REVIEWS OF Bok Bok, Korean Fried Chicken IN Utah

Idiot Fishband

Used to be a great place. Portions and quality have decreased drastically in the last few months. I used to recommend this place all the time, but they mix in hard, rubbery bits of old chicken with a tiny bit of fresh chicken now, so I can no longer recommend it without feeling embarrassed.

Andrew Massimini

Used to live in Korea and loved the chicken in Korea. Was hoping that this would be like the chicken in Korea but some of the options I got didn't resemble anything in Korea and were bland. However, I really liked the spicy options and felt they were close to what I remembered in Korea.

Ricks Davis

This is the real deal! Go for a spicy!

Love this place. House spicy boneless is where it's at! No seating, take out only.

Marissa Scholes

Bok Bok is incredible! I've been obsessed with their candied garlic wings for a hot minute, and crave them constantly. Recently, the owner showed up at my office and offered to sample their house wings and fries to all 400 of our employees - no cost at all. It was a treat for our employees and made everyone's day! They have raved about the food all week, and we plan on catering through BokBok frequently after their incredible service.

Judee Fisher

I love chicken strips, but they don’t stand a chance to the chicken I just had at Bok Bok this evening. Fresh cut strips of chicken, freshly battered , and the most amazing sauces I’ve ever experienced. Homemade candied garlic sauce made to perfection. This is not fast food...this is amazing food! If I could give this a 10 star rating, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Austen Pritchett

Delicious food. I got the boneless chicken with house sauce and fries and it was great. Super friendly service too.

Two month old, best chicken ever in my entire life. Cheap and very delicious. Best for family, single. or couple.

Kristen Westfall

Bok Bok is delicious (very similar to what I used to eat all the time in Seoul) and owner is Korean and so friendly. Clean environment (no tables because it is take out, true Korean fried chicken style) but there are outdoor standing tables that were perfect. We got 18 boneless for two people and it was way too much (oops) but great for leftovers!!!! Owner recommended fries and the Korean coleslaw for the sides and it was delish!

David Pierce

Tried this for the first time today. Best fried chicken I’ve ever had!

Nathan Beckett

They give you a lot of food! Tastes good. 양념이나 눈꽃 치즈나 간장 치킨이 있었으면 좋겠어요

Awesome food! They were super friendly and fast. The fries were really good and loved the boneless chicken. Will definitely be back!

Bill McMahon

Everything was good.

Cline Mattingly

The staff was all extremely friendly and were excited to talk us through the menu and help us order. Closest thing to real korean fried chicken in the area.

John Mills

Bomb chicken! Definitely coming back. Their crispy fries were way good too.

This is a different type of fried chicken place. Korean style. I didn’t find their spicy sauce spicy. Meat was good but not very tender. The butter rice side was just mediocre. Will try it some other flavors next time. Also be aware there is no place to sit dow here.

Jordan Baker

The chicken and fries are amazing! I recommend the garlic sauce.

Jaehee Shin

Some of the best chicken I've ever had. Period. I ordered the 1/2 chicken (which comes in small, bite-size pieces) with house sauce. The batter they coat the chicken with is light and super crispy, with a slightly sweet flavor. The sauce is teriyaki-like Korean with jist the right amount of heat on the back end. I couldn't stop eating. Perfectly cooked shoestring fries, and a bit of vinegary, black peppery slaw on the side to cut the sticky sweetness of the sauce. A slightly larger serving of slaw would be nice, but there is no shortage of food for the price.

L Beuchert

Great people better food

Amanda

So enjoyed this place! I’m craving it now

My husband and I LOVE this place! The food is fantastic and the employees are wonderful! The chicken is cooked to perfection, absolutely juicy, but the breading is my favorite. It’s so perfectly crunchy and contrasts well with the tender chicken. Other wing restaurants don’t compare. We got a bowl of boneless and a bowl of wings, each with half house sauce and half candy garlic. Both flavors are delicious. My husband preferred the garlic while I prefer the house. I’m not a huge wing fan, I usually order boneless, but I would eat the wings from here everyday, they’re that delicious. The sides are also awesome. The fries here are some of my favorite, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a touch of flavor. The butter rice was pretty good as well. Aside from their amazing food, the workers were so kind and funny! Please try this place out!

