The pub nacho is where it’s at!! The perfection in flavor along with the sweet and salty keep you going back for more. We also enjoyed a Munk fish special that they willingly modified to be gluten free for us. It was an absolutely delicious meal. This pub is great! The staff is so friendly and hilarious. I went there for dinner with my boyfriend for my birthday weekend in VT and he mentioned it was my birthday to them. They made sure to put a candle in my dessert so I could blow it out and they didn't charge us for it. So generous! The food is delicious and the beer selection is off the charts. We've eaten at many restaurants in the Capital Region and were looking for something new. We were leaving the house around 8, so we tried calling a few times in advance to find out what time their kitchen closes. The phone rang endlessly and had no voicemail. We decided to head into Waterbury, as there were plenty of other options in case they were indeed closed. When we arrived, we found there were a couple people at the bar, and one other table of patrons. Our server told us that they were usually very busy, but had been dead all night. I was perplexed as to why our phone calls were not answered if that was the case. We were then rushed to order. We received plates from our server, the bartender, and the cook himself, but upon delivery, one would not clear from the previous course, so it all felt very clunky. Unfortunately our dessert was delivered to our table about 1 minute after our main. So it sat for roughly 15 minutes while we were working on the previous course. We ordered the Mushroom Manchego toast, the baked brie cheese board, and a New York strip to share. I can't possibly say anything positive about our meal, and this is the first time I've felt compelled to ever review a place we've dined. The toast was hugely underwhelming, some white mushrooms, sautéed, no seasoning and a very thin very small slice of cheese ( far smaller than the bread). I wish I had taken photos. One thin slice of Elmore Mountain bread, with maybe 1/4 cup of mushrooms and I'd say the cheese was smaller than a post-it. $12. Between the two halves were a small row of greens, totally undressed. The plate was scattered with tiny nibs of raw carrot. It felt very 1990's diner, like the thing place do with the parsley with the orange wedge for garnish. The cheese board was equally as underwhelming. A quite small ramekin, 4 crostini, 4 very small pita wedges, a handful of walnuts and perhaps a 1/4 of an apple. $11. The New York Strip came with zero seasoning, fat totally unrendered from the edges. Dry plate. Steamed veg. $27. We ordered a bottle of wine, as they had one berry cider on tap, and none canned (my husband enjoys just about every IPA, but I'm strictly a cider drinker). It was a decent Pinot Noir. $21. Lastly we shared a slice of peanut butter pie (my favorite), and it was decent. The total bill for dinner was $85, plus tip put us over $100. I could have easily been far more pleased at Prohibition Pig or Zen Barn. We first checked reviews here and found it rated highly, so we were looking forward to another great meal. We will not be returning.

I met a frienda here for drinks and dinner. I wanted a a regular sized burger, but they didn't have that in the menu - so I opted for the sliders. I was hoping for three sliders, but was only served with two. Bacon is a $3 up charge. The bartender was friendly, and provided great service. They have an extensive VT craft beer slection, and awesome wine list. I will be back! Thanks guys ✌️

The menu changed which I love and so many of the offerings include local ingredients. Plus they have an awesome tap list! We usually eat here twice during our two night stay in Waterbury. Fantastic pub with a great selection oh “IPAs” and “Not-IPAs” and great food. We had the crab cake which were good and Grilled Peppers which were ver tasty. But the surprise was the Nacho with a blend of Cheddar/Blue cheese, bacon and Scallions... and a bit of maple syrup!! It was delicious!! and we tried it with some of the peppers from the other appetizer and it was even better ! Great experience after a few hours of Mountain Bike around!

After being told by a more well-known pace across the st that the wait was 90mins, me and my party of 2 went to Blackback at about 930pm(kitchen closes at 10). It was packed but the gentleman who greeted us assured us that they could accommodate us and that we'd be able to have dinner. We were seated in 5mins and they were unbelievably pleasant and were n top of their game to make sure we didnt have an empty glass. Our food came out quickly despite being a full house. The steak I had was amazing and the veggies were fresh. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their meal as well.

What a beautiful little hole in the wall. Way bigger and nicer than it looks from the outside, and the food is fantastic and very fresh. I had a Montreal smoked brisket sandwich with melted swiss and Russian dressing and it was amazing. Would have loved to have tried the appetizer special which was a venison Bolognese on garlic bread crositni because it looked fantastic when the guy beside me at the bar (which is huge by the way) received his order. Can't say enough about the beer selection as they have like 30+ taps and a very good nose for amazing craft beer. If your looking for amazing beer and amazing food with a rustic pub atmosphere look no further.

No trip to the Stowe - Waterbury, VT area for the craft brew lover would be complete without stopping at the Blackback Pub. The recently expanded roster of 30 taps provides a constantly changing offering of award winning locals, undiscovered up and comers and hard to get beers from elsewhere. Match that with the eclectic menu of local beef sliders, perfectly seared ahi tuna, inspired specials and good old-fashioned hospitality and you have a formula that's hard to beat. Must try: the "pub nachos," a hearty portion of tortilla chips topped with local maple syrup, blue and cheddar cheese and bacon.

Listen , blackback pub is one of the best spots to drink & eat in VT in my opinion .Dave and his down to earth yet drive staff work hard to deliver a curated list of what you want to drink and also what is on the horizon (cough* river roost) . Blistered shishito peppers and nachos with blue cheese and maple syrup are almost a guaranteed must for appetizers. The place is cozy , and will fill up, so if you plan to go with a big crew be prepared for that on a weekend night .but an afternoon visit can yield just as rewarding a time .

This was a great stop. Good craft beer selection and a good menu. It was quite busy so it was a little noisey. Food was good and portions large enough to share. Service was fast despite being very busy. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a pub. I was on a trip by myself and what I found particularly good at this pub was the attention of the owner or manager... I don't know who he was exactly but seemed to be in charge. He talked to me a little, just normal friendly chat, which was nice since I was alone, but he didn't linger or try for a conversation or talk too much. It was a perfect amount of interaction. I was paid attention to but not bothered at all. It was perfectly friendly and perfectly timed, but never made me feel rude for not continuing with more talk, and he seemed to know just when I wanted something, and he was there. Awesome service. I will go back. Thank you!

Fantastic food and even better beer menu!!! Driving through VT and needed some lunch, found Blackback Pub on Google Maps and glad we did. Without question, the beer menu is above top notch... which alone should make you go out of your way for a visit. The bonus reward is the food!!! We got the curry butternut squash soup, the mac & cheese (with pulled pork & blue cheese), and the BBQ Pork sandwich. Everything was excellent - can't wait until I can find a reason to stop by again soon!!!
