Unbelievably healthy, fresh, delicious food and a great open air place to do some work.

Rob Cardeiro

Amazing food and great staff. Lots of vegan options. Very satisfied. One of the owners checked in with us to see if we were enjoying everything (we were). Definitely stop in if you're in Burlington or driving through.

Donald Sander

Why don't you cook great vegetarian food like this? Because you can't; admit it. I can't either, no shame in that. This is one of those good old fashioned vegetarian places. Stick to the ribs and satisfying. You got to get the vegan chocolate cake. You won't believe it.

I tried to call in an order for a friend who was at work but didn't have any money. When I called I was told that they didn't take Credit Cards over the phone, but they would be more than happy to take my order and I can send them a Check. WOW! The check is on the way with extra...you just made my day and renewed my faith in humanity!!! Thank you for being so excellent...Oh and the food is off the hook too.

One of our favorites! Whenever we find ourselves in Burlington, we always grab a meal at "Stone Soup." The food is delicious and the ambiance is cozy and casual.

Jacquie G

Great lunch spot. Soup and sandwhich combo or the quiche are my 2 favorites.

Megan Chilton

Chopped mushroom soup was the best!!

Chester Elliott

One of my favorite places to grab dinner when I'm really hungry and don't have time to cook. It is remarkably good for a "buffet style" eatery. They always have nice freshly steamed kale, some tasty veggie protein options, usually a delicious curry of some kind, and a good salad bar. Also the iced tea drinks they make are really good. I think there is a free piece of bread that comes with your plate of food, but I'm not sure because it is only offered by the cashier maybe 2/3rds of the time. My plates usually end up being like $15 because I pile them super high, but I always clean my plate and leave happy.

Great food, sourced locally, and as fresh as can be depending on what's in season. Owned by two guys who make up their own recipes. Great atmosphere and you can see the whole kitchen from your seat. The staff is friendly and love their jobs.

The food here is superb! Everything is locally sourced and fresh which shows through in the food.

Mysha Sissine

Divine. Great staff. Dont miss it.

Bill Brown

Friendly folks. Delicious curried tuna melt.

Jay J. D'Lugin, MD, MS

The food is pretty good but pricey. $25 for two BLTs, one iced tea and one glass of water. Lots of vegetarian and vegan choices. Great baked goods.

The most zesty and delicious tomato soup I've ever tasted. Had a slight zing to it. Wish I could make soup like that. Staff is very polite, and welcoming, plus restaurant is very clean. They accept credit cards. If you don't care for tomato soup, their soup will win your culinary heart❤

The Crystal Cottage of Vermont

I love the casual and cozy vibe that Avery and Tim have provided in the restaurant. There are a lot of beautiful little details to admire while you wait for a turkey melt or indulge in one of their yummy deserts. The energy to describe this creation is love and comfort. You can definitely taste the love and care that has been put into every bite. The owners are genuinely good people.

Doug Schnelzer

Definitely a must when you are in Burlington

Kristen Bartle

I can always count on Stone Soup for a wide variety of healthy and delightful lunch options. They create intricate and thoughtful dishes with local ingredients that are consistently delicious. I frequent the hot and cold salad bar and am never disappointed with all of the options available. Recently I veered from my standard hot-bar course and instead tried their Chicken Soup which was out of this world! Paired with their fresh bread, this pair is not to be missed. Their signature Thumbprint cookies (when you can get them) are also a gem you simply can't pass up if you see them! Unfortunately, there's just too many incredible items on their menu to try at one sitting, so you'll have to come back a few times to see what these guys are about... and trust me, you won't ever be disappointed when you do!

Everything at stone soup I stupidly delicious. The best lunch in town for sure.

This attractively decorated place in the heart of downtown Burlington is great! My mother is a daily visitor here. The owner came out to meet my children and I. Very kind. My burger was out of this world delicious. Great atmosphere, food, and people. We were already outside leaving when the owner came out just to say it was nice to meet us and thank us for coming. It was busy at the time also. Both thumbs up.

I love going here for lunch. The sandwiches are delicious and made thoughtfully. Last week, I picked up a meal from the salad bar. There were many options to choose from. I was thoroughly impressed by the hummus - I will be going back just for that. I was through the moon, highly recommend.

