This Restaurant is included in the category of Mexican restaurant.
The best Mexican food I've had since I left California. The flavors jumped off my plate and partied on my tongue. Server was a bit shy, but made sure we were happy
Great food, free chips and salsa, and live music. Loved it!
Best breakfast burrito I ever had. Get it smothered! Dennis at the bar was fantastic and good company.
Taco Tuesday is a great value. The homemade tortillas are delicious and plentiful chips and salsa. It would be nice to have a free more options for salsa or hot sauce but the one option is tasty.
Very good food, great vibe and chill location. Good selection of food and beer. Not overly priced. Worth a visit for sure.
I love the food, margaritas need more booze, just not good! Service needs to get better, but it's new, they will get it, I want them to do well!
Great food! Great family business!
Good stuff. The food is inexpensive for what you get, the ingredients are good (shredded pork is my favorite), and the atmosphere is relaxed. It's a bit cold in the winter, but hey, the food offsets that nicely.
Amazing food. The best Mexican food in the state by far. Fantastic service and fair prices. I come here at least weekly.
Great Tex-Mex restaurant in Morrisville! Good food and a very reasonable price. Late night music on the weekends.
The food is bland and unimaginative as well as poorly presented, no where near authentic. Service is mediocre at best. Flavorless. Cold, dirty atmosphere. Bathrooms were disgusting! However, the entertainment was terrific.
I love El toro! Especially their hot sauce and guacamole. Their shrimp tacos are also pretty amazing. And almost everything is gluten free!
The Verde sauce is great
Poor management and Terrible Food. We dined there last night. After waiting a long time for our food, I had a burrito, taco and enchilada combo. My friend ordered a similar option. I asked for shredded beef. It was in only one item. My friend asked for chicken and she ended up with beef in her taco. They did fix that, however, the new taco they gave had cold chicken in it. They used so much watery sauce that the tortilla's were soggy. As the three of us visited hostess/manager took away our glasses of water and beverages she said "You aren't going to be here much longer are you." If she had paid attention to her customer she would have noticed that we were doling out our cash to pay the bill.
Authentic Mexican you can tell everything is homemade. Had a beef burrito and chicken enchiladas both excellent . Very reasonably priced stop in for you Mexican fix.
Delicious dinner, look forward to eating here again!
Good food, but inconsistent. I loved the pork burrito, ordered again 3 days later and was burnt tasting and dry. Have been several times and only served chips at my table once. The service is slow and they don't check in during your meal. Had to ask the bartender if I could pay my check because the server never came back.
warm and quite! great breakfast borito, good coffee, friendly service, owner onsight !!!
My wife and I go to El Toro almost every week... Usually we go to for breakfast on our day off, they have great breakfast burritos. I highly suggest getting the burrito with chorizo smothered. The mild red is hot enough for me but if you want some extra kick go for the hot red! They have great dinner and lunch options as well.
One good thing about el Torro is that it is open later than the majority of the restaurants in Mo'ville. When we got there they were running short of the good Tequilla and some of the draft beer which was a disappointment. Now the food. It's okay but is it great? No. But the price is not so bad but the portion size is small. There are various grades on their 'hotness' which can be tailored to your taste. Overall, would I go again? Only if I was seriously hungry.
Shrimp tacos and Tecate....cheap yummy eats and cheap beer mmm
Wow! Friendly atmosphere and staff. We ate outside on a sunny day. There are good drinks specials and generous servings. I had the smothered burrito and my mom enchiladas. I'm glad we stopped at this intimate Mexican restaurant.
I love everything about this place.
The food is okay, WAY overpriced. I ordered to go (two burritos, four tacos, a cup of soup) $69! Once I ordered I was ignored for an hour until my order came out, then I was short one burrito.
Stopped and got wings and a margarita, staff was excellent and food was on point
Best food in town, and good price! Will eat here again!
Taco Tuesday was great.
Great breakfast burritos - on par with some of the best I had in New Mexico. I could eat theirs every day and be happy.
Fantastic tacos in a chic, inviting space.
Menu items weren't as expected, but service was good.
Menu items are unclear. Tacos (plural) mean multiple not a single. And a six dollar taco is a rip off. Lettuce was brown and bruised, salsa so runny you could not get it to your mouth with out dripping all over the table. Portions were tiny. Waitress was rude.
Our Friday night go to! Fantastic
Great atmosphere & Great food!
