Every time I have come here it has been solo and so I've sat at the bar. So I can't speak to the service in the restaurant proper. With that said, the bartenders are always friendly, and they make good Moscow mules and other drinks. The food has always been delicious and quite filling (solid portion sizes). I'm a vegetarian, so I've tried most of those dishes and all are great. And they have a awesome happy hour! Great deals on both food and drinks. Nice ambiance. It's never super packed, kind of a hidden gem at the mall. Worth making a detour to check it out

I have been here a couple of times, most recently last night with my wife and some friends. We took advantage of the happy hour menu and got to try a bunch of different things. Everything was delicious as always but the stand outs are the samosa which have a great flakey crust and piping hot filling of either chicken or potato. Both are served with mint yogurt and tamarind sauces. Special shout out to our waiter Nicholas who was friendly, attentive and took responsibility when the kitchen messed up. He made the whole experience even better.

So I have been to American tandoor twice, both times I made reservations but when I show up the table wasn’t ready. I had to wait over 20 minutes both times. Food is decent but the drinks are better. Great happy hour specials. I personally wouldn’t go back for dinner...

Our server was super chill. I was having a bad, stressful day at work and she was really cool and had our food rushed and checked up on us. We we're able to be in and out in 30 minutes. When we left she gave me some positive words to help make my day better. 10/10 will be back just because the service was so good. Oh, and the butter chicken was decent too. Their garlic naan was lit.

This is the worst "Food" I have ever eaten! This barely classifies as food. It is no where close to Indian cuisine at all. They're literally disrespecting Indian food calling this Indian food. Bad service as a cherry on top! Each and every dish was completely bad. Wish I could give this a 0 star. Never ever have I given such a harsh review to any place this has got to be the first as this is indeed the worst!

Second visit was as good as the first. I have discovered some new starters that I really like, i think at some point I will order just apps and run with that. The Aloo Tikki is zingy with tamarind sauce and spice and sweetness, love the peas in the middle. You get four potato samosas, that is one problem as you need a party of four to get a decent sample. Only complaint is the dumbass frosted glasses which does absolutely nothing for me and next time will request room temperature glass. Service has always been good. Also the naan is not the real deal but lately have been cutting down on the bread, it is not the focus here.

I had my first Indian meal and I absolutely loved the food. It was delicious and the portions were perfect (not too much or too little). The only issue I encountered was the time I had to wait for the food to come out. I waited about an hour and 15 minutes which is long time. My waitress payed little attention to my table even though it wasn't that busy. All in all, I loved the food and decor, I will be coming back again.

Some of the food items taste good, just SOME. I gave 2 stars because of the service basically. I usually order from here when I am in the mall, I ordered a dish where you would get sauce on the side which is my favorite more so than the dish itself, so this time they forgot the sauce and I talked to the front desk lady about it she said she will get it. I waited about 10 min, another person came and said "the chef said he did put the sauce". I do not know why they would think that I would lie about the sauce when I bought the whole dish, and then she rudely hands me the sauce and says "here you go" with an attitude (She looked like she was the manager, but I am not sure). I didn't want to create a scene but being a local and Tysons mall being my favorite mall, I would never go to this place again. I paid for the service, I did not order side of attitude with it.

Beautiful Restaurant. Great Service. Terrible Food. I see they spend their money advertising around the entire mall. My advice would be for them to spend more money on their chefs. There are so many great Indian Restaurants in the DC area, so I am not sure why they cannot get the food right!

Very good food. Very nice service. We ordered beef nihari, taste was super, but meet was too soft. Three by steak was delicious and very well marinated and cooked. Chicken samosa was not that good inside it was too juicy which should not have been like that. Overall food was delicious price was right and service was good.

Good food. Very tasty. We were having an early dinner so the place was quiet, but our waitress would disappear for long stretches. The manager wound up asking us if we needed something and brought us what we wanted. The manager was on the floor cleaning and actually working, not just standing around, so props for that. I had the garlic chicken tandoori. Wow, that was 2 chicken breasts! It was listed as a "large" and a small would have been plenty of food with the 2 sides. Kinda pricey, but it's a small restaurant. You can get equally good in most Indian dive places for much less, but we were here for an event.

Worst food ever. Ordered delivery of chicken biryani. and got delivered the worst biryani ever. Cold, uncooked rice and uncooked chicken. It only tasted turmeric, a lot of it. I think just gave me the biryani left out from the sunday buffet. NOT RECOMMENDED, UNLESS YOU WANT TO DISAPPOINTMENT YOURSELF.

