So.... we have gone here 5 times or so. Only once has our order been correct and for that I couldn’t give 5 stars. The chicken is soooooooo good and the honey butter. Dang!!! So yummy. They REALLY need to invest in a new intercom. But long story short... best chicken you’ll ever eat!

Service was horrible, saw people eating, playing on phones, dancing listening to music and not being clean after touching cell phones the touching food. No structure at all. Looked like a high school. (around 8pm on 11/6/18) This was the first time I've been here. We waited in the drive thru for 30 min after ordering. Then could clearly see why it took that long. Lots of young kids messing around and not working. Our order was given to us wrong but after not wanting to wait in line again we just left with the incorrect order. Won't be going there again. The chicken was actually pretty good. But for how bad of service and cleanliness, we won't be going here ever again.

We went there last Friday because we have loved the chicken in the past and wanted to share it with my parents who were visiting. The drive through line was about 10 cars deep, which is the norm and didn’t bother us, so we just walked up to the window. After waiting for 5 minutes out in the cold before someone acknowledged me, I finally asked if I could order 15 pieces of thighs and legs only. The gal looked confused and told me she would have to ask. So she went back and asked and told me no, they didn’t have enough chicken to do that...so I asked her what I could order, and she told me “an 8 piece dark” to which I asked her what that consisted of. And she said thighs and legs...??????? That’s exactly what I wanted! So couldn’t I order 2 of those? And she told me no. So I told her “basically you are limiting me to 8 pieces of chicken?” And she said “yes, because they had lots of other large orders coming through and had to ration” By that time I was so freezing and dumbfounded I just turned around and left. What kind of restaurant who ONLY SERVES POULTRY limits the amount of chicken a customer could by at 5 on a Friday, IN UTAH!!! Even if my parents hadn’t been visiting, I have a family of 6 and 8 pieces of chicken would not be enough. Seems like you should plan ahead for busy nights. It wasn’t even late yet!!!! If I had had my witts about me I would have ordered 8 pieces and then made my wife go order 8 pieces. It’s gonna take a lot for us to go back there with such horrible service. The gal didn’t even know what was going on. Very unprofessional. Oh! Also, I watched one older gentlemen use his ungloved hands to unload cooked rolls...In all my food safety classes, you aren’t allowed to touch cooked food with ungloved hands...it’s one thing before it’s cooked, but something completely different after. Unsanitary!!!!

My only complaint is that every time I come the wait is outrageous. The food is always great and I understand that good , fresh food takes time. But this last time I literally wait over 35 minutes in the drive though. I think the employees could have a better sense of urgency when it comes to getting orders out in a timely manner. Other than that my experiences here have been good as far as good and fresh food.

Great food. Service is terrible. We visit often but half of the time they mess up our order and we have to call when we get home and let them know. Today we waited in the drive thru for 30 minutes. We had our baby in the car our mistake. When we pulled up to the window we paid and she said we will have your food right out. We could see right behind her what looked like it could be our order all ready to hand out the window in the bag. Literally 5 minutes later she handed it to us out the window without adding anything to it. Very disappointed.

Freaking delicious, best damn chicken sandwiches around. Great customer service, too. One time they forgot to put the chicken nuggets in my children's kids meals and not only did they fix the error, they gave us a coupon to come back again and get 3 free kids meals for our trouble. They are awesome!

The only problem was their garbage smelled really bad, it needed to be emptied. I don't know how anybody could sit outside by the garbage and eat, it made me want to vomit. The food was really good but they were a little slow getting our order to us

