As told by a 2nd grader! "Porcupine is the best place ever! (5 stars) The best place in my opinion is Porcupine Grill. You can get yummy food here. Every time I go there it tastes good, but it ends up tasting a little bitter. It is almost done when that happens. One reason you should go there is there is nice salad. You should also go because you could get things like steak and shrimp and burgers and even stuff from the kids menu. I usually get the alfredo pasta. It tastes really good. They have a TV on the wall you can watch the news or sports games. There is amazing pictures your kids can draw. There is upstairs seating and downstairs seating. They even have hot sauce. Everything is good. There are yummy smells and you can get sides. You should really go there!"
First time fantastic! Food was spot-on, the nachos with chicken and black beans were out amazing! The Philly cheese steak sandwich was unbelievable and the fries were great. And the onion rings were outstanding as well, portions were big sole three of us only had a meal and a half and still had plenty of to take home. Our server Nico was outstanding!!! He was gold, he took care of everything he was ahead of the process did not wait for us to ask for stuff was always there with things before we even asked. He's a valuable asset to the company I hope they treat him as such. And no we're not related.
Yummy!!! The portions were generous and the service was awesome. Steve is the best server! Tequila Lime pasta was delicious. We ordered the dinner special which was blackened steelhead and wowza, such great flavors. Cream of mushroom soup was also very tasty. The pizza there is great as well. Thin crust and good flavor.
Pretty dang good. I think they need to revamp their mole sauce recipe on the enchiladas... That was not mole.
Great place to have lunch! Tables on the balcony allows views across the Salt Lake City Valley and the entrance to Big Cottonwood Canyon. Varied menu with flavorful food. Great friendly service. Look forward to coming back again soon!
Great restaurant and love they have vegan options! We go here every year while on vacation and will definitely keep going back. Great food and atmosphere.
This restaurant maybe a little bit out of the way but it's well worth it. The food selection is not the norm but that makes the attraction to this restaurant. The food is always prepared very well hey it's extremely good. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is very clean. And you'll find you'll make excuses to drive the extra distance to grab a bite. Don't forget to take home a quart of chicken noodle soup with a half dozen rolls and butter. It's great for a meal the next day.
I am a foodie who loves new flavor combinations that inspire and delight me. This place delivered! They were creative with their food, yet created flavors that made me want to bow down and thank them. We had the fish tacos and they not only had more than just fish in the Shell but there was both a crisp and soft shell and lots of delicious ingredients inside. We also had a spinach ravioli. I heard it was good, but there were flavors here that were really unique an lovely. I think part of it was the truffles. If you get the cheese artichoke dip, make sure you ask for some of their amazing reduced balsamic to go with it. Pour the balsamic on the bread before dipping. Quite tasty.
Great food and great service. Very friendly staff. Would definitely eat there again. Steak cooked perfectly.
Not cheap but the service is always amazing and the food matches up. Just make sure you have some time if you go around dinner! Place gets packed so wait gets to be a bit. It’s always a good sign tho !
Everything was delicious, atmosphere is fun, the upstairs area is really nice. We'll definitely be back!
Just loved it. The curry soup was great, and the bartender, Redd outdid herself.
So good! Nice variety of draft beers and the food is always so delicious! Wait staff are top notch as well.
If the chicken noodle soup in on the menu be sure to try it! Always enjoy the atmosphere and food. Plenty of beers on tap, and a great variety of food. A couple other favorites: The Ahi tuna salad & the Chili verde burrito!
It's really a solid place. Good beer selection, quality food! Staff is great.
Great spot at the mouth of the canyon. Staff is always quick and attentive. It's hard to explain, but there is a special warmth to this lodge-styled restaurant. Food is a bit more expensive, but this is expected with the location. Lastly, I expected bottled beer here as after snowboarding I'd like something a little more hefty. Overall, always a good experience.
Great service and they have a diverse menu. I ordered the enchilada combo and it was perfect! I don't like spicy, and the flavors were good without much heat.
Delicious chicken noodle soup! Great venue! Right before the mountain and would get a five star rating if they weren't so damn expensive. Everything cost like 14 bucks or more!
When I am at my brother's in big cotton wood canyon, we always go to the porcupine grill. Good food at a reasonable price
Good food. Prices are a little too trendy for me.
Best nachos in Salt Lake City, hands down. It can get crowded and perhaps a little spendy... But the quality of their food is apparent so you get what you pay for. Service has always been good and it's a pretty convenient location.
Popular restaurant, especially in the evenings. There's some history here, which is cool. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff.
