You must have seen that it has an average rating is practically the best one, and it is founded on a very high number of reviews, so we can conclude that the assessment is quite reliable. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to put tatings when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is classified in the category of New American restaurant.
Not really fusion, they offer a range of really artistic and well put together tapas plates of both Korean and Cajun flavors. There's also entree and sharing sized meals if you wish. The mixed drink menu is varied, fresh and complex. Try the Cashmere!
When you look at Mokomandy from the outside, nothing particularly stands out. It's in a strip mall, and appears fairly unassuming and modest. In reality, this Korean-Cajun fusion establishment is anything but. Koren/Cajun might sound intimidating to many who lack the adventurous food gene, but it shouldn't.. There are plenty of things I can't or won't eat, but they offer a wide variety of options that have us coming back for more. Prices are pretty reasonable, and if you go for the first time, make sure you talk to your server about how much you should actually order, or you'll likely find yourself taking quite a bit home. During our last visit, we ordered several small-medium plates, and everything, from the pot roast sliders, to the Korean Fried Chicken and Bulgogi Beef, was absolutely outstanding. Outside of the food, the service was very good, and they do a very nice job of recognizing birthdays, anniversaries, and other events. Lastly, while their cocktails are very good, if you enjoy wine, ask to see the bottle list. They usually have some interesting wines at reasonable prices. Oh, and be sure to make a reservation, especially on weekends. This place was completely full when we were there - on a Tuesday! In case you couldn't tell, we had a great dinner and can't wait to go back.
Have always had a great meal here. Has a bit of a mom and pop feel while still being modern and fresh. They have a wide variety of plates of varying sizes, with modern takes on either cajun or Korean styles (they do point out that it is not a fusion restaurant but rather one that reflects each of the owner's culinary backgrounds). Excellent cocktails and service. Not a big place so it does get busy; I would recommend reservations.
This place is absolutely amazing. From the drinks to the food & amazing staff!
Excellent food presented well attentive staff without hovering. This would be a great place for couples as the food is very sharable.
service is, the best? yeah it's the best. food is AMAZING. OH JEEZ.
Visited this restaurant with my cousins, because it was my late cousin's favorite restaurant. It lived up to billing. You should order several items and share them. Everything was very good.
Always wonderful, innovative food and great service. My wife and I are accomplished cooks and this is one of the few places that we will frequent where we can eat food that we couldn't have made better ourselves. Truly a treat.
Great food. This place is always packed during the weekend.
Wow! The food here is amazing. My wife and I are suckers for these types of flavors. They cooked everything perfectly! Our service was great too. Sky was very knowledgeable and helpful in our dish choices. We will definitely be back and bringing friends. Foie Gras Dumplings, Jambalaya, Korean Pot Roast Sliders, Bulgogi, Wild Boar Bowl and finished off with Beignets with chocolate, caramel and raspberry sauces.
AMAZING. Really. Service was professional and knowledgeable.
Creative and flavorful food for a strip mall restaurant. They have a nice theme inside with a nice bar. It was a little drafty inside though as the door is too close to the seating. The service at our table was pretty bad; the waitress had too many tables making revisits rare, and the kitchen was very slow. I'll give it another shot because the food was so good.
Excellent food
This is truly a gem of a restaurant! To start from the top, make sure you call ahead or use OpenTable (e.g. via Google Reservations) to book a table. They were very busy even outside of prime dinner rush hours. As we arrived, we did have to wait a little bit longer before we were seated, and a little longer still for menus/drinks/etc, but given the next few points, that was more than forgiven by the end of the night. Our waiter was Nicholas, and he was an absolute delight throughout the evening! He was charismatic and incredibly helpful through navigating the menu. We deferred our order partly to him and we were not disappointed! All the food was fantastic, but the octopus (Nick's suggestion) was notably fantastic! It completely blew me away!
I've had this place on my Google maps places I want to try and finally got to try it. It's a cross between Korean a d Cajun but not quite either kind if a mash up of both cuisines with it's own twist. Started off with their bloody mary which they had their own mix and used Tito's vodka. I asked for spicy so the bartender added extra spice, and he was great enough to check if it was spicy enough and I asked for a bit more spicy and he accommodated me. Ordered the Korean cucumbers, bulgogi and jambalaya. All we're excellent. I really loved the Jambalaya, a bit rich but super tasty, the cracklin on top was just the perfect garnish! Excellent food and service, make sure you visit?
