REVIEWS OF Copine IN Washington

Dídac Pérez Parera

Impressive food. What a wonderful surprise discovering this restaurant was. The presentation is very very good, and the service obviously great. This is my favorite restaurant in Seattle so far.

Dan Murphy

Portion size is very small, think tasting menu size. While the food is excellently presented it's somewhat underwhelming in taste. Service felt very staged and scripted. Better options are available at the same price point.

C Ariz

Well crafted and creative, with fresh ingredients. Friendly and efficient service from Ruven at the bar. Well worth a try, and I'll be back soon.

Jennifer Rao

I am convinced the Copine is Seattle's best restaurant. Perfectly balancing the art of perfectly plating and artistically delivering the food, which is absolutely perfect to the taste. I have had some of my favorite meals here, and today was no exception. This is one of Seattle's hidden treasures.

Jim Warren

Oh my gosh. Great visit. Impeccable, tasty...and a great bar.

Michelin 1 Star dinner. But M doesn't rate Seattle, yet. Great food, attentive service, lovely wine.

Working for a long time in the fine dining restaurant industry, myself, I believe I have a good sense of when a place is particularly well done, and Copine is exactly that. I love this place. I celebrated my birthday here because it is truly special. All my guest were equally impressed (including my extremely picky and hard to impress mother). I love the cleanliness and thoughtfulness of the staff and the attention to detail from taking your coat, storing gifts, the table settings, the staff, the service, and the food. Everything is done with purpose and grace, and I always look forward to coming back. I would recommend something here, but the menu changes often with seasonal availability and chef's creative whim that getting others excited for a dish would be cruel, and frankly, regardless of what you order, it will wow you and exceed your expectations every time. Ther plating is beautiful and meticulous, and so is the thought put into each and every item on the menu.

Ashwin Rao

One of Seattle's absolute best dining experiences. Artfully crafted food, with immense taste. An unforgettable dining experience, every time, and a must-try destination for any of you wishing a culinary adventure bar-none!

Bernard Deconinck

Original chef from the bookbindery, when it was awesome. Some of the prettiest plates we've seen. This would be irrelevant if they were not also incredibly tasty.

Yen

A decent fusion restaurant of French and American cuisine. The first impression is they have colorful decorations for the dishes. Every dishes look beautiful. Before what you order, they service the salmon fritter(tasty, hope we can have more) and bread. The lamb rack taste so tender and fresh. The halibut was well seasoned cooked. Taste juicy and great flavor. The Foie gras are amazing. We ordered the cheesecake as dessert, it came with a Ginger cooking on top and surrounded by berries. Taste fantastic.

I have a lot of dietary restrictions right now and called the day before my visit to see if I could eat anything. The hostess took down all of the foods I couldn't eat and the next day they remembered my situation and had prepared a meal that I could eat. It was all delicious and really accommodating. It was my second time trying to eat at a restaurant and they saved me a lot of hassle and embarrassment in front of the rest of our party.

Absolutely wonderful experience (and the food's not too shabby either.)

Don't pass up in the dessert. The peanut butter chocolate and banana thingamagig? Fugetaboutit. Wicked delish.

The location is away from the scrum of downtown; the location in a Ballard neighborhood is both discreet and charming. We enjoyed very nice service from the staff: they were visible, made rounds without interfering and generally let you enjoy your meal. The food is quite intriguing. The smoked pork belly is not to be missed! Our soup of lettuce was creative; tasty and left us wanting another bowl. The sweet corn agnolotti is worthy of another visit---. I am sure we will return to see what new dishes the talented chef can offer.

Angela Leung

Little French restaurant, the two appetizers (foie gras terrine and Dungeness crab) and 2 mains (lamb rack and rabbit) are so good. We are especially impressed the different pickles that they serve! Passion fruit semifreddo is must try!

This place is amazing and well worth the price. The food was incredible, everyone in our group got something different so we could try many things. The cocktails were great and the service was among of the best incr experienced in Seattle.

Dwight Dively

Fantastic meal last night, as always. The sablefish, a new addition to the menu, is perfectly cooked and the accompanying shrimp consomme is fabulous. The rabbit is always amazing. Great, friendly service.

Beyond my expectations. Best risotto I have ever tasted!

Andrew Freeman

Great cocktails, food and desserts!

Warren Rice

Copine has leveled up the Ballard food scene, and I don't say that lightly. Food is immaculately presented and the staff is knowledgeable and professional. Can't wait for my next visit!

