REVIEWS OF Espita IN Washington

Well, I'm officially into mezcal now. I had never had it before, and the bartenders taught me all about it even though it was a busy night. They were super nice and the drinks were fantastic-- both the cocktails and the shots. Also, the guacamole was perfect.

Laura Ireland

What a tasty brunch! Authentic dishes made fresh, and I'd have to say the best Mexican cuisine I've had in the DC area. My boyfriend was really impressed with the mezcal. We sat outside and thank goodness there are misters lining the outdoor rooftop. Just enough mist to cool us! We can't wait to come back for dinner!!

So Swii

Date night at Espita was a raving success! There was a 15 minute wait, although numerous tables inside and out were open and set, but we sat at the bar and waited patiently. Though the menu was small, it was creative. We both enjoyed the chips and guac, which means a lot because I'm not a guac person, our entrees and drinks. Next time, I'd love to sit outdoors!

KM- L

What a birthday treat! Came for brunch and enjoyed the variety of meat and vegetarian options. The fish tacos were AMAZING and we could not get enough of the churros. Really enjoyed my spicy cocktail, with just enough heat to remind you there were chilis in the drink.

Dor R

Just meh... Over priced tacos, drinks were not good and honestly we stayed hungry after dinner.

Abhilash Prasann

Overpriced and average food. Good drinks though

Phillip Baker

Always incredible cocktails. Probably best salsas in town too.

Sharalys Silva

The bartender was knowledgeable about mezcales and its history!

Stephanie Carter

Food is great, cocktails were delicious, but service leaves a bit to be desired, and overall I feel that this place was not worth the cost. You do have to pay for either chips & salsa, and you only get to pick 1 salsa (or order multiple). The server also handed us our plates (versus putting them down in front of us) which is one of my pet peeves when going to a nicer dining establishment. Food was very high quality, but definitely not worth 5 stars.

Micheal Green

This place is really great for brunch. Love to sit outside on the patio. The staff is always friendly here.

Jake E

Delicious! Super trendy place in DC’s up and coming area!

BobbY Butler III

Really nice place!!! Great staff, very attentive and informative. The mezcal is definitely top notch

Pierre Powell

Visiting, I hate giving negative reviews. Service was not stellar. Fusion tacos were not that great and prices were too way high.

Scott Carpenter

Come and learn about mezcal - or enjoy your passion with connoisseurs. Excellent service, excellent curated selection.

Nicole Walker

We stumbled on this spot by accident. Great atmosphere, drinks and tacos.

Cristina Marquez

Espita your doing it wrong, came here with my husband. I am Mexican and I felt so out of place. Maybe some diversity in your staff would help .I felt like I was walking on eggshells AND I AM MEXICAN. came here for some good Mexican tacos and they only had a choice of 4 one which included a carrot taco. The guacamole is way expensive. Went to oyamel down the street now that is a great place! 12 dollars for a guacamole bowl the size of a cup of salsa. and that reminds me when have you ever gone to a Mexican restaurant and they not offer salsa and chips upon arrival. As I'm reading theres alot of complaints about the staff. And prices. Maybe managment can look into some small adjustments. Or at least offer salsa while waiting for the food. Maybe some diversity will encourage more people to come in. Be more inviting... the food honeslt wasn't bad.

Shelley Jo

Great service and delicious food. Yummmm!

Stephen Cann

Great tacos and incentive cocktails based on various mezcals. Highly recommend for a quiet date spot or night out with friends.

Frederick Cheeseborough

Visited here during restaurant week randomly with some friends in town from NYC. I was a little concerned about trying to impress foodie friends from NYC but Espita did not disappoint. The chocolate churros for dessert at the end were amazing and who knew a grilled cauliflower could be a main course!

Brandon Haines

Good, but doesn't quite stack up to the price point. I had the mole negro and a mezcales de la casa flight. The dish composition was subtle and nice, but subtle flavors were over-powered by char on the tortillas. The wagyu wasn't handled to its full potential. Portion was on the small side, but sufficient. Environment was good, but the bartenders were busy enough that service was slow. For 25% less, I'd have walked out happy. As priced, I'd like to have seen better dish composition.

Andre Eaddy

Went for brunch. I order the chicken and waffles. Also ordered a couple of tacos. Both were ok. Friendly staff.

