On a school trip and stopped at Union Station for lunch. I had the Caribbean Mango salad and seriously, it was so delicious. Others in our group had different salads, tacos and everything was fresh and very good. The people were very friendly too. I wish we had one of these restaurants in South Carolina!

It was good, I'd like to give it 3.5 stars. The service was great. But the burrito was so big it was almost impossible to eat like a burrito. Ended up falling apart in my hands. The drink machine was out of nearly half of the options too.

Food isn't bad, good selection of hot sauces but the place needs a thorough cleaning. The walls, sauce bottles and floor just looked filthy. If you sit by the enclosed wall cases of hot sauce avoid looking at the wall, it covered with smears of food.

I went into this restaurant as a last result because my hubby & I didn't know exactly what we wanted. Now we had California Tortilla at other locations & figured this one should be a good quick bite to eat. However, when we entered the location and the cashier was taking our order, we noticed an older woman with gloves on looking over the adult male's shoulder while taking our order and then she began to cough continuously while sipping a light green beverage (assuming green tea). Anyhow, next thing we notice this chic goes over by my bowl already fixed and touches my lettuce on my blackened chickened bowl (with the same gloves she was coughing in). Then as the other worker was getting my hubby's quesadillas, this same older woman begins coughing by my bowl into her glove, then she began to touch the lettuce on the side of my bowl and tucked it inside of the bowl. I looked at my hubby and said to him, oh this better not be my bowl! And sure enough it was; as the female worker who was finishing up the quesadillas placed my bowl and his quesadillas on a tray. I told my hubby I did not want that! He told the girl what happened and asked to remake it. We were not given any issues with the remake; however after we went to sit down we observed this same older woman walking by the register after the female worker told her why she had to remake my bowl. It didn't change anything as she still kept the same gloves on and only just returned back to the cashier area to sip her beverage and remained coughing in those same gloves for about another good 20mins (not knowing how long she had been wearing these same gloves). Even though they remade my bowl, I took a few bites and was just like I don't want this! I should had asked for a refund versus getting a remake of the bowl. I advise others to avoid this place as I'm not sure how sanitize this place is. Especially, if they allow workers to just cough around the food and into the same gloves; in which they touch customers food with. You could clearly see this older woman was sick; but yet they allowed her to remain behind the kitchen. I know it is not flu season, but that don't mean nothing! AVOID!

Think of this place like a Chipotle, but they determine what goes in your burrito. Menu has some more refreshing items, but really missing the chance to customize (at least it didnt seem like there was one). Burrito was good but they definitely go heavy on the rice, which it then becomes clear why they don't make the burrito in front of you. Chips were decent, not stale. Guac was delicious, but the queso was pretty bland. A cool extra was the hot sauce wall that allows you to pick from about 50 sauces. Staff was nice too. Overall just an okay experience and probably won't go back unless we get another coupon or they run some sort of deal.

I always have high hopes when going to cal tor, but the food always seems a little lacking. they have the typical yellow queso with tomatoes and onions and reddish "mexican" rice. their meats are what usually disappoint me the most, even though you can see them grilling everything when ordering from the counter it all still has the taste of being pre-cooked and mass produced.

A not bad alternative in the burrito and mexican market. For being the best burrito in the nation and having tons of signage to that effect in the restaurant, i dont agree. Good. Sure. Fresh. Absolutely. But there are options lacking: only black beans for one. So for me it will always be a second option unless no other options are present nearby. The chips are large, but freah. The salsa is mostly tomato and onion so very hard to dip or stretch it out for all the chips provided which is smaller than average when compared to other places.

Don't go here. It was not very clean, and the best thing I can say about the food is that I didn't get food poisoning. It was a depressing place and it rather ruined my night to go eat there. The music was awful too. I should have walked out as soon as I walked in. I will trust my first impression next time.

I love California Tortilla food! The street tacos are amazing... the slaw is sweet and lime-ish but not too much and the blackened fish is the best fish in a fish taco I’ve had anywhere! It’s full of flavor and it’s healthier than the breaded fish a lot of places use. The only issue I have with this location is they don’t put enough salt on the chips so they are very bland, and the parking situation is terrible!!!

Staff were amazing and very happy and kind! I was surprised when I went in as I thought it would be busy at around lunch time, however that was not the case. My friend and I were the only two in the restaurant. The food itself was extremely flavorful and great. The only downside to the establishment was the price. It was $20 just for two tacos and a soft drink. Seemed a bit high to me, but the service was kind and the food was delicious.

Placed on-line oders 2 times and one call in and pick-up order on ALL occasions I along with the rest of the "hungry people" I was disappointed! The food is NOT bad for the price however the Customer Service sucks...from the incorrect orders to the fact of adding insult to injury. Okay the food is NOT the right order, we call to make them aware and immediately they offer "REFUND"! Why I don't know being as though just because the order was wrong we are NO LONGER HUNGRY! Really after waiting 30+ mins for an incorrect order we're even MORE HUNGRIER NOW! So it was just Rude to immediaetly suggest refund opposed to correcting the error and returning with what we initially ordered. No Sorry, No Courtesy Chips, just a we'll need your address again REALLY! Customer Service doesn't align with the FOOD and for that I will NOT return! 3 STRIKES you're OUT!!!

First time coming here and enjoyed it a lot. The chicken, bacon, tomato (CBT) was fantastic. They have the coca cola freestyle machines too, so you can mix soft drinks to your liking. Enjoyed it so much I had to come back the next day to have it again.

