This Restaurant is classified in the category of New American restaurant.
Nice little trendy place across from the arena. They have a walk up taco/burrito window on the first floor. Restaurant style dinning on the second floor. A bar on the third floor and a roof top bar on the roof. The decor is industrial meets old fashioned. Aesthetically it's a really cool place.
Bar Deco rooftop bar is obviously for children who can not use glassware because even wine and processo is served in plastic cups. No thank you, SMH. I was not impressed with the bartender who could not explain the items listed on the menu. Nor was she willing or able to explain how a dish was prepared or cooked. In today's society we have several dietary restrictions and allergic reactions to food so the least your staff could do is answer simple questions about the food you serve from the menu. I won't be going back.
Good tacos and great spot before/after the stadium
Awesome tacos and ambiance
The bar tender was very attentive and the drinks were great! I highly recommend their old fashioned. I ate a black and blu burger and it literally was the best one I've ever had.
it was okay. food was just okay and cocktails not really extra. It is good in general. Rooftop was packed on Friday night
Great rooftop venue. Happy hour specials aren't anything to write home about, but the food is pretty good and the drink selection isn't bad either. More than anything, I think it's a great rooftop hang out spot. Would definitely go back
Fun happy hour rooftop spot! Bar Deco has 3 floors with indoor seating on the 2nd floor and rooftop on the 3rd, it has great happy hour deals with $8 cocktails and a few dollars off apps from 3-7pm Truffle Fries with Bacon (5/5) - The crispy curled potato wedges hit the spot! They come with bacon, easy to request without. Roasted Veggie Taco (5/5) - Compact and overflowing with sweet potatoes, greens, black bean puree, caramelized onion, scallions, and topped with spicy red pepper sauce and cheese. Bursting with flavor in every bite! Margherita Flatbread (3/5) - Bland and boring. I was the flatbread was grilled and there was fresh slices of mozzarella cheese and pesto. $8 Cocktails (4/5) - Of the 3 cocktails, I've ordered here - the G&T Rose was my favorite. The Vodka Collins is too sugary sweet, while the Rose Spritz feel flat. Wish it was more bubbly! Don't expect craft cocktails, you're paying for the outdoor space. Come here early around 4:30pm to grab a table on the rooftop, it gets pretty crowded with only a few high top tables with 4 person seating. Good for small groups or be prepared to stand! One of my favorite outdoor happy hour spots around Chinatown. The food is much better at Bar Deco than the rooftop at Crimson and the crowd is less pretentious than Dirty Habit.
It's a bit pricey, but the food was amazing. I had the Taekwondo Taco and the pork was well seasoned and the sauce was delicious!! I would 10 out of 10 go back again!
Great place. Bartenders have quick service. Fun atmosphere! Excellent fried pickles
Awesome place to drink out on the roof, it also has space heaters on the roof to help keep you warm.
The veggie taco is amazing though the tacos are a little small for 5-6 dollars. I didn't care for the pork belly taco because the pieces of pork belly were too hard kinda like chicharrón.
Good happy hour prices and food, nice ambience. Rooftop is fairly small, I’d stay away with larger groups or at peak hours.
Was very much looking to enjoy the atmosphere and the food, however a little over an hour before our reservation for 10, the restaurant TEXTED to cancel our reservation. Res was made online and a follow up call was made to verify accommodation and a high chair. At the time of call it was all confirmed, no problem. Fast forward 4 days and now when calling to confirm cancellation text, the employee was stating the dining area isn’t open on Sundays and only the bar was. This is really poor customer service. Scratching them off the list due to poor customer service before we even entered the door.
This place has outdoor seating and tons of space in the restaurant. If there is no game the night you want to go this place will be pretty much empty. The pork tacos were excellent but I feel it’s a bit overpriced for what you are getting. If you are out getting ready for the game hat night or a happy hour with friends when the weather is nice, this is the place to go.
Multiple floors, usually plenty of seats for a couple/friends during the week day (obviously more crowded when the Caps play). Nice happy hour and daily specials, bartenders are great. Sidenote: the bathrooms doors are listed as "water closet" :)
This was our first time there and WOW, it was awesome! The decor, atmosphere, food, service, and cleanliness were all excellent. It's clear this place is well managed. Everyone in our party absolutely loved their food and cocktails. Their Cuban sandwich made with meat cooked in their in-house smoker was the best I have ever had. Definitely looking forward to going back soon and will highly recommend to friends family and business associates. Thanks for an awesome visit bar Deco!