Aerica Shimizu Banks

Already one of my favorite places in DC, Espita took it to another level accommodating for my musical chairs style casual birthday party, deftly providing individual checks to the revolving door of attendees. Also, the classiest Taco Tuesday I've ever experienced.

rob fischer

Large selection of mezcal with servers that can talk you through your choices, and delicious tacos too.

Christopher Weidner

Awesome tacos and salsa, good service. Great stop for a quick lunch

Bre McGahey

The food was outstanding and so we're the cocktails. Counter service and $67 tab for two adults and one kid (who ate guacamole) felt a little disproportionate. Go for dinner and not lunch, but definitely go. The food was delicious.

Michelle Mills

On my recent visit to the nation's capital, by chance we stayed in Shaw, one of Washington D.C.'s hippest neighborhoods. A bastion of beautiful Victorian walk-ups and incredible eateries, we enjoyed food everywhere we ate. But dinner...let me tell you, at Espita Mezcaleria was phenomenal. As a native San Diegan my bar is set very high for Mexican food. Whether eating a humble street taco, the gastronomic staple of Mexico, or a well developed mole, I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD. Espita not only met the bar, it blew it up! Every bite from the first course to the last was fantastico! I was with my family and we tried the following dishes: COMIDA- Salsa de Maranon, Guacamole, Tacos de Alitas, Ensalada Verde, Mole Negro (the

Kelly Green

Excellent food + mezcal + service!

Monica Kang

Great food and great vibe. Even at 10 pm it was crowded and fun. Recommend the food and customer service.

Dharti Shah

Food itself was pretty good but we had bad service. Thankfully the manager stepped in and remediated the situation immediately. I would be willing to go back and try it again!

Brandon boone

Stopped by after a late night in the office just missed the main menu cut off time also hadn't eaten all day! The bartender said try all the tacos on the late night menu if you don't like any of them I'll take care of it. Challenge excepted!! They were all delicious, traditional corn tortillas base with non traditional but exceptional flavors. I wasn't surprised I'd enjoy the chorizo and chicken but the eggplant wad also delicious! I found the cocktails to be very good and strong. They won't disappoint! I was telecommuting so enjoyed dinner solo but I'd suggest this place as a social spot even a chill date night.

Staci Morgan

The place was amazing and the ambiance was cool enough. The staff was very friendly and kind with us and the way they serve food was appreciable. I like their food presentation, interior location and pricing etc. So i would like to recommended this place to foodies

Rajesh Santhanam

Good Mexican restaurant in an area I wasn't expecting one. Food was very good although a little on the expensive side. Outside seating was great. Attentive waiter. Taco Tuesdays was a plus ($3 tacos). They have a separate menu for the vegetarians in your group.

Charles Leach

Good place I like the food.

Anh Nguyen

Delicious and creative tacos!! My friend and I went here for the happy hour (read: mezcal) and really enjoyed all the tacos options on the bar menu - carnitas, fish, and eggplant. My favorite one was fish with the cumin cream and a kick from the jalapeño salsa. The happy hour ends at 6 so make sure you get here early. Will come back for dinner and brunch.

Krista Johnson

Excellent food and service! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about mezcal and had excellent suggestions for both food and drinks.

Matt Jones

Stopped by for lunch and had the Al Pastor. It was good and plenty.

Whitney Farrer

Outside patio was loud and food and drink was expensive..wasn't worth the wait..

Debby Gonzalez

Great drinks and delicious food! Highly recommend for happy hour and dinner.

Hardik Parikh

Had team dinner during DC convention center. Enjoyed happy hour! Great food and service. Try their Carrot Tacos, Pork Tacos and Avacado Tostada. Enjoy the dessert in picture..

Sarah Borwell

Great food, intense flavors. Would have loved a choice of slightly sweeter more tropical cocktails but the menu was good. Nice experience.

Kyle D

Fun Mexican bar/tapas style restaurant. Not too much of a beer selection, but they have an interesting subtle pineapple beer you should try. They have several choices of salsa to try. Easy access from the metro. Photos as of october 2018.

Stefanie Farmer

It's pricey. The food was good, but being from Texas, it wasn't anything mind-blowing for our crowd. Our waitress was excellent.