Sharing quick observations based on my last two visits (including yesterday) 1. Very slow delivery of order 2. Food is served in low quantity compared to price 3. For order if additional breads I had to wait 10 min so I refused when breads were served and decided to leave. 4. Waiter was not courteous at all. 5. I asked for additional orders while having meal but after some time waiter came back to reconfirm. Waiter literally forgot what I have ordered. It was very disappointing. 6. Name is Tandoor but their food is as sweet as dessert. I asked for spice chutney (spice sauce) and I was given mint chutney which wasn’t a spicy. It was a joke. There is no good reason for me to visit this restaurant again.

The service here was really bad, Dayana our waitress who chose to not remind us about the drink that comes with the thali and when we asked her about it later she was not apologetic instead says most people know and order it so she doesn't have to tell us about it. Trendy Indian restaurant where modern and traditional meet in a refreshing way for both menu items and decor. Separate spaces make it great for formal or informal lunch or dinner, or for a group happy hour because of large bar with fun decor. Restaurant is affiliated with a walk-up "street food" lunch restaurant attached to the outside, and when eating at the restaurant you can order from that menu if you wish.

We finally decided to try this restaurant after passing it off couple of times as we regularly visit the Tyson's corner mall. The decor,ambience were very nice but the menus and some of the seating(the booths) are showing signs of wear and tear. Food-we tried 1)herb naan-taste was good but size is 2/3 of regular sized naans.2)butternut squash kofta curry-tasted awesome but portion size was too small.3)fish appetizer-average 4) vegetable biryani-ok,but quantity too less. Service not upto the mark.Servers were not attentive and we had to wave to them for water refills(also the water glasses were too small) Price-way overpriced for the quantity and taste. I don't recommend this place if you are looking for good Indian food and specially if you are really hungry avoid this place as their portion sizes will not fill you up.

I have been to this place a couple of times now. The food they offer is typical north Indian food that you can find in most Indian restaurants. The food tastes average and is on a bit pricier side. On the positive side, the service and decor is good. Their outdoor seating area is really nice, I would recommend going to this place only if you happen to be in the area. This place is not worth going out of your way to eat there

Always love eating at this place located in the upper level of Tyson’s. Booked and booth was ready when we arrived. Sanam was our server and was great ( especially reminding me before I walked out the door that I had left my credit card). She was helped with a number of staff. For appetizer we had our favorite kale and plank and you haven’t really enjoyed the food if you haven’t tried that. For entrees the yellow tadka dal with butternut squash kofta. And for dessert the meeta paan which looked like it got smaller but still delicious. A great meal all ordered and served in under 30 minutes. Take your time ordering if you want to stay longer .

This review is for Sunday brunch. It's a normal price for the area ($25). I loved the texture of their dosa waffles. And their other food was good too. They also allow people to order a la carte, instead of forcing everyone or no one to eat buffet. Oh, I really liked their omelet too. I just wish they had that Indian spinach dish.

Very good authentic Indian cuisine. Service also was good and fast. Not only do they have mango lassi but they also have Blackberry lassi which was pretty good. The Raan of Lamb was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Very few places know how to do lamb without having it be too greasy or chewy, this one was absolutely perfect and the gravy was exquisite! Their cook reading knows what he's doing.

This is the Indian version of panda express. And what disgusts me more is the fact that Americans like it. Why the heck do they like fake Indian food, is it cause they can't handle the spice or something? Just as well, they don't even deserve it because they are so racist. Like legit, i was walking down a hallway and some random dude called me tech support. Like what the heck, treat people with respect. What irks me the most is when Americans "appreciate" Indian food . One minute they are making fun of it in a racist manner, and the next they are "enjoying" it. This is why white people are hypocrites.You know its bad when white Americans are cooking the food. If British people cooked it, then I wouldn't have cared because at least they respect Indian people.Its not even a fusion so screw this restaurant. I just hope to live to see the day when Indians are respected in the US, and until then you white people can come here and "enjoy" fake Indian food cooked by high school dropouts.

The food is good. It's a beautiful place but the service is terrible. The servers can't care less about the people. You don't see a single one of them smiling or trying to make this experience special for you. Maybe because we were there on a Friday night but they were incredibly slow. Although, the restaurant was not full. Our server mixed up our order, and then we had to wave at her like five times to get her attention as she was passing by, so she could come and get the right order. We got charged twice for her mistake. We waited another ten minutes and kept waving at her to bring us the check. The couple sitting at the table next to us had the same problem. We could have all left without paying and no one would have noticed. I'm sure we won't go back to this place again. It's a shame you make such a beautiful place, you hire great cooks, you come up with a unique menu, but you don't train your servers properly and they ruin the whole experience for your guests.

