Would never revisit. Our waiter was terrible. Rude. Our lobster burger had a tiny peice of fried lobster on a dry burger with very limp sweet potatoes fried. We were excited to go there but highly disappointed.

If you are at VA Beach and want a great tasting burger, definitely try Repeal! They have several burger options, but I went with the classic burger and sweet potato fries. It has outdoor seating as well in case you want to soak in the sun.

Host was rude. I ordered an old fashioned that never came. I had the Californiacation burger that had one slice of an avocado and hardly any sauce. I should have just ordered a plain burger. We came here because it had great reviews but not coming back.

Great burgers, great staff, awesome place only the locals know about. Really awesome bar that was kind of wasted upon me since I am not a huge liquor fan, but if you like whiskey or bourbon the bartenders know their stuff and have a great drink selection. However if you don't like liquor like me, they still have some tasty beer and cider options.

The Burgers we unique, juicy and without a doubt a highlight of my VB experience. It was about a 30 minute wait but it was well worth it. I had the Italian burger with mozarella and basil and every bite was a scrumptious. As I write this I want to go back.

Not just a burger. Nicely paired flavors. Some familiar and some unique combinations. The appetizers we tried were twists on what you know. The poutine was exceptionally tasty and different. The bourbon cocktail menu was nice as well.

The peanut butter and jelly burger was the best burger I ever had in my life. I loved the truffle mac and cheese too. The place's vibe is classy speakeasy. I feel like I should be wearing a flapper dress with giant pearls holding a cigar while in this place. Great for dates when you want to impress your partner.

Went there with a group. Service was completely overwhelmed. Glasses couldn't be filled up, was hard to place an order. Finally got everything in and it came out in a reasonable amount of time. Food was cold and over cooked. Honestly have had a better burger at Wendy's across the street. Mac and cheese everyone raves about was good but I'm sure it is better atleast warm. Went to pay the bill and gratuity was 22%, pretty high but for a group of 10 not terrible. wouldn't ever come back or be able to recommend it to anyone

Cool place for sure. Awesome selection of drinks, and the food looks good. But the service was terrible. Bar area seats opened up so we sat down just to be told there was a wait list. Moved towards the bar just to see walk in guests take the same seats and not be told to move. Then following our first drinks had to wait a looooong time just for the bill for the bartender to not even know what we had. Had to fetch the original waitress that never bothered to even check with us. We could’ve walked out easily without paying so many times... lack or attention, lack of caring... that’s what gets you $0.01 tip... that was me!

I recently saw a list naming this place the best burger joint in the state of Virginia and I would have to say they do have excellent burgers and a fantastic selection of whiskey. Be warned there is limited seating and the food is definitely made to order so it's fresh and can therefore take some time to get to your table. You won't be disappointed after the wait as the food is fantastic and your not likely to find anything close to the burger concoctions they have anywhere else. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is due the location, which is in the middle of the tourist-trappiest part of Virginia Beach, where parking is limited, expensive, and if that doesn't suck enough, all the pedestrians do. I will only go here during off-season. If you think that deduction of 1 star is unfair I would argue they could move away from the ocean front and get a larger space with better parking and cheaper rent but they chose the ocean front for the endless stream of people.

Small small place but we enjoyed delicious burgers and salad! Our grandson was happy he could get chips and warm cheese to dip them in. My Long Island ice tea was great! Food came out pretty quickly Staff was great! Good place to eat...in walking distance of Holiday Inn Oceanside. VA Beach.

The atmosphere here is great. Occasionally it gets smokey from the kitchen, but staff is quick to rectify. Burger and parmesan seasoned fries were good. Wasn't a fan of the garlic aioli, but I think it's mayo based, which I am not a fan of.

Small, dark, and one might say intimate place with an atmosphere focused on the prohibition era. It specializes in Bourbon and burgers (hence the name). The food is good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, so you have an option depending on the weather. The signage out front is very subtle (dare I say Speak Easy), so I've posted a picture of the very innocuous entrance.

Repeal has the best selection of bourbons I’ve ever seen and has a great selection of casual food to match. The atmosphere is perfect. I fell in love with this place. If you like bourbon and you’re visiting Virginia Beach, this needs to be on your itinerary.

This was a pretty cool spot. Has a speakeasy during prohibition kind of feel. Staff was friendly. Had the burger with the with the fried egg...was sooo good! My friend had the black bean burger and said it was good as well. Has several vegetarian/vegan options beyond burger can be substituted and they do have several salad options. If you are a scotch, bourbon, whiskey drinker they have an extensive drink menu. They do have an outside patio option. I think they may have cigars. Sorry ladies, no dessert menu.

