REVIEWS OF The Foundry Pub & Grille IN Vermont

Edward Ricupero

We visited this pub twice during our stay. Once for apre ski, the other for dinner. This pub is a little tame for true apre ski, but the beer was cold, the wings were delicious, and you could hear the people you were with. We returned for dinner and again the service was great. Our strip steak was perfectly cooked, but rather pricey at 30 dollars for 10 oz. Our server suggested the perfect bottle of wine to pair with our dinner. We decided to indulge in the Whiskey cake for dessert. Do yourself a favor and do the same.

The Foundry is great. Situated right at the base of Jay peak it serves good food in a super casual environment. We had 3 kids under 9yrs old so we needed something non-fancy. Menu had lots of good choices and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Not only would we go back but we did end up going back 3 out of the 7 nights we were here. You're at a ski resort, so pricing is going to be on the higher side but that's part of the deal. Flatbreads (aka pizzas) are probably the best values on the menu.

I’m not sure why the review of this place are all so terrible. We quite enjoy this place. I guess you gotta remember where you are eating. It’s a ski resort and so you should probably rate it under a different category SERVICE: 5/5 Was great. Our server was friendly and checked on us a few times FOOD: 4/5 wasn’t bad. The flat breads were huge. The serving size was great. Well we are Canadian so most American food dishes are slightly bigger than our’s PRICE: 4/5 Was fair for resort pricing ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 not bad. Lots of ppl are hanging out for a beer OVERALL: again this is a resort restaurant so for where it is, the food was fair

Decent menu at this trail side pub style restaurant. Menu was limited probably because of the off season timing of our stay. But service was fast even with the non-regular staff. Hours in the off season are short but reasonable. Beer menu was good and the chili is a good choice if you need a pre meal starter.

Very average food, but at least they try to accommodate people with allergies (gluten free, ...), ask for the special menu.

Pascal Doucet

Good for afterski beer and appetizer... not for dinner. Go to Alice Table if open or Howies on Stateside

Great food, the new bbq options are all pretty good... But the burgers are always good... Tried a new double stack burger which was very good.

Very expensive for marginal food. Nice staff at least.

Hostess was great. Server also. Beer was really cold!

Jason Chance

Went for dinner. Salads were good. Entrees were not great. Pretty flavorless. We would have talked to our server about it, but she never checked on us...

Tim van Pinxteren

Good delmonico steak. Atmosphere good. You will see similar menu items at the different restaurants at the ski redort.

I usually don't write reviews but the moral behind my experience here is "Don't judge a book by its cover" After my husband read to me the reviews on this restaurant he was convinced he did not want to go but i wanted to give it a shot anyways and man are we glad that we did! Our appetizers where so good! (Clam chowder & Crab Dip) our entrees where just as amazing (Chicken Sandwich & NY Sirlon) No wait at the door and our server was wonderful. I am so glad we chose to give this great restaurant a shot! Our 3 year anniversary dinner was finished off on a good note here. Thank you!

Kent Tse

Food was good considering there are not many choices around the resort during the Christmas holidays.

Zachary Samenfeld

Although the incredibly over priced food was good, the service was slow as molasses. Even to get water refills we had to flag people down and ask, even with the abundance of people standing around doing nothing. Once we obtained or food or waitress was never to be scene again. I wouldn't recommend this food to a starving man!

hammy3502

Delicious food at good prices! From burgers and fries to a nice coffee in the morning, they have it all! The breakfast foods aren't the best but the food is killer for lunch and dinner!

Enjoyed the flatbread pizza. More than I expected. Our server Emily was beyond great. People like her make you want to go back. Nice atmosphere.

John Dawson

Great staff, great Poutine and a beautiful view. Fantastic place.

I liked this place when it opened but it’s really gone downhill. Food is very average to horrible and the resterait was so dirty last week. No wonder one of my friend sent got food poisoning... just bring a lunch. Honestly all the restaurants in Jay operate under the same ownership so they all share the same food. It’s to the point that it’s now a reason to avoid Jay.

I waited 10 minutes at the host desk. Where I had 3 waiters look right at me. I had to walk up to a waited and ask if I should have been waiting like the sign says. So she sat us. Then we sat there for another 10 minutes with at least 4 waiters walking by and still no one came over to us. At this point I just got up and left. We went to the pizza resturant witch was delish! All I. Wanted was some food after driving almost 4 hours this was the first restaurant we saw. This was the worst I've ever had. I can't believe a place like this would be at a beautiful resort like jay peak!

To not be acknowleged after 25 minutes is unacceptable. I get it. It was a Tuesday and the place was a quarter full with two waitresses. One of which made eye contact with me twice but only smiled. Not a friendly smile. More like a screw you smile. The bartender could have helped but he was busy looking like he was busy. A simple "I'm sorry we'll be right with you". Or how about offering drinks. There was so much fail. We got up and left. But it was ok because NOBODY NOTICED!! We stayed at the Jay Hotel to celebrate our anniversary and wanted a nice meal. Instead we drove to Newport. It's too bad. We are local and live just down the road. We won't be recommending Jay to anyone in the future.

