This Restaurant is included in the category of Salvadoran restaurant.
Very tasty, very good value & we will return to eat there. A very casual setting.
The chicken and the pupusas are awesome
Great day to eat after a hard day's work.... Thanks so much for the meal Tell next time
Great food. Good price. Amazing service.
Great Mexican/Salvadoran food, friendly service, good prices. Nice salsa bar. We always visit when we are in town.
The pupusas and Peruvian rotisserie chicken are excellent, but best of all are the sopes. Get them with carnitas or the rotisserie chicken.
Food was so good and the waitstaff were professional and attentive.
Delicious!
The food is good just a for great prices are fare
Yummy food and great atmosphere
Best Papusas, chicken, and tacos
Very tasty food, and friendly waitress. We ordered pupusas and mixes saltado, both very delicious.
Great local spot, and the only authentic Salvadoran restaurant in town as far as I know. Very fresh and delicious food!
The handmade corn tortillas are amazing and they are gluten free!
Food was amazing!
Nice people, good food when we stay at Kinsgate we walk over there for either a beer and appetizers or a meal.
Excelent latin cuisine Restaurant. If you willing to wait for it because service is slow. Tasty and delicious, like grandma's cook. Offer a great selection of dishes in a well elaborated Menu. We came to visit from Richmond and for sure we'll be back.
I grabbed a half chicken with 2 sides of plantains for carryout. Food was done exactly when they said it would be ready. It was delicious and great portion for price!
There's a small Latin American convienence store connected to the side of the restaurant, but it's not overly noticeable thanks to a smooth transition between the two establishments. The apusas were certifiably awesome, as was the fried yuca appetizer, and the customer service is good (although basic conversational Spanish may be needed to order). An overall great place to come for authentic Peruvian food.
Had late lunch here and must say we were impressed. Food was delicious, grilled chicken breast was flavorful and tender, the rotisserie chicken was seasoned to perfection and the plantains were oh so delicious. The staff was pretty good but has room for improvement. Oh and be sure to ask for the Tres Leches shake. You won't be disappointed.
Ate the lunch buffet here last Thursday and it was fantastic. There was a good variety and everything was fresh. It was great to have pupusas available too since they are not a very common menu item. We'll definitely be back to try their rotisserie chicken next time.
Great pupusas and delicious fried plaintains!
Absolutely delicious food. We had an assortment of food: Guacamole, chicharron, tilapia, yucca, plantains, and chicken with red beans and rice. Everything tasted so fresh and was prepared perfectly. Nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend!
The food here is fantastic! The pleasant bilingual waiter served us a blend of Latin American and Peruvian traditional foods. Hearing the Spanish being spoken by the family at the neighboring table and the soccer game on the television enhanced the sense of being transported somewhere else while we ate. When we finished several of my party checked out the connected market and ate pleased to find a well stocked South American store that even sold packages of sweet breads made on site. I recommend going to the restaurant hungry and not visiting the store until you've eaten because you will probably buy enough anyway.
The food was awesome but the staff was okay. I was afraid one of their waitresses... Maybe she was just having a bad day (And I'm Latina too) however the food was on time and delicious.
The food here was incredible! I literally think it was the best piece of chicken I've ever eaten in my life- and there is a store connected that sells those specialty Spanish food and candies you can't find in the regular stores here! This will def be my new fave place to eat!
Everything was amazing! Food, drinks, chips and salsa-it all was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and our food was brought out quickly. In the mean time we were given several baskets of chips and salsa that were super good. The salsa bar had a great selection, was fun to try a couple different kinds!
Sorry, but the food is not good and their margaritas are disgusting. I’m from Los Angeles and the food is super bland and the margaritas are even worse. They are watered down with cheap orange juice....Tampico juice maybe? Expensive too. Wouldn’t return or recommend this place.
Trash
I stopped in for the lunch buffet and it was great! Great value and good food. I typically only get the rotisserie chicken but it was a good opportunity to try out some other food. The staff is very friendly and efficient. A great place to go for a quick lunch. Will definitely be back in the future!
First time and loved it. The Peruvian chicken and the pupusas are amazing. We will definitely be back!
It was ok. I didn't enjoy my food much though.
