This place was absolutely perfect! Came here for my SO birthday and everything was fantastic. The prefix menu was exactly what I was looking for. Each dish was delicious and well thought out with the beer pairing menu. There were some dishes that tempted me to visit from NY more often. Romantic atmosphere and very attentive service. Would absolutely visit again if in DC.

Brian Seastrom

Visiting town and had dinner with 7. Menu is really good, food is very good. Excellent service. glad we got a bunch of appetizers, they were all really good. Left very happy. Would recommend to a friend.

Jeff Kryger

Stopped in for dinner before a concert. The ambiance and service were great, we had an enjoyable time. HUGE beer list, tons of different draft options and then some crazy number of bottles on top of that. Pretty solid wine/cocktail collection as well. We ordered a few different appetizers and that actually was enough food for us. The flatbread pizzas were good and I highly recommend the deviled eggs.

Tommy Hart

Best beer place in DC. Huge selection on tap, tons more in bottles, smart servers who know their beers. Great atmosphere. Lucky to live so close and get there often!

Henry Webb

EVERYTHING is always delicious and prepared and flavored so well. The drinks are delicious. Can I give this place 6 stars? Because it was absolutely amazing!

Alex Curti

Brat burger was potentially the worst thing I've ever ordered at a restaurant. Server was condescending and not very attentive. Loud as hell. Only thing this place has going for it is the beer selection.

Elgin jenkins

Great food amazing section of beer

Patrick Mead

Best beer/drink menu in DC. The service and foods not too shabby either ;)

Crystal Liu

The free appetizers were great. They served the beers at the temperature they were supposed to be served at for the best flavor possible, something other places don't really do. My pasta was amazing. What more can you ask for?

Michael Ockree

Downstairs from the famous church key bar. Was pleasantly surprised by their food. Plus you can get all the great brews from upstairs.

Sogand Ka

Seasonal menu great brunch and awesome staff

richard guenther

I booked a table for 4 of us, hoping to have an experience similar to what I had at the Michelin starred Bands of Bohemia in Chicago, which specializes in beer pairing menus. The opening was promising - an amuse bouche with an excellent first beer. And through the course of the 3 hour dining experience the food and the beer was very well paired and delicious. The service, however, was just average - that is the Michelin star difference. The beer often came out 10-15 minutes before the food course, which meant you drank most if not all of the beer before the food arrived or the beer got warm when you drank it with the food. The rest of the experience was good - good noise level, front door was open and the weather provided nice temps. The server was definitely knowledgeable and did a good job of explaining why the beer and food were matched. Overall would recommend the experience.

Andru Flores

Chef tasting 5 course. Amazing

ifesinachi anosike

Good spot to grab food and talk. Nothing really special. Got 3 stars since they forgot the cheese on my eggs.

Cary Owsley

Good restaurant that is reasonably priced. The NY strip is absolutely amazing.

Patricia Crosby

The staff is very friendly. Our servers name is Gerald. He is very attentive with bringing our orders and filling our waters. My friend and I both had chicken and waffles and it was devine! We also had peasant bread that melts in your mouth. Our server even brought us free donut for dessert. Would definitely come back!!!

Aaron Barker

Had some absolutely fantastic food here. Arrived right when they opened as I had been eager to try this out for days on my DC trip and hadn't managed to make it work yet. The restaurant is attractively decorated, with tons of hanging candles that add a nice ambiance, enhanced by the wide-open front door into the sunshine on what was a beautiful evening. I had the devilled eggs, NOLA BBQ shrimp, and the lamb. I was also served a steak tartare "amuse-bouche" courtesy of the owner, who was in attendance and checking on guests, and some bread. The bread is worth mentioning as it alone would have ranked as one of the best meals I've had in weeks. SO fresh, crispy outside and deliciously soft and buttery inside. The devilled eggs were not a stand out (which says more about the rest of the meal than the dish), but very tasty and thoughtfully prepared all the same. The NOLA BBQ shrimp had an insanely tasty blend of spices and juices that was JUST at the perfect balance of hot and still incredibly flavourful. The spicing was one of the best I've ever tasted. And more bread to mop up the sauces afterward. Mmm. The lamb was a new dish being trialled. Served as a "deconstructed gyro," it was lamb on the bone, served with 4 sauces and pitta breads. The lamb was crispy outside and mouthwateringly melty towards the bone. I struggled to add any sauces because I'd already eaten quite a lot of food at this point, but I did top the pitta with the accompanying fries + the lamb and roll it into a mini sandwich, which proved a great combination. Unfortunately did not have room for dessert, but the compass coffee served in French press was really good. I paired the meal with one of the silky stouts on offer, and was given several tastings of others while chatting to my server. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Leah M.V.

