Here you will be able to see all the reviews of people who buy the products of Shalimar of India (Restaurant) in the area close to Vermont.
At the present this business gets a rating of 4.0 stars over 5 and that score is based on 153 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is quite high, and it's founded on a very large number of reviews, so we can think that the assessment is very faithful. If people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to put tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Indian restaurant.
We ordered a take out. We felt food was but not very tasty . I think we can give a 3 for this
The Sunday buffet is a joke. Service is terrible. What on Earth is a 2 plate per buffet policy? Food was disgusting. The only reason this place is profitable is because of its prime location and the fact that white folks don't know real Indian food.
Delicious food, lots of variety, vegetarian options, friendly service at excellent price. New favorite place.
Delicious!
Always delicious!
Service was excellent, food came out quick and tasty! Wish we could have eaten more but we were stuufed. Casual relaxed atmosphere. Definetly would come back!
Worst place ... Pathetic staff.. No sense to attend customer... Half cooked food served... When complained she got mad... I can write more bad things.. But don't want to waste my time either...but literally they don't even deserve negative rating..
Nice atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service. I go here every chance I get! And they deliver with TOGO for those days when it's too cold to go anywhere.
Good food and hospitality.
A very friendly family owned restaurant with delicious food. Check the specials or go with one of the standard Indian dishes. Never disappoints.
Food overall was low quality in preparation. Chicken was very dry. Rice was dry and bland. The flavoring though was good. Garlic naan was too greasy and didn't taste fresh. I did enjoy the coconut cream soup though.
Amazing gem in Burlington. Run by a very sweet hardworking family. The other reviewers are stuck up entitled white people. Its not fine dining for sure but its a local family place at its best. The place is clean and the service is always friendly. The Sunday buffet is their main attraction. ~$12 for all you can eat. Coconut Nan is the best!
Really delicious food and reasonably priced. Different heat options.
Food is alright, the desk lady isn't very polite, unless you're Indian. You can see her face totally change when someone of the same nationality comes in.
Great Indian dishes and take out options.
Amazing food and quick service, but not the most professional out clean place.
Friendly service and reliably good food.
Great food ND cleen everything perfect
Best Indian in Burlington
Samosas and everything else were great! Excellent service and a great atmosphere.
Best buffet in town.
don't ever try their chicken biryani, coming from hyderabad, i know what a biryani is. The very first time I ordered from you and was sure that will never dare order here again. The biryani had less chicken and more vegetables in it (there are supposed to be non other than fried onions in chicken biryani) it tasted no where close to a biryani, but was rather a pulao of some kind. Not worth the money at all.
The Shalimar Sunday Brunch is amazing. For only ten dollars you have an amazing assortment of vegetarian and meat options. Try the rice pudding!
The food wasn't extremely tasty, but it was more than edible, and the buffet had a large selection. Surprisingly, though, the buffet lacked chicken tikka masala. The staff were super nice though, when I accidentally forgot my credit card, they held on to it for me and remembered when I came back in a panic looking for it.
We came in about ten minutes before closing on one of the coldest, deadest nights of the year (I know, we're monsters), and despite the late hour, they were able to make us a large takeout order in almost no time. The staff was friendly, the food was good and spicy (the way I ordered it), and the portions were quite generous.
After being extremely dissapointed by an overpriced hipster restaurant, I walked down the street to make it to this Indian restaurant. Suffice it to say, I was very much happy with it. My Indian food of choice is the mutton saag, and it did not disappoint. Keep up the good work!
Amazing
With an array of food options, this is a must stop for good food in Burlington. The dining room is generally empty so there is always plenty of seating. Most of the orders I saw when visiting were to go. This is a "hidden" gem in downtown Burlington and is always a stop when I'm in town.
Bland (even when I ordered Medium spiciness); single-note spices rather than the complexity one expects from good Indian food. Mealy tasteless potatoes in the Palak Aloo, off-tasting stringy chicken. But the worst part was the Gulab Jamun, which I normally love, but didn't even finish here. Didn't taste at all right (honey and rosewater); instead, kind of sour and dry. Disappointing. I love Indian food of all kinds but Shalimar is the worst I've tasted in my memory. Decor and service were fine for us though (a party of 9).
Worst, Worst food ever, We are 18 people with 8 kids. Nan was served all uncooked, all kids are sick at home. So expensive food with not testy food. do not got to this restaurant. Not recommended this place ever. I already report in the Dept. of Health in VT. & better business bureau. This place has to shut down & be a seriously investigate.
