Good food, good service. A small, intimate setting that we weren't expecting. We were seated promptly and received attentive service without hovering nor rushing. I had the pan seared scallops that looked as appealing in presentation as they tasted. My partner enjoyed his venison flank steak that was superbly prepared and artfully presented. Definitely a worth the trip!
Fabulous!! Excellent meals, Excellent service!! Highly recommend. Well worth the cost. Best meal we had during our week in Vermont.
Wonderful food and service. Been a returning customer for many years never been disappointed. Presentation, quality of each dish matched only with its perfect taste. Coupled with a welcoming, professional and alternative stsff, a wonderful experience
I have nothing negative to say. Best restaurant we have been to in Stowe. Food was amazing, service was great, atmosphere awesome. A++
We had dinner tonight at Harrison. Our waiter was excellent. We ordered two chards, and we were happy with the pours we got. We ordered the steak and seared Tuna. And the calamari, which was served on a nice big white plate, looked and tasted wonderful! Our entrees arrived in stoneware type gray bowls. All the food was crammed into the bowl. It would have looked much better on a nice crisp white plate. And made cutting the steak easier. The Seared tuna was good, it just had way too much of a sweet sauce on it. would have much preferred a baked stuffed haddock, but none on the menu.
You need a reservation or sit at the bar. Food is so good sitting at the bar was fine. Fish&chips. Fish was excellent, not greasy at all. Calimari so flavorful, not overly breaded so you can taste the Calimari. Risotto & scallops..
A real hidden gem in the great ski village of Stowe. Reservations are suggested as their seating capacity is limited. The pecan crusted Ahi Tuna was delicious. Wait staff is totally professional and a big cut above the other nearby restaurants.
Great restaurant. Never disappointed here
Great food, great prices. Get the venison!
This is the best food in town, Andrew and his family give 100% to their customers, I love them and their staff! U can't go wrong!!
The food was amazing!!!! Enjoyed the quaint home style feel. We don’t often do this, but when we finished our meal we went to the bar for a night cap. Prices were just right for the quality of the food. My wife and I are from CT. and found this place by chance. When we come back this way again this will be the first place we dine!!!
They had a great selection of really great food on the menu for starters mains and desserts. My starter was amazing, my main was good and I skipped desserts as the portions were quite big. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere and decor was very warm and cosy.
Excellent every time! Comfortable setting, awesome waitstaff. Menu is always fantastic.
Awesome food, atmosphere and wait staff. Well worth the price. Make reservations!
Great for celiacs! Everything is delicious. They use a lot of dairy in their cooking.
Great meal and service. thank you!
The food and staff were good. Make reservations ahead of time, even for early in the week. There isn't a ton of room, and the prices are a bit high.
Outstanding service and the quality of the food was amazing!!! Totally recommend if you are visiting Stowe VT. The ambiance is cozy, in absolutely accordance with the style.
Best place we ate in stowe
Delicious food haigly recorded
Had a reservation for 8:30 which I thought it was a little late but where me and my wife are from it's an hour behind and it was well worth the wait. Me and my wife showed up at 8 o'clock set at the bar for drinks which Jenn was very professional with making the drink
This restaurant is a hidden gem of Stowe. My wife and I were so lucky to be seated there without reservation. Our generous hostess did everything possible to find a table for us. Service was outstanding and all staff were tremendously friendly. My wife ordered venison flake stake and I went with grilled stake tips. O-my-God! Those tips were incredible. They were a masterpiece of a culinary art perfectionism. They slowly melt in my mouth delivering astonishing experience and merry enjoyment at both inception and aftertaste phases of tasting fine foods. They were so good that I truly wanted to thank chef personally and even give him a friendly hug. Harrison’s chef should be on TV! I have rarely tasted meat cooked so impeccably. Overall, this restaurant has a European feel and atmosphere. It has great selection of wines and beers. Next time we are in Stowe, we will certainly visit Harrison’s restaurant again.
Terrific entree. Best fish dish I've had in years. Good service.