Romain Garnier

We sat in the covered outdoor space, with fans and open windows. The mezcal cocktails are very good - but beware, they are strong! All the tacos we ordered were tasty. And service was attentive! All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Jennifer Driver

The food here is so freaking good. It’s by far one of my favorites. Also for folks with allergies, they have special menus for every allergy out there. As someone with a nut allergy, I love this. A bonus, this special menus are great. My only negative is they changed the menu and removed this one dish that was absolutely insane (I want to say it was the tamal) It had no meat- as I meat eater I was almost licking the plate. I really wish they’d bring that one back.

Maria Elena Montero

Molé is phenomenal. Excellent service.

John Lee Ward

Great ceviche. Authentic tortillas.

Don Robinson

Awesome chips and salsa. My wife wasn't crazy about the chips. They are clearly mad in the restaurant and are a little thicker than some, like I have experienced at more authentic Mexican restaurants. Food was great. Drinks were unique and awesome.

Hillary Bush

This place is mediocre at best. I rarely write reviews but I was so underwhelmed by everything we ate and annoyed by the price gauging at this place. Guac is $12 for a small dish. All drinks are $13 or more. All entrees are >$18 and very small. We got fish tacos and a chicken dish that is a poorly glorified single tamale. Everything lacked flavor and spice. Will most definitely never return. I Have had authentic Mexican at half the price in many neighborhoods of DC.

Maria Avila

The food here was really good. We share and it was good, because we got to try a lot of it. The mole was amazing

Allison Ziegler

First impression was poor, as the bartender took far too long to say hello and came across like an arrogant hipster. But, the service improved as he came out of his shell when discussing the mezcals. The happy hour tacos we had were good and the drinks were strong.

The Jont DC

This place is most certainly an "interesting" find for authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurants ambiance includes paintings of sugar skulls and urban Mexican decor, a very nice indoor patio area, and intimate lighting throughout the restaurant. The service we received was prompt and attentive. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to recommend some personal favorites for us and answer all questions we had. Espita Mezcaleria boasts a slogan of "Authentic, Not Traditional" and it couldn't be more spot on. The food was prepared and presented beautifully, but I have to say we found most of the dishes we ordered strange. While each dish was unique and flavorful, the only dish we truly enjoyed as a whole was the Tacos Al Pastor, and the signature cocktails. I was very hungry but found myself sort of picking through each dish for the ingredients I did enjoy. All in all, if your looking for a different spin on Mexican cuisine then definitely check it out. It has a lot of character and is located in a great area of Shaw. If you are more of a traditional person you may encounter some unexpected tastes, good and bad, and have some trouble enjoying their spin on authentic Mexican cuisine.

Tharen Callanan

Amazing selection and flavors, even during Happy Hour with a truncated menu. We would definitely be interested in coming back again!

Christopher Richard

Woohoo, tequila! Very interesting flavors and amazing food. I wish I could remember the dish...a vegetarian option that was so freaking flavorful, I felt fulfilled...and I don't typically eat vegetarian. Thank you!

Ahliah Bratzler

The food was pretty good, the drinks were passable, and the service was atrocious. Not a place to go for a quick lunch.

Angel Cabrera

Delicious Mexican food in a fun environment. Food was so tasty and flavorful I didn't dare add any spicy sauce to it. (If you like Mezcal or are intrigued by it, their selection is pretty good too!

Amanda Dolan

Pretty authentic tasting! Flavors blended well and the bloody Mary was yummy

Joseph Raczynski

Solid happy hour with small but tasty two bite tacos. As expected most of their concoctions are tequila based. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz

Jasmine Martin

They are very friendly!! This place is a very good option for healthy and tasty food at the same time. The food I had, I would definitely make a mention of them. It was very well prepared, delicious and presented beautifully.

anam naqvi

Fusion food, but not the best. Ambience and service is great.

Matt Ventura

Great tacos and decent drinks! Very close to the convention center!

