Service is horrible. They brought out my wife's food, but not mine. They give you so little food for your money ($10 for 3 miniature tacos with no sides) that she was finished, my food never came; I was forgotten. The guy at the next table over ordered the same dish 10 minutes after I did, but got his. You'd think they'd notice someone sitting there not eating anything. It's not like the waiter ever came back to check on us; he just disappeared.

The food was amazing! I had a tripe taco and the Honduran Pollo con Tajados. The prices were much lower than I'd expect for the quality and quantity of food I got. The service was quick, curteous, and helpful. My friend was a little disappointed that they didn't have sweet tea, or something he called white sauce/salsa. I'm not sure what that is, but for those of you that do, be warned they don't have it. I'll definitely visit again.

I don't know enough to tell if the food here is "authentic," but it is certainly delicious! My husband had the chori-pollo and he loved it - two pieces of chicken and a ton of grilled sausage. I had sopas, one with steak and one with chicken. They both tasted great. We both got generous amounts of rice, beans, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Everything was seasoned perfectly. We both ate half of our meal and were stuffed - plenty for a full lunch tomorrow. Chips and salsa tasted great too. Service very good.

I hate to write a review based on a single experience of dining, but I am not really a guinea pig for Google. Good news: this place seems clean and the Burrito Verde is enormous. Unfortunately I like water, I like to see a menu before I order, and I don't love the decor and atmosphere of a high school cafeteria. I am now seventy-five years old and I have eaten Mexican food in restaurants from here to Tulum. So I have to ask, what were all you five-star experts thinking? "That was a big burrito for only eleven bucks!"? "Genuine imported Mexican beer for only four bucks a bottle!"? Step up, for heaven's sake! You could have saved me from this lunch! Now if YOU like salsa that is so mild and generic that you can't taste it on your rather greasy nacho chips, and if YOU like very slightly warm food to accompany your very slightly cool beer, I admit you may find yourself in hog heaven among the other locos. Spring for a few margaritas and you may think you're in a five-star restaurant eating five-star food. Or maybe not. But don't tell them I sent you. I think Dawn M a month ago may actually have more nearly hit the nail on the head, but I am sorry to say I have dined in places where the food was actually contaminated, so this is better than those were. They like calling it fast food because the decor is nothing special and the food gets to you rather quickly, but, Oh My God, the food is terrific. If you just want TexMex, this will still be very good, but if you want to try something different, something truly AUTHENTIC, REAL Mexican food, then this is IT.

Los Paisas Locos is a smaller Mexican joint in an unassuming parking lot in Newport News. There is a good bit of seating and a small bar area as well. The service was alright and our food came out pretty fast. I ordered the tamales which came with rice and beans. The tamales were pretty authentic and flavorful

I took my family for diner here the food had ok but the price too high, we order in total 12 tacos 1 side of fries and 4 drinks total cost of 54 dollers. Too expensive! We I come from probably would of pay half of that there excuse is because the had hand made tortillas come on I pay 1.75 for tacos made with hand made tortillas right at the moment when you make your order not from " the same day" look like out here is a privilege to eat mexican food...

A very nice, authentic restaurant. I had gotten a bean, cheese, and rice burrito with pico and guacamole. Unfriendly as I ate through the burrito it turned into practically 90% rice, which disappointed me because I'm not actually a big fan of rice. That being said, the rice was really well done and I'll just have to remember next time to ask for no rice. The staff is friendly and the chips and salsa are fantastic. Overall a very nice place to eat.

The food here was just "ok," but the service was far from acceptable if you have any allergies or disarray restrictions, this is not the pace to come. After letting the server know about allergies, we ordered. After the food started to come out, and we asked again and again, we had to send back over half of our food because she didn't bother to check. Finally we asked about the ingredients in one of the side to which the response was "I don't know what's in it." The restaurant itself looked a dirty hot mess, the bathroom was filthy, and the tables were not even cleaned off.

Great Mexican restaurant here on the peninsula! Food is always fresh and made to order. I personally enjoy the tortas with carne asada, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, beans guacamole, jalapenos and cheese. I wash it all down with a ice cold, fresca Jarritos.

My friend took me to this place after saying that I've wanted some real good authentic Mexican food, now I'm also Mexican, and I've been craving the heck out of some flautas but to all the other Mexican restaurants I've been with I've tried out different dishes an always left unsatisfied or disappointed. This place did the absolute opposite. It was so delicious and you definitely get enough on your plate to fill you up. Very well made, different salsas, super authentic, very satisfied I will definetly be going back again to try out their menudo!!

O.M G.!!! This is the most authentic Mexican place I've been in the state of Virginia!!! And better than some places that should specialize in the genre outside of the state. Absolutely avoid this restaurant!! First, we go in and seated ourselves. Waited 15 minutes and were still not acknowledged so I had to get up and request assistance. The waitress came over with an attitude and asked us for our drink orders. We told her and without a word she turned and walked away. After about 5 minutes, I got up to ask for a menu and was assured that they would get some right out to us. Another 5 minutes go by and finally got our drinks. She set them down and walked off to help another table. She walked over to another waitress standing in the corner and said inSpanish, "stupid white people", not knowing I'm bilingial. Didn't bring our menus or anything. SO SO glad the poor service actually happened because right at that moment a little cockroach came out from under our table and up along the wall!! I don't think we could have gotten out of that restaurant fast enough. DEFINITELY reported this to code enforcement the next morning and wow, besides the COCKROACH trying to join us for dinner, this was the absolute WORST experience I have ever dealt with in a restaurant! My advice, stay far far away!!!