What a gem. My daughter wanted a place with vegan alternatives, and this was it. Loved it
So many wonderful choices! I couldn't decide so I asked the bartender and he mentioned the venison and I had no regrets. My husband ordered the ribeye. Both great choices but between the two, I was so happy my meal was the venison! A+!!!! The appetizer we had was the brie. That plate included brie, grapes, strawberries, blueberries and pear. It can make a delicious light meal all on its own.
Great food and service
Very cozy, high end pub type restaurant. Highly recommend the Coconut crusted ahi. Great flavors.
We had an absolutely phenomenal meal here. Food was really delicious. Great wine list. The place is very small so for dinner I would recommend reservations. However, my sister and I called early (around 4:30) and they were able to seat us right away. This place is wonderful.
Whoops! That review was on the wrong restaurant! Sorry Andrew, your restaurant is awesome, and it certainly isn't McDonalds lol
Great food and drinks. Good service.
Do yourself a favor and go to Harrison’s for dinner! It’s a cozy place with friendly staff and delicious food. We ordered Asiago fries, steak tips(not pictured), venison, and profiteroles. The venison was the most tender, least gamey venison I’ve ever had. The combination of the meat with Gorgonzola, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and bacon is magical. Melts in your mouth! Dessert was spot on. I know we’ll be back here next time we’re in town.
Great food. Great service. A little pricey at first glance but well worth it. The basement restaurant was full so we took a patio table but so glad we did. It was a cool night but the patio was heated. Well worth it & highly recommended.
Cool spot. Nice and accommodating staff. Recommend the crab cakes... Pretty busy but chilled out vibe.
Great dinner outside under the awning.
Strong and deep menu with lots of different options. Ambiance is cozy. It is family friendly without being Fridays. Start with the mussels (served in a cream sauce), calamari (lightly breaded with sweet and hot peppers) and chicken fingers (boneless with a little kick). Then go with the seafood: the coconut ahi tuna is done to perfection and the pecan encrusted salmon is delicious. Service is strong and the beer selections are fairly deep. Desserts lag a little behind the rest of the menu.
We love to go to Harrison's and sit at the bar. The bartenders and wait staff are great there. I think the food is some of the best in town. Would highly recommend checking it out for dinner. You should make a reservation if you're here on a busy weekend.
Good food good service.
Popular spot for tourists and locals. Reservations highly recommended (or come early and sit at the bar, but even then you may have to wait). Small and cozy basement space, but it never felt crowded. Amazingly well run. Owner sometimes moonlights as bartender!
Very nice place for a dinner night out with the wife. Beverage selection was OK, not great for a restaurant here in VT. Food was overall good. And the service was great
Awesome dinner here with my wife, will definitely be back
Such a great place and the food was amazing
Hands down best restaurant in Stowe! Reservations are highly suggested! Super cozy vibes accompanied by fantastic food and drinks makes this place THE place to dine. I love that the menu rotates seasonally, and can’t wait for the watermelon and feta salad to come back for summer. From steaks, pasta and seafood and everything in between, you’ll find a new favorite! Make sure to save room for dessert, the peanut butter pie is to die for!
Go back every year on vacation. Great for a romantic dinner and also the family. Make reservations as the place is not very big. The daily specials are always amazing. Best place to eat in Stowe!
Didn't even get to eat the food... They somehow cancelled my reservation that was done by The Lodge. The Lodge confirmed in their system that the reservation was good. Harrison's did nothing to help resolve the issue and because of this, I had to find an alternative for my wife and I to celebrate our first-anniversary. This really sucks because we drove four and a half hours from Ottawa and I had all the wine and meals planned out. Harrison's you have been blacklisted from me because you just don't care...
Harrison's for great food, ambiance and service. It is our go to place for special occasions.
One of the best dinners we have ever had! I will be dreaming of the pecan salmon, the drinks were spectacular, and the pie!!! Oh my gosh, dont leave without trying the pie.
The garlic and spinach hummus was delicious! The duck quesadilla was great but a little too charred for me. The pork rib sandwich is also a must have!
Excellent food and service! Highly recommend.
Great experience. Great food. A little difficult to find.
