They really have bad credit. They charged me $21 for tips but it's the total amount I signed on the receipt. I meal I ate it's only $17. How dare they! Luckily I reviewed my card statements. I will never eat there!

TL; DR if you are 21+ the Watermelon SOJU is amazing, bulgogi fries are a must try, Budae Jjigae is worth a try! I was just chilling at my cousins' house one afternoon and then nonchalantly one of them said that he'd been craving for budae jjigae (Korean army base stew). The next thing I knew, we were in the car headed to Adam's Morgan! We ordered watermelon soju, calamari, bulgogi with rice, bulgogi fries, corn cheese, wings and the budae jjigae. I usually don't like alcohol but flavored soju is AMAZING... the watermelon masks the taste of alcohol so well, it ended up just tasting like watermelon juice. The calamari came out super crunchy, the bulgogi with rice was for my adorable 6 month old niece to eat, and the wings were really crunchy and had the perfect amount of sauce covering it! The bulgogi fries were out of this world, potatoes just seem to make something already good, great! The fries were the perfect vehicle for the bulgogi, while the cheese held all the pieces of crispy bulgogi and other toppings together! My cousins' have never heard of corn cheese before so of course I had to order it! The corn cheese went really well with the korean fried chicken and the budae jjigae. The budae jjigae really hit the spot, it had everything from spam to beans, It was really good! The service was super friendly and all our food came out in a timely manner! I can't wait to come back to see what else they have to offer!

Good service. Okay food.

It was just okay. The most glaring issue I had was with the very foul smell when we sat at our table. This should have been a sign. Food was okay. Good fries however, I don’t think I will be back. Mostly because of the smell, it made my imagination start to run wild. Eat here on 10/13/17

Great Korean fusion restaurant

We went to Bul with a group and while the starters were okay the main dishes left us underwhelmed. The noodle sea food dish had more pasta than anything else and tasted like stock tomato sauce. The hot plate had the rice burned. Maybe it is that we worked and lived throughout Asia for 5 years that has left us spoiled, but this was rather underwhelming.

I saw BUL on PBS DC eats. I finally got a chance to try it out this weekend. Good flavors for a nice break if your stuck in the same old routine (French, Italian, "American"). I tried the Makgeolli. Pretty good if you like a slightly caramel/sweet/milky rice wine. At 6%, it's easy to drink. I liked it. Also the special cup was a nice touch. My wife tried the Jinro 24, which means 24% alcohol which might be a bit much for some. 1 little bottle would be like a full bottle of wine. The food was good. Surprisingly even though we ordered some spicy dishes (Dukbokki), they did not have much heat to them. I guess I was under the impression that Korean food was spicier. Overall, it was a good experience with tubular rice cakes, tasty seafood pancakes (with a binder that I couldn't out my finger on) and traditional Bulgogi. Finally, BUL is in the heart of Adams Morgan so it's easy to continue the evening after dinner.

(Translated by Google) Good! Raw pikki is really delicious, chicken sauce than soy sauce! Kimchi stew is delicious and delicious. I was a bit surprised at the tip but still good! (Original) 강추!! 라볶이 진짜 맛있고 치킨은 간장보단 양념! 김치찌개는 맛이특이한데 맛있다. 팁이 쎄서 조금 놀랐지만 여전히 강추!

First time eating Korean food...sold me!!

VB Dude

In town for tourism, my girlfriend was raised on Korean food, this placed did not disappoint, a nice Americanized blend and friendly staff. Short ribs and sake!

YEON

Food was nice. Staff looks angry though

One of my three favorite places to eat in Washington, D.C. It's easy to get a table, their service is amazing, and the food is so so so good. Make sure to get a corn cheese or five when you go and bless yourself with its gooey, sweet deliciousness, and follow it up with an extra spicy whole "K.F.C." for your crew.

Laura Kottlowski

Got foot poisoning from this place...Dined with 3 other people and we all got different dishes....and we all didn't enjoy our meals. Won't be going back.

Great food and service! Love the Soju!

Josh Samuel

Everything I've had from bul is good. If you are truly spicy tolerant go for the hottest but make sure the server knows you can handle it.