Everything is fresh and I don't believe any of their food comes out of a plastic bag very friendly waitresses made us feel like we are at home
A BUNCH OF THIEVES!!!! My brother left his glasses (which he needs to see because he’s legally blind) at the table and forgot about them. We called right after and talked to the manager and they told us that they didn’t find them. We come again to eat when to our surprise the SAME WAITER that was serving us that day my brother forgot his glasses, was WEARING MY BROTHERS GLASSES!!! He started getting uneasy when he recognized us and took them off. We tried talking to the manager and NOTHING. The manager doesn’t even call him over to ask him in front of us. WHO STEALS FROM A LEGALLY BLIND PERSON?! Never again are we eating there when we have to worry about the thieves who steal from the customers. Don’t waste your time.
The food is just ok
Very tasty Latin food for good prices. I highly recommend their guacamole and the carne asada fajita burrito! Their servers speak good English, as well
Was there with family. Almost 30 min wait for food and then they forget to cook my order! When I said, just NVM, waitress was like oh okay. No apologies, won't go back.
This place was soo good. The food was fantastic and the Margaritas JUMBO! Great prices. We will be back!
Was a good dining experince
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg. Everything on the menu is absolutely perfect, and the service is stellar. I highly recommend the fried plantains and pupusas!
Good food, very comfortable prices, cordial, friendly service but not too prompt
They are Always very nice here :)
Great food / Great customer service
They have amazing pupusas and really good chicken but service can be a little slow at times.
Great food. Not your typical "Mexican" restaurant. They have a great variety of food, you may discover a new favorite. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Very good lunch buffet! Very friendly staff!
Great food whether you are looking for TexMex or real authentic food. Good variety of food. Food is delicious! Service is great! Prices are resonable. We ended up going two days in a row. We will be visiting this place again!
Good food
Great food. Sunday happy hour all day
We come to Williamsburg every year for spring break and three years ago we decided to come here on a whim since it was near our hotel and had vegetarian options. We were immediately shocked by how delicious the guacamole was and it’s the main reason why we come back here every year at least once or twice during our trip. The service is great, our server Jackie was super nice and accommodating. I always get the vegetarian burrito. Everything is delicious, flavorful, reasonably priced. If you enjoy this type of cuisine you need to dine here! You’ll never look at store bought guacamole or Chipotle the same ever again. We talk about this place constantly and look forward to the one time a year we get to eat here. Definitely recommend to all travelers.
The food was very good had the steak and chicken with rice not to spicy. The price was very low , the place was empty when we got there but full buy the time we left . The dessert was very sweet awesome. We will be back
I went here with a old friend it was delicious
Excellent fajitas
Delicious food.
Wow, delicious papusas and Al pastor tacos
1st of all what was in their pictures was not what they had at there bars when we got there the bars were almost completely empty they had very little food out some of it was burnt, they had taco shells but no meat to make tacos the food was bland had no flavor the pictures that are posted online that show all this good food are not what is inside the restaurant no tamales, alot of the food was cold, they charged 4.99 for a 3 yr old as well as 2.19 for his drink. Outrageous!!! We will definitely not be returning to this place!!!
Good food.
Hands down best papusa I have ever had! Me and my wife try papusas every time we can find them and now sadly I have found my favorite ones but it's 2 and half hours from home lol WORTH IT!!!
Food was good but not my favorite
Good food and the service really good
Great drinks
After getting our drinks and placing our order. We had to wait over an hour to get our food. Besides that the food was not hot. Don't go eat here, everything takes too long.
Terrible service by restaurant manager Melba and Food quality varies by cook, store overpriced; watch out for old & expired items. The manager, Melba, thinks she is doing you a favor and you should be thankful to her for selling you Latín food as if it is your only option. I have been overcharged by her on several occasions. There is another manager who is much better but this Melba manager undermines the word and promise of other managers. Bad business!!! Ultimately , there are too many great restaurants to put up with bad customer service and hope the better personnel is there every time. I used to take large groups but No more of my business.
the food was so delicious and everything is fairly priced. I highly recommend their guacamole, it is fresh and so good. They also have a buffet from 11am. First time in williamsburg and will definitely come back to this restaurant next time.
