Zest is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City, if not my ultimate favorite. They change their menu seasonally and some of my favorite dishes have been the zucchini and cheese which is healthy and deliciously creamy. All their food is gluten free and vegan. That is a hard thing to find in a restaurant while also having amazing cocktails and delicious desserts. It is right in downtown and parking is easy and available. For dessert definitely try the tiramisu if you are a tiramisu fan, it is one of the best I have tried. The carrot cake is sooo yummy but the last time I was here (last Saturday) I ordered it and it was somewhat dry. I am used to them making it with thick layers of cream cheese made from soaking cashew nuts and blending them. I had a hot coffee drink with the Alamode almond milk by Baileys, which I have at home. It was stronger than I usually make it and personally the pricing for another shot of the alcoholic vegan milk was $6. I didn’t know based on the menu because it wasn’t listed by itself unless I missed it. The Brussels sprout salad is amazing and the jackfruit sliders or whatever they were (there is only one item with jackfruit on the menu so you can’t miss it). The stuffed mushrooms are great if you like mushrooms. Jalapeño poppers are really good as well. Have also had the chips and guacamole which is always a good choice and some of the other appetizers I can’t think of the name of right now. No matter what you get you can’t go wrong here!

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City. As someone who eats a plant based GF and sugar free diet, I love that I can order anything on the menu! Friendly staff with great service. The food is amazing! Don't leave without trying their desserts.

Rick D

Very good vegan style food. The bartender was a little overwhelmed probably because it was a Saturday night. That just means there was too much time in between drinks. Good news is we were there mostly for the food.

Tristi Snyder

The food was great! Their stuffed mushrooms are fantastic. It's nice having a place that is vegan and gluten free. The parking is a huge pain, but worth the Hassel to eat here. Their Irish stew is also good and the carrot cake is to die for!

Brandon Bushman

This place is absolutely amazing! My husband and I came here before we were married and loved it so much that we decided to ask them to cater our wedding. The people are kind and the food is wonderful. I always look forward to visiting Zest!

Dana Wilson

Zest is one of our go-to restaurants in Salt Lake City for cocktails, a great atmosphere, fast and friendly service and fantastic vegan food. Dishes are always unique and fresh. Be sure to check out the specials, and don't miss their brunch! Also great for gluten-free folks. That's a glowing review, but it's well deserved.

Lills

Literally still here but HAVE To leave a review! Laurel was a sweetheart from the moment we walked in, and our server Madison was darling as well! Great atmosphere and AMAZING food. The pesto Mac and cheese was especially delicious

April Travers

Best restaurant I’ve ever been to!! Delicious food and super friendly, down to earth staff!!

Omid Aslani

You like Vegan or GF? This is your spot. We had lunch, dinner and second day lunch here. Good spot, great staff.

Becca Robison

Went here on my birthday. They have cool, amazing tasting vegan food! I had pasta carbonara and my boyfriend had the tacos. Sooo good.

Dc Wilhoit

I was only in the area for about a week and am so glad I stopped by here to eat. The teas are to die for- presentation and service was spectacular- and the creativity infused into the dishes made me smile.

Michael Maestas

Excellence in vegetarianism and beer It was quite invigorating.

Mark Witt

Loved the food, the ambiance and the service. The non-vegans in our group were happy as well with the vegan selections. Very impressed.

Lindsey Benfield

Top notch service and food. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was crazy delicious. Also, the drinks had fresh ingredients, were inventive, and amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Cary McQueen

Great food, great atmosphere.

Brenda Tally

Amazing! I am not a vegetarian, and was skeptical when our group of 18 had reservations here to celebrate our 20 year college reunion. I was pleasantly surprised. Every single bite was delicious. So much flavor. Our group had the super power salad, Irish stew, cheese plate, beet salad and brussel sprouts. I recommend it all. I am a die hard carnivore, but will be returning here for sure.

Stephen Williams

Wow, where to begin. I’ve been dairy free due to allergies my entire life, recently gone vegetarian. Being able to order anything off the menu without hesitation is a first for me. Everything is beyond delicious and so fresh. Go to favorites have been: stuffed mushrooms, pizza, and sushi. For dessert tiramisu and carrot cake have been a dream come true. Wish I could come here everyday! And low key wish every restaurant was 21+ ;)

Tami Raper

Young Living Convention is going on out here and putting an automatic 20% tip on small parties just because people are here for the convention and servers being rude and Management also is bad service. Also not doing the same for non YL convention people are wrong. YL people do tip very good so I believe this restaurant should be thankful for their business cause if not they're going to lose alot of business this week. YL is actually a Health & Wellness company that has more than just ESSENTIAL OILS. So Management I believe you need to have a talk with your employees and treat these people with more respect for them and whoever else that comes to Salt Lake City for something big.

Carter Miller

The food is amazing especially the appetizers !! Cocktail drinks excellent especially the adulting. and that Ben is a babe I ask for him every time.

Liz Kiger

Amazing miso ramen and breakfast sandwich! The carrot cake has to be the best I have ever had! Great service and food, loved it!!

