Here you will see all the reviews of real people who use the services of Lemaire (Restaurant) in Virginia.
As of day this firm has a score of 4.7 over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 321 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is nearly the best one, and it is founded on a high number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of American restaurant.
Loved the food and the attention. The waiter was very informative and was very attentive. It was all worth it.
Wonderful Anniversary dinner! Food and service are impeccable. Atmosphere is gorgeous. We love dining here.
Happy hour old fashioneds were not consistent even when both my partner and I ordered one at the Same time. Regular cocktails were... Fine? Incredibly overpriced. Got a couple of apps that were good but also tiny and over priced. Only reason to go is for the beautiful hotel.
I usually come here once in a month to get my favorite drink. Lady at the front counter remembered my name and my order, very thoughtful. The food and beverages here are delicious and the service is unmatched. I definitely recommend this place to all of my friends and coworkers.
Delicious food & excellent service. Ask for Michael; he's very knowledgable
Lemaire offers delicious food and very good service. It is a bit stuffy when you first enter; the host at the entrance made us feel a little bit uncomfortable. The decor is traditional but the room we were in was a bit gloomy. There were some marks on the linens and on the cutlery as well. Service was great, and the food was delightful. Overall a great restaurant that could be improved by making you feel more welcome at the entrance, and more attention to detail. At over $100 for a dinner for two, the linens should be clean, at a minimum.
Excellent dinner in a refined and comfortable setting
Food was superb and delicious, service was excellent.
This is my favorite spot in Richmond. I used to go here every other month for the Creme Brulee and their happy hour specials (for food). The service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is great. This place is a little pricey and if you plan to get full from your meal, then think again. The portions are small but they are amazingly Delicious. If you ever go here, I 100% recommend the Creme Brulee especially with the berries and mint.
Had breakfast so far, very good
This was our first visit to the new location. We loved the old location in Shockoe Bottom so I was skeptical. I like their new location with the large windows ...they can open the inside window/doors depending on how they need to do seating. The atmosphere was airy, modern but warm and inviting at the same time.
This was a great place to go ten years ago, and it's still great. Thanks for your commitment to service!
Bar is laid back and relatively casual during Saturday evening happy hour. If you’re not in the mood to drop serious coin on the full menu, the bar menu has plenty of options and everything we had was excellent. Past proper dining in the restaurant was spot on.
so beautiful! we came here for dinner and all the Christmas decor was up. this place is pretty big, so much to see. the restaurant was amazing! the staff was so professional and attentive. the food was really good as well!
The service was outstanding and the food was too
Such a lovely place. We had a wonderful experience here. The staff made us feel very special, they took great care of us. The food was very well presented and delicious. Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion meal; it's high quality and classy but very reasonably priced. Plus you'll get to walk through the beautiful lobby of the Jefferson hotel.
The staff was very attentive without being overbearing. The waiter Matt was knowledgeable and very nice. The food was amazing!!
Fine spot for tasty American food. The staff was very sociable and kind. It has a good feel to it. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I liked.
This is a really fine restaurant in a lovely hotel. I had the salmon and was most impressed. Service was quite good as well.
A little "uppity" for my liking, however, the food was fantastic. Lighting could be a little better. Overall a great place with good service. I recommend.
Good food and nice atmosphere.
Great meal. Great service. Great wine list. Oysters were in still in season, so I had to order them. The restaurant has its own oyster bed. Wonderful. The lamb was off the bone tender. The restaurant has recently undergone a menu up grade. Well worth the effort. This is an old hotel. Enjoy the historic atmosphere.
Good food but normally very loud due to the adjoining bar.
Great atmosphere and service. Food is delectable. Best scallops in Richmond! Crabcakes are amazing also. Cocktails and wine are top notch. This is such a special place to treat yourself to. We try and go three or four times a month. Very relaxing.
Had a great experience and Ashley was absolutely amazing!!! We are very much looking forward to our next visit to Lemaire!!!
Amazing Food, Wine and Service
Looking to treat yourself and your significant other? This is the place. Nestled inside the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, you wont be disappointed. Be advised, this is not your average restaurant, so be prepared to pay $100 a plate/meal with drinks. But trust me, if you're about class and getting spoiled, this is the place to go! A+ service
Awesome place, nice and romantic ambiance. Food as delicious. Staff was very knowledgeable on recommendations of wine. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Exceptional food, service, cocktails, and setting
Loving it. The food is great and we love all the scenic. The combos a is making full quick. Thats good. We are coming back again
Can't speak for the dining experience since I've only been to the happy hour at the bar. But everything is great on the happyhour menu. Love all their cocktails. Pretty big portion compared to the price too.
