As of day the business gets a rating of 4.2 over 5 and that score was based on 412 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings that it reaches is quite good, and it's based on a very high number of opinions, so we can be quite sure that the valuation is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are happy with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to set tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is classified in the category of American restaurant.
Great food and value, doesnt try to stuff you to the gills
The food was okay. Dinner way better than brunch.
The service was generic and so was the food.
The food takes an interesting twist on southern delights and the drinks are creative. The staff was friendly, but the parking is kind of hit or miss
Your typical neighborhood joint. It checks all the boxes. TVs in the bar area Decent wine/beer list Outdoor seating Staff was friendly Food was just average, the dining area looks a bit more upscale than the food can compensate for but ya cant go wrong. Wouldn't bring an out of towner here but if i need a happy hour fix or a nightcap i would pop in.
cozy, quick Bite, small draft selection but good, nice place to pre game.. family friendly..
The food was okay. The menu online was wrong and the two items I was most excited about were not there. Our server barely checked in on us and was just underwhelming. The food was decent. We got the lamb meatballs and they were tasty but they were luke warm. I really do prefer hot food. I got the marrow burger which was fine. I asked the server how the chef thinks it should be best prepared and she just said however you like. Bone marrow loses its flavor if it is cooked too high so they really should be recommending a temp. My friend tried the rockfish and she enjoyed it. I would go back because everywhere has off nights but it wasn't busy by any means so I don't feel like these mistakes are that excusable.
Brunch menu is way better than regular menu, good service by manager and hosts.
The bar staff, food and happy hour are all great. This is my go to place after work and highly recommend for any occasion.
I order a burger the french fries were fried with oil that has been reuse . It was really bad .
Came here for happy hour. The staff was very friendly and atmosphere was chill. It was nice to come early when it wasnt too busy. I got the Reuben egg rolls and tacos. The fried chicken tacos were bomb and the fish and chili cheese ones were very good. For drinks I ordered a gin and tonic and and old fashioned. The old fashioned was great! I would def come here again if I was in the area.
Distasteful Dining Experience. My friend and I ate dinner at MS Saturday 7-13-19. We both ordered the fried chicken with brussel sprouts and mac.n cheese. The fried chicken was awful! The worst fried chicken ever! Burnt and tasteless. The brussel sprouts were hard as a rock and also brunt to the crispy state. Mac n cheese was ok. Popeyes chicken far surpassed this tasteless burnt wonder. I heard the owners are in process of opening another restaurant on King St. in Old Town Alex. If this is any indication of the manner and presentation of food they plan on offering, wont last long in Old Town.
Food is good.
Worst help ever. I'd give 0 stars if I could.
Great food and drinks. Rachel is an amazing mixologist and a great human being. I would definitely recommend this place.
Fun place for cocktails and hanging out. Super friendly bartenders!
Good food and service
Nice brunch menu. Excellent service and reasonably priced.
Delicious, reasonably priced, and generous portions. Great atmosphere as well. Will definitely be returning. Try the pork belly tacos. They are even better than Taco Bamba's in my opinion.
Wonderful
Live close by and had driven by several times before deciding to come on a Monday night to try their special burger deal. Cool atmosphere and design and very clean. Made a reservation but wasn’t very busy when we walked in. Server was nice and did a good job. Burger and fries ended up being very good. Dropped it down to 4 stars because I asked a guy to change the TV on our side of the restaurant to sports from the classical movie that was on and he said he couldn’t because it was his manager’s rule. I thought he was messing with me at first but was serious. Kind of a weird policy to not give the people what they want. Nice place though. Would probably come again.
Half priced bottles of wine on Wednesday is legit.
The marrow burger is delicious
I'm not sure there's a better burger in Alexandria. And if you go on Monday, their Mason Burger is $6.50 all day. At that price point, it definitely can't be beat. It's a deal at twice the price.
A better than usual, actually well better than usual, neighborhood pub, relaxed, friendly, good and interesting takes on pub fare.