Great food, buffet at lunch gets too busy and often out of food
Authentic and delicious! The pupusas are spot-on and love the Yucca con Chicharron appetizer. They also have some amazing cocktails ... highly recommend both the Pisco sour style drinks and the spicy mango margarita. Honestly, I'd trust any dish they do at this place ... massive menu! ... but we specifically go for the pupusas. Definitely the best latin food I've had on the peninsula so far. Cute little place, don't be turned away by the strip-mall location ... and make sure to check out the attached latin grocery for some take-home goodies.
Food was good, service not so great...server at the bar was a very unpleasant guy. Ordered to go, when my food came he simply said "here".
Glad this is here. Only Peruvian food place near Newport News. Coming from the DMV I love Peruvian food
Honestly one of the best restaurants in Williamsburg which is saying a lot.
The service and food were great! It's a casual dining environment. Strongly recommend the Peruvian Chicken. We will definitely be going back.
Pollo a la Brasa and Plantains were excellent!
Love this place kind of over priced on a few items but great service and great food! Also I have to add that this place is authentic if that's what your looking for this is one of the best places to eat...there is only two Spanish places my husband and I will eat! This being one of them...
Good food! Good service! Good for families with kids! We'll visit again
¡QUE SABROSO! Delicious, tasty food from South America - not typical US Mexican food. Great mix of Salvadorean and Peruvian - from pupusas and chicherones to tostones, tortas, and rotisserie Peruvian chicken. The restaurant also has a "make your own salsa" bar. Price options are great and most of all, the staff are excellent. Everyone should try El Sabroson!
Really love the service and the food was good
They don't advertise their lunch menu but they have one. Food was better when they 1st opened. Just ok now, manager very nice
The food here was fantastic! We had the fried yucca and chicharon- wow! I've had it in other places, but this one has been the best! We also had the papusas... also the best we've had. This place is a hidden gem... Can't wait to come back to the area just to eat here!
They keep it cultivated very well.
Nice quite place that had a great selection of food.
2nd time here, first experience, took them a lot of time to bring my food...a lot! This time I have 5 mins... I am tracking time, 5 minutes with an almost empty restaurant, 1 other customer and 3 waitress here and so far no one haven't even address me... I am walking out as I post this... horrible customer service.
We were passing through Williamsburg, spent the night at Embassy Suites. This Restaurant is next door, the staff is friendly and helpful, the restaurant is spacious. The food portion is huge and very filling.
Looks are deceiving the place looks small from the outside.once inside the place feels comfortable and authentic and then you are hit with a array of Aromas ..smelling some good home cooking. Main dish was excellent . desert was great too service was excellent .the only con was the fountain soda .stay away get canned or a Malta. Great place chicken is awesome..thanks will come again almost forgot the most important part was the puposas the best I ever had ..
Good food, nice people. The meal came out very staggered which has not been the case in the past.
BEST FOOD AND SERVICE! Trust me, go to this place, the food is delicious. Margaritas are great, and the prices are good too. Went back again, 8/23/15. The food is FANTASTIC, and the best margaritas too. The staff is so pleasant. LOVE THIS PLACE!
Pretty good Mexican place!! Nice staff and pretty quick. Great option when your itching for Mexican cuisine!
Wait was WAY too long. Did not enjoy waiting 45 minutes for tacos.
It's a great place to visit if you're in the mood for Hispanic food
This was our first visit and Jackie was the guide on our journey through the menu. She advised us on all facets of our meal(sauces to compliment different dishes, etc.). In all the service was excellent. The food was amazing. My wife and I ordered different dishes to share and we're so happy that we did. The chicken is phenomenal, as was the rice and red beans. This meal was a great experience and we look forward to our next visit.
What a pleasant surprise. When traveling we try staying away from chain restaurants. El Sabrosan fit the bill. You have to try their pupusas and Peruvian charcoal chicken. Jacquelyn took care of us and was a pleasure.
Lovely place. Not mediocre like most Williamsburg restaurants. Very good food!
Food is always really good every time we go, however it seems like a few of the staff have attitude problems. The last three times we’ve gone, we’ve had rude service from one of the waitresses and a gentleman that has rung us up. Unfortunately this is enough to keep us from returning since we feel like we are in wanted.
Very tasty Peruvian food. Try the pupusas, plantains, and half chicken all are delicious!
Amazing food. Get the pupussas or tortas and you can't be disappointed.
Good food,friendly staff,good prices
Outstanding food and wait staff. Also great coffee and desert options.