Derek Sakamoto

One of the best restaurants in the Seattle (might be the best IMO)! The food and service were amazing and friendly. Definitely make a reservation in advanced.

Erin L. Schneider

We had previously dined at the Book Bindery back in 2014, so when the head chef and GM left to start their own restaurant shortly after that, we knew we had to go! Copine did not disappoint -- our meal was amazing, from the starters: wagyu beef tartar (special) and hamachi crudo, our main course: rabbit and wagyu ribeye beef cap (also one of the specials and hands down my favorite!), and for dessert, salted caramel pot de creme and the cookies and creme. Everything was so well prepared, tasted fantastic, and was presented beautifully. The service was excellent and the atmosphere, while quaint compared to the previous Book Bindery location, was a nice space. Will definitely come back again -- just wished we lived closer! Highly recommend.

Amazingly interesting food. Great location just a little out of hustle of Ballard. Would be great if more places like this opened in North Ballard.

Top fare restaurant. Very exquisite servings. Wait staff was very helpful and courteous, and service was excellent. Love that you can bring your own wine to pair, and wine is available with fabulous pairings and recommendations. Environment is contemporary elegant open, with a full service bar as well.

Clint Brock

Very nice setting and the wait staff was amazing. You find an authentic french restaurant experience complete with the little extras that reputable high end restaurants pay attention to. Worth the money, value doesn't necessarily mean cheap and we definitely found value in our experience at Copine.

Adrian Lazar Adler

A fantastic restaurant using seasonal produce with excellent drink options. They have great cocktails and a wine list with interesting choices (e.g. Lebanese and Greek).

Erin Greenly

Wonderful service, delicious, beautiful, interesting food and an elegant, modern decor. Can't wait to go back!

The crab salad starter was creative, fresh and tasty and paired nicely with the pamplemousse cocktail. The canard on the other hand was forgettable, I actually had to look back at the menu to remember what I had eaten. The service was very poor and I seriously considered leaving before I even placed my order. Regrettably disappointed.

Justin Anderson

This is a fantastic French eatery that offers elevated cuisine reminiscent of a fine dining experience, but served in a slightly more casual setting with plenty of room for elbows making the experience not too stuffy. We very much enjoyed the Carbonara, rabbit, and lamb. I don’t usually write home about dessert, but the salted caramel Pot de Creme was worth it. The homemade granola on top of this savory salty bowl of cream was incredible. Copine has the feels of an established restaurant with fine dining in its distant past without the price check or uncomfortable feeling of such a restaurant. As such are it’s owners. With fine dining experience in their past, they’ve embarked on their own journey to create Copine. A neighborhood restaurant with excellent food, great service, and casual vibes that you feel like you can (and want to) eat dinner there every night.

Eric Candell

Truly elegant Seattle dining experience

Tracy Mehlin

Exquisite, fancy food. Low key atmosphere.

Chris Dideon

I cannot speak to the food as the 4$'s are appropriate and beyond my budget, but if anything like their drinks, it too must be phenomenal. The care of preparation and quality of ingredients used by head bartender Ruven provided me with the best Old Fashion I've ever experienced. Also a 4$ drink, but oh so worth it.

Kim Cameron

Raymond Eriksen

Great food, wonderful service.. love the NW / French fusion.

Bruce Warshaw

This was just about one of the finest meals I've ever had!

Victor Chang

Really great food. Rarely do I see every dish being a hit and this place delivered. Only four stars this time as first 20 min there was a service drop and we were not greeted by the waiter or even offered water. After we complained to the hostess, and expressed our aggrevation, they did not apologize and said they had two tables turning over at that time and asked if we wanted to be moved to a different section. Was not what I was expecting from a place of this calibre. However recovery was great once our waiter finally arrived. So left happy overall.

Nikki Hart

It’s a cute French restaurant with AMAZING food. You won’t be disappointed... unless you like Grey Goose. They surprisingly don’t carry this vodka. Nonetheless, my cocktail was still delicious!

Jessica Hubacher

Jannette Bailey

It was my birthday and i loved it! Great food and service.

randal cobb

This is, perhaps, the absolute best tasting and creative food I have ever eaten; hands down! Copine is a "come as you are" restaurant that serves up-scale; 5-star quality tast experiences (dare I call it mere food), and a top-notch bar staff (Ruben appears to be magic as a mixologist and is phenomenal at pairing up wines with courses). We dined at the bar, is how I know this about Ruben.

