Great food- even if there was seriously distant service. We bizarrely felt unwelcome and disposable with a 99% empty restaurant. I get that cultures are different, but this was painful. Having said that- the food is super authentic and delicious. A true Ma and Pop joint with authentic Korean food, decor, and energy. We will return- hopefully on a better “mood” night.

Delicious bulgogi, kimchi, and dumplings. Quiet little hidden gem along Hwy 1 just a few miles from Fort Belvoir. Prices are reasonable, service was quick, and the owners are very nice.

I do not recommend eating here. They are racist. I was barely greeted. No hello AT ALL. No one was even there when it comes to customers but yet the lady made an issue about where I chose to park in the EMPTY LOT. I left. No place like this deserves money.

The good, the bad, and the ugly: The good- food was excellent, good quality, nice flavor, decent portions. The bad- waitress was a bit rude, also had a significant language barrier that caused some misunderstanding. The ugly- although I really was very hungry and enjoying my food, we spotted a roach, and I couldn't eat another bite. When I first got there, I was sure I'd visit again because of the flavor of the food, but the service leaves much to be desired, and roaches are a deal breaker.

I hopped out of my car after dealing with abysmal Route 1 Alexandria traffic and entered some corner dive in Seoul Korea. The staff was welcoming, the decor teleported me 7,000 miles away, and the food? Well I've been ordering pickup every other Friday for 3 years. Which reminds me I need to go pickup my order.

We were a starving family of 6 and dropped in to this place to eat, not knowing what to expect. Wow!! The food was fantastic (all 4 of my kids found something they loved) and the service couldn’t have been better. They were kind and thoughtful to our family. This place is a gem. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

My girlfriend's dad loves this place and it was actually the first Korean food I ever had. I've been to Kimchi House 4 times total and have loved it each time- really nice people, very relaxing and fun setup, and a diverse menu. Even if you order the same thing each time you're there it's a little different each time. I also like how if you order a "spicy" dish they'll ask if you'd like it mild instead, it's really like you're eating at home. I think they grow a lot of their ingredients on-site at the restaurant but don't quote me on that. It certainly tastes like they do! I guess the bulgogi is their flagship dish but I always dig into the seafood, it's very authentic and sensory. And of course the kimchi.

I was on my way to my doctor's office and drive by this cute little Korean Restaurant. After my appointment, I decided to have dinner here before heading home. It was an early dinner, at 4-ish p.m., and there was another couple dining there. The waitress stared at me when I walked in. I guess she expected more than me dining together. I told her "1" and she seated me at a table. She didn't say much and there is no expression on her face. I am used to being greeted with a friendly smile at restaurants. It could be a cultural thing or a language barrier. The menu was simple with a small selection of items. I ordered the fried dumplings and #11 beef, veggies and fried egg. Everything was delicious. I liked it. As for utensils, I got a pair of disposable wooden chopsticks - the kind that I have to split apart. I expected reusable chopsticks since I am having dinner in a restaurant. The silver spoon I got had a small particle of food dried on to it. I also was given 1 square shaped napkin - one that I can get a rectangle stack at the grocery store. During my meal, she checked on me once, and refilled my water. She rarely spoke to me. When I was almost done, she dropped off the bill which was written on a small notepad paper. Interesting. She did say bye to me when I was leaving. Overall, I liked the food, wish I had better quality chopsticks and napkins, and friendly smiley service. I will probably come back again, and try something else on the menu.. like the Ox tail soup with noodles and sliced beef - the last item on the menu. That sounds yummy. Their prices are very reasonable for the area. I am very pleased with the food.

Normally at a Korean restaurant, you have to call for the waiter when you're ready to order or you can just sit there like an idiot and leave. Food here is great and the old ladies are really kind, especially if you can speak the language.

Great lunch spot for authentic Korean dishes. The locals recommended this place. It's right off the busy Richmond Highway road and you can't miss the bright yellow Kimchi House sign. We ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap. It was delicious! You get the hot clay pot that makes the rice at the bottom crunchy. It comes a bit dry with vegetables and meat, but with the added Banchan and the Ssamjang spicy sauce you'll get rid of the dry texture. We ordered our food and it came to our table in less than 10 minutes. My only complaint is the Bibimbap is a bit pricey. $12 for some rice, vegetables and meat is a little high it should be closed to $9. There's plenty of parking in the front and great for families with all the large party seating. If your in the Alexandria area and you don't want to drive to Annandale for Korean food this is the spot. I'll be back to try their BBQ.

