The baked potato skins appetizer was very good. The piece of almond joy cake for desert was amazing! Nice selection of beverages. The pizza-I ordered the House Special to go- was unimpressive. Sauce had a weird sweet taste and had to blot grease with napkins. My Switchback was cold at least.

If you want the best toast in town, I guess this is the place? Or maybe everything else was SOOO BAD that the toast just seemed amazing? My family dined here for Easter. Placed our order at 10:18 and we didn’t see a plate to our table until almost 11am. It’s breakfast not rocket science. I ordered just a simple short stack of blueberry pancakes and they were cold and stale (also very undercooked...as a chef myself I don’t understand it) when they were placed in front of me and were more dense than whoever’s mind runs this place, thinking this food is acceptable. My cousins eggs were cold, and literally no one touched the pancakes that were served 5/12 of us. That’s how bad they were. Don’t waste your money or time here.

First time eating here and will probably be my last. We arrived around 7:45 pm and they close at 9 pm. There were 2 other tables seated and eating. The menu was uninspired and pretty basic. We ordered within 5 minutes 8 wings and then a calzone and a philly cheese steak for meals. About 10 minutes later we overheard the waitress just barely entering our order into the computer! Apparently she was too busy talking to the other guests as they were leaving. We got our wings about 20 minutes after ordering. The problem was there were only 7! We ordered 8! We let it slide and figured we will be eating soon so why bother making a fuss. Stuff happens. Finally after a full 45 minutes of waiting we got our very simple order, and as I said it was uninspired. The food was ok but nothing to bring me back. At least the waitress was attentive, but she should have been as we were basically the only ones there!

Happen to catch this on my google maps for restaurants near by and I’m happy I did. Rolls were homemade and came out warm. The sweet tea tasted great. Salad was awesome. Dinner was super and then pecan cheesecake dessert to top it off. What more can I say. Definitely worth stopping in.

What a great meal. Gluten free French toast was the best!! The value was wonderful and the fresh home cooked meal was just what we were looking for. Even with a large group of 7 we didn't have to wait long.

Avoid the prime rib. It looked like it had been cooked a long time ago and then pan fried or something to warm it up? Dry, no flavor... disappointment. Cole slaw tastes like it was made with whipped cream or something. Lasagna was a mess. I kept thinking i was in one of those Gordon Ramsey shows and he was going to pop out from somewhere and explain why it all tasted so bad. Maybe the breakfast is better?

This was our first time eating here. The decor is cute and the staff was nice. Our food was good but nothing I would rave about. Our baked sweet potatoes were not fully cooked by our normal way of being served across the US. We did inquire about how they were cooked and were told this was how they typically served them. So, with that said I could accept the cooking style but not to my liking.

Traveled new years eve and stopped in. As recommended the delmonico was excellent and my wife's prime rib was too. Charming old fashioned Family restaurant which is getting more and more hard to find in vt. Highly recommended!

The selection is very good. Cooked to order, I had the Reuben sandwich with pastrami and my friend had stuffed shells with tossed salad. Very generous portions. Took a piece of homemade cheesecake for lunch next day, very good, flavorful and melts in your mouth.

I've been there a few times. I thought it was kinda a dumpy ish place but you get great food at dives at time lol. Not really here tho. It wasn't that busy, service was ok. My wife got an open faced turkey sandwich and something just tasted off with it. It was luke warm also. We kept trying to pinpoint what it was and realized the gravy was weird. It had a spoiled sour taste to it (which wasn't consistent throughout the plate) we brought it to the waitresses attention and she apologized but didn't offer to do anything. My wife didn't want to get anything else because she's always worried they'll do something to the food after lol which wouldn't surprise me here. But she didn't eat any of it. I got a medium sized delmonico steak which was about average. We ended up getting two desserts which were decent. The waitress made a comment to my wife that (because her pie looked rough) that "no one took a bite out of it" she felt the comment was a bit passive aggressive in light of our "complaining" about the turkey dinner. Ironically we spoke to her mother after and she had also gotten the exact same dinner and thought the gravy was disgusting. They never offered to remove the turkey from the check and after a painfully high $60 bill we will definitely not be going back. I think their main crowd consists of elderly people who probably lost a decent portion of their taste buds and can't really fully taste the food lol

The Country House is one of my favorite restaurants!!! Delicious food and great service!!! And they have a wonderful dessert menu. It always has new stuff. Its only like a 10 minute drive from Rutland. They are in Pittsford.