Leo Kormanik II

Eat here. Gluten free and vegan for everything. Great teas. Wonderfully crafted menu.

Alisa Ellis

Stopped by Zest on our way to a family concert and did take out because they are 21+. Definitely coming back with an adult party! They did mess up my order but were very nice about it and got it quickly resolved. The pizza and jalapeno poppers were delicious. Absolutely estatic to have such clean eating dining available. Don't let the fact that they are a bar deter you. Get take out and share the health with your family!

Andromeda de Anda

The mushrooms were very good! Think and rich for sure :) the presentation of the coffee was super cute :D but the flavor was horrible

Tami Veldura

Great service and food! Very acommidating of my allergies. Great vibe and atmosphere. Their menu changes seasonally.

Kishore Chivukula

Very nice vegetarian bar. Courteous and efficient service. Good food.

Denver Sackett

Excellent Vegan Food and cocktails! What a great place!

Liliana Dillingham

Seriously some of the most amazing food and service I have ever had. Does not matter if you are vegan or not, you MUST try Zest!!

Tilly Deno

My boyfriend and I are here all the way from FL. We traveled 11 hours, got in and just wanted some nice vegan food. This place BLEW US AWAY!! Highly recommend the Irish stew, it was killer. Our server Aly was awesome, super welcoming, and made sure we loved everything that was served to us!

Dominic P

No, no, no. This place is not worth it. I understand that finding vegan options can be difficult, but I'd rather have to traverse a non-vegan restaurant's menu than go to this place. Honestly, their menu isn't overly diverse or interesting. Our server was unprofessional. He greeted us after 15+ minutes. When I inquired about mixed drinks, he proceeded to complain about the bartender walking out and said that the manager had no idea how to make drinks, so we had to order wine. I don't understand how a manager of the restaurant would not know how to make cocktails. Moving along, the food was absolutely putrid. It smelt like the guts of a pumpkin - I'm sorry but this is the best way to describe it to you. As you can imagine, it didn't taste much better. This $14 dish was simply under-cooked zucchini covered in bland, watery marinara. Nothing is good here - the service, the food, all of it falls way short. Avoid! Edit: you can see from the restaurant’s response that they are unprofessional and unapologetic. I am a patron of many other vegan/veg establishments and have never had an such issues with quality and professionalism. What a shame!

Kristy Lust

Great ambiance, although temp felt a bit cold for me. I had the baked zuc and "cheese". The waiter suggested adding the cream sauce because the zucchini releases a bit of water. It was a good suggestion, as sauce made dish nice and creamy. Very warm and filling. Lavender lemonade was interesting. I liked it, but others in my party didn't care for it. Flat bread was crispy and tasty. My favorite part of the meal was the salted caramel hazelnut tart. Yum! So awesome to have a menu full of plant-based food.

Hope O

I love eating here! The food is incredible and the service is top-notch. Our waiters and waitresses are always so kind and ready to help in any way. In my opinion, the food could use salt, but I think that has to do more with my American taste buds than with the service. They're always so kind to bring out a salt shaker for me! My favorites on the menu: - Coconut Almond Lavender tea - Stuffed avocado salad (It's pretty big in portion, too) - Carrot cake with pineapple glaze

Rich Brower

I sat myself at the bar, was informed that I should have remained standing 2ft away at the host station until someone came to set me at one of the 4/6 available seats. Not the biggest fan of the culture/environment but the salads & smoothies were great & light, like I wanted. Edit post feedback: I ate at Zest twice, similar experience each time though I learned to wait to be sat on the second time. Neither time did the the bartender I referenced in my review appear to be a female though maybe that was/is his/her identification so hate to think my review got the wrong person a talking to.

Michelle Peet

Deviled avacados are amazing!

K.S. Minnis

While the menu is a little trendy for my preference (CBD-infused pancake syrup? Lavender lemonade?), you can't argue with taste. And I loved that they were both vegan and gluten free. The hazelnut pancakes were amazing.

Kaylee Michelle

Easily my favorite Vegan restaurant in SLC. Some of the best food and cocktails in the area. A little on the pricier side, but so worth it.

Caitlin Bjork

Exquisite, as always! The food tastes amazing every time I visit, Zest doesn't seem to ever have an off day! My boyfriend and I tried the sushi tonight (runs wed-sun) and we were not let down. The one with charred mushrooms and persimmon on top was our favorite, we even ended up ordering two of them! If you're going to one restaurant while in town, let it be Zest! (Other menu favorites include the Irish stew for entrees, gary cheese plate for an appetizer, and the carrot cake for dessert! If you're there for brunch the spicy jalapeno fritter and antioxidrink are a must!) Seriously, treat yourself, you deserve to eat here!

Valerie Norman-Swarr

Owner's a real jerk, and they have a cockroach problem. Will not be returning.

Adam B.

I have been in several times and every time the food has been spectacular! Last time I visited I had the baked zucchini noodles and the raw strawberry and peach cheesecake. Both were made to perfection. The craft cocktails are worth checking out too.