Eaten here every few months. Food is consistently Great! Tapas dishes are wonderful to share and try something new like Bone Marrow (pictured). Other photos of kale chips, hush puppies and venison tacos. We also got deviled eggs, bison dumplings and oysters but they were gone before I could snap any pics!
Went there for brunch and tried their corned beef hash. Didn't like it at all. But the shrimp cake benedict was really good; will highly recommend that if anyone is going to for brunch, but dont get the corned beef hash, it was an utter waste of my money.
Service is solid. I like the sharing concepts as well as the drinks and desserts. This is a concept where you are there to relax and enjoy the whole experience.
Mokomandy makes up for its strip mall location with its sharp contemporary decor and non-traditional menu. Everything we had was tasty. The only downsides were the small volume on the cocktail (too much ice), and the fried catfish strips were too salty for my taste (and health). Mokomandy is very recommended for the variety of the menu.
Delicious. Kinda had me pushing outside my culinary comfort zone, but I am so glad I did.
Korean-Cajun fusion fare. They serve 'small plates' (or large if you insist) which are hors d'oeuvre like, sufficient for 2-4 people. Order 4 or 5 selections from the menu and they will bring them plate by plate so that food is coming the whole time you are there. We have been here twice now in a party of four. The food has been consistently very good and always hot. Good selection of wine & beer. Very recommended! MO modern KO Korean, Mandy is the head chef/owner.
It's ok
What a gem! Don't let the strip mall fool you. My friends and I came for dinner and ordered an array of items all of which were delicious. The jambalaya was probably my favorite. The wild boar was extremely tender, definitely worth trying. The meat in the potroast sliders was also extremely tender and flavorful. Best advice - get the bison dumplings and then order a side of jalapeno hush puppies to dip in the dumpling sauce. SO GOOD!
Mokomandy is fantastic. Despite the odd exterior, it's actually quite fancy inside. On the Cajun menu, my favorite is the Jumbalaya. It's so flavorful comes with delicious purple rice. I would also recommend the putine and the spicy carrots. The service is even more amazing than the food!! Definitely come here if you have the option!
An exciting and inviting menu food was awesome
Delicious food and drinks. Great customer service
A superior dining experience to be had with innovative takes on old faves along with some new ones thrown in to keep things fresh; from the culinary to inbibing, all topped off with the superlative service that has you contemplating your next visit while you're still caught in the throes of your current visit. With that said, I can't wait to go back there!
Good flavors, well executed. Kimchee nicely spiced. Cocktails well done. A little heavy on salt profile.
Everything was delicious! Friendly service, delightful setting and amazing choices.
Love the bone marrow and beef briskets. Great drinks too. Especially burbon. Very reasonable prices for quality food. Good atmosphere.
Incredible menu. There's no better place to meet friends for dinner and drinks. Don't be surprised by the bill; it adds up quick but worth every cent. Must go.
I love Asian food and was looking forward to trying this place. I was surprised at how small the servings were (Don't get the duck skewers unless you want to pay $10 for a few pieces of duck). I ordered three dishes and they all had the same overwhelming flavors. By the third dish I felt like I was eating the same thing over and over again and couldn't distinguish between the dish. Several hours after dining here, I felt really nauseous and sick. I had diarrhea and then vomited 2-3 times. I saw the food I ate come right out. I called the restaurant after this incident and informed the Chef. He was cooperative and took down details and told me he'd call me back the following day but never did. Maybe I ordered a bad combination of dishes or something, but I normally enjoy this kind of food. They had good food presentation and nice interior but I personally will not be coming back because of 1) getting sick from this restaurant potentially 2) serving sizes not being worth the money 3) same overwhelming flavors in the food.
Make a reservation, amazing food and fun drinks
Interesting fusion of Korean and Cajun. Very much enjoyed it.
Oh. My. GOODNESS. Perfect French pressed coffee, small plates and big plates alike are PACKED with flavor and individuality. The wild boar bowl, and foire gras dumplings are absolutely amazing!! Reserve a table at least a few hours in advance if you plan to eat there that day, (it's a small space of about 10 tables). Don't let the outward strip mall setting fool you, there is a five star experience waiting for you!