Always a good time.
4 stars for the location and rooftop. Everything else is pretty average. They have some creative tacos on the menu that, in theory, sound excellent. The concept was excellent. The presentation was excellent. The taste - not so much. They were so bland it was really disappointing. Go for the rooftop and drinks.
Great experiences can be had here!
Great food and atmosphere!
What a Douchebag bartender Alan. Good, tasty food but zero service.
Great place for a drink that's not too pricey. Location is perfect for pre or post drinks before any plans.
I went for happy hour and the top floors were only available as they had private event on the other floor. Happy hour was great. Friendly service. It does get crowded so we switched to the roof. There isn’t much seating so be prepared to stand. Great drinks can’t say anything about the food as we didn’t order food.
Staff not friendly. Seating was poor. Close to hotel.
Great space and location. I like going to the top floor. There's a great rooftop, and vibe overall here.
Food was pretty good but expensive even with happy hour deals. The bartender was not nice to the females in the group and maybe he thought some of his comments were funny, but they were more belittling than anything else. The best positive aspect was the roof since it wasn't too crowded (Tuesday night) and had a nice breeze.
$6 wine $5 draft happy hour , great rooftop
Great for hockey games, outdoor patio is nice
One of my favorite place to catch up with friends.
Pretty disappointing, sub-standard drinks and an oddly rude server.
Today was not a good day ☹️. Rooftop service is horrible. I'm aware of the bar service policy however that should not prevent the server/bartender from being polite and ensuring utensils are provided prior to receiving my food. Unfortunately this wasn't my first time with this type of service. Sad part is it's different servers. Hopefully if I make it a third time the server on duty will be better.
On a not too busy Sunday afternoon, the service was absolutely horrid. Rude bartenders knew nothing at all about their own menu or even what they were out of. My food came out surprising quick, but was still cold. Cold, bland tacos and the worst french fries I think I've ever had. I would never recommend this place.
I dream about the French Deluxe sometimes, it was that good
Fun..fun Fun...Guy from Boiling Spring Lake NC Rocks
Too loud, too dark, too expensive for the quality of regular bar food... nothing special here!!
This was our fresh solution when we spent the whole day walking from the Monument of Lincoln to Capital Building, sightseeng. It's located on the rooftop of 4-story building in China town. You would get good food and drinks and nice view!
Food was good except for the pork belly taco which was all fat. Upstairs open air patio was nice and would have been nicer if the bartender who was taking tables hadn't of said if you want something come let me know. Really dude? You had about 4 tables!!
Great spot for an essentially price fixe brunch. $40 gets unlimited mimosas / bloodies plus one entree per person. They're not stingy with the booze either. Definitely on my go-to list for a tasty, boozy weekend day.
Great place. We went and it wasn't to busy staff was ok. The food was awesome. Can't say much about the drinks since all we had was beer.
It is ok. The place Needs more light! Way too dark
Beautiful rooftop!!
Great rooftop, the rose gin and tonic is a bit sweet but perfect for a sunny day
Roof top was great, ambiance throughout kinda cool. Nothing special and 6oz rooftop beers were 8.00 each.l
Very nice bar with friendly staff and a large variety of beers on tap. Haven't tested the food. Walking distance to Capitol One arena.
Went during DC food festival. Very good spicy margaritas.
Solid choice for a good happy hour with a (rare-ish) rooftop bar in Chinatown. Check out the daily specials for good deals throughout the week. It's a bar.
Food was good if expensive. Drinks were good, if expensive. Excellent and responsive staff. The AC works great but does drip.
Really great cocktails! Bartender was really attentive and friendly. Was pretty busy for early on a Saturday night but there is plenty of space. The only downside is the food - we ordered truffle fries and nachos. Fries were okay; flavor was good they were just served a bit cold (also they are NOT gluten free, they are beer battered, so just be aware). The nachos were not good at all; they had a weird flavor and they seemed like microwave nachos you'd make at 3:00am when you're too drunk to care. So skip the food and go for the drinks.