Yesica Reyes

Came here for New Year's Eve Dinner with my family (party of 7). Bad choice. We got seated at 10pm on the patio area. Ordered drinks and appetizers. At 11:20pm we placed our order for entrees. 5 minutes later after ALREADY placing the order, the manager comes to tell us that the patio area has to be cleared before midnight and we will have to move inside "IF" we could find a table inside. (There were NONE). First, this shows lack of communication from Management. A heads up would've been helpful. Second, why would the server take an order when she(should've) known that we would have less than 15 minutes to swallow our food? No warning and no apology whatsoever. Shouldn't this be a "enjoyable dining EXPERIENCE" or is this a fast-food establishment? If we would have been aware, instead of feeling rushed, we would have chosen a different New Years Eve option. If you like Mezcal and want "authentic" Mexican cuisine, there are other options that can provide you with an actual authentic menu, a less pretentious atmosphere and a higher level of customer service. Espita's New Years Resolution: IMPROVE YOUR COMMUNICATION AND YOUR LESS-THAN AVERAGE CUSTUMER SERVICE.

XAVI SAL

Taco Tuesday!! still very expensive at $3 ea. tacos are meant to be an inexpensive garnacha. But they taste great and a better option to other Mexican places. The bartender was amazing, she provided great service and was very attentive. Decor is nice and ambiance is quite calm. Highly recommend checking it out.

Gerald Brown

Interesting menu and a great looking dining room. The food was generally good but overpriced. The wait service was seriously lacking. They kept our water glasses filled but didn’t do much else very well. They never knew who ordered what at a 10 party table. They never asked if we wanted drink refills. And we couldn’t get help when we needed it.

Caroline Hamric

Great spot for brunch! The food and drinks are great (especially the tlayudas - add eggs!) and the staff was really accommodating when they ran out of a dish my friend ordered. Try their signature mezcal margarita, the Mayahuel.

Peyton Doyle

Suchhhhh a great place in Shaw. Mezcal margaritas were off the charts. The fresh guacamole was incredible. I was really impressed with the menu, the taste of the food and the staff's friendliness and knowledge. Really enjoyable experience– will be going back!

Tyon S

The best Food and drinks!!! The presentation and taste is a must have in your life.

Sam Lee

The veggie tacos are ridiculously delicious.

A. Thomas Grunley

I loved Espita Mezcaleria and reccomend it often and without hesitation. They have fabulous guacamole and great margaritas. The ambience is as cool as it possibly gets for a Mexican Restaurant - very modern and “hip” / almost an industrial type feel to it. The service is notably helpful, making this an easy five star selection.

Sam H

Gross food and overpriced! 9 dollars for a taco smaller than your palm. Octopus & avocado charred to oblivion. Upset my stomach. Not worth it.

Joseph Kelly

Love Uncle Julio's and On the Border, but this is not your typical Mexican joint. The food is both authentic and quite delicious. So do your guts a favor and check it out. Your tummy will love you for it. Great service too.

Alice McCallister

Amazing food. Service was decent, but overall they were unprepared for large convention crowds so it was slow. Surprising when they are across street from convention center.

Morgan Brannon

So many mezcal options and fun drinks. Absolutely delicious pork tacos and Mexican dishes. Prices are high, which is why we wouldn't go often and gave four stars, although the food and service is excellent.

Josean Alvarez

Quite good. More of a Tapas place... but good

Ted Levin

Boozy brunch is a great option here. Three courses and all you can drink for $39. Not to shabby. Endive salad and tlayuda were very tasty. And the drinks menu is unique and you can mix and match!

John Stirling

Food was excellent and our wait staff, Luis, was great.

the unknown

If you're looking for a glimmer of authenticity in DC, this place provides more than just a glimpse. Incredibly knowledgeable bar staff. If you haven't tried mezcal, you're missing out and this is the place to try it. Great food, but come for the service and authentic charm of a mezcaleria.

Melissa Posey

I wanted to love this place but the bartenders are so rude and slow....our past trip will be my last. The food is meh and overpriced for the portion size.

Ed Cook

I ate he last night and the food was exquisite with incredible attention paid to creating an eclectic blend of flavours; unique. Service was impeccable and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening.

Garrett Steffen

Very delicious entrees! Will definitely come for the breakfast again. They also offer a three course meal, but the entree felt like plenty food for me.

Liam Hallinan

Delicious food, great veggie options, friendly staff.