Sean Gordon

Awesome service! Great drinks! Amazing food! This place is phenomenal and a must try!!!

One of the best restaurants in city. The food tastes very complex. Every single dish we tried was just incredible

This is my favorite fine dining experience in Seattle. The food and service here are amazing. The experience reminds me of a two Michelin star restaurant. The pasta course was phenomenal; I would even consider getting it as an appetizer to share (it's kind of a small entree but too filling to be a second entree). We ended up ordering a lot more food than expected and the staff helped us spread it out over multiple courses which put our pace just right (nothing got cold and we were never bored). We ended up leaving just about two and a half hours after being seated, but I could definitely see a shorter meal if you just stick to one entree a person. The price is really reasonable for this level of execution and attention to detail. The plating here is elaborate which makes it a bit difficult to share but the staff was pretty up front about that.

Seth Varty

Delicious food a little off the beaten path in Ballard. So good though!

David Wakazuru

Absolutely fantastic dinner I had here with my girlfriend and mom. I remember this chef from his last restaurant, the book bindery, near magnolia, and I was sad they closed. But now I can enjoy his dishes all over again and for the foreseeable future. We went on a Sunday, which is a price fixe menu but there is a choice for each course so enjoyable for anyone.

Andrew Lautenbach

Fantastic meal, fantastic cocktails, great wine list. Come here and take it all in. Beautiful space, minimal without feeling sterile. The staff could not have been more welcoming, charming or knowledgeable. Eat. Here. Now.

This is a great restaurant. We didn't RSVP but we were able to sit at the bar

Had a wonderful birthday dinner there for my husband. Service was very friendly and informative. Food was excellent.

Michael Barto

The food and service were amazing. Highly recommend the scallops and rib eye. Execution on the dishes was awesome.

We were looking for a new go-to restaurant for a treat to ourselves and we had heard good things about Copine. Located in North Ballard it's out of the drunk sh*t show that Ballard Ave can be on a Saturday night. We didn't have reservations, so sat at the bar. The bar tender and the server were great taking time to answer all our questions about the source of the ingredients like the fresh Alaskan Halibut. My wife had the roasted chicken which she enjoyed. The whole meal was very nice and we will definitely be back.

Ritu K. Coleman

Alex

Excellent service and food. Simple yet attractive interior

Marie-Claire Dean

It was ok and on the expensive side. The food was good and the service was very average. The table was in a drafty area in the middle of winter which wasn’t awesome. It was ok but probably won’t come back. It was quite expensive for ok.

Nicole Miller

I was truly disappointed. There are no vegetarian options on thier menu. They offered us a pasta ring and it was not flavorful or enjoyable. I will not return and would not recommend this to others.

Christophe CHARPENTIER

Probably most of you, who know the place, might be surprised. So let me explain why this harsh score. And let's keep in mind that when you claim high cuisine that's what you're judged against. 1. When push the front door and it feels the hoods in the kitchen are not on, you're off to a bad start. 2. Flavors are clearly not transcendent. But fairly blend actually. Very little pops. After reading reviews I was expecting to be amazed actually. Let's be a bit more specific. 3- dessert. I had the tapioca. We'll cooked, but combined with a passion fruit and coconut. The acidity of passion fruit was covering every other flavors and was overwhelming. Lack on balance. Nice presentation though. 4- dessert. My wife had the peach Melba. A revisit, but a miss. Peaches were very nice, but vanilla semifreddo was totally ordinary. Hard to believe it be homemade, even harder to believe they've used real vanilla beans. 5- Pithiviers de canard. Not done with puff dough while it should be. The orange flavor in the meet overcomes the duck taste and becomes the primary taste. A big big miss. Let's go back to basics. On the plus side 1- they have a Sancerre from Vacheron that I love and hadn't drink in 15 years. Very pleasant. Tried it, likely won't return. I'd rather go to Bateau, Petit Cochon or Rockcreek Seafood

Perhaps i only gave it 3 stars because it was built up so much before I arrived by the people who told me about it, or because the service was impeccable, or because the food prices were so reasonable... for what was a lovely evening. Nope, it's because my dinner, the scallops in corn sauce was straight gross. And despite so much flawless execution, the mood felt from the staff was cold, as cold as my scallops. The tomato salad was amazing. Honestly the only food I enjoyed.

Megan Boyer

Excellent spot to spend time alone or talk business. Prices were good for how much you get. Food and feeling reminds me of Kansas City.