Went for dinner with my family to celebrate my 70th birthday..Food and drinks were fantastic. I highly recommend.
Don't forget to make reservations this place
Nice atmosphere, drinks were ok
The only thing that sucks is how full this place gets. However the food is delicious and I wanted my friend to try it but did not get an opportunity to try it out. Then I had brunch with my boyfriend and the server seemed a little haughty but the food was great. Had French press coffee and it was so good!!
Excellent food and service. Some unexpected choices in both food and drink and we enjoyed it all!
Korean and Cajun combined into the same plate makes for some interesting spice. It's well executed, but the unique concept comes with a high price tag, and a long wait....for everything. Upselling is also a bit out of hand, but overall it's still a pleasant experience and a culinary adventure all at once.
When visiting family, considered Korean food a treat. But after traveling 300 miles, was told they no longer do takeout. Hostess was rather rude and made up a story about why. That is, a female customer would take advantage of takeout and order a bunch right before kitchen closes. I was there pre-dinner rush on a Saturday when they were a quarter full. I don't patronize establishments that are rude and lie to the customer. Fwiw, I'm a middle-aged reasonably/well-dressed, polite person and a generous tipper.
Very creative fusion of Korean and Cajun cuisines.
This restaurant has food that is original and delicious. The culinary skill evident in their dishes is very sophisticated, refined and unique. The prices are also very reasonable and the staff very friendly.
Best food and service. We will continue to come here. Save room for desert! :)
Interesting dishes that were a treat to the palate. It's a good idea to call for a reservation. It's not a huge place and it fills up quickly. Great service and delicious flavors in every bite. Loved the Chicken Paillard.
Friendly, attentive staff. Nice ambiance. Food is high quality. I had spicy kimchi (basic cabbage, no frills) which was very good; Korean pork ribs which were meaty, but could use a more Korean-tasting sauce; and an OK jambalaya. I would visit again to try other dishes.
Korean and Cajun, creative and fresh, one of my favorite restaurants, have eaten there at least 30 times.
One of the more interesting places to eat food wise. The food is good and always keeps you on your toes. The staff is helpful with the menu and knowledgeable about what they have. Eat here if you're feeling adventurous and don't mind spending a little more on food than standard.
This establishment is truly a hidden gem in Sterling, VA. Nice decor, comfortable seating, and the food is nothing short of amazing. A friend and I ordered 3 sides, 3 small plates, along with 1 medium plate and were extremely happy with every single dish. The food was hot and full of flavor. Very nice combination of familiar Korean and Cajun dishes and some of the best pork belly i have ever had. The gumbo, bulgogi, and bison dumplings were fantastic as well. Don't forget to pick some sides as they are a perfect addition to an already intriguing menu. The restaurant is busy and lively. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They seemed a little short staffed on our visit, but the customer service was impeccable and everyone we encountered was very friendly. I will most certainly be returning and recommending Mokomandy to friends. Awesome dining experience.
Awesome little spot. Deserves more recognition.
Cajun and Korean. You haven't had this before. Definitely worth s trip. But get reservations
Delicious good, great staff, and craft cocktails.
Great food, cocktails, and service to boot! Mokomandy is one of my favorite restaurants in the area.
Mokomandy came highly recommended and boy did they not disappoint. A curated menu with a decent amount of options each of which tastes amazing. Pricing is decent but a shared plates experience is definitely worthwhile and can certainly add up. Fantastic cocktail & dessert menu to boot. Secure your spot on OpenTable or expect a wait or possibly no open seats as the restaurant / bar does not seat many. You will enjoy your experience there and the flavor of the food is second to none. Kind of a "diamond in the rough" considering its location in a strip mall.
I didn’t like the Cracklins too much but the Bulgogi Bibimpap was good
Excellent small plates and the carnivore plate is good for 3!
Great great GREAT food and service. Very creative dishes (small and medium plates to share). My favorite restaurant outside the Beltway.
