REVIEWS OF Canlis IN Washington

Michelle Watkinson

My husband surprised me as a beautiful birthday dinner during our trip to Seattle. Canlis provides an adventure in the culinary world. You will not be disappointed trying anything they bring to the table. They painstakingly pair all dishes with flavor and serve it on Beau Rush pieces of art.

Gari Weber

Had dinner here for the first time. Staffing is amazing and efficient. Food was well done. Ladies restroom has individual stalls, hooks and smelled lovely. You get your choice of paper towels or a disposable thick Canlis towel. Lotion and Lola lady products available if needed. Sitting room also available.

Sophie Reid

One of the most memorable dining experiences we've ever encountered. We opted for the wine pairing with dinner and were not disappointed. Our bar and table servers were both excellent. Judicious levels of humor, courtesy and space. Only minor criticism was the table we were initially given. Very poor view and ambience (which, let's face it is what you go to Canlis for). We requested a better table. It was absolutely worth the wait. We'd return for a special occasion without hesitation.

Brent Hunt

Venue is amazing, food was good but only okay especially for the price.

C Jac

For the price, I expect to leave full. I'm not a big person either. Very small portions.

Chris D

We had a great dinner at Canlis! The most professional and courteous staff we have ever been served by. Food and drinks were amazing, wine pairing was perfect Will definitely be going back!

John Osgood

Beautiful spot for a cocktail in the lounge.

Yingkai Wang

Great view in the large guest room. There is a private bar so you can order whatever you want. Awesome service throughout. The food is among the tops. Overall great experience here and worth a visit.

Cadyn Ray

My husband John and I dined here for my 26th birthday. The experience was unforgettable. Best dining experience in Seattle so far. Emily and Erica made the experience even more personal and enjoyable. Thanks ladies!

Josh Christian

Canlis is by far the finest restaurant in the Northwest - nothing comes close to their quality, service, attention to detail and just the overall experience. Best martini’s in Seattle as well. They remember our favorite table, drinks, etc. each time we return. Very pricey but it’s worth it if you enjoy world-class fine dining. Not sure why they don’t have a Michelin star or two, but it rivals other Michelin-rated restaurants I’ve experienced. For dessert try the soufflé, a test for any great restaurant and they pull it off flawlessly every time!

Christine Kettler

Amazing experience, and you get what you pay for. Spent ~$450 for 2 people, which included the 4 course meal, alcoholic drinks, tax, tip.

Carlos Jose

Hawaiian nights staff are aweful at customer service. Treat you really bad. Not coming back

jimmy zhu

nice view and delicious foods

Andrew Springer

Thai is one of the finest dinning experiences you can have in Seattle. the view is incredible and the service is over the top. When it comes to food there was nothing that wasn’tperfect, each bite was an exploding of flavor and sometimes surprising. I very much recommend that you experience what is Canlis.

Mark Guenter

The food was spectacular, and the service was outstanding.

A M

Great service as usual... food is fine but I am still missing the open menu

Saleh Ahmed

One of the most incredible culinary experiences. Every dish was perfection and the service was better more than we expected with an incredibly knowledgeable and personable wait staff.

Robert Macias

Excellent service. Delightful flavors

Clark Davis

Excellent service. Excellent cuisine. Excellent ambiance. Place ticks all the boxes. Always a fantastic experience.

Deborah Breda

Our dining experience was magnificent. The wait staff was exceptional and the views breath-taking. Attention to detail, gourmet four course dinner and superior hospitality make this a place not to be missed.

Gavin Lees

When somewhere has a 6 month waiting list and a $250 per head price tag, you can't help but build it up in your mind. Canlis is in a great location with amazing views, and the service is impeccable. However, the food is... fine. I have had better meals at less expensive establishments, and better cocktails almost anywhere. I didn't have an awful time, but I can't say I'll be anxious to return.

Karen Bell

Excellent fine dining. Great setting. Live piano music. Of the 4 courses only one (each) was ordinary - the malted pancake (saved by the sauce) and the rabbit sausage (a bit blah). The remaining courses were superb, and there were also delicious bonus bites (bread, rabbit liver tarts, macarons etc). Highly recommended.

Emily Buchach

Amazing experience. If you have the money for it, it's worth it. I've never been to anything alike.

Susan Lillard

We went last weekend and all we can say is, "Wow". The ambiance, the tasting menu and the service were all excellent. Our server, Ashley, was amazing and the meal was exquisitely prepared and served. This is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. After a specially prepared, vegetarian dinner, we thoroughly enjoyed the Amuse-Bouche series. Five stars!

Alexis Pontikis

Great final night of the Hawaiian pop up!

Keith

Amazing! Everything was absolutely perfect.