Breanna Buchman

I’ve been here twice now and my last experience really made me feel like I didn’t ever want to come back. We made reservations in advance for Valentine’s Day (with our credit card info to secure the spot knowing there would be a fee if we didn’t show up) a week in advance. We got a call the day before saying our reservation would be cancelled if we didn’t call back within the hour. My boyfriend works as a sales rep and gets hundreds of calls a day so he missed it and our reservation was cancelled although they had our cc info. We finally got ahold of them on Valentine’s Day two hours before our reservation and since they hadn’t filled our spot, they put us back in and blamed that their system deleted the cc info so that’s why they cancelled our reservation. The drinks were good but I got the mac n cheese with noodles and the noodles were undercooked. They took my food back to be recooked while my boyfriend ate his dinner so it wouldn’t get cold. When it came back out, the noodles were over cooked but I had already waited awhile and ate what I could. The desserts we got were amazing. I was really disappointed when we got the check because we were still charged for this stupid under/then overcooked dish. Also it was Valentine’s Day and my boyfriend and I essentially ate alone/separately. The desserts and drinks have both been amazing both times I’ve gone but after this last experience, I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to come back.

Jessica Bryan

If you aren't eating at Zest, are you even living? I would probably be vegan if I could cook like this at home.

Chris Hymas

I love this place. I have introduced a few people to it. Every one that I've been with love it too. Decent prices for a truly extraordinary meal. Super awesome seating. Awesome staff and delicious food. I love coming here if you can't tell

Vee Volpe

Loved every single bite and sip. Cute vegan place with tasty food. Lots of reasons to love this place: 1) organic and local when possible 2) committed waste reducers (no plastic straws here lads 3) small and varied menu that fits all - they are not short on flavor that’s for sure 4) creative cocktails and beers - they work it !! Had the pitaya smoothie and super foods salad. Hubby had same smoothie plus zesty toast. We both left super happy.

Giordano Ashwell

The ambience was nice but we were looking forward in tasting some good vegan food! When our female server came by she seem uninterested for us being there. Maybe a bad day? We were our cheery selves but she just wanted us to place our drink and main order, no chit chat like was this our first time here or not. Share any recommendations if popular dishes, etc.

Hillary

Great space for SLC vegan with knowledgeable staff in a great location in town.

Ida Smith

I came in today not knowing there was a convention going on and our server Lex accommodated to all our needs, despite all of the chaos. Everything we ordered tasted amazing and the carrot cake was to die for! Quality food and quality service! Will be returning.

Corie Darrington

Good food- vegan and gluten free and delicious!

Mike Z

Amazing food, and a great place to take people who might be new to vegetarian or vegan dishes

Jamie Bedford

Great food and drinks, and great service! It's always nice to find vegan and gluten free options when traveling, especially when they are as tasty as this spot.

Lucy Adelson

The food was really good. They have a good selection of creative vegan foods and cocktails.

Kimberly Brandt

Great food and great atmosphere. Gluten free!

morgan milner

My friend with Celiac's disease is gluten intolerant, and this is the ONLY restaurant in town she won't even get a little bit sick from. I love the vegetarian and vegan options. Everything is tasty and wholesome.

Rebecca Rodriguez

I'm not vegan, but holy sh*t the food here is amazing! It's so fresh and the flavors are on point! The pancakes and hash stack are my fave brunch items, and if you go for lunch or dinner, skip the main courses and just try ALL of the appetizers. They're so good!

Erik Jensen

I’ve been to Zest a handful of times prior to today. It was always pretty good food but I never loved it either. While I was there today I thought that the server did a decent but not great job. He wasn’t super attentive and seemed just friendly enough to be professional but not too into it at the same time. The food was quite bland and it blew me away as I spent nearly $50 (for lunch!) for a sub par experience. I would have been much more satisfied at another place that doesn’t charge as high of prices and the food is better. Unfortunately I probably won’t go back as I don’t see the value of doing so. If the food were exceptional I’d have a different opinion.

Arn Heggers

The service was good and the food arrived quickly, but it was all very lacking in flavor. I had the nachos which were both dry and uninspired. My wife had the vegetable hash, which had an overbearing coconut flavor throughout the entire dish. Unfortunately, this will not be a place we visit again.

Shelly Brimhall

The yellow Thai curry was amazingly delicious! I have been to many Thai food places, this curry can definitely compete. It's on the spicy side and not too sweet, which I absolutely love. Highly recommend this place, it's a great vegan restaurant. Service was quick and the waiters were very attentive and had great attitudes.

Rebecca G

ZEST is the BEST! I am vegan and allergic to oil. They continue to be the one fine dining establishment in the valley I can go back to. The owner is amazing and has worked hard to design his menu to accommodate those of us who don't eat oil for various reasons. I also don't eat processed sugar and whenever I go downtown I always stop to get one of their delicious seasonal mousse desserts. It's truly amazing what they can do with clean ingredients. If you want a fantastic meal that you can feel great about eating, you must try ZEST!

Gina Nicholos

Great vibe and service but only went to this place because the 3 out of 6 of us were vegetarian and we were visiting SLC. As a non-vegetarian, I would never go back to this place. Food is bland yet has too many seasoning combinations which makes the flavors hard to eat. Just not my thing.