I had a great burger and a lovely glass of scotch when I was there. I went with a large party we called ahead, and they were able to get us a table when we arrived. the service was excellent. Mixologist did a fabulous job

Sarah Huh

The food and service here was incredible! The brunch menu was delicious, and food came out very quickly. Would recommend to anyone!

Ethan Poole

Great restaurant. Good place to hang out with friends or family. Solid beer selection and the food was excellent.

Lauren Pignataro Rakitin

The beer selection here is among the best in DC. The staff are all very knowledgeable about the beer menu and give helpful suggestions. I would give 4 stars for the food, which is consistently good but will not wow you.

Brian L

Really good food in a laid back, upscale space. Bartender Warren was amazing! He did the job of 3 people and made it look easy. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in DC.

Brandon Wardlaw

Great beer menu, but overall mediocre experience. Ordered a prix fixe 'flight' menu option, and though the appetizer (fois gras toast) and salad course (mushroom fricassee) were quite good, the main was depressing (tough, somewhat stringy duck - classic signs it was cooked at too high of a temp too quickly). Dessert (doughnut) was okay. Wait times between courses was excessive, and beer pairings delivered perhaps 10-15 mins before the next course arrived. Service was fine, though it was confusing that the runner that dropped off most dishes would describe the dish at length and always finish with some variant "and there are herbs", which was a strangely nonspecific and inane addition to an otherwise detailed description. The dining room was also unusually warm for a July evening, and AC seemed non-existent near and in the bathrooms. There also seems to be a problem with flies - our table was visited by many large fruit flies throughout the night.

Rebecca Davis

Loved the tasting menu. Elegant food and excellent service.

Michael Owens

Great beer list and the food is AMAZING. Everything made from scratch, worth every penny. Perfect for a date

Vimby 210

Beer was great! Pack your wallet, it's expensive and servings are small. Food was good, but beer in a fourth of a wine glass for $3-4 bucks is hard to stomach. Service was ok not great.

David Bump

Creative menu with reasonable variety. Excellent food! Very attentive service. Quiet enough to have a conversation without raising your voice.

Antonio Franco

Friendly staff, great food, great brews. What more can you ask for?

Salome Ok

A great place to spend time with friends and explore their extensive tap and bottle beer list. They even had gluten free beer for my gluten intolerant friend!

Steven E

Top notch! Food was excellent and the beer menu was extensive. I am a big beer nut and they had beers I never heard of. We were recommended to this place and it was our first stop after checking into our hotel. Our waitress Emma was not only delightful but helpful in picking out beers to go with our food. This will be a must anytime we come back.

Evan Stephens

My roommate and I went into this restaurant week not knowing what to expect, but ended up being one of our favorite restaurant Week experiences ever. The brunch optionsvwete both delicious and perfectly portioned, and we also did their boozy brunch option which has two cocktails and unlimited coffee added on. The whole thing was incredible, and I wish it was noon again so I could restart the whole meal again - high praise! Highly recommended

Scott Hawkins

Great beer selection. The wings were great. Staff is great.

Mike Ragsdale

Came for brunch and was not disappointed. Everything is done fresh in-house. They even smoke the bacon themselves. A can't miss for DC brunch restaurants.

bleg la fleur

Cool and cozy place nice food

Peter Donald

Delicious!