Heather Wright

Very impressed with this company and food! Brian dropped of what must have been hundreds of dollars of food for our office to try samples and they were all delicious. Way to go Bok Bok!

Laura Ruiz

Best chicken yo gk for romantic dates, Get the original sauce chicken, so goood!!, and they provide you with gloves to dig in, the cole slaw is amazing! I am so glad they have this, now if they could sell Soju for a full 치맥 experience, that would be awesome

Seth Gremmert

Great food at a Great price! Something slightly different and very tasty. Will definitely be going back soon and often. Service was fast and friendly

Awesome chicken! Like, I bet the chicken knows how to skateboard. It’s that awesome.

Anke Weimann

No fuss crispy fried chicken .. We ordered the combo with slaw and fries. Did a half and half of candied garlic and house spicy sauce.❤️Loved both. The garlic's sweet and strong and prob would knock out a sinus infection fast

Sooryun Lee

I left a 5 star review 30 minutes ago and I have to update my review. I hope this review reaches the owner. I ordered two whole chicken: garlic and house. The pieces are just all wrong in sizes and very obviously weren't prepared and cooked together. The taste changed as well. I don't know what happened but I want the original quality.

sabrina gutierrez

there is no seating. It’s a grab food and go. Their house sauce is amazing and their wings have good crunch. I go here at least like once a week. That’s because my favorite food is wings. The small size comes with 8 wings and two sides. It fills you up and it’s a good price. One of my favorite places to get food from. They are a nice local place to support and I love their food

Ross H.

Amazing Korean friend chicken and fries. Next door to Kitchen 88 which is also great!

Doug Deeds

I had the chicken wings with house sauce and found them very crispy and flavorful. My daughter thought they were a bit spicy. The only reason for the 4 star instead of 5 was due to the "butter rice" being bland and nothing special.

Blake Wight

My wife and I were driving home with our food and I was thinking that I would have mine when we got home. Then my wife took a bite of a wing, and I heard the that crispy crunch. I immediately pulled over, and my wife and I devoured those wings. It was incredible. The staff was super nice, and the owner was a real friendly guy.

최충식

The sauces taste okay but as some other reviews have mentioned, the quality of their chicken is getting worse and worse. I have visited their place since they started in Provo while back and the meat is getting smaller and smaller while the bones and flour batter gets thicker and thicker. My most recent order of full chicken had few pieces that pretty much tasted like straight up flour with sauce on it. They are trying so hard to make the srrvings look bigger than they actually are and trying to save money and kill quality. There arent any other korean style chicken places in Utah so I used to go time to time but won't be anymore. I just hope this does not ruin korean chicken for people who have not tried it somewhere else. And hope they dont make the same mistakes they did when they were in the Villages at Provo which made them go out of business. Stay away.

God created the heavens, the Earth, and before resting on the 7th day; he created Bok Bok.

Clovis Long

Holy cow, this place is so good. I got the House sace on a half chicken. It was superb.

Mitchell McKinley

So bomb. I got the bone in House and Candy Garlic wings and they were great. Super friendly owners, quick food, and a straight forward menu.

Jacob Gremmert

Fantastic food. Very personable owner. The house sauce is life changing!

Nissa Lu

I used to recommend this place to my friends in past, but not anymore. The quality of wings are going down significantly. We used to drive 40-50 minutes from SLC to here, but we feel it’s not worthy to drive there now. The wings are tiny now and the spicy sauce are overpowering. I am able to eat the korean spicy chicken noodles, but the spicy sauce fro bok bok that I had last time was even spicier than the sauce for noodles. My friends and I was talking about this place yesterday and she lives around there. She also stops to go there because of the wing quality. It is sad that a store just go cheap for quality. I don’t think I want to drive down there anymore for buying chicken.