Wonderful restaurant in historic Jefferson Hotel. The food was delicious and our server waa attentive. I had questions about the wine list and within seconds, the sommelier was there to help. Despite such an elegant atmosphere draped in so much history, the restaurant never felt stuffy.
Beautiful restaurant and bar/lounge area. Free valet parking. Excellent service. The scallops were delicious. The buccatini was a little underwhelming. The rice side dish was bland and tasted more like something from cracker barrel than a high end restaurant. The honey pot dessert was creative and unique. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Excellent food. Portion sizes a bit small given the prices, but five stars nevertheless.
Awesome place met a lot of really nice people
Great food and service
Took my wife for our 12th anniversary, food and atmosphere was great. Will definitely go back.
Great food great people great place. Never disappointed!!
Great spot for happy hour with colleagues or drinks before dinner on a date night. A quick walk from VCU campus. I recommend the B.O.B.
really excellent cocktails at this place
Fantastic food and sweet drinks.
Delish!
Wonderful Meal! Great service and an Excellent stay at the Jefferson!
Obviously five stars. Nuff said. I don't even want the points for a more detailed review.
Unbeatable happy hour cocktails.
Truly one of the best places to eat! Great place to impress a first date or that special long term someone. The candlelight is great but I think it would be more effective if the lights could be dimmer. In either case, because I have a Black Card I simply had them to locate a place and make the reservation. I was very impressed with the setting. Carissa was amazing! Very attentive but not overly. The food is what you should expect. The organic chicken is to die for...really! I was prepared to spend a thousand dollars! So after all this the verdict is in...go and you will not be disappointed!!! Make allowances for imperfections and don't be as critical as some of the posters I see here. It really is worth your time and money. I'm planning to return soon! The atmosphere takes you back in time. So serene! 5 stars all day and night long!
The class of RVA. Great service and great food.
Incredible food! An epicurean delight. Priced for people to prepare to be shocked!
Best food I've ever had
Richmond fine dining. Great for special occasions.
Food was great, and the decor is so historic and unique. I had the pork chop, which was extremely tender and juicy. The mussels were amazing. Would definitely recommend, and we will go again.
Beautiful bar set up. The bar manager was outstanding. Food was top notch.
Food good. Very pricy. Service was mediocre today.
Delicious with excellent service! Every need was met and the food was great. Within walking distance from hotel made for a very enjoyable evening.
Kind service, good atmosphere~facility was a little old, though.
Excellent
Nice place good food loved it
There isn't a finer restaurant in Richmond. Five star service all the way around.
Good hamburger, however slow service.
Food, atmosphere and service were impeccable. Steaks were cooked precisely as requested, scallops were seered to perfection, portions are appropriately generous, presentation elegant and beverages delicious. For the Richmond market, expensive - with apps, drinks, dessert and tip, figure about $100 pp - but a very memorable experience!
Great happy hour. Good appetizers. Full of flavor!
Wonderful place for drinks and the best appetizers. Service has always been spectacular.
Very nice restaurant. I managed to take some pictures of the to-go desserts which were delicious (though a bit small). The food was fantastic and the place was grand.
Lemaire was fantastic. The service was some of the best in the RVA (as expected from the Jefferson). **IMPORTANT: We had 2 vegans with us and the staff was very accommodating. The menu had some vegan options and the staff had some great suggestions for other dish adjustments to make them vegan friendly.** Expect to spend about $60 per person here with appetizer/salad, entree, and dessert. Add in more if you also want drinks. Don't forget to tip this waitstaff. They are fantastic! As far as the food itself goes, delicious! I loved the steak and kale salad, and my table mates loved the porkchop, cauliflower, and mushrooms also.
Grieg is such a wonderful bartender. Food is pretty decent.
Great, elegant atmosphere. Food was excellent. Our waitor Andrew was very good and especially helpful guiding food choices with food allergies.
Burger was made as ordered. It and the fried green tomatoes tastes very good. Beverages were great.