This is such a great place to stop after a day of skiing with friends. The service is great and the location at the bottom of Big Cottonwood Canyon is excellent. The nachos to share with two people will put you over the edge but it is so worth it! :) Enjoy!
We went on a Friday night so the lines were very long. They turned the tables over quickly. I ordered one of my favorite sandwiches, the Reuben. It was well worth the wait. However the staff are thinly stretched and our server only came to the table to take our order, then to come back and request us to order a dessert, and then brought us our check. My several requests to other servers quickly passing my table for extra side of dressing were ignored. Otherwise, I would have given a five.
The drinks were ok, but my God the food is amazing! If I lived here I would probably visit once a week. Good atmosphere with the service to match. We were seated right away and the food did not take long. 10/10 would recommend
There was a bit of a wait time when we got in, but it was almost 8 pm on a Thursday and that's absolutely to be expected. The staff was all very friendly, and I frequently found myself jammin' to the German and Swedish techno music. The food was exquisite and that's considering I can't quite order beer to go with it yet! Zelda was an awesome server during a busy night and I was very happy with the overall experience! Will return in a few months when I'm 21!!!
Really good food. I have never had bad service here. The chicken noodle soup is the way to go.
Oktoberfest is my favorite time of year here. The very best German cuisine in the city. Friendly staff and exceptional atmosphere
Recently went on a Friday evening. Not too bad of a wait. INCREDIBLE food! I had the Wahoo Fish Tacos and they were the best I've ever had! My mouth is salivating thinking about them. Service was great and they were very attentive. If you've never been here then you are missing out!!
Average, decent food but seriously over-priced. $23 for fish and chips. $14 for a burger and fries.
The service wasn't great, though I'm pretty sure they pawned our table off on the poor girl that had us. She didn't know the menu and kept forgetting things or getting things wrong. She handles the stress though and that's why there are at least 3 stars. The food really wasn't great. The supposed garlic mashed potatoes were hard, dry and flavorless. The salmon was overcooked. Our friend got the ribeye special which was over cooked and had no seasoning. The side salad was okay and the veggies came out cold. We ended up leaving and our friend went elsewhere for dinner since by the time they came to check on us and ask about our food, we we're ready to go.
The food is extraordinarily good and the employees are nice and fast.
The highlight was the nachos, which were amazing. The service sadly was bad (waited a long time, approx 10-15 min for the first table touch and drinks), and the remainder of the food was okay but not commendable.
This place is a classic. I ordered the burger and a beer and everything was on point. The servers are nice and the atmosphere is welcoming. This is an especially favorable place to go after a day of skiing/snowboarding/hiking. The prices are a little on the high end but definitely worth the quality of food.
Good food, and could accommodate my friend with Celiac disease.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We mentioned a food allergy at our table and the manager came by to let us know that they take it seriously. Delicious foods and cheesecake and an incredible view at the mouth of the canyon. We'll be going back again
Great choice in food, great service, reasonably priced, new decorations on the walls each week or so. Easy to get to, pleasant waitresses/waiters,my weekly choice for lunch.
Great food. Great environment. Server was attentive without being overbearing. And the ambiance is classic cozy. Stylish and welcoming at the same time
This place is amazing! Their dinner is fantastic, appetizers are big enough to share with a medium size group (4-6 people typically) or great as an entree, sandwiches are fantastic, and so are the pasta dishes. Also, worth trying is their brunch! Service here is always good. One time we were sitting a bit longer than usual before a server came over. He informed us that the server assigned to our area was swamped with a large group, so he quickly started to take our orders and made sure we were taken care of.
My husband and I came here after a day of skiing and shared the nachos (with chicken) and a piece of pecan carrot cake for dessert. I can say with certainty that the nachos are the best you’ll ever have. It is a massive portion. As an appetizer it could feed 4-6 adults and easily a meal for 2. The pecan carrot cake was wonderful! It was a pretty large piece so it was perfect to share. No raisins in it, either. A win! In the past, I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed the turkey sandwich on sourdough.
Sammy deserves to be recognized for her service and professionalism. Example: At one of her tables, she always showed her positive attitude, checked in frequently, and knew the menu like the back of her hand. After the meal, the mother decided to walk up to Sammy and see if she was single for her son. Well, this was my table, I am that son, and yes, that was my mother embarrassing me. So, thank you Sammy for your amazing customer service and for dealing with interesting customers and the situations that come with them. Super sorry!