Must try! So yummy! Fast friendly service! Love the simple menu! Ordered the house spicy bone in with fries and a spicy salad. We both said we love spicy... and done! Delicious! Definitely re-coat each wing with the sauce underneath for maximum flavor and spice. Such crispy goodness, will be back to try the boneless.

Danielle Allred

Fabulous food! The guy working there tonight was super friendly and upbeat. New favorite place to eat!

Christopher Miller

Awesome korean fried chicken!

Jas lyn

I went in with a friend today to try out something new, and I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken is fresh, I ordered the half chicken with the house sauce, although personally it wasn't very spicy (more of a tangy) it was very good! I saw that some thought the butter rice was bland and nothing special, however it worked really well to balance out the sauce. I definitely felt like I got a lot more chicken than what I expected and the guy at the register was sweet enough to put in a side of the house spicy sauce. The service and food was great, I'll definitely be returning and recommending this place !

Jesse Kissee

Great price for the food. We love the spicy house sauce. The spiciness of it seems to vary from day to day.

Caroline Banes

The chicken and service is FANTASTIC! The sides are yuck.

Changhee Lee

Jeff Case

Wonderfully flavored sauce on the chicken. And the cole slaw was really spot on, a great, fresh complement to the fried chicken.

Autumn Heeyeon Lee

Best Korean fried chicken ever in Utah!! I’ve already been there so many times, and I love it every time I go! Everyone is saying house spicy isn’t really spicy, but personally think it’s pretty spicy! The owner is really nice, and food is served quick! Really good for night snacks!! (I don’t have a picture because I always forget to take a picture before I start eating!!)

Leigha Nunnally

Their bone in house wings are incredibly flavorful. Bring your friends. It's refreshingly different.

Chelsea Dasol Jeong

I'm from Korea and this is the most authentic Korean chicken I've had since I moved here! Sweet Garlic is especially good.

Marsela Fletcher

SOOOO GOOD!!! I got the Tri-tip steak and mashed potatoes with greens and the chocolate hazelnut cheesecake from Kitchen 88's side. My husband got the bone-in wings with the house sauce and fries. Good Prices, Fantastic People, and Amazing Food!!!

The absolute best wings I've ever had. I literally ate them 4 days in a row. Ask my wife. She's worried about me.

Not bad for Utah. House spicy sauce is good (not really spicy though). Garlic is way too much garlic

Get out of the way KFC. Make way for the new king of fried chicken. Bryan and Bryan are seriously amazing! Will be back soon!

On my first visit I got the Regular Boneless Chicken with House Sauce, with sides of Slaw & Fries. The slaw is a basic vinegar slaw that pairs great with the perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavor of the House sauce. The chicken is double fried so it is very crispy, which I loved. The fries are crispy, not too salty; I dipped them in the sauce of my chicken. Solid portions, even for the regular. Large would’ve been at least two meals for me. Loved it so much I went back the next day and got the same thing, but instead of slaw, I tried the butter rice, which was good but nothing to write home about. Service is quick and friendly — I was in an out within 5 minutes. I’m not from the area but I am from Atlanta where there is a large Korean population....definitely need to see if there is anything that compares back home. I’m officially addicted!

Ethan Hunsaker

Chicken was well seasoned and just the right amount of heat and flavor. Some pieces were a bit on the small side but each piece was a cut of chicken instead of ground chicken so that's a plus. The butter rice and Asian slaw had nice flavor and served as a great compliment to the chicken but a bit too simple to stand on their own. Portions we're about the right size to get you comfortably full but are priced on the high side.