Outstanding food. We walked in here on a whim and got the food by the lbs. The dining area during the summer was beautiful. Very impressed and can't wait to go back

We have been coming here since my daughter’s freshman year at UVM. It has been amazing each and every time. The food is amazing along with the super friendly staff. Great vegan and meat options from the menu, the hot self-service bar and there is always a delicious daily special. Great selections of deserts, breads fresh brewed iced teas and, of course, soups. Without a doubt one of our favorite places to eat anywhere. We highly suggest that you take our word and enjoy a delicious meal if you are in the area. You’ll be happy you did!

Atmosphere a bustling informal Vermont cafeteria-style, with passion in all the food. It has NYC sophistication applied to fresh Vermont ingredients, with imaginative takes and combinations that you can embellish on your own from the many options. The owner is ever-present, welcoming and attentive.

Joe Wehry

Hot and cold bar (with daytime soup and sandwiches) plus cookies and cakes. Relaxed atmosphere of wooden tables and self-service.

After 15 years of eating at Stone Soup, we still delight in our meals there. Fresh, flavorful vegetarian choices in a cheerful, heart warming, community oriented environment. Doesn't get any better.

Irene Waldock

A super cute restaurant with amazing Jewish classics. There are even vegan options! The broccoli cheddar soup was awesome and my friend got the vegan sandwich and couldn't stop raving about it.

Luc Marleau

De style buffet beaucoup de mets sans gluten

David Foote

The hot bar is always loaded with good casseroles and vegetarian dishes. The downside is the hot bar price per pound. Casseroles are delightful and heavy, making my wallet comparatively dour and lightened. These self inflicted first world problems are fun to contemplate here because their baked goods always cheer me up in the end.

Indrani Basu

Delicious food! I loved the buffet hot lunch menu options and tried lots of different things for 7.99! They weigh your plate to decide your bill which was cute. AMAZING breads and the best chicken wings I've ever eaten. Also a great place to sit by the giant windows and watch people go about their day! It's all self service so please clean up after yourselves on your way out!

Dennis Kulwiec

Went for 1st time. Good place. Many vegan and vegetarian options!!! Yay!!!. Yummy sandwich and soup! Order and sit wherever you like. Clean up your plates afterwards. Wheelchair accessible. Roadside parking available. Decent menu pricing.

(Translated by Google) Nice place for lunch, also vegan option. Ask to toast the bread. (Original) Leuke plek voor lunch, ook vegan optie. Vraag om het brood te toasten.

My partner and I came for dinner, and wow, we were floored! The hotbar makes dining a pleasure as I was able to try all sorts of wonderful options. I'm vegan, and the amount of food clearly labeled vegan was wonderful. The noodles, the tofu, the STEW! I was greeted by a wonderful young man who truly cared about service and made me and my partner feel welcomed as he explained the basics of the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and get one of their iced teas. They're all delicious. I wish I lived in Vermont, I'd be at Z&E every week.

Never in my life have I witnessed an owner harass a customer. Management demonstrates extremely inappropriate behavior and zero damage control. Used to love this place for their jewish pastries. I won't be returning.

Melissa Crosby

Quaint friendly earthy cafe with delicious house made iced teas, scrumptious sandwiches made with locally sourced organic ingredients and soul warming soups!

Kristen Balzer

Delicious, locally sourced food with options for a variety of types of food restrictions. The Misty Knoll chicken wings and Thai peanut noodles are a family favorite. The atmosphere is so cozy and the cafe itself is beautiful to be in, with beautiful metal ceiling tiles, exposed brick, antique wood, and live plants. This is one of the first places I take people when they come to visit Burlington.

These guys love food and they love people, and it shows in the care and attention they place in this restaurant. I come here to eat whenever I'm in town. I always eat at the cold or hot bar (ie: buffet) as it's creatively/fairly priced (a good deal) and the quality, flavor and healthfulness is always awesome. The criticisms in other reviews about the sandwiches/other menu item prices are fair and valid. I think a few other items on the kitchen menu are a little steep. But overall this place is a great value, I love the dining concept, and stopping here is a must if you love healthy food or if you're on a tight schedule, due to the ready availability of their hot and cold bar (buffet) items. It's also great for vegans, vegetarians, etc.