Both the Cajun and Korean food was excellent. I was bummed that there was no crossover between the cuisines. I think there could be come really interesting inspiration by combining the two styles. As it stands, it just feels like a restaurant that happens to do two different cuisines pretty well. That's not bad necessarily, but it doesn't make much sense and it certainly isn't as interesting as I was hoping for. The cultural crossover was eating Korean food with a fork ;-) Expectations of crazy fusion cuisine aside, the food and cocktails are really fantastic. They do some clever takes on classic cocktails, which I appreciated. The gin cocktail with rosemary was tops.
Incredible food. Top notch service!!!
Type of style is amazing the drinks are the best
Great Korean Cajun fusion small plates. We have been there several times and are never disappointed.
The food is super good! The wait staff is superb, and the cocktails are are delicious!
Great food. Diverse with large variety. A "Don't miss".
What’s Korean about grits, deviled eggs, sausage and egg sandwich, taters?
I went there today, Sat, around 3pm. The restaurant was virtually empty with only one couple dining there. A gentleman came up to me and I said just one please. He told me he could not seat me until the girl on the phone told him where to seat me. The place was EMPTY. I said I'd sit anywhere since all the tables are empty, how about the bar? Again I had to wait. Another couple arrived and we waited....the girl was still on the phone. I said in a loud voice... well, I guess you don't want to seat me so I am leaving... I walked out and ate at another restaurant.
It was an excellent evening! The drinks were superb, food was fabulous and the staff knowledgeable, pleasant and very helpful. Will definitely be back!
Nice small fusion restaurant around IAD. A little taste of Korean mixed food in a cozy restaurant. Service is great.
Different, contemporary, and delicious! Mokomandy has a really interesting menu! They feature a blend of new American and Korean fusion recipes that are different and really tasty. They definitely are trying to impress in the flavor department with their food. Most of the dishes are small plates, so order several dishes to share among friends and family. Prices on plates are moderate to slightly pricey, but it's certainly worth a try. They have a very friendly staff, but the restaurant is fairly small, so it can fill up fast at busy times! Definitely would come here again.
Absolutely phenomenal. Have been several times. I've brought friends and now they have all gone several times as well. The whole menu is fantastic, whether it's brunch (just get the honey ginger mimosa, you can thank me later) or dinner (also, get dessert, don't be a wuss). The wait staff is also amazing. They are top notch at providing suggestions. It's always a great experience here. Its a small-ish place, so I recommend a reservation, but it's usually not necessary. Oh and I forgot about the drinks. They have a lot of unique mixed drinks that are well worth a try, which of course supplement the classics they serve as well.
I had high hopes for this restaurant. We attempted to dine here once prior and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation. When we finally dined my expectations were high. We had the pork belly and octopus skewers, kimchi, bulgogi, mussels, and beignets. I felt the food and service was mediocre. I was expecting there to be crossover between the cajun and korean cuisines.
Cajun-delicious. Korean-delicious. Cajun/Korean=outstanding! They execute both cuisines extremely well, without venturing into the oft muddled waters of "fusion". On top of a solid variety of food is a top notch cocktail list, as well as decent beer and wine selections. This is a fantastic place to have in your neighborhood and I wish it was in mine!
Siganture cocktails were above par and their taps style entrees did not disappoint. Our favorites were the octopus and pork belly skewers and the foi grais dumplings. It was quiet and slow when we went so we didn't have to wait long for food.
Cool, cozy place to challenge your pallet. Good idea to call for reservations, but there's usually walk-in seating at the bar. The menu is mostly small plates perfect for sharing between 2-3 people. The menu ranges from southern style comfort food to spicy, complex Korean dishes. The staff is very attentive and is happy to explain the dishes and help you choose based on your preferences. The drinks deserve a special note for being as visually beautiful as they are refreshing.
Tiny portion and okay flavor.
Still one of the best brunches in sterling. It's hard for me to say this because I dont want everyone to know how good this place really is.
Can I give more than five stars?!?!?! Absolutely everything was perfection.
Amazing first experience! The food is unique and delicious. The service, Zach was our server, was knowledgeable and offered several recommendations.
Good place for dates. You can't go wrong with anything in the menu.
Some of the most unique tasting foods I've ever had, in the best way possible! Great place to get a bunch of small plates and share with friends!