Such an enjoyable happy hour! Loved the lettuce cup chicken meatballs, so juicy and flavor-packed. The Maharajah punch was balanced and one of a kind. A note to the wise: it may be difficult to eat here if you don't enjoy cardamom. Otherwise, you'll love it.

If you want though, they have a smaller to go kinda space in the food court and prices are slightly lesser but of course, you don't get the fancy restaurant feel even though there's a sittng area there as well. Service was super fast and staff are really pleasant!

Recently we organized a Holiday party at American Tandoor. We were 60 folks and mainly vegetarian. I must say I was blown away by how the staff accommodated us. We gave a initial menu American Tandoor came back with a menu tailored to South Indian Vegetarian cuisine! We were amazed by how delicious the food was starting with the appetizers - Aloo bonda, Kosambri (Karnataka style), Kale Chat, Samosa chat to the main cuisine - Butter Kofta (very delicious!), Bhindo Do Pyasa, Dal Makhani, super soft naans & delicious desserts. Every item on the menu was very tasty and presentation was gourmet all at a great price! The staff was especially accommodating(thank you Mary!) and very cordial! Definitely recommend them for get togethers and party catering!

So glad we discovered this place. Staff was super friendly, food was amazing! Highly recommend the butter chicken, the garlic naan, the somosa Chaat, and the lettuce wraps. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious! My only recommendation to management is the kids chicken tenders were a bit dry and weren't that kid friendly, they tasted pretty bland. Everything else was spot on!

What a wonderful surprise! We went last Sunday for lunch and the food was delicious! They offered to have either buffet or menu; we pick menu and what a nice choice. They had several small plates so you can try different things and everything was great. On top of that, the vibe is great, some music in the background but not noisy. And the service was very good: Fideas and the waiter were very kind and nice! We are coming back soon!

Had the small portions of the small plates and starters. The kulcha stuffed with mushroom cheese and truffle oil is fresh and delicious. The bhel puri is fresh light and perfect...told them to make it spicy and they did a wonderful job and nice pomegranates too in it. Nice touch. The samosa chaat with coriander chutney was spicy and had good amount of chick peas. Not much potato which was good. The service was excellent. The ginger soda was refreshing. Overall great place to go with friends or someone special. The tandoor is good!

This resturant deserves 5*****because of the ambience and quality of food. Gave 4****because of the poor service. A resturant of this quality is being ruined by below Paar service, otherwise a very good Indian resturant also serving a wide variety of american and continental cuisine.. Came here again and this is my experience today,. I was served by Cora who made sure everything was okay from the moment I arrived in the resturant. If today I was not served by her then I am pretty sure that I would have had the same bad experiences with rude staff that works here and the incumbent manager who is more interested in the girls working under him than making sure that the guests are properly served

Its an Indian Fusion restaurant. Do not expect authentic Indian food and taste here. If you want to try something new with touch of Indian flavor.. this is the place. The ambiance is really good and they have patio sitting which is nice in Summer. The way in which food is presented makes it much tempting to eat. Chats are good , however on the milder side.

Our extended family group came here for the Mother's Day brunch buffet. Excellent variety buffet of hot entree Indian dishes, as well as an omelette station. Plenty of options for the vegetarians in our family, too. A desert station includes a chocolate fountain with a variety of fruits. This is the second year our family has chosen to participate in the Mother's Day Brunch at American Tandoor. Everyone enjoyed the food, including the little children.

Been meaning to try American Tandoor for a few months now and finally managed to stop in for lunch on a weekend. No wait for two people and received the most excellent service and recommendations/descriptions from chef Jassie. The lunch consisted of the best Indian food I've ever had, and for two people it wasn't at all over-priced in my opinion. Well deserved of all the positive reviews and hype.

I had the garlic chicken; the meat was good. The paneer was about the same quality as the frozen individual meals you can get at Trader Joe's. After being seated by the host with menus, different waiters walked by my table at least three times before one of them thought to take my order.

Been here a few times and the food is consistently good. One challenge they may face is convincing Indian food lovers that this is not authentic Indian. Because it is not. Some of the reviews below discredit their authenticity when the restaurant clearly explains it is a fusion concept. If you want real Indian, go elsewhere. I love the play on western ingredients with Indian cooking. Everything I have had is consistently good. Love the kale salad so much I begged to get the recipe. I will be dreaming of that later. For me personally, I don't have any issue with the price points because I know good value when I see it. You can't compare good ingredients in an upmarket restaurant in Tysons Corner to a North Indian spot in a strip mall.

The staff was super friendly and efficient but the food.. I ordered 3 main course, 1 appetiser and a dessert. When I looked up desi food this came with good reviews but non of the food was anywhere close to any type of desi food. It was so bad. My biryani tasted like boiled rice the lamb was so chewy and old tasting. The stuffed naan was not stuffed with the right things and naan sandwich just sucked. Needless to say I won’t be going back.