Niklas Eisath

Delicious food and great staff

Brett Jensen

Very nice, eclectic and open atmosphere. The food was superb!

Isabela Georgetti

I hate to not give 5 stars to vegan restaurants but the service was so bad. The blond older lady who got us a seat was pretty rude

Mirande Jani

Fully plant based menu!! Don't let the word vegan and bar let you not go there. They have amazing food!! Great variety. And I am definitely going back. I do not drink so I am not sure about their drinks.

susan pollock

There are no food choices for someone who is coming with a friend who is a vegan.

Sujata Sathe

We read the reviews and decided to go to this restaurant. We went for lunch and the food was great. The mac and cheese ,mushroom dish, and the French toast with blueberry topping were yummy.I would surely want to try their dinner menu sometime as they have more options for dinner..Would highly recommend this restaurant for vegetarian food.

James Poulos

Wonderful and delicious vegan food and a great vibe. Feed your “soul” at zest kitchen and bar.

Jolene Clark (Redhead Momentum, LLC)

A must-eat for anyone looking for fresh food! I was in SLC for a three day business trip after being on vacation for 10 days so I was a little tired of eating out. I wanted something fresh and flavorful. Knowing that, this place was the perfect stop for dinner! I was too tired for eating in but they were friendly and fast when it came to my takeout order: super foods protein salad with the mushroom lentil patty and the low sugar mousse. A perfect pair! The dressing on the salad was to die for, I'd eat it all just on it's own. And the mousse was an avocado cacao banana with coconut. So yummy! They were hearty enough portions that I had half of each and still have enough for lunch tomorrow. Can't wait to go back!

tristan manning

Worst dining experience possibly ever. I’m not vegan but my fiancé and I wanted to try something new so we went to Zest hoping to find friendly people and good food. We did find friendly people... in the customers eating there, however management and our waitress were not very pleasant. The waitress advised me that the spicy dishes vary in spice depending on the day??? Guess there isn’t a real recipe that they follow...? What I got was WAY to spicy for my taste, and actually other than super spice the flavor was very bland. However I did eat the side salad which was tasty. When I asked if I could swap the main entree out for something less spicy they denied me because I ate the side salad and said I had eaten too much of the meal.... but I had only had two bites of the main entree. After asking to speak to the manager the guy just mumbled and stared at the ground very unprofessionally but basically said they couldn’t accommodate me with a new entree because I had eaten too much of my meal. I was very displeased with the customer service, the food, and the manager Ben.

Jeremy Mihaylo

Amazing!!! Food and drink options were fantastic. Zest is my go to restaurant everytime I visit SLC. Super satisfied! To make it even better they are GF+V and organic/local when possible. Love Zest!!!

Justin Haaga

Full flavor food. Nachos have a excellent chip and texture.

Mindy Timothy

Had the deviled avocado and the tacos. So yummy!!!

Taylor Dunn

As a "transitioning" vegetarian, Zest was an incredible experience. I got the Thai Sunrise Curry and a Shades IPA to wash it down. The coconut curry had amazing flavor, the perfect amount of kick, and I didn't miss the meat at all. Wonderful service and a cool atmosphere as well.

Brad Mcinnis

Great atmosphere, great menu, great desserts, and best of all great people. Very enjoyable experience and I will be coming back and would recommend Zest for anyone. Casey the owner was a pleasure to talk with, Justine was a great server and a pleasure and Ben the hostess was friendly and welcoming.

Sana

Loved this restaurant! Very friendly service and food was delicious.

Lydia Kluge

Vegan Restaurant - worth a visit! :) I came here with some friends for one of their birthdays. One in our party is vegan, one is moving towards plant-based, and the other is an omnivore and eats both plants and meat. I feel there are things that would satisfy all eaters on the menu. I had the tacos and my friend had a curry dish, which were both yummy. We enjoyed the kombuchas and green juice too. Our omnivore friend was having a hard time choosing she was considering the mac and cheese and I encouraged considering pizza, as these seemed potentially good choices for a non-vegan. She asked the waitress for advice and ended up deciding on the Irish Stew which had beets, potato etc. While the other two of us loved our food, she didn't eat much of hers. Overall a great time and we would go back, but if you have a non-vegan friend I'd recommend them trying something they might feel most comfortable with like the mac & cheese or pizza!

Darren Abbott

Great food at a good price. Caters to vegetarians and vegans. Will definitely visit again when I make it back to SLC.

Nigel Lawrence

The ambiance of this place is great. The food is exceptional and affordable. It is in close proximity to the convention centre and offers a vegan and vegetarian alternative for those who believe in eating healthy. I have been here a few times and honestly it is one of my personal favorites.

Jamie Severson

Healthy, delicious, and affordable food! The Adulting drink with pineapple, guava, lime, and coconut milk is do die for! Highly recommend.

Dr Mary Kay Keller

The food is amazing, the service was delightful and the menu is varied. Loved it.

Jason Hobbs

Loved this place. Best vegan I've had on our trip from IL. Our server was MJ and she was great. The carrot cake frosting was AWESOME!