One of our favorite spots!
Decent local bar and restaurant. The food is a little overpriced for what you get. But, it is very convenient if you live nearby. Check out their social media for the food and drink specials. However, the happy hour items are only available in the bar area, and not in the back part of the restaurant.
Good food and good happy hour. A little on the pricey side but not too bad.
Totally yummy in my tummy. Loved the mason punch. I got the beet salad with salmon. It was something i would def go back for. My BF tried the marrow burg. Interesting concept indeed. Love
Great atmosphere. Down home service..
Great food
This is my go to local bar. Great food and bartenders. Everything on the menu is good but the steak fritz is the best.
Perfect neighborhood bar!
Being a native to Alexandria ,it is difficult to navigate the changes that are swiftly occurring at every corner! Often times establishments swoop in and completely ignore the essence of the communities they serve ... NOT Mason social ! Mason social has come into the Old Town/ Del Ray area and truly enhanced all that is around it ! From its rustic yet modern decor to its tasty signature cocktails, this place gets it ! Super fast , super good service, awesome seasonal menu ugh I can’t hush enough about this gem! If you want affordable luxury dining in a trendy setting ... Mason social is your place!!!!
I think it's easily the best gastropub in Alexandria/NOVA. Everything I've had there is done very well with high quality ingredients. Cool, comfy vibe inside. Good food, good drinks, always had friendly service.
Mason UN-Social! Walked in on Father’s Day for lunch. First time going here. Sat at the bar. No bartender was present at the time. Another couple came in after us and also sat at the bar. When the bartender finally did come he greeted the other couple who came in after us, offered them menus and took their drink order. Then he left the bar again to give water to a table around the bar. Came back and made the drinks for the other couple. Still not a word to us. Finally he comes to pour a beer at the taps next to where we are sitting. Still says NOTHING!!! I finally said Hello! He goes, do you want menus? I replied that would be nice. By this point I had had enough and we promptly left the establishment. All done Mason UNsocial...
Nice bar and I reccomend the fish tacos.
The food was good had appetizers shared among three people and took some home
great spot...in between local spot...trendy but not overblown...
Delicious. Very friendly and efficient service. Marrow Mondays worth a stop for the Marrow Burger.
We almost walked out because of the attitude of the host/ server, who made us feel like we were not worthy of his attention. Food was good enough.
I was visiting from out of town and my family and I decided to try this place out for brunch one Sunday. It was a great experience overall. The staff was courteous, efficient and attentive to everyone in my the parties’ needs. The drinks were pretty darn good and the food was spot on as well. The restaurant had a very quaint and inviting atmosphere and was very clean for how busy it was. On that note, I would certainly always call ahead and make reservations or at least to check in on how busy they are if you have a larger group. We waited about 20 to 30 minutes for a table for a group of six. Overall, a great experience throughout and would highly recommend to anyone wandering around Alexandria looking for a nice little place to grab a bite and relax.
Great place!
Food was excellent. Recommend the rock fish or the scallops. Try the hushpuppies for dessert.
Very nice, rustic set up. Food was basic but done well. Nice wait staff.
Great food and staff
Ya, kind of blown away with how delicious the food is. While the celery root hummus is more of a spread than a dip, I would devour it in any day of the week. I hope they sell it sometime. Everything else was also good, including their Taco Tuesday tacos. And their rockfish dish was so incredibly flavorful, that one grain of salt more would have been too much. I mean it was all just right, including the beautiful sear of the fish.
Lamb biscuits and gravy were delicious! Wish it was a liiitle bigger though!
Good food, good service
I've come here for a couple of happy hours and they really have some awesome specials here. I always get their hummus dip, lamb meatballs, beer mussels and wings. If your a fan of tacos you have to stop by for their taco Tuesday or happy hour specials. The fried chicken and pork belly tacos are a must try. Value wise I feel like they give you alot for what you pay for. They have some fun cocktails and a nice beer selection as well. Great place to stop by after work for a couple of hours to avoid the DC traffic.
