Decent food but formulaic. Super large menu, probably too large. The staff were pleasant but not super attentive, and I was there on a night when it wasn't busy and lots of staff were on hand. I was slightly disappointed but not so much that I wouldn't go back, occasionally.

Excellent waiters who memorize orders. They come back to your table frequently to refill your drinks and give you a free appetizer. Menu has a large amount of cheeses to choose from for your order. Great balance of a diner and classy restaurant.

Was disappointed Food was good Server was nice But it wasn't clean .... as in we were brought over a syrup pourer that was covered in syrup and sticky and coming off where it landed near our drinks (luckily not in it). I ended up cleaning it by using napkins and my water. Also the coffee we were brought was old and coffee grinds were in it, the refill was not even lukewarm. I brought my parents for the first time, I don't think they would want to go again.

If you can't find anything that appeals to you on this restaurant's sprawling menu, you might be too picky an eater to eat out. The fare leans toward Mediterranean, but really they have everything, including an impressive pastry case right inside the front door. Im surprised anyone gets past that to a table.

Just unacceptable walked in no greeting, took a seat and was continued until to be overlooked, and someone walked in right after us and got seated. After calling the manager made every excuse of why we weren’t taken care of. Unprofessional !

I guess I was expecting too much. My eggs benedict was bland; and for 14 dollars I expected a nice chunk of ham...not thin slices. My server was very friendly and she made sure my coffe was topped off, even though I was dining solo and I appreciate that. The food in my opinion just isn't worth the price; however the atmosphere is nice for what it offers.

One of our favorite places to eat in Herndon. They have everything! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, fancy coffee, desserts. Nothing disappoints. We regularly take guests here when they visit us. Well, one small area of improvement is the seats which seem to be on their last legs and are kind of uncomfortable, but an easy fix.

Great restaurant. Their menu alone is outstanding with so many delicious dishes, soups and desserts. I had eaten at the one in Vienna twice between 2018-19. This week I am in the area for work and visited the diner twice. The first day I had a triple decker chicken salad sandwich with bacon and it was delicious. Yesterday, they were very short staffed and yet, the servers provided excellent service and the food was as amazing as ever. Got the steak fajita salad : )

We were not fans of this place. We went specifically because they have an everything hollandaise section on their menu, and I love hollandaise. I got the portobello Benedict. It was unappealing when delivered. They didn't put any garnish on the plate, so everything looked like a giant yellow blob next to white potatoes. The English muffin was so hard that I had to saw it with a knife. It was gross. The whole thing was gross and I didn't finish it. The potatoes were good, but it's kind of hard to screw up potatoes. My husband got a burrito and peanut butter pancakes. He said the burrito was gross, but we did both agree that the peanut butter pancakes were OK, so I guess it wasn't a total loss. When I got to the end of my cup of coffee, it was full of coffee grounds. Not a fun thing to get a mouth full off.

Amphora is a decent place, but in my opinion has lost much of its former charm. The menu is relatively varied and portions are good. It's just that nothing produces any excitement that makes me want to return. The bakery is the best part. The delectables in the case are worth the trip, and suitable as a nice offering if you're being invited for dinner, or hosting one. Three stars seems a little low, but 3.5 isn't an option.

Amphora restaurants/diners are forever in my heart, and one of my all time favorites. The second you enter either (especially the Vienna location) you're immediately transported through 40-50 years of space-time. It's a trip. The management has the winning recipe, and they spare no expense to make sure you're going to be a repeat customer!

The menu here is HUGE, but quality. The wife and I wanted breakfast food for dinner and both the Belgian waffle and the apple spice French toast were absolutely delicious. Portions are very large but prices are more than reasonable. Service was absolutely outstanding, attentive without hovering, keeping drinks full and making sure we were well taken care of. Will make it a point to return on my next trip to DC.

Wow, Amphora has an incredible breakfast menu. So far I have tried the Southwestern and Cajun (pictured) Benedict. The service is wonderful, the waiters I have had the two separate occasions have been very polite and attentive. The price is reasonable, around $12 for this. The resturant is clean and very nice. The very best part about Amphora is that it is open 24/7! Highly recommended.

Phenomenal diner open 24/7, love the all day breakfast... biscuits and gravy is solid. Definitely a post-outing, pre-home destination. It's hard to write a simpler, more informative review than that. I can only speak to the after 12am crowd of servers but I cannot think of a complaint. Maybe just that it's an hour after we got here and we're only leaving just now, having ordered 2 orders of biscuits and gravy... I would have expected to be gone in 30m, but it's just such a solid diner. Order for two with water came to <$18 before tip.