Rachel Lachenauer

I have only ever done take out, since I work in the area, so this review is not reflective of ambiance or service. I usually get the 1/2 Korean Fried Chicken and the K-Pork Fried Rice. Both are outstanding. The chicken is some of the best fried chicken I have had, period. It is incredibly juicy and hot. The batter is lighter and crunchier than typical fried chicken. The fried rice has excellent flavor and a pretty decent kick of heat. My coworkers and I are always eager to order and share what we get. These two dishes alone (1/2 Fried Chicken and Fried Rice) are enough to feed 3 people with a bit of left over.

Troy Pham

Delicious! Now I don't have to go to VA anymore.

shruti s

We tried the BUL Korean fried chicken. Never tasted anything so spicy. The waitress was kind enough to warn us about it and gave us the sauce on the side. We also tried the fried wontons which were good. It's a good restaurant but definitely beware of the spice levels as spicy here means some serious amount of chillies!

Eva Km

This place is a lovely Korean place! We had fried mandu, pajeon, pork belly ssam and bulgogi dish and they were all delicious. They were the right kind of spicy and my friend Rachel who had never tasted Korean food before enjoyed it very much, including the spicy chilli paste. Service was great, and the price was average for a city like Washington DC, but it was a little bit of walk from the metro station. The location, however, was perfect on the street with a lot of different other food and bar options.

Bryan Blankenship

Waiter ignored us. Food was overpriced and bland. Would not return. Mandu down the street is 100 times better.

Eric Burke

I had the spicy pork dolsot. Quite tasty. a bit pricey however.

H I

Jacqueline Campbell

Good value for the area. Not many vegan options, but there is a tofu dolsot that is vegan without the raw egg. One or two vegan apps, but the veggie gyoza has an egg wash and is preprepared.

Wendy N

Pretty good selection of Korean street food!

Nabil Sharaf

Great tasting Korean food. Some of it is straight forward and tastes amazing and familiar, and some of it requires you to be a bit adventurous, but it's never disappointing.

Luoyi Chen

The fried chicken is really tasty!!!

Kenneth Swilley

The food was outstanding!the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was onpoint.

David Channin

Great Korean fare. Very flavorful and spicy! Great service. Good vegetarian options. Nice bar.

Brad W

Great food. Recommend going with a group and spitting a bunch of stuff.

Tobias Isaksson

Great food, especially enjoyed the kimchi fried rice and the Korean fries. I do wish the Korean fries were a bit crispier though, but they were still great. My wife also appreciated that there was Korean fried chicken that was not all glazed for once. I would recommend this place to anyone I know.

Alexis Jones

The food and wine was delicious. I definitely plan on coming back my next DC trip.

jamari jay

great atmosphere, great food, and great prices what more could you possible ask for? staff are chill and friendly and will help you promptly and the food was very good. jjamppong is nice and spicy (but not over done) and the portions sizes are great for the price (they give you a TON of rice) and free water atmosphere is nice as well would recommend 12/10

yasmine a.enien

HORRIBLE and extremely unprofessionally service. We wanted to sit outside. The host promised a ten minutes wait. We ended up waiting for ONE HOUR. He refused to add one chair to an available table to accommodate us instead of waiting and gave the table to other walk-in clients. He also didn’t suggest to sit inside and gave tables to other walk-in clients. When I went to ask for a table inside he kept me waiting for ten minutes before he even spoke with me. He never apologized.

Eric Jaw

This place was perfect for exactly what we were looking to do; have some food with great company. A+ on the crispiness of of the seafood pancake!

Diego Chojkier

Meh. The appetizers were a mixed bag: the seafood spring rolls are delicious; octopus was rubbery. My main course, a pricey plate of beef short ribs, was incredibly difficult to eat. The meat itself was OK, but overcooked. Recommend spending your money elsewhere, better places abound, even along the same block.

M Sams

Nouveau Korean. Very tasty. Must try the fried chick

Meg Smith

Solid Korean fare. Veggie dumplings are superb. Bulgogi is average. Fried chicken is oddly chopped into small pieces (though still on the bone) and batter is very pepper heavy — even the naked or sweet soy varieties have a kick to them; spicy variety is tasty. Service is friendly though didn't know much about the menu. Space is deceptively large with plenty of seating.