Interesting and enticing selection on both the cocktail and food menu. As stated by our waitress, it's Korean and Cajun, but NOT fusion. The small plate style allows the opportunity to try many dishes, but this is a somewhat pricy option. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great Sunday brunch, tasty food, extremely personable and friendly bartender, but a little pricey, even for Nova.
Amazing food! Must try!
We went here on a recommendation of a friend and the reviews were great. We made the mistake of letting the waitress choose some dishes for us. Just about everything she bought out was too salty or it had way too much lemon/citrus flavor. Usually Korean food has amazing seasoning/flavors. The only seasoning we could taste was salt. To be fair, the fried chicken was good. The desserts were underwhelming. They brought out beignets and instead of providing dipping sauces, they smeared four different sauces on the rim of the plate. That was one of the worst ideas I have ever heard of. We gave the feedback to the waitress and she did nothing about. Maybe you'll have a better experience then us, but we will not be back. The wine here is terrible and over priced. You're better off going to Cooper's Hawk in Ashburn.
Jess is awesome and makes the best cocktails. Food is the literal definition of amazing. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Make a reservation and enjoy a wonderful evening.
Tried to leave my name at the host for a table that night, even with a wait. Host refused to take name even though there were openings on open table an hour later. Extremely disappointing.
Fantastic small plates Korean and Cajun (but not fusion!) the cracklins were still crackling when they came to our table. Be careful not to over order as even the small plates were generous. Our server (Laura)was knowledgeable attentive and friendly. A new favorite!
This place is the real deal! Fascinating concept that really works; Cajun/Korean fusion sounds crazy, but it's delicious. Highly recommended, try the fried chicken (and everything else).
My family and I had the great pleasure of dining here with the owners and the food was incredible! There is a wide menu selection with favorites from both Korea and Louisiana cuisine. The Cajun selections were my favorite! You also have the option of choosing "tapas", which basically is a small sample plate (versus a full order), which makes it a great way for a small group to sample everything on the menu. Be sure to book a reservation in advance because this place does fill up fast.
Best place hands down.
Food was good! So was service! Only it was very loud. Had a hard time having a conversation with people I was with.
Mokomandi does a wide variety of sm, med, lg dishes. An eclectic creative mix of Korean, Cajun, and anything food We three had chicken nuggets - - definitely not what you get through the car window-- veal tacos, brisket, steak, 3 desserts. Everything a creation, no standard dishes. $80 for 3 of us.
When I first arrived at mokomandy I did not know what to expect. the venue of this establishment does not match the venue of the shopping center it is in. very classy and clean, has the feel of something you would find In the district, jules at the bar is very accommodating, friendly, and easy on the eyes. highly reccomend if you are looking for high class in the sterling area.
Great food. Wide variety of things to order and great drink selection
Great Food and cocktails. We always enjoy the quality and flavors of their food. Also, they have a bartender with real mixology skills, a double plus! Courteous and professional crew.
Overall excellent experience. My wife and I sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome. We enjoyed some great food and drinks. This place has some interesting stuff on their menu that you will be hard pressed to find at most other restaurants.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. It's like Korean/Cajun tapas! If your in the area you have to pop in. You won't regret it.
Unreal. Amazing food.
Amazing restaurant. Delicious food. One of the best restaurants in NOVA.
No Table I tried differents days and I meed reservations.
Great food, excellent service
Lot of reviews already mention how good this place is for dinner. We've tried several dinners and always loved their cocktails and food. Saturday and Sundays they have brunch from 11 - 2:30 and we tried once and were completely surprised at the taste of brunch items even though the selection is quite small. We tried a small dish made of corn bread with creamy sweet milk. It tasted delicious and unique. The French bread and was also so different and very very delicious. Had a fruity spread very lightly done without being too fruity or soggy. Also, the Biscuit and Gravy with poached eggs topping was worth the weekend trip. Had unlimited Mimosa for just $12. Also, their fire roasted Bloody Mary is the best you'll ever have. Will be going to this wonderful restaurant more and more for brunches.