Tabitha Day

One of the most widely recognized fine dining establishments in Seattle, and recent winner of the James Beard Award for Best Chef Northwest. Located in a timeless modern home designed in 1950, the spacious dining room offers stunning views of Seattle and the Cascade mountain range. Reservations were easy to acquire two weeks in advance via Resy. The menu consists of four courses of inventive, seasonally inspired New American, priced at $135. Diners choose between a few options for each course, creating an individualized tasting menu. I was provided with a fully vegetarian menu, which was just slightly more limited than the standard offering. Fantastic wine list, as well as inspired cocktails. I loved the "King Kalakaua", an exquisitely balanced mix of smoked pineapple, Plantation OFTD, Agricole Rhum, cinnamon, and lime. Before our selected courses even began, three courses of amuse bouche arrived as elegant bite sized introductions. Every one of them was spectacular, with my favorites being the savory sea vegetable macaron, and the delicate olive bread with crème fraiche. The bread course was also excellent, featuring a hearty house baked boule dusted in matcha powder.

Karl Smith

Canlis is a great special occastions restaurant. Takes a while to get a reservation but well worth it. Great ambiance with spectacular views and the food is scrumptious. The service really is amazing at this place, you feel very well taken care off. I like that they have prix fixe menu, so no avoiding the dessert.

Alina Someone Somebody

Excellent service. Thoughtful food. Very wonderful sensory experience.

Mauricio Diaz

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there and I only can say wow! The food, the service and a friend surprise (who recommended me Canlis). We’ll be back for sure before our next anniversary ;)

Bob

Absolutely phenomenal. The deviled quail egg they brought us between plates was the best tasting thing ive ever put in my mouth. Expensive but well worth it for the experience.

Wendy Ashby

It was my son's wedding today at Canlis. And it just couldn't have been more perfect it is a fabulous place with fabulous staff

Winkie Chen

I enjoy the atmosphere, service and opportunity to dress up when coming here. Unfortunately the food has really not lived up to the reputation of this almost institutional establishment in Seattle. While the starters are always fun and mostly tasty, the 2nd and main courses have really been disappointing especially for the price. This has been our experience at least 3 times in the past years. The tabs are often over 1K for a party of four. Unlikely to try again given the cost and repeated disappointment.

Stephen Cookson

A bit of an odd place. Staff were unhappy that I wasn't wearing a jacket and went away to find me one. Customers at neighbouring table played yiu tube and sand along to songs while staff watched and clearly didn't know how to handle situation. Nice view. Food nothing special. While experience seemed very old fashioned and stuffy. If I was visiting again I wouldn't bother to return.

Afshan

I really wanted to like Canlis, I really did. But I did not. Went their for my birthday last year and I am just around getting to write this review as I was going through my pictures. The ambience is wonderful, the feel of this place is romantic without trying too hard and it has a good view if you get a good table. The amuse bouche were delicious but the food overall were very underwhelming. I don't remember what we had because honestly nothing was memorable. For the birthday celebrations, they did a good job putting the soufflé together but they brought it out at 11:30 instead of midnight when it was time to ring in my birthday. The service is good without being extra but I have had better experiences else where. I don't think I will be returning here because the visit is quite costly on the pocket.

Erik Wakefield

The experience was second to none, although I typically don't wear my suit coat when I'm sitting down or eating. The food itself was very tasty, but don't be fooled by the high price, you won't get much to eat. That's not to say that I went away hungry, but the same money will get you several meals at other high end restaurants around Seattle. You might want to have your driver stop at Dick's for a snack on your way home.

J D

Five stars all the way! Superb food, service, atmosphere. Everything was great!

Christina Sanchez

What's a cooler way to spend a Friday/Saturday evening than at Canlis (well... Canlis' parking lot) but they have a great area all decked out in Hawaiian flair and also was happy to see both brothers running around handling the door and taking drink orders. Also cool to see their father was hanging out as well.

Jessica Jones

My main course was the pork, and it was my first time seeing the raw pork as a dish, so I asked to make it well done, but it was still not well done until I asked the second time. Our server told me that it was delicious, but I will still not recommend it, and you will understand if you do some research online.

B.B.J Show

Seattle best best best number 1 restaurant!!!!! I know it is expensive, but if you go once or twice a year for special days, you can spend that much money. If you taste one of their foods, you will know it is worthy. Then excellent service, great view, romantic moods!! They have everything for making you and everyone happy. You will extremely satisfied. Once again, it is expensive but worthy for one or two times a year.

Julia Ember

Wonderful! Since we moved to Seattle from Edinburgh, we have been a little disappointed with the fine dining scene. Canlis is the first place we’ve been in the Pacific Northwest that rivals the best European restaurants. Excellent food and knowledgeable, attentive staff. The menu is packed with fresh, seasonal flavours and the presentation is classic. Wonderful views out over the city as you dine!

Jeff Marcoux

Canlis is an experience, not just a restaurant. The family are amazing members of the community and they treat their customers as family, as a part of their community. The food is amazing, the scotch selection second to none in Seattle, and I cannot recommend the Canlis Coffee enough to finish off your night. Prepare to be amazed by subtle things that just make the night go seamlessly and for a full experience, not just a meal.