Sarah Noot

I love that everything here is vegan and you don’t have to worry about what you can’t order. The drinks are super good too! They are almost 5 stars for me but could improve. Some of their dishes are gross because they need to work on their recipe. We got curry and jalapeño poppers last time and it was gross to be honest. The curry spice wasn’t good and I don’t know how you can mess up vegan curry. The jalapeño poppers I thought would be breaded at least or fried but they were baked and cut in half and stuffed with wheat rice stuff which was very bland. We know the pizza is good so that’s the only meal we will get because we’re scared of paying for another bad one because of their prices. It is pretty pricey. For the pizza they do add a lot of the baby spinach or whatever so if you don’t like that ask for none because they make it into a salad and don’t bake it on there they add it fresh on top. The artichoke dip is also super good!

Kyra Hermann

I was rather displeased with the food here and didn’t care for the ambiance. We spent about $80 for an appetizer, 2 entrees and a drink. The food was lacking flavor, the Irish stew in particular was so bad my husband had to return it to the chef. We are plant based and I cook vegan in our home every day and I felt disappointed that we spent so much money for food that I could have easily made better myself. It was super dark in there I couldn’t even see my husbands face. If you are a good vegan cook you won’t find this food anything special unless maybe you’re buzzed from the bar.

Mike James

Love this place. Great food, great selection. They know my wife by name even!

Edward Pelland

Oh man. These chefs are the best. Theres like 30 ingredients in these dishes, all fresh and in house, all blending together to form a symphony of taste with every bite. Andante salad followed by an aria plate from the diva of your dreams. Wash it down with an allegro of spicy ginger beer and finish it off with a canon of cake. Opus magnus vegan fare.

Zach Novak

Love Zest. I usually get the Thai sunrise and am quite satisfied. Their local music nights are nice.

D. Slytherberry

Haven't had a bad experience here yet. Food is really trendy, with good vegetarian options. But be warned they are expensive. Anytime me and my girlfriend eat here we spend at least $25 on two meals that hardly fill either of us up. But, that being said, the food does taste really good!

Douglas Romero

Was in Salt Lake City for my work convention and we didn't get a break until really late. Thank goodness this little gem was right around the corner of the hotel and open. The food was great. The service was outstanding. The waiter made great suggestions on beers and local faves. I admire that. The bar was really packed because there was a game of some sort on. I didn't pay any mind to the game. The atmosphere was just what the doctor ordered after a long day of stress and work. If you are in the area, I suggest to give them a try.

Jessica Goodliffe

Pretty fun place to eat. Very Lively in the heart of salt lake. This is a vegan restaurant, so don't expect anything else on the menu. I had their salad which was satisfying and stuffed mushrooms.

Velda Christensen

Awesome options for vegans and people with food allergies... I could eat anything on the menu! We especially loved the sushi. My only complaint is that I personally prefer simple comfort food over reimagined, deconstructed dishes. I felt a bit lowbrow when I asked if their pepper poppers were battered and fried

Michael Hermann

Honestly our full experience at Zest wasn’t a terrible one. The best part of our service was our waiter hands down. Very respectful and was accommodating to any needs we had. However the quality of food wasn’t to our liking for what we paid, and I was willing to move on from that and accept making the decision to try a new vegan place to eat (without leaving a bad review). What I’m NOT willing to accept is the lack of respect and professionality expressed by an “owner” about an honest review left by my wife. After she respectfully shared our experience, the “owner” aggressively responded. I found this to be unprofessional, condescending and a rather blunt response for a ‘customer service’ oriented business. I get the concept of trying to maintain a good reputation and to keep your Google listings high, but not at the expense of insulting customers who PAID you (and DID leave a generous tip) as you most certainly doubted in your response to my wife’s post “projecting her math was wrong”. I’d recommend putting some Much Needed consideration into who is responding to your reviews and to not take these as a PERSONAL offense. This is a business (I assume) don’t take it to heart. Constructive criticism is a benefit to your establishment and can be used as a learning experience, hence the ENTIRE point of having a review system. Instead of placing the blame on the consumer (as I have also seen in other lower reviews you’ve responded to) try some self analysis and start asking question like •How could we better this negative experience? or Simply just express your concern in your response and leave it at that. Running a business is hard I get it, I run two of them, but don’t get hung up on the details. Strive to be better and don’t stoop to levels you shouldn’t EVER go to, and be the “considerate vegans” we all know you are. Due to this overall experience that I’m surprised reached this level, We will most definitely not be returning and will consider the other 8 of the 9 all vegan restaurants you mentioned. I hope you can continue to thrive as a business and hopefully take some of these points into consideration for your own benefit.

Stacy Jo Conner

I would go broke if this little gem were close to my home in FL. Every option is clean and includes thoughtfully balanced flavors!

Matthew Mirarchi

Zest redeemed my trip to SLC—definitely the culinary highlight. The staffers were kind, accessible, and very diligent about circling back/checking in. Everything from sip to “so long” was delightful—the divinely warm rum cider, the cheese-topped zucchini-and-cheese, and the chocolate beet torte (omfg). I’d definitely recommend to anyone planning to swing through the city to try’em out.