What a great place! Waitstaff was incredibly kind and the food was incredible. Make sure you make a reservation well in advance, or you’ll be waiting for a while for a table.
Lovely restaurant excellent service and food
Ribeye, pork tenderloin, asiago fries as appetizer. Sat at bar and had a great meal. Recommend reservation if you want to sit in the dining area though. Either way an excellent place to eat.
Good food and service... Small and intimate.
Not one bad meal here. Stayed in Stowe and went through a handful of restaurants to eat. My wife and I loved this place so much, we decided to come back the second night in a row.
I would describe these are artisans meals because they clearly take the time and effort to present you with a work of art. They were very busy with full reservations for the indoor dining. Take note, the indoor dining is down stairs and appeared loud and cozy at the same time. Instead we waited for a table on the outside deck, a wise decision I can now say. I highly recommend coming here for dinner if you're in the area, I wish to return for seconds myself.
Read so many great reviews however, was not blown away. Waitress was amazing, hostess not so much. Maybe it was an off night, but we did not feel that it lived up to the reviews.
We dined here as a large group of 6 on our recent weekend trip to Stowe. The staff and servers were very accommodating for our larger party. The food is delicious! The crab cakes were the best I’ve had. And the scallops melted in my mouth. Would recommend!
Higher end dinner, very good food!
My wife and I decided to try this restaurant after reading the reviews and previewing the menu. We were not at all disappointed. The food was excellent. My scallops were cooked to perfection and so was the sesame crusted tuna my wife had. We will definitely be back.
The menu options, food quality, service, and overall experience were great here. Definitely make a reservation especially on weekends, the Saturday night we were there they were literally turning people away because of a lack of capacity. Would highly recommend though!
Great food, great service. Very nice place!
There is nothing negative about this place at all. The restaurant is down a flight of stairs and it's a cozy place full of friendly staff and happy people eating and drinking outrageously delicious food and drinks. From the duck to the risotto and the fish tacos this place does it all beautifully. We live in New Jersey and come from New York, so we have eaten in many restaurants with excellent chefs. Harrison's is right up there with the best of them. Wear your jeans, get dressed up if it makes you feel happy to do so, either way you will not be sorry. One visit is never enough, we always reserve 2 nights during our weeks stay in the area. It's casual, cozy and delicious. The blueberry lemonade (hard) is wonderful too. What's not to love?
Small location but good food - just make a reservation if you can. I ordered the caprice salad with chicken and they gave two breasts of chicken when I figured they would only give one so I should have had less of that fantastic bread but oh well. Worth stopping in and a hint - it's downstairs as it was a quiet night and it took us a second to find.
Excellent EVERYTHING! Warm cozy fireplace! Excellent food-excellent service! ♡
Make a reservation otherwise you can sit at the bar, if you get a spot. The bar is first come first served.
Great time. Nice setting, great food
Their mixed salad was very tasty with the caramelized pecan and vinegerate dressing. The vegetarian tofu carbonara is the tastiest vegetarian dish I have for a long time. Thanks to the local orthopaedic surgeon who I met on my way to Burlington.
The finest food and drink, most charming ambiance and staff. Make a reservation (you'll need it) and they'll seat you immediately. Don't miss it whole you're in Stowe! The crab cakes were the best I ever had! The service right on point. Definitely start with cocktails.
Exelant food, great servis!
Great food. Good ambience. Modest prices. Need reservations.
Excellent contemporary fare, unique indoor space, great cocktails and dessert.
Good beer selection. Venison was cooked well and season perfectly. Recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal
The food was excellent in every way and we will go back. This being said, the resto needs to think more about customer service. We were not, for example, offered more bread when we finished up the tasty rolls. It would also appear that we were given the bum's rush when we approached the two hour time limit they seem to have imposed on us. We were summarily handed the bill with our dessert. Coffee was not offered. Refills were not offered after we ordered coffee anyway. The coffee came with the bill ! Obviously, an after-dinner drink was not offered. Harrison's needs to do better.