Great food and service
Delicious meal, excellent service. A great birthday celebration!
best restaurant in RVA....with southern cuisine
We were there for a small wedding and had a private room with a menu set by the bride and groom. We go out to eat quite often and this was one the best meals we have had in a long time. Kudos to the chef.
Excellent food, excellent service.
Service was fantastic; Nick was a great server and was very patient and accommodating. The food was good, but was not amazing.
Wow! Imaginative French food that tastes wonderful. Great service as well.
Celebrated our anniversary dinner. Amazing food, drinks, and service. We loved our dessert with chocolate, peanut butter, marshmallow, and brittle.
Can not recommend this place enough. I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary, and we were rewarded with an incredible dining experience. Our server was highly knowledgeable of the menu and ensured our night was literally perfect. From the drinks, to the appetizer, to entrees and dessert, everything was flawless. Expect one of the best meals of your life at Lemaire!
Get the 1879 at the bar.
My second time here for room and meal. Wore smart casual attire and the service was somehow not that attentive as it used to be, probably because I was served by a young trainee waitress. It was great the first time round. I have to give 4/5 for that reason. As for food quality, it was just great. The starter strawberry & rhubarb salad was refreshing. Main course special rib-eye steak was very presentable and delicious. Paired perfectly well with a glass of Priest Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, which was outstanding.
Wonderful service and atmosphere
I would give the whole experience a 6.7/10. It is a must do for RIC, esp during Christmas, however there were a few things that were just not OK. First, don't advertise Wagyu on your menu and have your gullible server tell me that it's Kobe beef. For $60 and it being domestic (Indiana to be exact) I can tell you that there is as much wagyu in that steak as there is Pocahontas in Elizabeth Warren's blood. 2nd and most importantly, the tenderloin. I ordered medium rare and my wife ordered medium. The two preparations were indistinguishable. And worst of all... You all cut the tender down the middle against the grain to create 2 exposed barrel cuts. With no sear against the grain I was completely lost. I had to go out of my way to cut it correctly so I wasn't chewing until tomorrow, and even then I couldn't help but create a few pieces that were disastrous. I feel awful that I consumed a tender from such high quality Angus that was prepared in such a disrespectful way. There are some good things going on in that kitchen, but if you are looking for a high quality beef dish, STAY AWAY!
A great atmosphere for a cozy night out.
Very nice..great food..great service..
What an awesome meal. The abience, the opulence, the staff, the food. I just cannot find anything bad to say. What a wonderful place for a classy night out.
It was a great experience. I definitely recommend Lemaire for cocktails and a delicious meal.
From start to finish, fantastic service and the food was incredible!!! Very well appointed surroundings. Superior when paired together. Mis en place.
Ate in the Lemaire Lounge twice while staying at The Jefferson this weekend. Food was excellent both times. The first even we shared the happy hour special of 3 appetizers for $25 and a few cocktails. We went with the crispy deviled eggs (delicious and very inventive) meatballs & Grits
Great happy hour, they offer a delicious glass of red wine from Spain! Service was also great!
Best restaurant I visited in Richmond. Lovely place, friendly crew, amazing food!
Wonderful ambiance, very good service, and innovative food
This was my first time dining at a "fancy" restaurant, and I took my girlfriend for our anniversary. If you tell them it's an anniversary while making reservations they really do go out of their way to make it special. They were able to accommodate a gluten free request, and for under $100, we split an appetizer, each had dinner and dessert, and every single dish was plated with care and tasted absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be coming back.
Fine dining at its best.
Fantastic food and drinks!
Dinner here is always so nice. Service is professional, knowledgeable and prompt. I like the smaller dining rooms that offer a quieter atmosphere. The menu offers options for everyone. I especially like the gluten free options. The good is beautiful presentation, delicious and well portioned.
Great place with delicious healthy fresh food and amazing service..
Great cocktails and free valet is a nice feature.
Great atmosphere and fabulous food!
Amazing food. World class service.
Service was outstanding, Megan sensed our needs and when we wanted to converse. Our Sommelier chose the best possible selection for the foods we ordered. All of our selections were outstanding...a note, crabcakes was too salty. Both oyster presentations were perfect. The fried oysters, which chef generally over season were so delicious, well done! The popcorn creme brulee was incredible. Iowa State Fair as done by LeMaire. Couldn't have been happier!!
