Super nice staff and amazing food
Excellent food and service
Food is marginal (Guapos much better). The service was horribly slow. One of the worst I have experienced in a while.
Best salsa ever!
Best in DC!
Drinks had basically no alcohol in them. Margaritas were all mix. Waited on food for almost an hour and a half... Really bad service overall
Buena comida
Los Cuates is steps above your typical burritos-in-a-box generic-menu Mexican place while still feeling cozy, unpretentious, and homey. The chile relleno was absolutely amazing. The dish proudly proclaims it's superiority as it comes out as a barrel-chested magnum-sized pepper with a clearly crisped batter. This is not a limp, sad pepper like so many others. The cheese inside is of high quality. The light painting of mole sauce takes the relleno to another level of distinction. My wife had the chicken stone bowl: the chicken breast was beautifully flavorful, the cheese toothsome and satisfying, and the jalapeno was exceptionally hot (be careful). The only mixed bag at this place are the chips and salsa. The chips are effervescent in how thin and crinkly crispy they are while the salsa is very chunky and difficult to scoop with such a delicate, papery chip.
Cute little place downtown. Friendly staff.
Food was very good, service was even better
Pretty good food. Could be faster service. But what ever. Has a bar.
Find your soul!
Bland but big margaritas
I ate here 6 years ago and I still think about the fun times and good food I had!
Big drop in quality and service in the last couple of weeks. I used to have lunch here at least once a week, often their Ensalada Azteca -- romaine with lots of black olives, heart of palm, slices of red onion, slices of avocado, and added chicken (breast meat, chunked up, slightly crusty and still warm from cooking), delicious dressing. This time it was all romaine, and VERY scanty representatives of everything else. Chicken barely cooked and cold. Instead of the usual dressing serving, this time it came in a tiny cup barely bigger than a thimble. I said there used to be more chicken (and everything else) with the salad, and a server brought me a little tray of chopped chicken, also undercooked and cold. I told a different server that this was all much different from how it used to be, and his reply was "We're all new here, so we don't know how it used to be," and apparently didn't care either. I left most of the salad uneaten, but they still charged me (after my requests) the full $18.63. I went somewhere else for a real lunch, where you get what you pay for. (Where are Danilo and Tito when we need them?)
The main ingredient in their food is onion. It's just everywhere, even in rice! All in all, the food is really average, nothing to enjoy or hate but it's not what you are looking for when you decide to eat out, is it?
ok, tasty but "nothing new under the sun" Mexican food. But neither greasy nor smothered by layers of cheese - and flavorful. Attentive service. only the marguerita was an all time low - watered down to crystal light taste and drowned in ice. skip!
Favorite Mexican restaurant! Great drinks, delicious food, great location, and great vibes. Parking isn’t too bad if you not mind walking.
I think El Centro is better quality.
Very delicious
Nice little spot and the margaritas are outstanding!
Regular TexMex. Small portions of the Tequila.
Stopped in for my usual strawberry margarita, and as usual, they had it ready for me almost before I sat down. These guys are outstanding.
Sitio muy bien decorado. La comida muy buena y platos abundantes. El servicio, también bueno. La relación precio calidad bastante bien
Had a great time at this restaurant the fajitas and margaritas were on point and our excellent waitress Candy was wonderful definitely coming back and will recommend to everyone
Loved the atmosphere and the food. Great location.
If you want the tortilla soup to be closer to what it should be add half of the nachos and salsa that they bring to the table.
Slow service only had 30 min for lunch was almost late and it was only 4 tables that had customers
Margaritas
No frills Mexican with good drinks and very good service. TV at the bar always has a soccer match running.
Excellent food, great service and price for the location.
We liked the fajitas.. better then we get in Houston.
After waiting over 40 minutes and still no food ! I will never be back ! Oh and get this there was only a hand full of people..
The only Mexican place I've found in town that has Blanco queso. It's really good. Everywhere else I've gone has been yellow queso. Highly recommend!
Had a party of 5 on our first time coming to this restaurant and I’m glad we came the food and drinks were amazing. Queso blanco was delicious as recommended by our waitress (Candy) who was also a great help in our first time there. Can’t wait to go back and try different dishes I’m sure it will be as yummy as it was today.
Went here for Happy Hour and left really happy! Excellent drink specials and a friendly staff lent itself to being a great experience. I had the sangria (red) and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too sweet. My buddies had the frozen margs and enjoyed them too.
Great place to eat, the food is delicious, the service is great and the place is so nice and colorful and the music, oh the music!! Wanted to dance so badly. You should go an visit Los Cuates
Food delicious and Danilo was the best server!
