Your new favorite burger joint. Blink and you'll miss it while driving down the highway, but stop in once and you'll see why people are parked all along the street to have lunch here. Plenty of options for any kind of burger you can imagine (avocado + bacon is my favorite) and the service is always excellent.

The Burger Shack is a hidden gem in the Northern Virginia area. By the looks of the photos inside the restaurant, it used to be a little cottage. I've been here plenty of times and it is one of my favorite burger joints in the three years I've been in the National Capital Region. The burgers are great, it has a fountain drink machine for free re-fills, the pricing isn't horrible (comparable to Red Robin but with higher quality), and the loaded tots are to die for. It's a small place so seating may be limited if you're there for lunch (because we all know how busy Chantilly gets at about 11:30 AM). Parking will likely be most people's gripe here as there is about six parking spots. Just park down the road in the shopping center and take the short walk. I feel happy every time I do and I feel happy every time I come back with a full belly. My go-to is the BBQ Bacon Cheddar with Loaded Tots. If you're reading the other reviews where they gripe about parking and prices, try being pro-active and using your noggin' a little bit. If you'll pay $20 for fackin' McDonalds or $7 for a fackin' Starbucks coffee, why won't you pay $15-20 here? If you can't find parking, try the big-a$$ shopping center practically a three minute walk down the same side-road. Then when you eat your 3,000 calories, you can at least say you walked 50 of them off.

Watch for customers who park in front of stop sign on access street as this is illegal. You may have to add additional signs to make it safe. We saw one drive through the stop sign because of blocked sign.

Delicious!! On the rare occasion I go for a burger, I'm so very happy to have found this spot! Large selection of menu items, fast and friendly service. Loved building my bunless burger my way. It was delicious and cooked just as I ordered. The fries and fried pickles were the "icing on the cake." I was lucky enough to have "won" on both, but the only slight downfall is limited seating and parking. Worth waiting for someone to leave =)

Excellent burgers, however you like em. Tastes fresh, made to order. Gluten free bun options too! I even love their Chicken on Fire sandwich if I want something other than a burger. Loaded tots are delish. I hear their hot wings are excellent, but I can’t take the heat! They have takeout, but expect a little bit of a wait; remember, it’s not fast food! They have a few outdoor tables, so if you’re bringing your pooch you can dine alfresco with your furry friend. They have a TV mounted on the wall, so if there’s a sports team on you can watch it while you eat. One last thing I advise: don’t forget a milkshake for dessert!!

I love burgers and I've been to many burger joints, from BK, to Five Guys, to Red Robin and even Shake Shack. But no places compares to The Burger Shack. With only two locations, it was easy to see why the are doing so well. It's a hidden gem off the highway that you wouldn't expect to be so amazing. The burgers were grilled to perfection, moist on the inside and charred on the outside, same with their hot dogs. The tots are the best with their ranch sauce! They have so many funky types of burgers and you can even build your own. It took us 40 mins to get there and it was worth it. Definitely recommend!

Delicious menu of many, many meat and vegetarian burger options, along with sides, shakes, and other American fare. It is housed in a historic building with limited parking, but worth the short walk if you have to park elsewhere.

First off I am gluten-free, not for fun. The only way for me to get a gluten free burger with a gluten free bun was this place for awhile. It's so delicious. I take all of my friends (gluten eaters) to place and they were are whooa man. The burgers are obviously aren't fast food price cheap but you get what you pay for your tastebuds to hit the heavens. A burger with a decent amount of toppings can last you for lunch and dinner. Their milkshakes are tasty, too. The service is fantastic, always felt welcomed.

Very busy inside, fair amount of seating inside and outside. Downside is limited on-site parking. Delicious burgers that are relatively customisable with regular selection of Pepsi fountain drinks. No bad experiences in going multiple times, except that it's easy to overlook. Definitely lives up to the name in that regard.

Delicious burgers and hot dogs. Their loaded tots are amazing as well. Very limited parking in the parking lot though. I recommend parking on the side street and walking over if it's getting packed as sometimes people will park their car behind you making it difficult to get out.

Excellent burger with crispy tots and fries. The build your own burger has lots of choices (including getting chicken or other options instead of beef), and the prices are reasonable. The ability to get a gluten free bun and the separate fryer for the fries and tots is an added bonus. The only real downside is the limited parking and small spaces.

