One of my favorite go to places for a croissant and light breakfast with a friend. I Really enjoy the food, croissants cannot be beat, a little tiny bit pricey but it’s Del Ray you have to expect that. The last time I was here I had the salmon eggs Benedict, it was delicious and generous portions. Will certainly be back..
Absolutely wonderful. The perfect brunch, no exaggeration. Great gluten free options, memorable service. Definitely recommend.
!What a great place! Food and staff are excellent!
Fabulous omelette, fruit, greens, and mini croissant!
I'm absolutely amazed by the quality of the food in this restaurant! EVERYTHING was excellent, top notch cuisine. Please try the French onion soup, and the hanger steak has been the best I've tasted in the Northern Virginia area. I will definitely be back to this place. Simply amazing food and service.
A home converted into a nice local cafe, they pride themselves on using all local vendors and food sources. My friend had the lobster eggs benedict, yes you read that correctly lobster!! She really enjoyed it with one of their homemade chocolate croissants as a starter. I not being of the fancy palate made my own tasty omelet of eggs, bacon, jalapeños and goat cheese. The menu has a ton of organic selections and combinations. Already have thoughts of returning soon.
Great food, absolutely fantastic. You should go here. What are you doing still reading this? Go get delicious food. Seriously, stop reading this.
WOW! What a charming and authentic French treat. We were immediately greeted by the host when we walked in. Cute location with organic, flavorful food. Friendly staff and vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. Varied and healthy kids menu. I will definitely stop by here again!
Went with the family, and my kids said it’s the best pancake place ever!
Every time I come: it’s the best meal I’ve ever had. The food is AMAZING. The servers know all the food on the menu and describe it in delicious detail. I have food restrictions and they were very accommodating. I have to eat gluten free and even the menu is very clear on what is safe. We enjoyed everything from the service to the drinks and ESPECIALLY the food. Perfect place for special occasions or to bring your parents when they visit. Will definitely be going back!
What a great cafe in a cute neighborhood full of personality. So welcome and inviting! The rotisserie chicken salad with homemade mayonnaise, grapes and walnuts was served open faced on fresh bread with some salad greens. Mmmm.
Good food, not too expensive. Definitely make reservations
The atmosphere is great, the food was really good. Very friendly staff as well.
Was a bit taken back by limited menu, we were going to leave but stayed. My wife had the soft crab dinner and I had the boulliubas. Both were good. The crem boulee was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Don't know if we will return, tho. Also made a reservation on Open Table which was confirmed. The restaurant had no record of it.
Good service and good food. A friend suggested to go to this place and it turned out to be a good lunch experience. The omelettes and quiche are awesome.
Always delicious and great service!
Had a wonderful meal last night at Del Ray Cafe'. Everyone in our party of 4 enjoyed their meal and felt our service was spot on. We tried both the Restaurant week menu and regular dinner menu. We recommend the Oysters and the Shrimp (heads are cooked on for full flavor) for apps. My husband loved his Scallop dish and my Steak was cooked to a perfect Medium Rare as requested. We will definitely return and highly recommend.
Such a cute place with such wonderful character! Very unique. We will be back
Oh man this place is great. Had brunch special...lobster Benedict and it was fabulous. Will make reservations in the future...wait was loooooooong.
A great place to have dinner. The food is always above par and the service is also very good. If you want to try a neighborhood place this I s where you should go.
Ingredients were fresh and server was attentive and helpful. A great place for brunch in del ray area. We ordered ommletts, french toast and fresh orange juice, and were happy with the the food. There were lots of people waiting but luckily we got there fairly early (before 10am on Sunday) so did not have to wait too long. Planty of street parking was available when we got there but filled up when we left the restaurant.
Visited with my husband's company event. Delicious selection of finger foods, consistent in flavor, friendly efficient service, delightful cocktails and beer selection. Made a perfect setting for meeting my husband's coworkers. Definitely checking it out again soon.
I came here for restaurant week. It was good. Honestly, I thought the escargot was very good. Creme brulee is huge. Great portion there- you can definitely share that. The 7 oz steak was good as well, but nothing to be remembered. The restaurant is in a cute house in Del Rey area of Alexandria.