Quirky bar with great drinks!
Excellent service on the third floor bar tonight. The Cubano I ordered was awesome. The portion size was good and the french fries were on point. The bartenders were so friendly and attentive. Within a minute of sitting at the bar my friend and I were given ice waters and menus without having to ask. I don't normally post reviews so quickly after visiting a place but I had such a good experience that I wanted to give these guys props.
Not crowded, excellent food, great prices
Great drinks. Good portions. Ordered a fried tomato sandwich without bacon, but when I got home it had bacon on it. Sad, but still good after I picked the meat off.
Awesome views and the beer on tap...
Absolutely great. A little bit pricey but worth every penny.
Love it. Great chef, great service, rooftop v dining - stunning
Was on the second floor for an event overall a positive experience. Bar staff was very nice and food was good. Would definitely recommend to others!
Pretty decent food, 4 floors, and strong drinks. Their truffle fries are delicious, but not sure they're worth the price tag. Ordered food on the roof and it started raining and I couldn't move my order downstairs, so I had to wait in the rain which was unfortunate. Still a good place to go though, would recommend
Interesting cocktails! Rooftop bar gets rather busy.
Food was good, but they were busy and I think it took a while to get it out to me. Good happy hour specials. And enough vegetarian options to make it worth my while. The house wine was a great choice, and their cocktails were worth a cruise-by.
Great place to get happy hour and great vibe and energy. Gets super packed on the rooftop. Just if you want to talk to the people you are with it can be tough with how crowded it can get but great energy and vibe if you are looking to mingle.
I went here for brunch with my cousin back in February. A couple days after, my cousins credit card was hacked and all these charges were placed on it. We assumed it was from this place since this was the only place she used it recently. Fast forward to the second week in July I took a friend here (because Free State around the corner wasn’t open yet) for a quick beer on the rooftop (which is very nice). I check my credit card and see that my card was hacked as well. I have used my card at 1 other restaurant and a gas station since Bar Deco but I always pull on the gas station card readers for skimmers. So if I had to guess, it’s from Bar Deco. Go to Free State for beer around the corner or Denison under Fuel for fancy fun cocktails. I don’t trust this place.
Roof top was a blast.
A little crowded. Definitely book a table before hand. Try their cocktails, they are amazing. Also good food and good service.
Drinks were great, I got the spiked frozen lemonade, food was also delicious, and wait staff were very helpful.
Great Atmosphere and Shrimp Tacos!
One of my favorite bars in DC. Three levels with a restaurant, long bar, and rooftop for great options for your choice of atmosphere.
I found my experience there unpleasant. I am sure others would disagree.
Horrible experience. We were seated in two different sections and didn't get a server to come to either of our tables for 20 minutes. It is also extremely loud with people constantly yelling. Ended getting up and leaving without even ordering a drink
Very neat rooftop bar. They have good adult slushies, negroni and other specialist cocktails. I would recommend coming for their happy hour. If you ever have the chance to get in the roof on a beautiful night please do go.
Went on a Bills Sunday. Great place, staff was friendly, food was excellent. Great place to watch a game with other out of town fans. We’ll be back!
Good place to have a business social. Good atmosphere. Beer selection is better than most.
Enjoyed the Rose Gin and Tonic. Convenient to the Verizon Center. Cozy ambiance and bar for a large group or catching up with friends.
Went there for an HH with my colleagues and enjoyed the rooftop ambiance. It gets crowded fast because it's not a huge space, but definitely a good vibe on a dinner evening in the district. Good was great and everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks.
Awesome spot!!
Too many youngsters
Cool rooftop bar
I came in after a capitals game. Playing my team nonetheless. Everyone was cool. I ordered the nachos, which were on special and were good. Service was good, Joe (girl), and Nick were great.
Great service and drinks. Cool venue as well. Definitely a good spot for a date night.
Very nice rooftop. We were there off hours so it was pretty quiet. I assume it get very busy in the evenings.
Love the atmosphere, the food and the drinks. Oh and Salina is the best bar tender ever
Top floor bar and great veiw and outdoor pregame facility near.Capital One Arena. The service we received on the second floor on a Saturday evening left much to be desired. Long wait times and absent servers
Relaxing stop for drinks before dinner in Chinatown. They allow kids unlike many other rooftops.