I'm Salvadoran, and this is the best (if only) Salvadoran food around. The pupusas are great. They also have horchata, which is amazing and hard to come by at Mexican restaurants. In the attached tienda you can buy plenty of Salvadoran and Latino foods to take home and cook for yourself.
Horrible food with no taste, it's falsely advertised as a Latin American restaurant but it's 99% Mexican food
A must go too .. Very unexpected and extremely delicious..
Very good food.
Fun experience!
Love this place! I'm allergic to gluten, and this place went above and beyond to accommodate me. The chips they were serving with their salsa were flour but they brought me my own basket of corn chips and salsa. A manager also made a point to clarify with me what my allergies are to make sure I didn't have any issues. The carnita tacos were delicious, and I loved the salsa bar!
Good food, nice service, few tourists. The roasted chicken is really great!
Food was excellent and reasonable priced. Went with 4 kids and they were very accommodating and friendly. We all ate way too much and still had leftovers for the next day. At an average of $11/person, it was a better deal than fast food and much better for everyone. Highly recommend for budget conscious travelers who still want quality food...which should be everybody.
Have you tried their buffet lately? The food is so flavorful! Best deal in town and the yummiest food around.
Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! Jacquelyn provided us great customer service as soon as we walked in. She helped provide recommendations and answered every special request that we had. They have a great menu with many options. I had the steak and shrimp fajitas which were delicious. My grandma ordered the fried ice cream, and she loved it.
Good food and a nice spot for lunch. One of the few places that carry pupusas too!
Great food! Large selection of Latin food.
Excellent authentic food where the local Latino folks dine. Family friendly. Extra large portions for very reasonable prices. Ask for Jackie.
Best authentic mexican restaurant in Williamsburg.
Actual Mexico and central American flavors! Papusas were fantastic!
Very good service and good food
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Very clean and friendly. This is a must try if you have not been.
There pupusas are very good
Great food and authentic Latin cuisine. Definitely going back again.
Top tier food
Excellent. Lamb with amazing flavor and rice with so many hints of Persian cuisine. Staff were phenomenal. Wine list perfect. Just visit and enjoy.
Good food, great buffet
It sucked, this is not authentic Latin food. The steak didn’t have any seasoning and what they charge for the quality and quantity you get, you’re better going to Jose Tequila.
Salsa is fresh and fantastic!! Love love love
The food, was great. Great
Pound for Pound the best Central or South American cuisine in town. Always fresh, amazing flavors and spices, and the dishes are such unique and special combinations not found outside Salvadorean and Peruvian cooking - try the Saltados! The drinks and "Classico's" are phenomenal as well, wonderful wait and bar staff, always left wanting to return!
This place had no selection
The buffet needs more variety and the staff needs more improvements..
Nice convenient store.. In a good location. I went in to play lottery. The store has a lot of items to choose from. The clerk was very nice! .
Absolutely love this place! Great Salvadoran and a few Peruvian favorites, too. The pupusas and yuca are deliciosas! The usual Mexican fare is tasty too, but also good options for the more adventuresome diners. Wait staff is always pleasant, Suzy is great! Not the fastest place, but always nice to hang out.
Excellent food but best of all, excellent people and customer service!! Flawless, gracias!!!
Real central American cuisine. Very friendly service. Great, simple place.
The food is good, but it does take a long time . Not the place to go if you are short on time
Much More flavor than plaza or 3amigos. The sign is misleading though. It's just traditional Mexican food.
So walked in got seated right away on Friday night. We ordered a drink the dark and storm and la playa. The server had no idea that these were on the menu. Being someone that has served I thought ok new sever. We order our meals which came out pretty fast. Towards the end meal we covered with fruit flies. Ok I deal the it’s the end of the meal. We get the check. 30 minutes later we tracked down the server to retrieve are credit card.
The food is wonderful, I've never order anything I didn't like. The papusas are the best you can get locally in the Hampton roads!
Pupusas!
Unfortunately, we were not impressed with this place at all. We were really looking forward to the food here, but we were really disappointed. The food in my opinion is high on prices for what they bring out to the table. Quality is something very important when it comes to food. The food was good, but that's about it. The service was okay and the environment was not welcoming. I noticed that this place was one of the 2016 Virginia Gazette winners. What happened to all that vibe and amazing atmosphere? I'd say go back and review what's going on. I'm pretty sure I won't be hearing about this place anytime soon.