Tiny portions for what they charge. I left feeling hungry and paid $16 not including tip. I had 4 different servers and all but one was too busy gossiping with one another to pay attention to customers. I've never left a review before but felt I needed to for this place because of the overwhelming positive reviews that must be fake or biased considering the service and food I received. Also, it was not busy but I spent 30 minutes waiting from the time I finished eating until my check got to my table (it was only me and I had to flag someone down) pretty disappointed :\
Fantastic foood! It was my first time there and would definitely return. We had a mix of small plates, including mussels and bison dumplings. I wasn't sure going that the mix of Asian and Louisiana would work, but it did. Staff was friendly and service was excellent!
Hunter is probably one of the best bartender's I've had in recent memory. Made amazing recommendations and made our experience one of the best we've had in months. Definitely coming back again.
Great unique place with awesome flavors!
Awesome experience... Pros: Great servers Good selection Bone marrow Char fish sSam Korean chicken leg Jambalaya House made noodles Mixed alcohol - amazing Cons: Chicken sSam - cold chicken and bland Spicy mussels- cold & no flavor I would recommend this place again and would love to try other new things... overall good experience and different food.
Excellent food, presentation, service. Very nice wine list. I'm a CA transplant and felt like I was eating at a CA restaurant...fresh ingredients, imaginative blend of cuisines in an informal, unpretentious way. Couldn't imagine how Korean and Cajun cuisines, could be successfully fused, but they have! Great leverage of fab flavors, ingredients to offer savory dishes. One of the BEST jambalayas ever. Scallops on sweet potato rounds with a roast pepper and pea puree were super.
Pork belly and baby octopus is outstanding!!! Drinks are great. Everything is made from scratch and there can be a bit of a wait but it is totally worth it. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Very small venue.
Fun place. Food is delicious and service is great.
One of the best tapas style food combinations I have tried. Every time I go I always spend about $100 per person but it’s worth it in good company.
This is one of our favorite go-to places to eat when we want something special. The food is always amazing, they have excellent cocktails and well thought out selection of craft beer and wine. Service is always friendly and top notch. For the quality of the food and dining experience, the value is outstanding. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Loudoun County.
Great bartender named Mike! Good mix of Korean and Cajun foods..super flavors!
If you think you've had it, guess again! This restaurant has great creativity and amazing flavor. Not to mention the staff is not only helpful, but so knowledgeable and friendly that you feel like a long time friend. I moved from California and have found my favorite eating spot already. No matter what taste palate you may have, mokomandy has something that will make your knees weak and arms spaghetti. If the staff reads this: Thank you for your knowledge and friendliness, I'll do my best to get you some Pliney the Elder.
Unreal. Your taste buds will thank you and so will your Uber driver. Much closer than going into dc and same if not better quality service and food !
Amazing staff and great food
Veteran staff uplift the experience at this sterling destination. Go for the cocktails!
Neck and neck with ambar. Excellent service. I let the chef pick my selections. The pork belly and squid is best $10 you can spend in NoVA. The house noodles vate bulgulgi may be the single best Asian dish I've ever had. Can't recommend enough. Food brought a tear to my eye it was so good
I find it awkward that they cannot be bothered to time the meals so all the people at the table get fed at the same time. Sometimes your dining mates have FINISHED their desserts, and you still await your entree. this definitely ruins the experience. I understand the kitchen is small, and they pretend like it is for freshness, but I'd rater have them make the effort to time plate delivery better.
Food was great. Very different but entertaining on its own. Small dishes so easy to try many different tastes. We sat at the bar and that made for more entertainment. The drinks are creative and fun to see them getting made.
Interesting restaurant Korean and Cajun cuisine.
Nice, reasonably priced casual dining. Nice mix of food choices.
I ate here one time based on the positive reviews. You really do need a reservation if you are eating anytime after 5pm. Service is good, but tables are close together. My family hasn't been back since. It's not that the food is terrible. It's not (but it doesn't blow my mind either). The concept is good, but I can't justify paying that amount of money for food portion that is like tapas.
The corned beef hash and brunch stuff was generally excellent
The best! My wife and I LOVE going here when we want a "mom and pop, non-commercialized" delicious meal. The meals are in small, medium and large dish size and all the dishes are unique in taste. In fact, I tell my friends from my first experience at Mokomandy that it felt like my taste buds were exploding with every dish I sampled. At Mokomandy you will order 4 to 6 dishes for two people as the dishes are not the traditional size, but again, each dish has it's own original flavor. The taste is sort of like a fusion of Asian and Cajun styled blended together, which somehow, they manage to blend the flavors perfectly!
