A terrible experience today. I've been going to this SD for many years, enjoyed the experience most of the time thus far, but today was a bad day. Today, I ordered a bottle of beer, which came with a nice frosty, cold mug. I ordered a second one, but this time the mug had drips of milkshake and dried up orange juice residue all over it. I told the manager who took it back. They brought me a different mug, but this time there was a sticky residue, like syrup. They took it back again, but when they returned with the mug, all they did was wipe off the sticky residue and brought me the same mug. I cancelled the beer, obviously. Not going back again after six years of patronage. Shame.

The service was excellent. The food, not so much. The shrimp was extremely soft and slightly more pungent and the pasta sauce had no flavor. What really irked me was how the rest of this was handled. I spent the night and into the morning throwing up and I’m awful stomach pain. Since the symptoms came swiftly, it was undoubtedly food poisoning. I called and spoke with the manager, reiterating that the service was excellent but the food subpar. It ended with the manager seeming to brush it off, telling me he was sorry and he will talk to the kitchen. He then took my information to give to a corporate office, which I never heard back from. No recompense was offered. Just an “oops” attitude. It’s sad because this is my go to spot with friends for breakfast. Not anymore if this is how they handle things. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere

Everything was fine, food was great, but then we witnessed a server drop a syrup cup on the ground right in front of a manager. Another employee immediately picked it up and handed it to an employee who was stacking other clean syrup cups into the bin where they grab them to fill for customers. And he put it with the clean ones! I got up and told the manager what I saw happen right in front of her and she tried to lie to me and tell me that they put it in a different bin for dirty dishes. I was no more than 15 feet from all of this. I know what I saw and I told her so. I sat back at my table and she came over and tried to tell me again that I didn't see what I saw. I again told her I know what I saw and that I know she saw it too and don't lie to me about it. She then asked me what I think she should do to fix it... REALLY?? So I had to be the one to tell a manager that they must wash all the cups in the bin again since there's no way to tell which cup it was!?!? 2 things: 1. If this place will do this kind of thing in the open in front of customers and a manager, what must happen in the back out of view? 2. What kind of manager does this? Tells a customer they didn't see what they saw and basically lies to them? The easy thing to do would be to apologize and have the bin brought back to be washed. This whole experience made me realize this place is super dirty and they absolutely do not care about the customer's experience.

My family walked out after waiting for our food after all other tables who were seated after we placed our orders, received their orders. I dont normally call that out but this was just too obvious. I asked what was taking so long, I was given the eye. Ive been to many SD's this one was just poor service and a somewhat rude experience.

I feel like this place is going downhill a little bit. The food wasn't very good. The service was super horrible. And we were right in front of the cash register where all the wait staff was hanging out. And save yourself some money... Don't put money in the Jukebox because they don't play the music loud enough for you to even be able to hear it.... :-( I hope they step it up pretty soon.

The food was definitely delicious! What bothered me was a cockroach walking on top of our table... The manager came apologized for the inconvenience and gave us a gift certificate which was very generous. Aside from this, the experience was great and we will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Stopped here for a late breakfast and wasn't too impressed, it seemed like they had WAY more staff than needed. One of the waitresses was holding a knife behind her back with the blade pointing out while gossiping about customers with the other workers. Service was super slow (probably because staff was too busy hanging out). The food was decent at best, nothing memorable though. I had asked for a coffee refill but it didn't arrive until we were nearly done with our meals. If you're craving diner food I guess this place is alright, but otherwise nothing memorable. On the plus side, there was plenty of free parking.

We tried it because of the sheer number of rave reviews online ("best diner") but this diner was regrettably just so-so. The prices were rather high for the quality of food so that was a turn off for us locals. Think of this diner as...a vibrant, fun-looking/aesthetically pleasing, family-friendly restaurant for a gathering (say, if family and friends are in town and you need to take them to brunch) and you're essentially paying for that ambiance and not great food. PS: Parking is also great/will not be a problem!

