REVIEWS OF Whetstone Station Restaurant and Brewery IN Vermont

What an adorable place to have a beer in summer or winter! I must say, the area around the brewery is a little sketchy (looks a bit like Detroit in the early 90s), but this bar was bustling when I arrived on a Friday afternoon in the middle of summer! We contemplated sitting outside and overlooking the water, but we decided to stay at the bar, chat it up with the bartender, grab a beer and some snacks. They had a pretty solid menu overall, of both beers on tap and snacks. They also do flights

Terrible. If I could give it no stars, I would. We waited 45 minutes to get our food. When the food did come, my Greek pita sandwich had wilted lettuce and a very, very sparse helping of filling (maybe, at best, 2 teaspoons) with wilted, soggy lettuce on stale pita bread. I was shocked at this sandwich for $14!!! I could have had a better meal at McDonald's. The waitress comped our desserts for waiting so long (didn't ask how the food was). We each got a sliver of a carrot cake. It looked like a full piece was cut in 2. It was tiny! I would never pay $8 for this cake. When we got home, we were sent a text asking how the meal was. My friend answered it with our complaints but never heard a word back.

charles plude

Fantastic experience, great food, better beer and phenomenal views from the outside deck.

Sarah Sangermano

The food was great and there is something done everyone on the menu. Our waitress was fabulous, attentive, informative and made our visit enjoyable. We will definitely be going back and telling our friends to go.

Chuck Kelley

Best bar seat view I have ever had! Beer is very good and food is too! A must visit for anyone visiting Vermont!

Megan Hayes-Golding

Delicious food, great beer selection, and amazing views made dinner here perfect. I got the Dirty Hippie veggie burger which mixed sweet potatoes with black beans for a unique taste. There were plenty of other vegetarian-friendly menu options, too. Highly recommend Whetstone when in Brattleboro.

MrAjtaylor1

Amazing food, views and staff. I highly recommend this establishment!!

Valerie Cedrone

Waited over 3 hours and the hosts gave away our table to another party that was more angry than we were (they had only been waiting 1 hour). We received a text saying our table was ready and as we were waiting the hosts re-greeted us 3 times, forgetting who we were. Absolutely no coordination with the hosts, prepare to wait.

Brian Tetrault

What a cool spot! Great food and great beer selection. Only their own beer is on tap, but such a larger selection of other local craft beers. We live in northern NH and they had local crafts we had never heard of and loved! The overall vibe/atmosphere is great—place has large windows overlooking the CT river with about a dozen or so tables out on the deck for true outside seating (tends to be a much longer wait it would seem). We were camping staying right up the road and came here on a Sunday evening about 5:30 and the place was PACKED. Can’t think of a better gauge of how good a new-to-us place is than that. We had a bit of an issue with wait time and our food. We’re not ones to complain so we just drank good beer and waited patiently. App came out after about 20 mins and food considerably after that. The manager delivered our burgers and graciously apologized profusely for the delay and ‘kitchen backup’ and comped our entrees without us even asking or putting up a stink. A very great example of premium customer service! The food was surprisingly good and, despite the tardiness, was cooked the way we asked and was hot. Because of all this we will certainly be back when we find ourselves in Brattleboro again. Highly recommended!

Ari Rubin

Good beer. Bad food. Grab a beer, enjoy the view and then leave.

Joe B

My favorite poutine to date. Good beer, great hospitality, and an amazing view.

Charles Fields

Third time here, I will be back again. Awesome !!!

D Scott

Only had the opportunity to try one beer, but it was good. No clue what's with the tablets...there's already a screen on the wall with the menu..

Andrew Terlizzi

Have dined here a few times and drank here many times and every time I have a great time. Good food and awesome beers. Both the home brewed and local beers are always awesome. Any place serving Hill is on the top of my list. Located right on the river with great views throughout the restaurant. They have a deck with outside seating. Highly recommend stoping here for food or a drink when exploring the Brattleboro area.

John R Cerasuolo

Fantastic food, beers and views.

Christopher DiAdamo

5 stars for the upstairs, where there is a great view from the porch, and a relaxed atmosphere with beer and snacks. Downstairs in the restaurant was a completely different experience, the biggest problem being it was inefficiently run.

Liz Fisher

We lucked out and found this great place on a rainy day. We had a Berry White and it was delicious. Berry flavor without being sweet. The menu was interesting. We're tried the sirloin tips, tender flavorful morsels of meat. Great with the sauces they offer. Also tried pierogies for an appetizer. Best ones we've ever had. Brisket pastrami sandwich was very good. The sweet potato fries are house made and stellar. The ribs were had and again really good. Our server Shaustin was great brought us multiple tastings so we could find a brew we liked. Service was efficient and so pleasant. Great atmosphere. If this restaurant/ brewery is anywhere near you, I highly recommend you go.

lizzy ferro

Amazingly delicious food, great beer & the best bloody Mary I've ever had! Went for dinner on Saturday night night and it was so delicious went back the next day for lunch! The service was fantastic & the view from out table on the deck with gorgeous! You won't be disappointed.