Great restaurant with outside seating. The pan-seared sea scallops were amazing. My wife had the Salmon and was equally satisfied. We were staying in Stowe for a few nights and ate at Harrison's 2 of the 3 nights....that's how good it was.
Food was delicious. My husband had the venison. It was delicious. I had to have some of his food and wished I had gotten what he had. The meat was done rare. So if you want your meat cooked more, make sure you let them know. It is a nice, small, cozy restaurant. You need to make reservations before going as it feels up quickly. Nice place for a romantic dinner.
Had an amazing dinner here. Very reasonable pricing for the quality of the food and the portion size. I had the venison flank steak which was really tasty. It had lots of flavor and the bleu cheese, mushrooms, spinach, and potatoes went really well with it. Dessert was good too. Highly recommend this place, but make sure you have a reservation! I've heard some horror stories of people trying to get in but had to wait for very long times because the place was so filled.
Food was very good. Reservation is a must. Will go back.
Astonishing taste, good service, familiar place to have a few beers and have a nice time
Cosy atmosphere below ground level. Quite small. Good food and good service.
Really good food and service.
Great food great service
Fantastic place. Very secluded. Staff is amazing and extremely nice. And they have the best key lime pie I've ever had.
Great local spot. Off season hours vary though so double check ahead!
This place has atmosphere, lively bar and great appetizers. Must try the boneless chicken tenders
Good food and loved the soup
Great food, drinks, and service!
Absolutely spectacular food.
Quaint, cozy restaurant in Stowe center to grab a nice meal and a good drink after a day on the mountain.
Amazing food and great atmosphere
Food and drinks were very good
Great food and drink!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Stowe, hands down. As you enter, you go down a stairway into the very cozy dinning room. The Steak Tips are my favorite. If town is busy, I'd suggest calling a day ahead to make reservations.
Terrific food in a unique location. The decor is elegant charm.
Amazing food and great service. Very glad we visited.
I've never had a bad meal here. The mussels are delicious. Tonight my husband had one of the specials, veal tomahawk, excellent. I had the venison flank steak, also excellent. Definitely worth it.
We came into Harrisons on a week night for dinner, and of course (as is our usual) didn't bother looking ahead to book reservations. First of all, I would highly recommend it, as the place was packed. You come down a stairwell and find yourself in a cozy restaurant that was absolutely perfect. We were lucky (not just because we were hungry, but also because service ended up being perfect) to find some seats at the bar. We ordered a few drinks from the specials, and also the wings for appetizers. They were perfectly cooked and a great balance of spicy and sweet. For dinner, my wife and I both got the same thing (very adventerous), which was the mixed green salad with the beef tips, and it was exactly what we wanted. The meat was perfectly cooked, the salad very fresh, and most importantly, the balsamic maple dressing was truly out of this world. Our bartender (I didn't catch her name) was busy as can be, but still found all the time to be kind, helpful, and attentive. She was absolutely awesome. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Stowe!
Great service and amazing food! Had the fried calamari, shrimp tacos and burger.
We went to Harrison's in December, a time with lots of skiers and tourists. We came without a reservation so we were only able to sit at the bar (suggestion: make a reservation!). The bartender was very warm and hospitable and highly knowledgeable about alcohols, particularly those local to Stowe and Vermont. The food was delicious, and there were several vegetarian options! This is not a cheap place due to the higher demand during the winter season (high season). We would come back.
Food was excellent. Venison was very tender and flavorful. After dinner Irish coffees topped off a perfect dinner.
Great food, atmosphere. And service!
Great food, lovely combinations of flavours. You must book early!
My wife and I made reservations based on these great reviews. We were greeted and seated immediately by a friendly hostess. We were expecting a great meal and great service. We did get a great meal, the food was excellent. The waitress on the other hand processed us from start to finish. We were not asked once if we were satisfied with any part of our meal. We were never asked if we needed anything else. I could write a book about what ruined an evening out with my wife. I did write a note on the back of the check explaing why My wife and I only tipped her one dollar. If you want good food and don't care about being serviced, in my opinion this is the right place for you
Great service great food
Great food. Great atmosphere. We went twice in the three days we stayed in Stowe. Service was excellent and the food. I'll mention the food again because it was that delicious.