Mike Richardson

That Mezcal margarita tho

Jennifer Anderson-Kapke

Hostess was inappropriately rude and arrogant after we were inquired about and were seated on the patio by a waiter. I understand this can be a job that requires juggling but staff should be respectful and considerate, not leave a sour taste in a patrons mouth...

Franco Amalfi

The food was really good and the waiter attentive and helpful.

Kelly Rzendzian

Incredibly rude hostesses. No one bothered to take even a drink order - finally left after 30 minutes.

Andy W

Good guac and happy hour margaritas

Sally Ryan Shaw

Terrific food and GREAT service!

Marty Emeritz

The best. Each and everyone who works here is polite, eager to serve you well and their cocktails and food are extraordinary.

Katy Roby

One of the best meals I have ever had. That quinoa bowl with the flavor on those nuts was insane.

Sridevi B

Good mezcal options. Went here for HH with coworkers, some of the drinks on HH menu were really good and some were pretty bad. Overall had a good time.

Pamela Bosque

Awesome drinks, great decor.

LisaLynnette Young

So this was my first visit, and I came based on a reference. It’s a Saturday early afternoon ( in time for “brunch”). So things are so different from back in the day where- brunches had specific items like bacon, coffee, and toast at minimum. So they have a set menu where you can select items for a three course meal. I really wanted authentic Mexican fare so I had a choice of ckn tacos, fish tacos, vegetarian dish or their version of ckn and waffles. I really didn’t knw what I wanted but I love shrimp tacos. So I ordered fruit salad (refreshingly nice), I opted for the ckn and waffles (bcuz it was familiar)- I am so disappointed that I selected this since I came out craving Mexican food! While the dish was esthetically pleasing - waffle, fried ckn thighs on top and egg (which I declined sunnyside up and asked for fried medium) with spicy syrup on each layer. I would’ve preferred everything crunchy and syrup on the side. And in a separate dish they had what appeared to be a whipped chipotle butter. Which I would’ve love to put on my hot crunchy waffle- but they poured syrup on it. I will say that I really appreciate the customer service and the atmosphere of mixed culture and diverse genres of music! Needless to say I

Brittany From Boston

Fantastic menu - it’s not too long but everything on it is a delicious choice! We tried a selection of tacos and they were all very good.

Alexandra Wilson

Great food and atmosphere

David Martin

Great fresh food. Taco tuesday is a must

Christopher Anderson

Expensive, but delicious. The three salsas are a great start but don't fill up on chips even though you'll want to. It's a rookie mistake. They are very accommodating to all kinds of dietary restrictions so don't hesitate to ask. The vegetarian dishes I've had are incredible--Complex and Rich sauces with great fresh ingredients. The first time I was supposed to go here they messed up the reservation. Glad I gave them a second (and third and fourth chance). The cocktails are very delicious and feature unusual flavors and ingredients, but cost quite a bit. This is still a neighborhood favorite of mine.

Daniel Hardin

Best authentic cuisine in the area!

Neil McDonald

Chorizo!

Matt Johnson

Poor service and everything was too expensive for the portions offered, both food and drink (except for the guacamole).

Rich Harris

Walk, don’t run, to this awesome authentic Mexican gem. I’m from Denver and we know a bit about great Mexican food. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in DC. Great selection of mezcals and tequilas. Awesome tacos with chargrilled corn tortillas. Very happy and will be back.

K A

Wonderful flavors! We had a group of about 10, and our waiter created a tasting menu for us all, giving us the chance to try many amazing options. One of the best restaurant meals I've had in a while. Too pricy for me to go to often ($60, including drinks, desert and tip), but well worth it for an unusually good experience.

Dondré S

Upon arrival we were told that we'd have to eat at the bar or wait 15 minutes to be seated. This wouldn't have been a problem if there weren't so many empty tables. We walked by the outdoor section and saw at least 4 tables that were empty, clean and had silverware setup. Inside there was also more empty tables. This was irritating. We eventually got outdoor seating and our waitress was great! She was very sweet and accommodating. The menu is small but what i ordered was really good. The atmosphere of this place is fun of the weather is nice it's worth sitting outside for sure.

Ciro Hernandez

More food options could b better!

Joe Freeman

Great food and the most wonderful staff!

Burak Sen

Espita Mezcaleria never disappoints! I go to D.C. for business or academic purposes once in a while. If my stay exceeds one night, Espita is always included in the program.

