Good food, service. If you like southern, western, or authentic Mexican food, don't order the nachos. They put mozzarella cheese on them, and that doesn't work. They do not sell burgers, but do serve fries. However, if you order takeout, the fries and other foods (like nachos) are put in aluminum containers with plastic tops, which causes sogginess. The pizza is acceptable but not great or anything close to New York pizza. Overall, with the other available choices here (there are few) I would say it's a good place.

Not a big fan of the pizza, with the exception of a stuffed steak and cheese pizza- Mayo base, with onions and peppers, it's not listed on the menu like this anymore, but you can still get it, you just have to order it like this- it's worth trying. The broccoli chicken Alfredo is another good one, and I love their tomato bisque soup, it's delicious. My only "complaint" is that I've watched their prices go up, and unfortunately in this area, choices are limited, so yes, when I want or need a change, I will pay what they charge, but the price tends to"fluctuate" from $17-$22 every time I ask for the stuffed pizza. And the price for the broccoli chicken Alfredo is... I recommend getting it to go and order the"child's portion". The price for this is "stupid" (sorry), but the child's portion is the same size as the adult portion and the price difference between the two is ridiculous! So remember, get it to-go, and order the child's portion so you aren't getting"boned".

We love Hoagies in Essex. They recently redid their interior and it looks stunning, their food is high-quality and affordable, and their customer service is always pleasant. We normally do take out, which for pizza and calzones is reasonably quick, and have eaten in house once or twice. They also have small desserts up front and are very accommodating. I always order the buffalo chicken salad and didn't realize that it wasn't technically on the menu anymore, but they still fulfill my order.

After Not having eaten here for a good 6 months the food didn't taste the same at all. Ordered boneless buffalo wings which we used to love. They were terrible. Not buffalo tasting at all. Very bland with a flavor that gets pretty sickening. Then we split a calzone which was even worse. .so damned greasy I could feel my arteries clogging with every bite..was given a terrible tasting spaghetti sauce for dipping. On the other hand the staff are super nice! Change you boneless wings back guys!

While the service at Hoagie's is prompt and friendly, the pizza is far from good. I would compare it somewhat unfavorably to Domino's pizza. Frankly I'd prefer staying home and serving up frozen pizza. Your mileage may vary, however, as lots of reviewers seem to like it. People apparently have a very low bar for what they consider edible pizza.

I think the food has a good taste - but i truly think they could up the freshness and quality to really take their food where it should. The pizza taste good but could use some TLC to really make it shine. For example: the garlic bread - is just a sandwich bun with cheese and garlic mixed. Even just having a fresh half loaf of bread could make a huge difference. They sell 2$ loafs at price chopper made fresh daily. Cut them up into pieces and make them feel authentic and unique rather than just thrown on a bun. The sandwiches in mu opinion are the best item to buy. They are loaded and taste good. Again though - I just feel like some freshness and TLC could really make them something SPECIAL. 3/5

I visit Essex Center 2-3 times a year and make a point to order a pizza from Hoagies each and every time. One of the best and subtly unique pizzas I've ever had. The dough, sauce and cooking time is just right. It's not exactly NY style, but certainly not Chicago style. It's that nice in-between style that just hits the spot.

Buffalo chicken pizza. You're welcome. I could get one of those every time that I come here and die a happy person. Not too spicy and full of buffalo / cheese flavor with a crust that I can write home about. Yes, there is grease on the food here. It's a pizza joint. You want no grease, go to Applebee's and get the salad bar. This location also has a small arcade area for the "kids" as well as a frozen yogurt (Hogurt) bar. Service has always been top notch and attentive. I can honestly say that whenever we go to Newport, we end up here for a bite to eat. Plenty of seating for families and parking outside for your car, SUV, or snowmobile.

Not a bad little place. The burgers are huge, and the pasta is great. Surprisingly, the pizza was just ok. It tasted frozen, even though I know it wasn't. I would recommend skipping it, and going for the chicken parm or a burger. Portions are large, so prepare to bring home a doggy bag.

This was the food I received after spending $40 on dinner none of this was eaten it was absolutely disgusting the Maozzella sticks were so soggy I couldn’t even pick them up without them falling apart they were disgusting the Mac n cheese as you can see was the hardest make and cheese I ever seen and it had water buildup and oily stuff on the bottom of the container they came in. I will never EVER eat at this place again it was my first time trying this place and it will definitely be my last. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. This place is a dame waste of money.

Best pizza in Essex! Been getting takeout from here for years. Very consistent. Locally owned. Family run. Jennifer and crew are always friendly and professional. Pizza has hearty crust, fresh ingredients and great sauce. Calzones are huge. There are plenty of other options, too, but I’ve always just gone with the pizza/calzones. Stick with what you love. Beer and wine served, if you sit in restaurant. Several beers on tap, usually including local craft brew favorites Fiddlehead IPA and Switchback.