This place was seriously impressive. We loved their beer cheese and very interesting pretzel bread it was served with. It had a great crispy outside. Their burgers were both very moist and great flavors. The bacon dusted fries were a great crisp fry with a unique flavor that we liked and great sweet potato fries also! I made my own old fashion from their descriptions and loved it and the other drinks were good too! We will absolutely go again, take family, and recommend them 100%!

Visited this place while on a mini vacation to Virginia Beach. It is a smaller place so some people had to wait a few minutes, but so worth it! Outdoor seating with a slight water view. Burgers were awesome and quick service. Highly recommend! (Also the parmesan fries are sooo good!)

This is it, guys. This is the place to have a burger. I have never in my LIFE experience a burger joint like this that has made Evey aspect of the meal feel thought out and cared for. The buns are sublime, the meat is juicy and sooo flavorful, their cheeses feel refined and the fries are not an over sight. And the atmosphere is just fantastic. When you walk in there it's like you're inside of a Burbon barrel. The wood worked tables and the lighting are give it a very relaxed and mature vibe. I felt immediately taken out of the streets of Virginia Beach once I stepped and. And Boy, am I glad I did. Still I remember vividly looking at my phone and saying "hey, it has burger in the name so it must be good." And leaving in a state of straight elation because it wasn't just a good burger, it was a divine burger. Repeal, you guys are literally my death row meal. Thank you guys so much.

Wow. This place was recommended by a friend of a friend. Wasn't too sure about it at 1st. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was well above my expectations. I ordered a steak sandwich (forgot the actual name of the sandwich but I know it was a bit spicy) and it was really made with a nice thick cut of sirloin steak, about 6 or 7 oz. Very surprising but I would recommend chopping it up to pieces, makes it easier to eat. Go check out this place. You won't regret it.

Good ideas poorly executed. The deets: Liked the idea for the flavor combinations but the actual burger included very little of the promised ingredients. Also a burger is not hard to cook rare. If you ask for rare and it is not rare it's no longer a burger. It's a disappointment. Waiter didnt pay any attention. So never got a chance to tell him.

My husband loves burgers and bourbon. You can get any kind of old-fashioned you can think up. I don't eat red meat and generally drink just red wine but fortunately they have both Turkey and vegan / vegetarian options. Friendly wait staff and excellent food.

Burgers and whiskey sums it up. They have a huge (over 50) different whiskeys you can try and a good selection of other drinks as well. They also have a "make your own drink" where you pick from about 8 whiskeys, different bitters, and garnishes. As for food the burgers are really good and they have a good variety of burgers. The best part is the Mac and cheese. Seriously, it is truffle Mac and cheese and it is loaded with cheese and has a good truffle taste. All around good food and drinks. My only small complaint is the place is small so we had to eat outside and we got bombarded with flies. Not their fault, but I would try to eat inside if you can.

Absolutely fantastic. Not a disparaging word to be said. I actually ended up here because I walked into the taco place around the corner and after five minutes of being seated never saw a server (even though the place wasnt rhat busy). It was a true blessing I left. Because this place is amazing. Had a salad, appetizer and burger. All amazing!! Do yourself a favor and come here... and dont forget the Star Hill Love on tap.

Fire and Brimstone! Great quality burgers cooked to perfection! A very unique blend of ingredients to make an assortment of different burgers to fit any customers needs. Repeal is my favorite place to bring out of town guests and family members, because the service and food is overwhelmingly the best choice point blank period. 5 out of 5 stars easily. P.s. they have the best mac'n cheese I've ever had in my life!

The interior is rustic and fit a bourbon style eatery. The burgers that we tried were the Probation and the Californication. Both burgers were delicious and well crafted. The service was a bit slow considering it wasn't crowded and that we were there just before 5:00. The place had a bit of a fly problem but this may not be a regular issue and wouldn't be a reason for not visiting. Street parking only. I recommend the place as a great place for a date to grab a burger and a drink.

With a HUGE selection of both high end Bourbons and the usuals, this gastropub is definitely worth a walk down the boardwalk. The burgers are equally as good as the design your own old-fashioneds. So many choices of bitters!! Friendly bartenders had great recommendations.

We have been here twice while staying at the beach. Top Notch burgers & fast service. It's a bit small inside, but if the weather is nice, you can opt to sit outside. I personally recommend the Prohibition Burger!

First time here. Place was recommended by a friend. We only waited about 10-15 minutes for a table outside. Servers were attentive and the place is a casual setting for adults. Serving size was filling. Medium cooked burgers were a decent size, the buns were just right and the fries with truffle were delicious. The truffle mushroom appetizer was tasty also.

Shroooms burger with Bourbon sauce!!! Truffle mac and cheese was quite tasty. Requested well done, received rare to medium. Chef happily prepared another. Servers didn't come around often. Had to ask for check, but they provided a discount for the order flub...nice touch.

