Fantastic place! Went with my girlfriend and we were greeted immediately when we walked in. The staff was extremely friendly and provided excellent service. The food was amazing! I had an empanada de pollo (chicken) and am arepa de pabellón (shredded beef with plantains and black beans). If you've never had Venezuelan food, I'd recommend having an arepa or an empanada. If you like traditional dishes, then try the pabellón criollo. All in all can't go wrong ordering!

I love this restaurant. It is small but clean and nicely decorated. The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. Not everyone understands English but this is nothing because the food and atmosphere are great. The arepas are delicious but the meals are wonderful as well.

If you like Venezuelan food, this is a great place to try. All the fixings you could want - arepas, tequenos [excellent], pepitos, tres leches, and drinks, and good holiday menu for christmas. Family owned catering business, nice owners who will always greet you like family. The cons - it can get slammed at certain times, especially on the weekend, and your order is bound to get messed up. I also catered a birthday, about $300 worth of appetizers, and they showed up well over an hour late after party started. I still occasionally go, because I still enjoy the food. There tequenos are the best in the dc metro area hands down

Service is hit or miss -- first time we went the service was very fast and the waitress checked on us often, the second visit the waitress forgot to bring out the food for one member of our party and only checked on us once. The food still came out quickly but getting the check or anything from the waitress was slow.

Good authentic venezuelan fare. Food is tasty but pricey! Arepas are corn dough pancakes that are grilled or pan fried and topped with cheese. The shredded beef is good but the best is the plain cheese (traditional).

My coworkers and I have periodically ordered from Arepas Capitol and their food is always tasty & fulfilling! However, they are VERY stingy with giving out their house white sauce. An old location associated to them called Bee's arepas was more willing to give out at least 1 sauce per Arepa. I just ordered 13 arepas this time and when we asked for sauce the woman attending us looked very bothered at our request. We hope to see some changes to this in the near future. As we are returning customers and we enjoy the food. She only ended up giving us three small containers for our 13 arepas.

So...! Let me say, the Beef Pepito (similar to a sub) was flavor packed and unique...I enjoyed it. Now, overall the food was not presented well in its packaging. It wasn’t messy or anything, but the french fries were packaged with ketchup packets right on top (who knows if they are clean or not...sitting on top of food you put in your stomach?). I also had a Carne (beef) Empanada which was not what I expected as far as shredded meat...and the flavor was lacking for me. I would return here to explore the menu a bit, but they should change a couple of things. I should also mention that they should consider cleaning up the front counter a bit where you place your order. It is very disorderly and it had wet spots (miniature puddles) on it while I was signing my receipt, and they also allowed dishes to pile up right on top of the counter while another gentlemen was placing his order. That’s not very appetizing for a person to order food while hovering over dirty, used dishes...stacked high at that!

If you don't know where you're going, you'll likely miss this place. It is a small store front on the end of a strip mall beside an alley. Don't let that deter you, though. The food is great. There are sandwiches, empanadas, and arepas, plus a few chef's special items like ceviche and soup. Hablan Español, si lo necesitas. The service is nice but it will take a while to cook your food. It comes to your table hot, accompanied by any sauces you might need to heat up or compliment your meal. There's an option for carryout, catering, dessert, kids, and salads (but really, why would you).

This location has been used for mostly take out with a few tables to eat at in the past. The interior has been updated and more tables have been put inside for dining in. The food and service was good and deserves another visit. The tight space places several seats near the door with no way to control the temperature in the restaurant as people are coming and going. You should give it a try but not on a cold day! 4 stars for food, 2 stars for seating for an average of 3 stars.

Visited for my second time recently, this time for lunch. We ordered the breakfast (beans, carne, eggs, arepas) and 4 empanadas for $10 (on Tuesdays!) Cheese, ground beef, chicken and the beef, plantain and black bean) with a side of fried yucca. So fresh and flavorful! We love the green and the white dipping sauces, too. A little gem here in Woodbridge. We will be back soon and share with our friends.

If I could I wouldn’t even give this place a single star. We had a server who was an older lady it was 7:20 when we walked in I had to ask her if we could order. She took our order and drink order and I specifically said no ice on my drink. Our food came out and we were still waiting for our drinks. She then came with our drinks and I told her politely that I asked for no ice and she replied I didn’t make your drink when yet she handed it to me. So as soon as I walked in I told her I needed an order to go so I had to chase her down again and she told me to hold on as she answered a call on her personal cell phone. So she finally came over and asked for my order and I ordered and then received my order to find out I had no salsa. I asked her for salsa for my to go order and she said you should know the arepas come with no sauce . The WORST experience in my life I am usually a good tipper and she went out her way to make this experience the worst I’ve had. Please dot even waist your money coming here!!

My wife and I are true foodies; I mean we went to Komi last night, a very good, classy and pricey resturaunt in DC. However, Arepas Capitol can certainly hold its own. We have gone here many times so we can recommend many of its items. But if anybody is going to complain about how long it takes to prepare the food, then they are missing the point. The food is freshly made from the moment you order till it hits your table. This food cannot be rushed, its not fast food even if the size of its 9-table establishment misleads you otherwise. I have no basis for Venezuelan cuisine but I know real, authentic when I taste it, and AC is it. This place isnt known for it healthy veggie options but the savory dishes like the Pabellon Criollo, which is served as breakfast all day, to its "arepas" which are corn puff pastries which can be shaped into small disk-shaped appetizer or into sandwhich form. Its already delicious on its own but imagine it being filled with beans, cojete cheese, scrambled eggs or a Venezuelan authentic unbelievably savory chicken salad. Long story short, if you want taste of familiar ingredients but with some of Venezuelan heart

I visited this place for the first time last night. The food was delicious and affordable. We fed a family of 10 for $121.00. And we didn’t skimp. So quiet affordable for food of this high quality. Venezuelan food is quite good for American tastes. Don’t be afraid to try it. You will like it. Very friendly staff, but it is a family place. If you need service, you may need to speak up. Don’t be shy or you may have wait longer than you want to. Food is prepared fresh, but quickly. Excellent sauces. Especially the avocado and the garlic. Store is small and may be hard to find. It is right next to BJ’s.

This place is very delicious. I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. The staff is friendly and service was prompt. We all had the arepas, and the beef, beef and cheese, chicken and cheese, chicken salad, and pabellon were all really good. The seating area was small, but looked like it could be expanded to the next room if they so chose. They had some wine available, and the sodas are by the can. If you love trying out new places and you haven't been, check it out. Get the cheese rolled appetizers when you do.

Great Venezuelan comfort food. Try the arepas (corn patties with a variety of stuffings) or the typical dish of Venezuela, pabellón (a "blue plate special" with rice, black beans, fried ripe plantains, shredded beef in sauce and a fried egg...). Tip: for dessert, ask for a "quesillo" a cream cheese flan that is to die for... and is not in the menu!

I’ve taken two friends here and had delicious meals both times. The flan is amazing, and I usually don’t like flan. Perfect, classy “hole in the wall” place.

There are a lot of people sitting around the seating area and kitchen entrance just hanging out on their phones. - 1 star. The waiter is wearing workout pants, sweatshirt, and ball cap. What bugged me was, he kept scratching his head and not washing his hands. Kinda unsanitary. -1 star.