Jeena Lee

Channa Ringo

Delicious food. Great service. Reasonable prices. A must-go spot to eat!

Macaron

Delicious Korean food! I really recommend this place. Spicy Yaki Udon was really good :))

LOVE THEIR ORIGINAL KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN

Dor Amram

Pretty good - enjoyed some menu items, others were a bit on the bland side for us. But everything felt fresh and well-made. The service is polite and efficient.

Angelina Stephens

Lived in Korea for a bit as an adult and was close with a Korean family growing up (I am not Korean)...so when I look for a Korean restaurant, I don't want the place that caters to Americans, I want authentic. This place was trendy and a great atmosphere, but as soon as I told the waitress that we (my husband and I) knew and really loved Korean and asked what she recommended, she pointed us in the right direction and everything we were served was amazing. The Kimchi dumplings (steamed, not fried) were out of this world. She said the dumplings were handmade by the owners mom and told us we had to try them, and the pork bulgogi and kimchi (we got a few other small sides as well) were great. Highly recommended!

Aubrey Scarborough

Great happy hour specials, and they know exactly what you're going for when you order Cass and a bottle of Soju.

Angshuman Mojumder

Went here with a large group. While their drinks menu is not extensive they do some interesting Korean food items like fried chicken, bibimbap.

David Lynch

Food was excellent, my family loved their food. I went outside of my comfort zone, and I thought it was good. Nice place in a good area of DC. I will go back when I return to the area.

Amanda Requa

Amazing place!

davell501

The food was okay...i don't have to go back.

Mia Ives-Rublee

It was good but not great. I’d say more 3 1/2 stars. Mixed drinks a pretty good.

Jim Brighter

Everything was awesome!

Ashley Zaki

Delicious!

Chris Sybert

Food, drink, service; all fantastic.

Phillip P.

Delicious and fun. Crowded. Service could improve.

Nick Pitts

Stopped in here with a friend the other night to grab a quick beer and some appetizers before a show. Service was great and the food was okay. We ordered the chicken meatballs and the Dukbokki (spicy rice cake, and fish cake). My friend is from Korea and said the meatball was a little off but the Dukbokki was close to what they have from the vendors at home though lacking in its true spiciness.

Rob Hess

Spiciest wings in the city!

Igor at skvltd.media

Excellent Japanese beer selection that you won't find anywhere else! Orion is still a rather rare sight and they have big bottles at the right price. Food is great as well!

Annette Freeman

Our waitress was great and patient with being clear on what we wanted. We had several of the small plate items that was delicious!

Shubho Biswas

Very authentic dokkbuki! Bibimbap is pretty good. Crab puffs come seebed on a pool of spicy sweet chili dipping sauce and was delish. They serve a korean raspberry wine that was like red wine with raspberry flavor

Kevin Kirkpatrick

This place is absolutely amazing! This is a great spot for happy hour or post drink drunkies. The kimchi dumplings are magical.

Jonny Newburgh

Bul is fantastic and a welcome addition to Adams Morgan. It took way too long for me to give this joint a shot. I had the fried chicken, which was truly incredible -- although it took a while to get it to the table, so make sure to order it before you place the rest of your order. Everything else at the table was good too. You can't really go wrong.

Jared Cokley

Neat spot with interesting seasonal drinks. Check out their Soju infused watermelon drinks; it's great for a group!

Brick Lantern

BUL KFC, so spicy but absolutely amazing. One of the best meals I've had in DC and very reasonable.

Zhen Wu

Nothing special there. The dishes served at the most are Korean like, far from being authentic. The service is great, prompt and friendly. It's good for gathering.

Shamus Funk

Good food, very loud.

Sera Kim

My experience was great! I got the spicy Korean chicken tacos, seasoned fries, and a Kloud beer when I ate gere with a friend. The spicy tacos had just enough flavor and the portion size was just right. My favorite part of my meal was the fries though! The fries were perfectly crispy with the perfect amount of batter. I would definitely come back just for the fries. If you have never tried Korean beer, the Kloud beer is a good one to try. It is easy to drink and is a freat addition to the meal. This iw a great place to go to if you are in the Adams Morgan area or are wanting to walk somewhere before going to the zoo.