Rodney Ferguson

I haven’t ate yet but the service alone warrants 5 stars. Place is packed, and I’m seated, with a drink and meal ordered, in under 6 minutes. Well done

Lourdes Hilbers

Great selection of food. Good place for groups to share apps and entrees. The duck and pork belly were fantastic! I also really enjoyed the roasted cauliflower.

Amber Macks

Great food but a little bit of a dark/loud atmosphere for a larger group dinner. The servers were very accommodating with our large group.

Gayle Childers

Great beer, decent food Spaghetini Nero was deemed delicious. Petite Filet was cooked properly at med rare, but was a bit too chewy. A little surprise amuse bouche was fun and the bread was delicious. Thought $12 for a very small (1/2 of a wine glass including lots of ice seemed pretty steep, though it was quite good. Husband loved that they had cask-conditioned ales. May consider returning for Sunday Brunch. Very busy, so service wasn't terrific, but consider the busyness.

Sean Collins

One of the better brunches I've had in DC. Great food and the cocktails were great. Maybe the best bloody I've ever had. Spicy, rich and bold. Was delicious.

Max Kashdan

Really good food and drinks. Beyond my expectations. Try the mushroom fricassee.

S.O.S Leader

Salads r not chopped up if your gluten free they give you gluten free bread

Bianca Hutton

With all the new and shiny places, it's easy to forget about a neighborhood classic like Birch & Barley. We enjoyed the wine, a surprise amuse bouche, delicious bread (bonus for bringing our non-gluten friend gluten-free bread!), good gnocchi (too much melted cheese distracted from the true star of the dish), a solid burger (with fries that that weren't our faves) and a salmon dish that satisfied the whole 30 diet needs of a fellow diner. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Pro tip: try a tasting of a fruity beer for dessert!

Eric Dudeck

Exceeds expectations. Our server, Mark, was so welcoming and attentive. And everything that came out of the kitchen was interesting and well made. Beer menu was very good, as were cocktails. Will be coming back!

Ayan Bhattacharyya

Delicious pastas. Terrific locally-brewed IPA selection. Above average hostess. Knowledgeable servers. Relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Good with my work group. And they are very diligent about keeping your water cup full, which is a huge plus while consuming alcohol. Full 5 stars for sure!

Timothy Boettcher

Probably some of the best food in DC.

Diego Chojkier

Dinner is regularly amazing. It's really hard to get a brunch reservation, but I finally did and it's oh-so worth the wait. The corned beef was deceptively good. The service was attentive and the location is perfect to follow-up with a stroll along 14th street, or down to the White House.

Rasool Todd

Foodies will love it. Creative menu. Dishes taste excellent. Indulge. One of my favorite restaurants in DC now.

Fredrik Otter

Good beer. Nice crowd. Bar menu is overpriced and not very good. Otherwise perfect.

Luuk van Dijk

stylish and incredible food. also beers.

Melissa Barron

I highly recommend Birch & Barley for brunch. Their menu offers something for everyone and everything is reasonably priced for downtown DC. The staff did a wonderful job accommodating my food allergies and provided me with so many customization options it was overwhelming in the best way possible. The food and mimosas were very good and I would be happy to return for another meal!

David Elliott

Get. The. Chef's pairing menu!! I, personally, didn't always like the pairing, but you could always see what the attempt was. My dinner partner often enjoyed the ones I didn't, so the execution was not in anyway lacking. It was my personal preference. The beer was unique and interesting. The food was very well executed, seasoned, and presented. Service was excellent. Again, get the chefs testing menu, loosen your pants, and enjoy!