Jordan Murphy

The pinnacle Seattle dining experience.

Todd Howard

Met friends here for dinner and were not disappointed. A lovely elegant and refined atmosphere. Service was impeccable and friendly. Our food was outstanding...beautifully prepared and presented and melt in your mouth goodness. Dessert was grande Marnier soufflés which were the very best I have ever had....Expensive but worth every penny....

Kevin Smith

A must eat when in Seattle. I do not live in Seattle, but I travel there once a year and I usually make a reservation to eat here. It is expensive, there is no arguing that. However, the service and hospitality you receive is unlike any other restaurant you will visit. Plan to dress up and feel like royalty for a night when you dine-in here. The lighting, piano music, and view of Lake Union is worth the visit. This really is one of the fanciest restaurants in Seattle. I recommend making a reservation well in advance and ask for a window seat so you get the best view of Lake Union and beyond. This isn't a restaurant to go to in the spur of the moment. Plan ahead. Make reservations. Enjoy the experience! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great night out in Seattle.

Ryan Satterthwaite

By far the best dining experience I've ever had! My wife and I went for the first time for our anniversary and we were blown away! The service, food, wine and overall ambiance is like nothing we've ever seen. Sommelier Nelson Daquip was absolutely incredible! Along with the rest of the staff, they made our night one that we will cherish and remember for the rest of our lives. There aren't enough words to describe how amazing this place is. Canlis is a must see!

Wayne Lee

Food and scenery was outstanding..we loved the food and staff was exceptional.. if I had to absolutely say anything negative...your seated close I'll n some areas and the guests next to you can hear ya talk..so if you are any chance trying to do the dinner drink and talk your way into bed...you might talk the couple next to you in on it also..cause they will hear ya.. but you gotta go..

Alison Bliven

Hawaiian night was super fun! Great cocktails and bar food

Philip O'Leary

Only went for a the Hawaiian night pop up. It was lovely, staff was very charming.

Kristen Vogel

Words cannot express what a wonderful experience this was.

Jacqui Mount

A wonderful experience all-around, even if you choose to eat/drink in the lounge. Great food, great drinks, and amazing service. Also loved the pianist!

Sammi Thornet

Thai is one of the finest dinning experiences you can have in Seattle. the view is incredible and the service is over the top

Jacinda Boso

Canlis is nothing short of amazing. The staff was attentive and kind. The view even at the table furthest from the window was outstanding. I’m vegetarian and they had a whole new menu to bring out for me. There’s not a thing that I would change about my experience. The food is some of the best I’ve had I hope to share this with more friends and family sometime soon.

Jessica Jones

Brian Jaszkowiak

What can you say about Canlis that hasn’t been said before? The classic, romantic atmosphere, the exquisite service, the precision and deliciousness in their food, and their extensive wine collection. Canlis lives up to all of its hype. It was quite the experience and highly recommended to anyone that lives or visits Seattle.

Marie Hutchins

Over the past decade we dined at Canlis for special occassions and it was always top notch. The experience and food are not the same. Too much salt in their foods more than I ever experienced at any restaurant. It was difficult to enjoy the taste of the food. Not to mention the health issues with that much salt intake. The servers were trained to handle a cookie cutter menu. We required a slight modification and she simply couldn't get it straight. The hostess and valet were the only positive reviews to share. We won't be back.

Connor Tee

Weekend BBQ is really good. Food up to canlis standards & surprisingly excellent service for such a casual thing. Do NOT get two wrecked ships unless there's like 7+ of you.

Ashwin Sukumar

I had heard so much about Canlis ever since I moved here. My wife was sweet enough to find reservations on my birthday. Make sure you wear a sports coat if you are a guy. We got quite a grand view of Lake union and Gas works park from our table. The dinner was simply extraordinary. The service was so outstanding that I felt I was a celebrity! It is a set 4 course meal, each meal has one veggie option. Really hard to pick and choose. The staff helped us pick the dishes by giving us quite a detailed description of them. In between the courses, we got quite a few tasty small bites. Canlis salad, haiku rice, lamb and the souffle were the options I chose. You cant go wrong with any of the choices. So go for it. This is a place every one should go visit once at least. Well, my wife wants to go here next weekend also lol!!!

Peter Daniell

Missing the wagyu steak

Jed Meyers

Nice view, service was excellent. Some very strong courses, but the tuna was definitely disappointing.

Chrisby

Came here for an anniversary. Will never forget it.

Tom Strebel

If you don't like this, then you are the problem. Food, service, ambience. Tough to beat any of those anywhere in the world.

Brandi Carnes

Pure heaven. The service is impeccable. The food is adventurous. The drinks are amazing. I can’t speak highly enough of this Seattle institution.

Tommy Kim

Great restaurant that is still good but not as good as ten years ago

Hans Fritz

So classy - just the most beautiful location. The architecture, styling, and view are worth a visit by themselves, but the service and offerings really put it over the top. Really enjoyed my time here and looking forward to going again!