A favorite destination for my family for years. Especially good for young kids that are hungry-right-now as it is cafeteria style. My boys would always get the chicken wings when available while I would like to try the various items on offer with most being good. We would often go back for a second helping of the things we liked the best. The Seitan Ruben is delicious and my meat-eating boys love this vegetarian option.

Really great food with great service. The soup and the vegan club was really good, even though I am not a big fan of tempeh, but the sandwich made it work! The food can be a little pricey, but all the ingredients are fresh and local, and you can tell!

We have loved this place for many years. The food is sublime, the location is perfect, and the staff is lovely. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed in a meal here. The only negative is that they are not open on Sundays, and we have to go elsewhere if we find ourselves in Burlington on a Sunday. Plus, I cannot control myself at the counter and pile my plate up to the ceiling with goodness. Worth every penny, in taste, freshness and healthy~ness. Love. No other word works.

Zak Hayer

I’ll be back for more! Great staff and food!

Stone Soup is one of my favorite Burlington dinner haunts. You can get gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, raw and macrobiotic foods cooked in yummy homemade and gourmet style. Ingredients are all posted for those who need them! The dinner/salad bar is my favorite, but they always have specials and sandwiches to make a feast of also. You can add local sodas, beers, wines and yummy iced teas. The atmosphere is relaxed and communal that lends itself to a family gathering or a quick and informal business lunch. In summer, there’s tables on the sidewalk to enjoy too. You can order takeout or grab a baguette to go or finish your meal with homemade cake, pie and cookies. It’s a great starting place for Burlington’s nightlight on Church Street!

Pricey but worth it if you can get in when its not busy. I never eat here without marveling at the quality of the food, the consistency is off the chart. Incredible pastries, and just about the only place north of Cafe Provance that knows how to make soup like a proper gourmet. Only downside is it can get really crowded and slow when busy, try to go off-peak if you can.

Russell Womer

Stone Soup has become my default lunch place in town. Between the hot bar, sandwiches and daily soup options there is always something worth grabbing. The owners and employees are very nice and while it can get a bit crowded at peak times (12-1) stopping in is definitely worth it. Grab the in house fish soup if you can!

Tyler Curtain

Donnie Spiegelman-Boyd

Fairly expensive for a really mediocre sandwich. We had two different types and neither was great. Further, it is an open kitchen and it is not appetizing to see food preparers not use gloves and to take tastes from the food they are preparing using bare hands.

DINA SUCIU

Very simple and good food especially for vegetarians Good and tasty pastries

Fanny Griesmer

Friendly staff, quality ingredients, clearly marked menu. Lots of good food for vegans and omnivores alike (as well as gluten free options).

I absolutely love this place! It has such a cute personality and the workers there are fun to be around. The hot bar is super tasty and changes often, and they have a variety of local hot sauces to try out. The Vegan Club is one of the best sandwiches in Burlington. I couldn't recommend Zabs enough!

The decor got us intrigued and so we went in. The smells dragged us even closer. We read the menu and it looked super tasty- we were super hungry so had a salad bar. Even things like the tomatoes were great. Apricot-citrus mix- amazing. Perfectly cooked sweet potatoes. Yummy toast. Chicken wings delicious. Give them a try, you'll like it for sure. Added a tiny dessert to go- also excellent.

Matthew Kahabka

Amazing seitan ruben!!

Martin Gold

Venue is lively and fun. Food is mediocre and overpriced except for a few pastry items.

Jesse Bailey

Walked into this place without much in the way of expectations. Prices were somewhat high, but with the charming atmosphere and open kitchen, I figured I'd give it a chance. Ended up being the best place I ate in Vermont. The pickles--more cucumbers, still, really--proved a tasty side, and the vegan club was incredible. Surprisingly, the sandwich reminded me a little of beef jerky, as far as taste went. The duality tea, granted, was a little too hitter for my taste, but it was far from bad. Add to all this a friendly staff, and I plan on visiting, again, the next time I'm in Burlington.

Isaac Lavoie

Hidden gem. Great vegetarian fair and wonderful fresh baked bread.

Anthony Basiliere

Best scones on the planet! Best chicken wings ever! (Misty Knowles) You will find healthy food cooked with love every day but Sunday.