I have always loved this place, my sister introduced me to it about 3-4 years ago and I fell in love because I always felt like I got my money’s worth for the quantity & quality. I have been faithful for a long time. I never felt jipped. However, the past couple months I have been pretty disappointed and I feel weird leaving a review because I am not a “reviewer” kind of a person and always like to give benefit of the doubt. I also don’t expect anything free, I just want quality and quantity to come back and to not disappear! The past few (maybe about the last 6 or so) orders I have received have not been what I have always expected in the past. The amount of fries I have been getting with my meal have been SIGNIFICANTLY decreasing. Even the honey butter for the rolls have looked awful as though it had been sitting somewhere forever, but I was able to do without it without getting too bothered. Tonight i went just over an hour before close. There was a car in front and one parked in the lot. It was the most empty I have seen I quite some time. I always thought it closed at 9pm so I figured maybe they were in a rush to close like 40 minutes before because it was slow and it looked like I got the last tiny bit of fries they had left and then JUST learned they actually close later! I was really sad to see that it looked like I got about 1/3rd of what I normally used to get. Lately it’s been about 2/3rds but this finally made me realize maybe this means they are cutting back on quantity like many other big corporations? I hope not. The fries looked like a very small handful where I am used to them almost overflowing the box. I used to need way more than 3 fry sauce containers and I only needed to use 1 this time around. They finally are giving more fry sauce but less and less fries. WHY??? This is why I go to this place and why I recommend this place to my friends. Because they are always (or used to be) so generous with fries! Something that is already cheap! Now we both look like liars to referrals I have given out. Tonight I asked for a roll instead of a drink. It’s in the receipt, but I promise you I did not even receive the roll I asked for and quite frankly paid for. I’m beginning to feel mega ripped off each time I go. Thankfully I got the right sandwich because one of the last times I went they gave me the wrong sandwich, but again, I wanted to give them benefit of the doubt. I never complain about my food until quantity starts to change noticeably. Please don’t take the greedy route. I will begin referring more friends and buying more once I see that things are brought back to the way they used to be. I will be holding off from now on unless I decide to give it another shot and see that things have changed back to the way they WERE. If I don’t see things back to the way they always used to be, I will quit my business and I know others who are beginning to feel the same. What is going on??? I would love to give 5 stars but for now that might not be happening.

The only drive thru I'm happy to spend more than 2 minutes in. This chicken is worth the wait. So fresh, so juicy, so damn tasty! Drums, strips, turkey steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, it's all amazing. Stop eating, "insert greasy chicken place," and come see what great chicken tastes like! You won't need a roll of paper towels to eat this bird.

While reading the reviews a lady had mention that the kids that work there only speak spanish . let me tell you something, 2 of my kids are Hispanics that work there, and im so offended because they speak English no one there speaks spanish . they work very hard . i think it was very ignorant to say, and maybe you should take a look in the mirror because god dont like ugly and to the owner you treat these kids like family and for that i thank you.

I love this place. I dont live anywhere near here, but everytime I come to Layton I MUST have Maddox. The chicken is juicy and the breading is delicious. The breading isn't too thick either. The price is good too. We fed 6 people for $24.

Food is probably the best chicken I ever had. Consistently Perfect. The wait however.... I was there early evening with about 5 cars ahead. No idea how 'prepared freshly' could translate to a 20 minute wait for 5 customers. Brutal. But I still keep going. Literally headed there right now!

Great service. We called ahead. The amount of food for the family meal was awesome. Chicken was cooked near perfect . Plenty of fry sauce and honey butter. Great prices too. The only criticism is that the fries could have been crispier. Otherwise, I'm very happy. Oh, green beans and bacon or fried ocra would have been cool. Thanks!

Delicious fried chicken that tastes so much better than KFC or Popeye's. Their breading is refreshingly different than the typical fast food style fried chicken where you'll usually find gobs of breading coming off your chicken. The included cornbread is a great change from biscuits. The food is prepared when you order it, so expect a bit of a wait, even in the drive-thru. I'd recommend trying the 3 piece fried chicken meal with mashed potatoes if it's your first time.

I literally have never written a review before. But today I just have to vent.. my family has been going here for over 20 years. I love it so much. But the service is getting to be such a joke. I understand, and appreciate fresh food, and can wait a little for it. BUT, every time I, or my other siblings or parents have gone, it’s a 30 minute or more wait.. where it used to be like 10 minutes. And I see the employees taking their time, laughing, dancing, and staring at my READY food.. for a good 10 minutes.. then they finally pick it up and bring it to the window! It’s extremely frustrating. On top of that my order has been wrong the last 3 times! And who wants to try and go back into that line or parking lot to fix it?! Love your food, hate the service. A sense of urgency would go a long ways to us who have waited 35 minutes for a turkey burger, and that’s it. Even then, an apology or a friendly face and gesture would be great too. The kid today literally never said ONE word to me, but he probably knew he was in trouble for not grabbing my food for 10 MINUTES! I was so annoyed, and all the poor cars behind me were honking and getting out of their cars! And not one employee stepped up to say sorry or anything!

They can't get an order right. Requests to leave things off are acknowledged, but not fulfilled. I've enjoyed their food, but the lack of accuracy on customer orders is so frustrating. Don't bother going here unless you're very clear and check before you drive off.