Bob Snob

Exceptional service. Hands down the best I've ever experienced. Anywhere. The food is very well done albeit a bit predictable. Great views. Amazing wine list. Helpful sommelier. Great private party rooms with dedicated planners and staff to make sure ant event is flawless. A Seattle institution.

Cindy Helfrich

Very fine food and drink. I don't drink alcohol but my companions were very pleased with the wine and drink offerings and recommendations. Very helpful host and staff. Maybe the very BEST rare Japanese steak I've ever had, and very interesting and artistic appetizers and other dishes, including their classic salad, Dungeness crab with kohlrabi, and a sumptuous dessert souffle. Perfect serving sizes. Again, a very friendly and helpful staff, describing the appetizers and dishes. Mistakes were made with several orders and the bill but, again, the staff were very apologetic and helpful, and quick to correct and accommodate. Would I return? In a heartbeat, but I suspect generally above my price range. I was a guest in my first visit. The quality of the food and service may be well worth an occasional indulgence. I'd certainly consider a return visit. Spectacular view of the Lake Union and mountains.

Herakles Li

What can be said about Canlis that has not been said in all its other glowing reviews? Their chef is now a James Beard Award winner and it is well deserved. The food, service (absolutely stellar staff!!!), atmosphere, all were amazing. From the first step out of my car we were treated to an exquisite experience. I don't think I could add anything more eloquent than what much more talented writers have said of this place so I will only say - yes it is indeed worth it.

Matteo Martinelli

Perfect oysters for a perfect dinner.

Nate Tellari

The coursed meal was delicious, the Lamb and mushrooms Devine, the desert fabulous, the wine pairing was amazing, and great service all around. Thank you so much!

Nick Fraker

Canlis is always a beautiful experience. I rarely feel as cared for or about as when my wife and I visit the restaurant, and the food is consistently better than I remember it being. I'm not sure how they perform as well as they do

Alex Schuldberg

Spectacular service, amazing wine, and excellent food. Obviously it's incredibly expensive, but they make sure that the price feels worth it. An excellent choice for special occasions. Our waiter was probably be best I've ever had, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and he gave us advice on our upcoming trip to Japan!

Daniel Williams

Fantastic. The service really takes care of you and is smoothly coordinated from when you valet until you are ready to leave. The menu is pick a dish from 4 different sections and all the choices are delicious so picking isn't easy. They also have an extensive wine menu and unique cocktails. I really recommend the Akaji cocktail.

Jeremiah Klashorst

A remarkable meal, but priced for special occasions only.

Bob Johnson

The Canlis brings to mind the tale of the Emperor's New Clothes. It was very expensive, portions were small and food was served warm; not hot. This was intentional I was told. I like my food hot. Beautiful setting, great ambiance and good service.

Chris Yates

I proposed to my girlfriend here and the staff was very helpful in making sure everything went perfect. Awesome service and food. Highly recommend!

Gregory Cody

Enjoyed the view and drinks...the food wasn't up to the standards they imply.

Izabela Ivanova

Most exceptional culinary experience. Special occasion place! Excellent customer service.

J. K. M.

Excellent service and beautiful ambience! I went to Canlis with my friend and her dad to treat them during their visit to America and this was such a perfect spot. We called ahead because we had some special requests and they were happy to cater to our needs. Every single dish we ordered was executed well and the dessert was great. The experience was definitely worth the $125 + service and more. Highly recommended.

Rene Aguilar

Everything about this fine dining experience is amazing

lionel bodin

Canlis is the best, the whole experience from arriving to leaving is top notch. Nothing pretentious, what's in the plate is really amazing, delicate. Every dish is like a firework on your palate.

Darrin Scilley

Classic 5-star American dining in the burbs, giving every table a sweeping view of the Seattle skyline. Waitstaff will go out of their way to make it a special night, and is flexible with last-minute accommodations. Great menu rotation and wine list. We'll be back. But Canlis hasn't lost touch with Seattle's quirky side, either. Make a reservation MTW, and you'll realize that most patrons sport a charcoal grey suit. Did we magically teleport to trust-fund country in the upper east side? Canlis is just 10 minutes from downtown; bring a change of clothes or stop by the condo before heading over... northwest fine dining isn't a black-tie affair. If you're not looking to talk business, your party may prefer Th-Sun when clientele is less stodgy.

Patricia Lew

This was the BEST service that I have ever received at a restaurant. Our server, I believe her name was Anna, was professional and personable...... Every restaurant needs to look towards Canlis as the bar for amazing customer service. Get their salad and their souffle!

Jason Chernetskiy

Amazing setting, fine dining service is of top quality. Food was prepared very well and everything was delicious. Waiters were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Overall 10/10 fine dining experience!