I wasn't expecting much because of the name but this place is lovely and charming. It's the 2nd best dining experience I've had in my 6 day visit to DC. The interior has the appropriate amount of mood and decorative lighting and the decorating is very classy. Our server was genteel and informative. The dishes we ordered were delicious and so well presented. It was a little warm inside but we cooled ourselves off with the refreshing ice water.
This restaurant should put a skull and crossbones on the door. It's really THAT BAD.
Hands down the best Mexican food in the DC area!!!! Frozen margaritas and the fajitas are my favorite
Really good service and the food is delicious
Just perfect!!!
Don't think I've ever had a bad dish here, it's reliable if nothing else.
Good food , good people
Great strawberry margaritas.
The best tamales I have ever eaten. They just melted in my mouth. It is possible to order a full or half pitcher of sangria. The waiter obliged me and made just a glass. The guacamole was fresh and beans had a homemade flavor not mush like many places. The service was superior. The atmosphere was tight but intimate.
The chicken enchiladas are a great go to. The plate comes with plenty of food: 2 enchiladas, rice, beans, guacamole, salsa and sour cream. If you want a low key night I would come here. The salsa and chips are fresh. The service was spot on with refilling my tables water. The waiter was not the best as he seemed eager to have my table leave. .
Great customer service!! Grubhub failed to deliver, so the manager delivered it to us directly. Thank you!!
Good, normal Mexican food. I come here regularly. Drinks have the right balance of alcohol and mix, etc. Sort of pricey for the quality of food you get, but that comes with it being in Georgetown, I suppose.
Best queso blanco with ground beef and spicy margaritas. Friendly service and solid menu options!
Best Mexican food this side of the Rio Grande! And I should know, as where I come from, we call Mexican food just "food".
Me gustó este restaurante en Washington DC
The food tasted like minimum wage sadness & it was slow too
Place is Awesome +!
I was very shocked at the prices, two medium house Margarita 21.99 each. Three steak tacos, just meet and cheese 17.99
Great food and ambience! 10/10 will recommend!
Had 2 margaritas for $46. Very average food at best for Mexican. They must prey on tourists with drink menu with no prices. ☹️
Asked for water and they said is was contaminated and tried to charge us for bottled water, then ordered tacos and they gave me just one.... Worst Mexican place in all of DC. Would not recommend at all...
Nice service, good food
Mediocre mexican food. Carne asada had great flavor. Tortillas were hard and stale like tasting. Cute atmosphere in beautiful neighborhood.
Delicious!!! The portion sizes were huge and the fare was authentic. There was a wide variety of entrees to choose from. I started with the shrimp nachos and ceviche for the table of three and together with the free fresh chips and salsa....we didnt need to order anything else to be full. I just wish they had horchata!
Delicious yet spicy queso
Dont get the salmon. Maybe try something else
Beautiful place!
All day happy hour and friendly server. We got pitchers of margaritas and they came in huge towers, which really kicked the day off!
Cute place in Georgia Avenue! Wonderful cuisine!! Ridiculously delicious! Try the Spinach Enchiladas! The staff is also very attentive!
Fuimos 3 noches seguidas. Nos atendió Jose. Excelente servicio, muy muy buena comida mexicana. Y la calidad/precio es inmejorable, no es barato pero comes mas de lo que pagas. Super recomendable.
The worst Michelada Mix ever!!!
Excellent food.
Great services and good food!!!
Large portions, deliciously authentic mexican cooking. Very friendly attentive staff. Prices not high for georgetown and interior nicely designed.
This restaurant just doesn't have good Mexican food.
Very good
Good drinks
If you want Mexican food in Georgetown, this is a great stop! Start off with a margarita and some free chips and salsa and then dive into an extensive menu of Mexican food. I usually get the veggie burrito and after all of the chips and salsa end up taking half of my meal home because of the large portions!
Really nice of them to let us sit for a long while when they weren't busy ... friendly staff
love the tacos and the [greasy] sampler
Delicious authentic fresh made...new chef!!!
Cozy spot with great food & service!
Great Mexican food, huge portions and plenty of vegetarian options. The Chilli Rellano was great but I recommend sharing one as they are super rich.
On our 3 day trip we enjoyed really this place, good fresh Mexican food and nice Margaritas!
About 10 minutes ago I sat down at the bar and a cockroach deel from the ceiling and landed on the bar in front of me. I cant bering myself to eat there now.
Foods ok
food is spectacular the service very good atmosphere is very pleasant and fun a terrific place to enjoy a meal !
Order my food the manager was nothing but rude when it came wrong. If you want a friendly place do not go here they are just mean people that do not care about the customer
Very nice evening at Los Quates. Fast friendly service with excellent chips& salsa. Delicious burrito Vera cruz (seafood burrito). Stop in if your in Georgetown for a wonderful meal.