We dined here twice on our recent trip to Stowe. I have to say that this is the best dining experience I have had in Stowe. Each time the service and food were exceptional . I had the venison dish the second night and it was the best I have ever had, anywhere. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, it’s not loud, like most places today. A true gem in the heart of Stowe.
Friendly staff, cozy environment and amazing food.
Rare find on the heart of Stowe! Tantalizingly delicious. Roasted Duck paired exquisitely with Pinot Noir reduction and pea coulis. Hat's-Off to the chef! Extensive wine selection. We were surprised by the Stonecap Cabernet too.
Romantic atmosphare, delicious food, fire plsce and good service
There is no doubt Harrison's is a local favorite. The early starting dinner hours (4:30) make it perfect for a night where you have additional plans, or want to grab an early dinner coming off the mountain before the kids fade. Family owned and staffed with friendly servers. Classic American menu - something for everyone. Reservations are always a good idea, as they tend to get packed. Parking can be tricky, but it's easy to find a spot elsewhere in town and stroll over to the restaurant.
Went here for a dinner in the fall. Make sure you have reservations because for dinner it gets booked up. The food was very good and they had a good selection of GF options. It was a little expensive though but worth it. It is a cozy place with a nice warm intimate feel.
It’s a small place and reservations probably a good idea but we sat at bar and had fantastic meals and outstanding service. Couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Awesome food, cozy atmosphere, nice wait staff, I 'd give it 10 stars
Pricey, but food is great! Can't go wrong no matter what you order
Calamari is great they give u a ginger dip which is a nice vacation from Mariners. They give you Mariners though to switch it up. The steak tips are excellent. The sea bass special was done well and not greasy at all. There was also pork belly with a potato hash which was excellent
Reservations essential. Intimate, cozy space. Incredible food and service from fresh fish to vegetarian options and sandwiches. Good value for the price. Plates are rustic and beautifully presented. Service is exceptional. Do not miss the homemade desserts. Carrot cake and profiteroles especially. Could not have had a more delicious dining experience. Staff truly made me feel welcomed.
Packed on a Friday night. Better have a reservation or plan on dinner at 9. Even the bar had a wait of 15 minutes for a seat.
Loved this place. Cozy, nice bar, kind staff, and good food. Visited three times in a week’s vacation. A must visit when you are in Stowe. It’s top rated for a reason.
Very interesting atmosphere, makes you feel like you're in an old speakeasy. Drink selection is decent and food selection is quite diverse, I had trouble choosing what to get as everything sounded delicious. I went with the venison flank steak which was very good with a generous portion for the price point. I will definitely go here again.
It was a great meal. we had the venison (which was very tasty) and the catfish which was really delish and a surprising large portion. there's a lovely dining room (and a bar too), with exposed beams, nice music and a fireplace. A refreshing change from the loud/annoying music most of the Stowe restaurants play. More expensive yes, but worth the extra cost.
Excellent food and service in a very friendly place.
I went to Vermont (from Mass) for a short birthday weekend getaway, we found this gem via Google Reviews, we were very happy with our choice. Harrison's offered perfect portion sizes, a quiet atmosphere, tasty entrees and great service. I'm definitely glad that we had our one and only dinner in Vermont, at Harrison's - we will be returning! Thank you for making our stay a pleasant, and positive one.
Great restaurant; amazing food, excellent service & drinks. Worth the wait for the bar if you do not have reservations.
Fabulous little restaurant. Mussels were delicious. Just enough garlic, not overpowering. Strawberry, avocado, mixed greens, almonds with a light salad dressing was yummy! So glad we decide to try this restaurant. Will definitely go back!
Always perfect service and delicious food!!!! Love this restaurant .
It was a beautiful evening in Stowe. We got to sit on the covered porch. The food was good for everyone and the waitstaff was attentive. Felt like a local favorite. I'm not a fan of the tourist trap restaurants, and this one definitely didn't fall in that category.
