REVIEWS OF Laredo D.C. IN Washington

James Burner

Awesome service, cool refreshing restaurant with immaculate decor. Cantina feel! Prices seemed steep for typical mex-American fare, but it is DC, and we are rubes from appalachia!

Katherine Aumer

Ate here twice while visiting, each time we came the food was delicious to decent. The steamed vegetables as a side was not that well cooked, but it was edible. The decor is fun and vibrant and it is a cozy place to eat and drink.

sandro sanchez bernaola

Every time I come to DC this is my spot. The food is amazing, drinks are very good. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. I always want to stay for longer. I definitely recommend it to everyone for Mexican food and for casual drinks.

Emerson Taylor

I had the chimichanga which was well overpriced for the quality and quantity of food that I received. This was not traditional compared to what I've had in the past.

Karl Penman

Amazing food good price

Davon Broadus

Its was good

momteacheraunt

Excellent food and service!

Brad Ferrell

This place is perfectly fine. The food is fine, the service is fine, and the prices are fine. It may not be abuela's home cooking, but it is exactly what I expect from a normal Mexican restaurant, and I had a fine time.

Wayne Zimmerman

My wife and I are from California and love Mexican food. We also travel to Mexico annually and are familiar with Mexican cuisine. We had driven by Alero many times and decided to give it a try for an early dinner. We were pleasantly …

Denny Dobbin

Stumbled in to the Refrectory for a birthday celebration and was very pleasantly rewarded with the service, food and overall grand experience.

Anton Rudnev

Avoid this place if you really know and love Mexican cuisine. Food tastes like it was cooked from canned ingredients. So many great Mexican places all around DC but unfortunately this is not the one:(

Carlos R. Brito

Very lively, place. The food is delicious with a pretty look on every platter.

Carmen Elena Bautista

Lovely atmosphere and yummy food, went there for a Sunday brunch with a friend. Only reason why they don't get 5 stars is that I ordered sunny side up eggs and they came hard but otherwise super good food and service.

Joshua Trusty

GAYS STAY AWAY!!! I normally do not go to straight bars/clubs in DC because many of my experiences have been negative. I decided to stop by Alero for a quick drink, ordered a non alcoholic beverage from the bar when someone from …

Auntie Alex

Yummy, fresh food, fast friendly service, great drinks.

Mariya James

Really expensive. Tip is gonna be mandatory over $100 and with a party of 6 or more. So be ready for spend some money for alright food.

Christopher Hall

Food was delicious and fresh. Would come back

Chaz Shanton

Fun atmosphere, great patio, great marg selection, and decent food

Christopher Niebylski

I love Los Cuates. Michelada is spicy, empanadas are fried and tasty, and Amerimex standards (tacos, burritos, enchiladas) are on point. Salsa is just the right mix of tomato and onion too.

Alice Duff

My girlfriend and I used to come here somewhat regularly. Their food is above average, and I especially like the steak fajitas. However, in the past month of two they've increased some of the prices on their menu by a massive margin. Fajitas used to be ~$14, now $20. I can understand a dollar here or there, but most of the prices have been raised by at least 30%. Their margaritas are tasty, large and strong, so I would recommend going here for an appetizer and drinks, but not for dinner.

Mitchell Ingram

I don't know why there are negative reviews. we got the nachos, chicken quesadilla, and beer enchiladas. The food was mind blowingly good in our opinion. The service was OK as well. But they gave us a free round of shots for the wait. I wish I lived in this neighborhood so I could go to it all the time.

harris jt

This margarita is strong but the burrito bowl was alright.

A L

Although everyone was friendly. The service was not that great and wow super over priced even for DC food standards. 11 dollars for a very small cup of guacamole, rip off. My food also tasted bland unfortunately and I think my Margarita was out of a premix bottle from the grocery store. Definitely pass on this one.

Lisa Lloyd

Great atmosphere. We like to dine outside it just feels right. This was a rib fajita tasted great!

Sam Mayer

Came for the brunch special with a group of 4 and waited 45 minutes with nonexistent service in a restaurant that had four other active tables. Ended up walking out.

Dylan Joyce

Generic would be an improvement. Remarkably devoid of flavor. I know DC doesn’t do Mexican well, but even California Tortilla across the street brings more to the table. Nice decor.