Franci Bolen

Super yummy. Great environment.

Brian Stormo

I'm not super big on vegan food, but I'll admit the zucchini Mac and cheese was pretty good. We had a reservation, which was definitely a solid idea. Just before our food arrived the owner asked if we could change tables, to accommodate a larger group next to us. Hardly a big deal, so of course we started moving. They gave us a free dessert for the "inconvenience". That's pretty strong customer service and definitely a sign they care about their guests experience. I originally gave a 4/5 but that was mostly based on my palate. If I wanted vegan food, I would definitely recommend this place to others. The rest of my group was very pleased with their food as well. Definitely worth checking out!

ohmyheck31

Not a lot of flavor to the dishes I ordered. I had Cream of Greens soup, which was interesting but not great. And the macaroni and cheese skillet was just okay. The dessert of a blueberry lemon bar was good. But tgen I waited 15 minutes for my bill. I ended up having to ask another server to get it for me, as my server seemed to have become overwhelmed by other customers. It's wonderful that we have a couple of vegan restaurants in the city, I wish they tasted better.

Ronald Terrell

Great Vegan food, great presentation, and great service. Take the time and enjoy.

Devender

Whole vegan menu! We had pizza and sprouts, both were amazing.

Jem Ashton

Compared to their brunch, most of the dinner options are underwhelming. With that, their brunch is great! Plus, it's always fun to have some more experimental drink options.

Kali Remington

We loved it ! 15+ stars for the cashew cheese sauce . Our awesome waitress recommend the pink cocktail- fantastic (on the sweet side) ! It was presented so beautifully ! Cool atmosphere for a romantic or fun group outing

Angela Cabal

Wonderful food with a side of pretention and snobery.

Deaf Emily

This place is a sensible eatery for vegans and it’s a hot spot to dine there. It has a BAC device if you imbibed too much. The ambiance presents to have an industrial feel with a touch of Steelworks decor. The line is long and it shows that this is the place to hit the spot

Sabrina Baksh-Riches

Great dishes served at this place. If you aren't vegan, it doesn't matter because you won't miss the meat. They have very innovative, flavorful food and yummy desserts too. Give it a try!

Adriana Rogers

Everything was delicious and service was excellent

Nick Jones

My family was very disappointed after driving over and paying for parking to find that it's a 21 and over establishment that doesn't allow you to even eat outside (which would have been hard in the 100 degree weather anyway). So, we'll never know if their vegan, gluten free, soy free food is any good (which is necessary for me and my daughter's allergies). Definitely not a very compassionate or cruelty-free venue as they couldn't get over their ageism and accommodate the rising generation of vegans✌

Justine Connell

I have never had a meal here that did not wow me with flavor and delight my first time guests. The atmosphere is fantastic, the people are caring and helpful and the food is always spectacular! Thank you zest for being the most reliable spot to bring people to when they visit!!

Barb Shelley

Zest Kitchen & Bar serves an array of healthy, beautifully presented and delicious plant-based food. The atmosphere is hip and friendly. Zest has proven itself to be a pacesetter restaurant for the plant-based lifestyle!

Ron Ronald

Great Gluten Free food! Healthy options and cool vibe.

Christina

Absolutely delicious! I wouldn't have guessed it was all vegan and gluten free! So tasty! Definitely recommend even though it's a little on the pricier side. The desserts weren't my favorite though. I felt like the Tiramisu should have tasted at least something like coffee and it was really nutty instead of being smooth. Even the cashew cream was chunky.

Steve A

The Irish stew was bland and uninteresting, but the sushi was really good. I would pay $12 again for the sushi, but definitely not $15 for the Irish stew.

This is easily the most over priced restaurant I have ever eaten at. We thought the food would be in normal sized portions, but ended up paying over $50 for two tacos, a small soup, and a handful of stuffed mushrooms. Food wasn't even that great. Less than average at best. I will never eat here again.

Tom Torode

Zest has always been delicious. We love the variety and quality of the food. The service is great and atmosphere is friendly.

Jed Layton

Some of the best food I have had in SLC, not just vegan food, but food overall. Had the Irish stew (I love making Irish stew with meat, so wanted to see what a good vegan option is) and it was the best stew I have ever had. Amazing. Also had the hat rum/cider mixer. It was perfect with the stew for a cold night. Will certainly be going back.

Truly a great find in this city of beer and meat (lol). Amazing fresh cocktails with house made syrups, wonderful vegan offerings from appetizers to full dinners. Wednesday nights they offer 2 different "vegan sushi rolls" which we found quite delicious. I opted for a more traditional zucchini pasta with a cheesy marinara and broccoli (sans mushroom) which was hearty, filling and nicely spiced with mild herbs. Easy location near all the hotels and across from the beer halls - quaint atmosphere and excellent and attention service. We had Adrienne who was helpful, suggestive, accommodating and the right amount of checking in on us

Very nice staff. Love the atmosphere and the aesthetics. I ordered the stuffed avocado salad and it was absolutely divine. (And usually I don't like walnuts or vinaigrettes.) It was entirely filling. I hope to come back again and try some desserts and cocktails!

