Well let's start with the fact that it's obscenely overpriced. I have lived in this area for nearly 10 years and tried almost every Chinese buffet here. This place charges nearly $10 more for the adult Buffet and $8 more for the child's Buffet than any other buffet in the area. The food was about the same quality as you would get from a highway truck stop Chinese restaurant. The women that clean your dirty plates from the tables hover like starving scarecrows and examine every single plate to make sure that you're not wasting the smallest amount of food so they can charge you even more. So take it from a local to save your money and your patience and go anywhere else.

The food is good and there is a nice variety. Sushi there is pretty fresh for being a buffet. The hibachi is always my favorite. We went on a Friday and service was good. Our cups were always filled and table always cleared.

If you have ever read and believed a review, make it this one. The food in this place is just not that good. Some items looked like they have been sitting out for days. There is a big selection but I can’t even classify this as mediocre. Waitresses were constantly staring our way. As soon as I pulled my card from my wallet, she had her hand out. We left a cash tip on the table and the waitress grabbed it before we could even stand up. Just a bad experience in every way. We are here on vacation for 4 days. Don’t waste one of your family’s meals on this place. A sign when we sat down said if you leave to much food on your plate, you will be charged extra. Should have left when I saw that. Won’t happen to this family again.

I've been to many different Chinese/hibachi restaurants and I've NEVER had one where the service AND food was so bad! The hibachi chef was NOT friendly at all. He seemed like he hated his job. They waitresses didnt clean the tables. I will 100% NOT be returning!!!

LOVE the food here at Buffet City!!! I just visited the Virginia Beach, and friends told me Buffet City is their favor place. After we arrived, there are many people during the weekends, but the restaurant is very clean. I love the environment , it is better than the most Chinese restaurants. However, the fresh food is the key point. My friends and I love everything there,.....the king crab is pretty fresh, crab meat is very tender, juicy, not salty..... anther my favor is sushi. I went Japan two years ago, so I know the what the good sushi is. Sushi rice here is sweet and sour, since they used fresh lemon and Japanese vinegar, The raw fish was so fresh, it surprised me at all. For sushi ,the raw meat must be fresh , or it will make you sick. the beef broccoli was great taste, better than other restaurants. There are a lot things we like, we will go there again future.

I really don't understand why this place isn't rated higher. This is one of the better buffets I've been to! All of the chicken options are phenomenal and there is a variety of sushi. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. I'll be coming back A LOT more.

First time here, its not busy at all. sushi was amazing and fresh, so many food options for everyone all you can eat, and it was under $10 per person before 3:30pm, I will definitely be bringing the whole family back very soon. False Advertising!!!! All you can eat crab legs for $16.99 My family has been going for years till the Owner said I'm going to charge you 29.99 then changed to 25.99 since you eat a lot of the Seafood .We eat everything!!! If you are going to an ALL you can eat buffet doesn't it defeat the purpose .Will never step foot in there again. By the way they only bring out about 6 claws of crab legs out every 20 to 30 minutes.People were complaining.Is it right they can raise a price per different person that walks in...no.

We weren't charged but felt like we had to eat everything even if we didnt care for something. But this place was very good and we enjoyed it. Also, 11yr old pays adult price so didn't love that.

The food was not very well prepared flavorless and undercooked. While I do like attentive service I do not appreciate sweeping and cleaning constantly over me while I'm eating. On more than one occasion me and my family had to tell the server we were not done eating as she attempted to clear the table. Lunch prices are advertised at 799 per customer. They charged us the full $10 dinner time price stating that Sunday the lunch prices do not apply. I do not recommend that anyone visit buffet city.

The guy at the front was something..he argued abut the age of my granddaughters age, I asked for a close table and he walks clear to the back, I didn't follow. Food was ok, the waitress not so much. First, she took the plate I was eating from, to get the plate I had put under it. Then she stepped on my toes, which took some maneuvering since they were under the table. I said ouch, you stepped on my foot. She smiled and leaned against the wall laughing. She then took the package from the fortune cookie out of my grandmother's hand. I was done and had to leave...I do understand the language barrier but rude is the same in every language..