Jim Tomay

Great staff greeting at door. Big smiles and pleasant demeanor. Food was great. Waitress has great suggestions for food and beer. Loved the industrial look of the place. Steel beams and galvanized walls. Food was terrific. Would definitely recommend this place.

Tim Ferguson

What a wonderful place. A fantastic selection of beers, great service, amazing location. We spent a lot of time in here, and loved the place.

Eva Bell

Beautiful view of the river and the food is pretty good too.. especially the wings!

Emma VanDelinder

Wow I'm so disappointed with this place. Took nearly two hours to get our food, with no explination. Food was small portioned but expensive. Waitress was unapologetic and slow. Even the beer was slow to arrive. And food taste was average. I'm so surprised because of the reviews.

stevesveryown

I give 3 stars because the service was not great. I'm here on business and was at the bar by myself. I know it was busy, was Saturday and the first full day of sun since I've been here, but it took 15 minutes before I was asked what I wanted to drink. I then had to stop one of the girls behind the var to get a menu. I explained I was in a business account and could only buy 1 drink on my card with meal and the others would be cash. She never looked at me again and so I left. I'm in retail and I understand when times are busy but not acknowledging patrons is not acceptable. I never write reviews but I was so put off by this. The food and beer was great. Just not the service.

Michelle Emery

I'm in love!!!!! With all of the amazing staff, and everything about everything!! ❤❤❤

Christine Kalinowski

My experience with this restaurant was very mixed. We asked the waitress not to bring another coffee refill to my father as he is handicapped and can only handle 1 cup a day. But she ignored us and brought him another cup anyway. We can not argue with him in a crowded restaurant and had to let him have that second cup. We asked for a straw and was told in order to receive a straw we had to pay $1.99 for a reusable straw. But looking around the restaurant at the other tables people had plastic straws when it came to booze. I guess if the restuarant really cared about the environment and not just being hip they wouldnt of gave me wipes with my wings or throw away napkins or 3 cups of wasted water. Never asked us if we wanted dessert or any refills. Gave my handicapped father the check(!) Why in the world would she do this? I loved the food. The greater was fantastic. If it wasn't for our waitress being absent and in another world. It would have been a 5/5 review. Who ignores people and gives someone who is clearly handicapped a second cup when asked not too?

Sudeep Siddappa

Ambience is great, wonderful River view. Great collection of beers.

Moey Price

Very good food, bartenders could have been more attentive

Matthew Dawson

Loved the ambiance and their home-brewed beer selections. Recommend the Big 'Stoner and burgers are mighty tasty - try Tim's Awesome Burger with peanut butter.

Michelle Ferrara

Amazing views, great beer selection

Jonathan Wentworth

Food good, beer good too, service was terrible for us. Waitress gave us waters and didn’t come back for 20 minutes. We ended up leaving our table and ordering drinks at the bar. Waitress finally took food orders but ran off after receiving maybe too much for memory. Finally returned after another 10 minutes to receive the rest of the orders. Food came out quick, but service just kind of ruined our experience here, the place was not too packed either so we just assume the place was understaffed or our waitress was just no attentative.

michael martineau

Will never go there again. We told that they could not seat us asked for a Manager and they could not find them, see full review on their website

Lisa Sullivan

What an amazing atmosphere! Then it's paired with great food and local beer. It was dark so we couldn't see the river, but we're looking forward to coming back.

Mike McInerny

Good beer selection. Nice views of the Connecticut River. Parking can be a bit tough but that's because it's a good place to stop. Didn't eat there but have to assume by the 1-1/2 hour wait that it must be pretty good.

Erik Servili

Good booze, good service, nice view outside, but the food was just ok for the price. Especially skip the buddha bowl. As others have said, the pricing is broken on it. I was asked if I wanted a small or a large (and was confused but asked for a large), but what I got seemed like a normal entree size, and with the suggested mahi mahi upgrade I was charged $25. Nowhere on the menu is that clear. It's heavily implied that there's one entree size (anything smaller than what I got would not be an entree) for $12.99 and adding 3 small strips of steak or mahi mahi would make it $17.99. We went for the music too and got there close to when it started but it ended after about an hour which was disappointing...

todd dale

bangers should be changed to banger because you only get one. Flavor good. Peanut butter burger was good but jalapenos would be welcome. Overall good decoration. Wait staff was pleasant. Would go back!

Michael Svetaka

Great selection of micro brews and good music!!

Elisha Biega

Good adult beverahe selection, fun amd tasty menu, great atmosphere and the service is good too

Rick Kmetz

Wife and I sat at the bar to grab a quick bite before we picked up the kids to head back to Maine. The server acknowledged our presence, silently put down a tablet in front of us, said the "beers list is overhead", and walked away. We waited for 15 minutes while the servers walked back and forth, serving beers, and food. While three servers stood at the end of the bar looking around like lost 4 year olds. We didn't even get water. We walked out after 20 minutes of waiting.