Derek Barka

Everything was terrible. Flat breads gross. Ribs fatty and gross. Manhattans made with jack and tasted like water.

Only restaurant open this week at Jay Peak so had to eat there. Kids grilled chicken dinner was bland and dry. And who gives turnips as a vegetable for a kids meal? Clam chowder was good. Dessert (cookie ice cream) was bland. Overpriced too. Service was friendly. Went for breakfast and although it was not busy it took 30 min for our food (eggs, bacon, toast and homefries)? The homefries were really good. But again, overpriced and slow service. Only 6 options on the menu for breakfast. I would not recommend.

Doug Kenyon

Had to go here twice during our stay due to lack of options. Food was good but expensive. Kitchen was slow slow slow both nights despite half full restaurant. Service was good first night and not so good second night. Appetizer and burger toppings were forgotten, water refills hard to come by. Manager did a better job than server with being attentive. Flatbread was really good though the one called spicy wasn’t and the one that didn’t mention anything spicy was very! Hightop table chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. Overall it was ok.

The waitress was rude and forget the orders and didn’t even notice until the rest of us were done eating!

I wish I could rate zero stars. Food was horrible . Beer gets 1 star I guess.

Came here with some friends for dinner and ordered the catch of the day. The fish came over burned. They replaced the fish with another one but this time it was raw. We were told the fish was taken off the bill then it was still on the bill when we asked for the check. Worst experience eating out ever. I feel bad recommending this place to my friends since I was here 4 years ago and it wasn’t this bad.

Gabe Shakour

Food is nothing particularly special. Comparable to Apple Bees or a Chilis. They were willing to make alterations to menu items to help meet dietary restrictions (vegetarian/vegan) but they left the sausage in one of our dishes. The service (or lack of) was by far the worst aspect of The Foundry. I attribute this to how hard it is to find good staff since no one lives close by. The waitress was fairly attentive to our needs, however the hostess, kitchen and bar staff failed to back her up. Overall it is decent considering how few restaurants are near the Jay Peak area. If they could just improve their service it would be a great deal more enjoyable.

Jael Thiviergr

(Translated by Google) Really disappointing !! The sauce of our pasta was curdled and the waitress took us 10% off our bill Wow Thank you !! What about the rest .... salmon served with 5 slices of fresh tomatoes

Good breakfast, terrible service

Good quality American pub style restaurant. Not many options at the Jay Hotel for dinner. So on a busy weekend night, plan accordingly to wait for a table. Although for my visit they told me it would be a 20 minute wait; but they were able to seat me much faster (less than 10 minutes). Prices are slightly upscale. So if you are looking for a cheap meal, this isn't it. Between that fact, and the possible wait (they can't control if it gets busy!) I have a feeling are the reasons for the mediocre overall rating. But I was pleasantly surprised at my dinner experience. Nice atmosphere, service was good, and the food was delicious. Had a steak, and it was perfectly cooked. Good menu options for kids, as well. Would recommend.

Dimo Ivanov

Service was great - our waitress was extremely nice. Food was so so - very greasy and heavy, limited menu options. Prices are definitely on the high end and do not necessarily match the experience. The only restaurant within miles so it works when you don't want to go far. I definitely recommend driving to Newport, VT for some better dining though.

Alex Shubert

Expensive, mediocre, savorless. Not a single excuse to be that bad in a such great location. It is strongly advertised by hotel reception, but do not listen to them, look for something different. p.s.: colored water they call "coffee" costs nearly $5. What a shame...

Disgusting food, extremely noisy and expensive. We tried 3 entrees (jambalaya, duck confit, chicken breast), none was good.

Jason Wheeler

Waited 10 mins at the "wait to be seated" sign before walking in and finding someone to seat us. Waited 6mins before deciding to walk out. Wasn't busy lots of empty tables..

Shane O'Neill

Decent food and good portions. The young staff sometimes take longer to refill drinks etc... Over priced food, but to be expected at a Ski Lodge. With not many options up at Jay Mountain, this is a safe bet.

Jennifer Lamoureux

The food was good. Not stellar for the cost. The duck was overcooked and slightly dried out. Service has much room for improvement also. My girlfriend ordered a medium well cooked burger for lunch, came out black and charcoal like. She ordered a burger for dinner, ordered it medium and it came out just on the other side of rare. We went back for breakfast (because it's the only place open for sit down breakfast) and we were promptly seated and informed it was only buffet. We got food and sat down, as we just started eatting we were informed they were closing the buffet if we wanted more we should go get it now. Well there were no pancakes left after we came through, the sausage was very over cooked, I had to ask for orange juice as it was also empty..... we received our bill and it was $15 per person.... It was not worth that at all and wold have been nice to have known they were done serving breakfast shortly after we were seated. The staff did not seem to be to over enthused to be working let alone waiting on people. It would not be a top recommendation to anyone I knew going to Jay.