Best Mexican food in the state of Vermont, hands down!
Great food, great pricing, fun place to eat!.
Oh my god. The service was horrible and our waitress was so weird. The food was the worst mexican food I've ever had in my life. My burrito was cold and my burrito came in a cheap dry tortilla. I've never been to a restaurant that messes up refried beans until I went to El Toro. They were weirdly salty and tasted like dirty dishwater. My rice was also crunchy. After I ate there I wished so badly that I wouldn't have to pay for it. I would never ever recommend eating here. Just don't.
Taco Tuesday is great deal
Good food, friendly service, and good live entertainment on Saturday nights.
Little pricey for the offerings, except in Tuesday's.
Excellent restaurant! Extensive menu, good prices & delicious food.
Outstanding great true Mexican food
Delicous food and a great atmpsphere
Breakfast burritos and kombucha
Cozy local mexican cafe. Service was excellent and food was good.
For was ok. Prove was good. Serving was small. A little disappointed in the menu, as the was not much to offer. Great Margaritas. Fresh lemon and lime, you can traste it.
Great local joint! Good food and local brews in a great and relaxed setting! Great for quick eats or a three-hour lunch, as we had the other day ;-)
Authentic and delicious!!
5$ Margaritas on Wed, Taco Tuesday's, what!!? Good staff, good food, always consistent.
Margaritas and food are delicious! Have encountered some minor mistakes on orders but staff was always kind and attentive to correcting the order.
Best TexMex I have had in years!
Fantastic Mexican food and live music
Margaritas were the only good thing! Way overpriced! Tiny, and I mean tiny, dish of queso and dish of salsa $5.00 each! Beans and rice on a taco plate were extra $ and there was like a tablespoon of rice and a tablespoon of dried up beans-must have been left over from last week. Not edible! Will not go back ever!
Up from My visiting a family member and this was an excellent place for a drink and bite to eat.
Some of the best Mexican food in the area!
Taco Tuesdays are a great deal! The tacos were great, but you'll need a few of them. Be careful with the chips and salsa they bring to each table, they're real good so don't fill up too much. They also make a real "crunch wrap supreme" that blows taco bell out of the water. Staff was super friendly. Will stop back next time I'm in town!
Taco tuesday. Half off. Good food and open mic.
Good food.
Yummy Mexican food done well, great cocktails, really good service.
This is not authentic Mexican food. We lived in Southern California for many years and El Toro in Morrisville serves by no means authentic Mexican food. For starters, they don't have hot sauce. Their "hot" sauce is tomato based. Not authentic. Their food is bland. No flavor profile, just bland. The Margarita wasn't crafted on site, it was a pre-bottled mix. The "Green Chili Poutine" consisted of 8 slices of potato wedges swimming in a bland sauce, some lone cheese curds and a couple of drips of bland green chili sauce. The staff was nice enough but even the waitress had to admit that their "hot" sauce wasn't hot sauce. Honestly, any food truck in LA serves more authentic Mexican food.
Great staff, have to like real Mexican food to eat here. I was not impressed but my fiancé loved it. Even got extra food because they messed up an order.
Decent standard Mexican menu.
Authentic southwestern cuisine that leaves you satisfied and feeling content. The only (New) Mexican restaurant that I have found in Vermont to satisfy my hunger for a hearty meal from home. Seasonally has hatch green chile available for those wanting that New Mexican/Colorado kick!
The most on point menu in Vermont! I love this place! No carne adovada though :(
A tasty spot with a cool funk. I generally am there for lunches and always leave full n satisfied.
Great people not great food
Low key place for a nice romantic date, outside seating, and cocktails!
Excellent meal and entertainment!
Food is good but pretty expensive. The low stars is because of the staff, particularly the bartender. I stopped going here a year ago but wanted to try it again hoping the service was better. I was wrong. Bartender is disrespectful, very inappropriate, and really comes across as a huge tool. Again good food but horrible staff
Amazing food. Worth the trip every time.
We have been going to El Toro for a few months now and it has officially become our ONLY lunch place. The food is SPECTACULAR and Paul the bartender always keeps us laughing. Today we had the green chile poutine and it is my new favorite! You can't go wrong with any item on the menu (especially if it has the shredded pork on it). Great Margaritas, Great Food and Great Waitstaff! Go now... you won't regret it!