Pretty much everything right with America. Equal parts lovely roadside tavern with absolutely gorgeous scenic terrace, neighborhood burger joint, airport-proximate waiting spot/pre-flight lunch spot. Burgers are very aptly-sized. Not too huge, but not small at all - quite sizable. Parmesan fries? Easily the star of the menu. Huge basket of fries with Parmesan and garlic sauce to feed the soul. Onion rings were excellently done. Equal parts savory and beautiful, this place is honest, well-priced, and delicious. God bless you, you amazing bastards.

This is a legit burger joint with vegan and vegetarian options. The burgers are exactly what you want them to be and the non-meat options satisfied my wife and kids. The whole family was happy and will be back regularly. Good enough to be on triple D. They even make their own tofu dogs.

Good burgers, lots of topping choices. this little burger joint in historic location is tucked away on the side of Route 50 where you never expect it. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and the staff is really nice and helpful. Great place for lunch or to grab a quick burger or hotdog. It's a limited specialty menu of hot dogs Burgers chicken and fries but the food is done very well and there may be a weight during Peak eating hours.

This place is awesome.. We travel a lot and always try to eat somewhere that we haven't tried before or don't have back home.. I got the West Coast burger and let me tell you that name don't serve it justice because I'm from the West Coast and I have never had a yummy burger like that back home... Everyone in my family was very satisfied with their mes.. Service was so awesome.. The young guy that took my order was great and very patient and the cook area was very clean ... We got burgers!!! These were flavorful and juicy. Roll your sleeves up and get a stack of towels ready to go. The brioche bun was ok. Brioche is being done by everyone. I got the Texas toast. Perfectly toasted and it soaked up the juices very well. Been wanting to come here for a while but it's been so busy and crowded I had to do a fly by. The guys are nice they put up with my indecisiveness. Gave the 5 stars for my burger and staff. What more do you need. Gonna come back and try out the rest of the menu.

This is a true story: the burger was so juicy I had to eat it over my tray and away from my body to keep debris off my shirt. And I say that as an absolute compliment. That's the way a burger should be. And not greasy...juicy. We also tried the tots and they were amazing as well. We came with a group of 15. No confusion on the order or frustration from the staff; they were glad we were there and worked hard to accommodate us. We will be back.

Some of the best burgers and fries in the area with reasonable prices considering the portions. Onion rings are worth trying and the slider order is wonderful if you've got a couple small kids to feed. My dad likes the Patty Melt. Very tasty if you're looking to get your juicy burger on! Food comes out fast enough, but on cold or rainy it has limited indoor seating.

Great food! The burgers are so juicy that it almost leapt across my plate. Not raw, just juicy. Fries were crisp, large, & golden brown. Great options for any toppings you might like: grilled onions, pineapple, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and many other things that folks enjoy. We didn't try the shakes while we were there, but saw many people drinking them with smiles on their faces. I love hamburgers and this is definitely one of the better gourmet burger restaurants in the area.

This establishment is nice and cozy. The food was great and friendly staff. The food was fairly quick and easy. I ordered the specialty burgers the "Ring of Fire" a little spicy but still good. My bother and his wife order ordered the "Chicago style hot dog" and the "Santa fe burger". My daughter and son got the "Sliders and custom built burgers". My niece ordered "Chicken tender". I didn't dink them for parking only because they have street parking but the parking lot is very small. This place isn't any bigger in term of dining size but they do have out door sit in. Overall I an excellent experience.

A solid burger that was surprisingly extremely cheap, I honestly would've given it a 3.5 stars if given the option to. This definitely wasn't the best quality meet, but was juicy and tasted good because of the toppings. The burger itself, if you make your own, is 6 or 8 depending upon oz chosen and the fries and drinks are separate which was 3.50 (a little expensive). Would recommend it and comeback nonetheless. The Mac and cheese bites are definitely not worth it, but and the fried pickles were average but filling.

Great Burger restaurant! Lots of choices for how to have your Burger, you can order medium rare, the fries and onion rings are great. Onion rings don't pull apart on the first bite. They also have wings and other fare. There's limited seating and parking. A few tables outside when the weather is nice.