Phillip Zimmerman

Great restaurant and even better beer selection

carlos borges

One of favorite DC restaurants. The beer selection is world class. Sat at the bar for dinner and enjoyed a few fantastic pairings recommended by our bartender. Went from hoppy to light to sour. Tried a few craft beers that I've never heard of. The food is extraordinary. Had the hamachi crudo, the lamb ribs, the cavatelli. All divine in preparation and presentation. The flavor profiles on the dishes we had are well thought out and delicious. As for presentation, who doesn't love an edible flower garnish to compliment an elegant meal? The restaurant is dimly light. I'm a big fan of that. Dream about going back.

Nupur Moudgill

This place has amazing ambience, real friendly and knowledgeable staff and BEER! If you're a fan of beer, you HAVE to try this place out. The food is good too, but experimenting with the amazing variety of beer served here will keep you ordering for more! Loved, loved this place!! Rates aren't extra pricey, but it's worth the price.

Ryan Swann

Decent food and decent drink. I really wasn't impressed with the menu selection. Hopefully they have updated it

Tommy Lisiak

Really enjoyed the tasting menu. Great date spot

Steve Gilman

Delicious food. Menu changes quite frequently.

Andrew Garcia

The food was pretty simple and plain. I was expecting more flavorful food for the price I paid. The service was great! Unfortunately the food brought my experience down to a 3 star because the server was very attentive.

s bb

Unnecessarily pricey. Portions are small even for bar food. Waitress forgot about us and our food orders multiple times. Lack of communication between food runners and wait staff. Twice we had a drink runner try to give us beers we didn't order.

Evan Klondar

Always a great place for a beer and a bite to eat. Dinners are expensive but very tasty, and the menu is updated regularly with seasonal specials or new recipes they're trying. Beer selection is by far the best in D.C. - whatever you're into, they have something for you. There are better places for food alone, but almost nothing better for food and drink pairing. If you're feeling even slightly adventurous, you should ask your server to pick a beer they like in a category you enjoy. You're almost guaranteed to find something new you'll enjoy.

Scott

Massive selection of beers! Can't go wrong. Food is very very good but the portions are slightly on the smaller side

Nelson Cortes

Have been there for three times now, and it has always been a very pleasant experience. I usually reserve the table through opentable and never had a problem when I get there to get it. The service was always great -- pleasant, friendly, and they explain everything asked about the menu. The food was always delicious. From the traditional burger, to the Mahi Mahi. Look forward to go back

Alexandra Edmonds

Absolutely my favorite restaurant. Great food, personable staff. The flat breads are to die for and the ambiance is awesome

Jeff Pratt

Great food and great service... Loved it!

Darren Beckstrand

Good drinks and a great cauliflower appetizer!

Cameron C

Went here for Sunday brunch with a group of 6. Service was good (a little slow) and the food was very disappointing. Burgers came out over-cooked and shoestring fries were cold/hard. Tater tots tasted amazing but hardly worth the price.

Rana Halabi

Went there for a birthday brunch and the staff were great! We ordered so much on the menu and each dish was better than the next! Will come back for sure!

Kalvin Saccal

I checked this place out at restaurant week. The food was average. Good value for the price. My beef with it was the service. Instead of listening and working with us, we were given instructions, the guy was not as cordial as you expect from a restaurant staff. I would come back, but I would hope I get a different experience.

Raphael Tisch

I was blown away by the beer selection here. Absolutely tremendous. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and kept bringing us beer tasters to make sure we got the perfect pairing with our food! We got the porterhouse special, and a beer that tasted like smoked bacon! Everything on the menu looked delicious. Can't wait to go back!

lenae jackson

Good was good, dessert was wonderful! Pastry Chef knows what she's doing.

Jeff Konst

Came here for a late dinner after a long happy hour. We came in within 30 minutes of closing which I felt bad about but none of the staff mentioned it. We were quickly served two free appetizers before our meal came out in ~10 minutes. Food was spectacular! Great lighting, great beer selection, will be back!

Mark Powell

Great atmosphere, servers, food and beer selection, what more could you want.

Jon

Huge craft beer selection. I recommend the cocamolé beer. Liquor selection is bit great fyi. Appetizers are awesome Service is awesome.

Fred Velasquez

Their beer list is huge. Food is tasty and friendly staff.