Laurey Patten

Nice location, pleasant outdoor seating, good chips and guacamole. But I ordered chicken fajitas and, while they looked wonderful, the chicken was tough and rubbery -- raw in the middle. I sent them back, but the texture of the second batch was not much better. Maybe it's the way they marinate the meat, but chicken should not be chewy and rubbery. I gave up. There are too many GOOD restaurants around to waste my money on a sub-standard one.

Sofia Kosmas

My favorite mexican restaurant. The best Margaritas you have ever had. Very friendly atmosphere, excellent service and delicious dishes!!!

Aaron Childers

Say it now great atmosphere what does exceptional I think food is good but food is not exceptional pricing is okay but not crazy for the neighborhood, dinner and drinks for two was 75 plus tip, but we left with food. sitting in the bar by the window is cozy, good for World Cup viewing, they cook a steak to order, I ate without complaint

Damon Dyer

Marta and Stephanie are great hosts! The night totally got away from me and my best friend, but it was awesome. So great to have this place right down the street from me..

Whitney Glover

Slow, slightly unfriendly service.

Sarah Steele

I go here during off hours and they are usually not crowded and has ok happy hour drinks. This time the food was not as good as usual and they used to give complimentary tequila shots with the bill, but they haven't done that recently. I wonder if management changed.

Arturo Espinoza

A great menu with more than your traditional dishes. Good food and very nice staff. Try the Rellenos!

Chere Smith

Came for a friends birthday and was very disappointed. A apple/almond salad was ordered and out came a salad with carrots and walnuts

Gabriel Solano

Always good food and drink s!

Maria Ciudad-Real

Excellent

Eléonore Cunaud

I live around the area and decided to stop for a drinks and bite as i come in the restaurant i felt in Mexico with all the decor and the smiles everywhere, i order the portobello fajita which are amazing and a margarita really good.

Amanda Astey

I am a sucker for mexican food and I like this place a lot. It's a little run down but they have good salsa and guacamole so I'm always happy when I go there. It's one of my go-to spots for meeting up with friends. It's casual and everyone can find something they like there.

Romeo Guzmán

lovely place

Bridget Schwartz

Pretty typical Mexican food, yummy margaritas.

Brian Payne

Great food and drinks with friendly service!

Dude In Manassas

The drinks are just okay for the price.

Yasmin Raheem

First time going to this restaurant yesterday. I'm new to the neighborhood so passing it everyday I definitely wanted to try it out. Two words. Sub par, the food is nothing to brag about but still decent Mexican cuisine. The outside patio isn't ideal if you have allergies as the area is very wooded. The service was decent although our waiter only checked on us once. The price point is much higher than it should be.. given the area, it makes a little sense that they would charge $55 for a pitcher of frozen margs. The drinks are really good, which is why I would give it a solid 3 stars. Here's the deal breaker, no happy hour. We went on a Friday at 5:00 pm and there's no HH ‍ not sure if it was because it was the day before Cinco de Mayo, but that was disappointing. Won't be returning.

Clark Killingsworth

Excellent service. Enjoyed tho outdoor seating option. Tried the eggplant fajita. Very tasty. Loved it!

Kitty Kat

The service was slow and spotty. The most competent waiter we had wasn't ours, but one our table had to flag down to ask for something. Besides the service the food was AWFUL! The rice and beans had no flavor and tasted stale, as if they were made weeks ago and left to sit in a fridge, only to sadly be reheated as ordered. No one at my table enjoyed their meal. My husband went to the bathroom and took pictures of this dismal place. The sink was falling apart and didn't work properly (sanitary issue), tiles were peeling up, and there was a toothbrush and set of car keys in there which lead us to believe someone lives here. I wish I would have listened to the other 1 star reviews, but heed my warning, go ANYPLACE but here! Your stomach will thank you!

Queen Ampleness

It was okay. I wasn't thrilled by it.