First visit; definitely won't be my last. Stopped by for Saturday breakfast. We ordered the 2 egg omelet with feta cheese and avocado and 2 egg omelet with smoked Scottish salmon. Omlett plates come with a little side salad, a just-freshly- baked mini croissant and a side fruit salad + coffee (as many free refills as you need). Everything was superb and fresh, the coffee was fresh n hot. My omelet was well cooked just as I had ordered ( something I often struggle with in most restaurants). The service is very friendly and super fast though the place was packed. The superb food & service, sun pouring in from the big windows and French music playing in the background make this place the perfect start for a weekend. Highly recommended.
Nice neighborhood eatery with a super attentive and friendly staff. Almost everything my party ordered was excellent and delicious. One order, the veggie hash, missed the mark. The veggies were tasteless, almost as if the chef forgot to salt them. I’ll come back though because they were so nice and accommodating about everything.
A local here, and this, by far, is the best brunch experience in Del Ray. The food was absolutely delicious (the croissants and omelettes are a must-try). And the service is unparalleled - the servers are friendly and accommodating! I'll definitely return.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff and service was amazing. The prices are such that I could only afford it as a special occasion, but I would love to eat here daily.
Awesome food and great service!
I love this little cafe! The salads are wonderful and fresh-we especially love the beet salad. Brunch has a ton of options-the omelettes alone have endless combinations and if you are a crepe lover they even have buckwheat crepes. They are very accommodating with my food allergies, with a menu well marked for gluten-free options. I particularly appreciate that the owner hand-picks his fish selections so it is always fresh and they serve grass fed meats. Our family has had many meals at Del Ray Cafe over the years, have sent many friends, and will continue to enjoy going!
Love this restaurant. We have been for dinner 3 times and love even more each time. The ambiance (cutlery, tables and chairs etc) is rustic/ diner like and doesn’t necessarily match the menu but that’s okay since everything else is great. The staff here is very nice and attentive. We definitely need to try breakfast here soon.
Favorite dishes: the French toast, all of the desserts, the lobster Benedict is unbelievable and you get lots of lobster!, the steak. I love that I get the same server every time I go and she remembers me. It’s a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. I’ve had brunch and dinner there. While dinner was good, brunch is definitely my favorite from here
Very quaint. The food is authentic and delicious with generous portions. Service was great. We had a great family birthday celebration. Happy Birthday Yuri!
Always a great experience, from the staff to the food to the wine. Most recent trip, four for brunch, no reservation. Sat us within 20 minutes. Specials were on point, as usual. Our waiter was attentive but not the least bit pushy. Can't wait to be back in the area to go again
Great food and classic Del Rey service. Bring your wallet and your taste buds!
Their food was really good.... this is the first time I’m here and i loved this place.... latte was perfect and the omelets were really good .... specially scrambled egg with salmon and baby spinach..... thats my recommendation ..... to anyone ....try this place ... best brunch place around alexandria, VA....
Very pleasant atmosphere, Would recommend
Adorable restaurant with delicious food and excellent service!
We love this place. The bread alone is worth the trip, but the entrees are always well conceived and well prepared. The owner and wait staff are warm and welcoming every time, making it feel like a dinner party at the house of a beloved neighbor. :-)
I've only had brunch, but it's worth the short wait on the weekend. Atmosphere is intimate and the food is delicate and delicious - fresh ingredients treated with care and given a classic french presentation. Don't miss the croissants - with soft Euro butter - and cappuccinos.
Lobster Eggs Benedict at Sunday Brunch is to die for!
The menu was superb. The service was impeccable. The wine was perfectly paired with the meal.
friendly staff. Crepes were some of the best I've had, along with the pancakes.
Beautiful, healthy meals in a charming building. We loved it. C'était délicieux!
Lobster Benedict & ahi tuna salad... so good. Good place in a nice little neighborhood. Would highly recommend it
good food, although a bit pricey. we had the lobster Benedict, fried oyster Benedict ($19.00 each) with two coffees and orange juice. one blood Mary. total bill was $76 not included tip.
If you get a chance to go hear for breakfast or brunch, please plan ahead. The food is really good and it's often packed!
Friendly local venue. The Sunday brunch menu is interesting with plenty of options to suit every taste. I chose an omelette that was cooked perfectly and I was provided with an excellent selection of hot sauces. The French roast coffee is delicious and hot. The staff is friendly and prompt. Service was excellent. We were not rushed.