Victoria Sesay-Posey

Food was surprising to say the least, the appetizer and dessert were amazing while the main course the short rip was not seasoned well and very fatty. Service was good though.

brianammo

Great atmosphere and awesome staff!!

Mark Mancil

One of our fav spots in DC. Get the tasting menu with beer pairings. Never disappoints

Robby Burney

Exceptional experience. Friendly staff, literal best spaghetti I've ever had (fresh pasta, great plating, the works). Their bread is godly. Worth of your time and love

Fabrizio SCOTTO di SANTOLO

Food is creative and great. Drinks are a bit overpriced and intimidating. They could be braver with the wines at the glass. That foid deserves goid wines but the prices for wines are definitely intimidating unless you want to drink something really...basic.

Christopher Murray

The food was decent, but service was poor and the server couldn’t answer questions about the menu.

Xiaojiong Lu

A big group of us had some drink yesterday late evening. The food tasted good, but a bit expensive. I selected some different type of beer at beginning, later on, I was told the beer I asked for more was out of stock, and the manager arranged to bring some other, but did not tell me the price for those. I did not realize they were much much more expensive (3-4 times higher price) than the one I asked for. When we checked out at the end, they overcharged us and adjusted the price when I questioned that. We like the food and the drink but it was a bad experience in Washington DC.

Rachel Kelley

Chicken and waffles is a must! Corned beef hash was also very good. Great service. Will return when I visit DC again.

David Petrie

Extremely friendly staff. Incredible farm to plate food. Great atmosphere. Huge selection of craft beers. Pleasant overall experience, even for us,over 60's in younger crowd restaurant.

Parker Kennedy

I am visiting Washington D.C. for a week. My grandfather and I stumbled upon this place looking for some good food, little did we know we were getting one of the best meals we have ever had. First off, the environment is so peaceful and pleasing, low light with candles and some classic music to go with it. It just feels so very comfortable. Then the service, oh the service, they were polite, quick, and efficient. Our waitress Autumn was super helpful and had a smile on her face the whole time we were there. Now the most important, the food. This place is so very unique, from the Duck Breast to the deviled eggs. And of course the house made ice cream. This left us satisfied and our stomachs full, will definitely be coming again before we fly out.

Miller Fina

We had a great meal (especially enjoyed the cheese board). The only reason I did not give it five stars was because our server was forgetful and seemed disinterested. It at first put a damper on our meal but the quality of the food made up for it.

Zhen Wu

A casual gathering place, with decent drink selections. The service is nice, just ti-bit to quick on cleaning the dishes from the table. Very spacious interior, tasteful décor and menu options, all for a nice easy chat with friends or families ...

Adam Twardowski

First time visit — very impressed. Super friendly staff. Excellent chicken and waffles, plus fantastic and freshly made (in house) tater tots. Great ambiance and atmosphere too. Will return soon.

Ashlina Chin

I loved this place when I came here with my sister and friend. We had so much fun trying a ton of different beers and ate amazing food. The pictures are pretty outdated, but I will definitely be returning soon!

Melanie Peterson

Gréât béer sélection and delightful meal from start to finish. Bread was delicious. We got 4 different beers from their whole selection, each unique and flavorful. The ribeye was like butter, duck breast perfectly done. Oysters and broccoli Starters were tastefully done. Will certainly be coming back to try their tasting menu

Geoffrey Rabault

If you want to have a lovely evening it is the right place for you. Food is tasty, pairing with beer is amazing and the staff is friendly. We really enjoyed our time there! We will come back :-)

Neil Granning

First things First. the staff was absolutely wonderful, like beyond amazing. however the food was pretty sub-par. myself and a friend were visiting DC on a vacation and were recommended to head to the restaurant for dinner from a local. we ordered two different pasta dishes and a cheese and meat board for an app. cheese board was decent although nothing to write home about but the pasta was pretty terrible. it was over cooked and bland. the whole meal plus two beers (more on that below) was just under $100 dollars. the meal wasn't worth more than $30. don't bother going unless you just want to say hi to the staff. also as a note its so loud in the restaurant that you nearly have to yell to talk to people right in-front of you. PS- we come from Michigan. Jolly Pumpkin brewery is probably one of Michigan's least interesting breweries. its not special, please don't pretend like it is. It doesn't represent Michigan well as a leader in craft beer.