Great happy hour with really good apps. We look forward to their next restaurant in the area.
Nice atmosphere, really great happy hour drink and food offerings, fun and friendly staff.
Wine down Wednesday with your ladies at Mason Social = Perfection!
Comfort food but pricey
The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and their beer and drink selection is large enough to provide options without being overwhelming.
Fried Chicken and macaroni and cheese...delicious...drink cocktails..incredible...nice staff and cozy spot...
Awesome daily deals and such a great house burger!
Great brunch menu, from an out-of-towner. Reasonably priced.
Ate brunch here... Great bloody Mary's to start Lamb gravy and biscuits is to die for.. very impressed
Great food and drinks!
Nice menu and delightful staff.
Solid local spot for food and adult bevetages.
good place, nice servers
A dive bar feel with a classy joint mentality
Amazing business with kind employees.
Went there for lunch on a Monday afternoon and it was delicious. I would go back for dinner.
Good Happy Hour drinks and food. Deviled eggs, fried pickles and more.
Biscuits and gravy(lamb) best I've ever had
Great brunch menu. What I had was the breakfast sandwich was a meal and a half, and my guest had the crab benedict which she claims was the best she ever had. Finding plenty of neighborhood parking is easy.
This is a great restaurant. The cocktails are very unique and good. The ice cubes are so clear as to be unbelievable. We sampled appetizers, several entrees, sides, and desserts and everything was really good. The night we went, they were playing classic movies, which contributed to a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
The Jambalaya was swimming in oil! So sad :(
Visited Mason Social for their happy, er, "social hour.". Had a couple appetizers and drinks. Bartender was friendly and greeted us quickly, bar was quiet and had good ambiance. The Mason Punch was a delicious combination of sweet and bitter and a good deal for $5 during happy hour. The celery root hummus was a delicious, almost refreshing, type of hummus. The fried pickles were really good - a very light tempura type batter on them and they were miniature dill pickle spears which was a nice alternative to the usual wither slices or large spears. Will definitely be back for dinner soon!
Food wad absolutely delicious! Portions are on the smaller side so I wouldn't go here if your starving. Drinks were ok. The mezzy melon was the best signature cocktail.
Great cocktail list. We only stopped for a quick drink but the service was good & the drinks well made.
Pretty good food, good service, and a nice looking place. All around we were a really satisfied family! It's not amazing, but I doubt it would let anyone down. Prices are about what you'd expect, looking at the place.
An OK local bar, but that's about it. The food is basic bar fare, and not bad, but nothing special. However, the price makes you wish for much more than you get. Limited beer selections on tap, with a few more bottles available. Limited seating in the bar area, but a nice space in the back, along with a new outdoor seating area. You can do worse, but also a lot better within a few block
The bar area at Mason Social attracts a friendly crowd of mostly locals. The decor has an industrial feel, but is still quite cozy. The drink menu is extensive and demonstrates a knowledge of cocktail history--and the punch is fun.
Good time. Great people.
Food great and drinks awsome. Service spectacular. This was our first time so let's see when we go back soon.
Service was great. Menu is good but limited for those on low carb diets.
The pros: Great atmosphere and ambiance, seriously the place looks really cool The cons: Menu has a solid presentation but lacks in delivery. Had a great Lamb biscuits and gravy but the French Toast was dry, didnt come with butter and had precisely one strawberry. I was excited to try this place after living nearby for awhile but left disappointed. May give them another go for happy hour but wouldn't come back for food.
The night started off great! We made a reservation and arrived 30 min early, thankfully they were able to seat us. Unfortunately it was right under an air conditioning vent which was super cold. We got the fried green tomatoes to start and they were delicious! For the entrees, we got the pasta jambalaya and fried chicken. Both were on par with expectations but nothing to demand a second trip back. The first round of drinks were delicious! The molasses fig was my favorite! It had a slightly smoky note and a subtle sweet finish. The second round I got the rhubarac and it reminded me of cough syrup. Yuk. All in all, it's a great spot that is away from the crowds that serves a solid meal along with great service! The staff was attentive and served auth a smile!