I have eaten here 3 times, 2 times in house and 1 take out, i recommencement you eat in house, our take out order was wrong, but they did make it right but had to make two trips there and back home so we all did not get to eat together. the two time i ate in house the service was good, we got fresh tortilla chips and house salsa just after being seated. the food came out hot and fresh. I will continue to eat here.
Taco salad was just a little lettuce on top of tortilla chips. Not how it was described on the menu.
Awesome music, great food, cool waitstaff...
Bijou Bill says all around excellent.
We love it here. Great food (though it could be a little spicier) great margaritas, atmosphere and most importantly staff!! We will definitely return every chance we get.
Great food!
Awesome food with a saucy, spicy and very friendly and funny bar keep to match the food. We had a very good meal and a great time.
Margaritas where awesome and the food was super tasty. Great place to eat, great atmosphere!
Ssssoooooo gggoooooooooooddddd?
Wasn't what I expected
Delish!
I've given this restaurant far far too many chances. I've had 2 wonderful experiences at this establishment shortly after they opened. Since then, it's been endless screw-ups and poor food. Clearly, take-out isn't taken seriously. They've never gotten one order correct. EVER. The most memorable is when we ordered stuff quesadillas and requested them to have pork and black beans inside. We also ordered chips and salsa. We get home to our food and discover the jammed our quesadillas full of crunch dry chips and gave us a vat up black beans in a tin. After that, we gave up on take-out from El Toro. Fast forward some time, we go in for a meal. We order... and wait... and wait... and wait. Finally our server comes to us, and we expect the whole, "sorry your food is taking a while, it will be up shortly". Nope! She asks us if we'd like desert or anything else before bringing the check. Finally, yesterday, the straw that broke the Toro's back! We get our usual. I take a couple bites and discover that a good portion of our rice is uncook (or too cooked). My girlfriends second side of her food was completely inedible due to the rice. I could literally take it out of my mouth and throw it on the plate and it would ping. When we brought this to their attention, the offered zero resolution. They're a bunch of air heads who are garbage at what they do.
I mean I get it, small town, probably not a lot of business, but to be honest you're better off going to the RiteAid around the corner and having dinner there. The food here was extremely Bland, they're burrito pretty much taste like somebody got a can of shredded chicken and drenched it with chili pepper sauce , and the rest of the food taste freezer burnt. And I'm pretty sure the cooks were 15 years old. you're smacked in the face with the smell of BO as soon as you walk in the door, smells like somebody's sweaty disgusting armpits. I mean you're pretty limited when it comes to restaurants around here, but you're better off getting a frozen dinner somewhere at a supermarket. Much better off.
I can't really say this is authentic Mexican food, but it's tasty and that's all that really matters. Patio was great.
Nice people in bar
Great food and service
Best spicy Mango margaritas and homemade tortillas. Service is great.
Perhaps my expectations were higher because I grew up eating authentic Mexican food. Not spicy enough for me, I do recommend folks try it though.
Food was good. Prices reasonable. Small but fun place. Polite staff. Live musicians was nice. Place gets busy. Low key. Very casual. I'd go again.
Great food needs more private dinning space
Best food in town and definitely the best Mexican food in VT!!
Always delicious and affordable. Had a chicken taco and some chili fries, both were great!
Ate there again recently. Tacos and margarita, yum!
Awesome meal, great atmosphere and service.
Very tasty Mexican fare. Wonderful, fresh salsas.
Real homemade Mexican food served up by wonderful people. If the hot green Chile is not hot enough, ask for diced Jalapeno.
Loved it!!
Great updated film of B&J history.
Best Mexican food around.
A little small but great environment. Friendly staff! Live music was wonderful.
Went for Tuesday Taco lunch. Margaritas were good. Food arrived quickly. Fresh and tasty. Excellent gluten-free salsa and numerous gluten-free choices. Interesting photography exhibit on walls. Liked the simple and friendly ambiance.
Fantastic! Homemade chips & guac is a must. The fish tacos are the best on the menu!!!!
Food was great and well priced. Very cozy and friendly establishment. The artwork and decoration is lovely. Drinks are tasty too. We even had some live music which was an unexpected surprise. Definitely worth a stop while passing through town.
Went on a Friday. A band was there so it was packed (reservations next time). Food was good, fresh tasting. Mild red sauce is spicier than typical--etter make sure you have your drink first.
Tacky wall art, but the food was good. Also Guac was 2$ and came in a very small quantity but was delectable nonetheless. Halfway through the mean an authentic cowboy walked in. When the iffy live music started the happy cowboy danced at the bar.