Larry Hill

Atmosphere was nice. Two window tables, about 10-12 other 4 seat tables and a bar. Food was high quality and fresh. Korean Fried Chicken was crispy and moist on inside. Bulgolgi was flavorful and not sweet. The Korean Short Ribs were tender and moist, but my plate was actually majority bones with no meat. That is the only thing that brought eating down from 4 to 3 stars.

Victor Dymond

Service totally blows. Came hear as a party of 2. There were 3 empty tables but they wouldn't seat us because the tables were only for parties of 4. When we pointed that out they didn't care and told us to wait at the bar for one of the tables for 2 to open up. When we walked out they didn't even care.

Oluseyi Akinyode

Sundubu Jiggae and seafood pancakes are amazing!

Logan McGear

Tina B.

Went there early on a Sunday night, and the place was quiet (just a handful of other patrons) and service was nice & unobtrusive. They didn't have any signage on the outside of the restaurant, which was confusing, but the inside is quite gorgeous. Food was yummy, and definitely not Americanized...if you've never had Korean food, prepare for a unique new flavor experience. Got the Dukbokki (not too spicy) and Seafood Pancake (really crispy delicious dough, but I wasn't a huge fan of the octopus tentacles...my friend loved it though!). Also, do yourself a favor and get the yuzu tea - slightly sweet and fruity/lemony. Delicious.

Mihret Redda

Great food!

dk kim

one of very few places in DC where you can drink PyongYang SOJU from North Korea!!

Chris Crowley

Good Korean food.

jason patel

Awesome place to eat. The food is one off which makes it worth coming out to even if you eat a lot of Korean food.

keisha johnson

Cool looking place, but the flavors are a bit too Americanized

teentopanga269

Really good food here, you will be paying Adam's Morgan prices.

Rory Harper

Amazing friend chicken, loved the kimchi pork belly fries and the mozzarella corn was fun.

Saurabhi Satam

Amazing, perfect spot for a casual dinner. The food is delicious. Also, the quantity is surprisingly good for the cost per item. 5/5⭐

So tasty! Extra credit because this kind of food in DC proper is scarce!

I loved their Korean Fried chicken!!!

My wife and I are suckers for good Korean food so when we found out there was a new Korean restaurant in the heart of Adams Morgan, we had to check it out. We tried to make a reservation, but it turns out we didn't need one on a Thursday night at 8PM. After dining at Bul, we give it a 4-star rating. Here's why: One star: For location. It's in the heart of Adams Morgan, making it convenient if you're already in the area. One star:For atmosphere. The decor inside uses exposed brick and it has a fun lay out with a second floor that over looks the first floor. One star: For their drinks. They make a killer seasonal drink. They take a small watermelon and gut it. They then use the juice to make a watermelon soju with soju and Sprite. It's $19 but can serve two people. It's so good! One star: For their food. It's good. My wife loved her spicy seafood yaki udon noodles and my bulgogi rice had the perfect ratio or meat, rice, and veggies. Here's what prevented us from giving it a fifth star: The service was a little slow and it took awhile for us to get our meals. Also, the food is great, but as a former Mount Pleasant resident, I miss Adams Express, the best Korean food in DC until they closed.

Dongjoo Kim

Amazing and authentic Korean food in a super trendy street

Gabrielle Liverpool

The food and staff were amazing

Keren Bassey

People are right- it has great service and the food is pretty good (and this was yesterdat-Saturday). Im giving it a 3 because they served us food with peanuts and there was no warning of peanuts in anything we ordered (my husband is allergic -they did comp us our app) and while he is sick i also ended up getting sick from my food and i didnt touch the peanut riddled food. Not sure what batch we got, but it wasn't a great experience considering all I heard about the place. You have to have some kind of warnibg label about foods people could be allergic to. Not sure if everything is fried in peanut oil which is why I got sick too or if this was a bad batch. Either way, won't be making a return here.

Henset S.

Pretty much the only game in town for Korean bar food, but they do a great job at it. Their soju mixes are really good.

Ann Morse

Great bar staff, o-dari and small bites, beer sake at good prices. Love the atmosphere!