I eat here regularly and it's always excellent. From appetizers to dessert the menu is delicious, and they have a steady mix of specials to go with the standard stuff. It's worth noting separately how good the deserts are. The service is great, and on a nice day the patio is a wonderful place to kill a couple hours.
I had the Greek wrap so very delicious especially when our server suggested having a balsamic sauce on the side. My husband had the Lemon Pepper Salmon sandwich. It tasted so fresh with a slight kick.
Could tell by the parking lot we were going to be pleased and we were. Nino waited on us and that young Man did well. There was a communicate barriers and he made us feel welcome. All our meals were outstanding. Menu definitely has it varieties. Porcupine was Packed and busy. Even the general manager came to our table to make sure everything was alright.
Great food, great atmosphere! I like how they change the ambience based on the season.
The view, the service and the food were excellent. Very worth another visit! I could wish for a quieter atmosphere, although it wasn't so loud as to eliminate private conversation.
Took the motorcycle and the lady. Great place to eat at the base of big cottonwood. Took a ride after lunch up the canyon over guardsman. Food was great. Always chill service. Enjoy.
Decent food. Good atmosphere. Kinda pricey.
Always great for food. Right at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, this is a natural stop after a day of skiing or snowboarding. Has that perfect "cabin" feel for a place to hang out and have some food and drinks while watching the snow. The menu is top notch, and the beer is a great selection of local craft brews. Service has ALWAYS been great here, we don't go as often as we used to only because we aren't on that side of town anymore, or we'd go every few weeks
Perfect day on the patio! Great service and great food
Favorite post hike place to eat. Hearty and yet not too heavy.
Great family spot with options for everyone! Without fail I always get the turkey sandwich and the artichoke cheese dip!
First time here, great service, food is good, nice buzz in the building, enjoyed my experience, will come back, soon!
The food and service is great! I highly recommend. But be careful of you are sitting on the balcony. There are a few wasps nests.
This is my sister-in-law’s favorite restaurant. It was a perfect spot after our hike to Lake Blanche. Sarita, our waitress was the best! She is relatively new but did a fabulous job: so sweet, personal and accommodating. I loved the thick steak fries with my burger. I’m gluten free so I made my burger with the vast assortment of veggies Into a salad, which was perfect. My friend ordered the Thai chicken pasta and he loved it, has ordered it several times. The special of chicken ravioli was a bit too rich and creamy, but still tasty.
Love the atmosphere here. It's typically super busy on the weekends but we always find comfort sitting at the bar. Their potato beer cheese soup is one of my favorites. And of course the pumpkin beer!
This place is always awesome and has been for all the years we've gone! Great food, some of the best soups we've ever tasted, always a great beer selection, casual, chill atmosphere, and great service. Best calimari I've ever eaten.. One of our all time favorite places to go.
Amazing food, great service by our server Steve and comfortable casual atmosphere
I've never had a bad meal at Porcupine. Disappointed, though, when I stopped in for lunch after 2 p.m. on a Saturday, only to be told I could only order off the brunch menu until 3:00. My two favorites are on the regular menu, and the cook refused to make them. Serving brunch until 3 p.m. seems a bit long.
For Utah, this place has decent food and is pretty fast. I would actually come here more if they served beer, but hey it's Utah and beer is bad right?
Had a really great experience tonight. Had the kale and corn soup and it was soooo good. The service was great too.
I love this place so much. I ordered from this place for the executives at my work and they orders were always right, food was always fresh and service was amazing. I highly recommend getting the ahi tuna eggrolls. They raw tuna is lighly fried and the sauce or comes with is amazing.
Best dessert ever! Nice views. Friendly staff.
Always a classic for a post hike or ski day. I don't think there's anything on the menu I don't enjoy. Great beers and cocktails. Fun atmosphere. Service is always spot on.
Had the nachos. Delicious. Huge serving so definitely share!
Great for brunch and dinner, I've never tried anything I didn't like. It gets very busy at the usual times, but I think it's worth the wait.
We dine here often. It is always busy, but we don't mind waiting. The food is delicious and they offer a great variety of options. We enjoy their Enchiladas, Turkey Cranberry Sandwhich, Pizza, and so much more. Desserts are wonderful too. Check the specials. Our favorite dessert specials have been the Peanut Butter Pie and Raspberry Torte! Fun atmosphere and friendly to our child. Good service as well.
Average food and high prices. Not impressed. It's fairly popular because of location but I consistently leave disappointed with the quality of the food especially for the price
I've heard a pot of hype about this place so I had to try it out. Great atmosphere, great food.
Friendly and professional service. The food was delicious.