Condiment area unkept
Great fish tacos!
Service is nice, but at times preoccupied. Well made cocktails. A lot of young adults come here for weekend brunch. It's a good place to talk business over lunch.
Great little local spot. Fantastic food, drinks and atmosphere.
Very nice outdoor dinning area!!
Staff is attentive and it's a nice place for locals. The food and drinks are pretty good.
A local bar with a huge variety of drinks (cocktails in a focus) and enough meal options. The service is mediocre, especially if you order something uncommon like a cup of tea with milk....finally, you can get a cup, a teabag, milk on the side, but no water! Not overcrowded on the weekends which is a plus
Great service...great food. Try a taco Tuesday lunch at the bar!
Has good seafood eggs Benedict. The burrito is also very good.
Good food and drinks, but the service left a little to be desired. Overall, good spot for lunch.
Great drinks- food I've had has been meh... Although to be fair I've only eaten there twice during happy hour
Taco Tuesday at Mason Social is a winner! We found a wonderful atmosphere, fast friendly service, and were served delicious, well seasoned tacos. Street parking can be a bit of a challenge. Will definitely be back soon!!!!
Great food good drinks excellent service
Great menu, seafood, steak, burgers fried chicken, corn salsa is the best I've ever tasted
I'm not sure why I don't go here more often. It truly is a great lunch spot with good food choices and reasonable prices. Lisa was an awesome server and thankfully recommended the half kale and brussel sprout salad. Winner! The chili hotdogs on toasted rolls were just what I wanted on a sunny but breezy day. Don't wait to visit this place and take a friend. The bars (2) looked very welcoming.
Taco Tuesday was a hit!
This is actually a really good joint. I've been driving past it for years, and I'm glad that I finally gave it a try. It's also animal friendly, well at least the outdoor patio section.
Food is a little expensive but good. Bar seating tends to fill up quick the few times I've been. Beer selection is good and seems to be targeted towards local brews.
I made a 12:15pm reservation. Walking up to the hostess, she doesnt look up at all and says hold on please as shes looking at the tablet. When she was ready to help us she looks up and says "yes?" As if we were bothering her. Terrible 1st impression. She seats us and after waiting almost 10 minutes to be greeted we decided to leave. I'll never give this place a try again. Multiple staff members walked by and saw us. However, nobody touched the table.
Great cocktails, mixed experience with food. The appetizers were good (e.g. shrimp, soup) but sliders were too citrus/lemony. Our friends had the cordon Bleu which was too dry but other friends loved their food.
Amazing spot with a lovely neighborhood feel. Delish food, the wings and lamb meatball sandwich is sooo good! Mason punch is worth a try when you are there
I was here for lunch on a Monday. The parking is very poor nearby so it may be a bit of a walk. We were there on the early side so it was pretty empty except a few folks in the bar area. It got a little busier into the noon hour, but for some reason what seemed to be the manager had to serve everyone himself which was odd. At times this led to some delays in things like getting drink refills. I had the marrow burger which is on special on Mondays. It was quite good and included fries which for other burgers is an upcharge item instead of chips. Overall a cool space and friendly staff with good food. I've also heard good things about their cocktails though it was a bit early for that when we went.
Had a few snacks; chilli and fried green tomatoes... I thought the menu lacked creativity... However, what we had was good... Worth a try I guess... The food taste better than the menu looks
Quiet night, went for a nightcap, which was a great choice with their crafted cocktails. Good beer selection, too.
Food was good, a little spice nothing special. Nice vibe.
Sunny, bright restaurant. Good food.
I enjoyed my food here. Everyone was very friendly.
Wonderful atmosphere, jambalaya pasta to die for. So is the autumn mule.