A better alternative to many dining options in the Herndon area. Perfect for late night, large groups and multiple children. Food is on par with a (better than average) Village Inn with many creative options on the menu. The staff is pleasant and welcoming and know how to have a conversation. Great place for late night/early morning meals as it’s one of the few in the Herndon/Dulles/Reston area that’s open 24 hours. It’s a huge menu with more than traditional diner classics - try the Greek dishes since that’s the family’s specialty! They also have terrific desserts, including seasonal items ... lots of seating although they do get crowded on weekends for breakfast.

The food tasted slightly frozen, but still edible. The chicken tasted extremely dry as well. The salad was the better part of the meal, but only a morsel of dressing was given. Never had this problem with other restaurants. The sponge cake was inedible and tasted horrible. If I come back to this area, this place is not scoring high on my list.

Knowing that this was a greek diner, I had high hopes. My initial reaction when eating this food was, “wow! This is mediocre.” Nothing caught me by surprise here and i was rather disappointed that the chicken lacked flavor. Other than this, the food was decent, the servers were nice (in a group of 80+ people, only one server served us), and the menu had quite the variety. Perhaps I just didn’t pick the right cuisine.

Overall love Amphora, love that its twenty four hours and i can always find something to eat, BUT i went the other day and probably had the worst server ever. Like he literally spoke so fast i couldn’t understand him, took 5 minutes to bring us menus, we had no silverware, and overall he just seemed so careless about his job. But im still gonna give the place 5 stars, but him he has a one in my book, ill be asking for another waiter next time i come in.

Place is dirty. Food feels like it was just thawed. I got a cheesesteak sandwich and the meat was undercooked and looked like it was from a can. Husband and daughter got eggs and they were runny. Their home fries looked like they had been scooped out of a giant tub. Couldn’t even finish my sandwich.

The worst service and contaminated food. Seated on a broken bench and ordering from a disinterested waiter, my vegetarian food arrived with shredded chicken pieces, which by itself might've been forgivable. But what wasn't was the unapologetic and arrogant manager's attitude. Even after bringing it to his notice, he didn't bother replacing my plate nor did he bother apologizing. All he had to say was "ok". After being dumbfounded with his reaction and repeating the problem twice he arrogantly replies "ok I will replace the rice"..with what!? another contaminated, stale rice!? Ofcourse I chose to give away my plate. My husband's food was not any better. It was like microwaved frozen food, which he dodged. We drove back home and were better off eating cereal at 2am. Hope the owners replace the manager or teach him manners.

Let’s talk about horrible service, the fact that the server was flat out rude from the start. I guess inquiring about the menu is something they frown upon. They sat us under a vent and it was horribly cold. When asked to switch tables was told. “It’s the same thing everywhere” We still smiled and continued to give them a try. Remind you, it’s freezing! The server rushed the order when taking it providing no information. The food was okay, however, when the service makes you feel as if your time isn’t worth it makes it hard to enjoy the food. I advise management humbly to please provide better training or just ask them too be nicer to the customers. We still left a great tip, because we understand that the servers time is worth something. Very unhappy. I wish they spent more time on treating customers well.

We wanted to go to silver diner (a place i abhor) but it was packed and the line was out the door because it was Sunday morning after church. We went here instead and i'm so so happy we did. This place was amazing. From the bakery to the diner everything was great! The menu is fairly large so everyone has something they can find. They could start offering vegetarian sausage (the only reprieve for silver diner) but you can't have it all I guess. I got white chocolate chip pancakes and they were amazing. I advise to get the white chocolate sauce on the side. I want a fan and was glad my pancakes weren't smothered in it because it did not taste like the white chocolate chips that were in the pancakes. They didn't even need syrup or a sauce. The home fries are good as well, watch out they have onions in them, but so very flavorful! We got cookies at the bakery as well which were good too! One thing I did not like was how that turkey sausage looked. The color was... interesting to say the least; it was grey. Apparently it tasted fine, according to my son, but no one wanted to eat a grey piece of meat.

Although I don't frequent the Amphora's' very often, or as often as I would like, I have been going to all their establishments for well over thirty years, and there is one thing I can vouch for with them - consistency. Whether the diner, restaurant or bakery, you can pretty much count on their quality, service, cleanliness and taste to be right up there with the best of diners... maybe even a notch or two better than most! Over the years I have tried just about everything on their menus. But I must say, I was surprised when I first heard that they had a Cuban Sandwich on the menu! This Cuban Sandwich Aficionado is picky (see my Cuban Sandwich List). Although not the traditional Cuban Sandwich (Panini is not Cuban), they're seasoning and cooking of the meats and important ingredients gives the namesake a good run for the money - especially in an area where the famous sammich is found few and far between. I most definitely would return for another! While there, we also had their Caesar Salad and Chicken Avocado Salad, both of which were outstanding. As I said, if you want consistent quality and taste - this is the place. Keep it up guys!