Luis Mendes

Absolutely amazing place, great service , great selection of tequilas and mezcals! A must visit location on DC if you enjoy tequila

Kira W

3.5 stars. Came here for happy hour. Atmosphere was great but tacos were just meh compared to others I've had. I just didn't really enjoy the flavour combinations and there were not many options on the happy hour menu. The chips and guacamole were the best I've had. I found the prices were very high. I would probably try another few tacos places before returning

T P

The drinks and food were okay but the service is really a joke. After the first drink at the bar, the bartender never asked if we wanted a second if though we were one of ten people at the place. HH is at the bar and restaurant so we moved to a table. Waiter at table said no to the HH. After we clarified the waiter said it is limited. Clarified again and we got all the HH. What a joke. Sad

Thomas Germe

Wonderful food and service, thank you!

seanmcistanbul

Solid, if limited selection. Great guacamole and avocado tostadas. Tacos also quite good. Definitely order a margarita! The "self service" lunch makes midday dining efficient.

Daniel Cerveny

Fabulous restaurant with a wonderful variety of of drinks and meals. It is on the pricier side for what is offered. The outdoor seating is perfect (assuming the weather cooperates). I would highly suggest checking out espita with a group of friends out for the night

Jeffrey Gustafson

Delicious! Experienced a lot of new flavors. The three course meal was a huge treat. And the dessert was exceptional: a dark cupcake chocolate sorbet with a warm chocolate mousse! The contrast was delightful. Cold somewhat bitter sorbet with warm sweet mousse. Match made in heaven. Very well priced for what you get. It has something for everyone to enjoy.

Stinger Guala

Lovely place. The patio can be a bit loud but it is a great venue for a group of friends, inside has quieter areas and a bar. The Mescal selection is the best in the city and they take it very seriously. Sit at the bar for the full experience because they have a lot of bottles that are not on the list. We also had truly sublime Margaritas and some great little tacos.

Tamara Watts

Been here for brunch several times. Love the atmosphere. The bartenders are friendly and food is delicious. I'm coming back for sure.

Harper Royals

Food was great but service was lacking. We had come for brunch and bottomless drinks. Unfortunately, they were completely out of coffee which is insane for a brunch place. Our table of 4 racked up a over $200 tab which was fine considering what they offered. However, about 2 hours into our three course meal they asked us to leave and go to the bar because tables were waiting. We found this very insulting since we had spent plenty and tipped very well. When we were walking out we saw a table that had been there longer than us but I guess they didn’t ask them to leave. Very insulted and would not recommend. EDIT: To reply to the owners response below 1. Our reservation was at 11, and our Uber picked us up from neighboring buttercream at 141pm after shopping and spending time there discussing our next steps after rudely being kicked out. Your reservation policy should be clearer regarding the two hours and you should offer drinks for less time if people aren’t given drinks right away. 2. Why were tables that were seated before us not also being kicked out? There were two tables of similar size seated before us that were still comfortably seated when we left. 3. Why would you invite us to the bar that was completely full when kicking us out of our table that we spent more than a fair amount on? Your staff lost on tip because of your quickness to kick us out.

Anna Talmage

Food was great BUT they have 2 hour boozy brunch and they asked us to vacate the table before the 2 hours was over. Waitress also stopped attending to us about 1.5 hours in. Our bill was over $200 for 4 people, and $19 each was for the booze which we weren’t allowed to continue consuming as apparently they will push you out to door. Additionally, they were out of coffee which was strange for a brunch place. Go for a quick meal, don’t expect to be able to stay and enjoy. EDIT: To reply to the owners response below 1. Bryan De Rosa

Came to Espita Mezcaleria on a busy dc day in May. We were greeted with a smile, and seated quickly. The staff is fantastic. The best part was how we interacted with our waitress to select some signature drinks as well as amazing food. The atmosphere is great! bar could have a few more options. Love the space

Ace Williams

Enjoyed an easy evening worg small plates of Mexican fare. Pretty damn good food with different takes on classics took the wife here to pregame with food and drinks. Recommended on any young evening for many occasions.

David Gross

Good service, good food, but a little pricey. About $20 for 3 tacos (no sides - a la carte), chips & salsa, and an iced tea.