The food is very good and authentically Korean. But don't expect polite or prompt service. They are kurt and not friendly...which in my experience is also authentically Korean. They're quick to seat you and the food comes quickly, but that's where it stops. Definitely come here though! If you're wanting excellent Korean food, this is your place.

spent 18 months in Korea while in the army and truly appreciate the food. was glad to see a restaurant that prepared what I missed, but while consuming a dish, a cockroach was in my food and I haven't eaten their since and I ate there regularly, truly dissappointed.

Christmas decorations hung year round. This cozy little Korean restaurants serves mediocre Korean-style food... authentic? Not so much. The kim chi served with the meal wasn't the best I have ever had, but the Katsu Don was decent. I haven't tried any other Korean restaurants in the area, yet. If you are looking for a Korean food fix and live in the area, it might be worth a try.

My first babysitter growing up, behind the now Costco, was Korean and she fed me homemade Korean delectable fare. So much so, I became particular about it, and I have been frequenting Northern Virginia legends in Korean restaurants since I started driving. This little gem on the highway is comfort food just up the street from my childhood home and dad's. Everytime I am in town from the mountains where I live, I stop in. I wish they had been there when I was growing up in Woodlawn.

I have to be frank, that the food there tastes really good. Stopped at the exact location two times just a year apart, almost randomly but I felt happy the second time I stopped by. Please be patient to the ladies who serve you, they may not look very friendly but I think they truly want the customer to enjoy the food. They can be impatient sometimes, which I would give them an extra star if they are willing to be more patient when communication is not as smooth. I will try to remember taking a picture of the food that I order and post it next time I'm there.

Went on Thursday night and it was extremely empty. However, the food was really good. We all ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap. The vegetavles and meat were good and the sauce was tasty and appropriately spicy. Service was fast.

I disagree with everyone that said the food was excellent, it was ok at best. I had the wings and chicken bibimpap, both were extremely salty and lacked much seasoning beyond salt. There was no sesame oil or other flavors that are usually present in Korean cuisine. Wasn’t impressed by any of the kimchi options, they all had a “store bought “ taste. The hot sauce was expired, when I pointed it out to the waitress she said she only used the bottle to refill but the hot sauce appeared discolored and i was not in the mood to chance it. This was extremely confusing to me given the place is named “kimchi house”. Last, as others have pointed out, the service is extremely poor. The lady was really short and unpleasant. Water was never refilled and it took forever just to get the bill. She remained behind the counter instead of walking around to check on guests. I used to live in Korea so I’m not just a random American that has no real concept of Korean food just looking to try the food. I won’t be returning, and now have to go look for something sweet to counter all the salt I consumed.

Very disappointed. Don't get me wrong...the food is excellent! I've been a patron there for years. My problem is that me and my family were told to keep quiet after we were a little loud for TWO minutes. We obliged and were quiet. Not even 5 minutes later, there were people at a different table being louder than we were for a lot longer and they were told NOTHING! I'm not going to get into race because I think that's obvious. What makes me sad and breaks my heart is the lack of humanity shown to us even after years of patronizing that establishment. It honestly wasn't until me and my family paid hundreds of dollars to eat there that the owners really valued us. Customer service should be for EVERY CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!!! I shouldn't have to be extra nice to get served decently. I should get served decently regardless! Especially since I'm spending my hard earned money in that business. It really is sad and disappointing that me and my family have been made to feel unwanted in a place that we have patronized for years. Best believe...this will be the last time we will patronize the Kimchi House in Alexandria, Va.

After all these years, I am coming home when I walk to this place. My son 5 loves the dumpling soup which is delicious! Everything is fresh and flavored and exquisite and made o perfection by the little ladies :) The place is wonderful and authentic and perfect for a retreat from the city. Don't stick to only what you know , try different things of the menu, you will be delightfully surprised. I promise!
