If you're looking for New York style pizza in SLC, this is probably some of the better stuff available. NYC pizza isn't exactly my jam, but I'm sure those well versed in the pizza might enjoy what Maxwell's has to offer.

I was looking for a gluten free sanwhich, but ended up with pasta. I was very disappointed to find they did not have any pastas on thier lunch menu so my bill ended up being twice as much as I would have liked. I would say it was pretty over priced for what I got. Staff was nice and attentive. Very empty during lunch looks like a great place for dinner and they have a lot of large booths perfect for big families. They have a bar side and a restaurant side so under 21 are welcome, you just have to enter through the courtyard door not too far away. Not the cleanest place I've seen especially with it being so slow on a Monday afternoon. As for the food itself it was good but not great. I got the chicken marsala and enjoyed that part, but was surprised when the meat and sauce were served separate from the pasta so there wasn't enough sauce. The gluten free pasta was very meh I've had a lot better for cheaper. Probly won't come back.

This place is a restaurant before 10 and a bar after. I've been here before and the food was good but the service was subpar. I went back with a group of people after a Christmas party. The first time we attempted to get a drink I stood in line for ten minutes behind one person who just gave up and left. Then I stood there for an additional ten minutes only to be ignored. No eye contact, no reassurance that they would help us soon, just ignored. We had to move to a different part of the oval bar and we ignored there for an additional ten minutes. I moved again, leaving my friends trying to double our efforts and was finally helped. I went back for a second drink 30 minutes later and waited patiently until the bartender finished helping the people I recognized as being there before me. When I attempted to get this persons attention after everyone else was helped, again, I was ignored. The bartender ignored my pleas for service for more than 10 more minutes while they helped other customers that had gotten there after me. When I finally did get the bartenders attention I was treated rudely so I decided to just pat my tab and leave. In all the bars I've visited in Salt Lake City this one had the worst service bar none. I hope their management actually reads these posts and retains the bartenders or let's them go and gets a quality staff. It's quite a disappointment considering the location and atmosphere. It could be so much better.

I am unsure if the waiter was new or today was a bad day for this place. After going through a list of restaurants here in SLC that have been on the show Diners, Drive In's and Dives, my husband and I finally made it to Maxwell's. First, our server. Didnt introduce himself to us (sadly, I have no clue who he is), didnt repeat our orders back to us (which resulted in a meal missed), and didnt follow up with us at all to see how our food was. We waited 35 min for appetizers, 45 minutes for our main meal, asked for the check immediately after our food was delivered and it took another 30 minutes and asking 3 times for the check for us to receive it. There was a gentleman in charge there but even he didnt help our situation. Amazingly no meals were comped but yet we were given a 10% coupon as an apology for how bad the service was. With this place being on a Food Network, I was seriously expecting so much more than what we received. Sorry, I will not be returning to see if the 2nd time is better with a 10% off coupon. Not worth it.

Went there as a large group for drinks and appetizers. If you prefer self-service, this is the place to go., because service was next to non-existent. Food was ok and one person had a piece of glass in their drink. Let the server know and not a single person came to the table to address it.

By day, a diner serving old-world Italian fare. By night, a club, where the most commonly-worn attire is a leopard-print dress. We showed up at 11A and the line was starting to form. But not to worry, there were plenty of seats for everyone. The Philly Cheesesteak is probably my favorite menu item (with fries, of course...they're lightly battered!) --get it with American cheese and Cheese Whiz! You'll also need to try the stuffed mushrooms -- unless you're lactose intolerant, because they are the yummiest, cheesiest tid-bits! And you'll need an order of the mussels! btw... they serve Fat Boy Pizza, and I've never even made it that far into thre menu. Philly + fries + mussels + stuffed mushrooms + any cocktail ❤

Omg!!! Maxwell !!! I had so many dinners there !!! First of all, in a lot of cases it is the only place open late after late arrival. Thank you ! Second of all, they offer gluten free pizza! Score ! Thank you ! The place is well operated. Bartenders always remember your order. They would start cooking my pizza when uber pulled up!!!

Maxwell's is a great place to get a huge slice of pizza and watch a game. Great food and a good location right downtown make this worth checking out. I was recently there with a larger group and they messed up on my order. I was the only one in the group to not get my food. I had to leave before I could get the food. I'm sure they would have fixed it, but it was disappointing to go there without eating lunch, but this hadn't happened before. Be patient if you go with a big group, but still go. I'll go back (with a smaller group).

Horrible experience, food was cold, returned 3 times still barely lukewarm at best. Six of us had cold entrees, we all complained and ask 3 times for food to be heated. Each time there was no difference in the temperature of the food. Hostess said each meal was made when it was ordered. My feeling is that the food is premade and heated, how do you get cold sauce if it is "just made fresh"??? Tap beer was unavailable, Moscow Mule was poor quality, ginger beer was not present. We were given a free pizza, ok but I am not a fan of pizza. Crust was burnt in places and tough to chew. I do not recommend this place.

Giving it 4 stars because the food is awesome but we did encounter bad wait times both times. Went here twice when my coworkers and I were in town for a conference - we saw that it had been featured on Guy’s DDD so we had to go. Again, the only downside is that the food took FOREVER both times, the first time a pizza and a salad took 45 minutes. If they cooked things a little quicker and servers were a little more attentive, this place would be even better. But nonetheless the food is yummy, some of the best pizza I’ve had.

I ordered the wings while I was here and fully enjoyed them. Cool looking place to catch the game and some grub. The pizza looked good and I will be back to grab a slice or two. We went during the lunch hour and was pleased with the service with no long waits, and the staff was nice.