I wish I could give this place five stars because their food tastes absolutely incredible, but the last two times my wife and I have gone there (only within the last six months) they've left out big parts of our pricey orders. This isn't Wendy's we're talking about here, when you pay an arm and a leg price for great quality hot food and settle down for a weekend movie treat at home, the last thing you want to do is decide when you're going back for the missed portions. First time was an entire peach pie they left out. Second time they left out both our biscuits and our cornpone. I get that it's busy but seriously how hard is it to check our order?! Makes us think twice about coming back. All that said, the food is to die for. The chicken is unlike anything I've ever had, and I don't eat a lot of that normally. The breading on it is just perfect, doesn't crumble off, not too greasy. Biscuits and all baked stuff is obviously made. All the food tastes great, even the fries are unique and seemed like they had a special touch. The peach pie was the only thing I had that was only good, but not particularly impressive... But maybe that was a tainted experience for me or maybe they didn't finish making it because there was no cream or crust on top... A bit strange and hard to dish, seemed overpriced after also driving there twice. Anyway you get the idea, their food is so good they could even manage to keep a perturbed customer like me coming back at least once in a while. Just make sure to CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE DRIVING AWAY. They will get it wrong and their lines get very long.

The food was good. However the service and behavior of the employees was horrendous. I understand hiring young kids to work in this type establishment, but if there were my employees I would have fired them on the spot. Eating food in front of customer in the drive thru, throwing salt and pepper packets at each other, as well as chicken. Snap chatting each other, and from the angle probably myself thru the drive thru window. Where is a manager over the age of 16 on a Saturday night? There was an issue that the Pepsi syrup had run out and so they kept yelling “is someone going to fix this?” for 15 minutes before I finally said I’ll just have something else. No mashed potatoes or cole slaw on a Saturday night? Was never told thank you when handed my food or drink and was made to seem like an inconvenience for interrupting the young girl and guys “playtime” in the drive thru window. Will not be returning to this location after watching the way employees treat each other and the food.

Love it. The Chicken is better than popular chain restaurants isn't as greasy. And the Potatos are yummy and real and fresh, not flavorless and made from instant powdered flakes. However they do not have and drinks without high fructose corn syrup for people who are sensitive to that and cannot have it. Be prepared to drink water again.

It's been a while since I loved every part of a fast food meal. The last time I tried this place the chicken was a little bland but my wife insisted we go again and they totally nailed it this time. The cornpone and honey butter were lovely, and the fries tasted like they were cooked in an oil that was mixed with hamburger grease... And it was awesome. And, as previously alluded, the chicken was delicious. The pink lemonade was pretty meh, I guess. It came premixed from a fountain, so I won't hold it against them.

The food was good, but it was a hot summer afternoon, and the garbage cans near the outdoor seating area hadn't been emptied and were overflowing with trash. Needless to say, the stench from all the chicken bones and left over poultry products was enough to make even the most stout stomached of microbiologists nauseated. I suppose it goes with the territory when every employee looked like they were still in high school.

Great chicken. We only like the breast and it's ALWAYS moist, tastes VERY good and a good portion. They are ALWAYS consistent with everything they have on the menu. Their pies are also very good. The workers are extremely nice and helpful. Service is excellent and prices are good. I've never had to wait very long during peak times when I go up to the order window or the drive through. 5 stars everytime and we go there AT LEAST once a week!

Absolutely the most unprofessional employees and horrific service I’ve ever had! Drive thru dumped a cup of Dr. Pepper down the exterior and interior door of my Brand new vehicle! The employee not only failed to seal the lid on the drink they were trying to hand me, she ignored me when My daughter and I tried telling her it wasn’t sealed. She pushed it towards me, popping the lid off and dumped the drink all over me and all down the electrical components of my car door. When I asked for help & a towel she handed me 4 napkins! After several requests she finally gave me a towel to soak some of it up but refused to help me get in contact with the store owner or even write down their names or the managers names. The young employees laughed and played around inside while I had to stand at the drive thru and soak up the pop the drive thru attendant had dumped on my car. Prior to the drink incident, They’d place our order wrong. When I brought it to their attention they changed it but added and charged me for a breast I HADN’T requested. We had to ask where our large side of potatoes was and when we finally got them home found out there was absolutely no gravy on them. They failed to help with the pop they spilled on my vehicle, failed to replace the drink they dumped and sent us home without the other drinks we’d paid for.

