows, in the shape of a U surrounding a bar and the bistro kitchen. Imagine the room could humanely seat ~35-50. Imagine it filled with ~100 people, screaming at the TOP of their lungs; imagine the wait staff and kitchen staff hitting pans and pots and screaming at the top of their lungs. Imagine the randomly place screaming baby, two 30+ women yelling at each other how happy they are to be away from their husbands. Imagine waitresses so slow that all this noise makes you so sick, you swear off eating. Once the food arrives, it is no better than a typical "Les Relais Routiers" truck stop in France. Imagine lots of oil and salt. Imagine not enjoying this mediocre food because of the din of noise around you. Think twice about Luc's; you are better off at home.
Uninspiring. I was a fan of Rover and had been meaning to try this place for a long time. I love a good French bistro but this disappointed. I came for happy hour on a Saturday. Bar seating was nearly full when I sat down but quickly cleared out. Started off fine. House red was good. I wanted to try things I heard were great here so I ordered the fries to start. Seriously this place was rated highly for their fries. Alas. They were soggy. I tried the beef burgundy and it was luke warm. Nice and rich but nothing amazing. In neither case was I asked how things were. When I asked for a second glass of wine with a nearly empty bar by then, I was made to wait after ordering while the bartender talked to one of the kitchen staff until he realized I had been sitting without a drink for a while. Barely an apology. I'm glad I tried it, but I won't be back.
Simple yet elegant French fare
Delicious!
Loved the whole experience and the food was amazing.
Very impressed
I love this restaurant! Such a little gem. The potato crisps are an amazing surprise. The three course dinner menu for Seattle Restaurant Week was perfect.
Great food!
Coq au vin superb. Halibut with morel sauce unbelievable. Gets a bit loud when busy, but always a great meal.
Wonderful food. The prix fixe menu is a bargain. Went tonight. I have had a few Coq au Vin in my life, the one I had as a special this evening was the best. Service is very good, genuinely friendly. A gem of a restaurant.
Went here for "Seattle restaurant week" and enjoyed a sampling of different foods with wine pairings. Service was great despite being full, friendly and funny.
Excellent food all around
Brunch was superb!
Great service and a good menu
French onion soup really hot the spot, service was great
Great and authentic French food in a nice setting and part of town.
Fav restuarant in Seatte.
Delicious french food and cocktails!
The cassolet is worth going for
Great brunch food, nice atmosphere.
Great brunch spot that takes reservations! The food was delicious and the service was great. Plenty of street parking available around the restaurant. Definitely recommend the beignets (light and fluffy), the crêpe poulet roti and the eggs Benedict
Taz is the best kept secret mixologist in town. Also a surprising gardening authority. Happy hour might be one of the best deals around
The Chef in the Hat is wonderful!
Excellent eats♡♡♡, lots of parking☆☆☆
Casual, intimate and always excellent french dining in a comfortable and casual atmosphere. Dining and drinks are top notch!
Great food
Nice place for a quick drink. Friendly bar tender and staff add to the welcoming environment at this establishment. They have a full menu which looked great, but we went only for drinks at the bar. The happy hour specials were great with generous pours. There are two water closets that are unisex.
Probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food was outstanding.
OMG! Food here just the perfection! My favorite is Croque Madame sandwich
Excellent food, fantastic bartender (Taz).
Luc is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food and service are consistently great and the atmosphere is perfect for all kinds of occasions - date night to girls night to family celebrations. Even though I don't eat meat, periodically, I'll share a bite of their amazing burger, which never disappoints. The fresh fish of the day is my go-to.
Great atmosphere, service staff were great!! Easy to chat with, genuinely nice people. Food tasted great, not oily or overly salty. Clean taste and clean place!! It feels sorta like an upscale place without the price!
A warm place with excellent food and cocktails. Very friendly staff.
Great young chef at the helm!
Nice patio for brunching outdoors. Yummy beignets! Be sure to get the carafe of mimosas, big savings over "by the glass"; and you KNOW you're going to drink it all.
Excellent French restaurant with a Northwest twist, food and service were both excellent
I really enjoyed this place. The food and experience were excellent
Happy hour was great. Everything is refined taste and a decent deal also.
Divine ♡
Great brunch, amazing food. Go of you have the chance!
Amazing food, atmosphere, and the best bar tender.
Luc is our absolute favorite restaurant in Seattle. Their food and service are top notch. We often get the menu du jour and the wine pairing, which are always superb. The souffle fries are a must-try as an appetizer--so unique and scrumptious. We have over the years eaten some dishes off the main menu, but the most notable one is definitely the tsampa risotto. I am in love with this dish. It is vegetarian and it is incredible. Went with three of us recently and we all agreed it was the best of our three dishes. The tastes and flavor profiles (wow I sound like a real food snob) are glorious. Every bite is an adventure. They put together spices and flavors you would never think to combine but wish you had because they're incredible. Their cheese plate is always a nice appetizer with awesome variety as well. We come here for all our special occasions or when we have company from out of town. If you have the chance to sit at the bar in front of the kitchen, it's very interesting to watch them cook. Except you may get freaked out about the amount of butter they cook with (but if so I have to ask why you are choosing to dine at a French restaurant). We've even been greeted and had a nice chat with the owner of the restaurant, the "Chef in the Hat". One of the waiters knows us well and checks in on us even if he doesn't have our table to serve. Love Luc. Stop reading and go here already.