Fantastic food. Jake, our server, was funny, very helpful and, per my niece, good looking. Wish we had one in my hometown.
Kicking myself for not having been there sooner. Really great, diverse menu - everything we tried was very good. Tasty, interesting, filling. Attentive staff. Most consistently excellent place I've yet been too in Sterling.
Amazing. Wonderful. Delicious. Everything was perfectly crafted to get maximum joy from me. Who knew Creole and Korean could mix on a pallet so beautifully. Highly recommended!!
One of the best places I've ever eaten!
Very interesting fusion place. I ordered a Wild Bear Bowl. It was delicious. Every component had a unique taste and texture to it. My palates could feel the difference. Drinks- Keeping off alcohol for sometime. So, ordered the house ice tea. You can tell a lot about a place by how they treat their tea and this was one of the best iced tea I have ever had. Definitely not made from powder. Doesn't leave an aftertaste or roughness in your mouth. I am coming back with family next time to try more.
Grilled baby octopus and pork belly is amazingly good. Ambiance and wait staff are additional reasons to try Mokomandy.
Great food, but it is so popular we weren't able to get seated the last 2 times we went. Have a back up plan if you don't like to wait.
Always a pleasure! Food was super good. So much flavor. Korean and Cajun. Also they are willing to cater to food allergies/diets. Have quite a few things that can be made vegan!
Mokomandy is a life changing experience. A little pricey but the food is worth it. All the negative reviews here are about seating or service but we've never had a problem. Popular places fill up, it happens. Get the bison dumplings and ask for a bit of rice to soak up the remainder, worth it.
Really unique and delicious food in an upscale location within a strip mall. They serve up a mix of Cajun and Korean foods but not fusion just some from each cuisine. They have iconic dishes of both like shrimp and grits or Korean Ssam and soup. But they have some others which are absolutely a must try. The octopus and pork belly skewers are to die for. They are absolutely the best I've had anywhere in the world. Everything was well cooked although be prepared for it to take 1 or 2 hours to finish a meal for a large party (we had 7) due to the tapas presentation and the intricate cooking. The Korean Karnivore Ssam was also fantastic with the short ribs cooked to perfection. The fish of the day which was a flounder was cooked just right and the sauce and vegetable sides paired really well. Finally the creme brulee was amazing with nice ginger notes but not overwhelmingly sweet. Servers were friendly and quick although slightly understaffed for the large dining area. They did the best they could with such a large party and the staff was fantastic. We also had a small problem with one dish which was quickly corrected and the overall service recovery was great. Highly recommend checking this place out. Definitely one of the best and most unique eateries in the area.
Nice food and service
It was amazing! Food, drinks, desserts, service. all amazing! Definitely recommend the Korean Fried Chicken, Foie gras dumplings, and house made noodles. Can't wait to go back and try more things.
Unique menu. Lots of great beer. Cocktails you have not tried. Worth a visit for sure. Cajun-korean fusion meets tapas
Great service and great food! Have Phil (the bartender) make you one of his specialty concoctions! love the variety you can experience!!
Absolutely fantastic. Cajun and Korean. Not fusion. They have items from both types of foods. Our waiter was amazingly knowledgeable about the menu in all facets. Dinner won't be cheap here.
Modern Korean and Cajun mixed into a delicious 3 course meal with options of beer and cocktails that would satisfy even the most discriminating pallet.
It makes me so sad to only give the two stars. They use to be my favorite restaurant and I had nothing negative to say about them. Until tonight. This time we took our two year old twins and as soon as our waitress approached the table she had an attitude about them. The service was slow the rest of our visit. The food was not up to the usual standard. We have not been there in about a year so I don’t know what has changed. Our fave, the wild boar bowl, wasn’t even anything to rave about. We are actually moving out of the area in 6 weeks and after tonight I will not miss Mokomandy.
