The staff is attentive, almost competitive with each other to get the customer *their* freshest offerings. I recognize the wait staff from Chau Chau City and from Hei La Moon in Ctown, downtown. My palate recognizes that these chefs and cooks know their chops and bring authenticity to Dim Sum. China Star gets 5 of my stars 'cause I know Dim Sum and I know China Star brings it!

I went with my friend because he recommended it. He said it was good and when i walked in, that was my first impression but tbh I didn't care for any of the food at all. My friend however enjoyed it and ended up grabbing a lot, which ultimately came out too a larger than expected bill which i didn't have too much of a problem with cause I gave it a try and didn't like it, this wasn't my problem. My Problem was that the waitress after i paid for my bill, which was pretty hefty btw, points at the tip place and not even joking starts a fight with me over tipping and she refused to let me leave without leaving a tip of some sort, which i didn't want to do because obviously hated the food, why would i tip. My friend and i got separate checks, so he paid half and tipped already but this lady still started with me over a tip demanding it was mandatory that i also give one, which i went on telling her that i didn't enjoy the food and didn't think she was worthy of a tip but you know i didn't want my friend to feel awkward if he ever went back there, so i tipped anyway and just left. Disgusting behavior in my opinion.

Went a few times already. Guess today will be the last. Experienced very nasty plates and cups. You can imagine the kitchen is not sanitary. I ordered "kitchen" oyster, suffered the diarrhea so far.

I went to China Star about a week ago with a couple friends...I thought the food was good ...had one of the combo plates...enjoyed everything in it....I like the fact that they're open til 1 AM every night...we ended up going there after midnight....didn't even know there would be a Chinese restaurant open that late but then my friends reminded me that I was in Lowell after all....the only thing I would say I disliked was the customer service was poor....I understand it's past midnight and all but could everyone behind the counter put down their cell phones and get off their fb's and twitters....and actually seem like they care that they have PAYING customers....felt it was kinda rude...so overall thought the food was good but don't go there if you expect to be catered to at all by the staff

UPDATE 9/20/17 - After having crappy Chinese food from every other place I've tried the last 3 years in lowell i can say THEY ARE DEFINITELY THE BEST AROUND FOR CASUAL INEXPENSIVE CHINESE FOOD. Huge portions for price and never a bad experience. Honestly I can't remember better Chinese food overall anywhere. Original post - Like roasted ducks with heads on? If not then enter from the left. Better than average and worth the prices

HORRIBLE SERVICE! I will never be ordering from this restaurant again! After using their website to place my order online and receiving my food I realized one of our combo dinners was missing lobster sauce. When I called China Star to see if they would bring us the right one or refund they flat out refused to help us. The woman on the phone insisted we were wrong. She said they didn't have an online ordering system and that the combo we had ordered didn't exist. Even when I read off my receipt that was emailed to me she denied that the order was wrong. She confirmed that we had ordered from them (which I don't get how if they claim not to have an online ordering system) but said that if we wanted lobster sauce we needed to make another order and pay for it. I had paid 80 dollars for lunch for all my coworkers and my company orders from their regularly. I'm disgusted with the service I received from this place today and will never be ordering from them again. If customer service is something that is important to you avoid this place like the plague.

Fried rice is HORRIBLE, Not like it used to be,it was brownish color there’s is white and tasteless fishy taste to it ,with very few vegetables and meat, and if you order a large chicken fingers You only get 6 ? I’ll go to the other ones ( Chinese restaurants )from now on. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE. And they don’t have the duck sauce anymore they have a different duck sauce and of course completely different, now they have this orangey stuff that they called Duck sauce, and when I said what happened to the other duck sauce you used to have they said they never had another duck sauce , ? complete lie , i used to get it there and I always get extra, they make their Chinese food a lot different than the others I have been to, and for the worst. Positive reviews must be from the family ,cousins ,friends. You be the judge.UPDATE —- KITCHEN DRAGON JUST ORDERED AND EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT, THEY EVEN HAVE THE ORIGINAL DUCK SAUCE!!! The food here used to be very good but the consistancy has been going downhill. The flavors seem to be diminishing a little bit more and more each time i order. I order a ginger and scallion 32 dollar lobster meal atleast once a week and either they have a new cook or forgot how to make it because it is no longer my favorite. Maybe they lost their cook and they are in the process of training a new one so I am going to give it 3 stars for now but if it keeps going downhill, those stars will too. Come on china town, come back in town!

I usually order from this place every other week either for pick up or delivery without no problem. But tonight I went to pick up my food order with my daughter. The place was quiet. While we was waiting to be ring up one of their chef start to yell across the counters speaking in their language and was giving me a mean stare for no reason. The owner was there laughing along with the other chefs. My daughter and I never felt so uncomfortable. Never again Im going there. You just lost me as a customer.

I would give this place 4 or 5 stars based on the quality of their food, which is always excellent, good portion sizes but buyer beware, they are shysters. They always find a way to over charge you . Always at least $5 extra added to the bill out of nowhere and when you dispute it they pretend they don't understand. Was once charge $333 to my debit card instead of the $33.33 it should have been. The charges were reversed but always check your receipt and card statement after going here. Although the food is great I would highly suggest only using cash.

I wish I could give 0 stars. They had an issue cooking on broadway, instead of saying over the phone that there was a kitchen issue and I could pick up at the location on middlesex ave, they said "ok 25 minutes". This is 5pm now. So I arrive to join a group of customers waiting for our food to be cooked across town and driven over. An hour goes by, my food was forgotten and still not there. I'm then told they will deliver the order to my house at no charge for the inconvenience. When the food shows up at 745, almost 3 hours since I called to order it, the 'manager' who delivered it tried to charge me 70$ for the food and only offered me a bottle of soda. When I refused to pay 70 dollars for 3 hour food he called me a moron. This place is unreal.

This place has great food - I felt like I had found China town of Lowell with the Peking Ducks freshly cooked hanging with their heads on along with chickens and pork belly. I can not speak for delivery but I can speak for their food , it is just as good as the other location on Middlesex ave where they serve Dim Sum every day 9-3 . I know good food and both places are worth checking out , in many ways I think the food here is better than what you get in Boston - one exception , Dim Sum Cafe

Well this used to be one of my favorite places but in the past year I notice that it has slipped drastically. Every time we order now; the rice is dry, the chicken fingers have been way too hard, and the teriyaki has been dry. the food has just changed so much in the past year that I don't now if we will go back. Tired of ending up with diarrhea from nasty food. It's a shame because like I said it used to be our favorite.

I recently placed an order for this restaurant and they took out half of my order with no response or email back telling me they're removing it. I spoke with a lady,not speaking proper english and she hung up on me. I called again,and she gave me the biggest attitude and hung up again. I will never order from this restaurant again. The service is poor and nothing compared to Wah Sang.

This place is been there almost 10 years now. You wouldn't normally look for a restaurant in this part of town. It's worth searching out and trying. There is an excellent Bakery next door that also serves for weddings and special occasions which is very excellent.