I hope everyone reads this comment before considering visiting their restaurant. I have been enjoying their chicken menus since when they opened the restaurant for the first time. I had their chicken over 20 times. Although I live in North Salt Lake, it was okay for myself to drive 30 mins to get there and have the chicken, because their serving size, quality of the chicken, and taste was satisfying. But now I am deciding not to waste my money and time on their restaurant anymore. At some point, their serving size started keep getting smaller and now it is just ridiculous. When something like this happens, customers can understand up to some point considering the inflation and what not. But they made a huge difference for the serving size in a very short period. Also, they kept changing the chicken they use. It used to be great quality chickens. But now I can see the significant difference in the quality that chickens they use are like 90% bones (almost nothing to eat). Lastly, they treat each customer very differently (they manipulate serving sizes). One day, my friends and I decided to have some chickens from their restaurant. When I got to the place there was an old couple who seemed to be the owner's friend. The owner said extra and gave some more extra chicken pieces to the couple. I was okay until that point, because nobody expects the money you paid to be taken for serving somebody else. After few minutes, I received my order and then I drove back to Salt Lake. My friends and I opened the box to enjoy our meal. At that point, we had their chicken over 15 times. And we noticed that something was wrong, because it had a few less pieces. We were able to notice it, because we used to count pieces so that everyone can have an equal amount. Never go.. . well... JUST RUN AWAY!!! from their restaurant and worthless foods! It is the perfect example of the terrible management and customer care. I am a Korean just like the restaurant owner, so I would usually don't say any bad opinion on K restaurants. But this is over now.

Tim Chen

Best chicken in the universe! I'm not being paid to say this either.

Spence Robison

Their bone in wings are some of the best wings I have ever had. They are super friendly, and are always happy to have customers in. I always try to support them as often as I can.

This is one of those places that are about the sauce. We had boneless wings with the house sauce and the garlic sauce. Both were pretty good. Here is a tip. Always get fries as a side. Why? Are the fries amazing? No, pretty good, but not amazing. The reason is they are another vehicle for the sauce. Once you finish your chicken stir those fries in the extra sauce and voila, fried potato in saucy greatness. You're welcome.

Tyson B.

Love this place! So happy I found it.

Oscar Peterson

Super tasty, well cooked fried chicken. Then add some sauce and you you've got a winner. For real though, it was cooked awesome. You can choose between a half chicken, whole chicken, boneless wings or wings. It's a grab and go type of place. Not really tables to sit and eat at. But it's a good vibe and they're really friendly. The only thing I could see to improve was if they would let you have small samples of sauce to determine what you want :). Give this place a visit!

Ian Keller

That was amazing! My brother-in-law and I just finished up a half order of the house boneless chicken and boy was I impressed. Not only was the food awesome but the guys working there were friendly and great! The half order says it should come with 9 pieces of chicken but I'm pretty sure we got a lot more than that. Couldn't even finish all my food! Definitely a great place to try out if you get the chance. I will say it can get pretty spicy so be prepared for a kick! But they have other non spicy options as well that I am sure are superb. Only downside is there isn't a place to sit but I take my food back to work anyways.

devproco

They used to be amazing. Now, I'd be ashamed to recommend them. The quality of their chicken is now about ready-to-eat grocery store quality. They cut back on portion size and sauces to a point that don't justify the cost.

Sani Mauigoa

We love going there and we have been frequent customers, at least once a week for the last few months, however, the last two times we have been there they gave us really small finger sized chicken. Disappointed. We tried ordering a couple of two regular orders and a large order. But the Americans don't give out much. I would only want to go in when the Koreans are in. The food is good tho, but the portion is too small.

Love the chicken and the sauce. The fries are also fantastic, they almost have a tempura-type texture to them.

You're reading this because you're wondering if you should try this. You need not suffer anymore this is the chicken you are looking for. Having lived in Korea I can attest that this is genuine korean fried chicken. Great portions and so delicious, a half chicken could feed 2 people but let's be honest you'll want at least a half chicken all to yourself.

Amazing Korean fried chicken, friendly staff, and the best restaurant name

Rea Aira Cranney

Ok.. I don't know if this was a fluke, but the house spicy sauce was SO HOT. Like, chugging-milk-crying-grownup-tears hot. And the other reviewers are right about it being mostly breading, not chicken.. I mean it was still pretty good, the fries were really good.. I want to try them again, because I NEED some good Korean fried chicken in my life..

Drew White

Tried for the first time and it is amazing! We got the boneless house chicken, candy garlic and the naked. They were all amazing! Also, portions are huge so you definitely get your monies worth. Highly recommend trying this place out. It is great to see more variety as far as food goes popping up in the area!