Very nice Mexican restaurant for a small town, nicely done!
Extremely friendly to customers. Excellent food. We will be back. Congats on 6 months being open. We really enjoyed your establishment. Here again. Just a great little place to eat. 02/27. 04/22 Say hello to Paul behind the bar. Thank you for the great food. The people making the negative reviews are just that, negative. You can never please everyone. Their loss, go eat somewhere else. This place has great food and is consistent every time. April 7th was there 1 year anniversary. Congratulations!!! 5-25-18 Thanks for another great dinner.
Great food, a favorite restaurant when in VT
I have always given el toro a “second chance” (finding hair in a burrito (and “third chance”(not getting what you ordered) and I have convinced other people who swore it off to go back- but I think unfortunately after today it’s a never again situation. Went there tonight with family and as we all ordered drinks and our order, one of the people in my party kindly asked to order a smothered burrito -with beans and cheese on the inside since it’s something we have been ordering since they opened and it had never been an issue. We were told by Ashley (and not very kindly) that “ that was not an option, the restaurant is too busy” Oh. Ok . Too busy to add a scoop of beans and cheese to someone’s burrito ? That has to be assembled ? After we asked for some more clarity on the situation as in - why is it that on a dry burrito is possible-but having it smothered means it’s impossible- we were given plenty of attitude and rude explanations. One person in my party who frequents this place often. Mentioned that with that kind of service they may end up losing business to which the server replied “NO, I don’t think so” (May I add the restaurant was not a mob-I’ve worked in hospitality and a busy cafe to know the difference) needless to say- it’s not what you say and how you say it.
Excellent food, service ok. It was the xmas holiday!
Good food and spirits
Just ate here today for lunch. I grew up in southern California and lived in Phoenix for 15 years. I have tried just about every version of Mexican food (including Mexican :)). I was hopeful for El Toro because I am living in a salsa desert now. To start with, I waited at the front door until the bartender went and told the waitress she had a customer. After sitting, I was served with chips and salsa, a tradition for such a place. The salsa was tasty but VERY watery. I asked about any specialties of the house and the stuffed quesadilla was recommended. I asked for chicken and the hot green sauce. It was served with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. The waitress said this second salsa would be like pico de gallo. It was more like chopped tomatoes. The meal was very bland. My senses detected no hot green sauce. Noticed she wasn't coming to check on me so I went to ask for some of the watery salsa (because it had more flavor). Found her handling her phone behind the curtain. She said that was the hot sauce and brought me some. Hot sauce? No, it barely qualifies as medium, but the meal tasted better with a drowning of that sauce. I guess it's hard to really mess up Mexican food but I am still looking for something to write about. Update: I have to drop my rating. Walked in to this place again yesterday at lunch time to give them another chance and order something different. Waited at the “Please Wait to be Seated” sign, and waited, and waited, and left. There were three people at the bar, but no one behind it. There were two people at a table but no waitress. Does anyone work here?
Good Tex-Mex.
Great food, great atmosphere, nice staff
Service was ok. My husbands burrito was fine, but they were very limited on fillings and I saw they use mission tortillas. My Chile rellanos were so burned. It was like there was no batter crust on them. The two that you get seems more like one split in half. They serve it with a Pico garnish but it's so bland, and no red sauce. They have one house salsa but its very watery. Beans and rice tastes like they had been sitting. We moved here from the SouthWest and have been looking for some comfort food but this was very disappointing.
A single shredded pork taco a la carte cost $7. That's more than double New York prices.
Tiny, tiny, tiny burritos. It wouldn't be bad if they were half the price, but it's $9 for the world's smallest burrito.
We adore El Toro! Genuine, authentic - awesome!!!
Best Mexican food in Vermont!
Truly the only original southwestern cuisine in the entire northeast. The food is unbelievable , the service pleasant and the cost is moderate. This is a place to visit for breakfast , lunch or dinner. Also featuring tuesday discounts and nightime live entertainment. As a traveler this is the kind of place I hope to fine .Thank You!
Great cozy restaurant, excellent margaritas! Food is tasty and affordable
Awesome place. Mexican that tastes like it was made that day! It has so much natural flavors! The service was very quick and efficient also. A hidden gem in Vermont.
Great authentic Mexican food! We will be regulars from here on out!
It was awesome as always