Eric Sid

Great KFC! Loved the whole chicken with half and half for two sauces. Very tasty and compares well to KFC from LA.

Stacy S

Food was good but not at great as the options further out of DC

Shing Yu

A little pricy but ok Korean food. Not great for large groups.

Albi Satku

Tasty and huge portions!

Andrea Campioni

Nancy Jackson

Very tasty dishes. We are from out of town and found it by accident but glad we did. Seems to be very popular place to eat.

Nicholas Sammons

Not the best Korean food, but definitely pretty good for the price. Quick service. Nice ambiance.

Christopher Cameron

Lawrence Chin

Sub standard Korean fare. Pork belly was thin and fatty, not much else stood out.

David Park

We ordered the K.F.C (Korean Fried Chicken) and the bibbimbap and it was pretty delicious! The fried chicken's marinade is not spicy but offers a tangier taste. The bibbimbap had an assortment of the toppings you would expect but there was more rice than toppings in this spot. Service was good as the waiter kept checking up on us. Not a bad spot for a korean style tapas joint.

DN 13

Good food. It's a bit pricey for those on a budget.

Zina Hutton

Fantastic food at great prices, attentive and kind waitstaff, and a wonderful atmosphere. I'm in DC for a conference and I'm glad I got the chance to eat here!

Food is good and spicy. Plentiful portions. Space is limited and a little tight.

Connor Kinsella

Excellent food for an overall fair price for the area.

Mac Schoen

Cool atmosphere and excellent food at good price for value. Look for the building's facade art and the sign printed on the glass of the door to the side. Otherwise, it's hard to find!

Jessica Li

Great Korean restaurant. Highly recommend seafood pancake, budae jjigae and bibimbap.

Alvaro Smith

Pricy....but it is delicious. If it was cheaper, I would go more often. You can get food to go, they have SOJU, they have Rice Wine, they do not have Korean BBQ. Kimichi Soup was a little sweet than what I have had in Korea. Instagram: @happyhour_dc

I'm gonna complain about the service of this restaurant!! I never had that bad experience like today before. When we first in this restaurant, the server told us the wait time is 30mins, we can seat in the bar, but after 10 mins, there is 3 table available, the chair in the bar is super uncomfortable, so where to put my foot, so I ask the to change the table, at this time we don't have any food on the table, They just saids No, they can't move us to the table. The other thing make me so mad is we order a soup, but there is a hair in the bowl, when I ask service, they ask me" IS THAT YOUR HAIR?" Excuse me?? I'm not a homeless! I'm a customer. They don't even say sorry or any apology to us. That's so rude. If they don't change their service, I will never go there again and I will tell all my friends don't go there anymore. Ridiculous! Horrible! Restaurant! No respect!

Andrea Kaiser

Great service and even better food! I've been on vacation with my mother for two weeks now, and out of ALL the places we've been to and eaten at, this place was definitely the best by far!! Definitely recommend!!

Grant Schneider

Mazen Elkurd

One of my favorite places in DC. Bul has sparked an appreciation within me for Korean food. Set in the bustling strip of Adams Morgan, the service isn't always the most prompt. The food on the other hand is packed with flavor. I recommend the Jjampong if you enjoy seafood, one of my many favorite dishes here!

J C

Ok food with alright service....

Cherie Couture

Food tasted bland. Water was warm. Nobody greeted us at the door. Receipt was in a box. Very disappointed.

marilia rojas

I was looking forward to try this place but left disappointed because the service was not good. They brought the wrong starter by accident but also charged us for it! Also brought the check too early so we had to rush through our much anticipated dinner :( Also, there is much better Korean food out there.

Andy W

Josh Rubin

Used to be as great spot. May still be, but last I went this past weekend and nothing really tasted....good. Server also insisted I was wrong when I told them that the extra rice we ordered was cold and hard. Needless to say, it was. Lol. Recent menu change may be the culprit, however I thought I'd share.

ike iloka

Awesome spot tucked away in admo. The atmosphere here was cozy, but very trendy. Wait staff was friendly, explaining the menu. And the FOOD was life! Try the KFC wings m, they did not disappoint!