As far as Indian food in Burlington goes you will not find better. Fast and tasty with fair prices.
Absolutely love this place! They offer a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The portions are generous for both eating in and take out. The owners and employees are friendly and helpful if you are looking for suggestions. They also have a Sunday brunch that is very reasonable priced.
Very well maintained family owned small restaurant. Hospitality was unmatched as the way we were received being the last customers of the day who hardly beat the clock to get there. They still prepared food that tasted pretty fresh and also must try is the traditional punjabi lassi. If we pass by from burlington will surely stop by again.
Tasteless food, overpriced, lame ambiance. As a rule don't go to any indian restaurant with name Shalimar or Kohinoor.
Very pooor restaurant. They don’t even know how to make biryani. They call fried rice as biryani and butter chicken means add butter to chicken. Very worst .
The food was wonderful, the staff was friendly and the price was perfect. They even made my wife's favorite appetizer for her.
Food was great
Best Indian food in Burlington.
One of the best buffets money can buy. Try to come here on Sunday to receive the buffet food onto your plate. Remember to only use two plates. Coffee and tea are not great but they are getting better. Staff is very nice and approachable about any questions you may have. Have a good dining experience!
If you've ever had viscous and flavorful Indian food in a big city, this place will highly disappoint you. Curries are watery and have little taste.
Visited this place during our trip to Vermont. Ambiance of the restaurant is ok. Staff are courteous. Tried Bangan Bartha Vegetable Kurma and Bread. All items tasted bland. Not much of flavor. Not a place for real authentic Indian food and taste.
Very good food for a good price, love getting lunch here and having delicious kheer for dessert! Can get varying degrees of hot spicy but all the food is flavorful and warm, and the staff are amazing as well!
Delicious India food
Amazing food, run by the sweetest family. I have no idea where these negative reviews are coming from. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommended!
Very ordinary restaurant. Chicken curry was terrible. The 2 star is for the saag paneer. Also they charged 15 % sales tax - after they learnt we were travelling from out of town.
Well established, family owned restaurant.
Authentic Indian cuisine designed by a local family. Who doesn't wanna support a local business? Delicious food too. All you can ask for.
If you want delecious food must visit this place and service is really good.
Visited this place during our trip to Vermont for a mdinner. Ambiance of the restaurant is good and appears to be clean. Staff are courteous. Tried Bangan Bartha Vegetable Kurma and Bread. All items tasted bland. Indian flavors are missing in the items we ordered. Overall this place is just OK if there are no other options to eat.
Great Indian food with excellent customer service
Half of the menu items were not available. Half-working neon lighting makes it look like a cheap cafeteria, all the file the embedded ceiling spotlights were off. We were using our phones to have enough light to read the menu. The place is run by clueless kids who have no idea how to provide customer service. We left before even ordering since they had none of the menu dishes that we wanted.
The worst tandoori I ever had in my life. If you are indian it's not for you......
Delicious!
Food is delicious, great vegetarian options, and the staff is always very friendly. Highly recommend
Good food. Better host!
My favorite last minute dinner plan! Been coming here for 9 years now and have never been displeased. The hardworking family puts their heart into the food and you can see it anytime "Papa Shally" come by with a smile. highly recommended!
Run by a North Indian family and as expected they know how to cook. Not top notch but there is nothing to complain other than Parking.
Shalimar has been great since I was a kid. Depending on the time of day, it CAN be a little short-staffed, but I have never had a bad meal there in the many years I've gone there. Good price, too. Burlington doesn't have a massive Indian population, so the fact that it has been around for so long is a testament to the high quality of the experience.
Very poor service. Hadn't been before and they had buffet. Asked server if that was all that were serving, were the specials board items available for order? She rolled her eyes at us and then very a huffy voice asked if we wanted a menu. I even stated that we were new and seeking guidance on how they operated.
Great food, Buffett is amazing.
Absolutely wonderful food!! not sure why Google says reservation neccesary, it is not. Great atmosphere, owners are welcoming very friendly. My daughter and I both hand Tikka Masala, VERY GOOD!! For parking, if you can't find any on the street, turn right at the light onto Pearl St. there is a small parking area that is fairly inexpensive.
Very worst.. first time I eat chicken bajji:( biriyani taste like tamarind rice taste..