Decent food but don't take a child in here. We've been twice with a very well behaved 1 year old for his dinner (at 4.30pm) and they are extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. There are plenty of better local alternatives.
There were plenty of lardons, although I prefer them to be a bit crispier. They also put lots of croutons on the salad, so truly, I was in heaven. My DH got the Croque Madame. Man, it was enormous!! But full of thick slices of ham, tons of bechamel and a perfectly cooked egg on top. A great brunch, indeed. My friend got the eggs benedict
Went recently there during Seattle Restaurant Week. I expect better from this restaurant. Unimpressed. The rabbit was perfectly cooked though.
Still the best brunch in Seattle, perfectly cooked and portioned classic French Bistro items, with a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Went here with a group during restaurant week. The service was among the best I've had in town and the food was spectacular. Can't say enough about how excellent the whole experience was. I would definitely come back here on a date or with my family for a nice meal.
If you haven't been GO! I like sitting back by the kitchen where yo watch them work and can preview what's for dinner. Informal but but the food and wine are fine dining all the way. Enjoy!
Excellent drinks. Usually excellent food, but sometimes, a total fail. Mostly friendly staff
Fabulous experience!!!
The coq au Rhone was delicious!
Great breakfast selections
Amazing Lucatini Cocktail! Be careful not to have too many :)
This casual cafe is what we have left to remember it's fine dining sibling, Rover. It is itself a wonderful Sunday brunch choice with reservations via Open Table highly recommended.
A nice, quiet place for happy hour. The salmon tartine is a must along with a $3 glass of house wine.
The French fries were perfection!!
Amazing. Can't even describe how great the food was.
Really good food. Good atmosphere. Not stuffy. Can't wait to come again. The trout was incredible.
Really good food and great service. If you plan on spending between $75-150 for a nice dinner as a couple, this is an excellent place. Their Happy hour is until 6.30 and have great deals.
Absolutely delightful classic french food. The atmostphere is casual but the food is upscale and the price is just right. Love this place!
The food is a little greasy, but hey it's french. Butter is love. Steak dishes have occasionally been a little fatty or gristly. But everything tastes awesome, the atmosphere is relaxed but kind of sophisticated. It's like everything you love about eating in Europe but in the neighborhood in Seattle. Great joint.
Beautiful atmosphere. The service was stellar. Did happy hour here and it was quiet for a weekday though per my friends report it can be crazy busy on the weekends but worth the wait.
Neighborhood French cafe.
Nice place to go for a quiet HH
Clams and sausage! And air conditioning!
Go for the food, stay for the ambiance
Brunch was delicious. The waiters were nice.
Intimate atmosphere and delicious food. A neighborhood fave
Best bar
Nice bistro in Seattle. Perhaps a little loud, but the food was great.
Fantastic food!
The brunch is wonderful! The atmosphere is a slightly upscale cafe vibe. They have just the right size menu, specialty coffees and cocktails, a couple daily specials. I had the Eggs Benedict and it was fantastic.
Absolutely delicious
This place is my "Cheers". Great and friendly service with amazing food and drink!!
Nice simple menu with some French classics, great bar area and a nice place for an intimate dinner with friends. Highly recommend their steak.
This is a charming French bistro in Madison Valley. We were recently here for dinner. My friend enjoyed the risotto, and I enjoyed the leg of lamb, the brussel sprouts, and the fruit rickey, and we split the chocolate pot de crème. Luc is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Seattle. The atmosphere is inviting. The food is delicious. There is an excellent wine list.
Great comfort food with cosy seating. Has chocolate creme pot to die for!
Good food, good service, nice atmosphere.
Very classic and tasty food)))

Basic, warm interior with comfort french food. We enjoyed the french onion soup and beef bourguignon. Meet in beef bourguignon was melt in your mouth tender. Awkward hostess and uninteresting atmosphere dropped review one star, but I would gladly return.
Probably the best food you'll ever eat. A symphony of simplicity. Clear flavours combined with outstanding meats and only the freshest ingredients are the base on which Seattle's finest eatery build. A staff you'll love, drinks you'll want more of and nights to cherish. Outstanding!
Very limited vegetarian options but the one that was offered was fantastic. Good service and large drinks menu.
Seattle has a lot of flashy new restaurants, but Luc is an established place that continues to serve interesting, delicious, beautiful dishes for about the same price. Service is 10/10, drinks are delicious, and best of all, the restaurant is not echoey: you can hear each other speak here. I highly recommend Luc for any occasion. I must note that despite having been here half a dozen times, we have never actually seen a chef in any type of hat, despite "the chef in the hat" being their tagline ;)
Excellent restaurant and great place to celebrate a birthday.
Superb food and fabulous service! Cozy and wonderful
Fancy but also casual and a nice good place to go have a nice dinner and enjoy some French cuisine
Modern French NW cuisine with a simple elegance. Unassuming flavor with beautiful presentation. Easy to get a,table. Nice weekend brunch!
Luc happy hour is awesome, get the cheese curds and the burger. And cassoulet
Great food and wonderful staff. A little expensive but worth the happy hour
Fantastic food