I ordered the Sunrise burger which comes with Texas Toast as a bun along with a fried egg and Thousand Island dressing. The burger was slightly overcooked as it turned out medium rather than the medium rare that I ordered and the egg was definitely overcooked as the yolk was not runny at all unfortunately which to me is the only reason to get an egg on a burger. The burger was seasoned extremely well and was very flavorful and juicy. The counter service was quick and easy and the prices were reasonable. The interior is pretty small and cannot easily accommodate a large group. There is quite a bit of outdoor seating as well. The parking lot is extremely small with only a handful of spots for the whole restaurant. With all of the spots full, I had to park down the street at a small office complex with a State Farm office in it and walk from there which took a couple of minutes at least. There appears to be street parking available though I wasn't going to take the chance since nobody else was parked on the street and I didn't want to risk getting a ticket or a tow.

Lots of options for patties and breads to build your own burger. Great tots too. A surprising number of meatless options. Substitute tzatziki instead of tahini on the falafel burger. That's better than an impossible burger.

Good place to get burgers. Certainly a local dive has not many people go to it nor see it. They have great burgers and french fries. The building is small but fits the ambiance. The customer service is good and a good place to go for a filling lunch or dinner. They also cooked your burgers to order which is something that I always enjoy. Plenty of options for the entire family beyond just your standard burger.

Tucked away on the side of a highway is this little burger shack. Aptly named “The Burger Shack.” The parking is bad but the seating is ample. Maybe it's slow. Maybe people get it to go. But today I am enjoying the ambiance of the area. Relaxing outdoors awaiting my meal. Let's see if the burger shack brings as much to the food as they do to the location. So far I am impressed. The young man that took my order greeted me with a smile as he asked me to wait while he took orders out to customers. I didn't mind the wait as I could see that every employee was diligently working at their position. And while I feel that they may be a person short, they truly make up for it with charm. I don't know if it comes naturally or the young man has been trained well. Either way, it was an enjoyable experience just to wait. The food was well made and presented nicely. You can tell that everyone took care in the preparing the dish. However I wasn't throughout impressed. I was expecting a fantastic taste with varying complexity as advertised in their menu. Their special sauce may be special to them, but not to me. It was quite lackluster. Final thought, the shack got me in the door but the experience will have me return. If I am treated half as well as I was today, every visit will be fantastic. Hopefully they can get a few minutes of time to experiment with recipes as I truly feel that their passion for their business mixed with a bit more time, will produce one of the best burger places on any map. I will return, and when I do, I know I will be pleasantly surprised.

Was in the area for just 24 hours and ate here twice, it was that good. They have gluten free buns that are legitimately tasty instead of poor crumbly substitutes. The burgers are a bit pricey but 100% worth it.

I will keep this short and simple, the only other burger even close to what I had on Saturday when checking out the Burger Shack to give it a try was in Austin Texas in 1984, and Pedunkles to the best of my knowledge is long gone... so, this place is the undisputed champ. The burgers we had there were simply the best I ever recall eating! I was tempted to return for dinner to have another one. Can’t wait to go back this weekend.

Don’t eat here!! Unless you love great burgers! This place has juicy burgers cooked to perfection. They do whatever temperature you ask for beautifully. The place is intimate to say the least but squeeze in there and grab a burger with some tots! Mmmmmmmmm good eating!!

The Burger Shack has become a Monday lunch ritual with my office mates -- the kind of thing that makes us look forward to Monday. They serve other things than burgers, but they have nailed it for making excellent burgers cooked to order on any kind of bun with any kind of topping you want, and their french fries are fantastic.the restaurant is in what looks like a really old cabin that is a reproduction of one that used to exist. The dining area is small, but they have some nice tables outside, including on the porch. Parking is very tight. Really, the burgers are so good that I expect this place to develop a cult following.

This is one of the best burger joints in the area! The buns are so delicious! The patties are delicious and there are plenty of combinations to suit your needs. The fries are so tasty as well...but I always go for the onion rings! Enjoy the amazing service and dine in or take it to go; but like all delicious greasy burgers, you don't want your fries or buns getting soggy. The prices are beyond reasonable and you get a lot of food!

I was looking for a great burger tonight and the pictures along with the reviews convince to try this place tonight. It was fantastic...super juicy and tasty burger cooked exactly as I ordered it. New spot for me to get burgers when I am in town.