Rich Wilkie

Best restaurant (food plus experience) I have ever been to. This should be on everyone's list

Roger Knopf

Easily the best food in Seattle and beyond-superb service. Some think it is expensive, and it's not cheap, but we have been in similar restaurants around the world (Troisgros, Bocuse, etc) and we felt for this level of food and service it was a bargain.

Emma Miid

If you are looking for sophisticated dishes, served in an unusual way and you are in Seattle, I highly recommend Canlis. Delicious food, service at the highest level. Come and certainly you will not be disappointed - guarantees. I will definitely go there more than once with friends

sera arapurakal

Amazing evening at canlis..I underestimated how much food they serve. Though they have a four course meal it's more like eight different dishes by the time your done ..I was so incredibly full. Each did was delightful. Great mix of savory and sweet. My personal favorites were the lamb and the rabbit

Stacey Brock

We dined here few weeks ago, and liked everything about it. The service was great and the food was amazing.

Christina Dudley

A magical experience, from the views to the service to the food. The orange liqueur souffle I had to finish the meal was the best I'd had in decades!

Kohei Tabata

Increadible, just amazing. Warm and welcoming hospitality. Creative and beafutiful dishes.

Rachel Michalkiewicz

Absolutely amazing food, atmosphere and experience. I would love to go again and again.

Jon Solomon

Can't really add anything that hasn't already been said. Staff was very accommodating to our needs.

WIlliam Lehman

The food is great, the service is everything service should be, and nothing it should not be. The view is amazing. The prices are abserb, so what? It's not every day, but it should be experienced. Dress up, and go.

Katie Schueler

I took my friend here for his birthday.I hesitated because of prices , rarely have a ton of money for this type of dinning. It was worth it! I tried duck for the first time... Amazing! They gave us truffle fries which were the BEST I've ever had. I dreamt about that desert. Service was great too! Every one was super nice and helpful. They even wrote "happy Birthday" on my friend's desert which was a nice touch. This is definitely worth the money for a overall great time!

Lee Haviv

From the entrance waking into the Resturant greeting us with pleasant welcoming to a lovely service lead by supper sweet Sarah all the way to delicious food with great selection of wine. Perfect place to celebrate my 42 birthday. Thank you Canlis for making this day so special. Lee

Paula Slater

An amazing night! Absolutely love them!

Roydyn C

Was not overly impressed by the food last time we visited. First time was fantastic.

Tarakorn Angpubate

Beautiful restaurant with fantastic views. Delicious and beautifully presented. Excellent staff service.

Evan Abrass

Wow! This place is worth the experience, the amount of details they focus on was so unique to make your night special

Brad Cash

Amazing experience when shared with special people.

Jocelyn Wang

View is more than amazing. The view along is worth 6

Jennie Burns

We come here for our anniversary and are never disappointed. From the time you are greeted at valet to when you leave the service is exceptional. The staff are top notch. The 4 course meal is easily enough to share for 2. The mixed drinks are ok. The wine very good. The food is good. Some interesting choices and fun items to try. Fantastic wine selections, great views, and top notch service. Worth every penny! Tasting menu and Chef are both world class. We will return

Ben Krack

Canlis has a riveting atmosphere and great food. The only setback is the price.

Paula Spilsbury

Went to Canlis for a night of celebration of a dear friend's birthday. Atmosphere, wonderful...Service, outstanding... Food, appetizers very interesting and delish, salad was awesome, main course...hmm? the rib eye folks loved the entrees, the chicken folks ended up with raw in the middle chicken breasts they were too embarrassed to ask to be redone. I had the fettuccine /mushroom entree which was tasty but not at all to a temp acceptable. I too did not want to make a fuss at my friend's party and come across as "one of THOSE people". Too bad because this was my very first time at Canlis and was hoping it to be our 'destination' restaurant when our out of town family and/or friends came to the great PNW to visit. Maybe we will give this restaurant another try and hope it can meet the expectations we were/are hoping to see.

Beth Anne Kreger

Always lovely - exceptional & attentive service without being intrusive + lovely food. You feel well taken care of from arrival to departure. Best special occasion venue in the city.

Spencer Gray

Canlis is the nicest restaurant in Seattle and maybe all of Washington (I'm not up to date on E. WA restaurant offerings). The service is impeccable and food is amazing! Best view in town as you can see the mountains, city and Lake Union! These photos are from the bar. I highly recommend trying to get a window seat to maximize the experience. If you love wine, champagne or scotch they have one of the worlds best rated selections and largest cellars. This restaurant and their personalized service is one you will remember forever! We have eaten at a number of top restaurants around the world and this one is #1 on our list. Thank you to the Canlis family and staff for unforgettable memories!

Dawn C

They are on top of everything! Food is great but try did change their menu to a four course menu. The view is of lake union and the windows are always impeccably clean. Love the man/woman that comes to take away your bread crumbs! Piano isn't too loud and is always tasteful. Drinks are about $16 each and dinner is $135 per person.

