Delicious bites with great wine pairing. Each dish is explained thoroughly and presented beautifully too you. Service is above par and they never allow your water glass to be empty. After dinner head over to barmini for a tasty cocktail.

Had an amazing dinner at this 2-Michelin star restaurant. It is very expensive, but no doubt worth the cost for the incredible experience. If you want a fine-dining experience in Washington, DC, this is an absolute must.

Angelique Garcia

Such an awesome experience! By far one of the best restaurants in D.C... The only thing is I wouldn’t gave gotten the wine pairing if I had known what I’d be served. Only one red, fairly sweet whites for my palate, and the pours were more of a tasting than a pairing. The food and service were impeccable though. Thank you Minibar chefs and José Andrés!

The price is unquestionably prohibitive for a lit of people, but if you can afford it without worrying too much, the experience is well worth it. Everything was beautiful and delicious and the staff is delightful, when they have a moment to chat in between all the delicate little courses. The wine pairing is arguably less worth the cost, so we share one wine pairing (all amazing vintages) and one non- alcoholic 'virtue' pairing which was arguably more interesting. If I go back it will not be for some time, but I do not regret the experience.

The food was amazing, but the service and the experience really make it worthwhile. Additionally, they are extremely considerate for allergy needs and will tailor their dishes accordingly.

A memorable culinary experience second to none! The food is whimsical and full of flavor and the pairings were almost perfect. If you like Michelin star dining, highly recommended.

absolutely fantastic, some of the best food in dc, and definitely creative, yet balanced with traditional dishes. from the cotton-candy "magic" mojito to the table-side (unbelievable) guacamole, atlantico runs the gamut from the traditional dishes well-done to creative and innovative takes.

This place is Ok I guessssss

A whole different world of food. It's hard to say whether or not it was worth the money as I graciously had my meal paid for, but it places you basically on the frontier of what is possible with food. Admittedly, in the 20 odd course tasting menu there were some duds, but the courses that worked were earth shatteringly flavorful and changed my perception of what food can be. I would recommend getting the wine pairing even if you don't drink, the wines are incredible and if you don't drink they serve you non alcoholic mock tails made from fresh juices that were a flavor experience unto itself, the pairings are by far the most clever aspect of an incredibly clever meal.

Fun but expensive. I keep thinking I could've replaced a washing machine with the price I paid for a ticket that included the tax, tip, drinks, and the meal. Other than that it was a wonderful and fun meal. It is like dinner is the show, it is like being in an interactive art piece. I managed to get an early seating at 5:45 but I did not sit at the bar until after 6. That was fine as I was offered a drink and sat in the waiting room, where they provided a pre-meal snack. I was seated with a party that was celebrating a birthday. The bar when full has room for 12 people then there is that one table so the room is quiet enough to talk to your seatmates. The myriad of dishes are all artistic, in the presentation and the combination of flavors. There is a heavy use of nitrogen in the creation of a lot of dishes and non-alcoholic drinks. It is all very interesting. At the end, I was moved over to the barmini side for dessert. There I was able to marvel at the creativity and showy-ness of that side. I only gave 4 stars because I wish I could give 4.5. I might still be in shock due to the price and I had a far better experience at another 2 Michelin starred DC restaurant.

An adventure unlike any in DC. The best seasonal ingredients taken to a new level and classics deconstructed. My husband wasn't full by the end of the meal, but I was.

minibar offers the full value tasting experience and well deserves its Michelin rating. Dishes run the gambit from familiar to obscure, but all are delicious. Arrive expecting to try something new, something reimagined, and something familiar. The service is the best I've experienced at any restaurant worldwide. An experience of a lifetime.

I could make this an incredibly long and spoiler-filled review. But I will just say that I highly recommend this experience at minibar. I don't know if this would have been the same without Karl Kuhn. He's extremely knowledgeable about the courses and drinks, and super attentive throughout the dinner. I came here for my birthday and Karl went above and beyond to make us feel special! Thank you!

Stumbled into this restaurant almost on accident due to the amazing smells emanating from inside with my mother and two girls. Environment was very high end and the cost of the dishes was surprisingly affordable...