Mike Merrigan

Super fantastic

Paul Apollonia

Great food and atmosphere

Tommy Lawrence

Good atmosphere, okay food, expensive prices. I visited Laredo's on a Saturday evening around 7:30PM. It was not very crowded for a restaurant on the strip at Cleveland Park. The seating deck was nice and provided a good atmosphere. The menu was standard for any Tex-Mex Restaurant. I ordered the Shrimp Fajita and some Guacamole. The Guac was good and came with homemade chips, but it was not worth $12. The fajita was also good, but only had 5 jumbo shrimp and a whole onion! Not worth the $22. Overall food was average and way overpriced. I could see this place doing a lot better if the prices were lowered.

Felicia Witherspoon

.I have never had terrible Mexican food. I would have rather eaten at Taco bell. Please save your money and go elsewhere

lavonda butler

Small space

Catherine Eby

The service was good but the food was bland. Their bottomless brunch is a good deal though.

Cristiano Guerra

Would give them a better rating if they didn’t insist on blaring music even when there’s nobody eating on their patio. Could be more considerate of their neighbors.

Surya Angelique Shofar

Stopped by just for a margarita. I got less than I hoped for. Or perhaps my expectations of having a memorable Mexican drink at a Mexican restaurant was a bit too high? I was not fulfilled at all.

Katie Mercuri

The initial experience was good. Seating promptly, good food. We left an $18 dollar tip on cash on the table and went home having enjoyed dinner. It wasn't until the charge settled on our credit card did we see that our waiter Sergio added an additional $10 to our bill. I went up to the restaurant the next day and got my money back, half hearted apologizes and was offered two free margaritas. I won't be going back and I don't recommend you do either.

Blanca Badgett

My husband and I are new to the DC area in search of good Mexican food. We are from Arizona so we have high standards for Mexican food. We are also aware that finding good Mexican food on the east coast is like looking for the holy grail.. The food: boy oh boy, it was not good. We ordered the steak and chef fajitas. The steak fajitas were ok. The chef fajitas are chicken and shrimp, which were ok. Ok meaning it was sustenance and nothing more. Both plates are accompanied by beans and rice which were dull. We were so disappointed in our dishes and to top it off pricey. The salsa was good but only the first table salsa and chips are complimentary and they charge you for refills. The house margaritas: we unfortunately ordered a pitcher of house margaritas... mistake! It is watered down so much. And the taste was almost soapy? So bizarre. We were forced to drink it as it was $35/pitcher... The service: the servers were friendly and attentive! No complaints about that! The location: conveniently right off the Cleveland park metro. The restaurant was clean and filled with so much beautiful Mexican decor. My husband and I will not be back.

Eliseo Figueroa

Food ok. Great service!

Ivelisse Cruz

Good place to eat Mexican food in Cleveland Park. Prompt service. Salsa is excellent. Had enchiladas that were well prepared.

Paul Newman

There’s nothing worse than a restaurant that lies about when your food began cooking. If you forgot to put my order in then just be honest and say so. The servers and bartender seemed to have everything in order since they were watching tv. I’m guessing the order was only placed after I asked about it. A lot of people place pickup/to-go orders because they’re short on time. That’s something Laredo had zero care about when I visited. First and last time ever going there.

Kristie Woods

Before you take those last few sips of you margarita, make sure your bill is right. Happy hour pricing did not appear on our bills. Two parties significantly overcharged! When we brought up with our waiter, he claimed we ordered off the regular menu...except we pointed it out in the happy hour menu. Decent food, shady prices. Gave 3 stars because they fixed it.

M.H. Tahersima

We enjoyed the Sunday brunch very much!

Francisco Lopez

Delicious food and good price too!!!

Jenny Sabol

This place is a rebranded Alero. Health code violation? Alero wasn’t good to begin with. This place is somehow worse. My food was literally inedible. I got a to go box to give my meal to a homeless person. But I couldn’t do that to another human being so I trashed it instead.

Kennishia Marie Shade

dont ever forget to get your swirl on (its a drink) when you dine here; its my FAV!

L. M.

Very expensive for subpar food. The drinks were very weak and watered down and a regular Sprite was flat. When we told the waiter the soda was flat he took it back and added ice to it. He felt it just needed ice (go figure!). The food was tasteless. Definitely NOT authentic Mexican food. Will not be returning. Won't recommended to any of my friends. The service was decent.

Mimo Monroy

Disgusting food I never expected get a bad food from a expensive restaurant like this. They gave me tacos of rotten meat. That reeked horrible. I will never go back to this place. Ooh by the way it was carried out.