Phenomenal dinner. Food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. Prince Edward island mussels were delicious! And the staff was friendly and and excellent recommendations, and even provided some samples of a sauce, when my wife was unsure about what to choose. This was a great experience all around.
Awesome restaurant. The wait staff know the food on the menu and are willing to make recommendations after asking about your preferences. Restaurant is small but cozy and reservations are a must. Had the venison steak tonight.... amazing!
Absolutely fantastic meal and drinks. A must visit while in Stowe. Reservations are recommended. Service at the bar was extraordinary.
Excellent cream of mushroom soup. Carbonara Tofu tasty but noodles too solidified.
We had an amazing meal. The venison flank steak was awesome as were the scallops. We had to eat at the bar because we did not make a reservation thinking a Thursday night would not busy but the palace was packed (it is tiny too prolly only 15 tables). So next time we would make a reservation but if we find ourselves back in Stowe we will certainly easy here again!
Wow...everytime we come here, Harrison's does not dissappoint! This place has held down the best food in the area for years. Kudos for staying true to your roots!
Pasta was good, but the steak was disappointing.
We planned ahead and made reservations for dinner. We were looking forward to a nice evening. When we arrived we were placed in a very uncomfortable booth with a hard back. My husband asked to be moved to the one across the aisle with a padded back, but they refused due to the fact that someone had already reserved that particular booth because of the padded back. The booth was still empty when we left. Other booths opened up but, again, we were told they were reserved. That set the tone for the evening. They could have cared less about our comfort. Won't go back. Shame on them. Food was good, but we did not leave happy.
Just incredible
Great space...great service...I really wanted to say great food, but I just can't. It was okay..
Make reservations well in advance. We had to sit at the bar which was fine. Food was outstanding. Great service and excellent bar with good wine selections available by the glass.
Really good ambiance and food was delicious. Had the broccoli cheddar soup and new york strip which was cooked perfectly.
This restaurant was perfect ! We didn't make a reservation but we were lucky enough to have a table for two, so calling for one is a must ! Our waitress was beyond friendly & made sure to answer all of our questions on the menu ! She suggested the daily special and I must say it was delicious! The wine was also very good, exactly to my taste! Overall my experience at Harrison's was excellent! Warm, cozy and very welcoming !
Reservations required? I'm not sure why. I don't like to give anyone a bad review so I will say this, "Our service was great."
Delightful meal in a delightful restaurant. I had seared scallops and they cooked to perfection. For afters profiteroles - exceptional.
Great food. Great service.
Great food and great service at a cozy, comfortable place. Unfortunately I can only give it 3 stars. My son's water glass exploded in his hand while the glass rim was in his mouth, breaking into numerous small pieces of glass. Thank God he wasn't hurt by the incident, and I know the restaurant staff didn't plan on that happening of course. However, considering that it did happen my wife and I were shocked that at least a discount on our $121 bill or even not charging us for one of our appetizers was offered as a sign of good business. Its just the common sense right thing to do. It should have been offered without hesitation. Unfortunatly nowadays common sense isn't that common.
This meal was among the best I've ever had, no matter the price. It's clear that the chef knows how to combine flavors. The warm salad served under the scallops was magnifique. The sauce and onions served with the steak tips were heavenly. The blackened steelhead was wonderful with the roasted red pepper sauce. Service was top notch and friendly. I wish I lived nearby so I could come here often. Better make reservations now. It's packed! Well deservedly.
Absolutely fabulous meal and service!!
Great food and drinks!
Exceptional food. A bit pricey but great value considering the quality. One or two drinks and tip will put you well above $30 a person. Located in the basement and very cozy, which could be a deterrent, especially for larger parties. During summer months though they do have tables upstairs and outside. Highly recommended. Call ahead to make sure they have room.
The food here was amazing!!! Definitely make sure to make a reservation if you want to dine. We almost didn't, and after we got there and there was no open tables for walk-ins we we're glad we did. 100% will come back here again!
Havent really eaten here, but......apps and cocktails at the bar is great! The barkeep does a great job. Small bar. Only seats 12 or so. The restaurant has lots of tables and booths. Cosy ambiance.