I had Country Scrambler and Coffee. The scramble wasn't cooked right; every vegetables were not cooked and its eggs were soggy, and pancakes were very thin and not tasty. Surprisingly disappointing! I requested cooking my dish right, and they brought newly cooked one which was better. However, the dish was still disappointing... My service person even did not ask whether the second one met with my expectations. It was quite unusual. Her service should be improved with basics. I was the one who tried to be very nice to the service person to get better service. My last visit Silver Diner was about 15 year ago...I remembered I enjoyed its food, but I couldn't enjoy its food and service as much as my good memory of this restaurant.

The food was good. I like the fusion of traditional dinner items and healthy choices. They have a 600 cal menu section for lighter fare too. I had meatloaf and the side veggies it came with were good but particularly salty for my taste. I found the whole dish oddly heavy on the salt really. The staff was unusual. They were extremely outgoing and friendly both with me and particularly with each other. The waiter I had was very familiar with his coworkers as if he had known them for a long time. However he was careless and forgot to bring me my salad. When my main dish arrived I told him he forgot to bring the salad and he finally brought it to me when I was almost done with my main course. He also never really apologized. He also picked up the check and counted the tip while I was still sitting at the table right in front of him. I just got the feeling the manager wasn't around and my waiter was having too much fun with his coworkers. The atmosphere is great. Good effort to get the 50's dinner experience right.

Good food, jukebox music, good conversation ... Silver diner uses locally grown produce so it's fresh as it can be. I've never had a bad meal there. It's like taking a step down memory lane with the jukebox is right at the table. The only difference is instead of putting in a nickel or a dime have to put in a quarter but you can play whatever song you want. Our only problem is that we usually don't have any points with us! However, I'm sure the server probably has coins from tips that they'd happily exchange for paper bill instead of the weight in the pocket of the coins!

Not a diner, they don't even serve hash browns... a traditional American menu item. I know we live in the era of innovation but breakfast shouldn't change, this is an insult to American culture.

This was my second time at a Silver Diner. My first experience was near Richmond and everything was great. We were first sat at a booth against the wall where we found a few ants. I figured it may have been something left on the floor and we moved ourselves to a different table. We then ordered. There were ants at the next booth and the next one after that. Now regretting that we ever ordered, we moved to another table on the other side of the room. When I discreetly mentioned the ants to the server, nothing was done. No one came over to wipe the table, mop the floor, nothing. Sooner after our food came we spotted more ants at our new table across the room. I will never be back to this place again.

My goto place for casual "off-campus" meetings. Friendly staff, good food. Update Apr 5 2019. First time ever lousy service at this Silver Diner. Took forever to get a cup of coffee and then I had to ask someone to find server for a second cup. Getting check took forever, too. I dont make a decision based on one bad experience, but certainly a red flag! Lost a star!

Went twice to this restaurant on a recent vacation to DC. Food was good both times. They claim to use better ingredients and I believe them. On first visit the waiter we had was excellent and I would have given it a 5 star review based on that visit. Second visit the food was great again but the service was terrible. Waitress was more interested in small talk with other wait staff than attending to our table. I give it 4.5 stars.

Not really quite sure what to say to that experience but it definitely wasn't a silver experience or even a bronze for that matter the bacon came off of a piece of wax paper that was so hard and brittle that it shattered and was covered in its own grease that had dried on it in this picture that is pure grease in other words don't order bacon here. The fact that the manager can restrain her face and see nothing wrong with it that's even scarier the is nothing healthy about it and the eggs are not organic Amish fresh lol. More like cbi foods mass produced. Having access to 16 roosting chickens at home I know the difference. But seriously don't serve that petrified bacon to anyone ever again they don't deserve that kind of punishment. And I am not sure who made the formula for the coffee but it was hot and nothing more but rather fairly watered down.

The silver Diner was certainly a hidden experience with lots to offer. With the appearance of a 50s Diner and the modern cuisine it certainly blew all expectations away. Between an incredibly versatile vegetarian/vegan menu to compliment traditional offers, the selection is not over burdened and every item looked gorgeous. With my chicken pot pie and her gorgeous waffle stack it certainly got our day going the right way.

One of my favorites. I can't say anything negative other than it gets packed and the line gets long. Don't go there if you're starving and it's a know busy time. If anything, check beforehand and plan your visit accordingly. I love the power breakfast, health shake, and build-your-own-burger with beyond meat, but there are so many other options I enjoy as well.