Akram Sheikh

I am uber driver I am always be there this place may be 2 twice a week I am not problem with the place but the staff of the valet very very rude and disrespectful I dont liked the way they change attitude because I am driving mini van it means am not value I am bring you ..your customer who is paying alot of money to enjoy his/her meal and beautiful view south lake union but my friend you need to change the attitude specially front staff the short man has worst attitude

MJ Morton

Fabulous dining and very relaxing evening.

Michael Stefanskiac

I recently celebrated my birthday at Canlis and had an incredible experience. The experienced started with the valet parking at entrance, the staff welcoming us in and taking our coats, to being seated with an incredible view overlooking Seattle and the water. I started my meal with the Sunchoke. It was prepared in several ways, with a unique variety of textures and flavors. It was a tad adventurous for me, but quite a unique flavor experience overall. My second course was the Rabbit, which is breaded and lightly fried. The rabbit did not taste game-y at all, and the potatoes it was served with had amazing flavor. I was excited to have the ribeye for my third course. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, super tender to the bite and amazing flavor. The fermented garlic had a fantastic richness and creamy garlic flavor. The radicchio was quite bitter, and I didn't quite care for it. I concluded my meal with the souffle, which was probably the best souffle I've had. It was perfectly cooked, rich in flavor and served with a rich cream. The madeleines on the side were fantastic as well. From start to finish, the restaurant had absolutely incredible service. The food itself was perhaps 4 stars, there were certain elements that I was not particularly impressed / blown away by. However, it was very clear that in terms of service the restaurant covered every single possible element and component. While the meal itself is expensive, it should be expected given the circumstances.

Cyndy Dinsel

Was there for an alumni happy hour event. The service was impeccable. The different hors d’oeurves were delicious. They served a lamb slider, a fried chicken slider, Dungeness crab leg wrap and a tempura mushroom. The tempura mushroom was disappointing because the deep fried tempura batter was all that you could really taste. Small enough to not drop the rating. The view was gorgeous - overlooking south lake Union.

Amando Hopper

nice waitress and nice chef. Taste wonderful

Briana Cox

Food was fantastic, the wait staff was so attentive and kind, and the drinks were perfect.

so yeon Pak

Iconic Seattle fine-dining establishment. Extensive wine list that takes you around the world - let's just say I had a jumpstart to wine from Canlis which is arguably has one of the best wine lists in the world.

Ivory A

The service were very friendly and the view were fantastic, food was decent. I couldn’t reserved window seats with 2 people but when we arrived I asked if we could sit by the window and we did get window seats. All the servers were very friendly since you set foot in the restaurant. The view was beautiful especially on a sunny day in Seattle. We get to watch the sun set a bit from the restaurant. The food were four-course-meal and you get to pick which dishes you’d like for each course. The bread and the complementary appetizers were great, the main entrée were good but not amazing. The coffee was really good so if you have room for a cup, make sure to get one!

Ann Culligan

Canlis is everything you've heard, and then some. Perfect food, perfect presentation, perfect atmosphere - this is a go-at-least-once-in-a-lifetime place.

Patty Neil

The care and ambience were excellent in addition to great food and view.

Johnny Deng

Went here for an anniversary many years ago. Was in a different place in my life, and wasn't prepared for the degree of the fine dining experience. Nevertheless, Canlis treated me very well, went above and beyond in terms of service. Valet quality actually blew my mind - they remembered each customer down to the car, and sprinted away as I approached the door leaving the restaurant. Food was lovely, did the seasonal chef's menu. A lot of focus on technique and execution similar to other french style fine dining restaurants. Not my particular taste overall, but the experience was really worth it and I felt welcome.

Diann Mangan

I am very disappointed in Canlis. As a Seattle resident and (former) fan of Canlis, I am utterly amazed at the total disregard for local people and loyalty to local people and return customers this restaurant exhibits. My husband and I celebrated our wedding dinner at Canlis ten years ago this month. Do you think we can get a table for two ten years later? No way. I tried a month ago to get a reservation for our ten year anniversary this coming Thursday and was put on a waitlist. The way to get off the waitlist is to respond immediately to an email that goes out alerting you to an opening. I'm sorry but I'm a teacher and I don't have time to watch my email for a Canlis opening. This whole experience has totally soured my regard for this restaurant and I'm now planning my anniversary elsewhere. I won't be trying Canlis again.

Food, service, view, ambiance. All fantastic. Sell a kidney a child of you have to.

We enjoyed a lovely experience at this restaurant. I couldn’t recommend a better place to entertain an evening

Went for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. We went with the 4 course option. The options were wonderful and in order to try multiple things my husband and I each got something different. We tried 8 different items and loved them all. The artistry with the cooking and plating blew us away. The ambiance of the restaurant was a little dark, but it set the romantic mood and the views of the lake are unbeatable. Obviously, when you come to a restaurant like this you know it's going to be a little pricey and it is, but the food and the service justifies the cost especially for special occasions. Be mindful of the dress code. I definitely recommend Canlis for any special occasions and celebrations!