Kristyn Caserta

Had high hopes for this place seeing how it was a trendy spot with amazing views. The service was down right terrible. The food was so bad. The only thing this place has is a good view.

Karol Greene

Long wait . Food was good

Elizabeth Hughes

Husband n I came here for dinner while on vacation, was told it was going to be a 30 minute wait for a table for 2 and the place was crazy loud so we decided to just have a drink at the bar and order take out but we really should of just left. They were out of the beer we wanted, then we were told they were out of the sauce for one of the dishes we ordered, THEN was told they were out of chicken strips and that we could only order a small instead of a large ( which major bummer the chicken was the best part of our order). And before anyone asks we were there a good 3 to 4 hours before they were closing. Once we got the food and took it back to our hotel, it was hit n miss. If you do go here I strongly recommend the chicken strips (if they have any haha!) they were very well cooked the breading was very flavorful. However we also ordered the poutine which I don't recommend, they bread and fry the cheese curds which sounds good but that means the cheese cant melt over the fries so the poutine ends but just being gravy fries.

Mike Harper

Stopped here for lunch & this place is AMAZING! The workers were so friendly, the inside is so cute and the water views outside were beautiful! Even walked the bridge after our meal! Perfect location! And the food - wow!!! That may have been the best burger, fries and soup we have EVER had! We got the Sandman Burger with sweet potato fries and the Vermont Cheddar Ale Soup. If we are ever in Brattleboro again we are definitely stopping here!!

Leslie Walker

View of the river is magical but 1 of our beers was flat, the kitchen was unbelievably slow the food was meh.

Christopher Chanowitz

Place is awesome, great selection of beer, good food, great service. Our server , Kisa is the best, she took great care of all her customers. Thank you

Kelly Ruggiero

We really liked this place, atmosphere was fun. Great food and staff! We were told 45-1 hour wait and it was only 10-15 minutes, very nice surprise! We would have liked to take some beer home, maybe sell growlers in the future.

James Gagnon

Love this place. Great Vermont/American fare with interesting flair. Really good beers on tap. Super nice staff. Great views from bar and many seats in restaurant as well

Vera Heidolph

What a gem this place is! We came because we were in the area & wanted to support a classmate/owner. The location is superb with wrap around views onto the river & bridge. The atmosphere inside was lively and cozy & attentive & knowledgeable staff. How fabulous that there are not only GF beers, but an employee-April-who is a beer virtuoso, who guided us through the extensive beer menu rather skillfully! All 3 of us enjoyed our beers & meals. I was especially tickled to enjoy such a delicious vegan & GF meal. Meeting the gracious owner was icing on the cake. You’re the host with most, Dave! This place is the bomb!

Lucas Tomolonis

Great food, drinks and ambiance. The Bier Garten rooftop is the spot to be in warm weather!

Chris L

This is one of the most popular places in all of Brattleboro, expect a wait at dinner time, plenty of cool sights to see around the restaurant such as the bridge crossing into NH or explore the train tracks with amazing graffiti on the derelict buildings nearby. The ribs were on point, so delicious. They also have a good selection of vegetarian options as well that my wife enjoyed very much.

Darlene Sargent-Murphy

Our party of 6 had a great lunch! Everything was delicious; beer, cider, appetizers, entrees and desserts.

Joseph Webb

Fantastic beers, food and staff. A must visit for a great time!

Elizabeth LeBlanc

great bar and restaurant in Brattleboro! comfortable bar with a great menu of food and drinks! service was great and the home made pretzles were fantastic with the steak tips. would definitely go back here for another beer or more food! highly recommend.

Zahra Barzin

Excellent customer service. There was an incident with a crazy man making a scene because they took away his side chips too early when there were like 3 left and he wanted a refund. The manager handled the crazy man with professionalism and kindness. Goes to show how wonderful the staff is here. And the food and beer is AMAZING.

Tricia Joyce

Found this place on a day trip on a holiday Sunday in November. Had a 45 minute wait. Spent time in downtown shops nearby.

sharklar sharklar

I give it a five, beautiful view and ambiance, very friendly staff good prices and good food. Great selection of beers

Jeff Skip

I realize it was the day after the 4th, however waiting over an hour after ordering sandwiches for lunch is absurd, at 1:30 in afternoon

Billy Coulter

Extremely slow. Over labor day weekend so delays we're expected but it was a hour and 15 minute wait for a two top. Then took 30 minutes to get a beer. Still haven't seen our refills 25 minutes later. Apps were good and they beer we had was good. Just one of the slowest places I've ever eaten. We will be getting our meals to go if we ever see our server again.

Amy Rodjenski

Great food, lots of brew choices, assume back deck overlooking the river...Will definitely be back

HikingWorm

Finally got around to paying a visit, and I could't have been more satisfied. Food was incredible and the live music, albeit loud, was insanely talented. Can't wait to visit again!

