Went here based on the good reviews and a recommendation by a friend. Ordered medium rare steak. Received a "blue" one: Literally was fridge-cold inside still. Sent it back. My companion had also steak...his was similar but at least room temperature inside the steak. I picked on his sides to get the cold meat flavor out of my mouth. On our drive home (about 30min after eating the entree we had to pull over to vomit). Food poisoning ruined that evening. Expensive, unprofessional food preparation plus food poisoning. Never again. Oh, the staff was nice...

The staff was very accommodating in arranging for the five of us, two driving south for 4 hours and three driving north for 4 hours, to be efficiently seated and served at the end of the midday meal service The food was delicious, as always, and our server was superb; despite the hour, we never felt rushed. She also accommodated my niece's request for an apple, like the one used in our table's centerpiece.

Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in the Valley. A great spot for lunch, however dinner service tonight was awesome. Pork cheek was tender and rich. The garlic shrimp were perfect.

Restaurant came highly recommended. We have been there twice and the food has been exceptional, the portions a good size, and the prices are consistent with what one pays for quality food. My wife and I try different things, although the menu does change often. Solid wine list and not extensive, but good selection of dishes. Others have complained about the prices and service. Maybe they should go through fast food if they are in a hurry. Scott, the owner and chef, typically is out talking with the diners when he has a chance, as well as helps bus tables, etc. The staff are friendly and are not overly visible, but available if needed. As far as being asked to leave, it is a small restaurant and needs to turn over tables to make a profit for the restaurant and wait staff. The earlier seatings are 90 minutes which has been more than enough time for us. The last sitting would be ideal for people who want to sit over dinner for 3 hours.

The food and service were amazing. Best place to enjoy fine dining Christi was our server and sommelier and she was wonderful !! We had five courses with wine pairings. The wine selections were perfect with each course! The pacing of the meal was perfect. We never felt rushed or hurried. Beautiful interior that creates a lavish but comfortable dining experience. A little too loud until it cleared out, which was distracting. Service was fantastic, host checked in on us as well, which is always a nice touch. Not an extensive wine list, but the one's they have are well recieved. We had the specials, which were the Mussels and Crab Cakes which were both exceptional. Dessert was a bit too much on the bland side, which just means the chef's realm is savory and not sweet. Not a deal breaker by any means.

Blue Apron is one of the top three restaurants in the area. I have eaten here more than five times and it is a consistent five stars. The menu changes regularly and I am always satisfied. Half portions are offered so you can try more than one entree each visit!

Portions are getting smaller. Got $9 potato soup and no more than a cup portion. Soup plate exterior was similar in size to what I had been served on previous occasions but part that held soup was noticeably smaller. Really? Creme brûlée is always good!

This restaurant is my favorite for a girlfriend lunch. The fiid is delicious and the service is superb. Gwen was our server. The first thing she said to us was, "Do you want to relax or do you want me to take your order soon?" We relaxed with wine and an appetizer. The mussels were delicious. Gwen said she was going to delay our mussel order because warm bread would be ready soon. She made excellent meal suggestions. Thank you to Gwen and Blue Apron for a great girlfriend lunch experience!

We went for my birthday dinner and everything was delicious as usual. We always come here for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries and each and every time they live up to our expectations! My only suggestion for improvement would be to comp a $4.00 desert instead of saying "I hope you enjoyed your birthday desert" and charging you for it. Little things like that keep customers coming back!

Delicious! Every bite was better then the last. Loved that you can do a half plate. My husband and I each had a salad, and shared three half plates. Left us with just enough room for dessert! I love this place! In an area with very few options when it comes to high end food, this place takes the cake and then some. They offer half potions so you can build you own tasting menu. Food changes throughout the seasons which always keeps the menu fresh. By far the best place to go in the roanoke valley!

I just have to share my experience about the Blue Apron restaurant in Salem, VA. It is spectacular. I have not had a dish there that I did not like. They have a great variety, even a peaky eater can find something tasty to eat. Service is wonderful also. And for those of us that trying not to over it, myself included, they have half portions. Love it. :)

The food was wonderful, but the service was exceptional. This was the best example of teamwork I think I have ever witnessed..seamless, genuine, perfectly attentive. When 88 year old at a nearby table had trouble making up her mind, the waiter gently lead her through options and recommendations to what seemed to suit her, and then when she judged the soup too "hot"...spicy...he replaced it with a "not hot," version that she enjoyed. At every step they took her requests seriously and gently as if she was a favored relative. Superior creme brulee...only bettered by addition of one raspberry in the middle!

Drove in from Norfolk for several activities in the Roanoke area for my wife’s birthday. Researched restaurants on-line before leaving home. The Blue Apron stood out from guests reviews and seemed unique. Circled the block three times before finally seeing the front door. Very small front “presence”!! Reservation at 5:30 PM. For some reason the bartender from the adjacent room took our drink and food order and continued to assist us as our waitress until near the end of our meal. Then, no waitress? Ditched! After alerting several staff that we needed to check out, another staff brought our check. Frustrating. Now for the highlight, our food was outstanding!!! Best Provençal Bouillabaisse ever and outstanding pork cheeks with deliciously flavored under-base. One final not-so-good, skip the strawberry shortcake. Biscuit (for cake), very small and seemed two days old. Overall experience, great entrees with a few things still needing work.

Have had a wonderful meal here everytime I've tried it - about five times total for lunch and dinner. Prices are pretty high, but the food is worth it. The menu has enough daily choices that it is interesting over time, and getting small portions is a neat option. That way, you can try several things as appetizers and entrees. Staff is very accommodating, and that coffee in the individual french press pots is outstanding.

This is one of the absolute best restaurants in the area. Excellent selections, quality prepared food, menu changes with the seasons, local fresh foods are used, different meal sizes priced accordingly, excellent staff and chefs, hot fresh coffee, hot soups, very tasty dishes. The staff has always been professional, prompt, accommodating, and friendly. The staff is also very knowledgeable and helpful with people who have dietary restrictions. If one wishes to have an outstanding dining experience, this is the place to visit.

Blue Apron is, almost certainly, the best restaurant in the Roanoke Valley. There. I said it. I haven't posted that to any other restaurant's page so I can't be accused of tossing that out lightly. I was supposed to drive some friends into town on Saturday, August 12th, but as luck would have it my phone froze and I could contact neither my friends nor the restaurant. I drove to Blue Apron basically to apologize for missing my reservation. Not only did they hold it but they gave me a 4-top on a Saturday night in case my friends showed up. My server was delightful. The Southbond cocktail was delicious. The herbed chicken was amazing and the Closerie de Lys white wine I had with it was a lovely pairing. I can't recommend this place highly enough, and I can't thank the staff enough for turning what would have been a ruined evening into a wonderful experience.

Love this place. They have half portions available for most dishes, so it's great if you want to taste a couple dishes. The chef is great at marrying the right flavors, and service and presentation are first class. A bit loud and some tables are close together, but those are minor quibbles. The food is excellent.