By far my new favorite hip place to get vegan food and some quality adult beverages. The staff is equally cool and inviting. The ambience is clean, energetic, and vibrant. Plenty of parking nearby, but most of it is paid parking before 8pm. There’s a few patio seats outside if you have a pup. Ordering to go is super easy. A great option if you’re going to Abravanel Hall or the Salt Palace.

Dominik Sacher

Loved it. Hip restaurant and bar. Food was good. All food is gluten and soy free. I don't need this, but important it's all vegan and reasonable prices. Loved the spinach cheese dip and the super food salad.

Mike Courouleau

Service and food was great along with juices and teas

Mccall Monson

Good gf food

Randy Karpinen

The stuffed poblano was mushy and I was rushed out by the waiter without any dessert at 10:20 pm. Oh well.

Chaz

I really enjoyed the food at Zest. Presentation was on par, our waitress was very attentive and the food tasted great! The only problem I have is that the only good close parking is a paid lot next door and validation didn't seem to be an option.

Helen McCullagh NY

Lovely restaurant with delicious vegan fare and bar too. A winner all around!

GeneAnn Walkling

Awesome place to eat Vegan food. This is the place to eat when you visit SLC! The service was great! We will be back when we come into town the next time!

Fernando Cordova

I travel twice a month thru SLC and Zest is my easy go to healthy spot, which is important for me when traveling. Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean it has to taste bad, and Zest gets that. The salad was awesome this time. Last time I brought colleagues and had the ramen, curry, and veggie sushi. Didn’t disappoint. And the DRINKS! Have a cocktail while you are there.

Blake Harris

Great vegetarian restaurant. Large selection of different vegetarian dishes. The cocktail menu is also great. I tried the chocolate beet cake and was actually really impressed. If you ever feel like eating healthier than you do anywhere else and having it taste good, come to Zest.

Sathya Ram

A truly excellent vegan brunch spot. All the food is trendy and actually incredibly delicious. You can't go wrong ordering basically anything. The Deviled Avacado was sublime!

Nicholas Yaworsky

Zest is hands down one of my favorite places to eat when I’m downtown. Drinks, food and atmosphere are top notch. Our server told us he was the “Head Boy” which was a little confusing but I think he was European and that’s just what they call lead severs. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed!

Brittanni Jackson

I was going through the list of places I’ve been and reviewing quickly. I accidentally marked this place a one star! I didn’t mean to. I love this place! Their food is a delicious and it’s a cool environment. The only complaint I have is sometimes the employees are less than pleasant. Other than that, I like it!

Amit Sathe

I am always a bit skeptical about vegetarian restaurants because they usually do not keep up with the spices I am used to as an Indian. But this one was a pleasant surprise. Theie dishes score in all departments - conceptualization, taste and presentation. we had the tomato vegetable soup to start with which was awesome, and much different from the standard tomato soups. then we had mac and cheese and french toast and a mushrooms dish. Enjoyed them all. They were light on cheese and butter but still very tasty and wholesome. Look forward to tasting their dinner menu

Deborah Fagan

Friendly, wonderful service. Great food!

Phillip Dirks

This restaurant was just what I needed after returning from Peru where I ate zero greens due to wash water and possible bacteria. I visited twice. You can't go wrong here. The drink with the CBD oil was fantastic, as was the Thai curry with black rice. I would rate this 6 if I could.

Mila Santana

Most delicious vegan meal I've had in a long time. A bit pricey but well worth it. Adrienne offered great service, the place has good ambiance, and did I say the food was delicious? Highly recommend. I got the pizza and the tiramisu.

Stephanie Potter

I was thoroughly impressed by Zest. The food was delicious and cocktails yummy and original. The only bad thing was that they were out of quite a few items. While this speaks to the popularity of the items, it was a touch disappointing. Everything else we selected was delightful, and my friend with very restrictive allergies was able to order a menu item with no adjustments which was a refreshing experience for her.

Monte Riding

I so wanted to love the food here, as I’m celiac and my girlfriend is vegetarian. Unfortunately *everything* we tried was just ‘ok’ - especially for the price. The quality of the food is great, the kitchen just needs to get more creative and innovative with spices. We both really like Rawtopia much better.

Frank M

You have to be 21+ to enter. Food was very tasty and bartender was nice. Would like to see a few more options.

Jim Forbes

The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. I would absolutely recommend this place any day. Did not have to wait for a seat even though it seamed crowded. I would highly recommend the Brussels sprouts appetizer, they were outstanding..

Bridget Olsen

Words cannot describe how it felt to finally visit this place. The mixed drinks are unique and tasty. This establishment is completely gluten and dairy free, which is a relief for me because I don't have to triple check ingredients here. The carrot cake is the best I have ever eaten, even compared to real carrot cake. You have to try it to believe it!

Jeff Maynes

Excellent service and menu. Entire menu gluten free so nothing to worry about there. Worth stopping in. Lots of unique flavors. We had a smoothie, chips and salsa was delicious also ginger beer. Very good.