Louis Hale

Good atmosphere, great views, above average beer selection decent food. Mediocre service. Still worth the trip though

Carol Sabol

Great beer and great food!! Would visit often if I lived local. Highly recommended!! Sat upstairs, great views.

Operator K

Amazing atmosphere! Great service! Fantastic beer selection! There is nothing to dislike about this place. The food is wonderful, I would suggest the lobster roll or the pretzels if you are sitting on top at the balcony. They have live music on Thursday's in the summer on the top balcony that overlooks the Connecticut River a beautiful view. The live bands are usually great. I highly suggest this place if you're in the Brattleboro area. Parking can be difficult to say the least but free parking is found across the street and a short walk to the parking garage.

Got Frisky

Environment was great, can't beat the views, but the burger I had gave me food poisoning... not ideal.

leslie amatrudo

Went to meet my son who’s in college. We have been going here several times a year since it’s the 1/2 way point. Up until this visit we have been satisfied but this evening, August 24, was a disaster. I even called the “big man” and left a message for a call back that was never returned. Besides waiting for an hour and a half, and finding out from the host that there was a table free for a while, that he didn’t contact us about, my son and husband got hamburgers and both got sick. My other son got fish tocos, hardly any fish in them and I got the steak and my dinner came out luke warm. If It wasn’t near 9pm, we would have gone somewhere else. not worth the Waite or aggravation. Bad food, bad host, bad owner, good waitress. The 1 Star is for her.

Nick Lyon

Great spot on the river bank. Fresh craft beers brewed on site. Varied pub style menu with usual favourites and some interesting twists. Warm welcome and fast friendly service from staff.

Ellen Wood

Great atmosphere, food is delicious, and the drinks are plentiful!

Matthew Harris

Have you meet Steve? This guy... We were a somewhat large party with young kids and babies. Our waiter Steve was hands down the best ever. Great place for beer, food, and atmosphere.

Steven Dennis

Fries were cold and undercooked with both orders. Burgers were good though.

Michael East

Place is awesome and I want to give 5 stars but can’t because of the lackluster service/cleanliness of the outdoor roof seating. Great view and atmosphere but tables weren’t even being wiped off regularly and they had trouble handling what seemed to be a moderately busy afternoon.

Mike O

We thought it was going to be a nice place to have dinner, but it wasn't. First the parking is horrible, second the food was terrible I asked for a Hamburg to be pink in the middle, it came well done. I showed it to the waitress and she just looked at it and walked away. Ask for recommendations on beer and no one seems to know anything about it until I finally got somebody from the brewery. The coleslaw look like it was a week old and drenched in vinegar. The ribs were okay but that's about it french fries so so. We will never return it was just that bad. I never Write bad reports but I needed to say something about this place.

Amar Rao

Good food, ambience/decor, and views

Don Cheong-A-Shack

Great restaurant on the Vermont side of the Connecticut River looking into New Hampshire Mountains. Restaurant downstairs with good food that is fairly priced. Bar up stairs for a late night out on the town. Great beer menu that has amazing selection of local and import beers.

Angela Walden Weaver

We stopped here to get out of the rain and grab a bite to eat. I’m so glad we did. The food was magnificent. I had sweet potato fries, garden salad, and mango cheesecake (heavenly). My husband had putine and chili. We agreed that was the Best.Chili.Ever! We also had a flight of beers. We sampled all 4 of the beers brewed on location and a German beer. My favorite was the home brewed IPA (whetstone?) my husband’s favorite was the German beer. I wish the weather hadn’t been so bad so we could’ve sat outside overlooking the river. We had a window seat to the spectacular view though. I would have rated this 5 stars but for the really slow service.

Edith Tanniru

We have had lunch here twice and both were excellent. I went back to have chicken fingers again and tried the sirloin tips instead. Wow! Best steak dinner at appetizer prices! Order it with the sweet potato fries and you have a meal and a half. The ambiance on the river is my new happy place.

Jeanine Corcoran

Tanya the “happy server” was fabulous!! Loved talking to her! We had a party of 4. My portabella mushroom lettuce wrap was a 3 star. Husbands meatloaf was a 5 star. Atmosphere was lovely. We are out on the deck.

SUSAN ANTHONY

Ordered a sandwich and dessert to go. The view from the bar is spectacular! Prices seem a little high but for fall in Vermont right on the Connecticut River... beautiful views of the bridge, water and mountains I did not mind too much but 30.00 including tax and tip for sandwich and dessert? Brisket Sandwich=6- lacked flavor/spices and seemed like a LUNCH portion of meat Pecan pie=6 -mushy center filling and 2 pecans with whip atop a skinny slice. SP Fries=3- cold and soft, not crispy. I will go again for the service and the ambience but maybe choose the burger next time. I only live minutes down the road so I don't think my travel made the fries cold. One other observation: the food runner came to the bar with one box containing my sandwich. I had to ask about the dessert. Usually when there are multiple items: 2 To-go boxes 2oz solo cup w/lid of ketchup and spork kit the customer gets a bag to carry it all in. I had to balance all of these items out the door to my car. I do plan on returning for a second visit.