Tracey MacRae

Copine is a jewel. Last night was likely my 6th visit to this food mecca. Impeccable service, both warm and gracious, with Jill Kinney floating around the inviting and stylish room. Perfect dry martini made with the exclusive Zyr vodka to start. Chef McCrain is focused and dedicated to not only beautifully executed food, but also the sensory experience that comes with dining on perfectly sourced ingredients. Each course and plate were luminous and cohesive. Hamachi crudo, delicate, light and earthy with pickled shiitake...set off with a gorgeous avocado mousse. Four gras terrine, buttery, rich and savvily matched with strawberries and rich almond butter. Carnaroli risotto, in a word, ethereal. Almost fluffy...napped with parmesan mousseline and studded with English peas and morels. I can continue to pontificate on the mains: caramelized sea scallops, Valley farms rabbit 3-ways and grilled ribeye with bone marrow brioche and charred cabbage.....but I digress. Get into Copine and treat yo' self to this amazing restaurant.

Robert Gonzalez

Really slow service from the start. Our server gave us three water refills before finally offering to take our order, said she needed to put the water pitcher down and disappeared for another 10 minutes. The food was forgettable as well even though it was prepared decently. This was a birthday dinner (party of 2), and I was ready to leave before we had even ordered because of the service level.

Marjorie Livingston

Delicious, excellent service, fairly quiet. First, an exotic drink, then a shared heart of palm salad, and fresh bread. We were served a gift appetizer. Entrees were a steak and an order of scallops. All of the orders were top notch, fresh, carefully cooked and sophisticated in presentation. I would love to go more often.

Max Soi

The precise preparation of each dish allowed all the ingredients to really shine. Everything tasted exquisitely delicious. Service was very warm and professional. Well worth a the price. Great place for a special dinner. The complimentary amuse bouche was salmon with roe. Bread was fresh baked at the restaurant. This restaurant is comparable to some Michelin 1 or 2 star restaurants.

Jason Malvin

Loved most of the meals on the menu. Also the chocolate dessert and ice cream is delicious.

Rob Calhoun

Food is excellent. Service was a tiny bit stilted last time and there was a slight mix-up with two dishes of the same kind but different temps.

Diego Torres

Copine is a smaller sized restaurant, with modern decor. Not exactly romantic, but whomever you bring here will be impressed. The service is superb. Attentive, friendly, and well informed about the menu. The food is easily among the best in town. The menu is small, but I believe it changes often. The menu items are French influenced. Some highlights I experienced were the dinner rolls, which were house-made challah: excellent. The foie gras: could almost have been served as dessert, smooth and creamy. The scallops: perfectly cooked. The rabbit, tasty and adorable French cut rack. And finally, the profiteroles: get them! Prices are a little higher than average, but for a restaurant of this caliber, very reasonable. Expect to pay $90-$100-per person before wine/cocktails. May sound like a lot, but worth it! There is free parking in the building with validation.

Lucas Duffey

House smoked cherries are awesome Ruvin was an outstanding bartender - excellent service My favorite dish was the Chilled English pea soup - excellent combination. The smoked peas were the star of the dish and the onions gave the dish a nice acidic pop.

One of the best steaks I've ever had. My girlfriend had the scallops and they were fantastic as well. Can't wait to go back!

We were really excited when Copine opened just a block away from us. We made reservations, got all gussied up and walked over. Everything was on point. The space is beautiful. The food is kick ass. The wine list is amazing. We were extremely happy. Also, my boyfriend and I play this game where one of us will choose everything we will eat by pointing at the menu instead of saying the order out loud so the other person is completely surprised when the food arrives. It was great great fun.

The atmosphere is elegant with marvelous knowledgeable and attentive staff , yet the food , beautiful and arranged, is more like meditative appetizers than dinner.. I said to my friend,” tiny food on big plates presented with big pomp and circumstance” , he said “that’s French” would not go back

Michael Walton

Kenneth Rawlings

The meal was amazing from beginning to end. We were served a salmon amuse bouche and roll. I started with foie gras, had lamb for my main course, and finished off with passion fruit tapioca. I will definitely be going back.

David Ellis

Fantastic cooking, great service in a very lovely location. Quiet and elegant.

Lindsey Gelfer

Very good. Fun exciting food.

I came here with colleagues and I would come back on a date. The atmosphere was simple and elegant, and the service and food we're excellent! Definitely pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.