Came here for my 30th Birthday. If you don't enjoy food and you don't like to try extraordinary deliciousness this is not the place to be. The food experience was superb! It was just that- an experience, I felt like I was in an alternate universe. The portions are small but when you have 25+ bites to eat you leave pretty darn satisfied. If I had money to eat like that weekly, I would. But also it's a special experience for a special occasion and save it just for that! José Andrés is a genius and I will be checking out his other spots! I have been to barmini and the drinks are also good, dessert as well but the door service there isn't always friendly.

Manuel Klein

Before I went to Mini Bar, I actually delivered many types of fresh produce from my father's local farm. I was very skeptical when invited to a dinner by the head chef, but my father insisted. I was greeted by a warm, flower scented towel; a great relief after walking many blocks from a difficult parking spot to find in DC. We were formally sat down and a few minutes later started the dinner. But here's the thing, It really wasn't a dinner,it was more of an experience. An experience of an incredible amount of detail and flavors. From food trickery and an edible muscle shell, to a frozen chocolate puck being served to you by hand, it wasn't at all a meal. Although I did not feel full at all after partaking in all of the many, many portions, I did feel that I tried some of the most interesting food I have had in a long time. The one thing I could suggest is a main dish that I could actually take a few bites out of. The menu constantly changes and this is a good thing. For around $200 you are paying for an experience like no other that you would find in DC.

Most Michelin star restaurants excel at presentation and taste of the dishes. I assumed that minibar would be no exception. The meal started with an amazing presentation and impeccable service, and the flavor was exemplary. Throughout the rest of the evening, the service and presentation continued at a top tier level, however the food fell flat quickly. The Caviar/caviar/caviar was expertly presented, however the flavor was bland and uninspired. Also, this is the first time I have ever left a tasting still hungry by the end of the night. Credit to the Jose's pairing, the wines were well suited to the dishes, however the dishes were a low water mark, I have had better food at Jaleo.

It was a fun and exciting dining experience. However, to be honest, every course was too processed, too gelatinous, too liquified and too much of a departure from fresh food than I had hoped. The food was overly complicated for the sake of being complicated. Unlike other multi-course gastronomic extravaganzas like those served at the French Laundry (which focuses on amazing ingredients and organic textures), Minibar takes the food out of the art. They leave you with something that looks amazing, is extraordinarily unique, but quite frankly is not real food. Lastly, I barely had to chew the entire evening... Almost, everything was served in a gelatinous, pureed or frozen liquid form. With every course I hoped for something to actually bite into. I had high hopes for Minibar, but Ieft feeling as though the experience was not about eating delicious food and more about being wowed by how ingredients could be technically processed into something else.

Minibar was a great experience. We reserved Jose's table which is a semi-private table which seats 4 and includes elevated drink pairings. The experience starts when you arrive and are seated for a cocktail in barmini. Once led into the room for seating at Jose's table you are brought drinks and the first course. The night we went we had 26 courses with 8 different wine pairings. I enjoyed all the courses and wine choices as well. What I noticed was each course had very specific ingredients which you could taste separately from each other and at different times while chewing. The flavors are not all muddled together. After dinner we moved over to Barmini for drinks to finish out the evening. We arrived at 7:10pm and left at 1:30am, so almost 6.5 hours in total. it's expensive but worth it for the unique food and experience.

Exceptional! I am not even sure there are words that will let me explain this experience. It truly is a once in a lifetime must do. The food was out of this world and the service (although maybe a little too much) was also exceptional. Yes it is pricey, but for that once in a lifetime treat it is definitely worth it. The surprises and delights just kept coming!!!

I feel another reviewer here said it best: "The food was overly complicated for the sake of being complicated... Minibar takes the food out of the art." While Minibar was in terms of experience, atmosphere, presentation, service, and such on par with other molecular gastronomy establishments I've enjoyed greatly - simply said, I did not find the food very delicious. Expect to lay out $1,200 for two with drinks. Single glasses of wine run $40.

It was an experience I will never forget. Amazing. Very difficult reservation to get, but worth it. Six lucky souls seat at the bar and experience the essence of taste and modern molecular gastronomy. It is the science and passion of cooking as food and taste burst in your palette. It is something everyone should experience once in their lives and I will remember it forever. Not your grandmother's cooking.