This place has a cozy quaint funky vibe and is just off a main drag and very close to many hotels.Good thing, because this place pours a strong drink so walking is recommended! If you are a fan of Old Fashions you will want to live here! Best I have had in over 30 years!! The bartender was a true mixologist and the joint offers many brands of bourbon-some very rare. Went here on a cold Wednesday in February, and not one open table. I'd be afraid to see how busy this place is in the summer. If you get in here and can sit down, Do It!Selection of burger toppings is excellent. Two different vegetarian burger options, as well as turkey burger. As for the sides, I decided to go with the mac/cheese. It was awesome, and I'd highly recommend it. I went with beer, but they have an extensive bourbon and whiskey selection.Service is excellent, and they are committed to be environmentally friendly.

The burgers were great here. The PB&J was savory and sweet and cooked well, the Shrooms burger was nice, with good sweet onion flavor and nice Swiss oomph. The truffle parm fries were crispy and well seasoned. It's a smaller place, so seating is limited. A big negative for me was the 90s emo/whatever turned up to 11. If you're into Good Charlotte or Taking Back Sunday or that stuff and want a good burger, this is your spot.

We started with the Bourbon & Beer Cheese appetizer, which came with grilled pieces of pretzel bread and had a serious kick. I didn't realize the dip was so spicy (even though it does have a spice symbol on the menu, the ingredient list didn't seem to indicated spicy to me), but it was still really delicious. For my burger, my friend kept the spice train rolling and got the Fire & Brimstone, which seems to be a favorite here according to Yelp. He demolished it. I got the PB&J Burger, which was FANTASTIC.

Love coming here for a burger and old fashioned! This is the only place I will go when in Virginia Beach that is not a seafood place. The burgers, fries and old fashioned's are always ridiculously delicious. I tried to order an old fashioned made with Bullet rye and celery shrub bitters garnished with an orange slice.

Really good, but really small and really busy, so they get packed and understaffed. We waited for a while, then were told they weren't seating anyone else for a while. If you don't mind waiting, the drinks and burgers are excellent

Bartender is an amateur. I sat for a good four minutes with not a word and obvious non verbal avoidance faces. The bar is a ten seater with five people there and the bartender couldn't handle it. The service bar was tiny and not slammed. Finally, he had a bar back and still couldn't handle it. Hostess aspirations is all the managment can hope for to remedy the dishwater type service this guy provided.

I'm hoping today was an off day today. The air conditioning was off and there were countless amounts of flies my wife and I had to swat away from our food and bodies. Floors were dirty and they have a community cup of forks I guess? Kinda strange. Food was good though and came out fast. I reccomend the mac and cheese as a side dish. Cool the place down and get rid of some flies and I'll return.

We swung threw here for lunch on a Thursday and while there werent a ton of tables inside (six inside and a couple outside) we found one just fine. We had the Classic, the Shhhrooms, and the Where's the Beef? and they were all excellent. Get the mac and cheese as a side, you won't regret it. Seemed to be a more family crowd earlier in the day, but I can't say if that's the same for the evening. Service was great, very attentive. We will definitely be back next year!

The burgers here are phenomenal. I got the prohibition which comes with an over easy egg and bacon. Also, the fries are to die for. You can get them plain or with one of their toppings. I got the bacon brown sugar and it was AMAZING. You can sit inside or outside. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because there were so many flies in the restaurant were were bombarded while trying to eat. I would highly recommend the food and the service was great as well!

Good vibes only! Was told by a local to try this place, said they had the best burgers. And they did. Huge variety of delicious burgers. I had the shhhrooms burger and boy was it tasty. My only regret is that I'm not a fan of bourbon, but if you are, you need to try this place. They had probably the biggest selection of bourbon and whiskey that I've ever seen, and the bartenders know how to make the best concoctions. They have beer and cider options as well, if you're like me and not a bourbon fan. Next time you're craving a good burger and fries, try Repeal!

Of the burger joints in Virginia Beach I have been to, this is definitely the best. Large variety of specialty burgers that my friends and I were all happy with. They also have some pretty solid drinks. This is a small hole in the wall establishment though, so it gets pretty packed.

This is THE happening place in Va Beach! Best burgers and cocktails in the area! Hands down!! I've been to SEVERAL restaurants/bars in my life and I've NEVER seen such a finely organized location. Bartenders and waitresses were hustling then entire time! Didn't get the bartender's name but he deserves 5 stars alone! Do yourself a favor and go to this place!! 5 stars would be an understatement! I went in and was a total pain about my allergies and dietary preferences, but the bar manager totally worked it out and was able to accommodate me even though they were slammed. Repeal is a smallish bar with a great selection of bourbons, cocktails, beers, and a great burger, probably the best in VA Beach. Heat atmosphere for meeting friends, having business drinks or eats, or just having a date night with the significant other. Cozy, dark, very masculine atmosphere, but an exceptional list of bourbons, whiskeys, beers, and everything to go with.