Abigail Dabbs

Food was very good! I recommend getting the Station Fries on their appetizer menu. This is the Chicken Sandman sandwich.

Mr. V.O

The Beer & scenery were much better than the hospitality. The Hostess & server need better training and to loose their attitudes.

Aaron A

Beer was good. Wings were ok. Chicken tacos were good. My wife said the bacon bloody mary was one of the best she's had in a long time. Draft Beer selection wasn't as large as I was expecting--and the take home beer options were minimal. Ambiance and view of the river was very nice. Server was also courteous.

Henry Hernandez

Visiting from Nashville area after dropping our son at UNH. Had a DELICIOUS lunch with Liz giving us AMAZING service! The food was DIVINE and sitting outside watching the water and the bridge is worth WHATEVER wait you may have to endure! Can't wait to plan our next trip back!

Lauren Clish

Not really worth the money. Hostess was very rude. Food was marginal and cold.

Kalob Farrar

Good, friendly service and no wait time even walking in during a busy, crowded night. Large assortment of beers to try. I ordered the Taco Truck lager and was pleasantly surprised. My husband had the Hemperor made by New Belgium and that was good too. Between us, we shared a Grafton cheese flight comprised of a one year aged cheddar, shallot and white pepper cheddar, and smoked maple cheddar garnished with cranberries and walnuts. As a meal, I had the Whetstone Wings and Midnight Poutine. They deep fried some of the cheese curds and mixed them into the french fries, which I thought was a delicious addition. My husband had the Sandman (veggie burger topped with fried pickles, VT cheddar cheese, and chipotle ranch aioli. Portions were also very generous and we took home leftovers. The only possible complaint I could have is that it was extremely loud. But I kind of expected that.

Rich Kent

Great spot. The location and view alone are outstanding and make it worth a visit. Tap list is very solid - bottles are good too. Beer menu comes on a tablet. Food is good and a little pricey, but considering the location and view plus local food and Vermont and it's standard. Parking can be tricky, as parking lot is tiny and lot across the street is also small. Pro tip - you can park in a large dirt lot on the other side of the bridge (in New Hampshire) and walk across the bridge to the restaurant. Great view up and down the Connecticut River makes the walk worth it and part of the experience.

Melissa

Always to busy, food was forgotten, and took forever. The bathrooms are always disgusting. However the food was good ,the server was nice. We live in ct and come up for fun Weekends. We have been to whetstone a few times, i think its time to find a new spot.

Raymond Lounsbury

This place is the place to go in Bratt. Food and view are great, you’ve got outdoor seating over looking the river and it’s a small craft brewery. I recommend the steak. Perfect for spring and summer time. Know that they don’t take reservations and it’s sometimes a 45-60 minute wait but still well worth it. All the menu items are fantastic, they don’t skimp on portions. Staff and ambiance are just as good as the food and drink.

Brian T

Great spot, great location. ...and the deck is the best to enjoy a cold one and chill out. .. Wish the menu was a bit bigger, but everything on it is good. .

Rick Johnston

Great food, reasonable prices, great variety of micro-brews (theirs and regional). Did have to wait over an hour even after calling ahead. Rooftop bier garten is great on a nice day with the riverside location.

Breanne Daugherty

Great location, right on the river with tasty beer. The service was not good though. Wait staff acted like customers were a burden, and it took forever to get waited on at the beer garden.

Gary Darnell

Great food, great atmosphere, great beer!

Stefanie DeVito Martin

Great food! I ordered a veggie burger and a salad and expected a pretty standard veggie burger but the burger I got was outstanding! Full of flavor and definitely made fresh. The side salad was huge and full of veggies. And the staff was so friendly even though they were incredibly busy. Highly recommended!

Jerry Voelker

Very nice views with excellent food and friendly service. Nice choice of craft beers. Will go back again with friends who will enjoy the experience.

Samantha Yost

They have a really good selection of craft beers, both theirs and other breweries in and around Vermont, and the veggie burger I had was un-be-lievable. Plus, the view of the river was entirely worth the wait. It seems like this is a crowded spot, so calling ahead and putting your name in is recommended.

Josh Bosworth

Good food. Lots of different beer to try, the beer list rotates quite frequently. Good atmosphere.

Dean Shippee

Great food even better beer selection. Has a good atmosphere with a view of the river

Kelly Babcock

We have been here a few times before and a couple of times had similar experiences. We went on the website said no wait we headed to the brewery, got close and no parking so I called they said 20 min wait No problem. We found parking and headed in, checked in w the hostess said at least 20 mins ok. We got seated about 10 min great. Got to our table and waited another 10 mins before our waitress came asked if we wanted any drinks so I asked for a Beer menu she went to get one cane back 10 min later. Left the beer menu , when she came back we both ordered a mosaic IPA she said sorry the menu was not updated. Only 1 beer on the menu was Whetstone; ugh. We live 2 hrs away. After that the service was further down hill. Order was wrong and it's like she avoided us we were pleasant w her but not overly friendly. Wont go back for a long while.