We went to Jay Peak for our family Christmas vacation and wanted to go for a nice dinner. The Foundry's menu looked like it could accommodate everyone inculding the kids. We went after making reservations and were promptly waited on and seated. Once we had a drink and food ordered that was it! Never saw the waitress until our food was served which was 40 or so minutes later. We actually went to the bar and ordered a second drink. Where the bar tender was sarcastic and not on the top of the like list. Then realized we paid $16 for a drink! $16! I've been to some pretty high top places and never paid that much! It was terrible! Food was great! Service was less than to be desired, prices were high, wait for food & beverages was unacceptable. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The lady at the front desk was funny and accommodated us with funny jokes during the 20 minute wait. That’s why it has 3 stars. The worst part is that I ordered a gluten free sandwich. Sandwich was 4 inches squared and the bread was horrible, I then went another time and I asked for gluten and soy free bread and they gave me a hamburger bun. I asked last time I had bread. (I went there a total of 3 times. One takeout) and I then knew I got 2 things of bread with soy. Horrible service too. My dad saw spinach as it was emitting a residue. The guy who gave us our table was asked by my dad for a napkin. Said nothing and never returned. AND, the gf sandwich I ordered was $15! It was 4 inches big! HUGE SCAM!

Zachary Hart

My retreat from the scene that is the tram bar. Nice place, but the menu, despite hope the descriptions inspire, falls a bit short in the delivery. Fast gourmet is all I can say....hey, that rhyme's.

Evan Johnson

No idea why this place is rated so low. Maybe impatience? Food is solid and location literally couldn’t be better.

Liz Sargent

Love the food there.

Tyler Wareham

Service wasn’t great but food made up for it. Slow service.

Jay Weier

There was a 2 hour wait so we snagged some bar seats. The service was ok but not great. The food was average to below average. I got a burger which was cooked correctly but lacked any real flavor. My wife got the Chili bread bowl which was the worst Chili she's ever eaten. It was like dried up spaghetti sauce and ground beef with no beans. I would avoid this place but unfortunately all of the restaurants at Jay Peak serve pretty much the same menu. Maybe try Mountain Dick's pizza?

Giroux Eric

Aucun service, on a l impression de déranger le personnel, on a été malade après le souper, c étais mauvais

Great flat bread pizza!

Nathaniel Todd

We have eaten here quite a few times when we visit near Thanksgiving, and the food has been a mixed bag. The flatbreads are probably the highlight, and some of the entrees are good (but expensive!). I would not recommend the sandwiches generally. Service has been okay so far on our visits, and though I wouldn't say the food comes out quickly, we haven't experienced the epic wait times mentioned by other reviewers. Overall an okay place that we hit up once or twice per visit.

Mark Eley

Wouldn’t eat there again.

The food overall was ok some of the food was cold but the Wings were very good. The Service was not so good we had to wait a long time for a waitress to come over. The food came out quick but some of it was cold. The Ribs that I ordered were average. The place was a little expansive but not terrible. Overall ok experience.

Skyler Wiernik

Food is horrible! I'm a vegetarian and this is the only restaurant within 20 miles of the resort. The veggie burger was prepared near meat. I also ordered a pizza with garlic, and apparently 3 cloves of garlic is an appropriate amount per slice. It doesn't matter because if you come to this resort you have no choice but to eat here. There isn't even a near by grocery store any were near here. It is also extremely overpriced.

Terribly rude hostess for breakfast. She acted as if we were a nuisance for even being there. Seemingly attentive waitress that turned out to forget our beverage order 3 times. Breakfast-one omelette and two eggs- took over an hour to arrive, only when I inquired about it twice. Waitress was apologetic but did nothing about it. This experience made us late for the water park that we had paid for. Will not return.

The best Dragon

Food was subpar for the price and ordered a martini that was half full and charged $15! Not many choices on top of a mountain but would not recommend this place.

Carlton Elliott

Had the pulled pork, awesome! Looked and tasted great.

Agress Wolbach

We had breakfast today, food is good and service too.

Stephen McElroy

We asked our waitress not to rush our meal. That being said it took 45 minutes to get our apps. Another hour for our entrees. My wife ended up throwing up at 4:00 am after eating the raviolis. We did get comped for half our bill. Not the point manager blamed the server. Be careful eating here.

Food was horrible, service tried to help but isn't enough. And 2 out of 4 people were food poisoned with the ribs. Dont go to this restaurant !

Food is OK. Service is lousy. Manager needs customer skills. Check your bill for accuracy before paying.

nelson moreira

A little loud around the bar with obnoxious people drinking. other then that really good food. Can get busy so time out dinner accordingly so you're not waiting. Good waiters/service, would recommend this place to eat.

Bad service, took over 45 min to get our food, very pricy for the quality and the service. Better bring your own food,