It be alot better if the waiters actually did their jobs. You literally have to try to get noticed to have a refill as well as they dont ask you if you or your party want anything else an put up the check right their. Waiter system is a joke being handled by kids prolly 18 years old at best an they sit down on other tables chit chatting and or on phones. This place use to be great before they remodled an expanded wider. It use be always busy an awesome but lately i see it like a ghost town.. food is great but service is terrible. This place seems to be hit and miss. Their burritos so far are great (Burrito California is my favorite), but some other dishes I've tried have been quite bland and even overcooked. Sides are pricy, like $2 for extra sour cream. I've only eaten in a few times (I mostly order to go), and the service was okay.

Great food! If you want your typical Tex-Mex (fake Mexican) restaurant, go elsewhere. This is authentic Mexican. I’ve spent a lot of time in Mexico, specifically the small fishing village, Isla Mujeres, MX. “Los Paisas Locos” is closest to authentic Mexican cuisine that I’ve found in Va. The sandwiches (Tortas) are incredible, served on fresh homemade bread. “Torta Cubana” is my favorite. Authentic Tacos, in corn tortias, felt like was back on Hildago Street in Isla Mujeres. El Pastor (marinated pork) tacos are my favorite.

Nope! Stopped in, and regretted it!! We were not greeted. We waited a very long time for a server. THE SERVICE SUCKS. This is a common review complaint. Finally, a waitress arrived. She did NOT speak English. I do not speak Spanish. Ordering was a nightmare. This was reflected when we got our food. It was NOT anything that we tried to order. We were on a time crunch, so did not attempt to re-order, or send back. Not sure it would have mattered anyways. No one came to see how things were. We just decided to go ahead and eat. It was not busy. In the meantime, a table of four young Hispanic men came in, and sat at the next table. The waitress was beyond attentive!!! In fact, she barely left their table. Catering to their every whim, and blatantly flirting. It was then we noticed she was wearing an ankle monitor. Cool, every one deserve a chance. But, she was dressed like a women on a street corner, rather than a waitress. Watching her, with the four men, she was also acting like one!! We had to get up and go find our bill (for food we didn't order/want), when we had observed several other tables, were given theirs. The whole time we were there, they had some kind of construction happening. LOUD hammering, drilling, banging and just unpleasant very loud noise. The food was just OK. Not good, not bad. It was cold. So, that may not have helped my opinion. No matter how good the food could have been, it doesn't matter if the service is seriously BAD!!! Go somewhere else, to spend your hard earned money.

The food was amazing! I'm going to give them that credit. However everything else was terrible. Nobody there knows what service is. The margarita I got they decided to put God knows how much salt into, also decided to serve me while leaving my company to wait an additional 10 minutes for her meal. In addition, since when do you need to ask for silverware. Prior to expanding this was one of my favorite places. Now they're garbage, they were tipped garbage.

the short: locos USED to be great. real emphasis on USED TO. The business has expanded into the space next door which essentially tripled there floor space. The food quality has dropped dramatically and the service has fallen about the same. Tables and silverware are dirty and sticky with what smells like rancid grease. Dinner food/service is better then the lunch food/service which is bordering on horrible. prices have inched up so that the fare is no longer a deal. other places around the corner in the area are just as expensive and way better. The long: THE FOOD: its sloppy and un-inspired. flavor is bland, meats are dry, rice seems old. the drinks are limited the salsa isn't bad and there is a good selection, chips are greasy and stale. SERVICE: BEWARE: you may have to fill your own drinks if you want a refill. the service is painful experience between the servers not knowing there own menu, not knowing whats in stock and how things are prepared. RESTAURANT: the floors are sticky in spots, stay away from the bathrooms. The table we were seated at was slimey and smelled strongly of racid oil. while we were there i witnessed a server wiping the table with what looked like a bucket of dishwater (most likely where the greasy feel came from)

Authentic Mexican food inside a comfy little restaurant. Margaritas are good but weren't strong in my opinion so I asked to add an extra shot of tequila and that did the trick. The tacos were amazing and the quesadilla I had was the best in Hampton Roads. Also it was pretty easy on the wallet. Highly recommended if you are tired of all the typical Tex-Mex restaurants. Highly recommended in general.

The woman who maybe owns here are very polite and patience since we are deaf, the burrito are super huge! Taste great and the rice are super delicious! Since I am a visitor from Philadelphia. ..will be missed!

What a great find! The have a salsa bar with some amazing flavors of salsa! The pupusa is not available at most restaurants but I was able to get one here and I was not disappointed!

Terrible and also racist. We came and waited over 10 minutes, I’m african American and was never served me and my friend so we left. Never go here if you aren’t Mexican you will NOT BE SERVED.