Doug Harris

Great food, awesome beer and whiskey selection.

Javier Justiniano

Boozy brunch is pretty delicious. An amazing farm to table menu with corn beef hash recommended by the incredibly courteous staff as a favorite and the perfect spicy Bloody Mary for any Sunday brunch. The meal: Sadly the hash came out on a plate that was hotter than the dish itself. While certain bites were bursting with flavor others tasted like bland chunks of Luke warm fat. Lots of potential but this serving was disappointing. (Note: Brunch is until 3pm and I arrived at 2pm. Perhaps the food was rushed? ) I'll give them another chance as the menu sounds amazing and it is a local favorite. Hopefully this was just a fluke. The drink: Their version of a Bloody Mary (with vodka) was incredible! The blend of fresh tomato juice/puree, notes of spice and lemon were perfect with this Ketel One concoction. The (included) dessert: The 3 small donuts were the freshest donuts I have ever had. (Bittersweet Chocolate, Lemon-Poppy Glazed, and Toffee-Bacon) All of them were very good though the tastes surprising. They were all slightly on the dry side but the Bittersweet chocolate glaze balanced out the warm munchkin perfectly. The lemon-poppy was deliciously unique. I was not expecting to enjoy that munchkin much and was thankfully surprised. The toffee-Bacon I saved for last and perhaps that is why I was a bit disappointed. While the flavor was there it did not permeate the donut hole at all and was simply a part of the glaze. This was not enough to counter the very dry nature of the little donut hole that couldn't. Verdict: Courteous staff though at some moments a little neglectful and overly preoccupied (it's busy here). Amazing value for brunch! With two absolutely amazing drinks, a single full entree and fresh donut holes (also bottomless ice tea or coffee) for only $30 (before tax and tip) Value should be emphasized! The menu is amazing on paper but execution is still lacking. A cold dish on a hot plate is a big no-no. (Though as I only had one dish perhaps this was a rare mistake.) Also a dish that is recommended yet has uneven and unbalanced flavor is an even bigger mistake in my book. The food can always be heated evenly but if flavor is inconsistent then there is potentially an even bigger problem. All in all they get 3 stars. I will be coming back to try out more dishes and hopefully update this review.

Stacie Harrison

AMAZING! Great food, great service, great ambiance, and a mind-blowing beer list!

Alison Warth

Great restaurant! The oysters are AMAZING - definitely worth the money to get for a starter. The birch burger was delicious and came with small crispy fries. The “Crispy Hen of the Woods” was an interesting appetizer but not anything special. It’s basically just a very thinly sliced piece of chicken battered and fried. The garlic butter that comes WITH the crispy chicken is great with the bread though! Service was friendly and fast.

Aleksandr Lyakh

Beautiful trendy spot. Delicious drinks and food.

George Taube

Some individuals I know are impressed with Birch & Barley. Personally to me it is an average restaurant. The service and staff is not bad. You could have a business luncheon here. Parking is difficult in this area.

George Junca

Great variety of food options and best beer list in town

Kimberly Tin

While the food was good, and the atmosphere was quite nice, sometimes the music was quite loud and the service was quite average despite not having a lot of tables in the restaurant that particular night. They are known to have a ton of beer options so make sure to try them out while you're there!

Nick Youngstrom

Great food and superb beer list. The waitstaff is very pleasant.

Mohammed Audi

Fun place, nothing crazy with the food.

Ross Montgomery

Amazing selection of beer and delicious food.

Cora Arneson

Amazing food, even more amazing staff

Bob

Incredible beer selection with tasting pours. Good food and friendly, knowledgeable staff!