Mirna Vergara

This is a cozy place for to share a great time with the family and friends. Services is wonderful and food so delicious.

Terri Young

We had a nice time the food was great...

Jasmine Vializ

Food was delicious but the portions were pretty small, especially for a seamingly authentic Mexican restaurant. Also, the service wasn't great. We were there on a Saturday evening, before Christmas and they're weren't very busy at all but it felt like the servers and hostess were extremely stressed and short with the customers and one another.

Grace

Great customer service, good food

Mary Reynoso

The best place ever!!! the best passion fruit margaritas I ever tasted... food was excellent

Johana Martinez

Awesome service and food.

Martin Brossman

Great local place.

Renato Cataldo

I was in the neighborhood and decided to drop in. I went with the bottomless unlimited tapas for $20. The food was great, service was good, and I appreciated being able to try a bunch of different recipes. The reason they lost one star is because of the receipt and tip calculation. My meal was $20. The tax was $2. A 20% tip was calculated on top of the tax. I don't think I have ever seen it that way. I am OK tipping 20% of the meal, but not the tax.

Mike Johnson

Good Mexican dining in Cleveland Park.

Herman S. Basra

Awesome authentic taste, great music. Cultural decor. Great for families and vegetarians!!!

Jesus alvarado

I love that place.. One of my favorite restaurant..

Denard Jarmon

I ended up paying 20 dollars for a chicken fajita I expected it to be grate it was probably the worst thing I have eating in my life please save yourself some disappointment and just go to chipotle

Alex Dimo

The food is good but not great. The service was poor. The server was rude to me when I asked for more salsa. He told me it cost more and walked away. Never brought me more salsa. They also didn't refill water or even check up on our meal at all.

Stephanie E Walker

There local and the food is tasty. The service is quick, and they have plenty of space for dinner party's.

It was cool, until I started tasting a blonde strand of hair in my mouth, mixed with guacamole and nachos. My girl noticed it and pulled it out. It was hanging out my mouth like the spaghetti string in the Lady and the Tramp. When I told …

Manyu Sharma

Most of our parties food was great, mine was cold.

Valencia Brown

Its ok

J Prime

Good food and good service. I would come here again if I'm ever in the area.

Rene Wallis

Nice outdoor seating, pleasant waiter, good food. I enjoyed it.

michael mayo

The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the server did a great job. Other than that EVERYTHING was overpriced, the portions were small, the food wasn't good at all, and I believe something on my entree was spoiled. I've been in the restaurant business for 20 years so please trust my evaluation. Maybe we caught them on a bad night but either way we will not be returning.

Steven Taylor

great place for lunch and a drink! Love Marta!

sheahana wickramasinghe

Lovely Mexican Restaurant. Great drinks, huge portions and delicious Tres leches.

olivia eutsler

My partner and I have been wanting to eat dinner here for a while, and ended up very disappointed. We both ordered taco platters, not to mention things were pretty expensive. Everything was pretty much luke warm, the rice was undercooked, …

Paul Krzych

Laredo is a casual, laid-back Tex-Mex restaurant that serves delicious food and tasty margaritas. You can expect your fajitas to come to your table sizzling, your beef enchiladas to be made with brisket, and your Cadillac margaritas to have a nice float of Gran Marnier.

camilo nieves

Good food

Jason Groth

Good service, good food. Tight seating but it wasn't a big problem.

Ronald John

Great place to have a family dinner.

Jhadith Giraldo

The staff is really nice and the margaritas amazing!

R&R Entertainment

Ok local spot. Needs better customer service

Chris Lundquist

I really want to like Alero more than I do, given that I enjoy Mexican food quite a bit. Their drinks are quite nice, so I'll give them kudos for that. But their food is very uneven. I've gotten a couple different taco/tamale options there, and their tortillas have often been soggy or shapeless in a way that's just very unappetizing. I hope that if I go back, I can have a better experience with some of the other menu options.

Fost Cott

Horrible restaurant. Steak doesn't taste like meat. $20 for two tacos, everything expensive. The margaritas were watery. The chips were thin and had no flavor. The salsa and drinks came in small servings. The only good thing was the music next door.

Carlee Griffeth

The best mexican food I’ve found in DC.