Food tastes good ... however the place is literally a hole in the wall. Dirty and made me question the safety of the food/employees. I kinda lost my appetite.

adam healey

The best chicken around!

Jason Barrus

I’ve eaten at bok bok twice in the last several months and while the food itself tasted fine both times the concern for proper food safety was lacking. The first time I watched an employee handle cash, touch his face and then handle food, all with the same pair of gloves on. Then he proceeded to drop chicken into the fryer with the same tongs used to pull the chicken out, dropping it into a metal bowl that looked like it hadn’t been changed all day. The second time I ate here was at my wife’s request, and I figured everyone has a bad day so I’ll give it a try again. We ordered our food and sat to wait for it to cook, amazingly it came out about a minute and a half later, lukewarm and definitely below safe holding temperature for ready-to-eat food items. Additionally it seems that the stainless on the back wall hasn’t been cleaned properly in long enough that clear streaks of grease are visible. I hope that they’ll embrace better food safety practices going forward but I don’t think I’ll be likely to eat here again.

James

Excellent! Y'all have to try this place. Very tasty chicken at a good price. Really friendly service.

Joshua Hardy

Edit: I used to really like Bok Bok like seriously 5/5 best wings I've had in a long time. And I would eat there weekly, but since they've been saving money to open up a new restaurant in Provo, everything I love about their food has changed for the worse. They're cutting corners to increase profit margins and it shows. Best Korean Fusion food. Could use a little more variety on the wing flavors, but the 4 they have are awesome!

Stephen Jones

Bok Bok chicken is one of the best and only places you can go to get authentic Korean fried chicken, all other places fall by a long shot. They have great customer service and know that their customers dictate if the store does well. I like most of the menu so you can’t go wrong with what you order but beware, it can be somewhat spicy if you aren’t used to it but what’s life without a little spice.

Mariah Pickett

Their wings are amazing! The fries with it are even better. And who would have thought buttered rice & wings together?! Seriously mouth watering. Love it.

If you like fresh, crispy, crunchy, delicious chicken wings, head on down. My regular order is their half size boneless wings with house sauce, house spicy on the side for dunking, and double fry.

Jeff N

I wanted to find a good chicken wing place and a couple friends told me to check out this place. I ordered their house wings with the side of fries and rice. They're pretty generous with the sauce. It was good yet messy but it's part of eating saucy wings. You can ask them for gloves to eat them btw. The rice was ok, thought it would be good with the wings but fries are better with it. Downside to this place is that you can't really dine in. Technically, you can eat outside standing up at one of their tables.

K H

I had higher hopes for this place. The house sauce is really good but the chicken was over cooked and very chewy rather than being nice and tender. Also, the bok stickers were so over cooked to a crisp, the inside was dry as well. They were bad enough, I ended up throwing 3 of the 4 in the garbage. I may have to give this place 1 more try to see if it was just an off day.

Tyler Sumsion

Great food, and really friendly people! Having lived in Asia, the atmosphere and the food takes you back. Again, super friendly people and I would totally come back.

Monica Wilson

Pretty good korean fried chicken, the owners were super nice and friendly. They did get our order wrong and we got the spiciest one and it was really spicy.

Ryan Bullock

House sauce was a spicier than expected. But the chicken was perfectly cooked!! Fries were different, I assume it's a Korean style. Still good!!!!!

Gian Oneil

One of the best Fried Chickens I ever had, sauces are really awesome as well.

Rebecca Forrette

WOW! This place is incredible! The chicken is so incredibly crispy and flavorful. I got the boneless in candy garlic sauce with fries and butter rice, my husband got the wings in the spicy house sauce with butter rice and coleslaw. Everything was just amazing. The flavor is so complex and bold. I saw some other review that said it was too garlicy, but that isn't the case at all. Maybe if you hate flavor. The candy garlic had lots of chunks of garlic in it that was delicious, the spicy house had good kick without being overpowering. Some things are so spicy that all you taste is the spicy and nothing else, this wasn't like that. You can taste all the wonderful flavor and still get a good spice kick. Seriously, you need to try this place. Best fried chicken I've ever had. It seems to be a little family run place, maybe husband and wife, and they were so nice. We will absolutely be back.

