Popolo was not a great place at all. 35$ for a mediocre, at best, hamburger. 2$ for a coke, and then an additional 2$ for every refill. Maybe it's a Northern thing, I come from Texas, so if you're from the South I would not advise this place. The room I sat in had no fans, ac, and the staff only cracked the windows so I had to sit in a hot room with no air flow. The smell in the place was terrible as a result of the lack of air flow, one person orders something smelly, everyone smells it. For what you pay, it's definitely not worth it. Terrible food for what you pay for. I would never come here again, and I regret the whole experience. If you're looking for a place to eat in Bellows Falls, try Fat Frank's. Not this sad over-priced excuse for a restaurant.

Arrived on a busy night because there was a show about to happen across the street. The calamari was delicious and quickly served despite many patrons in the room. As the place quieted down I got one of their unique and tasty drinks with fresh blackberries. I had mushroom sliders to finish it off and they were both filling and a nice change from the traditional meat variety. I chatted with the waiters and bartender as the people all migrated to the show. A great group of workers and a pleasure to dine at. I will certainly be back in the near future.

Loved the lobster pizza. Mushroom soup and calamari spot on. Great vibe with the minimum pay worked into menu prices. Family friendly too. Could do with an espresso machine perhaps.

We just discovered this restaurant and are glad we did! We just had lunch and got to sample two different Italian sauces. Both were great. I look forward to our next visit for dinner with a more extensive menu. More to follow..............................

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday. The place was not at all crowded. The burger and fries were really good. Service and ambience were great and better than most we found in the area! However, the French toast, eggs Florentine and the special omellete were pretty bland.

It's always a pleasure visiting Popolo. Between the excellent food and drinks, the brilliant staff, and the charming atmosphere, this is one of my favorite restaurants not just in Vermont, but around the world as well. Please listen and carefully consider the specials, they are artfully designed by the chef and very often are crafted featuring local and available ingredients. Visit soon, you will not be disappointed.

Burgers are tasty, the price is right for the well dressed burger at $10, but pasta entree portions are very, very small! Priced at $18, the Carbonara pasta was appetizer size, if that. Good, but not great, though an essential ingredient - black pepper - seemed to be enirely missing, certainly not worth the price. Ditto for the appetizers, tiny and overpriced. Pizzas are interesting and tasty. Chicken entree: flaccid over-cooked thigh and leg but its polenta and chard accompaniment was quite good. Kitchen is very, very slow. Don't arrive hungry, eat a snack beforehand. Play it safe, get specific details on portion size before ordering or play it safe and go for pizza or burgers.

Cocktails and soups were great. The main entree was not so great. Fettuccine with spinach, it was 16.00. Had no taste, was dry, had a small amount of spinach. Complained, took it back and put some more sauce on it. I don't know what the sauce was, but no taste. Not worth the 16.00.

Awesome place! The menu is well though out and contains a great array of dishes. The food is of excellent quality, and the decor is tasteful. Loved the peach, basil, and feta salad. I will certainly return again to try more of their dishes.

We love Popolo and have returned again and again! Their menu is very creative and as another reviewer said, the food is big on taste. We often have several appetizers, soup and salad and a nice bottle of Prosecco. I hope that they add gluten free pasta and pizza to the menu. The brunch menu is also wonderful.

The food has been delicious. There is something for everybody on the menu, and there is a nice, well equipped bar to hang out, too. My favorite times at Popolo involved hanging out on the couch with a glass of champagne in front of the fire place in the old hotel lobby - some cool evening, or enjoying the unique view from the back deck where the train track, emerging from below the building, crosses the canal - on a warm summer night.

Very nice restaurant but attempting to purchase a gift certificate for a friend was not what one would expect when trying to spend money at a restaurant. They charge a service fee based on the amount you are spending, ie: $27 for $25 certificate, $53 for $50 certificate, and $105 for $100. In addition, according to their web site, they add $12 to send it in a box! I don't understand this!

Food and service were excellent. I had the steak. It comes served sliced thick like London broil is served. Was cooked perfect, but I thought the portion of steak was small.( To me it was about half of a regular steak.say like a regular sirloin cut) Came with great fries and good portion. All was delicious. Top notch service.

It's nice to see a thought through, modern but simple, Italian restaurant locally. I have only been there for lunch but their salads and entrees I've found to be well prepared and presented. The decor screams minimalist, it's straightforward but not lazy. Having gelato on the desert menu is a welcome and nostalgic shifting of gears. The portion sizes are small but big on flavor. It seems there are a fair amount of negative reviews on here, which I was surprised by at first but when I take into account that cheap restaurants which pile on large portion sizes of greasy are the norm around here, I suppose it's not too surprising. This restaurant belongs in the city, not Bellows Falls.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was the way I like it. Loud with conversation, tinkling glassware, plates and utensils. All the friendly sounds one expects at a popular place filled with happy diners. The service is prompt, pretty smooth in execution, i.e absolutely no problems with the orders, and timely deliveries to the right customer along with the food arriving hot to the table. Of course the food was great, North Italian in style (love that) and other fares in which local and nearby farmers and purveyors are the preferred sources. Loved the steamed mussels.

I have to speak to the talent of the chef and the dedication of the staff. Simply excellent. Our New Year's Eve dinner included venison ravioli, sautéed lobster, tenderloin of beef, home made fois gras, risotto with black truffle. Everyone raved about their dinners. What else can I say?