Excellent authentic Mexican. Reasonably priced. Relaxed atmosphere.
Moderate quality Tex-Mex food. Nothing really stood out, in a good way or a bad way. A solid, average rating.
Rico!
Best cheese quesadilla I’ve ever had.
Good small spot, decent margaritas. Went with the 2 enchilada and 1 tamale special and wasn't disappointed.
Sort of a hole in the wall Sort of quaint Mexican restaurant.
no frills joint serving up some tasty
A lot of great food for a little money. Muy bien.
Tasty and satisfying dinner in Georgetown! Love the chips!
Very good food and the service was perfect. All the people working there were nice and polite.
Good Mexican
Tasty but pretty standard Mexican. The service was fast and friendly.
Great food so filling.
Delicious fajitas and salsa! Some of the best Mexican food I have had at a restaurant.
Really excellent food and service - we'll be back for sure!
Excellent and delicious mexican food. Very good quality for the price.
Good, reliable Mexican food in a nice cozy restaurant.
My sister and I took my parents here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation and I was glad we did because the place was pretty packed. We got guacamole which was very chunky and fresh, but the portion was much smaller than advertised. As the night wore on, the restaurant became Georgetown undergrad central and got really, really loud. So, if you're looking for a dinner where you can hear each other talk, make sure to go early in the evening.
Worst experience for me and my wife very rude waitress! He seem very racist also. We attempted to try and stay and deal with it until he bought our drinks out warm with bug floating in one of the glasses.
Worst service ever! Our party of five waited for more of 40 minutes and our food didn't come when other patrons get their food quickly! When we finally speak up, the manager show up to apologize blaming a error of our server. We just get up and leave,
Excellent service, good food. Prices were reasonable. Wish they had beer on tap. Clean restrooms. Extensive menu.
Some of the best lunch nachos you can find. Definitely go for the steak.
The burrito bowl was good and tasty
So authentic and delicious! The table salsa is so flavorful and balanced. The staff is very fun and the ambiance is cozy. Great menu, low prices, perfect tacos.
It's pretty simple. Seriously. Don't waste your time. This doesn't come close to Mexican food.
My partner and I really enjoyed our time here. The food was excellent and the staff was super friendly. Great place to grab a bite to eat if you're in the area and are craving some Mexican food.
If you're trying to send it, this is the place. Grande margs, sangria pitchers and buckets of cerveza
The other choice in the area for Mexican is El Centro. Los Cuates is more authentic and far superior, unless you're looking for a bar and dance lessons rather than traditional and family eating.
Drinks were pretty poor and it took quite awhile to get food.
Basic Mexican, big with the georgetown u. Students
Kind of pricy but for the quality of food and location in prime Georgetown, it's very worth it. I had their seafood enchilada and the shrimp and scallops were both cooked well and the sauce they use is awesome. The beans were only okay but their guacamole is solid. My father got their pollo mole and also loved his food. Great place.
Good tasting food, affordable prices, big portions.
Intimate local place, a little slow at lunch time.
It was the most unsanitary place I have been to the back alley bar is cleaner then that restaurant
Cozy Meican place with great fajitas, chips and various other bites. Margarita pitchers are great for sharing, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Seating can be limited, but does have an upstairs area. Great for an evening bite and sharing drinks and plates.
The food was pretty mediocre. I won't go back.
Only sent half of my ubereats order. Ubereats wanted to cancel the order and have me reorder. I cancelled order, deleted ubereats and will not order from this restaurant again.
(Translated by Google) Good food (Original) Buena comida
Food is amazing, authentic Mexican food. A little hole on the wall, drinks have the right amount of alcohol.
Excellent service! The best Mexican Restaurant in DC
excellent A+
I used to like this place a lot!, however, today I came back with my friends because I've recomented this place to them, we ordered "Molcagetes" and it was a disappointment to see only 6 small pieces of meat, 3 tortillas, 2 slices of raw avocado, tasteless beans , rice ok and salty salsa. I was so ashamed with my friends because I brought them here....
It was fine. The chips and salsa were very good. The rest of the food was good. The service was fine, too. I wouldn't order the Camarones Bruchette again. I didn't care for the bacon used and it lacked flavor.
Small cozy place with great food
Appetizer of fried plantains, cheese, and chicken was delicious.
Good food but CONSISTENTLY terrible delivery. We're talking 2 hour windows.
Good Mexican food!
Good guac, service needs to be imporved
Great food but a little pricy.
Awesome food and big servings
Great authentic Mexican food
Always a good feed at Los Cuates. Big selection of Mexican and good beer to wash it down. Never disappoints.
Great ribs
Another good choice if you want a Mexican inspired restaurant with tasty food menu option.
Not the best Mexican restaurant in town. Margarita had nearly no alcohol.