After being a regular customer here since their opening day, this place shook our belief in it finally. It was not as busy on a Friday night and we were seated right away near a booth right next to the kitchen. We have experienced slow service in the past but today was really disturbing given the restaurant was not even half full. We waited for 15 minutes and no one came by to even pour water. I saw a server walk past our booth not paying any attention to us and asked her if anyone was working that table. She goes Yes! And then disappeared again. We saw so many servers just standing and chatting or day dreaming but no one wanted to take any initiative to work a table that seemed like an abandoned child. We finally decided to walk out. On my way out I did let the hostess know about our experience and she seemed new and powerless. We left and ate elsewhere but it finally seems that the owners focus is now it's new upscale restaurant in DC and this one has become a stepchild! Hopefully, if they are reading the bad reviews and watching their worsening ratings, they will step up!

I had a lunch buffet here. i was extremely disappointed with the food. The buffet is overly priced and is absolutely not worth the food. There were very few vegetarian option. Even someone learning to cook Indian food for the first time can make it better.

They don't advertise it is "authentic" indian food, but even with that, I have given it 4 attempts with different menu choices and came back disappointed all times. No more attempts for me...

Lovely ambiemce and a great menu. We had the lamb seekh kabab with sides of kachumber salad and cumin potatoes, and the roasted garlic chicken with sides of paneer and peas and Mom's dal makhani. I personally loved the seekh kabab and the dal makhani. The roasted chicken and cumin potatoes, however, didn't meet my expectations. I'd recommend this place for sure.

Failed to meet expectations. Tasty food. But pre-cooked, Americanized, over priced, and very poor service. I visited with a group of 5 total. We were seated at once on a Saturday night. Restaurant was half full. Lots of servers standing in the back. 10 minutes past before we were greeted. (Not a problem, relaxing environment). Orders were eventually placed but waiter decided he didn't need to write anything down as he could remember it all. He also did not take any drink orders first. Two minutes later four of our meals came out (hence the food is clearly pre-made). Waiter reappears 10 minutes later to ask hows it going. We inquire about the missing food and an opportunity to order drinks. Missing food arrives in 2 minutes again. Drinks 15 minutes later. Bill was correct and approximately $250 for 5 people.

Mediocre, unauthentic Indian food, probably the worst Indian restaurant I've been to. My tandoori chicken, one of their "specialties," was very dry and had little flavor and no spice. The two "sides" it came with were absurdly small. The spicy sauteed spinach sides was not spicy and had little flavor. The paneer and peas tasted good, but I only got about four pieces of paneer and a bit of peas. The restaurant was nearly empty but it still took a long time to get just this one dish.

Flavor!! Finally a place that delivers. Everything is always tasty, the staff are always courteous. I’ve tried almost half the menu and found so many things that I like. Great vegetarian options too. The yellow tadka dal is the best I’ve ever had!! Must try.

If you want to have authentic Indian food then never go to this price. We went for dinner around 10 people. Order drinks including some sodas. They call as Soda, but do they guys really know what is soda means? They have colored water with sugar. Dude this is pathetic. We also ordered alcoholic drink, god know what was it. It looks like they have small spoon of whiskey in big glass and glass is filled with lemon, ice and water. On food side, they served cold, and looked like they have added the same gravy for every dish. Taste is like dude you can’t expect anything from them. Price is almost double compare to other restaurants near by here. Finally don’t forget about 20% gratuity which they have default. Dude you give pathetic service and how you guys add this 20% gratuity charge. Finally just don’t go, I think try other food in Tyson’s mall instead of going to this place.

Found a bug in my drink. Told the manager and his response was that there was no bug in it when he sent it to the table. So.... what - the implication is that I put a bug in the drink after it got it? Definitely not going back.

American Tandoor got 3.5 of 5 start, because the service and food. First, the host was awesome. She would top our Waters and was great at recommending us plates. Second, We ordered two plates and side: the Butter Chicken, Biryani lamb, and Nam bread. The butter chicken was good , but was lacking spice. The sauce and the chicken were great the only thing is that the taste it didn't come out. Second, the Biryani lamb was very few simple in taste. Further, I believe there service goat (chevon) not lamb on this dish. The lamb in this dish did not have the fatty aftertaste. Third, the num bread was over cook on one side.

I work in the mall. Every time I've gone to the little takeaway place to eat they've been out of ingredients and I had to wait for the majority of my break and when I actually got my wrap it tasted terrible. My coworkers have the same experiences. Employees are nice but seem tired. Which makes sense cause they're probably exasperated because they always have to tell customers they're out of food.