Solid 3 stars. Sat at a table waited by the bartender, on the floor below the roof. The bartender was super attentive with our little side table, but it took about 25 minutes from ordering to getting food. When it arrived, everything was good, but wasn't quite as unique or well prepared as I expected for ~$20 per main dish. Lots of good places to eat in DC. I don't regret going to bar deco, but I probably won't go there again, at least for food.
Great happy hour spot. Came to celebrate a friend's promotion. Friendly and accommodating staff. Drinks are reasonably priced. Food is top notch and delicious ($3 off appetizers during happy hour). Atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. I can definitely see myself coming back to Bar Deco again. Two thumbs up
Fun place to hang out with friends or coworkers. Recommend the fried cheese and quesadilla!
Food was good and an interesting building. Perhaps it was a Friday night thing, but the music was turned up very loud even in the dining room by 6:30 when I was there, making it difficult to talk. If that isn't an issue for you, though (you want more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant) it's a good place to get a bite right in Chinatown.
Great food, large portions. This rooftop is one of my favorites in the city, but get there early enough to get a table!
Bar Deco is NOT known for their food, but they do have an excellent rooftop overlooking Chinatown with a rooftop bar selling cheap happy hour drinks, including hard cider. If you don't go early enough, you won't get a table upstairs, but if you do, it's a great spot for groups!
Great environment, good food and drinks!
Roof was cool, drinks good, empanadas bomb
Great atmosphere. Not crowded at all. And just a nice place to go during the week for a cocktail and really relax. But once you are outside, you can't come back in after a certain hour.
Great food and atmosphere
Sweet potato waffle fries with curried ketchup is a match made in heaven. The gouda jalepeno mac n cheese is creamy and comforting. Bar Deco has a great spread.
Great place, great drinks, great food. Small rooftop but if you go early you might be able to get a table.
Visited this bar while in town for a conference. We got here around 8pm on a Saturday night and we were able to snag a great table on the rooftop. This bar was so much fun! Drinks are somewhat pricey but you pay for the atmosphere. 10/10 would go again.
Very cool place with an industrial feel. The decor was awesome, the staff was friendly and the food was damn good. Expect to spend some money here but it's on par with other restaurants in the area. Great overall experience!!
I've been impressed with Bar Deco every time I've been there. The food is top notch gastropub fare and their cocktails are well prepared. By and large, the staff are fun and engaging as well. It makes for not only a great meal but a great experience.
Nice rooftop but disorganised with serving food. They don't bring cutlery or condiments
Friendly staff. Good prices. Very roomy great for big reservations
Best bar in the area, multiple floors with different vibes and a great roof, coolest bartenders
Good food. Great decor. Nice ambiance.
Great bar to grab a drink before a Capitals game! There is a nice open air top floor beer garden with competitively priced drinks for the area.
My husband and I tried Bar Deco and the food, atmosphere, drinks and service were great! Our waitress Salina was the best!
Cool, middle-of-the-day, grab-a-beer-with-a-buddy spot, at least that's how I ended up there. But I hear the nights are pretty lit. Looking forward to going back and trying the rooftop bar when it gets warmer
This place was top notch. It had the coolest vibe plus a couple of bars that would be tough to beat... Including one that's roof top. Highly recommend.
You should probably get a better bar staff on level 3 for a Saturday night at 5PM. They’re incredibly disinterested in servicing anyone or responding to simple “please” and “thank yous”. I’m drinking over-priced whiskey and getting terrible service. Such a shame.
Super food and service. First time visit, we will be back.
Great atmosphere and food! Love drinking Kona Big Wave on tap there!
Beautiful rooftop a cross the street from the Capitol one center. They have great happy hour and daily food specials. I’m a big fan of their chicken and biscuits as well as their cocktails. Outside of happy hour this place can be a bit pricey but the ambiance is worth it. Each floor offers a little something different for everyone with the second floor as a dining area, third floor is a sports bar and the rooftop is a bougie summer hangout.
Atmosphere was cool, food and drinks were kind of expensive. Their signature drinks were very good. If the tacos had been $4 instead of $7 this would be a 5 star review.
