An amazing hidden gem. Their dishes are packed with flavor and if you enjoy some heat you'll find a lot of favorites. The ubiquitous PadThai is really great despite the menu telling you its not really a legit Thai dish. Reach out of your comfort zone and you're going to be pleasantly suprised.

The food is quite good or at least all of the entrees I've tried have been lovely. I didn't care for their tom yum soup as it was really quite bland and some of the fried dumpling options are too greasy. The quality and quanity for your entrees are a really good price. The only major downfall is that the service is SUPER slow. I've gone three times now, once at lunch, and twice at dinner time and all of them I had to wait 15 minutes or so for my check after asking for it.

After a day of skiing in snowy weather, we were craving for Thai food. We searched in google map around Montpelier area, found Royal Orchid, which already received good reviews. We are Oriental, who eat Thai food frequently all over the places. This one is certainly among the best, both the service and the food. We had stir fried pork, two different curry dishes, and a stir fried wide rice noodle. They were all very good, including the very authentic Thai soup. What really impressed us was the Mango sticky rice dessert they served in a short time. I don’t remember how many times we had had this special dessert before (so far I only found in Thai restaurants; if someone found it in other types of restaurants, let me know as this is my favorite treat), the one they made was the best. The sticky rice was made perfect, which we know should take a long time. But it can be pre-made. What was surprising was the Mango – as ripen (but fresh) and sweet as the ones I handpicked from market in summer time! It was a weekday and snowy, we saw only three tables of guests other than us. Yet, they had such good quality mango ready to serve! Two thumbs up! This will be my must-go place whenever I pass by Montpelier.

Amazing food. Outdoor seating available and they are pet friendly. They even brought a bowl of water for our dog and he enjoyed having lunch with us here. I will definitely recommend this place and will visit again. Bean vermicelli dish was out of the world

Family of eight were asked to pick any table as the restaurant was empty. We looked around and choose a table which could accommodate us all...the arrogant owner of the restaurant who has no eticates talking to customers started abusing us for picking the table as it was reserved for another family. If it was reserved why not put a tag or let us know upfront the table was reserved. We kept our patience and moved to a different table & ordered. Food ordered went to a different table and again the owner intervened and was arrogant about what was delivered was what we ordered (which wasn't). Overall experience negative 10, food - average, hospitality - none, service - pathetic, owner - the worst possible human being in the world...God save his employees. I highly recommend STAY AWAY.

Terrible service, owner screamed at our party for being disappointed when our apps took well over an hour. Somehow, all of the recent negative reviews both here and on Facebook have now disappeared. If you leave a bad review on their Facebook page, they delete it and block you. Disgusting.

You should have asked who you were dealing with... I’m sure your parties behavior in no way played a part of your experience.

A nice spot to have a quiet meal. Even though it's usually packed when I visit, diners are engrossed in friendly conversation while immersed in an atmosphere of intense yet subdued conviviality. Come to think of it, the yummy food and local wines are probably also contributing factors.

Vegetarian review: we got the pad kee Mao which was very tasty. The Penang curry was not as tasty but still likeable. Nice little spot in downtown and really amiable service. Prices are moderate but gave a very big serving of curry.

Fried rice is good, din't like red curry. Didn't like demanding 18% gratitude. The way they charged for chicken fried rice with shrip is weired, they charged us $16, when we asked, they told that that is their style.

My husband and I often go to the Royal Orchid for dinner. We have our few favorite dishes we usually order (namely the pad thai and chicken fried rice), but the menu here is extensive and offers lots of options. Highly recommend if you are in the area! Only drawback is often a lack of parking.

This is the place that made me fall in love with Thai food. Authentic recipes served with fresh ingredients in an environment I can imagine as it would be in Thailand. Order spicy spicy hot with a Thai iced tea. PAD KHING or KAENG MASSAMAN Ohhh yum. Authentic people too. They are online - Google them.

Food was quite good, and came out fast. And although they made accommodations for GF, it was simply to exclude the tofu, as opposed to pan fried, like other we have experienced. Still very good and the outdoor seating is charming.