Jay Whipple

Great beer selection. Double burger was great.

Akua Nyamekye

food so good, I didn't desire dessert (took it home), haven't been to another place since. I'm spoiled!

Paige Deckelbaum

Great spot for brunch and beer. Open air and a few tables outside on 14th Street

Stephanie B

Had a fantastic experience here. Went for dinner for my wedding anniversary (mentioned this in the open table reservation) and we were not disappointed. We were seated in a quiet, more intimate part of the restaurant, and our server offered us complimentary glasses of champaign to celebrate. Everything we ordered was spot on. Our waiter was perfectly attentive and had great beer recommendations. Between the great food and excellent service, it was a perfect anniversary date night.

A. Burkhardt

Great staff. Best burger I've had in a long time. The draft list (rotating often) is magnificent and the staff knows the beers and makes spot on suggestions.

Francesco Buccheri

The place is nice, but the food is definitely below average and service is poor. Our experience was bad due to a long waiting (about 30min) and by the fact that food came at different times for all people... we basically had 4 separate lunches instead of a joined meal. As I complained, personnel resolved to give my meal for free (it came as last), but the disruption was already done...

Karen Pigott

We were from out of town and we were actually going to lunch down the street from this restaurant. But this restaurant caught my eye and we decided to try it instead. We sat outside on a warm Sunday afternoon but all and all it was pleasant. Our table did catch a breeze. Servers were very attentive at keeping our water glasses full which I appreciated. There were 3 of us and we each loved our different meal. I look forward to coming back again.

Hernse Eugene

Amazingly AWESOME.

Charles Shields

One of my favorite restaurants in DC, Birch and Barley offers a nice blend of eclectic dining options and craft beer. The server offered suggestions that were on point. Best deviled eggs I've tasted. The short rib entree was so tender, it didn't require a knife. We will absolutely be returning!

JP Allen

The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and so willing to accommodate. The entrees were fantastic and the chef was able to sub in some greens in favor of my low carb eating. Also have a few veggie options. Be sure to try the cheese taking for dessert. Ewephoria was a favorite.

Yuriy Skripchenko

Great place where the food is delicious. Service was great. I will visit this place again for sure.

By Goree

Amazing. Offer compliments of the chef several options to try before your food...extensive bar menu...ate chicken and kale with cherries OMG. Definitely recommend and would definitely go back

Dana Prouty

We went for Sunday bunch. Make a reservation if you can. The wait can get long if you don't have one. The brunch servings are huge. Most people take home little boxes because it's definitely too much food in one sitting. The fried chicken and waffles was drenched in syrup. The biscuits, pastries, donuts and flatbreads are all made in house.

Drew Goodman

Solid new American food and benefits from sharing Churchkey's draft list, one of the best in the entire country. Service is very good too. Great place to take beer lovers.

K Smith

Brenden my waiter/server

Colleen Matos

One of my favorite restaurants in DC! The wedge salad is one of my favorite dishes as well as the burger. Hipster and beautiful atmosphere. The staff is tremendous and so kind. Great beer and even better cocktails. You won’t regret your visit!!!

Kevin Bailey

This place was great. Excellent service and drink recommendations. Food was an 8 out of 10. Not the best DC has to offer for the price but still very good. They have an extensive bottled beer list. Some very expensive beers on the list. Their draft list was limited.

Manuel Cruz

What's good? The brunch ... The chicken & waffle was excellent! Not too sweet. The devil eggs were tasty. The drinks were good. I think the brunch was moderately expensive for the portions. $15 for two alcoholic drinks when ordering an entree is not an amazing deal but not bad. I wish the devil eggs appetizer came with more than 2.