Gourmet food in a strip mall?! Oh, yes. Gourmet food, in a strip mall. I beg of you, let not Mokomandy's distance from D.C. civilization nor its location, nestled in a Sterling strip mall, fool you. Mokomandy serves some the best - whatever genre this stuff is - you'll find anywhere. I believe they call it "fusion," an inadequate word given how their dishes' flavors seem not to forget, from whence they came. My girlfriend and I have been twice. While she argues the Jumbalaya superior to the Cajun Cassoulete, I see a difference only in terms of quantity - the Jumbalaya offers a bit more food. We did the Baby Octopus & Pork Belly Skewers both times. More recently, an honest mistake on the waitress' part resulted, methinks, in the kitchen rushing them, which gave them an unwanted charred flavor. I devoured them, thinking them delicious anyway, and thus taking away the waitress' ability to take any sort of complaint seriously. We know they'll be perfect next time. We've shared both the Wild Boar Bowl & Local Duck Egg as well as the Shrimp and Grits, though I can't remember which time we ate which. Once again, it matters not. These exotic (at least to my palette) delicacies were cooked perfectly, spiced just so they enhanced the foods' flavors. A non-drinker, I've promised myself something besides the house-made lemonade which this time, I got to watch the bartender make. I never in a million years thought that much effort could go into a non-alcoholic beverage...until I tasted it, of course. The service is amazing, even when you bug your waitress with with food issues - ours being an unwillingness to eat anything made with alcohol. Ya just gotta try this place.
Sat at the bar and got the benefit of advice from the regulars. They have lots of small/medium sized plates to choose from. I had the Korean fried chicken, kimchi pancake, kale, and rare bit...the hardest part was choosing something it all looked delicious.
I'm born and raised in New Orleans and this place is legit. Love the gumbo and cracklins. A little pricey or I'd go more often.
Amazing, creative food at reasonable prices and served with amazing service. My favorite restaurant in the DMV area.
Amazing food in a beautiful, little spot. Went there for brunch. My group ordered kale chips, kimchi pancakes, the biscuits and gravy, jambalaya, cheesy grits... It was all superbly delicious!
Good food, busy restaurant, and good environment
Very unique drinks and great Asian fusion dishes. There was a blog post recently saying it was the best Korean food in Virginia. While it's not traditionally Korean, it is very good.
This is quite literally the best restaurant in Loudoun County. Every dish I've ever ordered has been prepared with meticulous detail to quality, flavor combination, and presentation. Both the food and drink menus contain unique items - I enjoy trying new ones but cannot resist ordering the wild boar every time. Last night, I included pot roast sliders and shrimp and grits - and both now included on my list of favorites. I have zero regrets for becoming filled but would like to one day leave room for one of the amazing-sounding desserts.
Everything from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere is 5 stars. Whoever created the menu is a culinary genius. My favorite dish is either the house noodles or the wild boar bowl. So much flavor. Definitely my favorite restaurant in the area and possibly of all time.
Great food and nice atmosphere
Good food, but small space and pricey for portions
Despite it's location in a strip mall, this place is a little gem. The shared plates are so tasty, and the specialty drinks are well done, too. The atmosphere is a little trendy, maybe, but the food hits the nail on the head. Bulgogi and jambalaya were my two fave picks. Too hard to pick which is better and they are small enough that you can get both (and more) if you're sharing. If I were alone, I'd do the Bulgogi all to myself.
Outstanding food in an odd location - let me just say I was blown away by the food here! Located in a super suburban shopping strip with no character, this place will surprise you with the creativity of the dishes and super interesting flavors. Excellent cocktails and great service. Only negative is that it's chilly because of the large windows, however the staff went out of their way to keep us warm by placing small space heaters right next to the table. Super nice gesture.
Incredible food, fantastic drinks, and the staff is always wonderful!
My favorite restaurant in the Sterling/Ashburn area by far. Innovative, well priced and delicious. Can't give it 5 stars because of the inconsistencies. Two of the four times we have gone service has been unreasonably slow. And several dishes have not been up to par (although they are the minority). Veal Tacos, jalapeño hush puppies, Wild Board bowl, and the Ssam are some of the favorites. The Rock Shrimp was the most disappointing dish (tiny, poorly cooked shrimp with very little flavor).
Some of the best food I've ever had. Really didn't want to share a review because of how good this place is. I want to make sure I can always get a seat here. The brunch was top notch. The eggs benedict was the best I've ever had. Give this place a try, but be ready to want to come back.