Elizabeth Wright

Nice place for a burger or sandwich. Has it's own brewery on the premises. Try the pilsner or red and you won't be disappointed. Food was typical bar food. Good variety of appetizers and sandwiches. I had the turkey pesto wrap; very good.

Bret Bradford

Amazing place! Shastin, our server, was terrific. Took the time to answer all our questions and make fantastic recommendations. Highly suggest the beer cheddar soup and the sirloin tips. Cooked perfectly and sooo tasty. Incredible views only added to the great experience I had.

Freek Lankhof

Beautiful views from the deck. Nice beerlist with quite a few guest beers, and good food.

Uday Sonar

Nice place overlooking the lake. Excellent service

Leticia Acosta

I loved this place! Drinks & food delicous...service was great, and the view absolutely breathtaking! Will come back on my next trip to Brattleboro

Chris Howell

Girlfriend and I were ignored by the waitresses for 15 minutes, just for them to tell us that they wouldn't have a table for 2 for an hour and a half. Food looked good, would have liked to try it.

The Merrigans

We told Elizabeth, Liz, a review was a must for the great service we had the other day. Liz was all smiles, very important, and swung by our table at an appropriate time during dinner to check in. A little town history, then back to work she went. Our dinners arrived steamy hot, and no lie, were the best food we had in a while. Glazed chicken, hot mashed with a side of mushrooms. Wife had chili, delicious, and some funky good fries topped with cheese I think, So good. Table by the fireplace, thank you whoever placed us there, it was freezing out that day. Brattleboro has a ton of good places to dine, but Whetstone is our goto spot, guaranteed results. Finally, if traveling rt.91 north or south and decide to give it a try, their not far off the highway, and parking is free, free, free, and right on the river. Atmosphere is welcoming staff, cozy, big fireplace, cool bar supported by an engaging group that day. All good.

Antoinette K

This place is incredible! We ordered the spinach artichoke dip w/ pita chips, wing sampler, I had the maple salmon and my hubbie had Tim's awesome burger. All VERY delicious! And the beer was excellent! We brought some home.

Fred Turk

We had lunch at Whetstone yesterday. The food was good, but menu was not clear on what additional charge was for adding fish to the Butta bowl. We ordered it at the $17.99 price and was initially charged almost $25. When i asked the manager why the additional charge. She said the fish was an extra $6. I asked where it says that on the menu. She decided to tell me how there menu was professionally done. Again, i asked her to show me where it says that. She couldn't fine it and told me she was just the manager? After seeing my point, she took the extra charge off. I would reccommend they review there menu for clarification. Also, I was not impressed with spending 10 minutes to clear up something that was clearly there mistake. Given the wrong charge, poor management, and extremely loud atmosphere, i would not return..

Adam Zaloum

Great place. Would recommend. Lots of good beers

Christian West

We had a super good experience here! From the moment we walked in the door everyone was very kind and friendly. We were given a 20 minute wait, but suggested we head upstairs for the views and some beer while we wait... which was all of 5 actual minutes. Once we were seated our server, Shastin, was very sweet with my wife’s food allergies and the kitchen was exceptionally accommodating. The beer was good and the burger was... dare I say...divine. I said it. Can’t take it back. A+

JFloydJr_315

Food was good..mix up on order..very busy place..waiter was very nice however very busy ..I would give it one more try to see if this was a bad ordeal..

Sun Yajin

Decent enough food. Poor service. Told a 20 minute wait time and waited for 40 minutes while same sized groups were seated beforehand. If the food wasn’t decent and the beer worth it, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Amazing experience after several horrible restaurants while traveling around VT. Quality ingredients, very tasty, and fast service. We went at 6PM on a Sunday, and there were several families with young children, so our two year old had fun too. Very friendly staff :) We ordered the ribs and the steak and cheese sub and both were delicious.

Excellent brew pub with a wide selection of beers, cider, and mixed drinks. After checking in to get a deckside table we went to the roodtop bar and enjoyed some drinks and apps from their slightly different menu with barman Joshua. We got a text and made our way down to our table on the CT River. The food was delicious and cooked to order and our server Jake was very friendly and helpful. Manager Melanie checked to be sure that all was well. We can't wait to go back!

Whetstone is my absolute favorite restaurant in town. Always a great place to grab a beer or sit down for dinner. Staff are friendly and food is always on point.

I think Marty is my new favorite bar tender. We only had a couple of beers but, Marty was a wealth of information. Loved the brown ale and the burgers were good, though I had to send my MW back because it was Rare. Came back today for lunch and had the brisket sandwich and pretzel appetizer. Good for lunch and dinner, right on the mighty Connecticut river. 9/3, I have to take a star away. Brought the wife in on Labor Day. Now to be fair, they seemed to be short staffed so, I’m only going to focus on the food. I got a burger again because what I wanted, the brisket was out. For the second time out of two, it came out undercooked. I ordered Medium Well (again). This is the second time I’ve received Rare. If you can’t cook a burger within a couple of grades of what the customer asked for, what can you cook?