Kendra Glanville

The scallops made it out. EXCITED

Connie Kim

Food is on point. I ordered pasta carbonara and it was creamy, cheesy, and pasta was cooked perfectly. Tater tots are gigantic! Super fluffy, and one order can feed 1-2 people. Brunch cocktails are a bit weak. The 'Punch Below the Beltway' with gin, pomegranate and triple sec was too sweet, and the 'Catch Me Outside' had rum, pineapple and ginger beer, but all you could taste was ginger beer. Also, the mood lighting was taken to the extreme here. Dim lights are set the mood for date night or after-dinner drinks, but it's strange in the middle of the day.

Hugh Durkin

My wife and I had dinner last night and it was great. I have dietary restrictions and the servers and the Chef went out of their way to make my dining experience one of the best I ever had. I highly recommend Birch and Barley. The food was superb and the staff was the best

Kathleen Elliott-Obryant

Excellent

Andrew Nash

If you like beer, go here.

Katie Howe

Great brunch. Loved sitting on the patio on a pretty day.

Dc Campanella

Very good unique food and a huge beer selection! Menu options were a little more limited.

Greg Costanzo

Good Saturday brunch and great cocktail/beer selection

C M

Simply Amazing

Nicholas Wright

One of DC's finest. Amazing food and great service!

Mary DC

Went for tasting menu: husband had Gentlemen brew ($55), I had the vegetarian(45$). Beer pairing ($20)well done. Large selection of beers. Food so generous! We received amuse-bouches, bread, etc. I was full at the 2nd course! We saw some people leaving with doggy bag but it may be better to just eat what you'd like on your visit and taste a bit of each meal. Mushroom fricassée was generous, burrata appetizer was huge, had to share it! Pastas are made in house, fresh, and very generous too. Would return.

yirmi shifferman

A very good restaurant, which we came across by chance. There's a vast variety of beers, draft and bottled, the prices are more than reasonable and the food is excellent! The waiters are very friendly and welcoming, which enhanced our enjoyment with the place. Highly recommend

Paul Krzych

Not only is this DC's premier destination for delicious craft beer but the food is top notch, too. Check out my photo of pastrami hash and sunny side up eggs. It was even better than it looks.

I came here for brunch on a Saturday, and ordered the burger and fries. The food was good, and the service was as well. The brunch drinks seemed interesting although I didn't order one.

The food is cool. Chicken and waffle sandwich is good, but steak and tot hash is just OK, a Sunday healthy option. The brunch donuts are a little dry for my taste, not very moist. Bloody Marys are cool, but I've had better, but that sweater weather was delicious. Service child have been better. We asked for syrup, coffee, and to cook the eggs harder, and the waitress asked that we"remind" her of our request. Pretty much we should do her job for her.

Great food and staff. Adorable assistant waitstaff brought out unexpected appetizers with bright fresh flavors. Nicely adorned petite filet and fantastically dressed mushroom sauté. Nice Gluten free menu selections, bread substitutions, and accompanying beer options!

Awesome food, great staff, good beer.

Excellent beer list, and my brunch cocktail was delicious. The food was good but nothing spectacular, don't feel a need to return for a meal. We did have great service and were lucky enough to get an outside seat on the patio which was quite enjoyable for brunch and people watching.

Burger came our hamburger buns were burnt. Changed that to new burger. Place was a tad dark had to use phone flashlight to see menu. Otherwise meals were great.

I found the cheese board and the short ribs really really good. Price is reasonable. Very large draft beer selection. Definitely a good choice.

The deviled eggs and pork belly where to die for. Amazing service, our server was knowledgeable and had amazing beer pairings. Reccomend to anyone!

I went for brunch and added the boozy brunch option. For an additional $17 you get 2 alcoholic beverages, coffee and a nice warm cinnamon sugary dusted doughnut. The doughnut comes with a sauce. I didn't like it but my friends did. I can't remember the name of the drink. It was a pretty pink gun concoction. Super good! For appetizer I had the lamb sausage on top of bone marrow. Man on man was this delectable! For my entree I had Shakshuka. I would have liked a little more lamb in it but the eggs were cooked perfect, the sauce was chunky with tomatoes and chickpeas with a little spice to it. It was a really good dish. Definitely check this place out.