Amphora's is a classic local restaurant with an extensive menu. They have specials for the week. But their bakery section is amazing. Their cookies are individually decorated, the cakes and pies look unbelievable! Never anything but great service and no mistakes with the orders, even with to go.

The place and food were great which is a miracle considering the manager there openly threatened to fire one of the cleaner ladies right next to my table, calling her "lazy" and saying she chatted too much. Like I get that's a problem but maybe its best not to tell that to her out in the eating area. There were also some clear open arguments between the manager and my server there and I could see on the employees' faces they did not like him very much. My advice to anyone working there is to start looking for a new job. I get that is not always easy but the best time to find a new job is while you have one. Thanks to the staff, for at least making the food and place still excellent even if you guys do not have the best manager.

I had a very unhappy experience. First, 2 drunk racists were yelling, the man out of the couple said he hated brown people. Everyone that worked there acted like they didn't hear the slurs and cussing until I went up to management. I think management did a great job getting him out, but then kept coming over interrupting our meal and didn't even try to make up for the bad experience. And to top it off they overcharged one of our kid's meal.

I've lived in this area for years but for some reason didn't know about the Amphora Diner. It's not glitzy from the outside, but wonderful inside. I knew from the number of cars in the parking lot that it was going to be a great place. Loved my waiter. He was smart and efficient. I ordered Huevos Rancheros. It was so beautiful it was hard to eat! Just a little bit of Tabasco sauce and it was perfect. If you haven't noticed this restaurant, I suggest you give it a try.

The Amphora has an important place in our family as a go to for comfort food, particularly breakfast all day. The Diner Deluxe in Herndon, the restaurant in Vienna, and the Amphora bakery have been key spots in our rotation for decades. Saturday morning peanut butter pancakes with the kids, a warm meal when our power is out, and open all night for us to grab carry out when we need it.

Not very Deluxe indeed. Pricey foods, but do not have a level of quality as their food price. Restaurant is clean, and the servers are nice. They have also good and freshly baked sweets and pastries, though a little expensive. Also there are some foods and cuisine, I think they seem basically Mediterranean/ Armania South Russia style, worth it to try if you are not familiar with these types and you don't mind tasting something new. There are enough parking spaces, but you should be careful not passing the entrance from the street to the restaurant area, since the restaurant and its other neighbor stores and businesses are set back from the main street, and you may not find it easily. PS: I added one star because the owner/manager quickly respond my review. I like those managers who are careful about their businesses and customers. Another positive point: yes, they have a good long list for lunch, dinner, dessert, drinks; more than many other diner restaurants.

The service is always really slow here but there is a plethora of things on the menu. Whatever you are craving at any hour of the day or night, they have and will make for you. There's always a ton of seating so you never have to wait. If you're looking for a late night bite and just to hang out with friends, I would recommend coming to Amphora.

We had a great experience. The food is delicious. Service was fast for a Sunday. I should mention that we had called the night before and were informed that they do not take Sunday reservations, which is understandable, but to call and find out if there was something available on Sunday morning. We did not call. Initially the hostess told us we would have a 10-15 minutes wait. My husband spoke with the manager whose voice he recognized from the previous evening’s conversation... to our delight, we were seated immediately. Service was quick and professional. The blintzes are perfect, so was the smoked salmon omelet. The kids got chocolate chip pancakes and they were also pillowy and delicious. My husband got an omelet and corn beef hash which was homemade, perfectly seasoned and just delicious. The manager did scold a worker at some point. I believe a good manager should not admonish their employee in front of customers. It’s embarrassing to the worker and makes everyone who can see and hear the conversation very uncomfortable. It was overall a wonderful experience.

My actual rating is more like 3 & 1/2 stars based on different factors. First, the food has always been good here & true to a diner, there are vast array of choices. Plus, they are open 24hrs; great for late night/early morning cravings. On this particular visit, the one thing lacking here was the service. This day we had a sub par waiter. This server seemed very rushed and pushy in her service albeit the restaurant was not too busy at the time. Also my shake was not made right & she also failed to give bread to our family like other patrons in our area were given. Other days, we've had more attentive servers. Overall, I would still recommend Amphora.