Beautiful restaurant for a full fancy dinner or just drinks and snacks. Surprisingly good Happy Hour drink specials. Wait staff were attentive and quick to bring whatever was requested. #romantic
I love coming to the Jefferson but this was my first time eating at Lemaire. Absolutely lovely atmosphere and a great wine and cocktail list. We ordered the charcuterie and it was pretty good but I wasnt too impressed with the options and they didnt provide the right utensils to actually cut up the meat. Service was a little slow but it was the Monday after Easter. Will definitely go again for the drinks and a full meal. Outside patio was really nice.
Excellent from start to finish. Outstanding menu, service, and food.
Very fancy! Very expensive... food was worth it through! That is the peaches and cream cheesecake :)
Very nice restaurant. Went here recently got Valentine's Day. Free parking available right across the street. Located inside the Jefferson Hotel, which is just amazing, such a beautiful looking establishment. The room was candlelit and I had a small table for two right next to the window. The service was excellent, from our waiter to the servers. Our waiter gave us some excellent recommendations. The bone in pork chop was hearty and delicious. The scallops were seared perfectly. The fried oyster appetizer was great. There was a generous amount for sharing. The desserts were good also. Roasted banana bread pudding and caramel apple pecan cheesecake were both delicious. My only complaint is that we ordered the crabcake appetizer and there was only one medium sized crab cake. Maybe if I was eating alone, it would have been fine, but because I wanted to share with someone else, it was a bit of a disappointment, especially since the crabcake was so delicious. If you want to dress up in a suit or a nice dress and treat yourself to an enjoyable evening, Lemaire at the Jefferson Hotel is highly recommended.
Asked for well done and got medium rare, which is fine I understand people make mistakes. Asked for well done again, 10 minutes go by and here comes my beef AGAIN medium rare but this time even more pink. Waitress didnt even check on us again, do the chefs even get trained? My 12 year old son knows the difference between pink or no pink. Meat being rare the first time shame on them, meat being rare the second time shame on me, next time I'm taking my money somewhere else.
Delicious food with exceptional server.
Food was fantastic. Prices were HORRIBLE. $21 for a burger. And that was the most inexpensive entree on the menu. Service was fairly slow, but she was very nice andpleasant. Building was INCREDIBLY beautiful. Probably would not go again for the expensive prices.
The hotel was AMAZING and the food was wonderful!
Lovely and fun
Good cocktails, great service! Happy hour has awesome deals on beer and champagne cocktails. The pimento cheese app at the bar is killer, and possibly the best French fries in the city. Fry score: 9.6/10
Had breakfast there and it was to die for. Went there for an appetizer and drinks and the service couldn't have been worse. So I split it in half
Great food !!!
Excellent ambience, deco, food was on point. We were in the private dining room and it was an excellent experience .
Pricey but worth every penny!!
Nice and quite for a romantic dinner.
A grand space in an historic hotel. Good menu choices. Food prepared very well. Prices quite reasonable for the setting. This will be my go-to place when I am in Richmond.
Lovely staff, wonderful experience, but the vegetatian/vegan options are always limited and lacking.
Great eat and historic.
Awesome dinner with my sister Lori!!
Best steak of my life.
Love this place for a special occadion.
American food and the atmosphere at this spot is excellent. super delicious. looking forward to coming back with my coworkers. bring your appetite because portions are large.
Excellent food and service. Seafood dishes were on point. Everything was beautifully plated, sauces and garnishes were spot on.
Awesome New American cuisine with great service in a classic late 19th Century hotel.
Nice ambience friendly wait staff. Unfortunately the two fish entrees that we ordered monkfish and rockfish were a huge disappointment. Lacking in appealing flavor and salty being the only noticeable spice. Service was entirely too slow was literally unable to get out of the restaurant in less than 2 hours. On the bright side the desserts were delicious.
Nothing beats the atmosphere of The Jefferson and Lemaire and their happy hour is surprisingly affordable and relaxed - a great way to celebrate any occasion! Dinner at Lemaire remains one of Richmond's classics and is hard to beat for special occasions!
I go every year. The service is awesome. The treatment is as if you're the only one in the room. Worth the $$$
Lemaire is one of those places you know you are going to spend some good amount of money on a nice dinner. When you know that you kind of expect to be a great overall experience. Well, Lemaire is one of the restaurants that justifies every single penny. Food was amazing.
