If you are ever in Stowe, Vermont head west on 108 to Cottage Club Rd until you get to Sunset Grille, there is no reason to go anywhere else. This family owned establishment has it all! Fantastic food, numerous choices of cold beer, great atmosphere and welcoming staff. Much thanks to Charlotte, Kris and Catherine who are great bartenders and very knowledgeable about the menu, they kept us coming back day after day while on vacation. They were attentive and so much fun! This is one of those great bars you hate to leave and will remember forever!!

Terrible !!! We got there and no one sat us for ten minutes. Then once they sat us . They took our drink oulrder but then went and sat two other people and took there food orders. Finally we had to stop another waiter just go let him know we were not staying. I do not recommend this place ...

Came in with my wife and 4 kids for dinner after a 6 hour drive (Kingston, Ontario). We were seated promptly, suggestions given, orders taken. Food came out in reasonable time, hot, delicious, steak cooked perfectly on the surf and turf feature and whoever cleaned the mussels bravo. Working in the hospitality industry you know certain things to watch for. Great job front of house and kitchen. We will be back for sure.

$30.00. For a “Texas BBQ” buffet. 3 words- Awful, awful, awful! Chicken tasted like it was boiled, thrown onto the grill and then doused in BBQ sauce. Beef ribs were nothing but FAT! Salad was limp. Not even remotely worth the $30.00 per person. Chris.

I was so happy to find a place that was open late with a full menu when I rolled into town. The staff was friendly and engaging, the establishment was clean and decorated well, and the food was delicious! I had the Bacon Blue burger, which in addition to being cooked just how I wanted had a fantastic balance of toppings, sauce, and spices. The fried zucchini is also fantastic, great texture and taste. I love that the beef in the burger and the hard cider I had were made locally. All in all, a wonderful place. I would definitely return if I was in the area again.

In the summer Sunset bar and Grill has an entirely different feel to it. Walk in through the same door, greeted with the same friendly smile behind the bar and stand. The benches and table are as they are in the winter but then go out side. A real cool spot for al fresco eating and, if you fancy, a game of volleyball. The food and the drinks are good to. That hasn't changed.

Ordered take out on Sunday 8 October 2017. Food quality was ok to good. Nothing stood out as great and we found the ribs to be over cooked and dry in the competition plate we ordered. Definitely not the quality we expected for a signature item and the chicken was the best meat of the four. Order was quoted to be ready in 15 minutes and I arrived about 5 minutes past the quote time. It still wasn't ready for an additional 15 minutes so I got to wait at the bar area. Here is where I was able to see the staff working and in my opinion it looked like an unmanaged mess. The bartender was working hard and slinging drinks while having to attend to the high top tables in that section and process dining room drink orders. Clearly he could have used some help and most surprising to me was he also had to keep checking with the kitchen in the back for my order while the hostess stood at the podium. It seemed as though each staff member had their own section/duties and there was no cohesiveness or team work going on as the hostess could have easily popped in the back to check on orders to help out. This results in more work for some staff while slowing service for all patrons. The place was packed with locals and is one of the few establishments open late so competition is low and it seems the business doesn't have to try very hard. A side note is we tried to order the day before but it was a busy Saturday and nobody answered the phone while attempting to call for over an hour. I expect they just couldn't take time away from the peak of the eat in orders to take phone orders too. I believe if some additional focus is put on food quality consistency and team building then service would flow and the guest would get a good product but after my experience I will be unlikely to return. Fruit fly presence noted in another review was confirmed and the staff even commented on how heavy it was during my 15 minutes there. I understand it is common for fruit flies to pop up occasionally at the bar especially in the warm weather but a deep bar cleaning is necessary and evidently needed to improve the customer's impressions. Be proactive not reactive and reviews like mine would easily be 4 or 5 stars.

Selection of 6 or so draft beers and various other canned offerings. I ordered the pastrami reuben special and it was awesome. The pastrami was perfectly smoked and tender. Went back the same day and ordered it again!

Food was good our server seemed new so not the best in service. I will say with all the weird stuff going on in the world I didnt like how our silverware was in a bucket that i assume they just fill back up for the next guest. I dont know what someone else might have done in that bucket.

First time coming here- we frequently vacation at smugglers notch, and a shuttle driver told us to try this place. We went, and ended up back again two days later. Service is great, super friendly. Food was really good and the menu was large with much to choose from. We definitely found a new place to eat when we come up again!

Let's start off with the food! I have never had such amazing pulled pork in my life! But it doesn't stop there, this is the one place I feel the need to eventually eat my way through the menu because everything I have had so far has been nothing short of perfect. The staff are the best, all of our servers have been so amazing the perfect mix of sassy and sweet, drinks are refilled before you even ask. The atmosphere is a perfect medly of south west restaurant and sports bar. There is deck seating with lawn games as well.

LOVE the Sunset Grille. They have a really nice bar area lots of TVs, a pool table and an outdoor volleyball court. They also have a completely separate dining room that is quiet and intimate. The food is uniformly great. They have a lot of beers on tap and a big selection of local beers, as well as the usual suspects, and lots of local hard ciders and other drinks. If you're into wings, get them with their house sauce - it's great! Also, get the pigskins: Regular potato skins (bacon and cheddar) topped with BBQ pulled pork and cole slaw on the side. Amazing!