I visited here on a Thursday afternoon and we were seated immediately. There is a very good selection of unique burgers, cooked to request, and a very large amount of spirits. It's a small place with a comfortable atmosphere. The burgers came out quick, and they were delicious. I can't wait to come back! Best food we have had at the beach this week! Side of mac n cheese was AWESOME! and sweet potato fries were dusted with brown sugar(SURPRISE!!) but very good! I ordered the Classic burger,(it comes w/ cheese,)I requested no cheese but bacon instead,was charged $1 extra for the bacon,Hubby ordered the Shroom burger,we both ordered them "well done" they were quite charred.We will return and ask for "no pink" instead and see if they're not so burnt.Dark interior,booths along one wall,bar seating inside,some outside seating.2 servers.Did notice a few flies and fruit flies also.Price was $11 for classic burger w/ 1 side and $ 12 for shroom burger w/ 1 side. Limited beer menu,but Hubby found a local fave on tap. Update:We returned today and ordered the same with the exception of a side of chili instead of the mac n cheese.Requested the burgers to be "not pink" ,the manager said"Well done' to which I replied "i don't want it burnt.' Different cook,burger was thoroughly cooked but not burnt;sweet potato fries did not have the cinnamon/sugar sprinkled on them today,again a different cook,different results. I asked the manager about the lack of sweet seasoning and he said "Some cooks put them on,some don't."He offered to get me a small dish of the seasoning for my fries. They need to do things consistently and/or ask the customers if they would like the sweet seasonings sprinkled on their fries,not 1 time they do and 1 time they don't. Hope they stick around and on our next visit to VB we plan to stop in for a great burger!

The problem was the hostess, not friendly, didn’t tell us that we could eat at the bar. We realize this when we saw many people go in and not come out to wait. There were even sits outside and after waiting for 45 minutes. I asked the waiter if we can sit out front and eat he said yes. So then I asked why can’t we sit there he said we could. Keep in mind the hostess heard this conversation. So we sat ourselves and then waited another 20 minutes and then left without any service. Keep mind it’s hot out. We were lucky to get water. Will not go back there. Hostess obviously hated her job and didn’t care about anyone else.

Hands down the best burgers in Virginia Beach. They also had something called Poutine which I had never heard of before and now I am very angry I went 30 years+ in this life without ever having tasted that divine substance. Definitely a place to check out if you're ever on the strip. Very small intimate place. I dont believe they have more than 10 tables inside & maybe 4-6 out on the front patio. I think their specialty is whisky wait no Bourbon lol its in their title. I stay away from dark liquor but I noticed they have a killer menu of Bourbon drink options that looked fantastic! I cant vouch for that tho.

Great cocktails! Cool atmosphere! Its a small place, sometimes hard to get a seat. Honestly, the burgers are good...but not the best ever. With a little hunting there are other great spots without the wait. I will be back for more cocktails!

Great little place we stumbled upon. The burgers were delicious and the truffle butter parmesan fries were delicious... That's right, I said it, Truffle Butter Parmesan Fries were so good. Also had the parmesan mac-n-cheese which was pretty good and I am not a big mac-n-cheese fan. I didn't have any alcohol but they had an elaborate whiskey menu. Will be back to try something different.

The food and the service were both great. No kids menu but my 7 and 5 year old both enjoyed the classic burger and Mac and cheese. The mushroom burger was excellent and cooked just as it was ordered. Would definitely reccomend.

So good. Obviously known for their burgers but I had the lettuce wraps and the flavor was out of this world! The bourbon selection is also on point. Not one to miss and so much better than a lot of other touristy spots

I'm here now and so far I don't like it. Was ignored when I sat down. Had to wait about 5 minutes for acknowledgement. Will still give it a try, but these burgers better be Awesome!! ***Update: the food was pretty good so I'm not going to hold the way I was treated against them. Oh, this place has flies near the bar. It didn't bother me once I started eating since I never saw them near the cooking area, but if you have a weak stomach be prepared.

This place was awesome! Their cocktails were all fantastic. I'm a big beer geek so I could appreciate their rare spirits as much as someone who was passionate about them. But their food was fantastic. The mac and cheese was to die for. We got the poutine, my wife had a Kim chi burger, and I had the lobster burger. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting.

Best food on the block..The menu is limited to burgers and salads and appetizers and the beers are better around the block, BUT, the food is amazing for a pub. The bourbon selections and specialty drinks are great. We had the pouteen and specialty burgers and sides that were definitely not the usual...bourbon chili and truffle Mac and cheese. The wait was worth it...there is a line for a reason.

The whole experience was terrible. Mac and cheese was aweful my boyfriend ordered Jack Daniels on the rocks was not the correct Jack. Good luck finding a place to park.