So Late night in Herndon Virginia everything is closed and I’m wondering where can I get breakfast. Then Amphora pops up on google ok so a diner in Northern Virginia I’m from queens NY I have very high expectations from a diner. I walk in and I am greeted instantly the interior is beautiful and clean. Sit down at the counter and the waitress doesn’t waste anytime grabbing me my coffee the lavazza is a very nice touch the coffee is amazing the sports playing on the tv remind me of home. The waitress Saida suggests that Amphora has the best French toast in Northern Virginia Bold statement lets try. She was not lying the French toast was the right amount of crispy and soft the texture and flavor were amazing. The turkey sausage was cooked just the way I wanted overall everything was amazing. A big shoutout to the staff for making this experience amazing and to everyone reading this enough said come and try it out.

Food was good, no complaints. Service sucked. Female server had an attitude from the get go. Messed up my order and even dared to ask Are you sure and didn’t take the meal until minutes later. My friend asked her for the check with a Ma’am-the server completely ignored her while passing inches away from us. Didn’t come back to check on us. Never smiled nor told us her name. Second time here and same thing, food was good but service was mediocre. I told the manager and he just said I’m sorry can I offer you cake, I don’t want cake I just want to get out of the place. Will not come back.

I was recommended to try this diner. Not going to lie... At first thought, it's just another diner. But nope! They have a huge selection of food and I got the salmon as well as multiple desserts. The dinner was huge and enough to take home, while also being affordable and very tasty. The desserts are also bakery level good. I'll definitely be back. One star deducted though for the service. We were constantly waiting for the waitress and eventually it got to the point we just kept asking other servers, which were very helpful and friendly. Maybe just a one off with that waitress.

Strictly from a Delivery Driver perspective, this is a 1 star. Food takes way too long to come out. Deliveries from this location are ALWAYS late. When you walk in the door you are ignored and theres usually nobody taking care of delivery orders. Needs much improvement. Ive waited anywhere from 10 to 35 minutes for orders.

We were seated quickly. Service was quick. Food was good. Fries were very crunchy. Menu is extensive. However, we also attended paintnite event here. Arrived 15 minutes pre-event. Service was not as quick or available. Received one waiter drop-in the entire 2+ hour event. So that was very disappointing. We were hoping for cocktails and dessert during event. Other paintnite events at other restaurants were much more attentive with a dedicated server in the room.

Always awesome - especially late at night. I've been going here late nights for 15+ years now. There was a point where the waitstaff was a little surly, but that's improved greatly now. You will see some interesting characters here and there - but that's more about when they're open than anything. Menu is super extensive.

Fantastic Greek diner. It holds the tradition of having an expansive menu offering the mix of American, Greek, and other European fare. The meal of Greek food I had was delicious. The desert of a strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla mousse dome was exceptional. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Northern Virginia.

Love the food and the price. It is well worth the wait for foodies. I am a big fan of pancakes and they have the best that I have ever eaten. The eggs Benedict are superb. I love this place. Try the Bloody Mary, wow!

Absolutely the biggest menu around. Food is delicious no matter what you order. Glorious desserts. Specialty cakes to order, pastries, cookies, and pies! Service is great as well. Friendly atmosphere, great for kids too.

We enjoyed it food, but the service was lacking in this trip. It was lunch and our appetizer and meals were brought to the table at the same time. I love the gyros here but today they were a little crispy. We opted not to return the rueben that had blue dye from the flat top on it. I believe this was an off day for them. Normally everything is much better.

Amphora is synonymous with Northern VA. A real diner with good food and amazing desserts. The staff can be hit or miss and the a/c wasn't working one time we went, but I still love this place (and the one in Vienna) and will likely go back.

One of the few, true, always open places in the area. 2:00am or a snowstorm or zombie plague, it doesn't matter. Amphora is open. The menu is surprisingly thick, there is a huge number of offerings to be had. The waffles are crisp, the corned beef tastes like its made in house, and the tables are comfortable. Amphora (both locations) are havens for the weary, the hungry, those who just need a good meal no matter the time.

I recommend this place to everyone. It's a great option for any meal of the day (although crowded on weekend mornings) and the menu is the largest I've ever seen. Still, everything we've ever ordered has always been fantastic. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Very nice atmosphere and service. Vast menu and comfortable sitting area. I ordered cafe latte and a grilled chicken Mediterranean sandwich. The coffee was good but it had far too much milk. Had I asked for it to be that way, it would have been fine but it tasted more like milk than coffee. The sandwich was very basic. It was good but I did wish I had ordered something else from the amazing menu. So many options! My favorite part was the ambient, the service and the mashed potatoes. Hoping to go back and oder something more flavorful and get a better version of their coffee. Will edit once I do!