Dorian Castro

The food was very delicious, very good service, everyone’s very nice, and the food came out quickly! Definitely recommend this place!

I spend a couple years living in South Korea and fell in love with their chicken (배달 치킨). I haven't heard of a place that even comes close until Bok Bok Chicken came around. When I entered, the staff was very friendly. They explained their flavors and offered suggestions of popular flavors. Their flavors and the texture reminds me of what my friends and I ate back in Korea. I'm so glad the owners came out from LA to open Bok Bok here!

If you have never had Korean fried chicken you have not lived a full life. This is the best Korean fried chicken in Utah. The chicken is cooked to perfection and the house sauce is sweet with a little kick. It is not super spicy like some Korean food. Come give it a try and you will not be disappointed.

The Food is really good, but the experience wasn't. That sauce is sticky and there is no bathrooms. Their can be spicy and ya might want a good 20 minutes in a bathroom. Also there is no chairs or tables so be sure to bring your own table.

Definitely a different experience of food. First off, Bok Bok shares a space with another food vendor, second there's no dine-in seating, we just used their stand up tables and made the best of it. As far as food goes, the chicken was pretty good, they double fried it so it's extra crispy. The house spicy is our favorite, the garlic can get really garlicy. Ask for less salt on the fries though, ours was a little over salted.

K H

Very good chicken. Will definitely be going back. There really isn't a place to sit and eat though.

Not sure as to how this place is 4.5 stars... Got the boneless chicken in house sauce and half in candy garlic. The house sauce was edible but the candy garlic was disgusting. As someone who has grown up eating Korean fried chicken, this place is an embarrassment. You cannot compare this to Korean fried chicken, and it's worse than buffalo wild wings. The reviews are mostly from people who have no clue what Korean fried chicken is, which is why I think it has some good reviews. But if you know what Korean fried chicken is, then do your self a favor and stay away.

Aaron Ormiston

David Funk

I was looking forward to this meal because of the high rating it had. I got the boneless wings with the garlic and spicy house sauce, with a side of fries and rice. The sauce itself was decent. It came with a overwhelming amount of sauce, almost more than the chicken itself. The fries were cold, hard, and hallow. The rice is pretty basic. It was a disappointment and a waste of $20. We ended up throwing away all the fires and some of the chicken.

Jessica Poémape

My partner and I were really excited to go to this place because we both love Korean food and really wanted to try. When we got there the staff was very friendly and explained the menu for us. The one downside we noticed right away was the lack of proper seating. Yes, there are chairs and a bar table, but the table is too high for the chairs. I was eating with the food at my shoulder level. We ordered the boneless large and it was ready in under two minutes, which initially we thought was great. However, the chicken did not taste very fresh. It was ready in less than 2 minutes. There’s no way they fried the chicken fresh to order. It was also on the borderline of dry. My partners portion was drier than mine. As far as the sauce goes, my partner got the garlic candy sauce. It was really sweet. It wasn’t our cup of tea, but it wasn’t bad. I got the spicy house sauce which was *very* spicy. This is coming from someone who regularly enjoys Korean fire ramen noodles, so watch out for that. The flavor of the sauce was alright, but the spiciness was a bit too much. The portions were a good size. I would say the large boneless could feed 2 really hungry people easily or 3 regular hungry people well. I think this place has a lot of potential, but I think they could work on the freshness. I wouldn’t mind waiting a few more minutes for them to fry the chicken fresh for me. Overall, I don’t know if this was just a bad day, but we probably won’t be returning. However, I would say it’s worth a shot to try because lots of people have had a good experience here.

I was excited to try this because I live so close. The portion sizes were great... but became less impressive once I realized how much breading was actually on the chicken. I felt like I got very little actual chicken. However, I loved the flavor of their house sauce. Hopefully I can go back and try their boneless and see if the chicken to breading ratios are better!

Keith Keller

Boneless chicken wings with Asian slaw and fries. It was awesome. The chicken was crispy and tender. The sauce was a perfect sweet then spicy. I will be back for more