Friendly service & exceptional food. Their brunch is my favorite. As we exited the restaurant the first time, the hostess even said goodbye to our family using our names which was such a welcome and kind surprise! You're definitely not just another order here!
First time here. So pleasing. From wait staff through meal ..which I finished every morsel
It's a great location for Sunday brunch in a lovely old house in the heart of Del Ray. The menu had lots of options - traditional brunch/breakfast plus sandwiches and other entrees. The coffee was great, the food was delicious, the servers were friendly and efficient. The noise level was high, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
Excellent food and service. The house red blend wine is a real bargain at $16. And the chocolate beignets were a wonderful conclusion to the meal
This place is always great. The setting is so relaxing and the service is some of the best in Alexandria. We always have the same people serving us each time. The server assistants are really good too - always on top of refills, clearing plates, getting extra bread, etc. They interact with you really well too, which is great. We go here mostly for breakfast and today was our first time getting lunch. We’ll be back for lunch again soon!
Delicious brunch! Super nice wait staff. Will definitely come back.
Great scenery , food and service - this place is an experience
French owner was fantastique! Great service, great food, adorable spot. Gluten free buckwheat pancakes were wonderful. Veggie hash was very healthy and came with a great side of pesto.
Holy cow. Sometimes when you walk into a restruant, you know exactly what you’re going to get- maybe you can see the staff arguing, you can see dirty plates, you can’t see the kitchen, when you sit down the plate is dirty, etc. When you walk into Del Rat Cafe, yoy truly know exactly what’s about to happen. In a nice neighborhood, in a beautiful house, you will be greeted by the friendly staff. You can hear the staff making jokes, talking about their lives, and preparing meals. You can see the kitchen immediately when you walk in. Everything is clean. The staff are happy to converse with locals and tourists alike. You feel as though you’re visiting an old friend. I went to Del Ray Cafe on my birthday. In the morning, I had by far the best pancakes I have ever had. I was so amazed by this restruant that I sinply had to return for my dinner. If I was amazed by the breakfast, I was sent to another planet by dinner. I couldn’t stop myself from cleaning my plate, and neither could my family. You can tell that the ingredients are local and natural. The staff joked amongst themselves and with the customers, you could tell that they were enjoying themselves. All in all, it was the best restruant experience I have ever had.
Great food, decent prices, interesting atmosphere. The quiche was much better than anticipated.
Delicious food and waiter was excellent
YES! This place is on my "Go everytime" list. Great food. Great Service and its cute.
Del Ray Cafe is a great little place in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria. The food is very good and the service is too. I like the atmosphere there and it fits right in with the neighborhood. Overall, a great place to go.
Cute cafe in a converted home on the Del Ray strip. Come here for French inspired dishes. Try the burger with a fried egg and garlic fries or the croque madame
You MUST dine here. It is in the cutest location in Alexandria, Virginia (Del Ray). The restaurant is located in a house. The food is seriously some of the best food I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The croissants are so warm and buttery and delicious. The owner is so funny and personable. The staff is friendly and helpful. I went on my birthday and they brought me a little French pastry with a candle in it and "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate. It was very sweet and made me love this place even more.
We had seafood and deserts. It was all delicious. Try their souffle.
Excellent food! Very attentive staff!
This place was amazeballs! Always wanted to try it and happy I did for breakfast. The ambience was cozy, the service was great and the food was excellent! I had the jumbo lump crab meat eggs benedict and wow wow...it was def lump crabmeat! Can't wait to try dinner! Highly recommend!
The food is not too bad, but is overpriced
First time here and no wonder this is one of the most popular spots in town. Brunch was fantastic and everything we ordered were delicious. Croissants were fresh and my vegetarian egg benedict was cooked to perfection. The steak was also fantastic! Will go back here most definitely.
Excellent!!! Just go, you will not be sorry.
Very cute place to go to. I went to brunch with 6 people. There isnt space inside to wait to be seated, so bring a coat if it's cold out. We sat upstairs and had a nice view of the snowfall. The dishes of food looked and tasted great. Our server and his helpers were very attentive and great. I recommend going here. I got the french toast with the fruit stuff. It was delicious. If you are a huge eater then 1 brunch plate might not be big enough. But for a normal eater it's good.