Stopped into Bar Deco for some afternoon cocktails and it was great! I ordered the Hemingway Daquiri and Draught Gin Rose Tonic. I loved both drinks and only wish that I had more time to spend here for more cocktails. The service was quick and great. They also have a smallish rooftop deck if you like being out in the heat.
Bar Deco is a phenomenal bar - everything you could want before or after a Caps game, or any other night out on the town. The whole staff is wonderful, especially the manager on the third floor and Joe Wilson on 1st floor security. They are true gems of human beings
Very friendly despite me being an out of outner
Great restaurant with very reasonable prices great specials during happy hour. I love the food choices and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the Cuban sandwich and also the short rib of beef sandwich. The beef sandwich was particularly delicious with a melted gouda cheese in there. Loved the cocktails and particularly love the homemade tonic water with the gin and tonic. The service was outstanding. We also enjoyed the decor of the restaurant. It is very well done. As always top notch stuff from the Landini family.
Good food. Came during brunch on a Saturday. The service was really good and I loved the Hangover sandwich! The chicken and waffles is okay. The bottomless mimosas are amazing and the vibe and atmosphere is dope. Mid-level prices and a good amount of food for the price. Will definitely come back.
Arrived at 545pm on a Monday night. Caps game at 7pm so it was very busy but several tables were still open. Nice hostess who walked us up to the second floor bar/dining room. Short wait and cordial waitress took order for happy hour beers, appetizer, and two burgers (it was half price burger night). It was clear from adjacent tables that they were a bit short staffed and that the kitchen was a bit backed up. Beers came out in about 10 min and app in about 25 min. Burgers never came out....ever. After 50 min or so and other tables getting their food (paying bill and leaving) we asked for a manager. The two different waiter/waitress we had were checking on us every 5-10 min or so and continually apologized for the delay but I don't think anyone ever checked with the kitchen or computer to make sure our burgers had been ordered. Manager was very apologetic and comped the full meal and another round of beers. However, if we wanted our food within 20 minutes (this 70 min after ordering for 90+ min total) the only options were nachos, wings, or tacos. We being hungry and having a pressing engagement (thankfully not the Caps game as we would have been very late) requested nachos so we could get at least some sustenance. I have no idea why our burgers couldn't be rushed but the manager candidly said our only options at that point were the 2 apps or tacos. In the end: Pros: they made it right by comping the meal, everyone was apologetic, the two apps we had were relatively tasty, service was as good as could be expected given the amount of wait staff vs crowd. Cons: It should never take over over 90 min to get two burgers on burger night even if there is an error entering them or whatever happened....we never even got them and despite our wait they couldn't make 2 medium burgers in 20 min even though the hockey crowd was gone and we were literally the only people left..!!??? Also it's really dark in the dining room (not a huge deal but more lighting would be ideal). We would likely not go back any time soon but we did appreciate the willingness to comp the bill and that the staff was nice.
Its a multi level bar with good food. I didn't look at the drinks menu so I can't comment on their selection. Otherwise I think it's a solid bar.
Fun place to go before caps game. Good food
Great specials and a younger crowd than this old fossil! Multiple floors of fun and good times too.
Attentive staff and a nice environment.
Fun rooftop bar
The Executive Chef, Shane Henderson, is an amazing and creative food artist and and sends out pride with his plates! My friends and I were there on Tuesday and enjoyed the pan seared tuna with honey wasabi, Kung Pao cauliflower, vegan Cobb salad, truffle fries with house smoked pork belly, parmesan and rosemary. Wow! So delicious! Great location and huge building, a songstress of a hostess, Michele, is a delight, as well are the managers! Lots of attention is paid in great service and camaraderie!
The nachos and cinnamon sticks are great. Great view on top floor.
Bar is kind of confusing(?) there are a ton of floors and not clear guidance on what is what! Besides that, it was great!
Good place for happy hour. Good food!
Great food, good happy hour menu. Themed night each day of the week!
Awesome low key, chill vibe type of bar. They're drinks were reasonably priced and quite delicous. Staff was great.