Very busy place, excited to make the trip again, good food and brews and perfect location to punctuate a new England motorcycle tour.

I recently stopped in a on a hot Friday night to check out the new upper deck which i found to be very nice.My question is this why are you guys lighting propane heaters on a hot night? It was so uncomfortable that i had to move to another table away from these heaters. Other than that the service seems to be better upstairs than downstairs.

Ali & Stéphanie Makupal

Very, very busy place so best to call ahead. We didn't know so we had to wait quite a while, but we appreciated that they text when your table is ready (it allowed us to leave and come back). Food was pretty good and service was decent.

Alex Jaffe

Waited over an hour for cold steak tips after waiting 45 minutes for a table. Sat outside at first until we were attacked by mosquitos which our waitress could not have cared less about. Had to walk inside and ask to have our order cancelled before being seated inside

Was ok. Food was good, Beer not so much. Has full bar and other beer options other then thier own

Lily is great! So friendly and attentive!!

One of the best date nights in awhile, We traveled all the way from Chicopee, Ma & the food was excellent & the staff was super friendly! Would definitely come again!!

Currently sitting here at my table in total dismay of my past 2 hour experience here. The wait was long and it took an hour to get out the food. The wings were bland and fatty, the sauce was non existent. I ordered a sandwich with fires and i got literally 10 fries on my plate. Unacceptable. The wings were undercooked and bloody. Burger was overcooked with cheap condiments. The service was poor, the waitress was inattentive, slow, aloof and would walk away as we would try to order something extra. Wouldn't come back for food but may come back for a drink upstairs as it has a nice view of the mountain and river.

Alex Dawson

Great service and great food. They had a peanut butter burger personally one of the coolest things I have tried. Highly recommended it.

Really cool restaurant and bar on the NH/VT border overlooking the water and bridge. Went on a beautiful Sunday over Labor Day weekend. A bit busy, so service was harder to get, but the gluten free beer recommendation was spot on. For the non-GF beer lovers in our party, the beers were good. Not all the beers were available upstairs on the deck like they were downstairs, so that was a bummer considering some of the taps downstairs suited our tastes better. And the flight I got was only 3 beers (I assumed they were 5). The chips and dip were amazing. For an out of state traveler, it was a fun experience!

Great atmosphere. Excellent friendly service. Peaceful view of the river. Small but very good selection of micro brew. And the food... It is hard to decide what to choose, and it was all so good! This will be a favorite place to stop on the way through.

Waitress was more concerned with leaving on bar counter and laughing at friends waiting on customers

Richard Mcavay

Have to share that the first two times I went here in the last year were fabulous. Our waiter Steve was great and the food was awesome. We went last night and were disappointed that they said they were out of wings ! Once we ordered we waited about an hour for our burgers. I was told by the waiter that he was sorry they were out of wings but getting them tomorrow. Nick was a very nice waiter but was crazy busy. Decided to go again tonight to get the wings and showed up to hear they didn’t get any . Two days , two trips, zero wings . We walked out and ate elsewhere. We live hours away in CT. Hope the next time the restaurant will try to keep us happy customers again.

Whetstone was amazing! the view of was fantastic and so was my meal. I really enjoyed my visit here. The staff was courteous. I hope to be able to comeback again someday

What makes this brewery special is that it is in two states- New Hampshire and Vermont. The ambience is good. Food is good. Beers are great. I loved them.

Elizabeth Ruffner

Awesome food and service! All the burgers are always delicious. Nick was the best server! Very attentive and friendly!!!

While adventuring in Vermont, we were told by a more local friend to check out Whetstone Station and I'm glad we took her advice! We've been here so many times now that I felt a proper review was necessary, so here goes! Parking: Parking on the main property is a bit limited, but a large public parking lot is just across the street. The bridge over the river offers a great view while you wait to be seated (our wait time was only a few minutes even during the busy evening), and if the wait times are a little longer, a stroll up the main streets offers plenty of shops to kill some time. Decor: Being a converted rail station, the building makes great use of the old 19th century industrial stylings with a modern touch. If you're on a road trip, it's worth snapping a photo of the beautiful interior. Service: The service there is excellent every time. Drink orders get taken almost immediately and the servers always check up on us throughout our meal to make sure we have everything we need. Food: The food quality is what makes the two hour drive there worth it every time. The steak tips are juicy, soaked in a savory marinade, and always cooked perfectly, along with the wings we usually get. The fries are hand-cut with chive oil and Parmesan. Try the black pepper aioli sauce for some dipping sauce and you'll want to eat these until you drop. If you're in the area, check this place out. If you're not in the area...check this place out. We drive two hours just to have dinner here. It's worth it every time.