Food was good. The outdoor seating has no shade.
Host grilled us when we walked into the dining area and sat down, it was only because we walked in and didn't see a host. Food was ok. Drinks were decent. Place was empty (like the photo displayed on their profile).
I really wanted to enjoy my brunch experience here because I’ve heard so many good things, and the atmosphere is very cool. Awesome decor and good music. Unfortunately, that’s really where the pros end for me. I thought you couldn’t go wrong with French toast - everywhere I’ve had French toast for brunch, there was some special ingredient or component to really make it a delicious dish. Not so at all at Mason Social. Not only was the French toast dry, it was lacking one of the key ingredients boasted on the menu: strawberries. The “French Toast with Strawberries” came with exactly one strawberry - one small slice per slice of bread on the plate. Between the dryness, lack of flavor and strawberries, and the fact that I had to ask for butter, I can safely recommend this to no one. Beyond the meal, we received decently quick service, but we didn’t actually have a server. It seemed that whoever was available at a given moment would show up, so I wasn’t sure who we were giving a tip to or who to ask for anything.
Great service good, food and music
Selection of beers and cocktails were great and food was amazingly delicious. Such a nice place to enjoy a great time!
I’ve been driving by this place daily and I’ve never been. So glad i decided to stop day. Sooooooo good. If you go on a weekday afternoon it’s not packed at all super chill and low key spot. . Chris is like the best waiter/bartender ever. Ask him to make you a side car... he made his first one with me and it was great! I spilled the first one and he quickly made me another. The veggie burger is phenomenal and if you like things super spicy ask for a side of the habanero wing sauce... it’s nose running good!
Underwelmed. Crab and artichoke dip was dry. The scallops were small and inconsistent in size and extremely over cooked and the risotto undercooked. Thyme based cocktail tasted like basic orange juice; No uniqueness. The smore dessert could have been better torched; shortcake meh. Not once did anyone ask us how our meal was or how the food tasted. Don't make need to rush back there again.
Nice neighborhood spot for sport watching or patio seating; great beer, cocktails and a bite to eat!
Great food and good beer/cocktail selection
We are regulars for brunch here. Great cocktails and quality menu for brunch. My go to is the lamb gravy and biscuits with a bloody Mary. Recommend enjoying brunch at the bar!
Delicious high end food and drinks. Very impressed. I will come back. Brussel sprout taco and Pimm's cup were memorable.
Great food and service. Very noisy so make sure you don't need to talk much.
Slow service, overpriced food for mediocre flavors.
Love the bar and restaurant decor. Good vibe and better music. Staff is friendly and we really enjoyed the cocktails and food. Already looking forward to coming back for another meal. Came for brunch on this trip. Recommend a visit. Just know it does get very busy at night.
Great food and friendly fun vibes
Nice place. Our waitress was very nice and the food was good.
Nice space with smiley service and tasty food.
It's not a pretentious place, but they crank out a lot of good things. I think I've only come here for happy hour and maybe brunch once, but the food has always been solid, and the drinks are approachable, but slightly different combinations. You'd be foolish not to try their Mason punch, especially when it's happy hour. It has not been very busy the times I've been, but I'm hardly a late night barfly. This is good since you can always grab a table or sit at the bar without a hassle. Definitely worth the 3 block walk from the Braddock Road Metro. This makes getting out of Alexandria after happy hour a breeze.
Great bar food, apps good for sharing. Their hummus is a great after work snack and the mason punch is delicious
Open and fun atmosphere with some amazing food and great cocktails. Grab the marrow burger or hot chicken sandwhich if you can! I washed mine down with an old fashioned
Drinks are great (old fashion particularly)!! Good whiskey/bourbon selection. Cool Bartenders...
Visited more than a few times for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Casual, modern atmosphere. Good place for get-togethers that is walkable from Old Town but easier parking for out-of-towners. Super good, interesting menu. Accomodates vegetarians. Really likable management team who try to make each visit super.