Poor service. Poor food quality. 100% reheated. The waitress actually forgot my meal completely and only brought out my husband's...odd situation since their were only 2 of us. Lol. AND after waiting 25 minutes before she checked on our table again, she still didn't even realize I never got a meal. This place is a joke and NOT a sports bar either. The food is pretty much all Italian and reheated cheap pizza.

Went for a coworker's birthday on a Saturday during club hours. Was with only women in our party and happened to be last to arrive, was first told they were "at capacity" (literally had 20 people) so denied entrance. Was then let in after one of my girls came out to say I was with them. Was then charged a cover, and finally made ill by whatever happened to be in our drinks. Have never and will never return.

This is an all time favorite. There are large TV's to watch the game, and a great atmosphere. I always get the Donny Brasco Pizza because it is to die for. Admittingly I have never had any drinks here, and I know it's a bar, so for that kind of review, you'd better look elsewhere. It's always pretty popular, so I image the drinks are good.

This is one of the most off the wall eating experiences. Started out with drunken mussels with jalapeno a top shelf margarita. So very good. The sauce on the mussels was to die for. The jalapenos I don't think added to the dish. I could not taste the jalapeno. The margarita was excellent I will come back for one of those. For dinner I ordered spaghetti with sausage, great sauce but way over sauced. No bread served with the pasta. I wanted to order some bread but could not get a server to come back by, I almost called the hostess on the phone to ask for a server. My dinner guest asked me not to. She had the eggplant parmesan she enjoyed hers very much. Once a server came by and I asked if they had bread. She said I could order garlic bread, so I oreder garlic bread. A few minutes later she came back and asked if i wanted "butter on it". "Its better with butter" she said. Um yes please. So 5 pieces of rock hard toast appear on my table each one adorned with a pad of butter in the middle. Awful. We were served bread with our drunken mussels that was tremendous why not a piece or two of that. Service I give a 3, food I give a 7 I would give a 8 or 9 if you have some bread with your spaghetti. Drinks a 9.

This bar helped get a girl killed. according to news reports they hired a known sex offender to work security here. They didn’t perform a background check on him and they didn’t check to see if the security firm was licensed. Inadvertently helping keep around a sex offender who eventually shot and murdered a young woman in salt lake. I question their ability to provide a safe environment for those going there

The location an atmosphere of this bar are phenomenal. I went in at 12pm on a Sunday and they had a Bloody Mary station set up and were serving Mimosas as well. The brunch menu was absolutely perfect, with a mix of breakfast and lunch items in reasonable quantities. I will definitely be going back to this location and taking friends. 5 stars easy.

We came in for dinner at 230 today a Saturday. Only they weren't serving dinner until 5 p.m. Maybe they should advertise somewhere when they change menus. We had a slice of pepperoni pizza which was on the cooler side of warm. It was ok but I wouldn't recommend it.

I just want to be short and honest about our Experience here.. They do have great food, but if you are planning on drinks being constant here, they weren't and the bartenders, lack customer service and personality!! But other then that, they had great music and food...

Maxwell's has good food. If you plan on going here on a Friday or Saturday night make sure to have a few drinks before going. This place is usually packed and it's hard to get a drink from the bar. You'll be waiting for a good 20 to 30 minutes for a drink. They do play good music.

Bad service, waitress forgot about our food, took forever to get the food to the table even though it was sitting under the sunlamp for 20 minutes. Food has potential, but simply didn't meet any reasonable expectations.

Pizza was good, but no pasta offered for lunch. Also the chicken parm sandwich was overcooked and served on garlic white toast not garlic bread. This place has kind of going down hill from the first time we ate here a few years ago.

It is amazing that you can order custom slices of pizza. The size was big, but not as big as I expected. I had 2 and it was not enough. Next time I'll have to order 4. One of my friends ordered wings and they were sitting on the kitchen for a long time. They were very cold by the time they served them.

All the food was delicious. It would have received 5 stars but our waiter was inattentive. He also seemed really annoyed. I had the Philly cheese steak and the added the wrong toppings. They remade it but a manager never came and talked to us. My wife had an empty drink for over half her meal. And we waited a long time for our check after we finished eating.

Went here on a Monday after work and ordered two slices of veggie pizza. The slices were old. Bland, dry , and definitely lacked cheese. It's a cool looking sports bar, but the pizza ranks below what's under the heat lamps at your local 711. Only giving this two stars instead of one because of the bartender, Ben, who was super friendly and quick to refill my beer. There are better choices nearby, as evidenced by the lack of a crowd at the dinner rush

Let me start this off by saying the food is awesome and has been every time, but the service was the worst I’ve ever seen. Had to wait 10 minutes before we were even noticed standing at the front door, I walked over to the restroom and came back while we waited, still hadn’t been seated but I did notice the bartender girl was playing on her phone! When she finally noticed us we found our own table and her friend that didn’t appear to work there actually handed us the menus as we were walking to find a table. We were asked what we wanted to drink and an appetizer. We didn’t see her again for a good 15 minutes. While all this was happening there were two gentlemen sitting on the patio that had been there when we first walked up and they were never checked on. They finally walked in and asked the waitress for their check because she had forgotten about them outside. The service was continually so bad. We asked for boxes and the check and left and went else where for dessert and more food. I really hope the service at maxwells improves because we love the food and use to look for excuses to come here for any special occasion because we have to drive an hour both ways to get there. Really disappointed.