I have only been to C&B Maddox a few times. I have enjoyed their sandwiches, but recently we got their chicken and I found the breading somewhat bland. Maybe it needed some sauce of some kind? The sides were pretty good though. The service was fine.

HANDS DOWN the BEST fried chicken in Utah, no lie! It's light and melts in your mouth. I usually add hot sauce for more flavor, but no need because it's literally perfection. People hit this place up because it's well worth the trip. OMGoodness! If you came up with a spicy flavor chicken I'm yours FOREVER!! I'm a fan because fried chicken was a staple growing up in my family. Let me tell you the cornpones are out of this world too! You'll never go wrong at this spot, for real!!

If you love Maddox in Brigham city, this is a well kept secret in Layton that tasted the exact same! We took advantage of their Monday night special which is a 10 piece chicken with two large sides, 1/2 dozen rolls and a whole cream pie, all for $28! Not bad! I also love the turkey steak

Went there tonight (11/28/18) to get the turkey steak dinner. There was 4 cars in front of me. Waited for a long time to even order. When I finally got to the window to pay they were even slower. The girl taking the money at the window kept playing with her ponytail over by the food. When she went to bag up my food she didn't even wash her hands before handing me my food. They looked so unorganized in there. I had to ask them where my rolls and corn polls were. They didn't have it in my bag. When I got home the rolls and corn polls were cold. They shorted me a roll. The turkey steaks were burnt. I don't know that I'll ever go there again.

Have loved the food for ever. But last 3 visits have not been what I ordered. Girl was new so I cut some slack but they have had new people working for along time. Ordered a 3 piece meal tonight. Got charged for a 3 piece meal and there is 1 piece. I nearly got someone else's order so I repeated that mine was a 3 piece meal and a slice of pie and still didn't get what I ordered. Learning the hard way to check whats in the bag before driving off.

Maddox is great and has been for years. Don't go there if you are in a hurry because they don't cook your food until you order it and fried chicken takes a few minutes. Don't worry about the wait because their fried chicken is worth it. Most business is drive thru and there is some outdoor seating.

Great food, and excellent prices! I always get the grilled chicken sandwich, which they let you customize every which way. They have a parmesan cheese sauce that you can put on your sandwich, which my son really likes. I really like they bread they use, it's got a good flavour that works very well with the chicken. I also get their mashed potatoes, which are served with a very tasty white country gravy. Sometimes I'll get their potato salad, which is above average. My dad really likes their coleslaw. This is probably the least expensive place to feed a family at in the area. The only negative thing I can say is that the wait is usually pretty long.

Great chicken! I usually get the chicken tenders, the are prepared a little differently than most places, the chicken strips are thinner with a darker crispier crust, but honestly, that what makes this place so great. The sides are delicious as well. This is a great lunch spot, but be prepared to wait a while for food as the lines are usually pretty long and the food isn't made until you order it. Also, they only have outdoor seating, so if it is chilly out you will need to get your food to-go or eat it in your car. Overall, there isn't a better chicken option in Davis county on a warm summer day.

The workers are very rude!!!!!!! At the drive in all they do is yell at you like actually yell at you over and over to order no matter how many time you ask them to please give you a moment to look over the menu. 2 stars because the food is good. Oh really?! You have a menu online.. gosh I had no idea... it should not matter if I choose to look at the menu online or in person on your sign. What matters is how your workers should not feel it is acceptable to scream at the customers for not ordering quickly enough. If you would take the time to speak to your employees you could help them to understand there are better ways of doing their job. For example don’t ask and then yell 2 more times” go ahead and order when you are ready” perhaps they could say “ is there anything I can help you find on the menu today”. FYI your response sucks as well.

I’ve gone to this Maddox for years. While the food itself was and remains very good. The service has gotten progressively worse. I understand and expect to wait when they are very busy. But today I waited for about 15 minutes at the speaker where you order. I called out four times and not once did I get a response. At least in the past someone would speak and acknowledge I was there, even if they weren’t ready to take my order. I pulled forward thinking that maybe I could just order at the drive thru window itself. Waited there for about 4-5 minutes and no one came to the window. 20 minutes total and I have nothing to show for it. More than likely I’m never going here again.