The restaurant is beautiful. Magnificent views. The service was 11/10. You would be hard-pressed to find a more extensive wine list, literally pages of domaine de la romanée conte wines. The food was very good, but I didn’t leave thinking “I need to come back here soon”, thus four stars. $660 all in for two people (~$250 on the wine). This restaurant is worth a try, if you are willing to pay the price of admission.

This is the place to go dressed to the nines. Wear your fanciest dress and prepare to step back into time. Love it.

Shaun Wahle

Loved the ambience and the service. The food was fantastic, but for some reason wasn't extremely memorable. The flow of courses made for a nice relaxing evening with plenty to talk about.

To use the analogy of an amusement park, Canlis is still the best ride in the park. We had a wonderful dinner there last night. The food was exquisite the service the same but I will not go on that ride again. The cost/value ratio has tipped and $475 for two people with 1 drink and 1 glass of house wine each has tipped the balance. I will find a new ride!! It is still the best restaurant in town and if cost is not a factor, the place to dine. The wine pours are skimpy but not a big deal. Very sad for me since I have been a patron going back to the 1960's and new the Canlis family and the Manager very well (still do). The blade is just too deep in the ground. Chester W.

One of the best dining experiences in Seattle! The magnificent views and stellar food are only outdone by the service. 10/10

We had a private company dinner in the executive room. Beautiful view of the water. The restaurant is well furnished and has low lighting. Staff is incredible! Everytime a patron walks by, they all step aside and offer to help you find where you're going. They also have the most amazing restrooms I've ever seen. It's like looking into a zoo habitat. The food was good, but a little pretentious. Wine is overpriced (as is usual in a restaurant). They allowed us to bring our own wine, but I believe the corkage fee was around $35 per bottle. The minimum we had to spend for the room was also incredibly high. Our office is small, so with spouses, we only had 10 people. We had to add an extra person, specialty drinks, coffee, and desserts to meet it. Overall experience was great, but I don't think we'll be returning for another private dinner.

Beautiful ambiance, food, and service from the moment we arrived. The tasting menu offers a perfect combination of flavors and textures, and the wine pairings were spot on. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this experience and wouldn't change a thing.

We were so surprised with the delicious prefix dinner, every dish was beautifully decorated and tasty . The service was superb, gratuity to the staffs were well deserved. We moved from NYC, where there is an abundance of top rated restaurants. We missed the ambience and the food there, but Canlis can easily be rated up there with the best rated in the east coast.

This is a bit tough- we had a very dichotomous experience at Canlis on my birthday. On one hand the wine list is expansive and thoughtful, the ambiance wonderful, the dishes and glassware the finest you can buy, and the sommelier was on point. But... the mixed drinks were calibrated, the food is fine but boring, and the service was completely off. We sat at the bar and nobody wanted to "own" us. Our glasses often went empty, we had to ask for napkins and plates. The bartender and waiter kept clumsily taking turns handing us off between the other and then ignoring us. We would go long periods without interaction and then multiple people would all of a sudden realize what had happened and all try to intervene at once, forcing us to remake the same requests 2 or 3 times. I could live with that if I hadn't dropped nearly a grand on the night... but we did. So are there things about this restaurant that are great? Absolutely- in many ways it's the nicest and highest end restaurant in Seattle. But can I recommend it for an overall nice evening, especially at its price point? Unfortunately not.

Dylan Evans

4 course meal with the best view in Seattle. Highly recommend that you get a reservation at a minimum month in advance. Everything that you pay for here is worth it and incredible.

Richard Alpert

From beginning to end it's the best dining experience I ever had. Worth every penny!

George Long

Great service, wine list, and food. Great restful experience. First class.

Brendon Keelan

Came here for the Hawaiian BBQ popup that Canlis hosted in their parking lot. Very different atmosphere than what I would imagine they're normal dinner service is but very well done. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the small plates and cocktails.

Nicole Stell

You get what you pay for, and you will pay believe me. It’s worth it but they could make the portions a little bigger. I get trying to be the fancy “one bite”restaurant, however when I spend $500 on food and cocktails, I want to feel satisfied, not still hungry.

Great views. Fantastic servers. We were there with a group. Disappointing food choices if you are whole food plant based. We chose the mushroom risotto without cheese. They couldn't do that but they had a carrot entree instead so we said yes. It was a bed of well seasoned carrots on top of a teaspoon of blackbeans. Both were delicious but you expect more for $135 a plate. We couldn't have any of they appetizers all meat and or cheese. Keep in mind we provided our preferences weeks ahead of time. Desert menu was not acceptable either but they did substitute a tiny scoop of a berry sorbet. Delicious again, just not what i would expect from a fine dining restaurant. We were able to ask for no cheese on the salad. Each piece had some flavor, but I would suggest salad from Vonn's 1000 Spirits instead. Vonn"s salad is an order of magnitude better. I wpuld rate Vonn"s salad an A÷ whereas Canlis' salad is just a B-. What was best was the conversation with members of the group. We did have a few drinks. The red wine with the meal was decent. I also had a pineapple (or pear?) cider before the meal. It was so-so. I would not go back if I had to pay for it. It was worth no more than $30/person including drinks IMO. At 135/person, there are superior choices elsewhere. The view is not worth an extra 105/person.