Booked an online res for a party of 10, 4 days before the intended celebration. Bar Deco was chosen because of largely good reviews, food choices and convenient location for people coming to celebrate my birthday from MD and VA (one person coming was 9.5 mos pregnant). I even called after the online res was made to confirm it was received, and ask that a high chair be included for a 2 yr old in the party. Asked if that was ok. Told yes. I explained it was for a birthday, and told that would be noted. I was told no problem several times. Roughly 90 minutes prior to the reservation, I was TEXTED yes, TEXTED, and told “we can’t accomodate your whole party at a table but can seat you in the bar, ok?” Ummm, no. Couldn’t believe what I was reading. Texted back. No reply. Waited 15 minutes....Stopped what I was doing, found a quiet place to make a call, expressed my frustration, was told, “ yeah on Sundays we don’t open our dining area, so we can put you in the bar...” Huh?! Explained res was made days ago, follow up call made that same day, and confirmed it was no problem...now I had people coming for MD and VA, and no effort was made to accomodate us, no apology, no nothing. I explained I’d be writing an unfavorable review and letting everyone I knew not to choose this place for any sort of special occasion, especially with a large party. Luckily, found another restaurant happy to accomodate us, and caught all the guests in time. So no, Bar Deco. Not ok. Not even close.
Such an eclectic yet simple place. Really enjoyed our time here! The drinks (Old Fashioned) & Poutine Pot were fabulous together
Great service, food, and drinks! Michael working at the long bar and the team were the best!
Very cool spot in China Town. The bar is multi-leveled. The best idea is to hang out on the roof but dodge the lines by going down a floor when you're ready for another beer. It's very interesting to people-watch the adjacent building as it has floor to ceiling windows.
The entrance is a little funky. You walk in and the front door man tells you to go to the 2nd or 3rd floor. The 2nd floor bar was nice and cozy. I had a Moscow mule which tasted delicious.
Food was adventurous. Not liked by my husband and his meat and potatoes only co-worker. I gave a low grade because it was so loud I couldn't hear anyone at my table. Awful.
A very nice multi-level bar. Good atmosphere, good drink selection, and good bartenders that know their stuff. When it get crowded, expect delays and standing room only
The pulled pork nachos are a great quick-bite to grab with a few drinks!
The rooftop bar is really fun
Interesting place. Has a good vibe. The third floor seemed a bit cramped for the event I was attending. Behind the bar looked like it had more room than the patron side of the bar, which I found odd.
Awesome bar right next to Capital One Arena. Has a cool warehouse feel inside. Went here just for drinks before a Wizards game and it was a little pricey, even for downtown DC standards
Was only there for about 45 minutes but enjoyed the drinks and the service!
Perfectly adequate but lacking some of its potential charisma. Also, very crowded.
Food and drinks are good. The service took way too long because of a large party, but we had to wait for them to get their food before us.
Nice spot on for a beautiful sunny day. Yummy fried pickles too.
Nice decor, friendly service and wonderful food! I had the steak arugula and gorgonzola salad and my friend had the burger. They were both delicious!
Really good happy hour place. Cool decor. Love the taekwondo tacos. Drinks are pricey and they don't manage the crowd well. You'll have to fight to get to the bathroom.
Very cool spot to hang out before a Caps game. If there is available seating try to get a seat on the rooftop bar. Food is excellent and bar offerings are on point.
Great food all the time. Consistent and a great brunch faire.
Just wish there was more seating on the patio - some wicker sofas?
The rooftop is a great place to mix and mingle. A great after work spot.
One of my favorite bars in the city. The rooftop is great, the drinks are good and the staff is very friendly. My husband and I once told the bartender we were doing research for a signature cocktail for our wedding (which was true). We wanted a gin cocktail that fit with our art deco theme. The bartender got really into the project and made us several different off menu drinks that he thought we would like. Very knowledgeable.
This place is awesome. Go here and enjoy!!!
Nice rooftop with vegan options on the menu.
Awesome bartenders and great food!
Great rooftop drinking with coworkers and not too far from work.
If you plan to bring a large party here, be cautious. While they happily took a reservation for 10 people to celebrate a birthday party, we were texted a little over an hour before the reservation to tell us that they wouldn’t be able to seat our party together and we could “sit at the bar” - not cool. They left us having to scramble at the last minute to make alternate plans.
Nice ambience, love the open patio. Food is good. Drinks are little expensive. Definitely try the 901 if you like spicy ginger flavor.
Everything we ordered was fantastic!
Great venue. Menu selection reasonably priced. Staff was friendly.