Bar food selection was limited and too esoteric.
Nice place for quality American food. visited near twelve, it was not full. really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, i'll be back. it has a good feel to it. feels similar to a restaurant in philadelphia that i enjoyed visiting.
We visited Lemaire after a talk for its convenience. Both food and service were outstanding, but possibly the most distinctive feature was that it was quiet enough so our group could talk without shouting. Rare to find Tile fish on a menu, very nice delicate fish. The mustard preparation may not be my favorite but it was good. Asparagus appetizer with surry ham and poached egg was my favorite. Bar had great cocktails.
Celebrated an anniversary dinner at Lemaire recently. Have always loved the Jefferson for its rich history, architecture and historic Richmond feel. The restaurant is located near the hotel check-in area and has a very active/popular bar right outside of the dining area. This can be highly trafficked on a Friday evening during happy hour, but we were able to find a place to sit and have a drink before our reservation. Wait staff was helpful and kind. As with most public areas of the Jefferson, the bar and restaurant have wonderful high ceilings and mouldings that create great ambiance and character of the hotel.
The ambiance was beautiful, but the food did not meet my expectations.
Great food and service.
The service and the food were exceptional... highly recommend for any special occasion.
We had a wonderful dinner here. While you are staying at the Jefferson Hotel do have high tea. It's absolutely marvelous.
Quality food and atmosphere
We were there a couple of weeks ago and I have been thinking about the white chocolate cheesecake with peaches and hibiscus ever since! The whole experience was lovely, and are served was such a delight! We hope she has delivered a healthy baby and wish them well!
Much more affordable then I thought, Great food and service and overall experience.
The food and service are among the best of the best. We were a group of 3 couples and no one had any concerns about the food or the service. Absolutely amazing dining experience.
The food was superior in every way. The service was outstansing and Christmas decorations and general ambience was very beautiful. The best restaurant we have ever been to!
Should be 8 stars, it is that great! Do yourself a favor and go there. Worth a trip to Richmond just to see this grand hotel and eat this extraordinary food. I hope to be back soon...
Excellent food and service for our anniversary
Grand location... Instant class... Expensive but expected and sometimes deserved. Food quality can be inconsistent at such lofty level... Still a must visit
Top notch service, top notch food, and top notch atmosphere! Food was incredible as always, oysters melted in my mouth, crab cakes were delicious and snapper was cooked to perfection. Love this place
Have been here a couple times for special occasions and it’s always lovely. Once for an anniversary and once for a milestone birthday for my mother. Everyone is so attentive and the atmosphere is great. The price is actually very reasonable as well.
Ordinarily I don't have high expectations for hotel restaurants but this one is really excellent! The service was great but the food was even better! They had just switched to a new menu that day and the items we had were well-crafted and delicious. This is upscale dining that exceeded my expectations! We tried some of the local wine which was also quite good.
Great food, cocktails disappointing. Staff was a little thin due to snow so it could have been that.
Fantastic for an anniversary dinner!
Awesome!!! Too pricey only fault.
Excellent service and food was very good. The salmon was phenomenal. The honey pot dessert was delicious.
Great experience, excellent food, wine, and service staff.
The five star restaurant in the five star Jefferson Hotel. Sumptuous quality, beauty!
Very good cuisine! Loved the filet and oyster appetizer!
Really good meal and the service is outstanding. We both had fish, salmon and rockfish. Both were properly cooked and flavorful. Sides were excellent. The dining room we were in was away from the bar and quiet, perfect for conversation.
Fantastic ambiance, service, drinks & food. We love grabbing a cozy corner lounge for happy hour or after dinner drinks. I am tempted to subtract a star for removing the fried pickles from the menu!
I love this place so much, specially if I'm craving for american food and late night snacks this is just a perfect place to be with, I have been here for a couple of time and really enjoy the service and food..
Part of our stellar Christmastime "getaway" to Richmond. The hosting hotel, The Jefferson, was "Christmas Neverland" with beautiful seasonal decorations...it is one of the preferred hotels in the South. Lemarie is upscale elegant dining and the food is matched by the ambiance and for those that "imbibe" their bar area is a reflection of a great dinner venue and a grand hotel! Think "Beverly Wiltshire" on the East Coast...
Great dining experience