Plenty of parking. I have been in the Loudoun area for almost 3 years and have been back nearly 10 times. Each time had been a success. They have a 50s atmosphere. Servers wear a white button up jacket and black bow tie. They do have a huge menu. Breakfast is available all day. They have their own baked goods (displayed as you walk in). We've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, coffee, juices, and mixed drinks and have no complaints. The servings are proportional to the cost. You should not leave hungry. The restrooms are clean and have multiple stalls. No changing station for your baby. There is a ramp for handicap accessibility.

Bad food, bad service, small portions, and expensive. 25 minutes to get food when the place was half empty at dinner time. And then the kid’s pizza looks like this? We went to Wawa after dinner to get higher quality food.

We came here yesterday for brunch with a group of ten.Place was packed waited like 20 mins which wasn’t bad for Sunday morning. We had such an absolutely amazing waiter with professionalism and wide smile he took a really good care of us. The food was amazing especially the island hopper that our waiter muphasa recommended it was something to die for. We definitely be back.

We went to amphora at 5 am in the morning. We order 2 coffee. It was fresh and very delicious. Than we ask the waitress SAIDA to try decaff coffee she said Yes with lovely smile. The food pancakes and eggs crispy bacon amazing . The waitress very friendly. We come back next time .we love this place . Thanks for everything

If we lived here- we would be back!! We had dinner entree’s out of this world!! The dessert are to die for! The side Greek salad is enough for two and my dinner was enough for 3!!! The service was very good. The manager greeted our table at the beginning and end. Lovely place!!

Only saving grace was the sweet waitress we had. The chicken wings were undercooked/raw, the chicken tenders were slimy and gray, and the cheese sticks were the quality of a poor movie theater. Regardless of the time we come in, a restaurants standards should be the same across the board. I'm really disappointed in my first visit here. Lack luster. (Edited due to the reply below. We got our SODAS comped and not even the meal that made me puke next to our car. I had no alcoholic drinks. Strictly an appetizer and sodas. Like I said, the only saving grace was the woman serving us. She never stated she was a manager, but I'm not sure if the actual manager came to the table while I was outside puking.)

Delicious food, and wonderful staff. We're visiting friends, and they took us here because it's one of their favorites. I got the Madison grilled cheese, and added gyro meat. There was an upcharge, but they did not skimp on the meat, so it was worth it. Their tzatziki sauce is amazing too. They also gave my kiddo a free chocolate chip cookie, which he adored. We would definitely go back!

Classic diner. I've been coming here for years with my family. One of the only places that isn't a gas station that's open 24/7. I've always had great service when I went. Awesome food and Huge deserts! I love taking a look at the bakery and they have a glass case with all of the goodies. I highly recommend the Reuben, Grilled Buffalo Chicken Melt, and the Buffalo chicken salad.

I've been going to Amphora for a long time. I usually get breakfast or the souvlaki (which is amazing!!!). But today I was in the mood for a hamburger. O! M! G! Best hamburger I've ever had!!! The burger is huge, hand made, and cooked to perfection. It's served on a toasted kaiser roll and if you get cheese, there will be a LOT! I'd ask for the fries to be crispy next time , but other than that - an amazing meal. I'm going to have a hard time picking my favorite souvlaki again knowing that the burger is an option. In other news - one of the best diners around. Open 24 hours, great food (most menu items are served all 24 hours), huge and varied menu, great service, large portions. And don't even get me started on the huge, homemade(like) deserts that are made locally in their own bakery.

I’ve been to Amphora on multiple occasions, and they are always amazing. Great food, crazy amount of options, clean venue, and a fabulous and patient staff. Twice I had organized “small” group dinners that somehow turned into groups of nearly 20, and both times, the staff was so gracious and generous and accommodating of our needs. Always and totally recommend Amphora!

A sleeper place that many in the area don’t know exists. This place is probably the best 24hr restaurant in the area. Best melt in your mouth pancakes that I’ve ever had. Their menu is huge so it’s easy to have a hard time choosing. If you can get over their uncomfortable seats, you will really enjoy their menu

Came here for a Yaymaker/Paint Nite event, didn't eat anything. The space was nice and clean. The server giving out drinks was nice and attentive. The only strange thing was that the lights in the room we were using were on a timer and there were a few minutes when the light went dim. Not very conducive to painting. Still, good location.