Staff was super friendly and helpful. We(a group of 3) went for dinner at 5pm on a Friday. We where seated right away. That night they where doing a buffet, you could get nothing else. 25.99 per adult and 14.95 per child under 12. Food was very tasty beef ribs where delicious,bbq chicken was awesome too. They also had burgers, hot dogs,salad, mac &cheese, coleslaw bake bean. Overall a great place! Just wish they where severing their full menu ....ooh let not forget desert. Fried cherry cheese cake♡

The only reason that I gave this a 2 rather than a 1 is because our server was one of the best we’ve ever had. Cody was friendly, attentive, and funny. However, the food was NOT good. We ordered nachos, wings, and French onion soup. The nachos were 20 chips on a plate with barely any cheese and 4 jalapeños. Further, they were served on tin foil and the cheese was melted to the tin foil so we couldn’t eat it. The wings were crunchy but the buffalo sauce was not what buffalo sauce typically tastes like. The worst was the French onion soup, by far. It tasted sour and spicy and nothing like French onion soup. It was awful. The strawberry daquiri was the only good thing. Unfortunate to spend $50 on a bad dinner.

We visited Saturday 10/7 for lunch to celebrate our previous trip when the four of us were in Stowe and ate there, which had been a great 1st time experience. This 2nd visit was very different. The hostess did not greet us whatsoever, almost expressionless with little to no eye contact like she was wishing to be somewhere else. She said nothing to us until we sat and told us someone would be with us shortly. Our bearded waiter was cold and short from the start. When he rushed away to bring us our drinks, I tried to catch him to let him know my wife would also like a drink. He returned with 3 drinks and when I told him we had a 4th and she would like a water, he rushed away again and returned, and literally slammed my wife's drink on the table and rushed away to kitchen. We were all taken back. We waited nearly an hour for four simple meals. It felt like he intentionally was trying to give us poor service, not checking in with us, not giving creamer, bringing us barely warm, almost cold food, very poor server etiquette and not once apologized for the wait. He obviously was miserable and made sure we felt the brunt of his bad day. I forgot to mention, there were flies flying all around, more than a couple. The other tables in the room seemed to receive excellent service from the tall waiter, nice guy who even commented he liked my hat when we left; almost as if he knew we had a horrible experience. Sunset Grill set the bar high with our first visit, but we will not return. There are simply too many other choices on the mountain road with better food and far better service.

If I could give this establishment negative stars, I would. I dont know what was worse the food or the service. From the moment we sat down our waiter was impatient and on edge. He rolled his eyes at us when we ordered water while we looked at the menu. It is a BBQ restaurant, but the rack of ribs was in sweet and sour sauce. The burger was not fresh and over cooked. We were finishing our beers after eating some of the worst BBQ food I have ever experienced and trying to enjoy the live music when the waiter came over and humiliated our table in front of the entire restaurant. We had paid cash and waited for our change to be returned when he stormed over and yelled at us for leaving him a small tip. I have gone to many restaurants and I dont usually tip until I leave, we were all clearly still drinking and hanging out. Not only were we humiliated and not satisfied now we were being rushed to leave. From beginning to end it was terrible.

Amazing: Do not wear your best suit here when ordering the signature dish. It's messy but amazing. Worth it. Also i have onion allergy so it was nice to see them go or if there way to make my meal the best. My waitress was Britney and she was a great waitress. Would eat here again and willing to ask friends to come as well. Edit: I've been coming here for a few weeks now. I've been going around eating at other places within Stowe. Picasso's, blue donkey. each week. testing new things. and I'm sorry people. sunset is my winner. with the best service. best food. and by far best prices. Personally i felt the place to be very down to earth. its not some big fancy place. but a very earthy place with nice people. I actually find myself looking forward to the people more then the food. I'm already planing trips with friends and outings with people for meeting them first times.

Sunset Grille & Tap Room is a casual dining restaurant that serves simple fare. BBQ is their specially though their menu includes other items like burgers, wings and personal pizzas so there's a little something for everyone. We stopped in for dinner on a Monday evening and didn't have to wait to be seated. Our server was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. When he had to tell us they'd run out of shrimp for the day and our original entree selections weren't available, he was helpful in making alternate suggestions. Our food came out quickly and tasted good.

Sunset is a good standby where we've never had to wait for a table and always left pretty satisfied. This time I had the St Louis ribs special and they were far and away the best thing I ate in Stowe all week. Good amount of spice, slight bite, but pulled right off the bone. Really cooked perfectly and delicious balance of sauce and smoke. I really enjoy the slaw here although the baked beans this time were a tiny bit more al dente than I like. Baby back ribs are a bit more pedestrian but still ok. Salmon was cooked nicely and a good fish option. Service was good and cheerful, if a bit harried, but that seems to be the norm.

The review and picture is for the Alchemist a craft beer brewery just up the street from the Sunset Grille. The Alchemist on Cottage Club Rd is a newish (~2015 - 2016) addition to the company with the original brewery being located in Waterbury near Ben & Jerry's. The original location is no longer open to the public. The new location, in Stowe, is much better poised to serve the public with separate fast moving lines for taste testing and purchasing product. It's a nice bright cheery place and the featured product is "Heady Topper," a very hoppy beer.

Went here for lunch with my family while on vacation as a local had recommended it. Patio area was very nice and relaxing with quality tunes playing. Food was declicious (i had the quesadilla) though I'd say a little overpriced relating to quantity. I found myself still hungry after eating. Beers likewise expensive. Total bill for family of 5 for lunch (including 3 kids) ended up being over $70. Again, food and atmosphere nice, but just know this is not a value place.

Someone here knows their food. Everything is always delicious amazing wings, great chicken and steak and even the salad was crisp cold and had delish red tomatoes. Someone is definitely paying attention to the details.

Basic BBQ bar food. Fun menu, sports bar atmosphere. One of my favorite local spots that most tourists don't know about. It is right next to the new Alchemist brewery, so it is getting a little more popular, but always relaxed atmosphere.