The food is as wonderful as it always was, but the service seems to have dropped significantly. The last several times I went through the drive thru I would get home and find that I didn't get my complete order which I had paid for. It's getting hard to communicate through their speaker when ordering, It looks like it's held together by duct tape. I haven't seen any investment into their property in a decade and probably longer than that. The overall experience seems to be declining rapidly which makes me disappointed.

The skinless fried chicken is less greasy than KFC and the other chains. The meat was tender and tasty. There roll was nice and soft, I will be back next time I am in Layton.

Generally great food. Not today. Service is really slow. Got burger meal, but replace drink, they ask if I want a substitute but didn't tell me they charge more. Fries were hard and crunchy. Not impressed. Burger was not good, should have stuck with chicken. I waited 22 min in line and gal at drive thru was not friendly. Asked for extra Fry sauce, she said in bag. I got 2. I guess that's extra?

Good food but lacking in the service department. We waited 25 minutes just to order our food with only two cars in front of us. I was a little bothered by that but let it go thinking they might be busy. Then we pull up to the window and the 4 girls are just standing there socializing. We then had to wait another 10 min for our food while they stood there talking. When we finally made it home I was mad to find out that they didn't give us everything we paid for. Very frustrating! I should've checked the order when we left but I was so happy to be leaving I didn't. I wasn't impressed with the service and lack of attention to detail. The food is good but I won't waste my time and money on this place again!!

Seems to be more of an organic type chicken place. The breading was thinner making the pieces look smaller. They didn't have excesive skin and and fat you have to pull off like other places. I will definitely be back......

The only time I have ever seen this place not busy is when they are closed, so my wife and I figured we would try it out. To us, it's just food. Nothing to scream at the mountains about, but also not bad. Will we go back? In all honesty, probably not. Just my two cents.

Yummiest food!!....with the longest wait! This is not fast food KFC for across the street. But it's also not dripping with grease, or instant potatoes and highly processed either. The chicken is perfect and unique. The sides are fresh. Their pies are delicious. The potatoes have chunks and taste real, with a gravy that is sinful. The chicken sandwich and the tenders are my favorite.

Food is worth 4 Stars +. I echo other reviews that wait time is long 25 minutes with 3 cars in front of me. 10 minutes at speaker before getting to order. May need more help inside. Tight on space, trash smell is definitely unpleasant. I would eat here again, may choose to call ahead for takeout next time.

As I say in nearly every one of my reviews, I take the star ratings very literally. If a restaurant has good food, reasonable service and a clean venue, it gets 3 stars from me. Any deficiencies will cause me to lower the number of stars by one or two. If it's exceptional in any area I'll give it an extra star and if it's exceptional, the best I've ever eaten, as good as it gets, I'll give them 5 stars. I'll cut to the chase, I've eaten there three or four times during the past couple of years. Yesterday I went to get some early dinner for the wife and I. I keep wanting to give this place 4 or 5 stars, like the Maddox Ranch House and Maddox Drive In in Perry Utah so richly deserve, but I just can't. I don't dock it any points for the venue, it's a drive-through with seats, if you want inside seating this isn't your place - there's a KFC down the street and a Popeye's over on Antelope if you was fast food chicken. They fall short on service, I don't mean the non-existent wait staff, I mean the simple stuff like getting your order right. They messed up my order, but it was messed up in my favor. I didn't discover that they gave me a couple extra pieces of chicken until I got back to the house, but they messed it up nonetheless. Then there's the matter of the most important part of a restaurant - the food. The chicken is good enough. I'm not a particularly big fan of cornmeal breading on fried chicken, but it's OK. I understand that some like it and give it high reviews. If I were grading the chicken alone I would give it 3 starts - it's good. I also order a turkey steak. I LOVE Maddox turkey steaks. I've never had a bad one at the Ranch House or the Perry Drive-In. I've never had a bad one that I've cooked myself. I had a bad one yesterday. It was dried out and inedible. The same with the rolls and cornbread. My wife ordered their 8 piece chicken nuggets and she couldn't finish them. Three were enough. I hate writing reviews like this, but honestly, it seems like they're not even trying. I will continue to be a loyal and enthusiastic customer of the Maddox restaurants in Perry, but I'm done with this one. There are too many good options within a couple mile radius.

Not as good as the original Maddox in Brigham, but a lot closer to Salt Lake. I live in Salt Lake and have taken the drive up here just for the chicken. The family deal is a great deal as well.