Laura Rooklin

Tasty flavorful vegan food. Large portions & I especially liked the deviled avocados & salad!

Josh Reimann

Zest continues to surprise us with their delicious food! The new menu for summer had a lot of great options for Brunch/Lunch! Great atmosphere and the servers know every item on the menu and have an opinion about it. Always so helpful!

Crinn Fairbanks

Paired the Tai sunrise with the bubbly float #delicious perfectly cooked dish great service and a balanced cocktail. Thank you for a wonderful experience

Stacey Clayton

Ask for Casey and Nic! Casey is the perfect host! He treats his customers they way all restaurants should! Nic is an amazing server, so kind, friendly and attentive. The menu was outstanding! You don't need to be vegan to love every bit of their flavorful dinners. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Suzette Aposhian

I have been missing good bread and today I had a mushroom sandwich on the most divine gluten free bread. And it was accomplices by a cup of soup. Loved every bit it was delicious. Service was very friendly and timely. I will be back.

Dr Matthew Roller D.C.

I don’t come downtown that often but I was down here and excited to eat some good vegan food, I was disappointed though, the stuffed avacado salad seemed to be just standard Sysco sourced fair, it wasn’t that good and had a lot of standard run of the mill ingredients. The kambucha was lackluster compared to Mamachari that I love from Harmon’s and they are right down the street they should switch. The cost on one glass? $6. I was harassed by flies that kept landing on me the whole time. The assortment of menu food was limited, the alcohol menu had far more options. This is a bar with a little bit of vegan food.

Samantha Wright

I COULD CRY I LOVE ZEST SO MUCH. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in Salt Lake! After my third time in and trying multiple new menu items each time, I can 100% tell you this is not only my favorite vegan restaurant, but also my favorite restaurant of all time. The menu is so diverse and so delicious. Every item is so meticulously thought out and yummy. I’ve had the different sushi rolls each time I’ve been, and those alone should be enough to get you in! The mushroom app is also amazing. I’ve had 3 different entrees and have loved them all. The staff is so friendly, and there are such amazing vibes. Very down with the 21+ age policy, because it just makes it so much more chill. Never been so passionate about a restaurant! 110% recommend.

Patryk Glosowitz

Walking into Zest, you're greeted by several signs that note it's 21+ no matter what. A wonderful, kid free environment where you can drink as early as 10am! Tons of great summer specials and so many interesting drinks! This place has it all. The food we'd ordered came out incredibly quick, and everything tasted fresh and hot. We even had to pack some up to go because we ordered more than we could eat!

Abril Castro

I love Zest! They have a wide variety of Vegan and Vegetarian dinner options, from Zucchini Mac n Cheese to Vegan Sushi. No matter what kind of flavor you are looking for, Zest can deliver. I will be back soon!

John Preston

This place has really delicious food, a cool vibe, and generally quite friendly staff, but the service is pretty slow - particularly with regard to getting seated. We had to wait for a few minutes when we had a reservation the first time, and the second time, we (a party of two) walked in without a reservation when it wasn't very busy. Half the restaurant was empty, as it wasn't really rush time. I'm sure they weren't fully staffed, so that part makes sense, but they said they just needed to clear off a table that had just walked out. Fifteen minutes later, we were still waiting, so we let them know we had decided to leave, to which the host responded simply: "Oh. Sorry."

Ian Dixon

Like a Dave Chappelle show, don't bring your kids! Amazing food and full bar. Loved it.

Brenda Garcia De Galvan

Our drinks were very tasty. We ordered the barbacoa tacos. Wasn't bad they just didn't taste anything like barbacoa. We also had the zucchini noodles that was creamy the portion was satisfying. Did not enjoy the dinning area. Too crammed. Over all not worth a second trip.

Matt Mulligan

Great food selection for all tastes. Good drink menu as well. Service was great as well.

Jorge Adrian Gonzalez Aguirre

100% Gluten Free and Vegan with amazing flavor

Kara Eike

Love this place!! Food is creative and amazing. Service was wonderful. Will be back!

Madhu

Good place for vegetarians and vegans. The available choices are from cuisines the world over and one can taste wholesome Thai food or Peruvian good and a lot in between. This place has a slot machines and personally that reduces the ambience.

Shatoya Dixon

I really enjoyed the Carrot cake after The stuffed avocado Salad and Berry Smoothie.

Shao-Chieh Liu

Cuban breakfast was amazing... I cannot find anything better than it. Please try it. I’ll probably eat my second meal here tonight.

Tom Daniels

Great restaurant and bar. Nice place to take my clients to dinner. They have a great drink menu.

Lizzie Kumar

Not great food... and I generally like vegan stuff

Nick Welland

Absolutely amazing Vegan food. Carrot cake to die for. Not overloaded with options.

Burton Hohman

My wife isn't able to have gluten so we were so happy when we came across this place. The food and drinks here are terrific. This is now our regular spot whenever we come into the city

Mike Zielinskie

Hazelnut pancakes with basil cbd syrup. Nuff said.