One of the few places open that my son would approve of for our moving day lunch. We did arrive at 10 min. before closing, but were seated with instructions to order quickly and order dessert at same time. Wait staff was good, French music played in background...nice atmosphere. We had lobster Benedict with salad and fresh fruit. For dessert we tried creme brulee and sorbet. All was delightful, especially the croissants served with a mini glass jar of jam. I also had an iced tea. A real treat...$85 for the 3 of us.
Some little places of improvement: the garlic bread was a bit soggy in the interior, as if it was soaked in butter in a french toast sort of way, yet the edges of each slice was crispy, but not necessarily the white surface of the bread. I believe they may have grilled it? but it wasn't evenly crispy all around, probably due to being soaked in fat.
Absolutely love the crepes! Cute little cafe to go and have clean, high quality organic food. Definitely will be going back there again☺️
Love the food. Lobster benedict was really great. French toast was amazing. This place serves the best food. I have not had such great food in a long time.
Wonderful little surprise! Delightful staff and delectable food.
Absolutely a great hidden gem and a decadent experience. We just had a team dinner here for 16 people and we were seated at the upstairs Barn Room. Laurent and his team were truly professional, attentive and personable. He allowed us to personalize the menu and he even put our company logo on the customized menu for our team! He happily worked to accommodate our team's dietary needs and improvised on the spot for additional requests. We had a great time enjoying each other's company in a private environment while still enjoying the bustle of the small restaurant. Would definitely recommend for intimate or lively team dinners of 16 or less! The food was tasty and everything tasted freshly made. You can tell the amount of work that goes into their customer tarte pies, organic vegetables salads, grilled dishes, and French baked desserts. The final touch: this beautiful cozy restaurant makes its own treats for dogs and provides them to homeless dogs that have sometimes wondered near the neighborhood. Being the dog lovers that our team is, he happily gave us dog treats for each to take back to our furry friends.
We were absolutely delighted! The service was impeccable, food was great and altogether a great experience. We even got a small dessert with a candle for our anniversary
Came here tonight for dinner with my wife and 2 yr old son. Amazing meal! I believe Nadir was our server, and the service was as excellent as the food! We started with the snails in garlic, herbs, and butter. My wife had the seared scallops over risotto and I had the duck breast with scalloped potatoes. Our son had pasta with butter and cheese, which was refreshing to see a great restaurant with a kids menu. For dessert it was chocolate mousse and crepe with fresh strawberries and Nutella. Every plate was delicious. We’re from out of state but will def be back next time we’re in town!
After a great long weekend with my brother and sister-n-Law, we had brunch at del rey cafe before I headed back to WV. The best chipped beef gravy I’ve ever eaten. Our server was wonderful and took great care of us. I loved the atmosphere and that the food was all organic. Great place and hope to get back again.
An excellent dining experience. The buckwheat pancakes, veggie quiche and eggs Benedict were delicious. Best quiche we've ever had. Wish they had a location closer to where we live. Highly recommend!
The wait was long and worth it. Best brunch I’ve had in the area, to die for crepes and personal service. I was even sent home with homemade dog treats.
Delicious food! The quiche was great! Note that there is only one size of soup. A big bowl. But it was delicious.
Lovely place with great food and service. And it’s kid friendly!
10 of us had lunch @ Del Ray Cafe today. The room was nice as it was just the size we needed with a couple smaller tables. The service was great and most everyone enjoyed their meal (fish of the day). However, I had the veggie quiche and it was quite terrible. It was about a 3" square (not your normal presentation for quiche), it was extremely dry and the crust was even more dry and tough. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to disrupt everyone's meal, but it was quite lousy. Also, we requested extra bread and was charged $3 for 4 thin slices of bread ~ I don't believe I've ever been charged for extra bread. So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or return. Three stars because the fish was good, as well as the service.
Came for brunch! Very good! Delicious eggs! I hope the menu can extand a little so we can come back for more
Food and service was great. They always use the freshest ingredients. It's a little pricey for breakfast but a good treat every now and then. My wife and I spent $55(including tip) and we only had an omelette, a side of sausage each and one orange juice.
Excellent food and service . We will be back
This place is great. The food has been excellent and consistent over the years that it's been open and the staff and ownership are so friendly. It is kinda casual French but also not inexpensive compared to other places in the immediate vicinity.
Had an amazing breakfast here! Food and drinks came quickly and the staff were all very friendly! I will definitely visit again!