The nachos were killer, they were almost a foot tall. It's kind of loud though with all the conversations going. The place gets really busy so the staff tends to kind of hurry people out. If your looking for a quick dinner with good food, this is the place. If you want someplace to just chill and relax, not so much.
Great food will come back for BBQ RIBS and garlic mashed potatoes
The nacho appetizer was amazing. It’s loaded with toppings in each layer, so every chip has something on it. It was so big it took three of us to eat it. I also had the shrimp margarita pizza which was good.
Reliably good food. Clean. Good beer selection. A little pricey for the food.
Great good! I ordered a chicken sandwich which was amazing.
Service and food were good. The only bummer is that it was super loud! Granted it was a full house, but I felt bad having to yell my order at my server!
Good food and a pleasant environment. Good wait staff.
Food was great! Amber was so friendly and made sure we had a great experience! French toast combo for me and huge nachos for my boyfriend. Loved both! Oktoberfest here is so unique!
Sit up to the bar for an entertaining visit, foods great and service is courteous and professional. Great selection of beer and drafts, check out the specials, always a good choice. Love the ahi rolls...
Don't bother. If you're hungry and/or thirsty go to Hogs Wallow or Silver Fork so you will get fed. If you want to compare groovy man buns while being ignored by servers, this is the place. I give up.
The Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich was delicious. It was an excellent refuel after a langthy hike off Big Cottonwood canyon. The service was friendly and the ambiance was relaxed and welcoming.
Every time I've been here the whole party has loved it. This week was nachos and fish tacos. Last time was the salmon. Go here. Relax. Enjoy the mountains nearby. And just fall in love with this place.
The food and atmosphere here is amazing. They were all so kind and accommodating to my one year old twins and their normal chaos. My family all loved it!
The food, wine and atmosphere is always spot on.
This is a great place to stop by after playing in the cottonwood canyons! Great for brunch or dinner and drinks!
It has been a while since I’ve been here and few years ago they had great food. It was my go to place after work. But I went back and was disappointed. The Wahoo fish tacos were a sad attempt at beach food for $18 and the “special” sea food jambalaya was “off” and tasted frozen. Beer was great, service was great. The only savior was our nacho appetizer. Please make some quality changes to entrees.
Prices are a little high but the food is really good
Great view and nice people. Would go again in a minute!
Love this place!! The artichoke cheese dip is TO DIE FOR! The service is always great, even when they're super busy! I wish they would bring Baja beer back!! It was my favorite and this was one of the only places you could get it
Ok, where yuppies like to be seen. To load sometimes. Octoberfest menu is nice. Prices are to high for the quality.
We ended up visiting the Porcupine Pub twice for dinner during our week long ski trip. We had such a great experience the first time, we came back! I wish I remembered their names, but our sever each time was awesome! The food portions are hefty. The chicken noodle soup is delicious. And the Chocolate Porcupine is a must! Both adorable and yummy! This is the perfect place to land after a long day of skiing and the menu has something for everybody.
Porcupine is a metro Salt Lake classic, IMHO, and has always been a favorite stomp. Nothing on their menu falls short of awesome and their staff is hip, lovely, and always on point.
Another wonderful evening at Porcupine! Great food, friendly & efficient service, and the best nachos in the valley. Also tried the cinnamon toast cocktail, loved it!
Good food, nice dining and great staff. Food is affordable $$ out of $$$$$ definitely a nicer place but with a wide variety. Wait staff was quick and attentive. Will definitely visit again.
Very well made Cajun chicken Alfredo. It had a delicious sauce and tender chicken slices. We had a great time on the deck, but although our waitress was very accommodating, she was not very attentive. Not terrible, just a little slow. I would definitely come back.
4 Stars to this place. Very Trendy place Great atmosphere Busy place so don't expect to have the best service experience. Servers do their best but it is a very popular place so please be understanding. Very Utahn meaning charming and cool service Not cheap but good food and average of $20 to $25 bucks per person food and soft drinks It is a pub so keep with that in mind. I think it can be a good place for the youth to adults but definitely NOT for little kids!!! Clean taste Crowded at times so plan ahead it is a popular place in Salt Lake you know Try their Nachos, they are loaded and very good. Big enough for 2 people Next time I will post pictures of food but portions are very generous. We welcome people from all over the world. Euopean tourists are very welcome in Utah but please tip your sever people. Utah servers in general are the best so tip your server if you receive a good service please!! It is the american way.
Chicken soup is excellent! Fun atmosphere.