It’s was a fantastic and very expensive experience. I think it’s the kind of place where you want to go once, try the crazy textures and enjoy the culinary chemistry class. In my opinion you don’t need to go and try it every season, the fun part is the textures and molecular cuisine.

Nick Veldman

Definitely very interesting drinks. Had the valentine's Day flight of 6 drinks and it was fun. We also ordered a few nibbles like the grilled cheese, beet tartar and the crisp. The crisp was a big let down but the grilled cheese and the beet tartar were pretty good. It's a must experience if you love cocktails and chemistry! A totally fun experience.

#nausea #insulting if you ate here and said you enjoyed it, you're pretentious and lying. You will be nauseous when you leave and immediately try to find another place to get a meal. You will spend 2 hours and $400 for 7 bites of foamy, runny, gelatinous phlegm. I implore you to go somewhere else.

Not just dining, but performance art! Our table chef, Alex (you'll know him by his amazing menu sleeve tattoo) was a maestro in the kitchen. Conducting a handful of sous chefs in what could only be called a symphony of culinary timing. To say everything tasted, looked, and was presented perfectly would be to do Jose's staff a disservice. This meal went beyond exceptional. We ordered the Celebration pairing, a nightlong endless experience of bubbly, custom paired to each of the 26ish courses with absolute attention to detail by the most lovely sommelier, Melissa. She not only paired the perfect champagne and sparkling wine for each course, she also took great care to describe perfectly how it would pair, what region the bubbly came from, and how it was made. She had a deep knowledge of food and wine, and it paid off. This was a perfect night. If you're on the fence about spending the money, don't be. It is well worth it.

Bradley Coleman

I love every single Jose Andres restaurant I've been to except this one. The culinary tricks are cool at first, but then they do the same ones over and over again, and ultimately they're just that, tricks. No wonder why Washingtonian magazine says this: "Many dishes in the lineup these days are more about brow-raising wizardry than deliciousness—get ready for a lot of gelatinous textures—and the whole production feels more rushed than it has in years past." Washingtonian in 2015 ranked Minibar #2 in DC, which is why we went there, but after my experience, I wasn't surprised to see it ranked #22 in 2016. If it cost $100 bucks, I'd feel a lot differently about it, but at $400, I'm not a happy camper. Go to Komi instead.

Nick Vargish

A culinary tour de force, exquisite technique and brilliant creativity combine with ambiance and service to produce one of the most rewarding meals I've ever experienced. Some of the dishes are so surprising and delightful that I laughed out loud. The staff was welcoming, warm, and informative; their passion and attention to detail was inspiring.

One of the great food experiences in DC. We took a friend who's an executive chef at a fine restaurant and he was similarly blown away. Olives which melted in your mouth. An out of this world experience with some of the most whimsical and delicious food. Service was very attentive and watching the chefs create art in front of your eyes was magical. WOW!!!!! Minibar is truly an amazing dining experience. I was so impressed with the service, the décor, the drinks and wine pairing and the delectable plates. My boyfriend surprised me with a reservation here to celebrate my birthday and my acceptance into graduate school. It's definitely an experience that you want to reserve for a super special occasion (unless you are loaded) since one could easily spend $500 per person after a wine pairing and tips. My boyfriend had made this reservation about one month in advance, which seems to be the norm. However the couple that sat next to us got lucky and was able to make a reservation about 2 days before. When you first arrive you are seated in a cozy common area where you will be treated with champagne. When everybody in your seating time has arrived you will be escorted to the table. From the moment you are seated, expect to be surprised and impressed with the highest level of service and most exquisite cuisines. From there you will embark on this culinary journey. There were so many plates and all of them were amazingly pleasant to the taste buds. My favorites the fish-shaped biscuit made of seaweed and caviar, the sashimi garnished with salmon roe, the kimchee mussel shells, cotton candy cake, the gummy caterpillars, the bourbon peanuts, the krispy kreme donuts. I won't go into detail because the plates just have to be experienced. Every dish and wine pairing is explained and if you have further questions every body behind your behind will be able to answer any of them. All of them are culinary geniuses. I know that going to minibar may seem quite pricey, but if you have an appreciation for the culinary arts then I would highly recommend it!

How is it possible that this place has only 2 Michelin stars? You pay for the experience of eating creative and delicious food. Sure someone said the food was over processed, but it was to bring out the flavors of the ingredients.