I tried the Mason burger and it was literally the best burger I've had, and no that is not hyperbole. It came with a bunch of homemade potato chips and I had a strawberry lemonade with it. The atmosphere was nice, the place was clean, and service was excellent. I only regret that I ate there right before my doctor appointment because... oof my weight was a few pounds higher and I felt bloated.
Good food and atmosphere. Love eating outside
Great drinks..good atmosphere..def coming back!!
Good food. Good atmosphere. Great service.
Get the fried chicken! The service was great too!
I never fail to have fun here. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the food is delicious and creative.
Mason punch is the best! Staff is always friendly and the food is very good.
Both food and alcohol were up to par as well as service!
Food is amazing, service is very friendly, atmosphere is good, the whole place is very clean, parking is street only though. Definitely a place to return to!
Good food and service
We really like mason social, and come here all the time, since we live nearby. We have pretty much tried the whole menu at this point, and everything is good or great. The hot wings are VERY spicy, and my boyfriend loves them. The brunch is also pretty good.
Went here for dinner on a Wednesday night date, I love the industrial feel and casual atmosphere of the place! We ordered the Crab & Artichoke Dip, Swordfish Kabobs and the Mason Fried Chicken (which came with macaroni and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and the house hot sauce which was delicious!) We will definitely be returning to try the happy hour next time, which now has been extended to 8pm. Can't wait to try the cocktails!
Loved the food and drink selection. Service was good too.
Cool atmosphere, great Mac and cheese. Burger was excellent but the bun was soggy. The shrimp on our salad we're embarrassingly small for a mid tier restaurant. However the steak on the salad was out of this world. Craft beer selection was top notch!!
Very nice wait staff, fast kitchen, good ambiance, nice selection of food and tasty too. I have food allergies and This restaurant is always happy to accommodate me. They get it right and I have no worries. I love their customized omelet on Sundays. The restaurant is petty busy on Sundays with their regular clientele enjoying their mimosas but we always manage to get a seat right away.
It was ok for brunch. My waffle did not taste fresh. The coffee was tepid, the mimosa was not bubbly. Corned beef hash was uninspiring. Ok but not special.
I came in on a Thursday evening with a few friends for drinks and apps. The service was great the food was ok. We had an ahi tuna, crab and artichoke dip and sliders. The best thing was the crab dip and it wasn't the most flavorful. Atmosphere and ambiance was nice. We sat in the back dining area so we could chat. The front bar area was nice and could be a good option for game watching.
I met a friend here for dinner and drinks: - Service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. - Atmosphere was trendy, quiet, not a big space, cozy - Food: We ordered a few different appetizers instead of entrees. All were pretty good but nothing I would race back for unfortunately. - Overall I would go back to try this again and would recommend to others.
Good service. Good food. Good crowd. Prefer the bar for seating. The rest of the place looks a bit like a hotel lobby restaurant.
One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I found this restaurant after getting a good recommendation from a friend. Found that I had to at least wait an hour to get a seat. I was fine with that if that’s what it takes to get a good meal, but that was not the case. Their food gave me food poisoning. I had to stay out of work for three days after that. If bad meals and unreasonable wait is your thing I would recommend this place.
Great food, friendly service
Great little local place
The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't special either. I don't think I'd go back. Also, who uses cumin in fried chicken?!? It was very unsettling...
Mason Social is a classic local venue off the tourist path. You won't get great "knock your socks off" 5 star food. But what you will get is solid American food, very friendly and prompt service at reasonable prices. Street parking is available to visitors after 5 pm weekdays and all weekend. Dinner specials Mon - Fri. I've been twice, and would feel comfortable taking out of town family or guests here.
Nice brunch ambience. Enough room inside to actually move around!! I can't wait to use their outdoor seating in nice weather! Good was great and reasonably priced!
Great drinks, food and atmosphere!! They always surprising you with great new drinks!!