James Lytle

This little place is a find, in a less than exciting place in DC. The folks in there know mescal, and the food they serve is very, very, very tasty. I will go back to Espita.

Andrea Moffett

The service was awesome. The food and drinks are very unique. I'd be prepared to go out if your comfort zone for the experience. However, everything was absolutely fantastic!!!

Mike Brand

Awesome tacos and salsa. The homemade chips were yummy.

Kevin Lackner

The bartender are on the money and Chef Ben great fish tacos I highly recommend

B M Washington

Tequila old fashion

Jessica Lyons

We went for brunch recently. The food was amazing!

Josh Kimbrell

Trendy Mezcal bar/restaurant with friendly service, tasty cocktails, and an a wide array of Mezcal varieties.

Chuck Friesema

Very good food. Had the Tlayuda con Barbacoa with dark chocolate sorbet for dessert

Kat Gale

Delicious and fabulous service. Will be returning.

Kelly Porch

We would like to go back. We had a great time and food, drinks and service we're really good

Nicholas Williams

I went here for their bottomless drink brunch. At the time, I wanted (of course) to give Espita 5 stars. Looking back, it seemed like a lot of frills. Food was tasty but crazy overpriced. Its one of those places you're looking at your friends' plates trying to pick around to justify spending $20 on a meager serving. I still recommend for the bottomless brunch, but I wouldn't go there for anything else, especially on a budget.

Kerrie Tatarka

Excellent food. Fabulous service. Order the Calabaza for dessert.

Asad Hussain

Got the lamb shoulder, smoked cashews, cashew salsa, churros negro and everything was EXCELLENT. Need to go back just for that Lamb shoulder and those churros

X EyetotheCosmos X

Came in with the late and they were still serving, I liked that the menu was not your typical Mexican fare but interesting ingredients put together. The presentation was great and the flavor was some of the best I've ever had. Got to try new things and it was great.

K PAD IRIG

My first impression was that the menu was short but after eating the food, it's worth it's money. Great customer service. Just make sure to eat here hungry.

TJ Wooldridge

Best taco lunch in town.

Vanessa Powell

LOVED THIS PLACE! Delicious food and such a cute atmosphere! I came for brunch on New Year's Day. It's great for big groups but only if you make a reservation. The drinks were seriously amazing and there's so many to choose from (and I'm from NYC). There is much attention to detail here. I highly recommend in my favorite neighborhood in DC.

Tina T

fabulous and unique fish tacos and great service

Mauricio R

I came from Reno, NV and I have to say this was by far one of the best restaurants I tried while being here. I would highly recommend you have the shrimp ceviche! The only thing they lack is attention to customer, they seem a little understaffed but otherwise no problems.

Stacy Eastway

Menu was too small & overpriced

Chris Bryant

Great atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, awesome cocktails and beyond friendly service.

clarence muhammad

Great service decent food

Mike Wilson

Not really my thing. It's trying to be a good place, but seems to fall short for me.

Lincoln Davidson

Food is a bit overpriced for the quality and portions. The mezcal selection is excellent, however.

Yanci Velazquez

Enjoyed an easy evening worg small plates of Mexican fare. Pretty damn good food with different takes on classics took the wife here to pregame with food and drink

Shane Huang

I ate here on a weeknight on a last minute reservation without much in the way of expectations. I figured it was another trendy place, good for a meal but with more of an emphasis on looking cool than on tasting good. I was wrong, because this place is amazing. Every dish and cocktail we had here was packed with innovative and balanced flavors. The presentation and plating was beautiful enough that it actually lowered my expectations for flavor, but the food turned out to be delicious. I'll definitely be back.

Guacamole with crab doesn't seem like it would work, but it feels like a DC heavenly coupling when you try it. The cocktails were exactly what you expect and more from a spot specializing in mezcal, with spice and sweetness that nail every note. Service is spectacular, with quickness and personal interaction. Bobby, our server, did a great job in being attentive and kind. We live in the neighborhood and can't wait to go back!

Went here for my bfs birthday. Super accommodating with space and dietary restrictions, and great food!

Good food. The self service part was a little confusing. They need better signage.

Michael

Well spiced and upscale Mexican food with a good selection of mezcal.