Poor customer service. Same food. We had the unfortunate need to eat late and walked in at 8:35. After ordering we were asked if it was for there or to go. Looking around there were others there so we chose our preference and we're warned they'd be closing at 9. The soda machine had 4 choices - good if you wanted diet Coke, fantasizing, or ginger ale. No explanation other than lack of fluids for the lacking choices. At 8:58 we we're told they were closing. We were informed she locked the front door and we'd have to leave through the side door. We we're barely out the door at 8:59 when they locked the doors. Love the way they cherish their customers. It's not like we don't have other choices.

Terrible customer service. I ordered food from their website ahead of time to pick up. Once I arrived, I was told that my order had not been process even though I received a confirmation and card charged. After 15 minutes of trying to get that across and receive my food or refund. I was told it had already been refunded (lie). I was then told I could place a new order and would have to wait for it to be made. This store is a waste of 30 minutes because of terrible service.

We stopped at this California Tortilla location last Saturday to get something to eat before an early evening movie. I wish I got her name to mention it here, but the lady that took our order was awesome. She took some time to give us some suggestions when we were undecided on what to get. We have visited many times to other places, but we did not want to have leftovers, etc. She was very outgoing and friendly, and was very quick with our special requests and order. The food was very good as usual. We had BBQ quesadillas, a burrito bowl, along with their chips and queso combo. Also, on a very cold day, the temperature inside the restaurant was very warm even by their large windows. We will definitely be back!

I first came to this interesting burrito restaurant when I was working up the streetfrom Wilson Blvd. I noticed that once you enter the place you get the sense that things may be way different than your average chain Mexican restaurant. The entire interior including the walls and tables are all decorated with colors. This particular location also has outside seating, which we have enjoyed on at least two occasions, and the parking is not that bad considering the area. They have an awesome selection of burritos and they run about $8 which includes chips with cheese and a medium drink. Compared to other restaurants with similar menu options, I think that the food here has a better kick to it. The last time that we went, my friend and I really enjoyed the Crunchy BBQ Ranch Burrito. Their insane selection of sauces is remarkable and I encourage everyone to explore. I usually go for the one that is a step down from the hottest, just because of the fact that I’ve experienced what hot salsa actually is in Mexico. California Tortilla is definitely a great casual dining experience. It's a great place to grab a something quick, fresh and healthy for lunch! I checked out their website, and it was also interesting to find out about the dietetic information listed there. It appears that there are options to custom make your burrito with ingredients that are lower in calories. Nice touch!

This is my third time here... both other times I didn't like the food, but thought it was probably just the food I chose to order... the food on the menu does not go well with itself, so this time I customized a burrito, my order number was 204... 211 was called before me... when I got my burrito, I found out they put lettuce and salsa in it, which I didn't order. I really only gave two stars because it is edible... it's just not good food, bad service, and messes up your order.

While my food was good, I couldn’t get over how filthy this place was. There was grease on literally every surface. Every table was filthy and sticky. Every chair. The floor was so sticky my shoes were peeling off of the floor. There was splatter all over the walls. The drink machine was out of a bunch of options- it was also filthy and I didn’t even want to get a drink from it because of how gross it was. The place has clearly seen better days and it is not well maintained at all. I won’t be back with my two kids unless they clean the place up. The woman who made my food was sweet and she seemed like a hard worker. Everyone else looked miserable.

I was incredibly disappointed in my visit today. The establishment lacked cleanliness, the food was less than appetizing, and I even found a piece of hair in my chips. The chicken burrito I had was truly poor quality. 75% rice (dry rice at that) and I"m not sure the chicken was even 100% cooked. Cal Tort burritos have never been as juicy and satisfying as Chipotle, but this location has dipped below what it once was.

This restaurant is filthy. It is Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm. As I walked in, I noticed how sticky the floor was. The cashier is sitting down behind the register "playing" in his hair. He stands to take my order. A tall gentleman walks to the food line, places a plastic glove on one hand and prepares the BBQ quesadilla. THE FOOD WAS OK. While sitting and looking over the restaurant you notice all the "dirty" details. No music, all the tables were dirty (only 3 were occupied for the time I was there), trash all over the floor, doors, windows, soda counter, all were dirty. A lady came out and began cleaning. She used the same "rag" to wipe 18 dirty tables and never once rinsed it. I can't imagine ever returning. Use Google Maps to find many other places close by.

This location recently came under new management, but the food is just as bad as ever. The quality isn't much higher than you'd expect at Taco Bell or another fast food Mexican place, but the prices definitely are. I had a generic chicken burrito, but the meat was pretty tasteless and the lettuce watery. The new decor and facade are nice and the staff are friendly, but they can't make up for the disappointing food. If you're hungry for fast casual Mexican food in the Courthouse area, you're better off walking to the Chipotle in Rosslyn.

In the same vein as Chipotle or Baja Fresh, but I just love the personality of CalTort. Its a great team behind the brand and I really like their off-the-wall burrito options. This location has an outside patio in addition to their large indoor space. They are conveniently located across from the Court House Metro station.

I've only been to California Tortilla once, and would probably never go back... I think I tried their Southwestern Salad without the chicken, and it was very disappointing. The lettuce wasn't very good quality (not fresh), the guac wasn't great, and it had way too much cilantro. Honestly, just skip this place -- you're probably better off going to Chipotle or not eating at all.

Went in on on late sunday after noon, not to many people was there but it took nearly 15 mins to get my food. the korean bbq burrito bowl was great but the blacken fish tacos were bland and were fried. I wasn't excepting that part. While I was waiting they messed another guest pick up food. I don't plan on going back there.

I used to eat Cal Tort all the time in college, so every visit here is a nostalgic step back. They do burritos, but they like to do crazy stuff in them all the time. My particular favorite is the Honey Lime burrito, but they have so many different styles that it's hard to stick with one all of the time. Come in on Mondays after 5pm, and you get to spin the Burrito Wheel as well - win prizes just for buying a regular burrito!