All you can eat, great choices, great taste. This place had all of the popular chinese food items. I had the Chicken balls, noodles and egg rolls + some seafood dishes. The place is clean and when the buffet is empty, there is a new batch right behind it. Pricing is good too. I will definitely be going back with family and friends.

They continue to advertise that they offer crab legs on their buffet. They do not. You can buy a pound for $10 IF you also purchase buffet. They will say "Sorry, website old." I arrived at 7:30pm on a Saturday night and stayed anyway because they did have ribs. I had a salad first then went for ribs and was told that they just ran out for the evening. Sushi had only a few choices and they had no raw tuna OR salmon. Never again.

Good stuff! Quality was above average for this type of buffet, and service was good. It was nice to see they refilled the buffet with fresh food regularly. We brought my in-laws here for their first visit, and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I love their Coconut Shrimp and Coconut Chicken. The spring rolls are fun to munch on. The Hibachi Chicken and Mongolian Beef are tasty.

This is one of hands down best hibachi grill I have ever gone to. If you go to the Virginia Beach, this is the place where you should stop and eat! I promise you would not regret this! I recommended you to get the Lo Mein noodles, they were so good!

One of the worst buffets I've ever been to. Fried food (including tempura) was oversaturated with oil, desert selection was pudding or more pudding with a cookie or two. Service was good but the food was horrible.

This place though it looked shabby on the inside and not much on the outside was a hiddem gem. All food was tasty and had somthing for even the picky eaters. The sushi was fresh and monitered regularly, and so was your table. Not to invasive wait staff. They showed up just in time to take plates and leave. Also for the price $10.99 for adults you cant complain seeimg as the next lowest thing is $16. I say give it a shot you might serprise yourself. Tldr Outside of the decor this place was great.

The food here at Buffet City is too good !!! I just visited Virginia with my girlfriend and I found Buffet City by accident. The place was full of people, but very clean, organized and nice. the food is very good, especially it feels like it's fresh. My girlfriend found it a bit chaotic but it is normal we are Italian and she lives in a small town so she is not used to it. I took several things including sushi, very good ... even the seafood was good and looked fresh! all in all it's cheap so I recommend it !!!

Buffet city hits the spot if you are craving Asian food. I’m mostly impressed with how they kept their seafood fresh given that it is a buffet. Basically, it’s a supreme buffet at its finest. Just go if you are nearby and thank me later.

It was just weird. Got here at 730pm on a sunday, crowded but food never replaced. Everything was old, dry from sitting out too long. Not much flavor. The soups were good. The rice was ok. The ice cream has different yummy flavors. The service? Uncomfortable. Non stop cleaning,sweeping,etc. Every waiter satring at u, picking up dish after dish & we weren't even done. Didnt like it much here but very nice staff.

Buffet City Hibachi Grill was a nice stop on our travels. We were traveling through VA down the East coast and wanted to stop somewhere that would fill us up so we wouldn't have to stop again. BCHG was a great choice! The prices are extremely fair for the selection you are getting. The place is clean and comfortable, and the staff is pleasant. The food is what you'd expect from a buffet and the selection is killer. I really enjoyed myself and found almost every dish I tried "hitting the spot" after a long day in the van. We left happy and ready to continue our journey.

Would have had a better experience if I had not seen the hibachi guy take the tongs from the crab and use it to grab my chicken and steak off the grill to move it. Then put it right back in the crab bin. Other than that it is always great.

First of all it was a clean, friendly environment. They had a little bit of everything. My family loves sushi, but I am not as big of a fan. I was able to get the king crab which did not disappoint. So yesterday I went to this buffet for lunch. Needless to say by the stars given that I wouldn't recommend them. Half the food was empty and the other half was stale. The manager, Shana, was not very pleasant to say the least! I asked her how long for fresh food and she rudely replied 10 to 20 minutes. Ummm they open at 11. It was noon. I will not be going back. The broccoli was fresh, hence the two stars.

I wouldn’t recommend. Definitely my least favorite buffet . It wasn’t that much food up there . The habachi part flavor is so underwhelming. I tried to eat as much as I can since they had this “don’t waste food sign or we will charge you” The dessert part basically consistent of pudding and water down fruit. Pineapple were good though .