Garrett Smith

Great atmosphere, well crafted, original dishes.

Tairiny Simeonato

The place is so beautiful! Very well decorated, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The drinks were very delicious. The food was good, but only one dish stood out for me. The apple desert was the best dish of all.

Alex Grant

End to end, one of the most impressive dining experiences you can find in Seattle. They've spared no expense and it shows. The staff is excellent.

John Tyler

Amazing experience. Loved everything about Canlis

Dave JR

Beautiful view of the lake, stunning restaurant and amazing food and wine list. Menu is a 4 course choice, everything looked great. Didn't have a fixed price wine pairing, which was odd, but somelier had amazing knowledge so could sort one out.

Laura Walker

This is a beautiful building with a beautiful restaurant. The service is top notch. The food is delightful and well proportioned.

Deidra Frazier

Unbeatable service, menu, and staff. The BEST.

This is not a presidential debate but your names of use were mentioned by the other gas so you can sleep and you get more than 15 secondsis rice a statement and disgusting flowers about Ed attacks and targeting people of color but I do think there is part of the base I just have to face it when it's hard just weather the fake news deny everything strategy

Gavin Carew

Classic, great service, lovely food. Not the best food in Seattle IMO, but there's a whole lot more to a great restaurant experience than food and Canlis is impeccable in terms of service, atmosphere, and presentation. The ultimate experience for a special night out in Seattle.

Laura Bensona

We had dinner at Canlis on Saturday evening/night. We rented the Cache room and it was amazing. Dinner at Canlis isn't just dinner, it is an event! We ordered the four course dinner but ended up with like 8 courses of tasty tidbits. The service was excellent from Matt and Jess were our servers and they were fun, personable but knew when to give us time. Everyone at Canlis were great. The food was awesome. Try the Haiga rice, ridiculously good. The lamb was very good, shoot everything was excellent and fun to taste and try things. Best part was tasting things we didn't order. It wasn't a special event for us but we sure left feeling special. Spendy, yes but it is more than worth it.

Lynx Armstrong

One of a kind dining experience. This team is dialed in and delivers from start to finish. The staff execute their duties with surgical precision. The culinary experience brings unique and balanced flavor profiles, textures, temperatures, what treat. Suit up enjoy this fine dining experience!

Kerry Lebel

This place wasn’t just amazing food, it was an epic experience. The attention to detail, the ambiance, the top notch service and the wine list that never ends. My girlfriend has bad gluten and dairy allergies and they did an amazing job subbing out items she couldn’t eat. I would recommend Canlis to anyone looking for a true dining extravaganza.

TIFFANY SELLARO

I went here a few months ago for my birthday dinner. Excellent service & food. Would highly recommend!

Bonnie Campbell

This was such a fabulous experience. The atmosphere and service were excellent, but what made this truly memorable, was the incredible food. We did the classic wine pairing with our courses and they did an excellent job of choosing the wine that paired with the food. Though it is expensive, worth every penny.

Logan Littlefield

My partner and I had booked our dinner months in advance to celebrate our Birthdays. The experience as a whole inside the restaurant was phenomenal, the staff were friendly, engaging and able to suggest brilliant pairings. However, once our dinner concluded and we stepped outside we were met with a throng of obnoxious, drunken Hawaiian shirt clad patrons spilling from the Luau party in the lot. I expect to be exposed to that level of debauchery and rudeness anywhere else in the city, but for a $500 dollar dinner and drink tab it cheapened the entire experience and became the biggest takeaway for the night. I'd love to say I'll return, but if the Luau is on, never again.

Natalie Gemma

Classic, great service, lovely food. Not the best food in Seattle IMO, but there's a whole lot more to a great restaurant experience than food and Canlis is impeccable in terms of service, atmosphere, and presentation. The ultimate experience for a special night out in Seattle.

Randy Rush

Ever the Seattle shining star of culinary culture. Imposing and incredible wine list. Premier service and, of course, the Canalis salad. This is a dining experience that lives up to it's reputation.

Wolfe Pohl

A wonderful experience, fun and enjoyable staff, interesting and exciting meals, and all very high quality.

Lisa Dowling

I love this restaurant! Yes, it is pricey but for what you get, it is worth every cent! The food was spectacular. We did the wine pairing with it which I highly recommend. The wines complemented the food that was served so nicely. It's a true dining experience!

Sarah Evanson-Isaac

Five stars are not enough. This must be on your bucket list if you are at all a serious foodie. Every aspect of my dining experience here way too long ago was exemplary. The flashes of molecular gastronomy in several amuse bouches between courses showed creativity, humor and continued relevance.