Food was excellent and the service was very friendly and make sure that we had everything that we needed and wanted I will definitely be coming back and recommending to my friends
Great service Watched a world cup game with family
Terrific! Very authentic, with great service and generous helpings. Everything was delicious. There were several salsas to choose from, and bottomless chips. The frozen margaritas were huge.
Best Mexican food ever
This is somewhere we keep returning to for authentic Salvadoran food. (They even branch into a bit of Mexican as well.) It's really got amazing food, and it reminds me a lot of living south of the border. Haven't eaten "IN" the restaurant but our carry out has always been fabulous!
Good food! Great service! Reasonable price! A must try!
Great mix of Central and South American food, great prices and really nice people
The food is amazing! Sometimes the service can be a little touchy but when it's good it's great
This place is fabulous. Not only is the food outstanding and the prices extremely reasonable, but the service and atmosphere is delightful. In almost half a dozen visits, our parties have tried at least twenty things on the menu and there has not been a disappointing dish in the bunch. Excellent Hispanic mart attached to the restaurant.
So, this was a quick pick of where to eat after a long day at the water park. Going through the go Williamsburg magazine, we decided to try this place, we love Latin food and this place did not disappoint one bit. The food, the service, the atmosphere, all of it was exceptional. We are so pleased that we ate here and will definitely come back any time we are in the area. 5 stars to say the least.
Fabulous
Unique food, very tasty! The chips with the salsa were usual, but everything else had a latino spin. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced and ample portions.
We went for Happy Hour on Sunday and the food and drinks were amazing. Monday - Friday they have a buffet that is fantastic too.
Very good food
So far, I've only been here once, but we had a great time. The food was good, and so was the alcohol. I had the Coco Loco drink, and it was awesome (picture attached). As a bonus, the prices were very reasonable. The waiter took a little too long getting us the bill/boxes at the end of the meal, but other than that I have no complaints. I enjoyed myself and plan on going back to try more of their food in the future.
Excellent blend of Latin American food. Salvadoran, Mexican and Peruvian food available. Their Peruvian chicken is wonderful. The also have a great selection of Latin American beers.
Delicious vegetarian burrito, tasty cocktails (Try the Paloma) and friendly and attentive staff!
Decent Latin American food, salads are so so, frozen margarita was great. Overall good place
Love this Mexican restaurant! The service there is amazing!! The food, amazing!
Excellent food and service. Was hoping to find some cuy on the menu but it is an elusive dish Only complaint I had and it is minor - went near closing time and the chemical used to clean the floor had a strong odor Will return next time I am in the area.
Pupusas were DELICIOUS! I got the chicken and cheese and the shredded chicken had so much flavor. My husband had the tacos al pastor and loved them as well. Food was hot and fresh. Was definitely worth the hour drive. Will be coming back to this little gem whenever we need our fix.
I want to go ahead and state that I am very impartial in regards of this review . Arrived at the place on a Friday night , so the place was very busy. As we sat down we were greeted with slight delay and after a couple of minutes sat down . We ordered our drinks , then waited around 10 minutes to order our food . We waited and waited . We waited so long that we, as a group of 5 man were able to eat a total of 7 full chip baskets . After the last basket of chips was reaching its final hours , we finally received our meal . It had been an hour and thirty minutes and we finally got our meal. It felt as they were killing the chicken and butchering the cow in the back of the restaurant because of how long we waited. As we got our food the food was not extraordinary, it was missing flavor , or maybe the long anticipation let us loose taste on our meal . One of the guys in the group also found an eggshell in his beans resulting in him just not finishing his food at all. We ordered a margarita, and it was not worth the price as it tasted more of juice than alcohol. Would not recommend this place to anybody I like, maybe if you are really craving Mexican food you could order an hour ahead so you only have to wait a little for your meal . Also want to state that if you are not hungry, you are at least strong a good portion of chips to down while you wait .
We ate lunch. The chicken is fantastic! Everything my wife and I had was very good. Our server Jackie was very friendly. We will definitely be back.
We visiting Williamsburg for first time and we visit EL SABROSON the food and service excelent! Jackie was our waitress very nice! I recomend el SABROSON to anyone!!!
