Staff was quite friendly. We ordered a burger and the brisket basket. The burger was almost flavorless. The brisket was cold, extremely fatty (even for brisket), and bland. The curly fries were well-seasoned and delicious and the sweet & spicy BBQ sauce was very good too. But that's about it. Also, like other reviewers, we couldn't help be annoyed by the swarms of flies on the patio area. For the price, we wouldn't return.

Pricing is about the same as a Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles, burgers are drowned in grease -- although tasty, service super slow even though there were 3 kitchen staff and only two tables seated other than mine. This place is a tourist trap. You won't find locals dining here, save your money for somewhere nicer.

Food was average at bes, quality way down from last visit a year or so ago, smoked wings are not smoked and not that great, they didn't seem to have smoked anything anymore and no pulled pork. Pretty much an overpriced burger stand, plenty of other better options nearby.

Food was okay. Service is a little harder to rate. Order as you walk in. Lots of options. Alchemist beers are available, as well as a few of other beers from the area. Our meals came out but two meals were missing. Turned out the have a glitchy computer and nit all orders make it from the counter to the kitchen. Everyone was almost done before the other two meals were ready. Not ideal for a first experience.

When in Stowe I always stop here when looking to eat a burger. Placing your order at the counter is quick and easy. They have a few Vermont beers on the tap. Portions are generous and the food always tasty. I love the ourdoor seating on a nice summer day. The Blue Donkey is definitely one of my go to places for lunch.

Great burgers and sandwiches, I personally love the rodeo burger there, never let's me down. The only thing is that they are not always open, I think they close during the slower season in town so make sure you check their hours before driving that way.

Terrible! What they're not out of they'll gladly smash flat and burn to a crisp for you. At least the counter girl was rude and absent minded the entire time she took our order. Oh and if you had any doubt as to freshness, you need look no further than around the corner to see their trash pile screaming processed pre fab. It's Vermont guys, get local or get out. Worst. Burgers. Ever.

Filthy! Kid who took our order was CHEWING TOBACCO! His mouth was black! He never spoke to us, I guess that was a good thing considering, and when I asked a question he put his hand in my face! Bathroom dirty, dining area dirty and the food was very expensive. Never again

Burger is pretty good, but pricing ($10 at least for each type) is extremely high for a hamburger/fries. Also had to wait 45 minutes for the food to come out. Burger Barn in Jeffersonville is a bit down the road and saves you a lot of money for a burger just as tasty.

My husband and I decided to try the Blue Donkey on a date night. Since this place is located on the Mountain road in Stowe we expected this place to be a nice spot for adults to grab a "specialty" burger and order a beer. When we first got there we were stopped at a counter where we had to order our food and beer. The menu had very few selections for a "specialty" burger place!! After ordering we sat in the seating area. The seating area was rather uncomfortable, metal chairs and the ice machine is located in the seating area!! What sports were on the T.V. we couldn't even hear over the ice machine. Our beer was left on the bar, poured into a clear plastic cup. We had to get that ourselves!! After our food arrived to the table we got no acknowledgement that we were even there. I didn't even find my burger to be all that "special." For the price we paid for our food and beer I expected better service!! To sum it all up, if you want "Fair" food with "Fair" service this is the place to go!! I definitely will not be returning!!!

I visit this burger joint often and it's great. Burger are awesome and the service is good. They also have a good amount of burger options along with chicken and seafood. Maybe pricey for some but the quality is worth it. Only giving it 4 stars due to the lack of consistency in making a medium burger, sometimes it's medium well, others medium-rare but I still enjoy it and never felt the need to return it.

Tasty burgers to be sure -- I had the turkey burger, which was one of the best of those I've ever had. But the rude, dismissive, and downright angry service reduced the experience to garbage. So sorry, counter girl, that we interrupted your rainbow doily crocheting to ask a question about our order. Next time we'll drive right by so you can have more alone time for your hobby.

I think the word 'delicious' does not do this place justice. I had ordered their Southwest burger medium well and was very much NOT disappointed!! Southern style burgers and brisket all with the backdrop of swanky blues music. If you are to visit or pass through Stowe, VT for any reason, this location most assuredly needs to be a stop for your visit or travels.

Stopped by for a quick bite. You order at the counter when you come in and then they bring you your food. They have the usual condiments available but also have vinegar, hot sauces, etc. you can use of you want. Enjoyed my large Blu burger. The fries were good and there were a lot of them. The music was a bit loud for my taste at the table we first sat down at but there were plenty of tables to choose from so we just moved to one a little further away from the speakers. Will come back.

Tried Mexican, Thai, Chinese and pizza restaurants in Stowe and was a bit disappointed in each. We went to the Blue Donkey not expecting much, but the burgers were very good and curly fries great. Prices are good too. You order at the counter, so less formal which was great for us and our small children.

I took our family of 5 here for a late lunch. I have to say the food was good and the place was clean and very comfortable. The reason for the 2 Star review was due to how unwelcoming and downright rude the woman at the front counter was to us all. All five of us agreed that her behavior was out of line. Part of the reason I choose this restaurant was to support a local Pride friendly business. The LGBT community is near and dear to our hearts. The only thing inclusive here was that we were all equally treated rudely.

Figured after the relaunch I’d give it a shot. Won’t make that mistake again. Surly not a local spot. Service needs attention. Food is full of grease. Frys are from a bag. Maple syrup appears on the menu a couple times. But, when asked for extra there was a surprise. Haha.

The food was good, the fries would have been better if we didn't get bits of fries rather than actual French fries.. also we arrived around 6:50-7:05ish and not long after we arrived a short woman came and shut the door and was "no longer taking orders" I found this odd being it was a Friday and there were thousands and thousands of people in the area for a lacrosse tournament. She was a little rude about it too, I think her behavior was inappropriate and turning away customers prior to closing was just awful to watch. Being that I worked in management in customer service I was surprised this was happening and confused why you would turn away business on a busy weekend early in the evening. Shame really, but if you arrive early enough I'm sure fries are good and service not turned away.

Great service, great food, and great prices! The menu isn't very large, but they cover a wide range of tastes from basic to unusual. They also had a vegetarian and pescatarian option. Burgers are about $9, and fries are extra. They have a great selection of local beers in cans. The atmosphere is relaxed and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot isn't paved so it can get muddy during rainy times. I visit Stowe about once a year, and I almost always make a stop here for a burger and waffle fries!

Wanted to find a toddler friendly restaurant and decided to try this place out. The place does burgers, fries and onion rings. My husband and I each got a burger and shared some curly fries. Our son got a small order of fries all to himself. Everyone enjoyed their food and it's a kid friendly place with indoor and outdoor seating. We'll definitely come back again.

Fine roadside fare that’s satisfying and fairly priced. Family friendly as many of the seats and tables are outside in a picnic like atmosphere. You go inside to order and then pick a seat outside- there area a few tables inside as well. If I’m ever in the Stowe area I wouldn’t hesitate to stop by for a bite again. They have a food truck that I’d bet is every bit as satisfying as their restaurant. They also have a decent selection of drinks- both beer and non alcoholic beverages. I found the service to be slow (really inefficient order taking) but reasonably friendly. The food was fair - well cooked but bland hand cut fries and good tasting but fatty barbeque. Pleasant outside seating. An OK alternative when other Stowe options are too busy.

Always a must visit everytime we stop in Stowe. They've always had some of the juiciest burgers, but they've only gotten better in the last year. Larger options, including turkey, salmon, and black bean burgers, as well as lettuce wraps and gluten free buns. All while staying true to that juicy deliciousness.