Whetstone Station Restaurant and Brewery has a great location, ample outdoor seating, a lot of fantastic beers, with food and service. My Whetstoner session IPA was simply the best I’ve had in a long, long time. I’d put it up against All Day and Flower Power. It was complex yet easy to drink. Service and food were mediocre. It took more than ten minutes to get our first draft, and longer to get our order in for lunch. If the wait staff worked instead of stopping by three or four times to tell us how busy she was, we’d have had our beers sooner. She initially billed us for beers we did not have (but did correct the error). The menu items were new and inventive. However our grilled cheese sandwich came out quick, but lukewarm with the cheese not even melted. The fries had been sitting around a while. I’d go back for a beer. Definitely. The food? Maybe I’d try when it was less busy.

Great atmosphere, beer selection, food, and service!!! We have found our new regular place for dinner and drinks!!

Karen Rathbun

Fun atmosphere, nice people, really good food!

Unfortunately, my family and I had a terrible experience. The food and the beer were good. Good beer in VT is almost expected at this point. You really have to pull off something extraordinary to stand out in that region now. The waitstaff was even very attentive and the service was pretty good. The issue was the restaurant was filled with flies, particularly the table we were sitting at near the back corner. They all seamed to congregate there. It was pretty bad, they were crawling all over us and our food. We brought it to the manager's attention and they did what they could to help by opening the windows behind our table but it didn't do much to disperse them. We paid our bill and left as quickly as we could, it was a very unpleasant. If you visit during the winter months or you are able to get a seat on the deck while it is warm out, it is probably just fine. In the mean time, management needs to seriously address the issue with the flies.

Got a recommendation from an NMH alum. Called ahead for a large party, they said a table will be ready. We arrived within the time frame only to find out they gave our table away and that we would have over an hour wait. Very disappointing considering they told us we would have a table ready for us. There is no benefit to call ahead for seating. First come first serve regardless of call ahead.

Holly

Really enjoy stopping by the Whetstone when in the area. I go for the beer and live music atmosphere mostly. The food is pretty good too, and there are some options for the non-meat eaters, not sure about vegan though - check the menu.

Natalie Clark

Great food, terrible service. We were told 20-25 minutes wait time for a table, we ended up waiting more than an hour. When we got to a table, my sister in law sat in the chair which was a puddle of water from the last people who had a toddler. We ordered and our food took about 45 minutes to come. Overall, not great service.

The Bike Karma Podcast by Thomas Brown

Good food, good beer, good service. & on the river! We make a point of stopping in on the way to and from UVM. Had the Peguin... well balanced easy drinking porter. Pic is of house chips app.

Mike Stapleford

First off I want to say I normally love this place. I has become mine and my girlfriends favorite place since we moved to the area 2 years ago. That being said tonight was a major disappointment. We went in and waited to be sat. And after over 5 minutes of waiting with multiple employees seeing us and not doing a thing we decided to leave. I understand if its busy and loud because of the band but not a single employee coming and saying we will be with you in a moment is extremely discouraging. All I wanted after a long days work was some good food and some good beer but sadly I had to go all the way back to keene and get something mediocre.

adrian rosenson

Absolutely amazing!!! First time here wait staff is amazing .. Patrons are friendly.. Food and beer very eclectic ... Five

Nick Bennett

Busy, which meant a long wait, but not horrible for a Friday night. I got a burger with peanut butter on it, as well as some spinach and artichoke dip, and both were really great! Price is manageable too.

Matthew Polansky

Great craft beer! Made on premesis that alone gets five stars. Good food, cool atmosphere, and great staff. Also on the Ct. River and in two states technicaly. The beer selection is constantly evolving, small batches then someyhing new. Found a new stop in Vt!

Matthew Scranton

Food far surpassed expectations. Quality and creativity. Ribs, beer and Vermont authentic atmosphere.

Christopher H

Surprising beer bar for Brattleboro. Although it's got of a bit of a kitchy TGI Fridays vibe, the front of house staff was fantastic and attentive. I think the restaurant tries to be quirky a bit too hard. For their beers, I didn't find them as inventive as their menu would suggest when it explains the restaurant. That said, their "guest" menu really shines. They've provided great examples of Vermont and New England craft beer that's worth visiting. If you're stuck between Wunderkammer, Hill Farmstead, The Alchemist, Frost Brewing and Four Quarters, that's a good problem to have.

Nicole C

I really wanted to try this place but needed to check something in the menu. No one answers. I tried all the prompts numerous times and still no answer. Must not need the business.

Thomas Running

Atmosphere was genuine, service phenomenal, and the food was downright delicious. Then there's that view over the river. Whoa! Two thumbs up!

Diane Laramie

The service along with the food was amazing!!

Erin Sullivan

It's been an hour and 15 min and still waiting for my food and a second beer seeing I finished the first !!! Go somewhere else unless you want a dip dining experience

tim stratton

Let me say something good first, the place had a good atmosphere. But christ the service was horrible. I went there with my girlfriend and was treated with an attitude from the girl that showed us our table. Then we were completely ignored for about 25 minutes despite not being that busy and the waitstaff even looked at us and never said a word. Cant even say how the food was because after not even being spoken to even after I tried saying something we just left.