Delicious, kind people and good service!
I don't write reviews and the reason for this review is to help restaurant to improve (if they want to). I'm not Indian, so I don't know if the food that was we ordered was prepared property. I personally liked nun. But "mixed tandoori" consisted of only chicken and hamburger (maybe that what it supposed to be) Also we ordered the food to be mild, knowing that it could be very hot, but the "mild" doesn't mean no spices, including salt, at all, and this is how our food tested like. Also the time it took to cook is crazy, it was almost an hour, and I know it doesn't take one hour to bake thin bread or to cook rise, which I'm sure they didn't start cooking from the scratch after we ordered. The prices for beer are $2 for bottle, it's very low for a beer in restaurant, it should be at least 5. Decor is also needs a huge improvement.
Some of the best food I've honestly ever had. Not a great place to eat if you're in a hurry but it's so worth the wait. They deliver too.
They prepared food for our group of 9 just before their closing hours. Appreciate their dedication.
Worst
Affordable, kind-hearted, delicious.
Really nice restaurant.... Nice people
(Translated by Google) Very rich (Original) Muy rico
Amazing food, decent prices.
Good food and service ..
Hospitality was very poor Limited staffing and you have to wait for at least 15 mins The owner who seems to be a North Indian is slightly edgy over us and took the order as if he was giving food for free
Not my favorite.... watery vindaloo, loose masala, naan nothing to brag about, raita was tasty.
This was an excellent meal! Great chai, great service and an awesome atmosphere. It hits the spot if your craving Indian flavors, they made me a vegetarian masala that was so yummy.
Food was ok not that good. Not worth the money
Did not like it. No recommendations as the food, service, ambiance, cleanliness are poor.
Terrible food... I have never left a negative review on here but the tandoori mixed grill was inedible. Huge disappointment
I always have a great experience at Shalimar, and trust me when I say that I've come a lot since I moved to Burlington two years ago. The service is fantastic, the food is delectable, and I consider it one of the tucked-away-gems of downtown Burlington.
Very rude staff.
Tasty North Indian food and chat options
Amazing saag paneer! The best indian I’ve found in Burlington! The decor could definitely use some renovation, though.
Good food
Great location for good family style Indian food. Nice Sunday brunch buffet, and good food the rest of the time as well.
I was in the city for business, and was looking for good home style Indian food. I ordered vegetarian thali at Shalimar. The food was delicious, quantity was more than enough, the service was fantastic, and price was just right.
We ordered Vegetarian. I am an indian and eat out at an indian restaurant very often. At least once a week. I have tried indian joints in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Maine. Rhe food and service on offer today has got to be one of the worst experiences so far... anywhere. It's just not the food that let us down... The service was below par... They were badly in need of staff to man the tables. Just one waitress waiting on 8-10 groups. Wait time for food was close to an hour.
This place has amazing food!
The food is authentic and always amazing. Best indian food in Vermont
Non veg people will be disappointed since majority of their items are vegetarian. Moreover, we ordered a goat briyani and clearly they added goat pieces in a veg briyani. Didn't taste like a briyani at all. It had mushrooms, peas and other vegetables. But it was okay for a quick fix of Indian food away from home.
Food was stale, tandoori is not real stuff
it twas decent. my spicometer was not plesd but teh busboy was cute so it mad up for it. 11/10 stars
Delicious Indian food in Burlington!
Worst biryani ever had, he mixed the rice with turmeric paste with few pieces. so do not try it. worst service, the worst thing is he added tip amount in the bill directly. SO DONT GO .. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
Brunch buffet is great.
The Shalimar makes the best Indian food I've ever had. It's been my favorite restaurant for over 15 years!
One of the worst restaurants I have ever been. There was nothing "INDIAN" about it. Biriyani(Stale chicken and fried rice) was a JOKE. Shrimp curry was at least edible. But overall Horrible experience.
Absolutely the food and family who runs it.
Sunday buffet is wonderful, and priced really well.
Delicious food and a comfortable dining room.
A full menu of Indian food. Best was the Bhindi special and baingain bharta. The other dishes were just so, so, including the chicken tiki masala. The waitstaff were very attentive.
The naan is amazing and so is everything else. The family runs everything, so it has an awesome homecooked feel!
This is our go-to Indian take-out in Burlington. The whole family loves it.
Excellent food, thoughts of being in India... Wonderful people
The food is good and served quickly