Group gathering in their upstairs room. Impeccable service. Good food
This was my first experience here, but I have heard many good things about this place for years. I was pleased to find the service was friendly and our server impressively informed us of the specials which was no easy task. The food was all I had heard it was. I tried the "Mushroom Lovers" special pizza. It did not disappoint.
Had the jalepeno clam chowder (amazing) and the salmon sandwich on the grain bun (also amazing, great sauce). The wife had the fish tacos. If you have a hard time choosing between flour or corn tortillas, don’t worry, it comes with a crunchy corn tortilla wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. The cilantro lime ranch sauce is amazing on these tacos and the Oaxaca cheese compliments everything perfectly. The kids loved the tomato soup and pizza. And of course we had to finish the night with the chocolate porcupine and some hot chocolates. You won’t find a desert like this anywhere else. I can’t believe this is my first time coming here. I drive by it multiple times every year on my way up the canyon. Not only do they have perhaps the best location for a restaurant, but I was happy to find out their food is great too. Thanks to our server, Brandon, for being on top of everything and creating a great evening.
I love their special menus. Especially around Octoberfest. My favorite thing to get is the soup, it's cheap but filling, and they have great flavors (and it comes with a roll). For dessert, THE CHOCOLATE PORCUPINE is AMAZING. Seriously. I was amazed. It looks like a porcupine and is delicious mouse and cake encased in yummy chocolate, served with whipped cream and ice cream. The people are nice too. Sometimes there is a wait for a table but it's not bad.
After that long hike, the food and drinks at this place is worth the wait. Never disappoints.
I'd give this place 5 stars but I was told 25min wait turned into 40min. Other than that, waitress was cool very helpful with knowing the menu. Food was delicious & had variety to choose from. The cherry bbq salmon was so good. My family & I enjoyed this restaurant. I would come here again regardless the drive.
We loved this restaurant. The service, the food, and the view from the patio were all great! We started with the artichoke appetizer, make sure you ask for the balsamic reduction with it. It goes great with this! For the main we got the Santa Fe chicken burger, which was good. A tad spicy with jalapenos on the burger, of you're into that. We also tried the Thai Chicken Pasta which is recommended! Also on the spicy side but delicious! We had 2 desserts, the Salted Caramel Cheesecake and Carrot cake. We would recommend both, but be warned they are HUGE desserts! They were shared amongst the table and it was perfect! We will return if we are ever in the area again.
I literally have sent a message to the owner to be buried in their nachos. We’ll see if they respond. Drowned in cheese, covered in toppings, and perfectly toasted chips. Makes my mouth water thinking about them. Their other food is also very good and perfectly seasoned.
The food was seriously disappointing for the price we paid. Also, the waitress removed someone's plate before they finished eating.
Environment was really fast. Lots going on but our waiter was on top of everything and very professional. The food was excellent. However, it is pricey... and absolutely worth it.
Great food! Be sure to check the specials on the board as you enter. The Wahoo fish tacos are always awesome.
Food was fabulous - a little pricey, but quality. Hostesses were not very friendly - no smiles - just all business. Place was clean, menu was huge. If you couldn't find something you wanted, not sure where else you would go. I heard the desserts were amazing, but I did not partake :) All in all, a great place to unwind and have a semi-quiet dinner with colleagues.
Good food and service! Very loud in restaurant. Hard to hear your dinner companions!
Took our friends for brunch today. It was awesome food and our waitress Syria was a joy. Our friends were very impressed and cant wait to go back.
This place has delicious food! Everything I've tried so far has been excellent. However, I feel like the prices are too high for such a casual environment. The food is priced like a fine dining restaurant, but the atmosphere is loud, and the decor is ok. I highly recommend trying the caesar salad, and crumb brulee. It's one of the best caesar salads I've ever had, with a slight kick.
It's an alright spot. Kinda reminds me of Bohemian Brewery a bit. If you haven't been to Bohemian Brewery tho, go check out that spot first tho. Porcupine does turn out some stellar burgers tho.
Always great service even when busy. Excellent assortment of beer and the food is always tasty.
Great location, wonderful food and really awesome selections. Would definitely go back next time I'm in town.
Great waitress (thanks Kim - you were awesome). I had the spicy chicken alfredo, and it was delicious. It looks like a popular place. We got there a 4:30 on a Saturday, and had no problem parking or getting a table, but when we left, there was a wait for tables and the parking lot was full.
Really good. Octoberfest special menu.
Great service, tasty food. Nora and Meghan both made helpful suggestions and we all really loved our meals. Will go again and again.
